Returning to the world of monsters? Good to see you again.

Previously: Our young hero, Cerulean awoke from her surgery, bearing high functioning biology procured from a seal monster colloquially known as "Seel." Roused with her first rite of passage as a ranger done and over with, she greets her hometown friends, Aqua and Marine, whom have received Staryu and Squirtle, respectively.

After a depressing period of training at the Cerulean gym, she had begun to lose her hope and what confidence she had within herself as the days dragged on with everyone trouncing her. Yet 2 months into her training, during one of the dreaded cross-training days, she found her way.
By using her power over the cold to make the environment more suitable for herself, our young Cerulean made headway in scoring one of the better times at the obstacle course, surpassed however by the training monster known as Bruise Lee. The Celadons proved sociable and she found that the girl that had a failed surgery opted to try again. By their word, she succeeded.

The sparring match of the day pitted Cerulean in ability oriented combat against an esper of the Saffron, whom she had beat, or rather effectively tied. Making a new friend with a warm, sleep inducing hug, Cerulean's spirits return to her and she has a much brighter outlook on her training.

Her story now continues.

As the training days progress, Leader Misty begins to touch more upon land-based combat and a Cerulean Ranger's role in a team, even out of water.

"Many of you are fit with Pressure bladders, giving you the capability to expel focused blasts of water. On land, you'll need to ration this out until you refill or focus on your other abilities.
Misa and Risa for example use their horns in close combat, that's what they're good at as well as what they've trained for.
Bryan's trained with the espers to master his psychic abilities, giving him something to fall back on, despite not even having the bladders.
Marine has the toughness of her shell, and Aqua his fundamentals. Cerulean, you have your natural ice abilities.

These will all get you far, however the implants that you've been given are not the sole source of your abilities. Rangers use weaponry and gear as well."

Misty presents in both hands what appears to be a trident with two prongs an enlarged center and bladed tips, your peers gawk at the sight, though the senior cadets just kind of smile.
"This here is a volt bident, my personal favored weapon. When it's stabbed into a target, the volt orb within the haft releases a stunning electric shock. With enough skill it can be used on land as well in water."
Misty draws it back into her grasp and assumes stance with one hand fore and the other to the back. She stabs it forward into the air and a visible arc runs between the two spikes.
"We have other weapons like the envenomed blades and stars used by the Fuschias," She puts the butt of the polearm to the ground," The Iron fans sometimes used by the celadons, and the Pewters.. Well the pewters use their environment kind of like the Saffron."

Aqua raises his hand and Misty points for him to speak," What about the Cinnabars and Vermillions?"
>>
Misty opens her mouth a moment and nods," Ah, good question Aqua. Well, the Vermillions and Cinnabars are a bit more exclusive. I've seen them use wired daggers and swords, but they seem to like throwing their power around.
I mean, their methods are Shock and Awe." Misty giggles a bit at that.
"Here, we tend to use polearms and nets for how they can be used on land and in water."

Well Cerulean, which do you choose?

>Weapon Training:
Polearms(1): (acquired!) You grasp the basics of polearm combat, gaining proficiency with spears and bidents. (+2 to attack rolls in water and at mid-range on land.)

You have a training period to spend your 3 skill points on whatever you wish. The Char sheet has been updated.
Bear in mind that certain attacks will be unlocked at higher ranks of core techniques such as water gun and Icy Wind.

Mid range for your polearm pretty much constitutes ideal water gun range or not actually grappling which at this point Cerulean should never.

What's the cost of upgrading Icy Wind? Because to properly use Ice Shards in a ranged capacity, we'll need Thrown Weapon training.
>>
>>27959125
I don't even really care about the ranged applications right now. Augmenting close-range with snap freezing is amazing all on its own.
>>
>>27959125
Icy wind is 2. Ice shard unlocking is 1.

>>27959079
>At higher levels, could we form larger objects?
larger, colder, and more varied.
>>
>>27959125
2, but we wouldn't be able to train it right now anyway.

training takes time and we just did a training session. we will probably get another training session once we get back from veridion. or maybe Prof would allow us to swap our Polearm with thrown weapons?

until then we can just use one of the many many many other functions for it. like freezeing CQC
>>
>>27959151
Yes, that makes sense. For example, we could shoot Water Gun at an opponents feet and Ice Shard to freeze them in place. Useful.

>>27958859
Alright, voting for Icy Wind and Ice Shards.
>>
>>27959174
So if we garb somebody/a monster could we freeze the place we grab?

would make for some awesome hand to hand combat
>>
>>27959174
Oh, a question. Do we need physical contact to flash freeze water using Ice Shards, or is there a specific range we can freeze water from?
>>
>>27959179
that isn't how ice shard works.

i think ice shard allows us to freeze objects into forms we want when they are in our grasp. the attack is just creating sharp icy shards and throwing them
>>
>>27959175
You can take this time to train. Don't need to focus all your timed on polearms.

>>27959197
With varying success, yes.
and it would.
>>27959204

>>
>>27959216

different application of the principle. Creative efficiency will get you through encounters
>>
>>27959216
The idea still works, as long as we touch the water.
>>
>>27959221
so we split our training between thrown weapons and ploearm. i think icy wind and icy shard win

>>27959240
i meant it would only work if we were touching the other persons feet, which is impractical.
>>
>>27959175
>Freezing CQC, focusing on slowing opponent. Main points of attack to freeze joints.

>>
Ice Shard and Icy Wind.

Yes.
>>
>>27959259
i don't think we have indeffinate range as long as we touch the water. like i dont think we can freeze a whole pool solid as long as we are touching it. i may be wrong though.

he did said "Personal Range" so i'm think arms length would be the farthest limit as long as we touch the water
>>
>>27959266
>so we split our training between thrown weapons and ploearm. i think icy wind and icy shard win
We get Polearms as a freebie, but we would have to pay up for Thrown Weapons.

>i meant it would only work if we were touching the other persons feet, which is impractical.
Not necessarily, if our style of combat on land focuses on rolls and sliding on the ground.
>>
>>27959315
don't think we have to pay for training as we are trained by the gym leader. we only have to pay for learning techniques

>>27959313

>>
Couldn't we cup our hands around our mouth, like people do when they shout, and freeze a Water Gun as we shoot it, making an Icecicle Speargun?

BALLIN'!
>>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBIO-7Bm6lc
We should go for this. Incorporate icy wind to move quicker, slow opponents, ice shard to freeze points we've blasted with water. Bident and ranged ice shards also nice with this. (estimated time of mastery: 15 years)
>>
>>27959280

Just slap ice loads of ice wherever on the opponent, let the sheer mass of the stuff weigh them down and exhaust them.
>>
>>27959367
People were discussing using Ice Shards in melee, not range, since we're not learning Thrown Weapons training right now.
>>
>>27959355
>Icy Wind + Ice Shards
>>
>>27959436
Or freeze the water inside our mouth. Brilliant.
>>
>>27959436
We might hurt ourselves since it wouldn't differentiate the water coming out our mouth and the water still inside. We could end up tearing our mouths into bloody shreds like that.
>>
>>27959435
i was saying that if we are touching water we dont have indefinate freezing on the body of water we are touching. like if we we;reimmersed we would only be able to freeze a ball a few feet in diameter without moving our arms about
>>
>>27959462
More like slap their arm and freeze the muscle solid, making it impossible to move it.
>>
>>27959436
that is actually a really good idea
>>
>>27959489
it would work by touching our hands so (presumably) it would freeze and be shaped as it passes our hands
>>
>>27959490
But that has no real bearing on my earlier suggestion, then, since I was never suggesting to freeze an area larger than the area around a foot.

We iceman now.

This has some serious possibilities
>>
>>27959549
We do have a resistance against ice, so I'd say our skin wouldn't get stuck onto it as we flash freeze it. We might still injure ourselves, though, from the speed of the projectile and we'd need to freeze the water some distance away from our face so that we don't freeze the water in our mouth. And it's that part that may require some training.
>>
>>27959494

I honestly have no idea if freezing an opponent's flesh solid, or layering them in ice, would require more energy
>>
>>27959619
yes, it isn't something we should first try out in the field. we should add it to our list to practice when we get back.
>>
>>27959619
So instead of cupping our hands around our mouth, just hold our hands out as far as we can positioned like we're holding a beachball and shoot water between them.
>>
>>27959645
Yeah, and that may still require training so that we don't injure ourselves.
>>
>>27959638
...i have no clue.

it would probably depend on the method. weather it freezes to the lowering of the temperature of the object, or if it does it by having a nearby object be cold enough to drop its temperature.

by Prof said it will be possible in combat to varying degrees.
>>
>>27959658
Well Training is exactly what we are doing right now so its not really a problem.
>>
>>27959676
Hehe, "varying degrees" can't tell if unintentional good joke or purposeful bad joke.

>>27959689
a training mission is not the same as training
>>
>>27959689
But we aren't training to do this sort of stuff.

We're only taking up Polearms and the two techniques we've voted for, that's all. Training to harness the applications of Ice Shards will come at some other time.
>>
>>27959701
We are not on a mission right this moment, we are in a gym where we train how to fight i.e. the ideal place to train this type of attack.
>>
For the last month of your training you dedicate yourself to mastering the Polearm under Leader Misty's supervision.

To start you have been granted a training spear and run through the drills of land-based combat.
Stepping in with a thrust, switching from overhand and underhand grips as the situation calls for, swinging the backend around after a thrust, using the whole weapon.
You're drilled on using the spear carefully in constricted areas, thrusting only when necessary and supplementing attacks with your natural extensions.

Aqua takes to the training diligently, coming onto par with even the senior cadets in spear play.
Marine? Not so much.
After the first few lessons, she chose to drop practice and check out the pewters, Since then, she's always done weapon practice with them, she seems to have a natural affinity for getting into close combat nowadays. Rarely even do you see her use her water gun, instead favoring her armored knuckles.

On other days, you commit to mastering your cryogenic powers, increasing the lovely bitterness of your icy wind, now able to generate a thin layer of frost upon part of the Cerulean lake.

With that progress, and feeling overjoyed at the sight of your own breath, you begin to experiment a bit more with the prospect.
Your icy wind is good and all, but it just makes things cold. You need more than that, right?

Thinking back to your battle with Alexis, you recall how she managed to throw those rocks at you so effortlessly, your ribs still ache some days from your other bouts during the cross-training days.
A ranged weapon, you ponder. Your Water gun is good and all, though it's not exactly... Harmful. Harmful is the word.

You need something better than that, colder. Firmer.
>>
>>27959729
And we're not spending any time to train on how to shoot Ice Shards. We're learning how to make Ice Shards.

It's the difference between learning how to make a gun and how to use one.
>>
Playing with water, you begin to have some luck with freezing hand-sized amounts into small ice-balls. With further effort, you eventually create small and sharp icicles. Though they get pretty drippy when they leave your touch, you have some luck with throwing them.
Despite them landing everywhere except for the target.

>Result, Critical Failure.

You start considering ways that you could possibly turn this into an effective weapon. No longer being limited to using your icy wind to chill things, you feel like experimenting a bit.

During a free period of gym time, the idea hits you.
If you're already freezing water, then why not try it on your water gun?
It needs to work, it has to, it could be amazing!

Under the light of the sun, you cup your hands together over your mouth and blow with all your might as you snap-freeze the water between your hands.
At least, that's what you had in mind according to theory.
The freeze rides back up into your throat as your look down, your eyes fixed in horror as you pull your hands away.
However it's too late, you feel the expansion of ice lodged in your throat, burning at your insides as you find, with pain that you cannot breath.
You attempt to force more water out of your pressure gland, feeling it move, even budge slightly as water dribbles from your jaws.
Vision begins to get fuzzy, and you hear someone calling your names as you slowly asphyxiate.

You come to later, with Oliver wiping his mouth,"One of these days, I won't be there to do this. You okay?"
You blink, feeling an awful burn running down your throat, you open your mouth and let out a small croak as you touch your lips," ain... et... ain.." You gasp out with pain.
"We'll get you checked out at the Research Bureau Cerulean, just hang in there, okay?" Misty bends down over you and gives you a kiss on the forehead.
______________________________________________________
It turns out that your little experiment messed up your throat quite a bit as you spend a couple days in recovery, resting and letting your throat heal up.

Prof says you'll be fine, your healing factor being a bit more powerful than other recruits.

It'll be a bit before you try that again..

We don't even have a style. We just have the idea of a style. Bruise, however, has been rigorously training on his physical abilities.

Time comes for the Veridian Forest training mission deployment.

This is the first true test for all ranger recruits.

You will be led by a senior recruit that has already passed the woods.
Standing in lineup, the teams are called by Sergeant Azure under a overcast day in the pallet center of Kanto City.

Restless scouts fidget about as they have their own hopes for team pairs, glancing over to their friends from same gyms and acquaintances from others.
The lineup is filled with disappointment here and there as the senior cadets stand awaiting their respective teams.

You notice a startling lack of the Cinnabar gym members for this mission.
It then dawns on you that they may be exempt just the same for their fire abilities. Likely they'd have an alternate exercise to pass them.

"Cerulean!" Your name called interrupts your thoughts, and you snap to attention at salute," Sir!" You gasp out, trying to show some semblance of paying attention.
Other uncalled children snicker about you, causing you to blush. Were you supposed to be doing something?

"I said to fall in with Janine's group, recruit!"

"Sir!" You repeat and run forward, blushing as you look at the seemingly expectant Senior cadets, even Oliver and the coldeen sisters stand among them.

Before anyone yells at you again, a girl with bright purple hair and piercing eyes complemented by an insect-like auxiliary pair inclines her head to you. Her outfit much like a female ninja of the Fuschias as you have seen, it dawns upon you, as you beat yourself up on the inside that you're with a fuschia squad leader.

Falling in behind her, you keep blushing furiously and putting your head down to try to hide it.

Janine doesn't seem to take a second look at you.

Who else is called to fall in with you and your poison leader?

"Goldenrod!" Is the next name called for Janine's team, the Senior Recruit doesn't budge or flinch an inch as the yellow furred Esper steps forward from the line, looking up to meet the gaze of Janine for a moment.
"Nice to be on your squad..." He trails off as he falls in behind you, looking quite a bit more depressed than usual.

You look back to him," Hey Grumpy, you okay?"
The Esper's lip quivers into a foul sneer accented by the yellow tufts of fur at his cheeks," No one asked you to ta-"

"Be silent." A harsh word from the Fuschia member before you chides back. It surprises you and puts a painful chill of guilty conscience in your heart as you snap forward.
Nothing else is uttered from Grumpy either.

"Bruise Lee!" The call ushers a groan from Goldenrod as the Pewter steps forward to your team. A smile splatters itself across your face, glad that you ended up on the same team with him.

Stopping before Janine, Bruise places his fists together, and bows respectfully," I am pleased to fight with you." He says with a short word.

Your mission is made clear at the debriefing. The teams are to enter the woods with three Duck-like monsters released within.

Your three teams are to retrieve either the stick that it wields, or the duck itself. Merit will be given based upon how well it is done.
>With the unique stick it bears, the lowest honors, just passing.
>Dead, yet retrieved, higher honors.
>Alive for possible harvesting, the highest. If done, you will have your choice of additional grafts in the future.

The Strongest ranger, Giovanni himself steps forward, taking the floor. Three rangers in black outfits with R armbands standing at attention at either of his sides.
>>
You get a good look at him, and them. The rangers to the right, in order:
A man bearing a gasmask with a cream colored mane of hair running down his back like a mowhawk.
A Woman with a venomous stair and a folded hood upon her neck, enchanting markings peeking out from the fold.
A Younger Ranger with whiskers near his nose, and slanted cat-like eyes, a red gem upon his head peeking out from his beret.

On the other side, the people there to the left:
A female ranger with a blindfold on, a bluish tint to his skin, and fangs peeking out from his closed mouth.
Another with a burning mane of almost ephemeral flames that run over his clothes without catching flame, a horn poking through his forehead that dwarfs your own.
and the last one bears severely armored skin and a short ridge upon his head.

In the middle Giovanni stands in nothing but a suit, with a tastefl beret and a flower upon his coat-pocket.
With a soothing, yet almost bored voice, "Good of you all to visit the prestigious Veridian quarter, as you know, this is the only quarter that sees monsters within our very own dome. It is for this reason that you come here today for practical training. Your three months of training, should have you well prepared for this." He pauses, and looks over the assembly of seven teams standing before him.

"It is with my condolences that I must tell you that some of you may die from this excursion. We have many dozens of poisonous pokemon stocked within the woods, and others just as dangerous. You will be working as a team to catch me dinner due within three days, a Duck known as Farfetch'd that bears a curious and tasty leek. Three will be released, and you will be competing with or against each other to capture the creatures, alive, or otherwise retrieve their leeks.
You will be issued a flare gun in case an emergency arises, and an Esper should be at your side in an instant in response.

Bruise Lee seems to be at the top of his gym, but who knows with Goldenrod. He seemed to be too reliant on his psychic powers, going by what happened during our cross gym training exercises last thread, and judging by his sullen demeanor, he might not be doing all that well.

GoldenRod: son of a leader, has a very rare implant and can teleport

I wish all of you good luck, and Arceuspeed. You will all need it."
As Giovanni falls out, returning to his grand gym, the Rocket team members fall out and follow after, all of them stoic and dignified in their own way, yet as they do so, the one feline stops, taking the stage for himself.

With a similar presence upon the stage, and an excitable and loud feminine voice,"Oh, and Lord Giovanni had wanted me to mention something!" It's a.. girl?
"The first team to make it back with the duck-thing alive will be treated to a roast with master Giovanni himself! So, well.." She fumbles tracing her fingers together," Do your very best kids!" The Young woman gives the recruits a wink and damn near skips away and back to her "master."

With Giovanni's presence gone, you feel a certain sense of relief despite the fact that he hadn't said anything inherently threatening, though the way that the Rockets stand with him.. That's what's most unnerving. They certainly appeared heavily modified, though mostly just one species.. Strange.

Janine looks back to her assembled team, looking over each one of you with her analytical stare, the secondary insect eyes seeming to take in far more than her human ones.
"Janine, granddaughter to Koga. I am confirmed to be a Poison/Bug Hybrid, a Venonat species. I sweat poison," She begins to pace back and forth as the sergeant would to the assembly of scouts," I am skilled and trained in hand to hand combat, toxicology, that is the study of poisons, venoms, and their antidotes. We should have little to worry about from the poisonous creatures that we encounter here.
So tell me, what are each of you capable of, in your own words? I shall have the Cerulean go first, with her own words." She gestures to you, her gaze locking,"Speak."

You bring your hand up in a salute at attention, "Ma'am, I am Cerulean, of the Cerulean Gym. Water type, though capable of using Ice. Seel species.
You take a breath,"I am skilled in aquatic and amphibious combat. I am trained in the use of polearms. I can generate freezing winds, flash freeze water at close range, generate mist, and fire pressurized shots of water." You swallow under her harsh glare, slight sweat beading upon your brow from her scrutiny," I am limited to five shots of water before I must refill... That is all, Ma'am!"

Janine brings the knuckle of her index finger up to her lips as she seems to consider something,"Good Cerulean. Next, Goldenrod."

Goldenrod looks her in the eye for a moment averting her partially insect gaze before saluting, and avoiding eye contact,"Ma'am, I am Goldenrod of the Saffron. I am an insignificant worm that can do nothing special.
I am gifted in the art of teleportation, and little else. I will be required to meditate for most of this mission otherwise I will be unable to do even that.
I am sorry that I am not what you were expecting." Near the end of his little speech, you can see Grumpy's lip begin to quiver from the corner of your eye, though he manages to hold it down.

Janine seems unphased by his words," So long as the mission is a success, you will be a success. Your ability could be quite useful should we run into danger."
Goldenrod looks up, his mouth hanging open with a slight blush, he nods," Yes Ma'am. With that, she moves on.
"Bruise lee, you're last, tell me what I can expect from you."

No, I think we're still talking about different things. Creating mist just dissipiates the effect into the area. I'm just saying we concentrate on the enemy's face.

You consider filing in for the 3P gear, you decide to run this by Janine. As she looks over your requisition form," Good loadout Cerulean, Seems that you're really invested in catching this thing alive. I had to kill it." She smirks, looking up from the sheet.
"Oh right, I should tell you all, this mission makes it so that an honored victory of both live-capture and the leek will rob another squad of their victory. I will only be leading you, It will be down to a vote whether we allow another to bring back the leek, we will discuss it then."

Bruise nods, and Goldenrod says nothing, looking over his sheet.

Janine turns to you, looking her eyes upon you,"If you want to get the 3P gear, go ahead. Though I should warn you, the fans can be pretty loud. It won't necessarily matter if you escape quickly enough, though our best method is to remain silent and under monster radar with our repel gear on. Be sure to douse yourself in neutralizing perfumes to hide your scent as well. It's dangerous out there."
The violet haired girl hands you your sheet back and immediately rises to turn hers in.

Basically, we can fulfill any role. We're utilitarians. We're not purely ranged. We're not purely melee. We can switch to whatever is needed.

And to concentrate it....I just said it, instead of dispersing the water, just shoot it at their face first. Most of the water will splash away into the surrounding area, but since it's spittle, quite a bit will stick to the face, which we can then freeze.

The three of you stand at one of the gates that lead to the large, wild enclosure that is the Veridian wood.
A double paned and reinforced barrier of glass covers the area, much like a second dome.
An electrical grid running between the sheets, likely to act as a deterrent for whatever may try to escape.
It's at least high enough for some of the creatures to fly, and you see them.

Majestic birds soaring over the thick greenhouse wood, seeming to seek out prey, their glorious plumage fluttering upon their head.
From this distance, you feel the scrutiny of its glare even beyond the dual panes of glass. Its a little unnerving.

Janine presses on as you, Bruise, and Goldenrod follow in suit. A Veridian guard bearing Similar eyes to Janine looks over your access, and he pulls out four flare guns, one for each of you as you dutifully take it and put it in your own emergency bag.
"Stay safe Recruits, the Espers will be on standby." His gaze lingers upon Goldenrod a moment, and he smirks, bending a scar running across his lips. He doesn't comment on it, though Goldenrod's mood seems to grow a bit more foul instantly.
"Carry on then."

As you enter through the gates, they lock behind you, the shut of their manually turned mechanisms increasing the pace of your heartbeat even as you feel the air within this second dome to be stifling, humid, and uncomfortable.

You adjust the weight of your polearm, in your grasp, holding the bident before you defensively and swallowing hard, your hands shaking as you hear the sounds and calls of the monsters within this place seemingly coming from everywhere.
"At ease, Cerulean." She holds a hand up, ushering you to relax," They'll smell your fear at this rate."

A small twinge of terror runs through your body,"T-they can?"

"Some, yes, maybe. It's time to turn on our repel gear, lowest setting. It'll keep most of the little things from noticing us unless we decide to scream at them or bump into one.
I've been told that it makes them blind to us, though it doesn't always make them deaf or lack their nose."

You look at the gauge situated next to your arm-mounted index, and flick the switch on for the repel gear, a slight hum, and then silence. As your teammates do so, you have trouble seeing them for a moment until you put them back into focus.
"Next thing, the index. We have information on just about everything here."
She touches a button and the device slides open," Before engaging, you first take a picture of the threat. If you can.
After it is dead or captured, you activate the recorder to take notes on it for future reference and for the database, understood?"
>>
In unison, you all salute with a "Yes Ma'am!"
Janine nods, firmly," No need to be so formal, all rangers are equal on the field, though when I give an order or advice, I expect you all to listen."
"Yes Ma'am, if I may, what is our plan of attack for this mission?"

Janine nods looking out to the forest and taking a deep breath of the heavy air," Well first, we need to find the target. There are three, and rather elusive. They're bound to leave marks, and attack monsters that want to eat them. We'll begin by searching the trails fro brown feathers or marks in trees and slashed monsters. Watch your step around bushes and be careful around trees and brown things attached to them. Use your short range communications to keep in contact, and contact each other if you get lost."

Janine looks around the tall trees of the wood, seeming to nod and listen to the nearly pleasant sounds and the chirps," Nothing's startled them yet. We'll split up if it stays like this. Our first action should be to find a source of water for ourselves and the target." With a pause, she looks you over," Would you be able to divine that?"

With a soured frown, you shake your head," No, No good at finding water. Really heavy in here though." You pant, the heat slowly getting to you.
"I could scout for water from the trees. with my ability." Goldenrod mumbles, looking up at Janine, meeting her eyes. "I'd be able to see a lot from up there."
Janine gives him a nod," Then do so, I can already see that Cerulean will need water."

Goldenrod looks at you, and then averts his eyes down,"I'll try hard." In the next moment, he vanishes appearing within sight near the top of one of the trees before a second teleport.

He might just be alright.

Janine looks up as he vanishes and turns her attention to the two of you, keep your eyes out for threats. While we're still at the entrance, we may still encounter some monsters. Here, you're going to want to watch out for small horned creatures, they sprout toxic barbs when threatened. Most of the others aren't a big deal if we avoid them."

Bruise seems considerate as he looks at his own index, carefully pressing inputs despite his cestus, nodding,"Nidoran, they're known as the Poison Pin monsters. I can see why we'd want o watch out. If I didn't have the cestus, I might not even be able to touch them.

>Entry: A small creature, more aggressive than its counterpart and just as toxic. Caution is to be taken should there be signs of encroaching upon one. It will charge and aim to stab with its toxic horn if threatened.
>It also bears toxic quills that it extends when angered.
>Excellent for making toxic rangers.

"It's on the floor, right? If we get near-"
"If we get near, the repel gear should help us escape detection. And we have two mid ranged fighters suited for dealing with them. We'll be fine."

Janine turns to look at a spot, just as Goldenrod ports back, he recoils with a small amount of terror, falling back onto the ground," Woah, woah, woah... That was weird."
>>
"Report,"
Goldenrod stands up abruptly and salutes, getting an "At ease" from Janine.
He starts," I sensed a lot of monsters to the west of here, West South-west To be more specific. We should find water there."

Janine gives Goldenrod a pat on the head, making him smile a little," Good work, we move out by his direction!"

>"I'll try hard."
Oh boy.

Well, he seems to be warming up to us. Next thread, we can work on connecting him with Bruise.

See you next time, Prof.

THE HUNT! HOW IT REMINDS ME OF THE HUNT!

>>27964247
He saw a lot of monsters. I suspect that this is the first time many of the cadets will have ever encountered a monster.
>>
>Current skill points: 3
Is that accurate?
>>
>>27964247

Janine looked at where he would be, before he was there, seeing her staring dead at him.

After seeing the garden-grade yet deadly monsters of course.

While they are on par with animals, they do bear a certain degree of sentience.

No, needs to be updated. All spent.
>>
>>27964264
probably not

Friggin' bug types.

Hey Prof, is it possible to use Ice Shard to create cataracts? Since we don't have the training to accurately throw them at our targets, we can at least leave them on the ground as traps.
>>
>>27964311
>cataracts
Nigga wut
>>
>>27964311

Caltrops? A potential hazard They'll also melt before they do anything useful, especially in this greenhouse effect.
>>
>>27964347
what about creating blades of ice on our hands/knuckles?
>>
>>27964330
I meant caltrops, heh.
>>27964347
Ah, the environment is working against us.

But how long would they last? Could we create them quickly enough and throw them down in front of a creature that's rushing us/one of the others?

Also, what do you mean by potential hazard?
>>
>>27964347
You need to get working on that pokedex

Would this map be considered accurate, as far as the locations of these regions?

Not that the resources currently exist that could take us to Hoenn or Sinnoh.
>>
>>27964519
i wonder if they'll ever do the whole thing. either in pieces or just kinda stick them all together and create one very very larger game. and raise the level cap. and add a ton of new shit
>>
>>27964708
I hope they end up doing that eventually. Also raise the max number of moves a pokemon can know.
>>
>>27964737
It is gonna be a long long time before they change the base format for pokemon games.

next you're gonna ask for real time battles or for trainers to be participating or for the main char to be older than 10
>>
>>27964778
Woah, man, slow down. That's a bit too revolutionary for me.

...damn man....older than 10....what are you thinking...
>>
>>27964810
The eternal 10 year old is a tradition.
>>
>>27964778
Or a new type to be introduced...
Oh wait-
