Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. For a while I've wanted to share the events of a World of Darkness game I played through with hands down the best DM and players I've had the privilege of gaming with.

DM starts us out by telling us that we're going to be members of a private investigation team called the 'Glass Agency'. We're pretty much a bunch of friends/acquaintances who banded together because the economy sucks and we needed another source of income. Of our four players, including myself, only one of the others has played WoD before, so when the DM tells us we're playing Hunter, I assume it's just some premade module.

Boy was I wrong.

This is the account of three months of weekly gaming, sometimes going late into the night. I hope you enjoy this recounting, /tg/.
>>
>>27673248

I am excited to read this.
>>
To start us off, our team consists of…!

-Oakley: Think 'Aliens!!' History Channel guy in a nutshell. Loads of knowledge in occult/Ancient Egypt because he was a University Professor until the person he worked for mysteriously disappeared.

-Bill: A big, hulk of a black man who coaches high school football, wrestling, and is a master of judo.

-Allister: From my understanding, essentially a bit of a spoiled rich kid down on his luck. Keeps a 9mm pistol with him and generally rounds out the team with some normalicy.

-And my character, Alex, a young accountant with some police training background thanks to family. Also carries a .45 pistol, because you never know what goes down when investigating, right?

All of us are strapped for cash, struggling and desperate for work. And so it begins…

let there be storytime.
>>
So, our game starts out with our DM turning all the lights down, starting some slow music and some rain effects and dives right in. We get a mysterious phone call, asking us to go out to a payphone for more instructions, asked to go to an old abandoned hotel and investigate a specific room, don't involve the cops, you get 5 grand each right now and 10 grand more upon completion of the job. My accountant's eyes became dollar bills (greed vice), and away we went in our beat up old van.

We get to the big old hotel, find it locked tight. Area of town is old and deserted. Go around back, bust a window, sneak inside. Just before we go up to head up the stairs, a couple in the group notice that all the doors we went through closed without us touching them. Cue 'oh shit son' looks. Start going upstairs. DM makes us roll composure checks. We all feel shivers, but Bill just freezes up. Won't go up the stairs. It takes our encouragement (and more composure rolls from Bill) to get him to go up the stairs.

Find the room eventually. Dark as fuck in here and we've only got our flashlights. Door is jammed shut, so Bill kicks it in for us. We peer in and see....nothing.

Pitch black.

We can't see through the doorway. So Oakley does the smart thing…and walks right into the room.
>>
>>27673307
Gotta love a DM who knows the power of atmosphere.
>>
Place looks like a bomb hit. A weird bomb. Like a perfect sphere of fire burned the room starting from the dead center, ash everywhere. And there's a strange fucking symbol on the back of the door we kicked in. Looks like some sort of runes or alchemical symbols on the back of the door. Oakley is just about jizzing his pants.

As we investigate, notice a huge freaking bookshelf in the room (dafuq, what is this even here for?). After some examination we find that it swings away from the wall on a hinge and a hole has been crudely knocked through the wall to the next room. We send Allister and Bill to try the door from the outside while Oakley and I go in the hole. The outside door is firmly wedged closed, so the two outside start to give up.

Then Allister notices...-something-...big coming up the stairs.

Not someone.

SomeTHING.
>>
>>27673307
>>27673337
You guys play like the dumbasses who get themselves killed in horror movies.
This is not an insult.
>>
>>27673337
>burning everything
>sigil on the inside of the door

Nice job freeing whatever the thing was.
>>
>>27673337

Ohhh shit oh shit ohshit ohshit
>>
Both of them quickly duck back through the already smashed in door and dive through the hole after us and Bill tugs the bookshelf closed. They’re freaking out and miming silently at me and Oakley to not make a single noise. So we stop. And we listen.

And then we hear it: something big...walking into the room. Sniffing around. Searching in the scorched room. Then scratching at the bookshelf, inches from where Bill is hiding. Allister made sure nobody is making a fucking sound and after a few minutes of terror...it just…leaves.

Cue WTF faces and a quiet, if frantic, searching of the room. Normal door out is barricaded with...damn near everything in the room. Leaving only a desk and some burned out candles and a much larger, neater hole to the next room. We spread out and search for clues (jinkies!).

Find a room full of bunk beds and a room converted into a medical room but the place is almost bare of supplies. Find an over-under shotgun with a splintered off stock and a coupled shells and the desk has some strange books, a paper with an alchemical array of some kind and...a Bible with writing in it.

A Bible that our DM physically handed to us to look through, with highlighted passages, a drawing of a candle, strange notes and other stuff that didn't make too much sense to me. He also handed us the charred copy of that paper we found, covered in alchemical symbols, specially arranged in a way we couldn’t decipher off the top of our heads.
>>
>>27673374
To be fair, we knew we were being idiots. But we played our characters as desperate to just see this job through so we could get our cash and leave. We were schmucks...and we knew it.
>>
>>27673400
>physical props

The surest sign of a good ST.
>>
We try to figure the markings out for a bit then suddenly, we hear that thing outside again, walking about. We go dead quiet. All of the windows are wedged closed, except the one in the medical room. We whisper as quietly as we can to Bill and Oakley to start grabbing bedsheets so we can prison-escape our way out the window. It's all going okay.

Then Oakley accidentally tugs too hard on a bedsheet and the metal springs creeeeeeeeak.

BAM! The creature slams into the door to the desk room with the force of a small car, cracking it.

Fuck stealth, we start booking it, trying to jury-rig an escape. Hearing our commotion and knowing that prey is inside, the creature slams HARDER on the door and starts to break it in despite all the furniture piled against it, despite the very heavy wooden door. Allister has the shotgun loaded and the splintered stock removed. I've got my .45. We’re ready to lay some hurt. Then the creature cracks the top half of the door in and we get a look at it.

It stands the size of a racehorse; pitch black fur that seems to absorb light, four eyes set on the sides of its skull, massive claws and a vertically set maw that is filled with enough vicious teeth to make a shark jealous.

We had to roll composure not to shit ourselves. Fortunately our saves are aided by the reaction of SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT NOW!

Allister blasts it in the face with both barrels of buckshot and the creature gets knocked back. By then, Oakley has noticed that the window has a steel cable that runs across to the low rooftop of the next building (we're 4th floor or so). Oakley and Bill use their sheets to zipline across to the other roof. That’s when Allister and I quickly notice something.

The creature is getting back up. And it is Pissed.

Pic related, the drawings or DM made of the creature.

>>

-He was an absolute master of mood right from the beginning and kept it up, even slamming his fist against the whiteboard, making half of us jump, when the creature hit the door, changing music to match our heartrates. He played us like instruments.

Before our eyes a dark mist hisses from the bullet wounds, pushing the bullets and buckshot out of the creature’s skin, repairing itself at a ridiculous rate right in front of our eyes. I promptly unload half of my magazine into the creature and score a hit that snaps its leg, breaking bone and making a nice hole. And as we start beating a retreat to the window, Alex gets a good look at the creature's leg being snapped back into place by black tendrils. Yelling obscenities to go faster, Alex has to wait for Allister to zip line away, then dives for the window.

And the creature leaps over and chomps down on my leg and drags me down, a foot from the window.
>>
>>27673507
DM is actually just a college student like me, and originally wanted to get into the art program for his drawings, but when they rejected him, went into creative writing, and has turned his powers to good...or evil, depending on your view point
>>
>>27673517

loose a leg, shit yourself, bleed out in terror.
>>
Now, as everyone in this kind of situation knows, when you have a loaded .45 and a huge eldritch horror gnawing on your leg you SHOOT IN THE FUCKING FACE. Which Alex did, emptying the rest of his magazine into the creature's face and fortunately getting it to recoil and let go. Thanks to some great constitution (to ignore the pain) and dexterity (to make the jump) rolls, Alex leaps out the window, ziplines across and lands on the nearby roof and promptly screams as blood soaks his leg and he tries to reload his pistol. Bill fortunately has some medical knowledge and uses the sheets to temporarily patch me up.

And then we notice the creature looking at us from the window.

Just as we start to feel smug, it takes a few steps back and LEAPS OUT THE GODDAMN WINDOW.

Our DM rolls and tells us that it falls just barely short...

..but not short enough that its claws don't get purchase on the edge of the lip and start to haul itself up.

It snarls at us.

We do the honorable thing. The right thing. The brave thing.

We run like little bitches.
>>
>>27673507
>poor man's Awake

I don't think Awake ever did drawings, though.
>>
>>27673550

But he did break into their apartments and leave ransom notes taped to their ceiling fans.
>>
Down the stairs we go, locking the metal door behind us just in time for the creature to slam into it, bending the metal. We go as fast as we can down the stairs as it bends the door in with the force until it can look in. It makes eye contact with Allister, staring at him and then...leaves the door.

Bill has me thrown over his shoulder as we run through an abandoned office building of some kind, going as fast as we can. Through the rooms we go until a loud crash announces that the creature just broke through the windows of the room we just left and sure enough it looks around the corner at us.

The chase is on.

We haul ass, Oakley running off ahead because he's damn fast. Bill and Allister frantically slam doors in the creatures face and we get really fucking lucky sometimes with those doors slowing the creature down because I can't hit shit bouncing around on Bill's shoulder with my .45. It was round after round of scraping away by the skin of our teeth and the luck of the dice gods. Our DM was not going to pull any punches and we were scared shitless.

Oakley makes it to the bottom floor and sees windows between him and the street where our van is parked. So he tries to throw a chair through it.

It bounces off.
>>
Oakley spends the next couple rounds as we're catching up with him trying his scrawny best to break the window before saying 'fuck it' and diving through.

And critfails his roll.

He ends up with glass through both of his hands, on the ground in agony. We round the corner and see him go through the window and hear screams of agony. The window isn't big enough for me and Bill, so he keeps running until he comes to a door…not 50 feet further down the hallway. He kicks it open and we haul ass for our van. Oakley gets there first, despite his hands, but can't get his key out.

Allister runs up and rolls a dexterity check to get the key in the van door to unlock and get us in the van. He nails the roll so well the DM ruled that he -threw- the goddamn key from 5 feet away into the lock to save time before unlocking and getting us all in.
>>
We drive away as the creature busts out of the window and glares at us as we drive away.

Then suddenly it's gone, vanished in the dark.

Alex's leg is mauled, Oakley has shards of glass through his hands...we're heading to the hospital and as Alex pops some pain meds we found in the medical room. We begin coming up with our alibi as to what happened.

Vicious dogs some gangbangers had chained up; just an investigation gone a little sideways.

No biggie, right?

Right…

And thus concluded session one.

--This is, unfortunately, as far as I got with my pre-typed shit, so post speed will now greatly reduce. I'll try to write out what happened in the next session before I consider quitting for the evening.--

Session two begins with us finishing our drive to the hospital where Oakley has his hands de-glassed and Alex is given lots of strange looks ("it was a big dog, okay?"). The rest of the team stays with us for the night and in the morning we're released, our wounds heavily bandaged and Alex limping along with the help of crutches.

We treat ourselves to some breakfast burritos for a job gone FUBAR and return to our shitty firehouse-turned-detective agency to report our findings and go over what we have. We call up the phone number we were given by our anonymous employer and we're answered by a pleasant receptionist, who hooks us over to strange distortion-voice guy. Relay facts, money transferred to our accounts. Ballin'.

Now Oakley can focus on continuing his 'ALIENS...I mean...OCCULT' fapfest in earnest, now that he has access to the internet. He spends much of this session trying to decipher the marks and writings.
>>
>>27673735
Take your time OP, /tg/ ain't going anywhere
>>
And by no means is this a bunch of 'roll for knowledge' and the DM feeding us information. Instead, those rolls merely give Oakley what clues to search for on the actual internet. The player for Oakley is a fun guy and is shitting himself just as hard as the character he's portraying, as he finds more clues and understanding in what he's looking at.

He fiddles with his laptop, we ask questions, much investigating is going on. We get the name of a professor at the local university, a man named Loditz, who apparently has taught classes on subjects of the likes of which we are staring at.

And then Oakley's player looks up, eyes wide.

"No..."

We all stared at him. The DM just gave an amused smile.

"Were....they trying to make a Philosopher's Stone?"

The DM just smiles wider...and shrugs.

As a rabid Hunter player and DM you have my attention.
>>
We all load up into our trusty POS van and drive out to the local University to pay Loditz a visit, since attempts to call him thus far have failed. It's the middle of the day and classes are in session. We walk (or limp in Alex's case) to the history department and ask the receptionist if we could have directions to Loditz's office. She tells us where, and that by his schedule he should be in. Up to the second floor we go and find his office and give a knock.

No answer.

We knock again. Again no answer. But this time, a couple of us faintly hear a sound coming from inside. A very faint scraping noise. We hear it a couple times.

I fear the worse, that the knowledge he had, had driven him to suicide and that he had hung himself in his room. Expecting the worse, we have Bill, the big black man, kick the door in (it's not breaking and entering if we're saving a life!).

Inside we find the usual cluttered office, papers covered in grades, computer desk, couple chairs, man all in black climbing out the window, couple of bookshelves covered in books and...

Wait...was that a fucking ninja who just jumped out the window with a bag full of stuff?
>>
We now have a new objective: Catch this sonuvabitch!!

Oakley and Allister head for the window and find a service ladder has been propped up against the window and the thief is already almost to the bottom. Alex looks at Bill, who yells, "Hop on!" Back the way we came, Bill carries Alex like a crippled backpack, hauling ass.

The chase is on, with us as the pursuers this time.

We all hit the ground running and take off after this rather small man in black who is running like absolute hell away from us. Knowing that he's slowing Bill down, Alex jumps back off once they're outside and Bill uses his athleticism to give chase. Alex just hobbles along as fast as he can.

Then the bell chimes the hour...and students start pouring out of their classes as the thief sprints through the center of campus.
>>
>>27673550
Who is Awake?
>>
As we run/hobble after the man, we realize that we're passing the parking lot where our van is parked. So Oakley peels off pursuit and heads for the van, jumps in, and goes where no van should go.

Through the center of that quickly crowding campus.

About this time, Bill has reeled in the distance at about the time that the chase takes them to the center square of the campus, next to a big pretty fountain. He rolls to tackle and gets enough successes to bring the thief to the ground, but he's a slippery sonuvabitch and he wriggles out of Bill's grip.

Then he pulls a revolver out of his vest.

We're all thinking he's going to pop a cap in our black friend when he aims up at the sky and fires off three rounds, sending the crowd around into an absolute panic. Then he takes off running again.

Bill and Allister are in close pursuit, with Oakley in the van quickly catching up as well. And Alex just hobbles along, occassionally biting back the pain enough to manage what might be considered a run from a certain warped perspective.
>>
>>27673976

Awake (is that three? three should summon him) was a crazy motherfucker. He suffered from intense nightmares that gave him terrible insomnia. He decided to put these horrifying visions to good use by running Don't Rest Your Head for his friends.

The thing is, Awake was a crazy motherfucker with a checkered past. He broke into the player's apartments and invited them to this game by taping ransom notes to their ceiling fans. He left them all little trinkets and other creepy shit. Then he ran the game in an abandoned hospital.

Fucked up dude. Crazed genius.
>>
Oakley is the first to catch up to the thief this time and tries to door-check this speedy little shit as he drives by, but botches his roll. The thief runs for the large flight of stairs that leads down to the main parking lot and heads down them. As Bill and Allister get to the stairs as well, they realize there is a white, unmarked van idling in the parking lot, another person in black waiting in the driver's seat. Bastard has friends and we know we need to end this chase now.

That's when Oakley miserably fails his drive check.

And drives our van at full speed right on down those stairs, catching more air than that van rightfully should ever take in its lifetime. He slams down hard on the ground and he wasn't wearing his goddamn seat belt, so his forehead makes very intimate acquaintance with the steering-wheel, knocking him out cold.

With Oakley out, and knowing the thief is about to get away, Bill rolls a brilliant success on his chasing, and another to football tackle the thief to the pavement, a dozen yards from the waiting van.

Oakley struggles to regain conciousness and does so for a moment, enough to aim our ruined van in the direction of the enemy van and gun it. Well...mostly aim...he ends up passing back out and slamming headlong into a parked car, again slamming his head into the steering wheel and putting him out completely. This is when the back sliding door of the getaway van opens up and reveals three more men in black, black boots, cargo pants, jackets, and balaclavas. One of them is a big guy. Well...big guy would be an understatement. He unfolds himself to an almost seven foot tall height as he steps out of the vehicle and moves to engage the wrestlers on the pavement. Another Asshole in Black pulls out a huge ass hunting rifle, most likely .30-06 from the look of it.

No more flight. It's fight time.

Allister takes cover behind our ruined van and opens fire, trying to pin down the Assholes in Black and in reply the enemy sniper puts a massive hole in the engine block a foot in front of Allister's face. Bill grapples desperately with the thief when the giant of a man walks over and lands a devastating elbow that drops our own big man like a sack of potatoes. More gunfire is exchanged with no visible hits and the seven foot giant grabs tiny thief man and throws him in the back of the van and jumps in.

Alex arrives about then, just in time to watch the thieves speed away and memorize their license plate. But they're already too far gone for anything else, and Oakley is a mess.

We lost this round.

The only way to botch in nWoD is if you need to roll a Chance Roll. Read as, NEVER!

Or am I drunk?
>>
>>27674121
Keep it coming!
>>
>>27674056
This is nWoD. Our DM plays very loose with the rules. Hell, combat seems to be completely done by his homebrew style. Three of us didn't know that of course, we were focused more on the storyline than exact rules lawyering. Much was given for 'rule of cool' over 'rule of law'.
>>
>>27674145
I'm the botch anon. He probable use one of these:

Each natural 1 remove one sucess, if it goes negative, botch.
or
If you fail the roll and have at least one natural 1, botch.

Both are cool in my book. I only use the first with natural 10 count as two success, so it keep the math clean (3 dice avg one success).
>>
>>27674128

If the dice gods hate you and you roll more 1's and no successes you get fucked up with a Crit fail.
>>
We pulled Oakley into the back, checked he wasn't dead, and knew we had to get him proper medical attention. Bill's first aid doesn't cover severe head trauma. So we have to return, again, to the hospital. And this time, Alex knows he has to fess up to what they did. They just instigated a gun battle on a college campus! He calls up his connections in the police agency as they head to the hospital, recites the license plate of the van the thieves were making their getaway in, and tells the detective (a proper police detective, not us schmucks) he called the cliffnotes version.

To say the detective is not happy is a complete understatement.

But Oakley's head injury is priority, so we get him admitted to the emergency room and wait with our tails between our legs as the cops show up so we can explain ourselves.

And this is where we end session two. I think I've got one more session's recounting still in me tonight.
>>
>>27674179
We used the second of these.
>>
>>27674196
I use the normal rules and the dice still want us to die horribly.
>>
>>27674179
>>27674196
>>27674181
Yeah, I like this rules when I don't want to mess with the rules much. My problem with it is that you have more the double of the chance to botch instead of simple fail. Basically, if you fail, be ready to soak a botch.

Not a big problem, since most of the time you rolling 5+ dice, that mean more then 80% of at least one success.
>>
The next session starts with us being relieved of our firearms and driven down to the local PD for interrogation. Fortunately we're all put in the same room. After a period of waiting, a lieutenant walks in, and Alex knows he's a total dick, so we know this isn't going to go smoothly. It doesn't.

I do my best to explain exactly what we did, giving the reasons we broke into Loditz's office, the reason we chased the man through the campus, and exactly who shot what and where. The LT obviously thinks we're more full of bullshit than an entire mountain of manure. He even thinks -we- are the ones who shot first.

We point out that the thief used a revolver near the fountain, firing three rounds before Bill knocked it away (forgot about that fact when writing about the scuffle). We even had a tally of how many rounds Allister used.

All we get in response is a sneer and the LT telling us that he has three witnesses that pinpointed US as the ones who fired first, no revolver was found, and three 9mm shell casings from Allister's gun were found by the fountain, and the rest found down by the parking lot.

We stick firm to our story and we're stuck sitting after the LT leaves, awaiting our demise, when in sweeps my detective friend and a lawyer my character knows. They cry bullshit on how we and the case were treated and we're hauled out of the police station to get us home, told not to speak another word to those corrupt assholes. We don't look a gift horse in the mouth and go alone.

awwwww yee, shit's goin' down.

Now, my memory is pretty spotty at these points, since a couple of the evening events kind of blurred together. It's been almost a year since the game ran.

After getting out of the police station we head back to the hospital first to check up on Oakley, who has iirc a Grade 3 concussion from his forehead/steering-wheel love affair. We're fortunately able to convince the doctors to let him out, because he wants to continue his research back home.

We get home and I'm sure we found things that I can't remember, but the biggest thing is a letter in our shitty mailbox. It's absolutely beautiful stationary and looks like it was made by a master of calligraphy using in of rich, shiny gold. It's an invitation to a joint called Pergatory by a person named Al. Inside are four pins (the symbol of which I can't remember off the top of my head and I can't find my notebook) that he says will get us into the place. We're to meet around 10-11pm, and it's only about 3, so we have lots of time to kill.

It's about this time we all realize we have ten grand in our bank accounts now. You know what that means!

Shopping spree!!
>>
>>27674299
I want to say that this game went about 8 sessions in total. I'm currently playing in a 3.5e DnD game also run by this DM. The mood isn't the same, but it's still one of the most interesting stories, and the most fun I've ever had playing any game in my life.

Oakley, by now, is singlemindedly focused on figuring out what the alchemical array was trying to make, so he starts using what connections he knows to start ordering shit, stuff like pure led, saltpeter, distilled water, beakers, vials, mixing bowls, propane torches and all other manner of items for your budding mad scientist.

Bill is fine with what he's got, but Allister wants to repair the over-under shotgun he found in session one with a proper stock, and we need to find replacements for the firearms that the police impounded as evidence, so he and I take a trip to the local Guns-R-Us and start browsing. Before we go, though, Oakley asks for us to get him a cane sword. We shrug, because why the hell not! and continue on our way. Allister puts the shotgun in for repairs and picks himself up a nice taser, the kind that shoots wires and is cartridge reloaded.

Alex goes and buys himself an AR-15 semi-auto rifle and -lots- of ammunition.

Once loaded, we return home to get ready to visit Purgatory. It's decided that Alex will stay with the van, because he can't run, while the others go in.

Just as we're leaving, Bill thinks he spots something. Something big and dark in the alleyway across the street from our firehouse. We drive away extra quickly. Only the dicegods and our DM knew what was in store for us.

What are the gun policy in US? I'm foreign.

Can you simple buy an AR-15 in a store?!
>>
>>27674497

Wal-Mart sells hunting rifles. I don't know how hard they are to get, but they're there.

Dexterity is a stat, though, and Stamina is easy to mix up with Constitution, especially if you play a lot of D&D.
>>
>>27674497
yeah. Any store worth its shit/FFL will have a few AR-15s, and a ton of everything else too.

Dexterity IS a stat. Why would you think it wasn't?

We arrive that night, the streets are deserted and quiet in this part of town, but then that seems par for the course around this city. The address seems to be down an alleyway, so we park the van at the mouth of it and leave Alex in the driver seat with his new AR to be guard and getaway driver. The others head into the alleyway.

A ways in they're stopped by a homeless man, who begs them for some money for a bite to eat. Allister takes pity on him and is about to hand him money, when the hobo suddenly spots the pins they all sport on their collars. He immediately straightens up and apologizes to us 'esteemed guests' for the ruse. It is meant to 'keep out the riffraff'. He directs us to a short little staircase down to a doorway with the logo and words 'Purgatory' written there and returns to his post. Inside the atmosphere is dark and warm, full of rich woods and the faint sound of a mournful blues band.

A man waits just inside, dressed in a very fine tailored suit, next to a wall of drawers. He asks us to relief all of our weapons. When one of us tries to sneak a knife by, he politely 'reminds' them of the item and the team is forced to give up all of their weapons, which are tucked into various cubbies.

And so into Purgatory they walk and find themselves in the thick, mysterious atmosphere of the strangest club they've ever seen.
>>
>>27674497

AR-15's are marketed as hunting rifles, because we're insane.
>>
>>27674524
Stamina and Composure check if it makes you feel better. I haven't played WoD since this game almost a year ago and didn't have my sheet out when i wrote this. My apologies if you think this is made up, but I only wish I could make some of this shit up.

>>27674497
The reason I even considered this is because I have a friend in the Marine Corps who got out of boot camp and immediately blew some of his paycheck on going out and buying an AR-15. Walked out with it that same day. Bought a shotgun the same way a couple weeks later. We also had a gunstore nearby that sold all manner of guns, including various 'assault rifle' style rifles.

I live in Brazil and lived for one year in USA. I didn't see any weapon, but I was living in a College small city.

My dream is living again (for real) in USA. But still, I think it is a "little" fucked up the idea that I can go to a general store and buy a AR-15 just cos.

The club is full of the strangest assortment of people they've seen in one place. From businessmen and women, to punk rockers, to what look like ren-fair attendees in full attire. They're all bunched into their cliques around the room, drinking and eating and chatting away quietly while the blues band on the small stage plays away, filling the air with their slow, sorrowful notes. As per the instructions on our cards, the party approaches the barkeep and asks to see Al and show him the invitations. He tells them someone will be down to retrieve them in a bit. So the team orders a couple drinks (do they ever need them), and wait until they're summoned. When they do go up, they climb up some stairs to the doorway to another room, where a bear of a man is squeezed into a finely tailored suit. Shaggy hair, beard, big and muscly, he looks uncomfortable in the suit, but politely walks us in.

Our DM cuts the blues music the haunting sound of a single cello playing, slow and somber. The three men see an absolutely gorgeous woman in a fine, shimmering dress, her hair like rich fire. She slowly pulls the bow back and forth on the cello she plays, finishing her song before carefully tucking the cello away and smiling at the party and introduces herself as Al. The owner of this establishment.

Oh my god I am so happy to see this going up. I was the guy playing Allister, and I will second that I think this is the best campaign in any system that I have ever played. Our GM is a master of storytelling and atmosphere.

Also if you want to get some more of the effect while reading this, I will try to post some of the music he used, starting with this, which to me almost became the theme music of the campaign

Conversation back and forth ensues, with Al giving amused praise for the whole debacle at the college campus. She wants to know who we work for and what we're searching for Loditz for. I don't remember when, but we had learned that our employer went by the name 'Anubis', but since we had already been paid for our investigation of the hotel, we weren't really on their payroll anymore, more out to find out what the sam hill is going on around here.

During the conversation the matter of the creature that attacked us comes up and Al turns to her burly subordinate. He tells us that he's faintly heard rumours of such a creature, called a Seeker. When asked if there's a way to kill them he shakes his head and shrugs and tells us that the only known confirmed kill of a Seeker was when an Army unit encountered one in Iraq. It took an entire platoon of soldiers, and the main gun from an M1A2 Abrams tank, as well as running it over a few dozen times to pulp it before it was dead.

Unfortunately guns'r'us don't sell Abrams tanks...

The conversation continues and Al eventually tells us that she wants our help in making sure Prof. Loditz is safe and that she had last heard that he had been taken to a lumber mill past the outskirts of town and if we hurry, we might find him. We say our thanks and off the party went.

However...before the party talked to Al, another woman down in the club had been hitting on Oakley (Vice: Lust. Ahhh-yeaaah)....so something happens before we can leave...

Yo. This is a pretty decent link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyUwg2fBg3k

Also, if ever in doubt, just look up "Relaxing sounds of _____"

Works nearly everytime for whatever you want. Also, the website Rainymood.com is just simply awesome for rain sound effects, and it's set to simply keep looping infinitely and seamlessly (if 10 hours wasn't long enough for you).

Enjoy reading the rest of our little horror story, it's fun to see my story re-told =).

Either because he figures he might die soon, or because he's a horny, charismatic sonuvabitch, Oakley peels off and tells the others to go on ahead, that he'll catch up. If he's not out in 15 minutes, to go back in after him. Allister and Bill shrug and nod and head out while Oakley makes a beeline for that hot babe he had been flirting with earlier. Massive flirting, and promise for more, ensues and she all but drags him to the bathroom and begins making out with him hotly. Then she looks him deep...deep in the eyes....and everything fades to black.

Outside, we wait patiently our 15 minutes, then get really worried and go back in, Alex included. When we get back inside we find Oakley, sitting in a booth, all alone, looking disheveled, a little pale, and he's got the silliest damn grin on his face. The motherfucker is practically delirious on endorphins. Annoyed (and maybe a little jealous) we haul his ass out of the club, gather our weapons, shove him into the van and drive off, heading for that lumber mill.

And that is where I shall finish this tale for this evening. Perhaps tomorrow night I will continue the story as the plot thickens even more.
>>
>>27674779
It should be noted, that after this session ended, the player of Oakley asked, OOC, "So...what exactly did I just have sex with?"

The response: "...I don't know, I'll have to think about that!"

Thank you for joining me in listening to my tale, /tg/. I know these recounts cannot do justice to the atmosphere and adrenaline we felt, but it feels good to let others know of the things that we did and were put through.

Rest vigil, /tg/.

Yes, but you must pass a background check that proves your are not a felon of any sort and that you have had zero issues with domestic abuse/violence. Some states have waiting periods of a few days that begin when you pass the check and some states let you walk with what you want right then.

Fully automatic weapons, silencers/suppressors, short barrels, and similar destructive devices require ATF paperwork that currently takes about 8 months to 1 year to complete.

GM: I knew that when we did the campaign, and we actually talked about it for about an hour at the time. In the end, due to the nature of the WoD game itself (and my almost ridiculously hard homebrew style I do for damage) I didn't want to break "realism" BUT I also realized that the players NOT getting an upgrade to equipment would result in... well... all of them probably just dying and/or a party wipe (you'll see why in the next couple posts...).

Also, bigger badder weapons are always fun. and fun is good. Besides, new shiny weapons made the players more confident and willing to hop into danger... which is what I wanted them to keep doing.

In the end, the reason why they were able to get ANYTHING at all, was because the store owner of the small dingy gun-store they went to was a little shady and they were able to convince him to sell under the table. Also, one of the characters actually did put in the paperwork for a revolver.

So, to recap all this. These gun purchases were essentially completely illegal.

Just to clear up any questions on this =)

Sincerely the GM,
-TheBastardThatGaveThesePeopleNightmares
