You are Christopher Phillips, previously just another teenage nerd living in a small English town, and a lot of things have changed in your life since you died.

"In this matter, the Judgement of the King of the Spring Court is..."

You used to be a pretty patient guy. Of course, before last month you were just waiting for new games or the latest season of Dr Who, not life-or-death judgements. You’d swear he’s dragging this pause out on purpose. It seems like it’s been days. You think you’re really starting to hate the Fae.

“In favour of the Ambassador’s proposal. The mortal woman will be remanded in custody to the Ambassador in the manner set out by the Treatise on...”

You breathe a massive sigh of relief, tuning out the long list of treatises and legal principles the King has begun to recite, before realising that someone’s nudging you in the ribs.

No, wait, you’re nudging yourself in the ribs. What the heck?

“Damn it, kid, pay attention.”

“.. And thus the Ambassador will take custody of the prisoner, for her to be subject to suitable mortal vengeance, and she will be returned to this court in a year and a day’s time.”

... You’re really starting to hate the Fae.

“Let the judgement of the King be sealed and recorded and known to all of our subjects. Step forward, the next petitioner before the Throne.”

Avril’s father waves a hand in your direction, and a mass of green vines bursts out of the ground near his throne. The vines open up to reveal Jill’s mother, Margaret White, not looking too much worse for wear. She’s unconscious, but not bruised or bloody, and you can’t see any obvious wounds or marks. Jill runs forward and grabs her mother as the vines retreat into the earth, straining a little as her mother’s form slumps against her.

Between the three of you, you’re able to carry Mrs White to the edge of the forest without too much more hassle. Avril assures you that there shouldn’t be any side effects from the magical sleep, and without being maintained it’ll wear off in a few hours. Although speaking of sleep, you’re getting quite tired yourself. Whatever you’re going to do, it might be a good idea to do it quickly. You’re not going to get much sleep tonight either way, but you’d like to get at least a little - it’s still a school day tomorrow.

What’s your plan now?

[]Carry Mrs White back to her home and leave her there. Maybe when she wakes up she’ll think it was all a dream?
[]Lock her up somewhere for the night. You can work out what to do with her later, but right now she needs to be contained.
[]Try and find a way of getting her committed to a mental hospital straight away. Okay, so it’s the middle of the night, but surely those places are open all hours?

Ok, if we're locking her up, then we need to tell Miranda what happened, and get her to commit her sister to a mental institution.
Having a family member, rather than a minor or the child do it, should be a little more effective.
>>
>>27919157
Agreed. Miranda doing it would be the best option.
>>
>>27918723
"Well. That went well."

Avril sighs. "At least we got her out. For all the good it'll do us when she wakes up, of course. And a year and a day is a pretty long time. It's not ten years, but it's long enough for us to find some other solution."

Jill looks up at you, still hugging her mother tightly. "What do we do now, though? We can't just... leave her."

"We can't let her go running around, Jill. She'll just go right back there. Do we have anywhere we can lock her in?"

There's a brief pause, and Jill's eyes turn hard. "I know somewhere. Let's take her home." She raises her hand, and her mother's unconscious body rises into the air and floats gently behind her as she walks down the street. You share a glance with Avril, and follow carefully, watching the houses as you pass. It's probably about 2am, and the streets are totally deserted, but there's still the chance someone might be looking out of a window.

Fortunately you make it to Jill's house without any trouble, and Jill sets to work clearing some things out of a small closet on the ground floor. Once she's satisfied, she places her mother inside and shuts the door, and you can see a clasp and a hefty-looking padlock on the outside of the door.

"That ought to hold her for a while," Avril says, carefully examining the padlock. "What the hell were you keeping in here that needed a lock this big?"

Jill looks away and ignores the question, ushering you both out of the house so that she can get a bit of sleep.

Fortunately, when you wake up on Wednesday you don't feel as horribly exhausted as you normally would after a few hours of sleep. Unexpected bonus of death, maybe. In any case, you can still get to school fairly early. There's a few people hanging around out front - you don't see Cassandra or Jill, but Avril and Isabella are here, carefully sitting well apart. Zack's over on the basketball court exercising, and... huh. Jill's social worker, Anne, is hanging around.

What do you want to do?
>>
Sweet! I'm early for once.

On today's to-do list.

> talk to Avril about being a little more responsible

> check in on Gloria and make sure she is cool

> get together with Isabella to hopefully get her back to her old feisty self

> fulfill hunger

>??????

>>
>>27919187
Let's touch base with Belle.

I think we should try and did out if we may have passed her any of our own powers accidently.
>>
>>27919191
This looks like a good list, but add in talking to Anne.
>>
>>27919229
If she has our power, she will have hungers.

I suppose that's the easiest way to check if she was given something we are not aware of.

The Man is a kind of guy who would neglect to tell us he is now talking to Isabella as well. Maybe even telling her that she is the only one.
>>
>>27919187
>"That ought to hold her for a while," Avril says, carefully examining the padlock. "What the hell were you keeping in here that needed a lock this big?"
Avril is like a retarded alien. For fuck's sake, you damn faerie, how are you so bad with humans? Good Lord.
>>

((Okay, writing))
>>
Not a lot of people here yet... But I suppose most Americans are still at work.
>>
We have to do something about the vampire girl soon
>>
>>27919644
Ah yes. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm thinking Belle might assist us in this regard. Her Queen powers could possibly snare one of Cassys thralls.
>>
>>27919677
Or, alternatively, we could simply use Avril to bind Cassy into our servitude similar to how Belle had her. We may even be able to have our own powers command her.

Then we have a gorgeous, submissive vampire.
>>
>>27919734
And then we start a legion of undead.

Daily reminder, that inside every person you have ever met, and every person you've ever known, there is a Skeleton walking around inside them.

How. Horrifying.
>>
>>27919734
Although Avril may not understand it, there's a difference between "submissive woman who voluntarily became ours" and "woman who we mind-fucked into submissiveness." Let's not forget that.
>>
>>27919768
Something tells me Cassy enjoys being held back.
>>
>>27919497
You stroll over to where Isabella is leaning against a wall, idly playing with her phone, and nod to her. She gives you a curt nod in return, stands up, and steps around a corner, and you follow after a moment.

"Okay, Chris. What's up?"

"Nothing urgent, just seeing how you're doing. Making sure you're not getting hungry."

Isabella raises an eyebrow at you. "What? Are we not supposed to need to eat? That'd be pretty handy for maintaining my figure, but it hasn't happened to me yet. Still getting hungry, still needing chips and salads and so on."

"Uh, not quite what I meant. Any other hungers? Like, weird supernatural stuff."

Isabella shakes her head firmly. "Nothing like that. My magic's all still the same, except for that little extra channel in the back of my head... oh, speaking of which, did you do something weird last night? Around ten-ish, I guess?"

"Something weird? What do you mean?"

"I don't know exactly, I just got this headache all of a sudden, and it didn't feel natural. Never had anything like that before, so I figured it was probably something to do with you."

"It might have been to do with your old boss, actually. It's dead now."

Isabella sighs audibly. "Oh, thank fuck. Hopefully that'll mostly defuse Jason, too - he'll still have whatever stock he's got, but he won't be getting any more. What happened?"

"Ajani and his friends, mostly. With a little help from me. That's not an issue, is it?"

Isabella shrugs. "Any port in a storm, right? Just keep an eye on them. They're too self-righteous for my tastes, the lot of them."

"I'm working on that. Anyway, if anything does start changing magic-wise, let me know. And do you have any plans for dealing with Cassandra?"

Isabella shrugs. "Not right away. I can blackmail her again, I guess, and you might be able to trick her into joining up with me again. She's not vital, though. You've got all her abilities of control and more.

Was there anything else, Chris?"
>>
>>27920085
"It's not about her being vital. it's about her going out and murdering people because you kept her starving. Why did you do that anyway?"
>>
>>27920115
Thats what we would want to do too. You know, keep her fromfeeding on humans.
>>
>>27920115
Yes, this.
>>
>>27920158
Nope.I think she needs to feed on humans regularly or she goes crazy and sucks them dry. The safest way would be to let her regularly feed small amounts of blood, preferably from willing targets
>>
>>27920085
"Sure. I think we should spend a little time together to sort out some long term goals. You are an invaluable asset to me, but also a friend, and I think we are going to have a very, very long partnership... We could benefit from a little brain trust"

"Not to say I don't have other things in mind... I wouldn't be a man if a woman like you was anything I could resist"
>>
>>27920085
"We should get to know each other abit better sometime. We're both immortal now, so I expect us to work together for a long time"

Totally not hoping for an addition to the Harem
>>
>>27920258
>not enjoying the slowly developing MonsterHarem Quest

Are we not entitled to enjoy the fruits of our success? We will rule the world someday and uplifting these women is a kindness our grace can bestow upon them.
>>
>>27920371
>We will rule the world someday
You know, I've been thinking:
Why was the Man in a position to need a meat-host such as ourselves?
He's already intimated that he's had multiple hosts before, and he says that he's immortal. What happened to those previous hosts?

It sounds like his arrogance always gets the best of him, and gets his meat-host killed permanently in some way, usually far short of complete global domination.
And the fact that he's never learned to correct it over his self-admitted millenia, getting himself and his hosts killed time and again, concerns me.
>>
>>27920115
>>27920181
>>27920189

>>27920222
>>27920258
>>27920371

((Bah, having connection issues again. Writing, though.))
>>
>>27920432
I think that the man is only as capable as the mortal he champions, and while he is the major source of our dominating powers, we ourselves are in control of our own ambitions.

It's not so much that the man losses control, but that his hosts get too ambitious and end up being put down.
>>
>>27920498
"We need to do something about Cassandra soon. It's not just about how vital she is. She's killing people. Apparently you kept her starving - why'd you do that, anyway?"

Isabella stares at you. "Uh, *because* she kills people? I wasn't going to let her drain any of my people dry. And I didn't particularly feel like murdering random people just so she could get her fix. I made sure she got enough blood to keep going, but she'd happily have taken everything they had to give and more."

"There's no way to keep her fed regularly from a bunch of people? Split it up between several donors so none of them lose too much?"

Isabella shrugs. "That's more or less what I did, but I still had to pull her off each person to get her to let go early. And even with a bit of tweaking behind their eyes, there's still a bit of a shortage of people willing to let someone bite into their flesh and drain out a bunch of their blood."

"Well, anyway, we should do something before there's more deaths. Three people went missing on Sunday, and she told me she drained one of them dry. We got one of them back, but she's still got the last guy. Anything you can do to rescue him?"

Isabella shrugs. "Not knowing where he is, who he is, or anything about him? No. Sorry, but no. Get me face-to-face with the guy and I *might* be able to snap him out of it. That's about it."

"Okay, well, we'll work on that. Also, we should get together at some point. We're going to be working together for quite a long time, and I don't really know you all that well, so we should do something about that. Talk about goals, plans, partnership. And just generally get to know each other. Does that sound good?"

Isabella pauses, and looks away from you. "Just as long as people don't get the idea we're dating or something, okay? You may have saved my life and everything, but I still have to think about my position, if you want me to be a useful 'partner'. We'll work something out."

Your first lesson of the day is Geography. Ajani, of course, is absent. Presumably he’s still recuperating from getting shot. Hopefully with some magical assistance he’ll be back soon, though - you could do with some backup as and when you take on the Winter King. More worryingly, Jill is still missing too. You hope nothing’s gone wrong with her mother, again. Masami is in her usual spot near the back, looking quite perky, all things considered. There’s a space where Ajani usually sits, too, in the middle of the class near the sports guys. You might be able to chat to Zack a bit, but there would probably be quite a few people in easy listening distance. Or you could take a seat on the other side of the class, next to Cassandra, who’s staring distractedly out of the window.

>>
>>27921211
Sit with Masami. It's been a long couple of days, and some time with a friend will be nice. Also, Zack is inconvenient to talk to with potential eavesdroppers around, and I don't think just *talking* to Cass will be very productive.

Although we should definitely talk to Zack later- it occurs to me that he might know more about Apollo than Isabella does. Apollo is also sort of a sports guy, right?
>>
>>27921211

This
>>
>>27921211
Sit by Cassandra, cuz it would be good to tell her about her thrall. Also, we should straight up ask her if she wants a job as some muscle on our team. No trickery needed, although we could always find a way to dominate her at a later date.
>>
>>27921211
Sit next to Masami.
And no one has actually asked if Blood Bank donor blood is any good for Cassandra; everyone just assumes that it needs to come from a still living human.
>>
>>27921211
Sit by Cass and give her a heads up about possibly pinning the blame on the 'demon' last night.

This may just be my fetish talking, but we should offer a little blood to Cassandra...

>holding the back of her head, staring down at the beautiful vampire on her knees as she laps the tainted blood from our undead wrist.

Hedonistic revelry probably excites him, and our blood is probably deliciously sweet to the dead.
>>
>>27922274
Could you host a q&a with the man in white possibly? Nothing fancy of course.
>>
>>27922316

>>
>>27922567
(( Well, feel free to ask other questions. And I wouldn't outright lie to you guys in an OOC Q&A session anyway. Someone, wherever they went, apparently wanted to ask him some things, though. ))
>>
>>27922368
What would happen if we fed a vampire our blood? Would they become a double undead?
>>
>>27922368
So, what happened to your previous hosts? You burn them out, or someone force you out?

And the idea of hedonistic revelry by handing out our blood; how bad of an idea is it?
>>
>>27923061
(( It would probably be pretty unpleasant and they'd likely throw it up again, like drinking sour milk. At least, Cassandra, the only vampire you know of, requires her blood alive, human, warm, and pretty much straight from the vein. ))
>>
>>27923079
I can give you advice, but if you choose to do something stupid anyway and get yourself killed, that's hardly my fault. You're not invincible.

Hedonistic revelry? It's just blood, kid, it's not suddenly some wonder drug just because you're running on a supply of real power now. I mean, sure, someone with a bit of talent could extract useful things from it, but that's hardly the same as 'drink this and get high'. Besides, if I were you I'd keep an eye on my blood. Just because it won't get you high doesn't mean people wouldn't find it valuable.
>>
>>27923141
Sweet. So we can offer her some of our blood, then when she takes it and starts to gag, BAM, surprise attack!
>>
>>27923300
So what are your opinions on Heaven and Hell anyway?
>>
>>27923951
Oh, don't get me started on those idiots, kid. I've got no particular interest in beauty or love - the important thing is power. And I've got no interest in wasting my time with their war, either. I'm busy enough as it is. The angels and devils can both go hang for all I care.

Not that one necessarily says such things to an angel or devil's face, of course. But even then, there are polite ways of telling the bastards to fuck off.
>>
>>27924088
Interesting.
>>
>>27923492
You realize vampires can smell the difference between live blood and dead, right?
>>
>>27924183
Oh, I must have forgotten that from Vampirology 101, the official college course on the subject of vampires, a race of creatures that actually exists and is not made up with whatever arbitrary characteristics the author picked.
>>
>>27924183
>>27924205
((Rather more importantly, Cassandra drinks *warm* blood, straight from the vein. Chris' s skin, veins, and blood are all notably cold. ))
>>
>>27924244
So if we sat in the hot tub for long enough, *maybe*.
>>
>>27924297
I'm now wondering if you could bless the water in a person to make them ~60% holy water and if so how long that would last and whether it would be enough to confer some sort of immunity/resistance to vampires. Thanks I guess?
>>
>>27924088
Is being dead or the host of some ancient being a prerequisite for magical power, or is there some way to gain it through independent study or just by having it in the blood?
>>
>>27925164
((Avril and Isabella have both demonstrated magical power, and you're fairly sure neither of them is host to anything. Miranda also mentioned mages at one point, although you don't know much about them.))
>>
>>27925164

>>
>>27929770
>you're fairly sure neither of them is host to anything.

Yup, totally convinced.
>>
>>27934841
((Hey, I wouldn't be doing my job as the master of paranoia and speculation if I didn't leave at least some doubt. But you have no evidence that magic does require you to be possessed, plenty of evidence that it doesn't, and no compelling reason to believe that it does. Not to mention that several people have commented on how weird and unique your own magic is. ))
