Last time we held of a bandit fleet, ravagers forces, dirty bombing and finally unleashed a RIGHTEOUS Crusade on the underground...no idea how that is working out. As we had lost contact quite some time ago.

Meanwhile we have scouts trying to find our lost Hero Loocha Skav and our aquatic hero is going around digging wells or something. They should both return in a turn or two. On another note those mercs we hired last turn have arrived.

Acquired Volcun, Volciv, Coba and cilcith mutant mercs. Their costly though and not from around here.

Meanwhile thanks to a certain THING.

Everybody wants the same thing I see. Expenses, expenses, expenses.
How about a deal? Unlike the other mercenaries, whom we've mostly hired temporarily, what would it take for them to be here longterm?

"We're tired of having to deal with the constant threat under our beds. Now, we'd like to think you guys aren't just another hired gun we can send down there to mindlessly hack and hack at our underflank. We're looking for someone with a mastery of the underground, and we're looking for it in you. We're thinking of asking you to set up a sort of. . .colony under us. We can arrange a continued supply of material gathered from down there, in a fair deal of course, and all we ask is that you take care of our tunnel problem for us. We can supply you with all the weapons and tech you need to deal with down there, and in exchange a handsome cut of whatever you can mine from underneath us."
>>
>>27813174
I can second that

"No deal we be mercs not colonists or Exterminators."

"A real shame. Tell me, what is it about this idea that puts you off?
You desire to return to your homes? This place can become like your home and more. What Sheba has that we do not, we can double our efforts to change that.
You seek riches and wealth? That we can provide in great abundance down there.
You have a reputation to hold? You can bring much honor and glory to your names by sending bounties of blessing and advances to Sheba.
You fear boredom and stagnancy? I can assure you endless action."

"And so you have said it, if we can provide pay you have said you can stay. This is essentially what I am offering, a continued pay in exchange for your stay and guard our underbelly. So long as you continue to do this, you receive your pay. This is the basics of mercenary work, providing security in exchange for pay."

"As you and I both know, these days resources are valuable and loot is even more valuable. Most missions we have done have cost us even up to two loot. But we are willing to be generous, and offer you 2 loot and an entire resource point for each turn you stay and guard our undersides."

"Advanced Tech is even more harder to come by, but we can provide for some additional missions and goals when we require it. A fair deal for a fairly valubale asset no?

>Are you TRYING to ruin the reputation of fairness and lack of bullshitting we've worked hard to develop? We'll give them an even deal and that will be that.
And we are offering them a fair deal. 2.5 loots per turn, in exchange they stay underus and protect us from now on. Extra tech is provided for missions. They seem even. . .enthusiastic about it.

It's called haggling by the way, throw a low price and they raise it and you negotiate.
>>
Rolled 20

>>27813969
First payment was to get them there now your renegotiating the terms it seems.

>>27814000
Sadly that only covers them all but the Coba who are considered elite tier thus requiring either tech or 5 loots a turn.
>>
>>27813915
They clearly don't like the idea of staying, and now you've increased their expense by 25%+tech.
>>27813928
We're sending them downstairs with resupply for the paladins, to join the fight down there, and to relieve the Super Soldiers and Military Borgs. Give them their first turn of pay (at the increased rate the anon oh-so-skillfully negotiated) and one more turn of pay in advance, they'll be paid 2 loot per turn that they're down there and get a bonus if the Arch Paladin speaks well of them.
>>
>>27814033
Well if you insist. We'll just have to keep calling them or someone else back to deal with the underground threat anyway. We had 1000 loots to last us 30 years on that deal, and not to mention we can resupply through scavange and trade.

Here I was hoping we could finally let the undergrond be someone elses issue.

The Military Borgs and Super Soldier Company, on the other hand are just perfect for taking care of certain Ghoul Warbands, Zombie Hordes, and a Busted Bunker. I don't like that our scouts didn't return from the Busted Bunker. I don't like it at all.

The Demons are bound to grow bored of underground fighting eventually and seek fun elsewhere though that is a pleasant thought.

Heh, Maybe we can turn it into some kind of demon fun zone down there? "Aduro Industries hellfire arena. The most exciting place on earth for young demons." Like a big party or something, lasers and shit.

As for the bunker, every single force, even scouting force, even heroic scouting force, we have sent there was a suicide mission. Will these guys do any better? I don't know. But on the offchance they're dead, least we won't have to pay them afterward. Of course, let's see the condition of whoever comes up from down there.

My original plan was to just withdraw the Super Soldier Company...but then we had a Ghoulish Warband and a Zombie Horde show up in our crater. So I figured we might want to have a little more military might on hand.

I could've sworn the super-soldiers had orders to come back up this turn or next turn, or last turn. I guess we'll finally get a sit-rep on what's happening down there.

Mutation Heightened senses is being pursued mostly the overuse of lasers and speakers upon our volunteers

Scouts sent out to the ghouls and zombies find out some interesting things mostly but running into a chatty ghoul who decided to tag along...despite being so chatty the fucker was amazingly sneaky. Who informed our scouts of a meeting going on between a the Ghoul Warband Leader and the Zombies. Shit the ghoul even knew about our lost hero stating Loocha got taken by the ghouls along with the lost mobile base. Meanwhile we found out that the ghouls are around thanks to lethal levels of nastiness thus are looking for around and the zombies meanwhile were attracted to all the fighting. The meeting between the two our scouts barely managed to get close enough to over hear them discussing plans mostly about the underground and turf/lair claims there was even a discussion of a pact.

Mobile base equipped

Manufacturing continues

Mr. Light and Dr. Picli are debating the best way to do this they have an idea for some basic detectors though.

The messenger stated that we are fools that broke the delicate balance down there. Now that of which was contained due to be paranoid from their strikes fooling it is no more. As in the forces we sent have force it into action.

The message it brought back from our forces stated that the underground was crawling with ghouls, zombies, bandits, monsters and worse. It was proving to be a huge clusterfuck. They were doing reasonably well until the shit started hitting the fan when they cracked into some strange tunnels...

>>27814733
"could not afford new faction to add to the trouble as is too much was pouring now it is is all irredeemably fucked. All thanks to YOU the others were happy enough to kill each other but not you oh no your forces just HAD to be good enough to crush them and to break through..."

"Its all your fault that of which is about to happen sticking ones noses where it doesn't belong, not even bothering to wonder just WHY the underground was the way it was. Its going to come for you now. Its got someone to truly focus and finally knows where to strike."

Don't try to shove that horsecock of blame down on us.
When we met some demons, we invited them to dinner.
When Urgsha came and swindled us, we invited him to our home later.
If this precious balance of yours was so important, all you had to fucking do was walk up to one of us and talk. Instead you slithered around like worms and killed our men without mercy.

Who are you anyway
>>
>>27814688

Goddammit, I suspected they had gotten the Mobile Base Wreck. Fuck, AND an engineering hero.

What are the numbers on the Zombie Horde+Ghoul Warband? Would our Mobile Bases and Mobile Fortress be able to (sneak up on them because they're goddamn undetectable) and then destroy them?

There's only 1 Mobile Base left that hasn't gotten upgraded shields+lasers, right?

>>27814830
Ask them if they'd like to help us take whatever this force is out. We'd gladly give them favorable conditions for living in the underground if they'd assist us.

"It is unfortunate that we've stumbled into the tunnels without knowing what we were getting into, but now that the gates have opened...perhaps you would consider an alliance with us? If you help us take out this 'thing' that we've stirred, or provide us with information on it and the other dangers down there, we will treat you in kind. We reward our friends quite generously, and bear no ill-will towards you."

>>27814937

Numbers range in a thousands. Proximately 1000 ghouls as the talker stated were none feral have no idea what that means, they also have 4x feral it seems and at least 10x that zombies. They don't have much in the ways of heavy vehicles though.

And you are those who have lead to the events we both find ourselves in now.
The other groups didn't bother you? Well then the other groups didn't have the saftey of their people in mind when they heard strange slithering things under their feet and men mysteriously vanish without a trace.

YOU could've told us this situation of yours, but instead you acted like preying monsters and killed them. YOU could've begin contact with the numerous scouting parties we sent down there and told us this long ago. YOU could've prevented us sending in armies out of our own fear and paranoia of things rising out to kill us, as your forces have acted time and again.
>>
>>27814937

You know what's even better? THEIR Mobile Base is a Military-Specced Mobile Base and Grandmaster Loota can repair anything even better than it was before.

>>27815002
So 15k infantry total
-1k Sent. Ghouls
-4k Feral Ghouls
-10k Zombies
With very little Heavy Vehicles. Did our scouts notice any particular zombie mutants or if the horde had a lot of zombie mutants?

>>27815002
Tell them we'll give them a considerable amount of food+water for their flight if they tell us everything they know about "IT", but that if they stay and help we'll give them the best of homes an excess of food+water, weapons, stealth shields, and whatever else is in our power to give.

We don't know much about it other then it feeds and turns things against itself it terrible bizarre ways. We ourselves nearly found our selves consumed by it but we evolved in order to survive. Those aren't actions, they're discussions.

in any case, I'll just drop this argument, we have more important things to discuss. But they're still toting a crock of shit if they think we are entirely the cause of all this.

Forgiveness isn't killing men and leaving no trace. It isn't attacking us while at the same time we were attacked from above. And a message isn't a hostile enviornment. A message is spoken.
>>
>>27815311

Well that gets them their departure bonus.

"We appreciate the information, and you will get what we promised you. We feel we must implore you, one more time, to stay and help us fight this foe! You are the only ones who have dealt with it extensively, and you've evolved past whatever its twisting abilities are. Having you on our side would be an invaluable boon, and we would be willing to pay dearly for it.

That aside, do you really think this monster will forgive you or forget the creatures that kept it contained for so long...in it's view just waiting until they could unleash an army down into its domain to deliver the killing blow? Because if I were in its position, I would never cease my hunt for the ones that tried to kill me until I was sure that every last one of them had been wiped off the planet.

You might run and you might hide for a time, but so long as this thing lives you'll never be able to truly rest. If you join us, on the other hand, your enemy will be eliminated and homes and plenty will be yours to enjoy."

Give them the promised "considerable amount" of food+water. Adero Industries can't be getting a name for not fulfilling their promises.

Anyway, sounds like we're going to have to ask Isabella for a shitload of Mercs next time she comes by so we can have a hope of holding our own. (We need to make it a sort of...bulk purchase. Get a shitload all at once and send them down into the tunnels, because I don't expect many of them will survive, but as soon as that becomes common knowledge Mercs will be more hesitant to join us).

>Basic 1
Send scouts out to check out the Ghouls+Mutants again, this time have them bring along a few prototype detectors of Picli+Light's design if they're available.

I don't want to march our Mobiles out there just for them to get caught in a crossfire between our salvaged Mobile Base and a Military-Mobile Base that we just hadn't seen.

Develop our laser combat vehicles more, emphasis on integrating all of our shield technologies into them. (Picli)

>Basic 3

>Guidance
Continue development of detection systems (Mr. Light)

Ask Overseer No-Mad if he knows anything about the (Lurklas) mutants, or about what's in the tunnels. Ask him if he thinks the ghouls would be open to parlay for our hero, and if he thinks it'd be advisable to attack them. Ask him generally for his recommended course of action.

That might just make things worse though. But extra muscle is never bad.

What I'm also wondering is how and where these guys will go. We have other remnants (though far away and logistics are a nightmare for anyone not made of living energy or water). And who offered these guys a deal.

>>27815718
Very well, give them thermal shields and personal shields and laser-cannons if they want them.

I'm tempted to give them stealth shields, because they could strike against IT where-ever they goddamn want to with their stealth shields and stealth abilities...but then they could also strike against anyone anywhere with their stealth abilities and shields if they had them.

Actually, stealth-tech is already pretty common apparently. Might as well be the ones profiting off of giving it to them.

I vote for giving them some Phase-Shields for their information.

Alternately, if people disagree...we give them loot. 5 units ought to do it.

Bandits - Made a stunning return to the land. Allied with Reavers and ghouls alongside us and destroyed other tech factions. Urgsha and No-Mad felt it apt to fight them
Reavers - see above, only known to work with bandits and ghouls
Ghouls - Ghouls attacked us alongside the bandits and reavers. Uknown relation to those proposing a pact with zombies

Coming charging down from the tunnels we saw a mixture of borgs and Super Soldiers running for their very lives.

YOU FUCKING BORGS JET LEGS IS CHEATING.

SCREW YOU SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST BITCH.

AHH THEIR SO CLOSE I NOT ENOUGH BULLETS TO KILL THEM ALL EVEN WITH ONE SHOTS OR TRICK KILLS FFUUU

That was abruptly the borgs turned and the super soldiers seemingly ducked down sliding.Which was the signal for the borgs to open fire mowing down the menace.

AHAHAH WERE ALMOST*RUMBLING*

OH SHIT THEIR COMING THROUGH THE WALLS- as the wall collapsed pouring forth a tide flanking them.

FUUUUCK GODDAMN USE BLINKERS TEAMS GO BORG SHADES DEPLOY.

Were not sure what happened after that as our cameras got wiped out. Other then some very battered forces came panting out.

Oh shit fucking ballsacks. Ain't expecting that.

No kidding there was no signs of that sort of thing lurking down there.

Ain't got enough bullets...

eh what about those reinforcements sent down there?

The others looked at the guy as one.

Unless they made it to the pally force their on their own.

Come to think of it why the did the paladins keep fighting anyway?

Something to do with a crusade. Morons don't plan to retreat until the Crusade is declared over.

Crazy bastards.

Hey at least they made an excellent distraction!

Tell that the the fucking horde of those monsters wanting to bite my ass off.

"I don't deal with ghouls or zombies that so I don't know. Can say this though if they agreed to something that means their willing to share."
>>
>>27816260

Yeah, that's right. There's more than one faction of bandits though, the ones we've dealt with are the Zeppelin bandits.

Ash Bandits-Like flying around in (apparently highly advanced) zeppelins. Allied with the Ravagers (not Reavers) to attack Adero Industries.

Ghouls- Inhabit a Military Base that apparently had a Mobile Base in it, and some stealth tech. The military base area is highly irradiated. Numbers unknown, seem to have access to extreme long range artillery. Currently holding our hero captive, captured/salvaged a Mobile Base of ours in battle after we made a retarded move with it.

The Coba were the only elites. The others were just underground-combat specialized.

The Super Soldier Company had orders to return to the surface after 2 turns, the Borgs didn't. We sent down the other mercs to relieve them both... but it sounds like they never made contact.

So things must be so bad the the Super Soldiers and Borgs deemed it a military necessity to withdraw together...holy shit.

The tunnels are crawling with monsters who seemd to be a much more evolved version of usual monster fodder or something outright new. Either way very nasty as they are trashing our defenses surrounding us completely underground.

Strange fliers are coming form volcano No-Smokey Otherwise known as Nosmoy. They upon closer look are revealed to be monsters and are heading this way. They are blocking us from the air. They are so thick in number as one cannot even see the ashen grey but just waves of carapace, claw, fang, tail, and scale.

Creatures that broke through the ground are being belched forth from fleshy holes that are slowly spreading a sickening amount of strange growth over the land. The monsters are similar to the ones underground, at least some of them anyway.

Strange Spires seem to be made of chitinious material and are spewing forth strange spores, growths, and a membrane connecting them to each other.

Mobile bases sighted are 5.

The ghoulish military one.

Our former one apparently salvaged and manned.

Followed by two others in the opposite direction approaching. One of whom is veering of towards the Urgsha base. The other meanwhile has halted and seems to be watching.

Finally the fifth...is floating around in the sky overlooking everything and keeps its distance from the monstrous fliers.

The Colonel is busy making preparations. He states that next time look around before you dive and most importantly test the water first. Especially considering your a Corp.

No-Mad suggests making a bargain with horrors and nightmares.

Picli states that the answer can always be found in SCIENCE!

Low level mooks have no idea but one from customer service. Who suggests dealing with their leaders and points out three.

1 on the surface
1 underground
1 in the air

Surely he hasn't heard how many times we sent scouts down there to just look. Only reason we sent the crusade was due to an equally powerful army coming up to get us on top of ravagers raining from the sky.

I honestly don't know...I guess maybe since all of the primary problems here are originating from the underground/biological faction, we only happened to discover flesh-lined tunnels by the barest chance (the double-100) and that just set alarm bells off by itself, what the Lurklas said about the thing they had been fighting underground (I'm still not quite sure on what the significance of its corruption and them having to evolve against it are though), No-Mad suggesting we strike a bargain with Horrors and Nightmares...

It's (almost entirely) intuition, but that's the supporting evidence I can recall off of the top of my head.
>>
guys mabey if we are going to have peacefull talks with the underground guy we will have to call off the crusade which is good and bad
good: we get the paladins back alive for resupply and might make headway with underground dude

There's some connection between Mr. Light and Rizal and whoever's commanding the biological forces (they have command over monsters, and can evidently build them too. Distinctively broodmother-esque features)...the Paladins are hitting the tunnels hella hard and have been for a while, and they get a bonus against evil things but monsters aren't evil by default I don't think so they had to be being controlled.

>>
>>27820282

The air base is solo (and Cajun) so I'm agreeing with you there

The ground forces are the Mobile Bases that showed up, I think that the spires and flying fleshbeasts count as part of the underground forces because they came from underground.

I don't see any clear lines of coordination between the 'underground forces' and the mobile bases (except for the one mobile base that's staying still and watching us while the others go off to fuck the Urgsha...though I'm pretty sure the Urgsha have more than enough cards up their sleeves). So I don't think it's them in charge.

The underground we know next to nothing (heh, we've forcibly been made wise) about, except that advanced monsters spewed forth after we broke through the volcanic membrane and all this shit went down likely as a result of that too.

>>27820348

Alright, so the "Monster-Commander" of the surface is controlling all of the upgraded-monsters that came out of nowhere from all over the place when the paladins broke through the membrane of the volcano. Can we get a confirmation from the Colonel that the monsters surrounding our tower right now and the ones he+the borgs fought in the tunnels are the same?
If they are, that means that the Monster-Commander probably hates us because we slaughtered his entire 'normal' force (which it has a personal-connection to...or something, because it 'twists' them).

The Underground commander (if it's separate from the monster-forces swarming us) then is the one that deployed the massive flesh-beast spikes, and the flying beasts from the volcano, and we (essentially) have a knife to its throat (maybe) with the Paladins+Borgs.

I've dismissed the air base because...I don't know. I hope EDE isn't so much a troll to make them the right answer. Also, they laughed.

So the surface (possibly) hates us (because of the reasons above)
Air laughed at us (one of them even died and is, as we speak, being turned into a delicious stew)

That only leaves the underground...
You don't even know how nervous I am pronouncing that...

Colonel states the monsters on the surface seemed to be less optimal for tunnel fighting. So basically they seem to be different.

>>27820558
hm strange my post got miss placed damn it. That was a pain in the ass to write up too.

Basically they kept hitting their flanks and outer bases. Every time they sent out scouts or something they hit those guys. When larger numbers came out they lured nasty critters their way to keep them busy while they picked them off. Basically dirty fighting and guerrilla fighting to the highest order. IF the monsters eve sent it its forces in force they would be overwhelmed. So they had to keep it off balance, contained, and paranoid.

So which monster commander you want to talk too? How do you plan to communicate?

You are GlowyJoe ever since the lost of your best friend Duel Fists and then his people who you had fought and died with as well as your Glows Krew. The remainders of which took part in the Infamous Ghoulish Krulsade. You have had a feeling in your got during the aftermath that your buddy was still around and with your Krew no longer an issue to hold you back you wondered. Or so says this voice in your head called Alede.

"Shit Socks."

There it goes again.

"My mommies hourglass is the best for whipping."

Ah yes you never can say what you mean at least when you want to anyway.

"I love my puppies while the get eaten by BABIES."

So why did this guy come along?

Who knows I only know he gots the officials okay from Gorza.

Great, but why he seems human.

He glows so as far as the bosses are concerned that means he is a mutant.

Great...

Yup.

BOOM!

Did he just load himself in the artillery cannon tied a rope to the trigger and pulled it?

Yeah, also it was chain not rope.

Crazy bastard.

What can you expect from someone who is rumoured to have survived the Great storm, took part in the Ghoul Cruelsade, and even survived the Memor Reckoning?

Damn really?

Or so the stories.

Meanwhile back at the Megatower on the top stood some lookouts.

WWEEE-

Did you just see a glowing man streak across the sky naked and crashed into a spire.

"Nope."

"Then why are you staring into the Sun as tears rundown your face?"

"Some things are not supposed to be that awesome" answered the lookout looking as a Spire picks its self up revealing a monster underneath while glowy Joe hangs onto it its Spire(horn) for dear live.

WWEEE- shouted GlowyJoe riding its horn while stuffing his special wappajacker into the crevices he created when he crashed into it as the monster reared in pain and desperately trying to shake him off.

We're going to attempt to contact the Commander of Underground Forces.

Now I'm not sure exactly how Mr. Light works/what he is, but I *think* he's more-or-less Dr. Manhattan.

We're going to contact them "with Dr. Light and a little fleshy friend who can speak to monsters?" (Who I'm presuming he can teleport to. If he can't, then have all of our sensors look for a flying object that isn't the floating Mobile Base or the Flying Monsters we saw spew from No-Smokey)

We'd also like to try and get in contact with the Urgsha, the Ghouls, and the Paladins if those are possible.
>>
>>27821241
If not, they can always just walk. I'm sure the two of them are enough to allow safe passage. They don't have anything to fear.

we could merge the slicer shield with the disintigration shield for greater effect of both
we could make slicer shield "landmines" basicly alter the shield so its "insideout" so instead of blocking stuff from the outside it holds things in. place them underground either individualy or in groups for larger creatures.so when it is triggered the victim is held stationary and then it is neatly sliced and diced as its allies watch in horror.

Very few of us want a game over so early, on top of this time we've tried doing exactly what we did wrong as Memor.
We've had some great rolls. Plenty of resources. And one, single, unintentional move this time? Last time it was a combination of bad tactics.

Here we have made every effort not to piss anyone else off where we didn't need to, and contact and scout where we can. The ravager fleet appeared out of nowhere and we didn't even set that off this time.

Basically you can do its is going to cause havoc with morale.

Plus you have to remember heroic sacrafice ONLY insures the success of an action.

Winning all the battles in a war doesn't man you win it.

>>27822266
It started since the VERY beginning with your Civ choice. I had to think about how it might work came up with a few options...that never caught on. Its felt like every turn you doing something.

Suffice to say I was thoroughly convinced by you bastards are either the biggest masochists any quest has ever seen or wanted to play hard difficulty approaching NIGHTMARE mode(my versions of all things). I wish I was kidding.

The addition of mutants was a poor oversight. So much for "it will be a cakewalk for the vets", "no bandits". Ravagers this early, targeting our type of civ, we never even knew they existed for 10 chapters as Memor. . ., let alone fought them.

I like this particular civ, it was a novel idea. But ill fitting of the situation.
>>
Rolled 48

>>27822375

I concur. I also really wish we hadn't chosen to be mutants/humans. One or the other, but not both.

I also think that Aduro Industries is a bit cheesy/wide reaching...but it's been handled well.
>>
Rolled 52

>>
>>27822501
Not at this hour at least.
>>
>>27822561
>Hopefully the next one will be newbie friendly with less pain loving and or hard mode.
It just wouldn't be us or you then. . .

Your civs are hardly veteran friendly, we had some serious analysis going on here and it turned out to be bunk. But that's what makes them interesting.

Also, next time. We'll hold off next time as long as time allows.
>>
Rolled 66

>>27822561

Your Civ is very empirical/impartial, so by its nature it's pretty harsh. People are used to being babied and having things simplified (especially for civilization threads, quest threads are more varied). The empirical nature of the way you run it aside, there's also the plans-in-plans-in-plans-in-that-mountain-you-for-some-reason-didn't-think-was-hollow thing that you have going on. It's great, like I said but even veteran (as much as any of us can be called such) players with a bit of an idea for world backstory have difficulty figuring that stuff out (shit, we got it wrong right here in this thread). It's way harder for noobies to even begin to untangle the web.

We do seem to have masochistic urges to an extent...it's also a bit difficult to 'read' what the correct next step is.
>>
Rolled 80

>>27822615
>>27822615
ah that is because everything has consequences which or may not be immediately obvious. Plus I seem to be able weave a web of interlinking things that even a spider would be impressed with. In any case though yeah empirical I can't claim a logical civ thanks to the whole gigantic monsters, bases, rapid mutations ect. However that does mean I am willing to allow rule of cool if you got the set up/preparations for it first as result.
>>
>>27822615
The main difference is with the Memor we were also sadistic on top of being masochistic.
>>
>>27822676
On the contrary, it's not the setting that makes your civs incredibly logical (and thusly hard), it's the way you run them. There's always something going on behind the scenes, under the scenes, hell, sometimes above us and well beyond.
>>
Rolled 69

>>27822676

Yeah, I guess that's mostly it. Everything has consequences. Also, your NPCs are very well developed. Each faction has its own set of likes/dislikes, characteristics, and they're not homogeneous so sometimes splinter-factions or heroes within the faction will do things that are unanticipated...very complex. Then, on top of that they all interact with each other while we interact with them.

Oh, also scouting never seems to pay off :/
>>
Rolled 66

>>27822726
I have complaint in that regard. You never do it right. You either go to far, not enough, or assume you instantly know about everything in your 'scouted' area. For fucks you guys are outright terrible at exploring and wretched at scouting.

>>27822690
Certainly makes things complicated. Why I do it despite the complexity is because I noticed all the other civs had the players bottled up on their own little private bubbles. Things shouldn't work that way after all you just a part in a much bigger world. It seems I have succeeded in making my players feel that to a degree.
>>
>>27822788
The fact that we are even scouting is a remarkable change.
>>
Rolled 54

>>27822801
Indeed, its slow process. First I have to beat the importance of scouting THEN exploring is going to have to be brought up. Oh BOY is that going to be fun...
>>
>>27822817
You have a terrible way with semantics
Can't get ambushed but can get overwhelmed.
You scouted but didn't explore.
>>
Rolled 85

>>27822788
Heh, see this >>27822801

Baby steps, EDE. They're happening.

We scouted out the tunnels like 6 times, then got them scouted by the double-100. But we still knew there was stuff down there that needed to be found out. We just kind of got shoehorned into defending ourselves down there...Our intention with the paladins was never to drive through all of the tunnels though (or at least, I didn't intend to do that...I just wanted them to hold the basement/our mining facilities)...that just sort of happened by mistake and once it had been begun it couldn't be stopped and we didn't want to lose 7k very valuable troops.
>>
Rolled 39

>>27822817

So if a new Civ. starts and we Crit 1 on monsters, bandits, zombies, factions, then Crit 100 on resources...how hard would you shit yourself?
>>
Rolled 42

>>27822830
Just because you know it was coming doesn't mean you can't get overwhelmed.

Exploration is basically VERY detailed and focused scouting. Another way to put it is going over something with a fine toothed comb.

>>27822837
Don't worry remember about how much your getting your asses kicked and what about Memor plus those threats that appeared/hinted at in both civs? Those fuckers survive and even thrive on it. Kinda have to if you want to be a shining beacon of example in a big bad dark post apoc world.
>>
>>27822837
Not to mention the lurklassholes who cared so much about the precious balance that they decided not to tell us about it, but to freak the shit out of a simple mining company and then kill their subsequent scouting attempts and opportunities to contact them, attacked us conjointly with our enemies, and call forth a terrified faction down on them to disrupt the precious balance.
>>
Rolled 60

Well now we know. It really explains a lot about why, for instance, Alexis couldn't find tunnel entrances in the swamp when we sent her to "scout".

>>27822926
Oh yeah? They just kind of attract/cause these situations, huh? Well then I guess they're actually really, REALLY good at their whole "cleansing the world of evil" thing.
>>
Rolled 44

>>27822926

What does a Crit do in world-generation anyway? Would it result in the complete-failure/success +moderate bonus/penalty that it normally entails?
>>
Rolled 42

>>27822955
You have to be.. Surviving paladins are quite the badasses. If only because of what they survived. And got help you ever encounter an old paladin.

>>27822963
Maximum+ is what it translates into.

bonuses and penalties are dependent on the roll in general. Which act differently in World Gen compared to usual including roll wise.
>>
>>27822955
Can't cleanse the world of evil if there's no mess to clean up first
>>
Rolled 43

>>27822986

Still, taking Mercs that first time would've made life a lot less difficult in the here and now.

By the way, are the Paladin forces actually under our jurisdiction/OUR hero, or are they just (relatively) close allies?

Also, what's the deal with Aquam? I feel like there's some super-secret application for him that I haven't been able to deduce.
>>
Rolled 5

>>27823030

I'm not necessarily asking for what the application is, just want to know if it's there or not.
>>
i gotta say ede its a little upsetting to hear that what we did wrong in the last civ was that we didnt "explore" when you were always telling us that we didnt scout enough. this is the first time i ever heard you say ANYTHING about exploring being 1st of all possible 2nd compleatly different from scouting. and personaly i think that those are entirely backwards: when you explore you cover a wide area and get a general idea/make a rough map and when you scout you turn over every leaf and learn everything. honestly i really enjoy your "no punches pulled" playstyle but you gotta let us know if we arent getting the desired results because we didnt use a keyword that you never told us we needed.
all that bitching aside are there any other keywords that we are missing that we should know about?

Because in light of what you've said about Paladins I might strongly consider sacrificing Aquam over the Arch Paladin.
>>
Rolled 33

>>27823030
Because you wanted to go the light in darkness route that makes them like you unless its a trick. So yeah their happy to work with you.

>>27823030
Aquam is interesting as in literally living water and more.

>>27823053
Not that I can remember at the moment.
>>
Rolled 46

>>27823053
Is there a difference between "salvage" "scavenge" and "scrounge"?

How about "scout" "recon" and "check out"

>>27823075

Is there a way to improve our scouts chances of not getting killed while they're out scouting? We couldn't even look at the Busted Bunker.
>>
>>27823092
>busted bunker
i think that that falls under the "bad idea wont work" clause
>>
Rolled 57

>>27823111

I just wanted to know if there seemed to be increased activity in it from the outside. I didn't want them to go in or anything, but they got wiped out.
>>
>>27823092
We literally couldn't even look at the busted bunker.

Really wish we had a hero with an I SEE AHEAD ability. The ability to see before they are overwhelmed, not just ambushed.
>>
>>27823118
Hell, first time we did it with Tribals. Experts at the arts. Didn't even ask to send them in just check the area, and poof they're gone.
>>
Rolled 26

>>27823092
Salvage is if you got a focuses target.
Scavenge is general.
Scrounge is sneaky scavenging.

Scout is going over an area to identify threats and noteworthy things.

Recon is specialized scouting only available for military units. Increases ability to spot threats and allows you to identify strategic locations much more easily.

check out is s mixture of scouting/exploring in specific area.

But the Gral went inside the bunker and found stuff. So I don't get how the mechanic works.
>>
Rolled 24

>>27823143
They caught on after the Gral and humans are much tastier then mutants.
>>
>>27823141
Someone ought to make a pastebin of the differentiations and articulations.

We are dealing with a very very twisted genie.
>>
>>27823143
We'll have to be very specific from now on.
First scout the pathway to a place. Then explore the path for hidden dangers.
Then scout the outside of a place. Then explore for dangers.
Finally we can begin to scout the inside. And then explore for danger.
>>
Rolled 7

>>27823168

Don't forget sending military units (which none of our standard population are) to recon.

Do we have military units as a Corp.? Can we get any?
>>
Rolled 43

>>27823168

Aw...you guys are finally going to catch on and realize the importance of direct control huh?

>>27823155
I have been compared to a genie several times now. Am I REALLY that bad?
>>
Rolled 35

>>27823190
You have none.

Possibly.

Recon is only available to paramilitary forces(guaranteed), government remnants(maybe), and bandits(with their own version).
>>
>>27823141
now i dont mind you being picky about what we say having a different effect (eg.boomcity vs. bombader) that was our mistake. and hey i dont even mind being picky about the little stuff like this (im the same way it pisses people off to no end) but you have to let us know before hand that you take little differences like that to heart and what they mean to you. i dont mind being punished for my own stupidity but i hate being punished for not thinking the exact same thing the exact same way as someone else when i am unaware that it even matters
>>
>>27823192
Have you ever heard of the movie wishmaster?
>>
Rolled 86

>>27823192

You don't exactly transmit these things...Like I said, there's no babying. Most GMs would incorporate exploring, reconning, and searching into "Scouting".
>>
>>27823190
We don't have military units but by thunder we have weapons.
>>
Rolled 54

>>27823209

...Yeah basically this. We had no idea "scouting" and "exploring" were different things until now.

It's part of why your plots are so hard to unravel. There's a communications gap.
>>
Rolled 94

>>27823206
In any case I am going to go to bed.

>>27823209
>>27823214
That is why I don't penalize too much over it. Just gently remind/prod about being more 'detailed'.

>>27823211
Going to have to look into it.
>>
>>27823232
yes but YOU didnt specify WHICH detail you were looking at
