Hello, /tg/. How have you been?
Woodkid and Warframe have occupied my week so far, but now, it is time for Digimon.

The twitter is at: https://twitter.com/DigimonQuest
The archive is here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Digimon%20Quest
The stat sheets are here: http://pastebin.com/u/DigimonQuest
The Storybook is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vIIWBQ-sHlw3PZ4D4yH9hiIl8YiqEVpy1ZUztKlSzzs

Dice Rules: I take the best of the first three, and any crits within the first five. Critical twenties can be stored and expended as save points. Luck rolls can be made to increase (or decrease) chances of success (or failure) on another roll or to influence travel sequences.

LAST TIME ON DIGIMON QUEST:
Daniil and Niklas had just learned about the dead zones, and the order for any humans traveling with digimon to be eliminated, before they were told of several factions trying to make a difference: The mysterious "hermits", who appear to be searching for a way to end the threat of the dead zones, and the enigmatic Don, leader of the city where the rumor of the hit put out on the humans originated from.

>Now, back to the Quest...

After staring at the (mostly blank) map for a few seconds, the digimon nods, and points off.... to the east.

"It was somewhere around that way, last I heard. They're always moving, but word is they stop frequently to help out whoever they can. Not that they can do much besides beat up anyone causing trouble." He grouses, and sits back against the rock. "Can I go now?"

You share a look with your friends: Niklas seems thoughtful, Impmon's still scowling at the blue digimon, and Kokuwamon just shrugs. The Goblin-like digimon from earlier's snuck off in all the confusion it seems, but you'd probably be able to find him again if you tried.

>[] Yeah, sure.

>[] No- show us the way

>[] other?
>>
Hah, finally I get to come here right at the start!
Hiya Guile, hope you had a good week playing Warframe.
>>
[X] No- show us the way

Worked for Wayne and Zoe, it'll totally work for Niklas and Daniil.
Also, Gale, you doing alright?
Sounded a little sad on twitter there.

>It's just the consequences of trying to build a frame when the parts to it drop less than 10% of the time, nothing too big.
>>
>>27954474
So, far as I understand it, we've got 3 real options, here.
We either let him go (not a good idea - he might just have lied to us, and how could we know... or he might decide to inform the guy in charge of the city), we force him to be our guide, or... we kill him.
Personally, I'd prefer to make him show us, because that way we get the most possible advantage out of this.
>>
>>27954474
Hey this is starting earlier than expected!
Very nice - gives us more time to handle this.
>>
>>27954560
Ah, good - was worried you were being sad about something.
Glad to know that's not the case, though.
>>
Hey, Gale, I remember you from the Bleach quest.
What I'm trying to ask is... think we could get some art as well?
That might help encourage more activity here.
>>
>>27954474
You know, reading through the stats... I have to wonder if the human and digimon associated attribute would be related to one another.
I man, Harmony and Empathy seem to fit rather well together.
>>
>>27954736
Also, I think I got speculation on what that 33 is on Sally's sheet - it's measuring when we can spend points to make her become LadyDevimon.
>>
>>27954664
Actually... I remember Gale saying something about having some art already done for the Quest?
Can we see some?
>>
>>27954474
Wait we can find the goblin?
Do we have to split up for that?
Because that'd seem like a pretty bad idea...
But I don't want to risk someone being able to inform the Don about this.
>>
>>27954474
Gale, you there?
>>
>>27954664
I could...try...
doe some reason, I'm rather hesitant to draw for Digimon Quest- mostly because I know I'll end up drawing things that haven't happened yet or would be considered spoilers like what >>27954779 turned into. I was only trying to draw the kids (who you haven't even met all of yet) but it turned into each of them with their digimon in forms you not only haven't reached yet, but haven't even locked in yet.

basically? We'll see if I can't draw something that isn't a massive spoiler, and when I manage it without my imagination running wild, then I'll post them.

>>27954840
You'd have to split up, yes, but that doesn't mean he IS working for the Don. It's a bit of a risk either way.

>>27954760
I cannot confirm that.
>>

and it begins.

Also, what is with captcha being completely illegible lately?

>>27954989
More or less, but I'd like to give you a bit more time to plan or come up with different answers if that's what you want.
>>
>>27954983
...Yeah, I'm going to vote for not splitting up, then.
Better to just get moving, if we split up we might be walking into another ambush or something, and we need to hurry to get to meet the hermits

Also, would not mind seeing a pic or two...
up to you, of course
>>
>>27954983
>I cannot confirm that.
Hm...
?????????: 33/??? {BONUS: ??? ?? ??? ???}[???]

9 letters... what could that be.
>>
>>27954989
>>27955017
Yeah, think that's the best way to go forward.

Sooner we can meet the hermits, the sooner we can tell them about the message we go, and also how the Don put out a hit on us, and so on.
>>
>>27954983
Could take inspiration from what we've currently got...?
But yeah, understandable if inspiration is hard to come by.
>>
Since we're going to be traveling... how far are we from seeing either Impmon or Kokuwamon digivolving?

Also, let's remember that we should talk about naming our digimon.
>>
Anyone against forcing the captive digimon to show us the way?
If not, I definitely think we should do that.

...Yeah, I'm thinking that the associated attributes of those who can become Demon Lords will continue to 'evolve', together with the Digimon in question.
And this also points towards Kokuwamon not being destined to become a Demon Lord.

>They were always creepy, though.

"...I do not think it would be smart of you to just leave," You reply, and you can see the digimon bristle at your words. Not that you care, really. Anything he pulls now is just his bark- you've already pretty much established that he has no bite.

"And why wouldn't it be Smart" he spits the word back at you angrily, "to get out of where while I can and while nobody else is after you?" Wait...

Shit.

He has a point- he's not the only digimon out to get you. Hell, for all you know, that digimon you fought yourself was one of this "Don's" men- Digimon- lackies, too.

Still, you don't concede. The fact remains that he could be lying through his fangs to get out of this.

"And how do we know you're not leading us straight to the Don yourself?" You ask, leaning closer to make your point. Before the digimon can answer, though-

"Daniil, that's enough. We don't want to scare him anymore than we already have-" He suddenly cuts himself off, and doesn't finish, but his reproachful look conveys the rest of his feelings on the matter regardless; he doesn't really like the way you've been interrogating your captive, and he's making that known. Well, that's just too bad- the guy tried to kill your whole group, and he isn't getting off that easy.

"I don't trust him," you state, and to your surprise, Niklas nods.

"And I know you don't- but if we want his help, we have to make him *want* to help us." He urges. Damnit, there he goes again, being all persuasive when he really wants to be. Your friend's heart bleeds too much for his own good.

You nod, get back up, and move to stand a bit further away, letting Niklas work his nice-guy magic on the digimon.

Meanwhile, you notice Kokuwamon spacing out...almost as if he's listening to something...

Damnit.

You curse as you realize it at roughly the same time as the robot beetle, while Impmon and Niklas look on surprised at the sudden change. They haven't figured it out yet, but you know:

You're being watched. The frustrating thing is that you can't see from where, or by whom. And you don't care.

You're already moving by the time you hear it- a low, muted buzz off in the distance...to the south, you think. You pull Niklas to his feet, grabbing you packs and the spears, and motion for the digimon to follow. Kokuwamon seems to have caught on, picking up Impmon once more and lifting off the ground (must to your partner's ire, if the yelling is to be believed). With the droning growing louder, you set off-

...And also I'd prefer to have the Hermits backing us up.
They can do that right?

[x] East, towards where you were pointed to find the Hermits

I don't like that buzz. We better be light on our feet.
>>
>>27957360
Plus it might get us some safety, if we can get there soon enough.
We're the Chosen, they've got to like us... right?
And if they're the Hermits, then they've got to be reasonable powerful.

East. You need to head East.

By now, the others have all heard the noise, and are running as well, Niklas surprisingly keeping pace with you for the most part, while the digimon you just met outpaces the two of you by a couple of meters, his speed not all that surprising given his inhuman nature. Kokuwamon's flight easily allows him to stay with the group, flying low enough to not be spotted by whatever is pursuing you.

You're running and running for a long time- longer than you should be, you think to yourself, but the dim recognition of something being wrong with this place is overwhelmed by the fact that you're being chased by SOMETHING.
Eventually, you begin to notice the ground losing its gray and cracked appearance, and begin to take on more browns and tans- even a couple small plants here and there.

You must be out of the Dead Zone, you realize, and for a moment, your spirits lift...

And then....oh no.

No.
This can't be happening.

All of you stumble to a stop as you stare at just what is right in front of you....and to the sides.

Water. A River. A Fucking HUGE River. That....that would explain the grass growing on the banks, wouldn't it?

And the droning buzz continues to grow louder.

God damn it.

Yeah, let's go with that; they should be far enough away that it could work.

...Let's also make sure that Impmon and Kokuwamon have the guy who is to be our guide in sight, though - need to make sure he can't call these things down on us.
>>
>>27958475

>>
How good are Daniil and Niklas at swimming?

Oh, or crafts - can either of them build something that can float?
Not for now, but for later, this river could be very handy.
>>
>>27958574

>>
>>27958507

>1, 14, 19, 1

There's no bridge or ferry in sight, no buildings or constructs as far as the eye can see, and you can't see any sort of cover, natural or otherwise.

There's a light scuffing sound behind you, but when you turn back, Niklas and the blue digimon are nowhere to be seen. Kokuwamon's standing by the riverbank, and Impmon's vanished as well.

The Drone grows louder, until finally-

The ground underneath you gives way. You have a split second to look down, and notice that the thin layer of sand and dirt you're standing on was just a cover over-

The stone trap door opens fully, sending both you and Kokuwamon down, down, down, the daylight above you beginning to shrink and dim as you fall...

onto a very large, very soft- compared to the alternative- mountain of sand.

You take a moment to gather your wits as you sit up. Somehow, you walked right over a stone door built into the ground by the riverbed, and from the lack of anything chasing you, you managed to do it just in time.

How...lucky.

However, you now have sand in all your clothes.

Standing up- as best you can, anyway, you and Kokuwamon, who it seems flew down once he realized the trap door was there, take a look around.

The shaft you're in- isn't really a shaft. It's actually really cavernous now that you get a good look at it.

You can't see Niklas, Impmon, or the blue furball anywhere.

Well shit.
Uh, we need to find Impmon and Niklas ASAP.

[x] Look to Kokuwamon
-[x] "Did you see where Niklas and Impmon ended up?"
>>
>>27959847
Fiddle with digivice some, see if there's some way of talking to them?
>>
>>27959847
So, Niklas and Impmon are somewhere (hopefully together).
While we're alone with Kokuwamon.
WELL THEN.

[x] Check Digivice, see if we can find where Impmon is - or talk to him, you remember Wayne managing that.
>>
>>27959922
How about we combine this with my vote
>>27959901
?
>>
>>27959847
>>27959922
>Fiddle with digivice some, see if there's some way of talking to them?
>>
>>27959964
If there is a way, we could have Impmon tell Niklas (if they're near near each other) to use this to talk to Kokuwamon.
Could use this to communicate with one another - or maybe there's something there that we could use to communicate with other digivices.
Which, boy, would that be handy.
>>
>>27959847
I just want to say I hope you do run sunday as well.
Two days a week gives more people time to be part of it.But if something needs to be done in real life, then I understand.
>>
Seems we've got some form of consensus?
>>
>Sorry, I've been talking about lightsabers with a friend.

>>27959922
>>27959937
>>27959964
So, fiddle with the digivice?

Considering you don't know Digi-runes, roll me some luck, one d20.
>>
>>27960382
...Don't suppose we can use one of the stored nat 20s?
>>
Rolled 3

>>27960382
>>
>>27960382
Couldn't we ask Kokuwamon what the runes would mean?
>>
Rolled 10

>>27960417
well fuck, might as well roll then
>>
Rolled 6

>>27960382
Dicing then.

well, now that someone's rolled....

>>27960417

....So, ask what Kokuwamon thinks of your digivice?
>>
>>27960473
As the guy who suggested that... yes please.
>>
>>27960473
You asked for it, I'm going to give it.

Teach the raichu cut, then we can get out of this mess with ease
>>
>>27960853
Your idea appeals to me on a personal level.
>>
Good luck with the rest of the posts for tonight, Gale - I'm personally heading off to sleep.
Here's to hoping there'll be a thread tomorrow!
>>
>>27960473
...You think back to the day before you arrived here- how much time had even passed? It couldn't be more than a day, could it?- and how Wayne Rogers was able to communicate with his partner, using....

The Digivice.

He could talk to his Digimon with his Digivice.

Fishing yours out of your pocket, you open the black/blue device and let your eyes adjust to the sudden glow that came from its screen. It actually reaches up into the cavern, lighting most of your field of vision in the process. That's helpful.

Turning your attention back to the matter at hand, you try to find the program the other partnered human used, but after browsing through more than a few, you end up only confusing yourself. You can't understand any of these symbols in the menus and lists. They just make no sense to you.

You do, however, manage to find something that resembles a camera, but you can't think about how it could be useful in your current situation.

But then again... you DO have a robotic....bug...digimon with you- maybe he'll know!

You turn to Niklas's partner, the digivice held out.

"Think you can read this stuff?" He looks at you curiously, takes the digivice in one of his claws, and begins to study it. He stares at it... and stares at it... Occasionally, he'll flip through unintelligible apps and pages and menus, but for the most part, he stares at it.

Finally, he turns it back over to you.

"Can't read all of it. Only pieces. Don't know enough." He speaks oddly; like he's not only short of breath, but wants to avoid using pronouns.

Regardless, he can at least read SOME of it, and that's better than nothing. He points out a couple specific symbols to you, and explains in his curt and brief way that they're actually direct translations of some of the English alphabet.

"That...is your letter 'A'....that is 'D'...and that is 'V'." He points to three specific ones, then shrugs. "The rest...unsure."

You weren't expecting that, but in the end, you still don't know enough to actually read it. You DO, however, know enough to guess a few words based on the amounts of characters and the letters you do know.

On this page, for example, are the words:

>_____-d_v___ ________a___

>____a-d_v___ ________a___

>_____-da_a __a_____

and

>_a_____ ____

>What will you do?
>>
>>27961033
...Whoever made this needs to take a course in designing user friendly software.

Err, shit, I don't know...
>_a_____ ____

This seems like it could be "Daniil [something]"?
>>
>>27961033
Wait so is A the triangle looking thing?

Is that picture what we're actually seeing?
>>
>>27961164
>It is, to both.

There's a font for this, and I'd really appreciate it if nobody else tried to find it, because then you'd know what it's saying. And that'd ruin some of the fun.
>>
>>27961117
Can't be Daniil, we already know which symbol d corresponds to.
>>
>>27961213
I won't.

But let's just look around for now.
>>
>>27961213
Then why is there four characters after the letter 'a' in the picture, but only three "_"s?
>>

>>27961275
I turned the insert function on my keyboard off, so I had to replace each character with a _ manually after typing it out. I must have missed one.

On another note, Pastebin updated for Daniil!
>>
>>27961344
And is the underscore symbol between the a and the d characters on the second line a character, hyphen, or space?
>>
>>27961409
a hyphen. The font turns hyphens into underscores while typing, oddly enough.

So it IS A-D_V
>>
>>27961462
Huh.

Well it's something to think about later, right now let's find out where we are.

Maybe ask Kokuwamon to fly up near the surface and see what's up?
>>
>>27961462
>A-D_V
Maybe A-DEV? As in A-Device?
And the other _-DEV corresponds to another Device?
>>
>>27961717
>Maybe ask Kokuwamon to fly up near the surface and see what's up?
Also this.
>>
>>27961724
Yeah, device matches up.

So that means

I__E_-DEVICE C_____ICA

Wait no Figured it out.
>>
>>27961877
The long word at the end of the first two lines is "COMMUNICATION" since it matches what we know the letter "C" "I" and "A" are, plus given that the third and fourth characters are the same, there's not many other things it can be.
>>
>>27961896
So

INTE?-DEVICE COMMUNICATION
E?T?A-DEVICE COMMUNICATION
>>
>>27961932
And I'd say that given the patterns, it's likely to be

Inter-device Communication
Extra-Device Communication
??I??-data Tran??er
>>
>>27961967
And Tran??er is most likely Transfer.

So that means that

Inter-device communication
extra-device communication
s?i??-data Transfer
?artner-?in?
>>
>>27962015
Inter-device communication
extra-device communcation
s?i__-data Transfer
Partner-_in?

where ?=that box shape with the things above and below it, and _=the other thing.
>>
>>27962047
...And you totally think I looked it up online, don't you.
>>
>>27962072
Alright, looking at the whole picture, I'm not sure why I couldn't figure this out before.

inter-device communication
extra-device communication
skill-data transfer
partner-link

Now is Daniil smart enough to figure that out?

I doubt it.
>>
>>27962106
Aaaand I just ruined everything.
>>
You guys would kick Wheel of fortune's ass, wouldn't you.

>>27962106
>>27962247

>INT: 6/10
>WIS: 7/10

Don't count him out. Just because he's big and tough, it doesn't mean he's not an intelligent guy!

Guess I'll go update the pastebin now...

It's not ruining it if you figured it out yourselves! Seriously, You guys are awesome.
>>
>>27962342
Alright.

So I guess inter-device communication is what we're looking for?
>>
>>27962455
Perhaps.

The pastebin has been update. What will you do next?
>>
>>27962635
Still scope out the situation I guess.

Also I think I'm the only one left?
>>
>>27962673
Well, if that's the case, then I can put it on hold for now, and come back to it tomorrow if possible.

If not, then I guess all that remains is to archive it.
>>
>>27962707
So will we get more today?
>>
Bumping in hope that Gale'll continue running the Quest.
>>
Gale should be awake soon.
>>
>>27962106
...I love you.
So ok.
Inter-device communication is what we want.
>>
>>27962342

Something tells me that Anon loves the Code Cracker puzzles in those puzzle magazines you can get....

Inter-device communication would be between two or more devices....

Question Gale; is 'extra-' being used as 'intra-'? I only ask as inter-national flights are between two nations, where as intra-national flights are within one nation...
>>
>>27969688
Would be nice to know.
>>
>>27969688
Hope that Anon will be around for any continuation that happens tonight.
That'd be really nice.
>>
>>27969927
Don't know about him, but I'm >>27961724
I really enjoyed the whole decoding thing.
>>
>>27970008
Nice.
Yeah, it was fun, reading through it - congrats on everyone for managing it.
>>
>>27970008
Hope you'll be here when Gale comes back, then - I've got a feeling we're going to be doing some more decoding.
>>
>>27970008
Yeah I have to really thank you for that.

Without you filling that word in, I wouldn't have been able to put the rest together at all.
>>
>>27970546
Sure.

>>27970568
And I wouldn't have been able to get more than that word done. We got some nice teamwork going on there.
>>
>>27969688
I dunno, it seems like one of them (inter-device) means that it's between two digivices and the other is between a digivice and something else. That's just my thinking though
>>
>>27970909
Might be a way to talk directly to the gods?
>>
>>27970909
>digivice and something else
How about a digivice and your Digimon partner?
>>
>>27971122
That'd be partner-link, I think?

...Yeah, I'm thinking this is what you use to communicate with those towers that the sovereigns used, and such.
Might be other items that you can communicate with as well, but this would be the basics, I bet.
>>
So we've got a pretty good idea of what we should do now, I think - check to see if inter-device communication can work.
Might get to help everyone stay in touch with each other, even when we're so split up.
>>
Huh.
You know, I think Daniil and Niklas now both know more about the digivice than Wayne and Zoe.
That's pretty good, gives something for this group to share with the others.
>>
In the interest of fairness, I think we should have Daniil roll for us to find out how long it took him to decode the digivice functions.

Or just have it be about how long it took the players to find out (around an hour).

Since having him be able to figure it out instantly seems like a stretch.
>>
>>27972310
Guy is pretty smart, though - and so is Niklas.
Either of them could've been able to figure it out.
>>
>>27972310
Maybe not instantly... but keep in mind that it'd go faster in real life to consider the options, than it would when you've got an online discussion going.
>>
...I hope we will have something today.
>>
>>27973189
unfortunately unlikely. I won't have the large amounts of time to dedicate to running today.

I'm sorry guys. In the meantime, feel free to speculate, theorize, and hypothesize if you want.
>>
>>27973904
Aww...
Well thanks for letting us know at least, Gale.

So when's the next thread going to be happening?
>>
>>27973904

Hmmm....

So, what digivolution line would be nice for Kokuwamon?

I am an advocate of the Tank-dramon line...
>>
>>27974076
I'm all for having another holy guy, seeing that we'll probably get two Demon Lords.

Can it even evolve into anything holy?
>>
>>27974202
This should show what evolutions it can have: http://wikimon.net/Kokuwamon
>>
>>27974076
Having a train as a possibility would be incredibly useful.
>>
>>27973904
Ah.
So, next week, then?
>>
>>27974053
>>27974977
Next week, yes. Hopefully.
>>
Well that's that then - see ya all next week.
Those who solved the puzzle, you're awesome, hope you'll be here next week as well.
