Hey, and we're back! Hopefully all cooled off from the events last week, so let's get back in VMQ!

Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

You are LUCAS WILLIAMS, a member of the mercenary company Demons of Randgriz and a graduate from its elite TIER ONE Program. You are now part of the elite, but inexperienced WRAITH TEAM, consisting of you and your fellow classmates from training.

After a grueling year of training and quick battle to get rid of some troublesome pirates harassing Gallia's northern coast, you and Wraith Team have found yourselves transferred to the exotic land of San Salvacion, an entire ocean away from Gallia. You've been brought in to help the beleaguered country suppress the rebels that oppose its rule, as well as counter any possible Erusean aggression from the South.

Unfortunately, the action started much sooner than you thought it would when your base was ambushed literally almost the moment you set foot in it. While the attackers were repulsed, the attack has left you and your squad a bit shaken that presumably poorly armed and organized rebels could strike at the heart of San Salvacion's military power in the south so easily.

Unfortunately, it seems the situation is getting more and more complicated as more players in this conflict begin to reveal themselves, such as Emmerian special forces, Imperial weapon smugglers, unscrupulous rival mercs, and more...

However, now you were in caught in a situation that nothing in the Academy could train you for, and Mom had been spending your entire life trying to prepare you for, yet you find yourself distressingly at a loss at how to deal with.

A relationship.

Falynn, who as of yesterday, was now your girlfriend, snores softly beside you, her head laying on your shoulder. You're rather amazed she's able to sleep amid all the rocking the the Skyranger is experiencing due to the turbulence, but you suppose she really needed the rest after what she had to go through.

The rest of the Wraiths seemed pretty supportive of your relationship, or at the very least they were ambivalent about it. Charlotte, Sparky, MK, and Bragg were firmly in support. Runaround and Edwin were largely indifferent. Morgan seemed to be unsure of what to think and Lucina just smiles and congratulates you. The only member of the team who seemed against it at all was Simo, though all he did was just grunt and warn you not to let your hormones compromise the mission, whatever that meant.

Anyways, you and the whole team were tagging along with Hudson as he and his team were bringing the intel they gathered back to San Salvacion City. Apparently, the documents were heavily encrypted and the closest facility with the resources to crack it was the Emmerian Embassy.

Menendez, in his infinite wisdom, decided this was a good chance to give Wraith Team some R&R and attached the team as an "honor guard". However, unofficially, you basically had a weekend pass in place that wasn't endless jungle for once.

By your calculation, you should be landing pretty soon, but you still feel like doing something to pass the time. You could probably try asking somebody for relationship advice while Falynn is asleep, or talk to Simo, Bragg, or Hudson about the mission, or something.

That pastebin inspired me to write something. It's only the intro paragraph because I am ADD as fuck and can't focus on writing.

As he sprinted down a hallway, Lucas noticed something. For the first time in his life, he was knew true fear. Everything he had ever faced, everything he ever dreaded paled in comparison to this. Reaching the end of the hall, he turns the corner and takes shelter in one of the rooms. Quickly shutting the door, he slumps down against the wall, out of breath. He was not been running for his life. No, he was running harder than that. To be caught was a fate far worse than death. There was a predator out there, and he was the prey. Chequita was on the prowl.

Questers, there is something I have to get off my chest that has been there since last thread.

I could have broken the tie, but the fool that I was, I fell asleep at my desk. It was only 2 hours later when I awoke and was greeted with the horror that I missed the vote. For the past week, I've felt the guilt of letting down the rest of the girls, being a fan of Morgan myself.
However, I am not begging for tg's forgiveness nor a revote from Merc.

I present myself bare to ask of all of you to have our squad get a good ending.
When I slowly read through Merc's post, my heart sank further when I realized that I missed a tie breaking vote. Whether for better or worse, I dare not wish to find out.

So my plea to the people of this quest, of all fandoms. Please, give them all a life worth living.

>Get Falynn help if she needs any and treat her with love, as well as respect her for her own abilities.
>Help Mary-Kate find her one true love.
>Talk to Charlotte more (seriously).
>Hang out with Runaround and Bragg more (don't drink).
>Get Simo to stop viewing Morgan as a little sister and ask for Morgan's past (her past may bite us in the ass if we ignore it).
>For Morgan, find out the truth about her past, and if possible, reconcile with her parents, get her bounty removed, or just give her a form of closure.
>Finally for Lucas, don't lose that optimism. The world really needs people like him, and it would truly be a waste for him to lose it. Should Lucas succumb to rage, DON'T let him take it out on his friends and allies physically, emotionally, or sexually, etc.

You think that's bad? I just caught up with the quest after falling behind after the first third of the first quest.

Shit, I'm just glad Ol' Jager didn't get iced somewhere along the line because we couldn't herd enough cats to get something done. The vicious arguments caused my hiatus, after all. Well, and the fact that I was usually the one causing the vicious arguments.

This is Valk Mercs Quest! There was literally waifuing from the first thread, where do you think you are!

Hell, Jager's backstory in the first quest had a literal built in waifu. Not the one we ended up going with, to my inner rage, but it was there, nonetheless.

Now that you think about it, who had the first girl title in the quest? I'm not sure if it's Morgan or Lucina.

Lucina, IIRC she was literally the first person we interacted with.
>>
>>27686326

Merc doesn't really roll with high kill counts, man. I wouldn't worry. Well, not too much.

For example, I was 100% certain Karla was doomed from thread one and yet she lived and generations of her line continue.
>>
>>27686337
Luciana was the first we saw.
>>
>>27686337

Lucina
>>

yes it does, thus the struggle between karla and sam back in Vqm. I accepted that since the relationship progressed this way.
>>
>>27686373

Yesss....

Unless the first girl we played with as kids were the twins.

At whixh point they become first girls.
>>
>>27686399
If that was the case, we would have lost Faylnn during her side quest (Should have voted for edwin if it was goign to turn out like this)
>>
Now that you think about it, how old was everyone when they met for the first time?
>>
>>27686432
I imagine they hung around each other fairly young. after all it seems everyone was an instructor living in the Castle or near it's grounds
>>
>>27686399

Waifus apparently.

More seriously, I always played VMQ because I found Merc's writing charming and enjoyed the community. The action and planning are just a bonus.

Frankly, having QM'ed before, I know you don't want to be too tough on people. They should think you are always willing to kill people off, but you should very rarely have to go through with it. Though to be honest, I was too much of a coward to ever go through with it myself.

"Um, I'm totally asking you for relationship advice." You say glumly.

"Okay, I'm going to the other side of the plane now." Edwin sighs as he begins to stand up.

"Wait! Edwin, you're my only hope!" You beg.

"Not listening."

"Okay Edwin, I didn't want to do this." You turn the other way. "Hey Sparky! I think Edwin wants to talk to you about something!"

"Huh? Like what?" Sparky turns from that little mystery conversation she was having with Charlotte and MK. God knows what they were discussing...

"Nothing! He just misheard!" Edwin laughs awkwardly and plants his butt back down on the seat.

"Okay, fine! But what makes you think I know any more about girls than you do?!" Edwin hisses.

"Well, I sorta figured you'd know something, considering you're a freaking genius, and all that time you spend with Sparky..."

"It's only because we're fellow lancers." Edwin scowls and smacks you on the back of head. "This is honestly the best I can do for you."

Edwin then hands you a book and glance at it.

RELATIONSHIPS FOR DUMMIES

Huh, so you guess that was a thing. But wait a minute...

"Edwin, why would you have a book like this on you?" You ask.

"No reason." Edwin says just a bit too quickly.

"Alright boys and girls, we are on approach to our destination. Sit yer asses down and buckle up because it's gonna be a rough landing!" You hear Barfbag announce.

"Mmmmmm." Falynn groans as she starts waking up. "Mrning Lucas... what's that you're holding?"

take the firing pin block our of the main guns breech block and you can't fire the main gun

but getting that firing pin block out is fucking hard, requires full disasembly of the main gun breech and mount, usually means the turret comes off the hull, and the gun/mount/breech are removed from the turret.

or you could try throwing rocks down its barrel and wait for it to fire, but that hasn't worked too well for the FAS tards who tried it

>Holy shit I can actually post now!

"Oh... it's nothing!" You laugh awkwardly as you quickly stow it in your pack, out of her sight. You don't really want to know what Falynn would think if you had to resort to a book to figure out how to act around her.

"Hm... okay." Falynn blinks in confusion when the plane suddenly shudders as it hits the pavement, signifying that you've landed.

With that, Hudson and his team are immediately out the door and headed for the nearest vehicle. Whatever they found must've been REALLY important. You and the Wraiths, however, get out at a more leisurely pace. You help Falynn down the ladder.

"T-thanks." Falynn squeaks.

"No problem." You grin.

Falynn quickly turns away.

"Okay, Wraiths." Simo leaps down from the door, grabbing your attention. "I've got some good news and some bad news."

"Of course." Charlotte rolls her eyes.

"The good news is, you're pretty much free to do what you want until Hudson finishes his business here. I've already set up lodging at one of the nearby hotels." Simo passes out cards with the address of said hotel. "The bad news is, no gear, no weapons."

"What?!" Pretty much everybody cries. Separating a soldier from their gear was a grave sin, especially in times of conflict.

"I'm sorry, orders straight from the top." Simo sighs. "The tensions with Erusea are already pretty bad, and the San Salvacion government doesn't want their people panicking. A squad of heavily armed Gallians waltzing around on the city streets isn't going to help that. Casual uniforms and sidearms only. That's an order."

"Yes sir." You sigh. There wasn't really much you could do about, was there?

With that, everybody else caves in as well. For armor, the best you could bring were tactical vests, and Simo made absolutely sure you were only carrying pistols. "Concealed firearms would only make things worse." He said.

Bragg, understandably, was the least happy with this arrangement, and he grumped and pouted like a spoiled child, much to Simo's consternation.

"You're a grown man, Bragg. Can you please try to act like one, for once?"

"No." Bragg says flatly. "I'm gonna noogie you SO HARD when we get back to base..."

"Yeah yeah." Simo shakes his head. "Also, one more thing. No drunken antics, or fights, or massive property damage, alright? We haven't saved this city from imminent doom yet, so we don't exactly have a free pass on that sort of stuff. Remember, you're representing the Demons and Gallia out there. Please please PLEASE don't make us look bad."

"Yes sir!" Everybody affirms.

With that, everybody seems to all go off their separate ways. Falynn tugs at your arm.

Falynn waves down a cab, which seems to be extremely common in this city. You then remember that San Salvacion sits on the what was likely the most important waterway in the hemisphere. Of course the city was going to be a major metropolitan port.

Falynn whispers the destination to the driver, who nods in recognition and immediately floors the pedal, sending both you and Falynn tumbling back into the seat. Once things stabilize, you can see Falynn staring at her right arm in concern. From the looks of it, it seemed to be tensing up involuntarily or something. Either way it seemed to make Falynn concerned.

"Hey Falynn, are you okay?" You ask

"Y-yeah. It's nothing! You know, residual pain is a common side effect of ragnaid use!" Falynn laughs nervously. You can tell it wasn't quite so simple.

"Falynn..."

You gently hold her hand with yours and you can feel Falynn's arm loosen up at the contact. You see her sigh relief.

"Falynn, what REALLY happened on that mission?" You ask.

"H-how much did the others tell you?" She asks nervously.

"Only that you got hurt. They didn't give any details. I assume because you asked them not to?"

"Yeah..." Falynn sighs and slips her hand out of yours, and looks at it sadly. "That guy I fought, Kravchenko, was a real monster. He had so many chances to finish me off but he kept the whole thing going like it was some sick game. He just... broke my arm like a twig and-"

At this point Falynn's arm starts tensing up again but Falynn manages to forcibly loosen it up again.

"Is it all right? Did it heal correctly?" You ask, concerned.

"Yeah, the doctors said it healed up just fine. The pain's mostly psychological. You know how amputees suffer from phantom pain? It's something like that." Falynn sighs. "It shouldn't a problem in combat, though. It only ever seems to crop up when there's nothing going on."

"Still, I think you should get it looked at. I'm not exactly an expert on this whole thing, but I think maybe Menendez can help you. It seems like something he'd have experience with."

"Yeah... I'll think about it." Falynn nods, and then blinks. "Agh, why are we talking about something so gloomy!? Did you tell your parents about us yet?"

"Erm, not really." You shrug. "Didn't exactly have time to really write, or anything. Why?'

"Well..." Falynn shrugs. "Char already wrote it up in our letter home. She's actually off delivering it right now. I kind of didn't want to give out personal details of my life to Dad, but... Char insisted."

And that is when your heart stops. All of a sudden you remember that Falynn's dad is Jager Sturmfuhrer himself, a man who made a living completely wrecking people he did not like. AND YOU WERE DATING HIS DAUGHTER.

"Oh.. that's nice." You say outwardly, but inside, you are screaming for your life.

Falynn must have felt you tense up or something because she just giggles.

"D-don't worry. If he comes for you just stick close to me. He'd never hurt me. Plus, I know his greatest weakness."

"His undying love for one his daughters?" You ask.

"Oh no, he has really sensitive shins!" Falynn says. "On good whack there with a wrench and he'll be down for HOURS."

"Falynn, I'm pretty sure a good wrench hit ANYWHERE would put a man down for hours. Maybe more than that." You respond dryly.

"Alright, we're here." The driver says, bringing the cab to a halt.

"O-oh! Here you go!" Falynn hands the driver his payment, as well as a few extra bills as a tip, though you note it was quite a large one.

"Naw, keep it." The driver passes the extra bills back to Falynn and winks. "My personal policy not to accept tips from lovebirds!"

The cab driver zooms off with a laugh, leaving the both of you standing on the sidewalk with very embarrassed looks on your faces.

"W-well at least he was nice." Falynn mumbles.

"Yeah... Anyways, where exactly did you bring me?" You wonder. A small portion of your mind always felt nervous being alone around the Twins. They definitely seemed the type to kidnap you so they could have their way with you... and your fluffy hair.

"Well, you see, I've always seen your Mom make Osean-style sweets for you and Lara and um.... I sort of wanted to try Osean-style food but I never had the chance." Falynn sighs. "My mom's too busy and Dad thinks Oseans are wussy...."

"Ah, an Osean cafe." You nod. You should've been able to tell from the smell.

"I-I did my research and everything!" Falynn says quickly. "This is apparently them most highly reviewed Osean cafe in San Salvacion!"

"Alright, I'll take your word for it." You laugh. "I guess you wanted to order the crepes? That's usually their best dish."

"Skipping straight to dessert?"

"I guess I'm more like my Mom than I like to admit." You laugh.

You both take a seat at one of the tables on the sidewalk and begin browsing the menus. There's quite a lot of people around, as well, but one person that stands out in particular is a man sitting alone at a table next to yours, in a very expensive looking suit and reading a newspaper with a cup of coffee. You sort of suspect there was something that set him apart from the other patrons, but your attention is drawn back to Falynn.

"Ummmm... Ummm.... I don't know what to order..." She squeaks.

Huh, judging from the man's accent, he was Emmerian. You wonder, maybe he was from the Emmerian Embassy Hudson was going to? Well, whatever.

You also wonder about the pineapple crepes. They were certainly unusual, but not completely unheard of. Then you remember that Lara, ever since becoming an ace had picked up a massive aversion to pineapple, which was strange since she used to love it when she was younger. When you asked her about it all she said was that "Pineapples get pilots killed." You wonder about that, but then, pilots were a superstitious bunch. Weird people, those pilots. Then again, they strap themselves to giant flammable engines that could send them plummeting to their deaths at any moment, so you guess some superstition was warranted.

But Falynn wasn't a pilot. In fact, she was nowhere near being one. What would be the harm in that?

"Yeah, that sounds good." You nod.

So, Falynn orders a pineapple crepe and you go with a more conventional strawberry one. You don't really enjoy it as much as Falynn is, though, since well, your Mom could make one that would blow this cafe into smoking crater. Heh, maybe you should have Mom make one for Falynn.

It's then that you notice a large, rectangular grey building in the distance.

"Hey, Falynn, what's that?" You ask, pointing at the building.

"Oh, that? That's the Emmerian Embassy Hudson is supposed to be going to." Falynn shrugs. "It's one of San Salvacion City's biggest landmarks, apparently. Besides the canal, of course. There's actually an entire embassy district there, with embassies from the Empire, the Federation, and even Gallia."

"Huh, I didn't know that."

"Mhm." Falynn nibbles on her crepe. "Hey.... do you mind if we swap crepes?"

>Sure why not.

As you chew on the the crepe, you realize that you've fallen for the classic "indirect kiss" maneuver that Mom had told you to watch out for. And here you are, completely falling for it.

And that glint in Falynn's eye... she did it on PURPOSE. Oh, you had to be lot more careful around her from now on...

"Hey, Lucas..." Falynn frowns, putting down the strawberry crepe. "I think something's wrong."

"Huh?" You swallow a mouthful of pineapple. "Like what?

"That van..." Falynn points to a white van that shuttles past at a fairly moderate speed. "I thought I was just seeing things, but I'm pretty sure I've seen that same van pass by us at least five times."

"Wait, what?" You say, slowly putting your crepe down as well. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah. The driver's side tail light is broken and it has no plates." Falynn frowns. "It must have been circling this block all this time. There's only one thing I can think of in that situation..."

"It's scoping something out." You narrow your eyes. "Is it after us?"

"I have no idea." Falynn sighs. "It could be use, could be someone else at this cafe, it could even be something on the other side of the block."

At that point, a white van rounds the corner. Both you and Falynn observe it carefully. You also acutely notice that the well dressed man next to you is also observing the van. It seems he's noticed it as well. It seemed innocent enough, until you realize that the passenger is toting an Imperial-made SMG...

"EVERYBODY GET DOWN!" The man yells as he kicks the table over and waves at the both of you. "Get over here!"

Without thinking, you and Falynn both dive for cover behind the suited man's table. At that moment, you can hear the loud, staccato bark that all Imperial SMGs made when they were fired, which was quickly followed by screaming as the various civilians began to flee for their lives. However, all the bullets were landing around you position, and you see the table you and Falynn were just at get shredded into splinters. However, the suited man's table holds firm, and you can actually hear the bullets pinging off of it.

Wait, that mean his table was armored.

His table was ARMORED. He had an ARMORED TABLE.

The man draws a pistol and sees your expression.

"Would you believe me if I told you that this was not the first time something like this has happened to me?" He cracks a grin.
