The system:
http://pastebin.com/e3q4q0MP

Basic rules still apply (Grey Box): Roll d20: Highest dice roll out of the first three rolls is used for the Dice Check (DC), while all three rolls are averaged to determine other internal factors, if applicable. Natural 20’s and Critical Failures (1) supersede all other rolls made.

Roll d100: d100’s are used for different factors, the most applicable of which will be listed at the call for the roll. High is always better.

Rolling for Time: When asked to roll for time, the first roll response will be used, with additional rolls used as necessary. This is the only time low rolls are desired.

NewType powers, since they are plot breaking, will be based on a point system.
For every natural 20 you roll, you'll get .5 NTP. If you roll an 11 on a d20, it will be worth .25 of a NTP. Double rolls on a D100 will also garner .25 NTP.

You can exchange 1 NTP for an automatic critical success / plot breaking idea. You can also exchange 1 NTP to reduce an opposing main character's plot armor by 1/4 or 1/2 on any actions you take against them - the amount reduced will be situational, and depend on what you're planning on doing.

The shrill wail of the alarm klaxon startled Bright awake as the 'Nero II' shifted suddenly, leaving him pressed against the bed's restraints as he listened to the announcement. "Red alert! Red alert! We are under fire, all hands to battle stations! Repeat, taking enemy fire - all hands to battle stations!"

Bright pulled an arm free and unfastened the belts keeping him in place, tumbling into his suite as the ship changed direction again. It was an adventurous few minutes as he struggled into his Feddie uniform and the bulky armored suit, while the walls of his room constantly shifted around him. Once fully dressed, the magnets in the soles of his shoes kept him properly oriented - and at the mercy of the ship's gyrations, he found abruptly as he slammed into the side of his doorframe. He kicked off the floor again, fumbled for the handle of a lift rail and depressed the emergency button. The mechanism whined as it pulled him at speed to the bridge.

Entering the bridge, Bright turned to the captain's chair to ask after the current situation. He stopped short upon seeing the haggard, yet stoic visage of his XO through the visor.

"Christ, 'Brutus'," Bright said after a moment, "You look like I felt a few days ago."

Yellow Mega-Particle fire illuminated both the bridge interior and Mohai's wan smile under his own visor as the errant energy bolt skipped past the prow and into the atmosphere, carrying a few hundred pounds of freshly atomized steel. "Glad to hear it, 'Lieutenant Mass'," Mohai said in a tone akin to two boulders being ground together. "Means my efforts are paying off. We're under fire, again, if you hadn't noticed."

Bright nodded. "That makes this the third attack in as many days. They're not too keen on letting us go quietly, are they, sir?"

"Seems they aren't at that," Mohai said, bracing against his chair restraints as the ship made another evasive maneuver. Bright held on to a nearby support beam to stay steady as Mohai continued. "Damned unnerving, what with this extreme range fire coming from beyond our own sensor range."

Another bolt fell into the atmosphere below them, ripping through the area the Nero II had occupied a moment before. "M-particles?" Bright asked.

"Full dispersal," Mohai replied, "Probably have us on visual scopes, though the diffraction should help skew their aim somewhat."

Bright frowned as the Nero shifted again, pulling him to the other side. "Should we return fire?"

Mohai shook his head without hesitation. "Without a good bearing, and with nothing on visual, that power is best served keeping us mobile."

"As you say, sir," Bright said, nodding in approval. "Although, if the Zeeks are that far out, should we try a course correction?"

Mohai raised an eyebrow before directing his attention to the helmsman. "Helm, ETA on pull out?"

"Half hour, sir, for optimal route to Luna II, another hour for Side Seven," the helmsman said in reply as he forced the ship to maneuver sharply once more. The ship's wheel remained in a death grip as he continued, "If we didn't have a hole in our torpedo bay, we'd be there already."

"I am painfully aware of that, Corporal," Mohai said as he glanced up at Bright.

Before he could say anything, Bright found himself thrown forward as the ship's rear skewed from a glancing blow. In an effort to avoid dashing his brains out on the forward observation window, Bright held fast to the I-beam, ignoring the pain it caused. Mohai snarled out a curse as the helmsman brought the ship back to bearing, following it with a shout directed to the sensor techs, "Damage report!"
>>
Yay. It is alive. And I am here. Infiltration, ho!
>>
>>27969848

"Coming in now, sir - Nacelle two, armor at forty eight percent and holding!"

The thick Irish baroque of Lannie Kissick came over the comm, accompanied by the shrill cries of damage alarms. "I dunea know what they're on about, but this engine canea take much more o’this, Cap'n!"

"Understood," Mohai replied.

"Mister Scott, are you giving her all she's got?" Bright asked.

The internal comms relayed nothing but the repeating tone of the alarms for a long while before Lannie finally said, "There's after a joke bein’ on me ifin I ever knew one. Aye, sir, I am. Dinea count for much when the roof’s comin’ down on our heads.”

“Copy that, engineering,” Bright said. “Try to hold on for a few more hours.” A muttering of unintelligible baroque was his only reply before the comm. flipped off. Bright took the opportunity to grab a seat while the ship was mostly stable, and busily strapped himself in.

“So,” Mohai intoned. “Do we cut early, or stay the course?”

“We stick to the plan, they’re only 'trying' to kill us,” Bright said.

The next hour was tense, as more armor boiled off from particle beam fire, molten slag spilling into the thin atmosphere surrounding the ship as they continued onward. Finally, the Nero's exit coordinates resolved, and the helmsman pulled the weathered ship out and away from the beautiful blue and green sphere below them.

The yellow particle beams continued to rain down upon them, the Musai cruiser having mirrored their flight path. They answered with a storm of missile fire and pink particle beams as the Nero's instruments finally caught the Siegfried's position, the void between the two ships filled with exchanged particle cannon fire and missile detonations.

Somewhere between Lieutenant Kissick's complaints over the engine, the sensor techs calling proximity warnings, and the constant wail of damage alarms, the Nero managed to close within communications distance of Side Seven. Bright noticed this only as a general message repeated over the comms, having been received and automatically broadcast by the Nero's computer.

"Message repeats: attention, your ship has entered Side Seven space. Cease firing and stand down or your ships will be declared hazardous to the colony and summarily destroyed. You have ten minutes to comply. Message repeats: attention, your ship has..."

Mohai stood after releasing his restraints, one hand outstretched. "Weapons! Cease fire! Comms, are we receiving any other communications?"

"Wait one," The comms tech replied. "Yes, sir, we have a repeating series of digits on laser comm."

Mohai and Bright stood and crossed to the comm console as the Nero's guns fell silent. So too did the Siegfried's, the Zeon Musai's speed reducing as it fell away slowly, knowing it would not be able to dock with the colony.

"Let's see here," Mohai said as the numbers crossed over the screen. 237568-236676.

Bright brought up the EFEMIRAL Orders for the Midnight Insertion op, and scrolled down to the area that contained the challenge - counter challenge codes. He then copied one set of numbers and fired it back to the colony: 135802-332908-9.

A moment passed before the comm suite came alive, the displayed image of a portly man with black hair and a pronounced widow's peak warped by the Minovsky particle dispersion rate. "Captain Quinley, officer on duty. You have permission to dock, main hangar, area four. You care to explain why you dragged a pissed off Musai from god knows where to a civilian colony?"

"Major Brutus Sharp, Captain of the 'Nero'. We were initially heading towards Luna II," Mohai ground out as the Nero slipped inside the open hangar doors. "But we've taken a severe beating, and our secondary fallback point is you."

"Us? Why would a civilian colony be the fall back point for a Special Ops ship?" Captain Quinley asked nervously.

MEANWHILE, ON THE SIEGFRIED
---------------

Kyne Manning pulled the Siegfried up to pair with the fuel tender orbiting the colony with the farming block. As the docking tubes connected, the comm suite came alive with the angry visage of a female EFSF Lieutenant. "Zeon ship, you do not have permission to dock with us, unpair your docking tubes and withdraw at once!"

Martha Vist-Carbine returned the woman's glare pound for pound. "I've as much right to be here as you louts have stealing our prototype Mobile Suits," she snapped back. "I'm not about to leave until you get that Salamis back out here with my MS."

"Spare me the lies, Lieutenant," Martha said, cutting the woman off. "And consider your colony under interdiction until such time as our prototype is returned, or you manage to muster enough force to drive us off. Siegfried, out," Martha made a chopping motion at neck level, and the comm connection was terminated.

"Not bad, Captain," Manning remarked from the helm.

Martha nodded before she issued orders. "Begin Minovsky particle dispersion, maximum output. Star hunters! Ready for lose patrol - I don't want any torpedo laden vehicles turning this tender into a pyre."

"Copy that," Chance said over the comm. "Ezra, Wyatt, to the Zaku's. Aron, stand by in a Zudah, but stay in reserve."

A chorus of affirmatives rang over the comm as the pilots made ready to launch.

"If you don't know, then you're not cleared for it," Mohai said in a voice that brokered no argument.

The EFF Captain ran his hand over is face before replying, "Fine. I know when something's beyond my pay grade. Get your ship into the docking cradle while I wake the base commander, and he'll take care of it from here. I must ask that your and your men stay on your ship for the time being." Mohai nodded in acceptance, and the man continued, "Do any of your crew require medical attention?"

"We have three cases of burns from engineering and a few shrapnel wounds reported, but most hands are fine - not counting our strike craft losses," Mohai read from the report handed to him by a tech. "We would appreciate medical assistance."

Quinly nodded. "We'll see it gets there as soon as the bay pressurizes. I have the base commander on the line. Transferring now."

The screen switched to a black man with deep worry lines who appeared to have just been woken up and shrugged into his uniform. "Anderson. What's this about?"

>{X} Operation Chimera

"Operation Chimera, sir," Mohai said.

Anderson's eyebrows raised in surprise. "Shit, son, I'll be right down. I'm surprised your 'fishing trip' caught anything, really."

The screen went dark, leaving Mohai a bit out of sorts. He confirmed with the comm technitian that the suite was off before turning to Bright, and asking, "Any of this seem a bit odd to you?"

Bright shrugged, and removed his hardsuit's helmet for a breath of fresh air. There was a tinge of ozone and burnt fabric in the background, but he paid it no mind. He then shrugged back to Mohai. "Maybe their security here is really lax. But hey," he said, clapping a gloved hand on Mohai's armored shoulder. "The fact they haven't started shooting at us yet means you're doing a great job."

Mohai frowned as he flipped his visor up. "Why am I less than happy to hear you say that?"

Bright shrugged as he returned to his seat. "All we can do now is wait, really. Try to relax, and act like you belong here, 'Captain Sharp'."

The other man turned towards the observation window and watched the external oxygen display spool up. After a few minutes had passed, the far doors of the hangar opened, admitting a small team of paramedics in red and white uniforms and two men in EFF Tan.

The group approached the damaged light cruiser, several of the EMT's turning to eye the large silhouette under the grey tarp lashed to the port side of the Nero II. The two men in tan seemed particularly interested.

Bright and Mohai left for the Nero's main boarding area to greet their guests, meeting with Jane on the way. "Going smoothly?" she asked.

Mohai nodded, "Almost two smoothly. What kept you?"
>>
>>27971917

Jane ducked her head in embarrassment. "I got tangled up in my bed's restraints. By the time our evasive maneuvers ended, I felt my time might be better spent printing this for you."

Mohai accepted the print out, finding it to be the EFEMIRAL Operation Chimera orders, and nodded. The boson's whistle rang out, and all hands present saluted as Anderson, now fully dressed in his rear admiral's uniform, entered through the hatch with Captain Quinly at his side. Several of the commandos turned crewmembers, met up with the EMT's and began to guide them to the wounded as Anderson spoke. "That's no Zaku you have there, Captain."

Mohai finished his salute and then accepted the man's firm handshake before replying, "Markings on the side make it out to be a Zudah, sir."

"A Zudah? Really? Now, there's a rare prize. Those your orders?"

"Yes sir," Mohai said, handing the print out over.

>It wasn't a Critfail. It was an Oni-Chan.

As Anderson began to leaf through the document, one of the female EMT's caught sight of Bright and gasped in surprise. Her kit bag nailed Lannie Kissick in the head as she let go of it, managing to say "Oni-Chan?"

"Oi, you daft bint, I'd half a mind to knock you in the gob I do," Lannie snarled, catching both Jane and the girl's attention as he tossed the heavy bag back to her.

"Sorry, I just-"

"Not now," Anderson said without looking up from his document. "The Adults are working. Go save a life, do something useful with yourself."

Abashed, the young blonde woman allowed herself be led away, turning furtive glances towards Bright.

'Oh god,' Bright thought to himself as Jane glanced his way. 'I am so going to die.'

"You alright?" she whispered.

"I'll manage," Bright whispered back. "I think."

Jane hummed an acknowledgement as Anderson looked back up from the paperwork.

"Everything seems to be in order, here. I'd like to confirm these, but that Musai you pissed off is currently sitting on our communications dish with enough M-Particles to balance out Chernobyl," He stopped for a moment, muttered 'Now there's a thought,' before continuing, "So, for the time being I'm going to let you have free run of the colony while our boys unload your prize and get it worked on. Ceff poked his head around the bulkhead, raised an eyebrow at Bright, and then asked the Admiral, "Do you need any help taking that MS apart?"

"What? Who said that? Get out here where I can see you," Anderson barked. Ceff stepped closer, straightening his grey jumpsuit as Anderson eyed him. "And who the hell are you supposed to be?"

"Luke Kraft, engineer, was roped in to help identify Zaku variants," Ceff said.

Anderson chewed on his lip for a moment before deciding, "Fine. If you're so dead set on going back to work after being shot at, I'll not stop you. But make yourself a nuisance and you'll find yourself right back here. Understood?"

Ceff nodded. "As you say, Admiral."

"Go with our techs when they come to gather the Zudah, then," Anderson said, dismissing the man before turning to Mohai, "Yes, Captain Sharp?"

>>27972835

"Which way to Logistics?" Mohai asked, "And do you know any good places to get a drink? I have some good men I'd like to send off."

"We don't have much in the way of an officer's club, sadly - But I do know of a place down on Blade 2, called 'The Hungry Serpent', kind of a retro place. I'll have the directions sent to your eTablet. You do have an eTab, right? No matter," Anderson continued without getting Mohai's response. "If you don't, logistics will issue you one."

"Excuse me, Cap'n," Coralie said from the doorway. Mohai turned and motioned for her to speak. "It's about the ballast in the torpedo bay, ser. I've just gone ta check, and we've lost most of it. Stores are down to twenty percent, and the crawlers have made a right mess of thing-"
>>
>>27973347

"'Crawlers'?" Anderson asked.

"Aye, Admiral. When we launched from Jaburo, we couldnea take torpedoes, needin to replace their mass with food and water and the like, due to the nature of the mission, an so we were loaded down with what'ere they could find for ballast after loadin' us up, ser."

"And that included 'Crawlers'?" Anderson asked.

"Aye, ser. Treaded excavators and load lifters. Heavy, but not explosive. And a good thing it was too, when you're after considering the damage done to our prow, ser. So, as I was asking earlier, they've gone and made a right mess o'things. Where can I put them?"

"When the crews come in and move the Zudah, ask them to help out. Just, try and keep your gear inside the partition lines. You got it?" Anderson asked.

"Aye Admiral. Thank you, ser."

"Don't mention it," the man said, looking sour. "Anything else?"
>>
>>27973356
Nah, that should be it.
And no asking for a guide since we're mostly supposed to stay on our ship and we'd have to ditch them when we make our move.

With the directions to logistics received from Captain Quinley, Mohai and Jane disembarked with Admiral Anderson to sort out the minutia of a ship come to port; payroll, lodgings, new ID cards, and other concerns.

As the XO, Bright was in charge of the ship while Mohai was away. As such, Bright:

What do those wierd bar things under the pilot photos in the roster mean? At first I thought they were rank insignia, but then it turned out to have nothing to do with rank?

Also I don't know what those gold squares do, either.

The bars denote which machine (One white bar for Zaku I, 2 for Zaku II, Polygonal for Zudah) the pilot can pilot.

The Gold SIM chips do nothing for the system. They're there because real American military ID's have them.

>Went Back to The Bridge, Made Certain Everything Was Normal

we may have dodged the fire, but we are still in the frying pan...

Also; due to damage in the extraction of the enemy MS, we still need to get our pilot 'Out' of the suit.... it seems that they fell asleep in there....
>>
>>27974008
No, I mean the black bars and purple circles underneath their potraits/traits.
(White bars?)
>>
>>27974083

Yeah. The black bars with purple dots on them ARE the indicators of which Suits the pilots are trained/experienced in the use of...
>>
>>27974123
Okay, when you said white bars, it really threw me off.

TY for the legend.
I really want to put Chance in some extra hours in the 'sims, he's excellent officer material, and his traits would do him well as a strategist, as well.
>>
>>27974210

How many 'Basic Traits' are there, aproximately?

Assuming that varients use the same training as basic models...
there would be <>; Zaku, Zaku II, Zudah, Gouf, Dom, Gyan, Gelgoog, Acguy, Z'Gok, Zock, Kampfer... not to mention the various Mobile Armors which each had different control layouts...

Though the Marine MS's would only matter if we were directly involved in any marine operations..... which is more likely due to both the prescence of the EFF's Wet Navy, and the fact that Space Veterans would be better at fighting underwater due to retaining three dimensions of manoeuvrability compared to ground units which only have the two...

>Not dead, just nursing a headache.

>[X] Went Back to The Bridge, Made Certain Everything Was Normal.

Upon entering the Nero's bridge, Bright asked for a status report.

"Engineering reports the main drive is running hot, but appears stable. 'Mister Scott' requests permission to bring the drive offline to perform maintenance."

"Estimated time for the maintenance?" Bright asked.

"Probably a day or two, minimum, sir," Lannie said over the comm. after the question was relayed to him. "We brought 'er back from the dead, and all, then pushed 'er to the nines. I feel its better safe than sorry, though, and waived away refueling until this is buttoned down."

Bright considered it.

"Get 'er done, Mister Scott," Bright said.

"Aye, sir, powering down Minovsky-Ionesco drive now, sir," Lannie said, accompanied by the hiss and rattle of rapidly cooling pipes, followed by a bang and a clatter of metal hitting the deck and Lannie's Irish baroque cussing up a storm. "Amend that," he finally said in something Bright could understand. "The north side heat exchanger just blew off."

Bright sighed. "Of course. And how much time will that add to the repairs?"

"I didnea know, exactly, sir. I don't think it's part o' the engine they worked over. Best case scenario, the bolts sheared off due to the heat, and can but re-tapped and replaced. Might be a few more hours o' work. Worst case is beyond me, sir, and we'll have to call in some of the Side Seven boys to work it over."

"Copy that, Mister Scott. I doubt getting parts will be easy, considering the incomplete nature of this colony," Bright said.

"Ach, there out to be a machine shop somewhere we can borrow, sir, if needs be," Lannie replied.

"Sir, incoming communication from Captain Sharp," the comm tech said.

"Put him on," Bright said, moving over to the communications console. "Lieutenant Mass, Nero. Everything all right, sir?"

"In a word: no," Mohai replied. "Just saw Logistics. Room isn't a problem - they apparently pushed back the civilians on blade one in a six mile radius past the cargo lift. Any house that isn't occupied by civvies is open to us. However, most of the civilian businesses refuse to take EFF scrip, and the regular cargo vessels use a coupon system for even distribution of goods."
>>
>>27987069

"So, we're cut off from civilian trade, then?" Bright asked.

"For the most part. A few of the establishments, such as bars and night clubs, will take scrip at inflated prices. So we'll need to inform the troops to not expect much out of their pay," Mohai said.

"Copy that, sir. I'll relay the disappointing news. Anything else?" Bright asked.

"Negative. Janet will be stuck down here for a while, getting new ID's for everyone," Mohai said, referring to Jane, "I'm going to scout that 'Hungry Serpent' place, see just how inflated the prices are."

Yes, we shouldn't let our guard down in the middle of enemy territory with a super MS in their hands.

We can relax and shit, but nothing intoxicating and we stay on the ship as much as possible.

> [x] Stay on the Nero, Tell Mohai to have a good time.

"Good luck, sir," Bright said with as much cheer as he could muster. "I'll hold down the fort while you're gone."

"...you're not coming?" Mohai asked, surprise evident in his tone.

"Mister Scott has just begun maintenance on the main drive, and I want to ensure the Side Seven crew unloads the captured MS and our ballast properly," Bright said in reply.

"Mnn. All right, well, try and relax a bit. Just don't put your feet on my desk," Mohai said, terminating the call.

Bright moved back to the Captain's seat and slumped into it. Truth be told, he was tired - tired and worried, since the incident in the boarding dock. If that girl truly were Sayla mass, he would need to address the issue before she came to find him.

He was sure that she would. Moreover, if Jane were around when she did come calling, that would not end well for anyone.
