You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to be RATHER unpleasant.

Nicolette's managed to drag both you and Sylvie along with her on a trip into town... and before you left, she roped Princess Marianne's personal maid Melanie along as well.

You ended up catching a spy, running into someone from the bad old days, and helped Nicolette pick out a fancy dress...

...and as the final stop of the day, you're at Nicolette's place for dinner.

>Guard Rank: RABBIT
>Congratulations, you are now a nonassuming Rabbit!
>While rabbits are also small mammals, but people actually like having them around!
>The Princess is pretty much indifferent towards you now!
>But she still doesn't consider you to be a person.

Unable to resist the delicious aroma of the food that sits before you, you quickly begin devouring it. Judging from Nicolette and Sylvie's eating habits, you're pretty sure that Ariane won't be too offended... hopefully.

"So, sylvie..." Ariane begins, "...when's the wedding?"

Sylvie immediately starts choking on her food, coughing uncontrollably.

"Uh... wedding?" you ask, putting down your fork.
"It's pretty obvious to everyone here how Sylvie feels, so..." Ariane says teasingly.
"Reinhold..." Gillaume glares at you. "...I don't care that you're Nico's friend or whatever, I swear that I'mma kick your ass for stealing Sylvie away from me..."

Finally haing stopped coughing, Sylvie stands up, slapping her hands on the table.

"A- Aunt Ariane!" Sylvie shouts, "Th... that's not funny at all! I don't like Reinhold like that at all, we're just friends!"
"Ohh?" Ariane grins slyly, "A certain someone was telling me about how excited you were to teach him hw to use magic, and that you've suddenly seemed a lot happier over the past week or so..."

Sylvie turns to Nicolette, raising a fist in the air.

"Nicolette, you didn't..." she says, drawing back for a punch.
"Wasn't me," Nicolette replies, shrugging. "...though I suppose this means that we're even now..." she smiles wickedly at sylvie.
"S... so you're not engaged to Reinhold?" Gillaume asks.
"NO I AM NOT ENGAGED TO HIM WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT"

"Aw..." you sigh, "...so I went and beat Nicolette up for nothing, then..."

You then go back to eating your food, ignoring the shocked expressions of everyone else at the table.

...except Ariane, who is giggling uncontrollably.

"THAT'S IT IMMA BEAT YOU DOWN RIGHT NOW!!" Gillaume shouts as he jumps up from his seat.
"No, stop!" Bernard yells, holding his brother back. "He was just joking!"
"Y- yeah, I'm sure it was just a joke..." Sylvie says, covering her blushing face.
"Heh, nice one," Nicolette says, grinning.

After a few more threats on your life from Gillaume, everyone gets back to eating their food. Despite you having had a head start due to the dinner shenanigans, Ariane finishes first.

"Looks like your appetite's the same as my kids!" she says happily.
"Uh..." you look around and see that everyone else has finished eating as well. "I guess?"
"I -would- make another joke about that, but I think that poor Sylvie's had enough... so, I assume that you'll be heading back to the castle now?"

"Yeah, it is getting kind of late..." you say as you check your pocketwatch. "I have a box of pastries that I need to get to the Princess..." you say as you get up from the table.
"Oh?" Ariane looks at you, grinning widely. "So -that's- what it is..." she gets up, runs to the still-seated Sylvie, and hugs her. "Oh, you poor girl! Unrequited love is the absolute worst!"
"C'mon, quit it with the jokes already..." Sylvie says, attempting to squirm out of Ariane's grip.

"...oh yeah!" Ariane lets go of Sylvie. "The whole point of your trip was to get a dress for Nico!"
"That's right, and I'm the one who picked it out!" Sylvie says, smiling proudly.
"...uh, I think we ought to get going now..." Nicolette says as she gets up from the table.
"Oh no you don't!" Ariane says, grabbing onto Nicolete's arm before she can escape. "Reinhold and Sylvie might have to get going now, but -you- are going to be staying here tonight so I can make sure that your dress fits properly!"

"I'd love to help out with that, but we ought to get going..." Sylvie says, grinning wickedly at Nicolette as she gets up from the table.

"Umm, it's nothing like that," Sylvie says.
"You aure about that?" Ariane asks.
"Yes, I was there the last time that he sketched Nicolette just to make sure."

A wide grin forms on Ariane's face as she holds on tightly to Nicolette's arm.

"I knew that you were close, but I never would have expected that you'd be sharing a boy..." Ariane giggles. "Or that my little Nico was even in-"
"DAMMIT MOM SHUT UP" Nicolette screams.

As you have your little exchange, Gillaume and Bernard watch on, completely confused.

"Umm, what's wrong with drawing?" Bernard asks. "I draw pictures all the time."
"Yeah, you guys're acting weird," Gillaume joins in.
"I'll tell you two when you're older..." Ariane teases.

With Ariane's teasing barrage finally over, she and her children walk you and Sylvie outside to the carriage.

"It's always a treat to have you over, Sylvie!" Ariane says as she hugs her.
"Yeah, thank for cooking us dinner," Sylvie replies, returning the hug.

Ariane then lets Sylvie go and turns to you.

"And Reinhold... this is actually the first time I've actually met one of Nico's friends that wasn't Sylvie," she says. "I know she's foulmouthed and foul-tempered, but try not to hold it against her, okay? It runs in the family."
"Umm... sure," you reply.

"Hey, Reinhold!" Gillaume shouts. "You better not make Nico cry, or I'mma kick your butt! And keep your hands off of Sylvie, I saw her first!" he shakes his fist at you.
"Psh, and when have you ever seen -me- cry?" Nicolette rolls her eyes.
"Ummmm..." Bernard looks at the ground. "...the next time you come over, show me your pictures! And your magic!"
"Yeah, I bet Bernard's way better than you in both of those!" Gillaume chimes in.
"Heh, we'll see about that," you reply.

You then walk up to the carriage and open the door for Sylvie to get in.

"Hey Nicolette, your family is great. Don't take them for granted," you say, turning to her.
"Yeah, yeah..." Nicolette replies, blushing slightly.
"And thanks for everything, Mrs, um..."
"You can just call me Ariane!" Ariane chirps. "Or if you want, you can call me 'Mom'..."
"Dammit, can't you go five minutes without saying something weird..." Nicolette sighs.

"Uhh..." you attempt to ignore that last joke, "I guess I'll see you around," you say as you step inside the carriage.
"Bye, everyone!" Sylvie waves.

With that, you close the carriage door and start on your way to the castle.

The ride between Nicolete's mansion and the castle isn't very long, but you might as well get some conversation time in...

"So..." you begin, "...when do I get to meet -your- mother?"
"Hm? My mother?" Sylvie replies. "She's nowhere near as, um, -interesting- as Nicolette's mother is, but if you really want..."

You were definitely expecting Sylvie to freak out, but she's actually taking your joke seriously?

"It's kind of boring at home, but I'm sure that I could get my father to bring you over for a visit if you want. I owe you that much for prying into your personal life, anyways," Sylvie says with a guilty smile.
"Uh, I'll think about it?" you reply.

Sylvie doesn't seem bothered by that, but you feel a bit awkward so you try and change the subject.

"Hmm... what was that spell that Ariane used back there?" you ask.
"Spell?" Sylvie replies, unsure wht you meant. "Which one, she uses magic all the time."
"The one she cast on Nicolette when she was telling that story about Nicolette's crush on Princess Luciana."
"Oh, that one!" Sylvie snaps her fingers. "Rose Sphere, right? That's a variant of Null Sphere that Aunt Ariane made pink because it's her favorite color."
"...huh."
"It only lasts a few minutes and it pops the second that you poke it with something sharp, so I never bothered to learn it... I could look it up for you if you want though."

>AWW YEAH WE MAKIN BUBBLES NOW
>no, you don't have to go through the trouble
>>
>>27670989
Not really, knights are the lowest rank of nobility, and non-hereditary at that, she's the daughter of nobility, she's destined for someone with a peerage at least.

Mind you, after being knighted, further awesomeness could result in a title of nobility and peerage.
>>
>>27670989
Actually not, because she's mostly a diplomatic tool. You know, arranged marriages and what-not.

Marrying her off with Nicolette would be better.
>>
>>27671037

We're talking Luciana, not Marianne.

One's a cool with a dickass dad and the other is a bitch with a bro dad.
>>
>>27671037
That was Marianne not Luciana
>>
>>27671037

>>
>>27671037
Wrong princess, Lucianna is marrying for politics according to that king, it's /our/ princess that's marrying for love.
>>
>>27671054
[x] no, you don't have to go through the trouble
Though we should ask how easy it is to modify existing spells.
>>

Luciana is the Princess from the next country over who's father is trying to marry her off for politics and profit.

>>
>>27671054
>no, you don't have to go through the trouble

As much as I love BUBBLES, we should probably limit ourselves to directly useful spells, and any threat worth the name wouldn't be all that inconvenienced by a glorified soap bubble.
>>
>>27671113
>implying she doesn't love every second of it
>>
>>27671146

I dunno, if we can make a reinforced metal variant then we could have a pretty handy tool for capturing people alive.

>>
>>27671054
"Unless there's a way to make it far stronger, I don't really think it would be worthwhile spending your effort on it Sylvie."
>>
>>27671176

>>
>>27671168
Of course she does. No reason to treat her like a mindless spell dispenser after all she also is in training.
That aside, yeah loves every second.
>>
METAL bubbles would be cool, if that's even a thing.

Otherwise, not really worth the effort.
>>
Hey guys, wouldn't it be best to learn magic that counters other magic? (is that a thing?)
>>
>>27671206

It's created to contain stuff in the first place, I'm sure air holes come standard.
>>
>>27671054
She doesn't have to show us that. We were only interested in it as a way to remove a potential threat. We're better off just encasing people in walls of iron. In fact, inquire about that. Then maybe ask about stone/steel skin.
>>
>>27671176
I think that only works for Earth-based spells, which magic bubble probably isn't.

In any case, I'm sure there is a spell along those exact lines within the Earth/Metal alignment. I mean seriously, when have you ever heard of an Earth mage who can't summon rocks/chains/giant angry rockhands to restrain people?
>>
>>27671176
At this point, Reinhold lacks the education to make more than minor variations on spells. (changing colors, etc) And even that takes a bit of practice, intentionally switching elements is out of the question.

Accidentally fucking up while casting something and getting something New and Different is an occasional possibility, though.
>>
>>27671230
it's a spell you can pop with your fingernails, it doesn't need them

And Nicolette was silenced by it, so no airflow.

So, no, they wouldn't come standard.
>>
>>27671235
we should ask about a place to practice
>>
>>27671280

It's a spell that Nicolette popped with her magically summoned lance.

I'm pretty sure it's tougher than you think.
>>
>>27671280
It's about as durable as a real-life rubber balloon, fingernails aren't quite enough to pop it.
>>
>>27671054
>OTHER!
"Pink bubbles isn't exactly what i had in mind, but steel orbs on the other hand IS what i wanted to do. it would be perfect as a last ditch measure to protect someone or be a surprise obstical if i ahd to make one."
>>
>>27671227
I don't think we need to worry about magic users for a while. Most people use knives or daggers for assassinations.

In fact, just how rare are magic users in Granche and beyond?
>>
>>27671301
>it pops the second that you poke it with something sharp
Reading comprehension, gain it.
>>
>>27671310
Well, against sharp things, anyways. Blunt force is another story, but it looks like you guys don't want it.

>writing
>>
>>27671310
In that case, we've got to learn it. We're a body guard for chrissake. Anything that removes one assailant from the equation is good.

Hell, it can even be used defensively.
>>
Hahahaha!
What if Nicollet refuses to do magic not because she can't, but because her mom's afffinity turns all her spells PINK.
>>
>>27671339
but it doesn't remove an assailant, anybody with a weapon just pops the damn thing instantly, and somebody without it takes only a little bit longer.

We should learn a spell to restrain or capture someone, that particular spell is not it.
>>
>>27671312

they only problem with that is would the metal stay even after the magic stops?
>>
>>27671273
well in that case we should ask Sylvia about elemantal swaping of spells so the MC would learn in character about it. probably ask about lining up a meeting with the court Wizard/her magic teacher about getting US and maybe our princess more magic classes.
>>
>>27671385
But now it's metal, because we're badasses.
>>
>>27671392
i guess that depends on if we cast the greater or lesser verion of it.

>>27671403

see
>>27671273

We may be able to do it in the future, but as of now it's a bubble of uselessness.

And that still doesn't cover the suffocation issue.
>>
>>27671485
Why not learn to make Reinhold's skin steel?
>>
>>27671530
They call us... Pink Steel!
>>
>>27671558
That sounds too close to a dildo brand or porn studio
>>
>>27671530
Because we would have it to protect Marriane, not us
>>
>>27671558
>>27671530
>>27671524
We should learn to give cloth the strength of steel, so that we will be able to use it as a defense, an attack, or to protect the princess.
>>
>>27671530
Why, so we can become hard at will?
>>
>>27671599
So we learn to cast it on others! Shouldn't be impossible, right?
>>
>>27671621
Being able to deflect potentially fatal blows is always a great skill to have and combined with steel hands the spell can create a whole new combat style.
>>
"Nah, that's okay," you say. "You don't have to go through that much trouble for me."
"...but I don't mind it at all..." Sylvie mumbles. "Umm, was there anything else you were wondering about?"
"Maybe a spell with a similar effect of the Earth element?" you ask. "Since my affinity is Metal, and that's supposed to be a subtype of Earth..."
"Similar effect..." Sylvie scratches her head. "Uhh... I don't know any off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's something out there," she says to you. "Probably won't be as convenient though, since stuff that you create with Earth and Ice magic sticks around indefinitely."

"It doesn't crumble or anything?" you ask.
"Nope. Those two are solid elements, and Earth spells in particular are a pain to clean up after you use them." Sylvie looks at you. "...and since your actual affinity is Metal, it's probably even worse for you for the spells that switch over..."
"...oh yeah, like the metal sand," you reply, remembering the mess you made in the library the first time you cast a spell.

"Yup! I'm the oldest, and then there's my two little sisters," Sylvie replies. "I'm closer to our father, but those two're always following our mother around everywhere."
"Heh. Are they anything like Nicolette's brothers?" you ask.
"No, they're a lot more boring," Sylvie sighs. "They're into super girly stuff like needlepoint and trying on my mother's jewelry, so we don't have very much in common," Sylvie laughs. "I'm kind of jealous of Nicolette, brothers are a lot more fun to have around."

"Speaking of families," you begin, "why was Nicolette so jumpy about her mother telling me her last name?"
"Oh, that?" Sylvie replies. "Well, it's the same last name as her father and she's probably wary of you figuring it out through that."
"Ah."

Before you can ask Sylvie anything else, the carriage finally makes it to the castle, stopping at the gate.

"Well, I guess this is it..." you say as you open the door.
"Um, yeah," Sylvie replies, blushing slightly. "...oh, here's that book from before."

Sylvie rummages through her bag and pulls out the book that she got you from Marchamp's store, "A Beginner's Earth Magic: 12th edition." After you exit the carriage, she places it on top of your pastry box and hands both to you.

"Goodnight, Reinhold! See you tomorrow!" Sylvie says to you, waving.
"Yeah, goodnight. Take care on the way home," you reply.

With that, Sylvie closes the carriage door, signaling for it to leave. As the carriage speeds off into the distance, you head inside the castle.

We live in the castle as part of the job and most days we're too busy to manage property.

A bit of charity when we have far more money than we need is not a bad thing.

Nodding to the various guards that you see along the way, you take the fastest route to the Princess's room, so that you can finally get these pastries to her. Just before you're about to enter the stairwell, you nearly run into someone else who was walking in the opposite direction.

"Whoa!" you shout, doing your best to keep the box balanced so that its contents aren't crushed. Fortunately, your reflexes are good enough to keep the baked goods safe.

"Oh, my apologies..." the bespectacled man says to you, bowing slightly. "I really should pay more attention where I'm going..."
"Don't worry about it," you reply.

The man then stares at you for a few seconds, and suddenly snaps his fingers.

"Ah, of course!" he says as he studies your face. "Yes, yes..." he then walks a full circle around you as if he was doing an inspection. "Very good."

Deciding to deal with Niklaus later, you head up the stairs and through the hallway, stopping in front of the Princess's room. Balancing the box on one hand, you knock on the door.

There's no answer for quite a while, so you figure that the Princess may not have come to her room for the night yet or maybe she's asleep, but then you hear a muffled voice from behind the door.

"Melanie? I thought I told you that I didn't need any..."

Except that's wrong and also stupid. Basques are both not extinct, and not any sort of progenitor for the main European population, who are hybrids of assorted celts and steppe barbarians.
>it's fair to say that their language is a proto-european one.
Also false. Indo-European languages stem from an aryan base, and the Basque tongue is not only NOT related to these tongues, but is one of exceedingly few in Europe that isn't.
>>
>>27673187
They still exist? And calling them "proto-european" would mean that they're both distinct from true europeans in some way, and that they evolved or progressed somehow into the classical europeans.
>>
>>27673187
It means original/first.
You wouldn't call the Basques the Proto-Europeans because they were other groups around at that time. You'd go all the way back and find the original group before they were seperated into different peoples to find the Proto-European
>>
>>27673187
In modern English it means something a lot closer to "ancestral".
>>
Not to mention that 'European' isn't a distinct culture in itself.

"I bring news," you say. "And pastries."

You then remove your book from the top of the box, put it in your jacket, and present the box to the Princess.

"Um..." the Princess takes the box from you and opens it. "Wha- I heard that you were out with Melanie today, did she ask you to get these?" she asks you.
"No, it was my idea," you reply.
"Y- you really didn't have to..." she stares at you with a look of utter confusion. "And this is what I always get from their bakery, too..."
"Yeah, I asked Mr. Wilhelm what you liked."

"Oh yeah, there was something else," you reply.
"Hm? This is more than enough, and you really didn't have to..."
"No, it's news," you begin. "Mrs. Wilhelm gave birth a few days ago."

Princess Marianne stares at you in shock, nearly dropping her cakes.

"Wha... really!?" she asks, a wide smile on her face. "Are they doing okay? What about Mr. Wilhelm?"
"Yeah, they're doing fine," you reply. "She had a boy, and they named him after his father."
"Oh... oh my..." the Princess paces around for a bit, looking positively giddy. "...and they wanted a boy so badly... I wish I could have been there to see..."

After some more pacing and mumbling to herself, the Princess turns to you.

"...thank you," she says, still smiling. "I mean it. I would hae never expected that you would take time out of your day off to actually get me something... and then there's the news about Mrs. Wilhelm's baby... you've shown that you're not completely without manners after all."

While it implies it, it doesn't necessarily mean it so I'd say it's unfair to assume that before means replaced.
Linguistically there are more than a few languages around today derived from living languages like Afrikaans from Dutch.

>>27673383
That makes sense, I was thinking of it more as the Basque being members of the group of peoples living in Europe before Indo-Europeans became the dominant group in Europe and as such belonging to an older group than modern Europeans.
>>
>>27673404

Proto-Aryan / Proto-Indo-Aryan is a part of Proto-Indo-European. Languages that descend from PIA are spoken in the Iran/Pakistan/India evirons.

PIE is the common ancestral language of most of the languages of Europe, Farsi, and the Indic languages (Hindi-Urdu etc.), spoken about 6000 years ago probably somewhere around the Black Sea area.

The Basques speak a language isolate (with no known linguistic relatives) that possibly belonged to a language family that dominated Europe before the arrival of Indo-Europeans, so in a way you can say that they spoke "Proto-European" just like we call the hypothetical ultimate ancestral language common to all languages of the world "Proto-World", but that term is a bit confusing because you can easily mix it with PIE. "Proto-Basque" is much clearer.

Other non-IE languages besides Basque "native" to Europe are the Uralic languages (Hungarian, Estonian, Finnish and a bunch of smaller languages mainly in Russia), plus Turkish (Turkic) and Maltese (Arabic subfamily of Semitic).
>>
>>27673501

Correction: Proto-Indo-Aryan is a descendant of Proto-Indo-European, and is in the Indo-European language family.
>>

Well it's late enough to sleep. Too bad we didn't get time to work out, but it was a good day nonetheless.

>>27673605
>asking her how her day went pushed you over!
Are you actually marking some form of numeric XP for this relationship?
>>
>>27673604

Of course it is, by that definition no language is native to Europe.
>>
>>27673634
I think it's more likely he uses some kind of flag system.

Does Reinhold even lift?
>>
>>27673696
Seconded.

I was explaining how I was using proto as before rather than in a direct lineage sense.
>>

Get a workout in at the training yard. Intersperse it with burning through our mana reserves so they get bigger.

But then wouldn't almost all modern European languages be native to Europe since the vast majority of them evolved from older languages in Europe?

We've still got a good 2 hours or so.

Supersetting our lifts with magic castings sounds pretty good.

You still have a bit of time before it's time to sleep, so you make a beeline for the training yard so that you can finally get some exercise in. As you enter, you get the usual stares and avoidance... though it is kind of annoying that everyone refuses to spar with you, you push that to the back of your mind.

After doing a few stretches, you throw your jacket onto a nearby stool and run a few laps around the training yard. You then locate a set of weights and get to lifting. Remembering what Sylvie said about magical reserves, you decide to cast Sparkle Shine as you work out.

After a while, your reserves are run dry and you take that as a signal to finally stop. Walking through the cloud of lights that you created, you grab your things and head back into the hallway.

on a scale from ibby-baby manlet to FROM SQUATS TO SWOLE: THE LUNKSIDE STORY, can Reinhold eventually outhuge and outstrong Sir Vincent if he works out erryday after Princess goes to bed?
>>
>>27673902
How often do we wash? In medieval Europe, it was a few times a year. The Vikings bathed once a week and washed their faces once a day. The Romans bathed every day. What about here?

Note, that medieval Europe was disgusting. Women caked their faces in makeup to hide the hideous acne that washing so rarely caused, which only made it worse. Everything smelled, so people carried around perfumed smelling salts so they could use them not to faint from the terrible smell.
>>
>>27673986
We bathe every morning.
>>
>>27673902
IT BE MAGIC TIME
>>
>>27673982
It would take a few years of explicit effort to get SWOLE, his metabolism is such that he's on the thin side of muscular.

>>27673986
The richer you are, the more you wash. As a kid, Reinhold got bathed whenever his odor progressed to the point that the girls complained about it. In the army, it was around once a week. Now, it's once a day because he has his own bathroom with glorious hot running water.
>>
>>27673986

Fun fact: the Church in medieval times disliked bathing because they felt it bared the body's attractiveness.

>so what if you bathed alone?
>>
>>27673902
Sleep. This has been a pleasant, but moderately eventful day, and we need rest that we are fit for duty.
>>
Since it's pretty late, you head up to your room. As you enter, you take your new book out of your pocket, toss your jacket onto the coatrack, and sit down at your desk to read.

The first few chapters are about an overview of magic and its roots in history. It's said that monks originally developed the ability to conceptualize Script through deep meditation, and then accidentally cast the first spells while praying while in this expanded state of mind. After properly refining the art of spell creation, it quickly spread to the outside world as a way for the puny humans of old to finally be able to stand up to the dragons, elemental spirits, contractors, and devil children who previously ruled over them with impunity.

The book then moves on to an overview of common Earth-element spells. It seems that the most basic spells are things like the creation of rocks. Intermediate magic tends to involve manipulating and forming various things from the ground, like walls and stalagmites. The most advanced material in this book involves creating shockwaves... though you can't quite figure out what that has to do with this element in particular.

You'd like to move on to the next chapter, which goes on about basic spells, but your eyes are starting to burn from lack of sleep. Taking that as a cue, you put down your book, lay down on your bed, and fall fast asleep.

Does the Princess not see us "as a person" because we're an underling, because we're new, or because she only sees a few select people that way?

Because it seems odd of her to consider like a thing/pet when we're one of the people she see everyday.

Also, more crucial question for everyone here: Does Nicolette has a thing for us too, or is Sylvie without rival? Because I'm not sure Reinhold would handle well that heartbreaker stuff.

Also, we didn't really consider if we even like-like Sylvie. I got the impression he was more interested in Nicolette.
>>
I think this would be a decent stopping point, since we've FINALLY gotten to the end of the day.

We should learn to make a 2x2x2 room with three sides and top closed, it'll be a great protection for princess agaist all kinds of attacks.
>>
>>27674206
except killer shadows and oddities of that kind
>>

Actually, if we know something is after her we can put the wall up around her and we just need to protect the one open side instead of the whole surrounding.

She just needs time to grow as a character, we've hardly seen more than her tough exterior.
The other girls are just much more straight forward.

I need a friend to match with my original pressing Dark Side. Also so I can listen to it.

Marianne is the Liege and a friend tier
>>
>>27674938
I'm torn between Sylvie and Marianne, but I feel bad for waifuing this early in the quest, so I try to just vote for indecisive things around the girls.
>>
>>27674954
I know the pace has been slow, but 27 threads isn't exactly "early".
>>
>>27674954
I like Marianne most so far, and I agree with you on it being a bit early. We haven't got to know the characters very well yet.
>>
>>27674985
In game we're not even a month in, I've got to look at it from that reasoning.
Plus we still need a lot more time with characters to get to know them better, Marianne in particular.

>>27674999
Pretty much yeah, looks like Arch has this set though, so we'll be having some fun.
>>
>>27675004
Yeah, arch does great character interactions.
>>
>>27674902
Honestly I like the idea that he on his own would be quite a good person
However due to his family raising him to be a "proper gentleman of the gilbeaut line" he acts like a dick, he can't act like himself because he carries the hopes of his family's redemption into riches and power so he sabotages it by acting overly flowery and snobbish

Not that we ever find this out though and he cries himself to sleep with a portrait of Nicolette every night because secretly he loves her because she is free of the nobility bullshit he is constrained by
>>
>>27675410
Being Border Bitch is suffering.

How long before we have to team up with him Army of Two style to save the Princess(es) from an army of political malcontents holding them hostage?
>>
>>27675752
SOON
>>
>>27675752
During the upcoming trip I would imagine.

You know what would be trippy as fuck? NOTHING BAD happens during the trip, its 100% socializing and trying not to stick our foot in our mouth in front of foreign nobility. It'd be like Dante Must Die No Deaths Speedrun difficulty for us.
