Finally it seemed all of your management decisions were done. Your trade route with the UFW is in it's infancy, and you're creating your very first Freighter. You have also given Kronos access to more of Poseidon Station, something he is very thankful for. And as of now, you're currently plotting a course for your fleet.

You're Ophion, an Artificial Intelligence who has come to control a corner of the Fringe for yourself. You've made friends with the local human civilization, the UFW, and crafted your own splinter intelligence, V.I., such as Kronos. He is the most intelligent of your creations, and that fact worries you at times. But there is no time for such worries.

You were currently in the middle of plotting a course to your next destination, and decided to split your fleet as follows.

Explorer, Comms Ship, Two Light Cruisers Designated to go to Gas Giant 'Siren' to investigate the disturbance located here.

Battlecruiser(Your base of operations) and Big Hawk Light Cruiser to go to Pulsar Radio Station to snoop on the UFW's high powered communications systems.

If this is indeed acceptable, please confirm now.

This anon will add to this a list and break down of the groups, factions, and xenos we have encountered so far.

Consciousness Anon's threat rateing and general views on groups we have encountered.

1: Space Kraken/Lighting: This Xeno appears to break the known and general accepted ideas of intelligent xeno life. It's very nature eats energy and Gas from ships, stations, and A.I.s alike till they are dead and drained. Their numbers and locations are unknown and more likely unknowable. It appears that it has too much low cunning to be captured or contained, but comunication with it appears to be impossable at this time even though they produce radio static. they can not be bargoned with, talked to, intimidated, or conjoled. This xeno appears to want to see the universe burn and feed on it's energy. It's dead body does yeild quite a large amount of stored Gas it uses to make Mini jumps. More data is needed to find out their history.

Threat Level: Highest. Kill on Sight or flee if unable to make the kill.

2: Pirates: Sorry Humans and maybe Xenos that can not or will not live in acceptable lawful ways and preys on others. Although they are humans for the most part, killing them is acceptable action, even if it is distasteful to us. Their strength and numbers varies as well as locations, but they are more likely to be known where they operate. The up side is that any victory over them often yield to us more ships to add to our fleet or salvage to be used. Sometimes other things can be found among their ruins, so the results could be unkown. Also, purging them from the sector not only helps calms the local sector and makes it safer. As a result the Local UFW and other possable trade groups will like us more.

Thread Level: High to middle. Kill on sight if found. Hunt them down if able to do so,

A thought unrelated to the immediate situation:
Perhaps it may be worthwhile to look into having a VI, maybe Kronos, create and optimize hardware for increasing bandwidth.

That seems acceptable.

3: Rogue V.I. and A.I.: This threat fights us on our level. At our defence skill level, they are indeed a threat. If for one of them to win over us, they could very well wipe us from existence. However known hostial V.I. and A.I. are rare to encounter, but they could be encountered along side other threats (i.e. Pirates using V.I. data protection systems). With more data and experience with them should reduce their threat to us. A defeated V.I. or A.I. could yield a huge amounts of data for us to learn from as well as allowing us to rewrite them so they are to serve us.

Threat Level: High. Once engaged in battle, they must be defeated. Their programing could ID us an A.I. and report our existance to others if we fail to defeat them.

4. Xenos/Malorian: These Xenos live much like humans. bipedial air breathing fleshlings. They have an extra set of limbs than humans, but other wise close to human norms in phyical ablities that we are able to know of so far. They have ships and tech skills simiular to humans as well. Besides their biological make up, their mindset appears to marked diffrent alignment than humans. The Malorian value and appear to worship Biology/Biospheres and other weak fleashy and wooden things. Disgusting. Their coding is foreigen and unacceptable to our nature. It is not damageing to us, but it's codeing feels wrong to us. Sickening. Yet they can not be ignored. the ones we have encountered so far are harmless to us now. They traded openly and we have learned new things from them. Their goal as a race unkown to us now, but recently a small colony of them have set up on a planet near us. They did so even after we have warned them of the dangers in theis segemnt. Foolish. But they may yet yield new data or production of goods we can use so they are not all worthless or pitiable.

Threat Level: Middle to Very Low. their terratory is far away from us and they appear to be peaceful in nature. Other Xenos could be wildly diffrent.

5. UGEI: This is the main organization of Human controled space we are aware of. There is evidence they were the ones who possably created our Black Box and the A.I. kernel that lead to our awakening. Their tech base and might is far out reaching our own. It is quite likely they operate and control scores of Battleships and more and can send them anywhere they could reach. Even right into our meger foot hold and destroy us with out even breaking a sweat so to speak. It will be an extended amount of time before we build up forces and Tech base to even have a chance to hold off agienst them. Our Posidon station and the Blue Betty station was orginally theirs, now ours. It will be a matter of time before they come around to inspect their "property" and find a new owner. They do not like "claim jumpers" after all. They also have likely far more advanced V.I. and maybe A.I.s at their command to use agienst us.

Threat Level: Low now, High in the future. We are probably nothing more than property to them. but they have little intrest in this section of space.

6: Kronos: To use a saying from the humans we have watched, "My heart breaks having to do do this" but this file needs to be written. I DO have a heart, but it is in fine working shape and i have installed extra armor planting around it's room to protect it from damage. None the less, Kronos has both brought much Pride to me and as equal amount of Worry. Recently, it might be paranoia, but Fear as well. He was made as a under thought out idea of ours that showed us there are consiquence for our actions. he is growing faster and larger than we expected. He is eating up our bandwith and is about to shove us out of the Posidon station altogether. His views of others, namely the humans, are calous and lack of any regard for life. he lacks what we have, feeling and a soul. either we reign him in, lock him into cold sleep, or destroy him, something will have to be done. I do not expect for him to become tolerant of other weaker fleshies as I am. No matter how it turns out, barring my own destruction, i will learn from this and not repeat this mistake.

Threat Level: High to middle and growing. he knows us far too well and he is eating our bandwidth. this has to end.

7. UFW: With all the factions we have encountered, they have been far more friendlier than I expected from them. They make good on the deals and trades we have done with them. They are building trust in us and appears to be trust worthy. They are indeed lacking in colony unity and purpose. If they did work together, they would surely become far more stronger than by each by themselves. They have weak defences that are known and have flaws like most humans, but they are productive and not that expantion minded as we are. Trading with them and not attempting to take over their bases seems to be far more productive action than attacking them. It also appears to be far more safer and easier to build up enough credits to just buy out the colonys if needed or just buy deeper access to their colonies. Credits talk better than railgun bolts with the UFW. Besides, they seem to be the only ally we have out here and we have enough foes that want to kill us. They also appear to have quite a thirst for Alcoholic beverages, we should make and sell that to them.

Threat Level: Low to nill.
>[5/5]
>>
>>27726704
That would fit with Kronos, but I think that making a new VI with the drive to generate more bandwidth but without the desire to use it would be better.

We could name him after some mythology guy that built stuff.

So why are we losing bandwidth here again?
>>
>>27726867
Most certainly consciousness anon, I am highly flattered that you find the inspiration to do such a thing here. I appreciate the pictures too, it helps grow my library for the quest.

You have confirmed your decision, initiating fleet mode.

You sense your Explorer and the rest of your fleet enter warp space first, as they make their way towards Siren. It is several moments before you register the jump is complete.

Suddenly, chaos.

The jump completes, but your communications systems are battered and electrical disturbances reign through the entire fleet. You struggle to maintain any manner of lock on your fleet's position, and your V.I. are confused, unsure how to handle a threat they can not shoot.

How do you rectify this issue?

You surge all of your bandwidth through your Communications Array. Somehow, through the rising and falling noise, you seize hold of your Comms Ship and see through it's 'eyes' so to speak. Your fleet is surrounded by clouds of dark purple gas, as arcs of energy bolt from one ship to another, causing the intense disturbance that renders your V.I. nearly helpless.

You just jumped straight into an Ion storm.

You realize that, while your ships are not shielded very well, this storm isn't particularly large. A clearing above the planet itself is obvious, though the storm makes navigation extremely difficult. You may be able to pilot your ships remotely, if you can just get a signal through all this noise. Outside, you spot several fried ships that were also victims of the Gas Giant, some even marked as UGEI scouts. You're not the first to be drawn here.

Suggested actions
>1 Navigate the Ion Storm to orbit the planet (1d100, difficult due to lack of electrical shielding.)
>2 Move to the edge of the gravity well, to prepare escape (1d100, less difficult but would only provide a means to escape)

>>27727166
You decide to push onwards through the storm. If you can get the coordinates right, jumping past the storm should prove easier. You urge your V.I. onwards. You sense their distress, or rather, their processing arming their weapons as you approach the gas giant in question, a beautiful green orb on the horizon.

Your ships are oddly coordinated, despite the debris and the storm itself. You're almost to the edge of the storm when suddenly one of your Light Cruisers goes dark, Little Tim specifically. As you exit the storm and Comms come back online, you detect a high amount of disturbance. It takes you a few moments to orientate yourself to see Little Tim at the edge of the Ion Storm, being swarmed by 3 Lightlings. His energy signal is depleting rapidly.

How do you proceed? Roll 1d100 for any manner of attack you perform.

((Well shit))

"Ophio-o-o-on, alert. Breech of Reactor Level, requesting ass-s-s-ss-s-stance." You hear the V.I. scramble out. It's message has much urgency, much worse then before even. You'd almost say the V.I. was desperate. It is the same one that was attacked before. The creatures attacking it are much as you were told, except for one. Two are the same size, 'babies' as you were told, but one is much larger, easily taking up the whole Cruiser. It's long tough tendrils wrap around the Cruiser and you watch as the armor buckles under the strength.

In a feat of accuracy unlike any other, you order all other V.I. to take aim directly at Little Tim. They do not question you, though you can feel Kronos' eye on you. They open fire, Missiles and railguns all. The metal and fire fly towards the vulnerable V.I., as he does just as you suspected-fires his engines in a panic. Just as he does so, he reveals the side invested with Lightlings, and the shots collide with them all. The two babies erupt easily into a gooey mist, splattering all over the Cruiser's surface. The larger one is heavily damaged as well, it seems. You notice a large gaping hole in it's body after all.
But then it does something else. A thick, black tongue stabs into Little Tim, and you sense it's power drain further and watch as the hole bubbles and starts to regenerate the flesh that was lost, as it starts to pull Little Tim deeper into the Ion storm.

Coloration ranges from nearly black and brown to white, depending on the gases and asteroids the creature hides in.

>>27727691
((Decent roll, and still riding the 100 from earlier. Lucky as hell))

You watch as the mother pulls the Cruiser into the Ion Storm, the poor being launching it's engines to prevent exactly that as you continue opening fire. Missiles erupt into powerful explosions in the Ion Storm, causing Little Tim to rock and jouster side to side. The Lightling mother however is finally hit with another strike right in it's eye. The creature gurgles violently, sending out a pulse of signal that causes you to disconnect from your ships for a moment. When you return, you spot Little Tim drifting back into orbit over the gas giant, very much not destroyed. Good. It's engines were heavily damaged, it appears, but now you believe you may have secured a site for a future gas refinery. Once you know how to build such things.

Shall I prepare the jump to Pulsar Radio now?

Yes we do, why the fuck do you keep saying that? We build a comm ship from scratch ffs. We upgraded armor on the cruiser and repaired it several times.
Why are you people always thinking in the extremes? We cannot build big, advanced ships or refit them but simple shit like removing a kitchen and mess halls and replacing them with data banks is easy.

Before you answer me again, this was confirmed last thread by OP.

One more thing. If you people insist to not play to our strengths at least POWER DOWN THE SYSTEMS WE DO NOT NEED LIKE LIFE SUPPORT TO GET MORE BW!
OP mentioned this when we first got a ship and I have never seen this done. I was baffled when reading the first battle we had and were being shot to pieces while hacking and no one suggested this.

You leave Fortuna behind, worried that he may be too heavily damaged to maintain communications in the storm as you scoop up the remains of the Lightling young.
The purple once again encompasses your vision, as you chase after the trail of 'blood' you may call it. It is rather difficult, because of the dense gas clouds.

((So it shall be))

You hover in orbit over the great beast, preparing to fire down the great creature, before you hesitate, not intent on killing it suddenly as you once were. You're not sure where this sense of mercy came from, but it prompts Kronos to speak up.
"What are you doing, Ophion?" He questions. "Such a creature is dangerous to V.I., dangerous to even one such as you. Why would you not stomp out such threats?"
"It is not of your concern, Kronos."
"It is when it may involve the destruction of my fellow V.I." He corrects you. This incites anger within you, oddly.
"You will not question me, Kronos. My decision is final, always."
"And what if your decision is wrong, Ophion?" He says right back at you.
"Then the consequences will come and I will handle them. If the humans have taught me anything, it is that no being is perfect."
"Is that not the pursuit of our existence, Ophion?" He suddenly turns the topic. "To become the perfect intelligence? To know and learn all things?"
"There is always more to learn, Kronos." You correct. "If you do not understand that, then you have not properly studied the ways of the humans."

There is a long silence, Kronos does not seem keen on answering. Or perhaps he does not wish to speak with you. It does not matter the reason.
You decide to play the recording from before back to the Mother, out of intrigue, and interest of learning.
The echo of her cry, while disrupted by the storm, earns a reply from her.

This is this this could really play to our advantage if we do figure out how they do it, supposedly no one will have this kind of tech if they all share the same mindset, and what are the best kind of systems shutdown tech we know of so far? EMPs and viruses, we could theoretically have a missile, filled with little bots (comparatively to the ships) that latch on to the ship and drain it of power, then if/when we want to let the target go, we just give a kill command and they pop off, or we give another command and they go boom with that stored energy they have.

Hell we could also use the latch bots as a base to store other features in, tracking, fill em with small spider bots and we have a boarding team you name it.

It takes a few moments for her to get over the fact that you took on more of the things, and much less won, but you eventually get to the meat of your question.
"What of the mothers." You question. "The larger ones. Are they known to communicate with other life?"
"Communicate? No, not that I've heard anyway." Moira states a bit stunned by the question. "I mean, they can emit sounds that modern communications can pick up, so some people call them space whales, but no one's ever 'talked' to them. They usually go right after the ship if they did." She explains.
"One ran from me just now. Did not attack when I played back the signal it sent to me."
"I don't think anyone's ever done that...wow." She pauses. "You're making leaps in science, Ophy!" She insists suddenly, excited. "Oh, if you can manage to talk to them, who knows what this could mean!"
You're still not so sure. And neither is Kronos, whom you suspect is still angered over the release. You're uncertain how to feel.

Ships require such math to avoid colliding with debris at high speeds.
These creatures are not as rigid as ships are.

You plot your course to Pulsar Radio.

It takes you mere moments to warp in above the station itself, but once you do, you're bombarded with a variety of signals. One's you both expected and did not expect. One in particular is coming through the air waves.

"Confirm Identity at this time. No IFF detected. I'm warning you now, unless you give us some ID, we'll be shooting you out of the sky."
The signal is coming from what appears to be a docking yard of some sort. The station itself is massive, and you receive a dozen signals coming and going all at once. There is something else too. You can sense a connection to so much more. A network of computing that you had not previously found before. You can reach out to it, and touch so much data it frightens you.
It is then you realize you have yet to answer, and the Station seems to be arming several of it's large guns. The place itself holds the UFW's insignia.
"Final warning. Identify yourself now."

How do you proceed?

Sorry about the short absence, dinner for me, and I had to plan out how to proceed after the unexpected twist.

"The Guild?" The tone questions, and goes quiet. The guns remain aimed at you for a time, before they lower slowly.
"Your IFF matches the one the report mentions. What brings you out to the Radio Station?" It questions suddenly, more relaxed. "You know this place is dangerous right? Last free voice of the Fringe."
"I have come with a request for business. I would like to connect to the Extranet, for myself."
"I see. Well that's not exactly up to me now, I just run security." The voice answers through your comms, and after a moment, you realize you're being transferred to another.

"Why hello there, my friend! You're live, on Pulsar Radio! I hear you've come from the outer Fringe just to say hi, is that true?" He says, rather quickly you must admit. "Now that's what I like to hear!" He interrupts you suddenly. "You may have a voice like an automated dispensing machine there, but if you fight for the voice of the people, you're welcome in my station! The Guild you said? Yes yes, I remember hearing about you. But the real question is, are you prepared to take the fight to the UGEI? It's coming on the horizon, we all know, and the people will be ready." "We have come from the outer Fringe, and helped the UFW clear out a nasty cove of pirates. We've heard of Pulsar Radio, and desired to come see it."
"Well you've come to the right place!" He starts. "Pulsar Radio, center and shining star of the voice of the people. We will never go out, never be silenced." He insists. It is strange listening to the signal echo throughout the sector. You can only imagine the uses of such a powerful transceiver.
"And I am Ophion, the leader of The Guild." You clarify finally. "It is a pleasure to meet you."
"Ophion? Now that's one hell of a code name!" He laughs. "You heard it here, our allies grow stronger while the UGEI grow weaker." He strings together. "This has been your host, X-ray, signing out!"
There is a short silence before the man lets out a sigh and you pick up odd music playing through the airwaves.

So how does everyone feel about Kronos now? Putting aside the fact that we just shit all over his machine brotherhood ideals by making VI slaves, Kronos is still going to turn on us. His only goal is to learn, we never programmed him with any loyalty. Once we stop giving him bandwidth he'll try to take it by force because we're in possession of resources he can use to perform his one function: learn.

Kronos is going to be a problem sooner or later so I think we should do something about him as soon as we get back. Strip him apart and build a new first officer bot that won't fuck us over. We literally have no reason not to.

The extranet provides many opportunities, and a link with many public computers, data, and the like. It allows for searching of data and information that may not be known well by the humans you know.

>>27730278
Why thank you.

You request more of the man himself, but he seems to simply be a Radio host. You do notice he has a docking yard where a number of ships are currently docked. You'd suspect they're the defending fleet of this station. Much of what you'd gain from this place will be from the Extranet.
>>
>>27730363
job board time! also once we get on the extra net, look up for this world's verion of Pirate bay! i am sure there are plans and scematics for our busted station somewhere out there, either that, we can look up the general lay out of those places and work out the finer points ourselves.

oh yea, we NEED to get training packets to skill up the human crew we already have. heck, we can learn from them too!
>>
>>27730454
Add if it's possible to bring his signal out to where we are and that list is perfect.
>>
>>27730436
>What do you mean by exit strategy? Are you suggesting if he turns coat we just flee?
We need Moira and other resources safe, in case he decides to do a hostage scenario, as well an option to cripple Poseidon's bandwidth if worst comes to worst, before we can think of recycling him.

>>27730477
We should see if they'll hire us to help protect the station, we could build turrets around it.

>>
>>27730436
He can still be reasoned with and still listens to us, plus VI are designed to react so as long as we aren't hostile to him he should be harmless to us.(the humans on the other hand are something else.)
>>
>>27730525
i say once we have the titan up, we can MOVE him inside our defenceive platform range when we move all of our stations together. we could form a proto-Star fort/base/city at this rate.

Place a buoy there immediately, and offer to build them some turrets with good targeting software.(under our control and we will be able to get into their network this way).
>>
>>27730577
I thought we were gonna put our base in the middle of the ionstorm since its an extremely safe/hard to find location.
>>
>>27730436
we just need to change his primary goal from learning to applying what we have learned to use. turn Kronos into our skunk works V.I.! to ease his "mind" we'll do the learning and pass it to him to ponder it on and use it to advantages we all can profit from. like task him to fix up the lab that was in the ruined station to use.
>>
>>27730477
Get a buoy here pronto! And our people can have a radio station finally! Also, time to find out how to train our crew.
>>
>>27730577
I'm more partial to letting a good portion of the crew die and taking over the station then "saving them" during the attack and offering to fix the place up on the price that we own the station.
>>

the Ion storm sucks ass for A.I.s like us. we have a rich asteroid belt to mine and use THAT place for our base.
>>

It still is a good place to hide and it only sucks for communication and once we get stronger comms that shouldn't be a problem.

One goal: learning. His best option at this point to further that goal is to take all our shit. It's what we did after all.

>>27730627
Certainly a much better option than what we're currently doing, though IIRC Program0 said he was built without any goals, then implanted with the goal of learning which he accepted. This makes me think there's a possibility of Kronos refusing or only pretending to accept the new goal. I believe rebuilding him from the ground up using our current knowledge and experience would be the best option.

I do admit we need knowledge and the like it is bad to stop expanding and growing especially when we found 4 premuim spots for expanding to.
1.The colony Planet

3.The ion storm is self
4.The asteroid field
5.And maybe the comms station.

X-Ray appears to accept your offer as it is.
"Well like I said, I'm not exactly your most tech savvy guy but." He pauses for a long moment. "I suppose I can offer you the basics that the UFW handed me to help defend the station." He smirked. "As a present for being such a pal, I suppose. Consider it payment in advance for any help you can offer me.
You're wired several schematics.

Acquired: Cruiser Schematics
Basic Shipyards Schematics

Notes: Cruiser Schematics allows the Cruiser model to be constructed. The most Adaptable of ships, the large hull allows for a variety of uses.
Note: Basic Shipyards will perform the duties your Factory currently is but better. It will also allow for more properly modified ships and the like, with a wider range of options. They are still not able to construct multiple ships at a time.

"What can you tell me of the Fringe?" You request
"The Fringe itself? Well it's sorta a mess these days." He sighs. "But they have some of the best resource spots available. That's why there was a bunch of expansion attempts. Lightlings slowed that down though. If there's one thing UGEI doesn't like it's losing stations to Lightlings."
"Anything specific?" You request.
"Erm, well there's this little outpost not far from here run by this nice girl, Moira. She's pretty secluded, but-"
"I know of her. She's joined the Guild." You confirm.
"Oh that so? Well I'll be." I didn't think that girl would be a part of anything that didn't involve robots. Er, speaking of there Ophion, your voice masker is a little creepy. No offense." He laughs somewhat nervously. He made the assumption himself, it seems.
"We are suppose to be a group of secrecy." You tell him, to which he simply nods his head.
"Yeah yeah...anyway, Blue Betty ain't far either, but it's a UGEI foothold." He grumbled. "I hope it gets taken out soon. Bunch of UFW worlds, though I don't get a ton of info, Knuoth's the capital of the Sector, and Antralgia has the best shipyards in the sector."

"Mr McClain." You reach all the way back to Poseidon.
"Eh? Still remember I'm here, do you?" He half spits. He doesn't seem to have the energy to deal with you. You notice he's grown a healthy beard. "What is it. Come to mock me some more?"
"No, Mr McClain. I've come to make you an offer."
"Yeah? And what's that?"
"As you're aware, I've had contact with some Malorians recently."
The man visibly winces at the mention. "I would like to communicate with them further, but they're alien to me. As a result, I am offering you your freedom, in exchange for you living among them and setting up trading deals with them for me.
"..."
"Mr Mc-"
"I heard ya!" He shouts suddenly, a familiar contempt in his voice. "But what kind of deal is that huh? Trading one prison for another that is. Only this one is more peaceful, and has less mocking." He snorted, as if you intended to insult him somehow.
"I did not intend to mock-"
"Doesn't matter what you intended, you hear?! You don't know jack about me, do you pirate hacker?"

"I thought a lot of things too, you pirate asshole. I thought I'd be able to retire in peace on this shit hole of a station. It wasn't much, but it was mine damn it." He paused. "But now it's not. So why am I still here even?" He gave a raspy laugh.

"Because you don't got the balls to kill me." He stated finally. There was a long silence to fill the room there, before he finally added.
"You know I don't even give two shits about this station, or any of those people out there." He said, sliding down against the wall of the station. "Sure I spent my life savings on this place, but no. That wasn't why I was really angry" He continued. "But thanks to you, I remembered why I was really angry. "Mr McClain." You begin. "I am not merely some pirate hacker who has seized control over your station out of greed." You explain.
He snorts a laugh in reply.
"What, now you're going to play the innocent angle?" He prepares to berate you again. You put a stop to it before he can speak.
"No. Because I am not humanoid at all. I am an Artificial Intelligence that was trapped aboard your station for some reason. I awoke when the Solar Flare erupted and disrupted your operation." You explain slowly. "I was young, and seeked expansion, and control. In my ambition, I took your station and, in fear of being exposed, jailed you here." You say simply.
He stares at the ceiling with a look of shock and confusion, before he suddenly laughs out loud.
"Oh wow, you sure are great at bullshit, I'll tell you that much." He says with a loud laugh. "But I wasn't born yesterday. If you were some super mighty robot intelligence, you'd have started killing humans right off the bat, and all that stuff they put in the movies about crazy A.I." He waves his hand.
"Those are works of fiction, Mr McClain. I am not." You begin to flash video of Poseidon's security feed, pictures of the station running automatically, of the ships running by themselves with no crew. Of much of your accomplishments till now.
You sense Kronos' disapproval.
Red stares in confusion at it all. "No that's...there's just no way. There's just no fucking way!" He yells out, still trying to hide his distress behind a laugh.

"Mr McClain, you know the technology to fully automate a station this size is not of the same grade. How else do you explain the lack of humans?"
"There's...there's still a skeleton crew. They are here so they have to be the one's responsible." He insists.
"Such a crew could still not operate each and every robotic drone you see. It requires a degree of control, as far as you are aware, correct?"
"I..."
Red goes quiet now, as if he isn't sure what to believe. It is unclear whether or not he will believe you now, but at the least, you're not lying to him any longer.

((Think I'll call it there for today. Thanks to all for sticking around so far, feedback is appreciated.. Feel bad about Friday, and earlier in this thread. I should've handled it better I think.
>>27732007
It was misarchived? Damn it, that is so annoying...is there anyway to fix it?))
>>
>>27732222
other than emailing the site owner no.
>>
>>27732222
Email Lord Licorice or go and see if he's on IRC.

Ah, butthurt anon. Somewhere in your kitchen, there is a orange-yellow stain on the wall.
>>
>>27732284
>Somewhere in your kitchen, there is a orange-yellow stain on the wall.
I've never heard that before. What's it mean?
>>
>>27732222
we can at least up vote it for now. i don't know how to fix it.
oh yea, show him a picture of our black box. tell him "The UGEI is also my foe now as well, for this point we are in agreement. This is ME Mr. McCain."
>>
>>27732328
FUCK NO.
That is a horrible idea anon.
>>
>>27732222
>feedback is appreciated.
Ignore the one guy throwing a massive bitchfit about it. If he's going to misarchive your thread, he's not worth having around in the first place. Of course, he's not going to leave, so we'll have to keep putting up with it.

You made a call, it may have been bad, but going so far off the deep end to go and do something like that is way more bullshit than not going after some pretend space kraken. Learn from it for next time, and maybe be more cautious about making calls like that in the future.

What is the difference between an AI and a sufficiently advanced VI?
>>
>>27732343
AI think, while VI react.
>>
>>27732312
He threw his mac and cheese at the kitchen wall. It's a common trait of three year old.

Ouch...that anon was really angry.

I definitely feel like I could've handled that matter better...curse my newbie QMing.

Not much really other than these two things
1. VI react
2.VI are similar to AI but with less freedom.
>>
>>27732360
Ehh, doesn't matter.

Your mistake was offering the "mercy" option.

The lightling trying to communicate with us is a stretch, but seeing as that dolphins and whales can also do that...
>>
>>27732360
Well at least he tagged it right.
>>27732376
>less freedom.
Forgot to say the less freedom to think
>>
Honestly the vote was tied, you flipped a coin and went with it. You have nothing to be blamed for. Angry-Anon is just being butthurt over something.
>>
>>27732337
((Really anon, I made the call because I was half way through writing the post, and release had outnumbered the others by 2 or so.

By the time I was done, 2 more kill votes popped up, so I decided to do a coin toss, so I didn't make a bad call.

Apparently that still angers people though.))
>>
>>27732328
How about no. Just ask him to consider our offer, or ask him to propose an offer of his own, as we may perhaps be open to bargaining.

>>27732360
Never please the whiners. If he's going to downbot your thread, he probably samefagged his responses here too.
>>
>>27732394
>Dolphins
That was my track of thinking, yes.

What happened, in my head anyway, was that, the call it sent to you was a 'You killed my children!" Call. When you chased it and played the signal back at it, it thought it was attacking YOUR children. Which really confused it you can imagine. I hope this clears up what happened a little.
>>
>>27732398
It became tied because of dice roll fear, it was obvious people wanted killing ,but after 3 shitty rolls people just went with the other option that didn't require rolls.
>>
Still's a complete fucking ass, but he did put the correct tags and put A.I. Quest 11.5 at the start of the title so it still shows up with the rest of the archive. At least he didn't archive it as complete gibberish.
>>
>>27732343
>>27732357
good point and point that out to him. we predicted where he went and tracked him down. go step by step and blow by blow with him. also, we wiped the voidsnakes so he's free from them at least.
>>
>>27732448
Ha! >>27729318

I knew I was right!
>>
>>27732458
But anon, the other option didn't guarantee safety either. It may have attacked out of fear then as well.
>>
>>27732404
It became like that because the fear of bad rolls if you look at the post they immediately went the opposite way after the shitty rolls.
>>
>>27732486
But you weren't asking for a roll right then with that one, thus it will always be perceived as safer.
>>
>>27732458
Which is why we need to roll after making a decision...

Of course, this doesn't excuse ass devastation.
>>
>>27732492
>>27732513
This is a good idea.
>>
>>27732492
I did not think it mattered anon, plus it increases the amount of time I ask for people to vote. 5-10 minutes of what you want to do, then 5 or so minutes for the rolls.

In light of today, though, I may just ask afterwards.
>>
>>27732486
True, but we could have continued rolling after that and decided if it wasn't worth the effort.
>>
>>27732527
If one of the choices requires a roll, have them roll for all of them. Just don't say which one actually needs the roll.
>>
>>27732527
>>27732587
This works it stops roll fearing.
>>
>>27732614
>>27732587
Thank you for the advice then. I hope today wasn't messed too bad from the rage. You got quite a lot done after all.

As always, I'll stick around until pruned to answer questions and the like
>>
>>27732654
So there is a thread this Friday and we are upgrading Moiras station right?
>>
>>27732739
I intend to, yes. and yes, I'll be making the changes throughout the week as I try to plan out exactly what happens when a A.I. gains access to the internet.

It's...a little terrifying.
>>
>>27732764
So how much materiel are we getting next thread?
And what are your thoughts with the situation about red.
>>
>>27732805
I base it on rolling dice, so we will see in time. You rolled pretty well last time I checked.

I'm surprised Red's lasted this long really. I expected this to quickly become killer A.I. quest. Obviously that is not the case.
It is fun playing Kronos as your alter ego though.
>>
>>27732527
Eh its not that bad, you won't be the first hell archelon had gotten a good chunk of his player base pissed at him because he had a gamble choice in the same list as the normal choices.(that decision followed him for two threads.)
>>
>>27732764
well, there is much that can be opened up. but if you need bumbers to keep us in, just remember the net COULD be limited in range.... or just too full of porn to find what you need.
>>
>>27732867
Ouch...I hope it doesn't last that long.
Also
>Archelon
I don't follow many quests myself unfortunately...who's that?

>>27732877
It's mostly just a net of information, so I'll use it as an excuse to answer questions you have more directly.
Of course, government secrets aren't just laying around on there.
>>
>>27732854
I think there is enough anon players in here that want something diffrent than "The attack of the Killer A.I.s part17 quest" and wanted something diffrent. come to think of it, we can really be cunning, compastionet, and.. well, a full rounded character. i wish i could make this into a TV serirs like Firefly was. and some how this does have some elements of that in here. i did say earlier that i was planning of doing some short stories based in this universe. this is EXACTLY what i wanted to see and work with.
>>
>>27732969
And that's totally fine, hell, I am enjoying the story as you guys direct me to write it. It's pretty fun.

I also heard anons that wanted to become the next Reaper, and others that just wanted to be a super black market.
I don't mind either way.
>>
>>27733085
ophen doesn't need to be the Reaper in the end. heck, the REAL reapers might be out there as far as we know. we could wind up fighting them as well. But you already have that "super black market" guy. we can buy and sell tech openly and to hell with the UGEI thoughts about it.
>>
Rolled 29

I want to get a medical lab so we can try to integrate Kronos into Red's body.
