(Said I'd do this by today, going to be equal part character building for you guys and setting up.)

A little time away from home would be good for her, stretch her tail and shake out her mind.

Yeah...that's just what she needed. She opened the door to her house, and stepped out into the warm light.

Across the sea, an oracle for the Phoenix Empire shrieks in terror and collapses.
WHERE ONE STORY ENDS...
- - - - On the southern continent - - - -
You jolt awake from a fitful sleep, it is early morning and it has been a week since you laid your father to his deserved rest. His health declining these past few years, and you found yourself taking up more and more of the responsibilities on the ranch to help out. Towards the end he brokered the sale of every head of cattle, content to settle for just making ends meet with what little other farming there was and to help pay for treatment and you suspect to help finish your education. With little work and low prospects of further employment resulted in the ranch hands leaving when their contract was up. Only one person has stayed on, you turn your head to the sound of a rapping on your door.

"Miss, the gentleman from the bank is here." a rough voice calls from behind the door to your room. Matt McCain, the ranch foreman, continues, "I know you'd like nothing more than to sleep in, and frankly, I don't blame you, but..."
>>
>>27887967
"I know... I know..." you respond, slithering out of your bed and to the dresser, "Just give me a moment to make myself decent."

You hear a noise of affirmation as you go about becoming presentable. After a short time, you open the door, and the face of the old ranch hand is there to greet you. Grey haired, sporting an impressive moustache and one side of his mouth drawn upwards into a smirk. You've never ask him his age, but since he is an elf, you figure it must be well up there. "You still holding up alright?" He asks.

You nod and head towards the door.

Standing outside the door is a short human. You slither out of the door as he does a slight double take but recovers quickly. "My apologies on my early arrival, I have a boat back to the UFK to catch. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Mr. Vance of BP Banks and I am here regarding the last will and testament of a one Lionel Masterson, Owner of the Lion's Head ranch. I take it you are Miss Masterson?"

"Please, call me...

"... Sasha." you respond, "Please, come in."

Mr. Vance gingerly steps over the threshold of the porch, and moves into the foyer, removing a parchment from his coat pocket.

"I, the undersigned, Lionel William Masterson, do hereby, after mature deliberation, declare the following to be my last Will and Testament with respect to such property as may be left by me at the time of my death: All of my holdings, possessions, and property will be remanded to the possession of my daughter Sasha Masterson."

"I do dislike this business but given your fathers holdings, we felt that it was necessary t-"

"Holdings? We have a fairly simple ranch, he always said he came here after retiring from the Nitor."

"That he did, though from what it says here his land purchase consists of the woodlands and the majority of the river valley extending up into the southern highlands, all in all totalling about six hundred thousand acres of unimproved land save the three hundred used for cattle." The bespectacled banker responds smoothly handing you a sealed letter.

You open the letter to find the careful, neat handwriting of your father. "To my Darling Sasha, I have watched you grow into fine young woman. I never had much care for anything else since the death of your mother. She was a beautiful soul, and the best soldier the Arma Nitor has had in recent memory. I was just a simple medic training in the schola when we met, and never in any of my wildest dreams had imagined becoming so close to her. We were inseperable, until she began showing signs of withering, we had not even thought of having a family at this time, and her time was growing short. We resolved to have a surrogate father a child so that would at least we would be able to start a family together. We eventually had you. Your mother did not survive childbirth. You are my everything. This is why I used the money I had been saving to buy land on this frontier, to offer you something substantial. Not a meaningless bag of Isens. I watched as you grew into a fine young woman, sharp as a blade and as good a hand with a rifle as your mother was. Do what you will with all that I have given you, I know you will make me proud. Signed, your loving father, Lionel.
P.S. Please give the enclosed note to Mr. Masterson, I know he will still be there."

Wordlessly, peel a smaller envelope from its wax placement on the bottom of your note and hand it to Matt. Who takes it, opens it, and just shakes his head.

"I... I don't know what to say about this..." You manage, voice breaking slightly, "I only ever thought we had just what the ranch was. How far does this go?"

Mr. Vance responds, "Well, I'm not to sure on the specifics, but from what I understand, the entire river valley starting from your ranch and heading south into the mountain range is yours."

McCain's gruff rumble interjects, "Always had Lionel pegged for that sort, though I don't see how we'll be able to make the most of it quite yet, would take some surveying, something we really don't have the money for lest we do it ourselves."

"Yes, well, this is all well and good. If you would just sign here confirming that I came here, I do have a boat to catch. Also, just a note, I did hear talk of a gentleman interested in purchasing land around this area, if money is a concern. Regardless, I must take my leave soon." The man hands you a paper to sign, and as you do so, makes for the door with a tip of his hat.

"Well Little Missy," McCain drawls, "Looks like your the boss now all official like. Any ideas?"

You respond with a shrug of hopelessness, the gravity of being in charge of such a large area finally settling in.

"Well way I see it, we could go about seein' what's all out in that valley, Or we could see if that buyer is in Snake's Landing. Either way we are going to have to go to South Fork either just passin' through or to get provisions for in the valley. Or heck, you could just start ranching again."

>Plan?
>>
> all of these plans
Don't put your wagon before the nightmare. This is all baseless speculation.
>>
>>27890196
For now, let's take a good look at the land and maybe see who this guy is.
>>
>>27890196
We gave the note to whoever gets it, right?

Anyway, my plan is we take to surveying the land. At least until we run out of money from selling the cattle. Then, who knows.
>>
(Just a note, if anyone has any questions about the southern continent, I'm free to answer general info of what is currently known. The Lion's Head is currently about as deep into the continent that the UFK has, explored, quite literally the edge of known territory, the river valley that you apparently own splits at South Fork Which is in the north of the continent and then goes to the two major towns, Riverport and Snake's Landing, named such as it was one of the only places on this continent that a certain Paladin Serpent was at. Making her one of the few people to set foot on all 3 known continents.)
>>27890305
Yeah, you did it in the same post you were told about it. McCain didn't say much about it.
>>
>>27890255
the town's name is snake's landing? Well, we have to visit there for supplies anyhow.

We need like... wilderness junk. Whatever that would be.
>>
>>27890196
We should see this prospective buyer while we're traveling to see this parcel of land, if only by virtue of keeping our bases open for future consideration. Hell, maybe he would like to accompany us while we survey the territory.

Either way, before we commit to any venture, I think we oughta know what we have on the property. So first priority would be to restock on provisions, then getting out that way and begin the surveying process.f
>>
>>27890326
You can get the supplies at South Fork, Snake's Landing is further off and on the coast.
>>
>>27890325
>set foot on all 3 continents
hehehehe

Well, I think our best bet is surveying the land then.
We should write a missive to the buyer though, asking how much he wants and where. We could get a neighbor, if it works out right.
>>
So what have we got consensus wise, it seems a mixed bag of going all the way to Snake's Landing, with a little more pull toward surveying ourselves which will mean going to South Fork now if you want to make any reasonable progress today.
You can likely get to Snake's Landing, do any business you wish, and get back before they day is over, wheras scouting will likely take a few days. If not longer.
>>
>>27890634
Snake's landing will be there when we get back, so let's go to the fort for supplies but let's get surveying
>>
>>27890656
I agree with this.

Here's my rough take so far. Is everything in the right place?
Given how close you say we are to snake's landing, I might have to move the ranch.

Oh, and
>>27890634
If we're going scouting, we should send post to the guy at least asking what he wants. Though, I personally vote we should check in with him before surveying, so we know what type of land he wants if we happen to come across any.
>>
>>27890723
That's about perfect to be honest, though the mountain range extends east west pretty much all the way to the coast. The main reason that not much expansion has gone on here is that the mountains as thus this far have been nigh impenetrable.

So sending a message to the mystery buyer and getting supplies is the consensus? If so, writing.
>>
>>27890862
goddamnit why do mountains have to be so hard to draw

I'll fix it later. Also try to fix the scales so the valley is much farther than the villages, given travel distances and crap.
>>
>>27890723
I support this. It would pay to know what kind of person we might be doing business with, and the only way to do that is to meet him face-to-face. Our property ain't going anywhere, we can afford to take a day or two to go meet this mystery buyer.

At the very least we can send Matt back to oversee the ranch operations while we go to Snake's Landing and hold palaver with the buyer, or vice versa. Either way it's always best to have thee kinds of meetings one-on-one, not over telegraph. Especially when he only a day or two away. Sending a telegram or the equivalent would be construed as rude unless it was over an unfeasible-to-travel distance.
>>
>>27890891
well, looks like we're going scouting first. It's not a HUGE issue, just a teensy bit rude.
Unless we die while scouting, which would be extremely rude.
>>
We could perhaps use the land for even larger scale ranching. Always nice to have a constant meat supply on hand.

You nod to yourself as you come to a decision. "Well Mr. McCain, I do believe it is time for us to get ready to moonlight as surveyors."

"Just as you say miss, I take it we are headed to North Fork then? I'll get Traveller and Greenbrier ready to pull the carriage." McCain responds, heading outside and out to where the pair of horses are contentedly grazing in the pasture.

You take another look at the house. Emptier now, but still tidy, before stepping out into the morning sun. The light just now peaking about the eastern ridgeline, and it is a little jarring to realize that you own everything to that ridge. It is at that point that the carriage rolls around, it is a curious thing, built mostly to accomodate you as you grew older, with the front seating removed and the wood overlayed with a plain fabric. A small hatch on the front right allowing you to slither up to take the reigns would it be needed. You remember when your father started drafting the ideas for it and his enthusiasm for modifying the carriage when he got it. With these thoughts in mind, you make yourself comfortable as McCain tap on the hatch and you pop out.

You settle yourself in beside him, your tail still ensconced in the carriage when a thought occurs to you. "Who will handle the ranch while we take a look around the property."

A frown forms on his face, "Well you see, that's what I was sayin' about not havin' the money, I'm not to keen about headin' out alone so we'd either have to hire someone to take a look or care for the ranch, or just limit ourselves to many shorter expeditions. I suppose we'll figure that out at North Fork." Then he hands you his lever action rifle. "No sense in not being cautious. 'Specially since the hands have all left there ain't much to stop the local critters from encroachin' on the path."

maybe. I wonder what kind of crazy wildlife is on this continent.

It's apparently almost entirely unexplored.
>>
You set off relatively quietly, passing out into the woodlands following the path to South Fork. Glimpses of the River, (Having been called that during the first tentative explorations and not given a proper name since) lull you into a near drowsy state when you start to hear it. A keening and warbling screech, one you've heard many times, but not with such an intensity. Coyotes. A large pack of them too it sounds like. You are on edge, knowing how easily a pack of them, on the hunt can startle a horse. It is here that you hear something else. And undercurrent grinding noise nearly muffled by the howling. You grab McCain's shoulder and say to stop. As he does, the grinding comes to a halt. Its about then he starts reacts to the noise, as do the horses. He steadies them, and hops down, pulling out a revolver as he does. You are left holding the reigns as he looks around the carriage. You see him stop at the rear wheel.

The silence between the two of you is broken as he calls up, "Miss, there's some debris between where the axle meets the spoke of the wheel. Had we kept going, the carraige might have tipped if the wheel came loose. It'll take me a bit to fix though, I might be needin' some cover."

You give the affirmative as the keening sound gets closer, you shoulder the rifle.

You opt to hold your fire as to not attract their attention. Keeping one hand on the reigns you listen as the noise of the pack get louder. Further down the path, you see them cross the trail, bounding after something you are not sure what. However, while most of them seem intent on following what it was, a group of four break off and heading your way. This is all the sign you need. You yell to Matt over the howling to back away from the carriage and let loose a shot. The horses start a bit, prompting a bit of cursing from your foreman, as your round sails true, the lead coyote tumbles as the other three start away from the noise. They stop several yards back and look back at the fallen pack member, before a shot from McCain's revolver sets them off again. The noise of the pack dies down and McCain sets back to work, though when you look back, you see he's go the revolver near his knee. A short time later he rises triumphantly holding a nail.

"This little nuisance was the cause of it, good that you heard it, otherwise we'd a been in a bit of trouble if the whole pack had charged." He says, "Lets go see to your little trophy shall we?"
>>
>>27892718
While you are a fairly good shot, actually field dressing game is only ever something you read in one of the handbooks in your fathers study. You hear a mirthful exhale as McCain grabs the carcass and sets to work, setting the chest on a downgrade towards the riverbank. A few judicious cuts, some reaching inside when his shirtsleeves pulled up, and then simply tipping it to the side produces one gutted coyote which is then placed on the roof of the carraige.

That little bit from the old quest? Right at the beginning before it jumped to Sasha? Yeah that's right now. So about 500 years after old Citadel. Weapons tech accelerated and you are at approximately 1866 western tech with regards to that. Telegraph is a big deal back in UFK proper, but down on this continent the big means of contact between the three major towns is a network of mirror towers that transmit flashes.

You deem it the best to hold off on sending that message, you don't even know the fellows name after all, and just focus on getting supplies. You first head to the general store, and dispose of the carcass before it fouls up the roof of the carraige. A quick session haggling with the owner, a minotaur who specializes in butchering, a point of amusement among the townsfolk, nets you a fairly respectable trade in for a good amount of surveying and woodsman supplies, including an assurance that he will keep an eye on the ranch while you are indisposed.. Not much seems to be happening in this sleepy berg, though the local Nitor, during which McCain went to see if any of the old help were still in town, office appears to have a bounty on encroaching coyotes and wolves and a quick talk with the officer stationed there reveals that he has seen them increase in numbers since the ranch stopped operating a few months ago. McCain returns empty handed with regard to ranchers, but has info that the land buyer has reserved a room in the small hotel in the coming months and the local rumor mill is that he has his eyes on the valley.

Supplies well stowed, and information received, you make towards home. You know not what that valley has in store for you, but you know damn well you are going to find out.

Anyway, now that I've chortled at the minotaur butcher, I'm glad we're going to be heading out and exploring the valley.
I wonder why that other guy wants the valley. Probably just because it's huge arable land. Should be something growing here, if we don't find a better use for it.

Well, if you want to unfile off the serial numbers, you're holding a 1866 Yellowboy, and the revolver McCain has is an 1895 Nagant.
Significance of one of those will be explained later.

Nitor forces use what are effectively Sharps Carbines right now though there is some push to make them update to something with a magazine.
This ones a fun but ultimately pointless tidbit.

>1866

Cartridged ammunition has been invented, and the industrialized cities have just acquired the capability to mass produce it. This, combined with smokeless powder, makes repeating-action weapons a reality.

The three well known ones are the spencer rifle, in .56-.56 Spencer Rimfire, the Henry rifle, in .44 Henrey rimfire, and the recently produced Sharps rifle, in .45-70 Government.

All three are full-length rifle cartridges and could blow a Coyote's head clean open. Take your pick.

As for revolvers, the 1860 Army is being phased out in favor of the superior 1858 Navy. both use caplocks, as cartridge-using handguns are a bit trickier than rifles. there may also be room amongst the erudite for the LeMat revolver, which has a shotgun in it. The only cartridge-based revolver currently in use is the .22 Smith and Wesson Model 1. Pic Related.

Of course, this is another universe, so All that can be tossed into the wind on a whim. But that's where WE were at the time.

There's a bit of a window. Since there is magitechnotelevision the UFK has made a few leaps and strides, though with there has been some stagnation since the Dawnchaser's went on to his light. A lot more time spent dealing with holding the things they use to hold together than outright technological advancement.
>>27893927
Just to note, while you do maintain your rifle, you are on a ranch across the sea, you are effectively an Argentinian Rancher with an American Rifle. Its not in the BEST of shape.
>>27893928
That I can't say. Lategame it would if anything.

Also, I'm going to be a bit more... well, rules light than Echo was, a lot of quests that use dice end up getting bogged down in mechanics fights. And when you are in a situation when there is gunfire blazing, back and forth is going to be a bit complicated. There will be some dice, but thats mostly just a way to figure out which path I go, and only when it actually has something to do with chance, and not personal skill.
>>
>>27893963
I noticed the dice thing during the coyote encounter, and I have no complaints. It works for now, we'll see how it handles crazy situations later.
As for the gun thing, all the more reason to value our imported fancy gun. I think it's technically mccain's gun, but whatever, it's a good gun and we don't want it breaking. If it does, we might have to do crazy snake things.
>>
>>27893963
So the main military is still using single shot rifles, and I'm assuming that either Nitor army arsenal are a bit behind or the repeting rifles like the U.S. thought that they were too expensive and will be a waste of munnitions.

Also how much cash do we have, is our ranch okay since we have so much land their must be a big property tax
>>
>>27893998
that property tax is going to hit us hard once the government realizes we have it. We need to turn it from just land into profitable land as soon as we can.

Given your mother died before she could have taught you any of that, it is safe to assume you're only left with your base set of skills. The humanization bit was resolved in the epilogue, only major physiological effect of it on lamias is that any land spirits will have a hard time of dancing around in your head like they did Ssen.
I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of snakebutts as due to the humanization, best leave that to the readers imagination.

Humanization is an issue that arose in the later stages of the original quest, an issue in which the monsterfolk were, through subsequent generations, becoming more an more human. It was an issue that ended up costing the Harpies their distinguishing facial features before it got resolved. Most of it however, was minor.

Has the phoenix empire made it to our continent yet? are there any natives (monster or otherwise)? Can Sasha learn magic?
>>
>>27901156
Remember there was the land of clear sky or w/e the fuck it was called. Formed from the kingfishers colony. And the phoenix empire wasn't communist. That's why I said Imperial. They are a monarchy. You can have racism without a reference to Germany.

Our "continent" is still the same os the UFK. Just south so Eitins I would think would be a thing. And magic wise we would need an innate talent for it.
>>
>>27901156

PE ruled the southern continent for a good while (centuries?) before the bloody LOS liberation campaign. I assume the current story takes place in the now-liberated, but uncivilized and tumultuous LOS wilderness.
>>
>>27900966
they were actively stealing our magitech back then.
Nowadays they could have probably even improved it.
>>27901156
I don't know about any of your questions, but sasha can PROBABLY learn magic, given her dragon ancestry. Ssen did something similar, acting as a walking magic leyline for mage.

>>27901419
I think we're in some other continent entirely. To the south?
>>
>>27902363
Arn't we on the other side of the desert that purple sands was a part of?
>>
>>27902480
I think we're at the northern end of a new continent. Probably that one that was being mentioned in the epilogue. I am mostly basing this around the two cities further down the river called "riverport" and "serpent's landing", as that implies a coast directly to the north. A nearby northern coast would preclude being on the southern tip of the UFK continent.
>>
I can honestly imagine Sasha being a really good sniper. Heightened Senses stealthy movement, and a tail that can support the rifle wherever she is.
>>
>>27902618
I was more imagining some kind of quick draw kind of deal. I mean, we've GOT good senses, but they're sort of tooled for closer range, thermal vision and all. We've also got a super fast reflex speed.

Though, you're right about the sneaking around and tail supported rifles part. We could carry as crazy a rifle as we want. Maybe even a gatling, if we're just being silly.

Based on the map, it looks like the desert south of Purple Sands is exactly that-a lifeless desert. It forms a natural barrier that, in addition to the straits/oceans between the continents, separates the north continent (the UK) with the south (LOS). The 'north' continent is called that because the massive mountain ranges that separate the Orc lands from the UK are only passable in a few select areas. That, combined with the difference in weather, makes it like a whole other world. hence the different 'continents'.

The equator itself likely lies somewhere in the desert (Purple Desert?), and is uninhabitably hot and dry. Here there be Ettins, as few other humanoids would likely enjoy living in such an area. Maybe lamias. Depends on how hard it is to get sand out of your scales.
>>
>>27902698
I am almost 100% certain lamias would love the deserts. Or at least, the borders of the deserts, since deserts themselves sometimes have a bad case of the nofoods.
>>
>>27902673
Nah gotta go with something PTRD big. But yeah a lamia gunfighter would be really scary. A quick quick draw specalist.

>>27902698
The desert has to end somewhere. Even if it's as large as the sahara or the gobi.
>>
>>27902758
oh, it totally does end. The LOS is to the south of it. The real question is whether or not we're in the LOS. Or anywhere near it.

As for antitank rifles, well, I am not opposed. I think the period equivalent is something closer to an elephant gun though. We'll purchase one the moment we see something too big to shoot dead with our normal rifle.
>>
>>27902850
Elephant gun, ptrd. Both are guns made for shooting something so big no sane man should be shooting at.
>>

With regards to the land barony stuff earlier? That deal was to promote immigration and settling. It is no longer the case with new property. You are currently grandfathered in as it were.

>korean war

Ehh, I dunno...I can understand if the tech level would be around there, but UFK (and allies) vs PE (and allies) would be nothing short of the single greatest and most terrible war in this planet's history. Not even the war that created Citadel spanned across the oceans and multiple continents. It'd be a world war, methinks.
>>
>>27906282
I can imagine a large portion of the war would be an airship war over the ocean
>>
>>27906282
don't worry, there's no way the PE will make peace with their traditional enemies and come after us. Completely unprecidented.

wish I had a picture of hitler and stalin shaking hands

>>27906461
I was thinking more traditional naval combat. Airships are nice, but normal boats are nice too. Entirely depends on the reliability and ease of creation of hovering apparatuses.
Alternatively, they could all be normal boats who could become airships for a short duration before needing to recharge.

gunsmiths will be here, but it seems like we are going to be spending most of our time in the wilderness. so personally think we should get our cattle buisness back up and running so that we have a place to come home to.

hell if you want to go all out we can establish a township on our land somewhere and have our own gunsmith and place to stay and to stash our shit in between forays into the wilderness, somewhere farther south along the river, rivers are notoriously good for trade.

just a suggestion
>>
>>27907174
and they dont have to nuke to shut them up.

you know the predicted body counts for the invasion of japan? 10to1. one of our soldiers per their ten , and 1 million casualties for us. you do the math. then add magic, and a fucking angry land spirit
>>
>>27909053
A township would be nice, but first we have to find something for it to assemble around. Like... a resource. Just being on a river isn't enough, unless there's something useful at the end of that river.

well the usefullness would be the ends of the river. the North (trade with the civilized world) and The Southern Wilderness (all the goodies of untapped lands).

We would make it a trading source. the place people go when they go south. unless that southern town has that spot filled, then we just take that spot from them by say either A. you're on our land get the fuck our, or B. creating a town farther south.

but we do need something to start it around. could be anything really, but more likely a group of things and a process.

1. find a proper place. must have open land(framing/cattle, river access, forest, and probably some sort of resource neary by.

2.find some settlers, probably gonna have to go to the UFK for that.

3. convince settles to come down to this place on your land . gonna need people like farmers and for whatever sort of business would use the nearby resource you have if you have one, business owners like shop keepers blacksmiths and average shit, also probably someone willing to do boat trips south, and probably someone who can appraise any strange items we bring back. it would be best for them to be able to be self sufficent so as not to rely too much on travel south trade. say 'new opprutunities" and "cheap land that we will allow you to build on for a small precent/fee"
and other such bullshit.

4. bring them south and establish township. make sure everything is going fine. fix thier problems, defend town. see about geting a small nitor post their.

then everything is good and we have money and a staging point to single handedly settle the new continent and succeed from the UFK and create our new country with its immortal ruler. (optional).

Your partner is Elf Sam Elliot. You own a ranch whose holdings are the same size as the ponderosa, and you just rode a horse drawn carraige into town to get a supplies to effectively go prospecting. The climate you are exploring is the same one that the Virginian based their episodes in. If I get any more western I am going to shit a ten gallon hat.

Keep in mind, I did factor in some of the enthusiasm for Klondike adventures there for our starting point. As for starting a town? I'm not going to stop you from attempting to, and as for climate? In the 'tropics' part of the north? Florida Everglades and Louisiana Bayou type business, not amazon.

No, I chose that size for a reason that is stated above. Your father basically claimed a valley between two downgrades of a mountain. The estimate is 600,000 acres until you get to the tree line of the mountain proper.
The big deal with the southern continent that only a few small strips on the north are easily accessible. There have been a few expeditions to try and cross the mountains to see the inner part of the continent, but none have been successful that you know of.

Last question, do you have an ADVENTURE planned out for this question or are you taking it as it comes for now?
>>
>>27910835
Best not to sell it since we will more than likely be around for when this land will be worth 10 times as much. There is a reason someone is buying land in the area indiscriminately, means he either works for a developer or works for someone trying to turn a profit.

Or someone trying to prevent expansion into the continent

Not going to force you to read it, but everything on the Southern Continent is my own design, not Echo's, and both the tone and how I handle the quest is going to be different. I'd elaborate more, but I need to bugger off to work. Just know that this is my world now, and you might just like what I have.

I too have a few issues with the first quest. I mean, if I were 100% satisfied with his ending, do you really think I'd make another?
>>
>>27915637
>everything on the Southern Continent is my own design, not Echo's, and both the tone and how I handle the quest is going to be different
Then you are doing yourself a massive disservice by attaching it to LDQ. I know that will keep me from reading it and there's many others who feel the same way.
>>
>>27915361
Well, then it is your fault for biasing yourself against a possibly amazing quest.

I personally love when stories go on for a long time, encompassing multiple overall quest goals. it feels more like you are really involving yourself in the characters full life, and it doesn't truly 'end' until the characters death. And death doesn't mean bittersweet, it's only bittersweet if they died failing or in an unsatisfactory way. At least in my opinion
>>
>>27916200
>it's only bittersweet if they died failing or in an unsatisfactory way
Thats just plain bitter, dipshit. Bittersweet would be finally getting to have your impossible magic lesbobabby, only for your bugwaifu to die in the night before she was born, like what happened in LDQ. The whole epilogue was hokey and contrived as all hell and I'm not much interested in a continuation.
>>
>>27916274
Well that's your opinion, just keep in mind that it is a completely different story set in the same universe.

It's only a continuation if you use the same characters, or a character that was an intrical part of the story. And you have to be following the overall 'goal' of the story.
>>
>>27917058
>Well that's your opinion
No, its the definition of the fucking word.
>just keep in mind that it is a completely different story set in the same universe
A universe that wasn't very good in the first place and carries a stigma with it. You cant expect to piggyback off of a fanbase by pandering to them without getting the bad that also comes from using a recognizable name.

If its similar to LDQ then I want nothing to do with it and if its different then he shouldn't have set it in the same universe.
>>
>>27917476
By opinion I was talking about your opinion on the ending

I thought it was a great universe, it was definitely new and unique.

And I don't think he was pandering to the fanbase since he isn't trying to make money off of it. He is doing this completely of his regard with no payment for it. The only possible reason for him to be doing this is personal enjoyment and because he was inspired. I think it was more a combination of the two.

The similarities are simply in the universe used. I had at least 3 other quest ideas, but each of those used an already established universe or were picking up where a QM had to drop the quest, Looking at you Stalker Civ. The draw to this, is that the universe evolved entirely on /tg/ and it fit exceedingly well with a lot of campaign plots I've used DM'ing, allowing me to shamelessly put old plots in for your enjoyment.

And that's what it all comes down to, I'm only here for your entertainment. If you folks don't end up enjoying this? I've not done my job. I'm not trying to make a point, or force an aesop home, just trying to be a good storyteller.

Also, really trying hard to enjoy this, I love Echo's setting, the only problem I'm having with this quest it....

...I have a deep set unreasonable hatred of the western setting.

Don't worry it isn't actually western. the only think western about it is the tech level so think western level tech with magic. i don't think there actually is any desert anywhere near us

basically magic adds a hundred years to your standard level of tech. at least in my opinion.

Hullo now? What's this? More Lamia Quest after studies meant I missed the ending for the first one?

Huzzah.
