Previously: Cerulean along with a freshly assembled squadron of other aspiring Rangers set foot into the daunting Veridian Wood, a training ground located within the Veridian Quarter.

Mission Debriefing:
Capture a Farfetch'd Monster and/or its Leek. Alive, or dead.

With your squad assembled:
The stoic and traditional Janine, of Fuschia.
The mighty upcoming rookie, Bruise Lee, of Pewter
and the inferiority complex that is Goldenrod of Saffron, the prospect is looking bright.

However only time can tell how your mission will end.

Go time Rangers!

"Thanks," You pant," It'd really help a lot." You say as the uncomfortable heat washes over your body again.

Goldenrod looks at you, and then averts his eyes down,"I'll try hard." In the next moment, he vanishes appearing within sight near the top of one of the trees before a second teleport.

He might just be alright.

Janine looks up as he vanishes and turns her attention to the two of you, keep your eyes out for threats. While we're still at the entrance, we may still encounter some monsters. Here, you're going to want to watch out for small horned creatures, they sprout toxic barbs when threatened. Most of the others aren't a big deal if we avoid them."

Bruise seems considerate as he looks at his own index, carefully pressing inputs despite his cestus, nodding,"Nidoran, they're known as the Poison Pin monsters. I can see why we'd want o watch out. If I didn't have the cestus, I might not even be able to touch them.

You open up your own Index to look up the entry, frowning as you read one variant
>#032:Nidoran(male)
>Type: Poison pin
>Danger Level: D
>Entry: A small creature, more aggressive than its counterpart and just as toxic. Caution is to be taken should there be signs of encroaching upon one. It will charge and aim to stab with its toxic horn if threatened.
>It also bears toxic quills that it extends when angered.
>Excellent for making toxic rangers.

"It's on the floor, right? If we get near-"
"If we get near, the repel gear should help us escape detection. And we have two mid ranged fighters suited for dealing with them. We'll be fine."

Janine turns to look at a spot, just as Goldenrod ports back, he recoils with a small amount of terror, falling back onto the ground," Woah, woah, woah... That was weird."
>>
"Report,"
Goldenrod stands up abruptly and salutes, getting an "At ease" from Janine.
He starts," I sensed a lot of monsters to the west of here, West South-west To be more specific. We should find water there."

Janine gives Goldenrod a pat on the head, making him smile a little," Good work, we move out by his direction!"

Nidoran and Nidorino are just plain Poison types, weak to Ground/Psychic. Neither of which we have. Nidoking is Poison/Ground and is weak to Water and Ice.

Either way we're probably best off by hitting it with Icy Wind in order to slow it down and prevent it from poisoning our buds.

We're probably better at dealing with poison than the others, we have a thick layer of blubber and if we find a pool we can Hydrate in it and hopefully recover.
>>
>>28043311
We should talk about what roles we'll each take for the hunt.

With Goldenrod's abilities, he can see farther away than most of us, but Bruise has superior tracking and sensing abilities, so we'll rely on him for tracking in the immediate area.

In combat, Goldenrod lacks any offensive abilities of his own, but he brought along a few smoke bombs, so he'll be useful in the capacity of acting as a distraction/preparing for our escape.

Bruise can go on the attack or on the defense, so he should switch between these rolls at his discretion. We can support him with our own abilities by debilitating the opposition, and if needed, we can engage in combat ourselves.
>>
>>28043348
We have to go Full Blizzard if we wanna survive this one now.

>Minimum Chatter, contingency strategies!

With Bruise in the lead, the team moves carefully through the wood, the sound of wild and dangerous life buzzing and chattering around you, artificial echoes call back from the inner dome that the beasts are kept in, multiplying their numbers as they prey into your imagination.
The sweltering heat lingers, digging deep into your body as you stare at the back of Bruise and Goldenrod, Janine taking the back to watch over everyone. The lot of you are silent for the most part.

"Um, Janine?" You glance back at your leader only to hear a snort of air from her.
"Eyes to either side and front Cerulean." She huffs, obtrusively, glancing around, obviously perturbed by something.

"Ah, r-right." You adjust your vision, and Bruise gives a hushed call from the front.
"Kakunes ahead. Don't touch the trees.

That's when you see them, like silent statues upon the trees of the wood, shaded by the emerald green leaves of the trees, there's one, then two, then three, and then a dozen pods hung upon trees.
"J-Janine?" You worry, keeping your eyes trained upon the things, as their pitch black eyes stare back at you, empty.

"Keep quiet now, Cerulean, there's nothing to fear. They cannot move."

With a swallow, you nod and check your index.

>#014: Kakuna
>Type: Cocoon
>Entry: Threat to be exterminated before it hatches. Beware touch as it can extend a stinger through its shell in self defense.

With a nod, you feel a bit of relief, right before you feel a hand grab your shoulder and pull at you," Down!"
Bruise commands with a hushed urgency as two drones fly just overhead, their feet dragging through the space that the three of you had just been standing.

No need to rush, though. Panicked actions will reflect poorly of us; better to coordinate and act as a team.
>>
>Action: Lay Low for now
>Chance: 96- Remarkable.

The four of you stay low to the forest floor as the two things fiddle with the other's antennae. They do so for a short time, seeming to communicate whatever need be and then swiftly fly off, splitting up and tending to the rest of the kakunes.

Janine motions for everyone to move on, though quietly and slowly.

As the four of you move, Bruise notices a bug that's in the path of Goldenrod, and gives him a quick gesture to move around it. As you move past you take a quick look at the thing as it nibbles away at a fallen leaf, a large pink wishbone antennae bouncing from its head as it does so.
Despite you three passing so close, the repel tech seems to work, it doesn't see you at all.

In short time, the four of you see the last Kakuna of the immediate perimeter and finally take a breath of relief.

"That was a close call, they would've been all over us and forced us to run." Janine whispers while looking back, opening up her own index," Once more, our quarry is near water, I've lost our bearing, Goldenrod, can you-"

"We need to head Northwest," Bruise points in a direction, despite the cover of the canopy," It's this way.

Janine's insectoid eyes gleam at Bruise with restrained irritation," How can you be so sure?"

"Brock trained us to always orient ourselves. Simple." The Gray boy smiles," I didn't just learn how to fight after all."

Janine closes her index," Neither did I. We will go your way, though I'd still like Goldenrod to check." Janine gives the Saffron a nod, and he instantly grows meek.
"You sure? I think he's right, I'm pretty sure that he's right."

"Do not question me Goldenrod, this is part of your duty. You're best here at recon."

In this quest, you are most likely right but in the game, Alakazam was better than mew.
>>
>>28044162
That's one of the few things i could think of that actually WOULD give Mew a definite advantage.

Alakazam is just so goddamn fast though, both in body and in mind/decisionmaking speed/reflexes.

OHKO, almost certainly. IF mew lives, it might pull a win with a super effective move though.
>>
>>28044115
If its stats we're talking about then mew is still superior
>>
>>28044208
not really, Mew is a better all-rounder, but Alakazam is better at its role.
>>
>>28044159

Mew, Quoted from Silver pokedex, the first entry that speaks to its actual abilities and not just appearance/rarity.

"Its DNA is said to contain the genetic codes of all Pokémon, so it can use all kinds of techniques. "

Alakazam, quoted from Red: "Its brain can outperform a super-computer. Its intelligence quotient is said to be 5,000."

One of these things is an actual ability. One of these things is pretty irrelevant if you dont achieve the first strike.

>>28044208
Mew total stats: 600. Alakazam total stats: 490. There is some merit there.

Mew is a jack of all trades master of none, though. Alakazam is specialized in killing you immediately and mercilessly. If you have good well rounded stats but die on turn 1, you still suck though.
>>
Rolled 53

>>28044208
No.

Mew had an higher stat total, but none of his stats were high enough to be remarkable.

Alakazam had 135 in special and and 120 in speed, which is what you want in a special sweeper.

Mew only had 100 in special and speed.

Mew was a bit tougher and more versatile, but Alakazam was much faster and stronger.

Okay where is this coming from?

I've looked through all Charizard's pokedex lines and they are

>Spits fire that is hot enough to melt boulders. Known to cause forest fires unintentionally.

>When expelling a blast of super hot fire, the red flame at the tip of its tail burns more intensely.

>If CHARIZARD becomes furious, the flame at the tip of its tail flares up in a whitishblue color.

>Breathing intense, hot flames, it can melt almost anything. Its breath inflicts terrible pain on enemies.

>It uses its wings to fly high. The temperature of its fire increases as it gains experience in battle.

>CHARIZARD flies around the sky in search of powerful opponents. It breathes fire of such great heat that it melts anything. However, it never turns its fiery breath on any opponent weaker than itself.

> A CHARIZARD flies about in search of strong opponents. It breathes intense flames that can melt any material. However, it will never torch a weaker foe.

>Its wings can carry this POKéMON close to an altitude of 4,600 feet. It blows out fire at very high temperatures.

>It spits fire that is hot enough to melt boulders. It may cause forest fires by blowing flames.

>It is said that CHARIZARD’s fire burns hotter if it has experienced harsh battles.

>If CHARIZARD becomes furious, the flame at the tip of its tail flares up in a light blue shade.

"Um, Janine?"
Your voice squeaks out, as you fall under her intense glare,"What is it?"

"I, um.." You look back to the wood from which you came, "Kakunes. The Index says that we should, um." You squirm under the older girl's gaze as she says nothing.
"We should ex-exterminate them..."

Janine's human eyes go wide before she slaps herself in the head, sucking in air with a hiss. "Crap, you're right, we should go back. We need to get rid of them or we'll run into them again on the way out. Unless we take another way out. Then we might just-"

Janine's face begins to flush red as she snaps her vision back into the Beedrill wood.
Bruise seems slightly amused by her display, and you can't help but suppress a small smile as you point out her error.

"Without any dangers in this part, we move back to exterminate the Kakunes and Beedrills."
Janine nods, and slides a dagger from her pouch, an attached wire glistening slightly in sparse rays of sun.

Goldenrod returns and you all prepare.

>Engagement imminent
>Battle: Beedrill Swarm(x2 known)/Kakuna backup.

>[]Preparation?

>Bruise equips Iron Cestus for close combat.
>Goldenrod will run safety teleportation to save from lethal stings.
>Repel tech will be turned off squad-wide once engagement begins.
>Janine will throw wires to entangle the flyers.

Any suggestion Cerulean may be able to give will increase her respect. Respect will give leader-ship options.

>>28044277
Get our Bident ready.

Plan a group escape strategy with Janine consisting of icy wind followed by smokebomb.
>>
>>28044277
We all have flint and tinders, right? We should try to start a controlled fire, since Beedrills are weak towards fire and the smoke will choke them.
>>
>>28044277
Get in Mid-range area and use our ice wind on them, it should be able to affect most of the Beedrill
>>
>>28044317
that could ...backfire and is counter to our natural super-effective attack of freezing their shit.
>>
>>28044277

tell janine that we don't have anti poison so if we get sting then someone needs to help us
>>

No I didn't.
>>
>>28044355
i could swear you did.
>>
>>28044338
Just going by the monster index entry.

But that is right; we'd probably get dehydrated much faster.

>>28044277
If we can spare one of the four smoke bombs we have, we should use it to choke the insects.
>>
>>28044277
We'll obviously hit groups with Icy Wind.

If I remember correctly Beedrill's are protective of Kakuna, so we may be able to lure all of the Beedrill to one location by setting something up that hurts one of them and hiding nearby. Once they gather together we can drop them with Janine's wires wrapped around them and the area they've gathered to keep them from splitting up or heading straight towards us, and throwing Icy Wind at them over and over until they die.

Also we don't want to be blindsided by Beedrills coming from directions we aren't expecting, getting them bunched up makes it easier to avoid reinforcements coming in from somewhere we aren't expecting and means we can take them all out with AoE attacks and the like.

>>28044343
We have an antidote and can Hydrate in water if we need to.

Also does this mean that most of the time when Charizard kills everything, it doesn't even breathe fire to do so?
>>
>>28044385
smoke doesn't hurt them, just drives them into a frenzy. our Icy Wind on the other hand will to lots of damage to all of them. all we have to do is keep it about ground level and we are fine
>>
Hand a smoke bomb off to Goldenrod, have him teleport it and deposit it underneath the Kakunas. The beedrills will be drawn to protect them and get drowsy.

Thats when we strike.
>>
>>28044412
oh jeeze that's terrifying
>>
>>28044277
For these two suggestions
>>28044313
>>28044329
We should probably focus on Bruise as the 'spear tip' of our attack. As the fastest and most agile one among us (sans Janine; we don't really know how quickly she can move), he'd be able to draw their attention and escape from them easier than any one of us.

Once he draws them in, we can hit them with an Icy Wind, and he can charge through them to escape and simultaneously scatter them.

>>28044413
>drives them into a frenzy
Is this a real life insect thing? Since I thought smoke was supposed to be bad for insects.
>>
>>28044431
i thought smoke (when not contained inside something) irritates insects in their drive to avoid it.

it puts bees to sleep though so i am not quite sure
>>
Rolled 12

>>28044431
If they are already grouped, we could open with icy wind and have Bruise run in afterward, in order to not hit Bruise with our icy wind.
>>
we should have informed janine that our biology naturally recovers from things like poison and paralysis with hydration, so she should consider that before using whatever supplies she uses for her own techniques.

>>28044447
opening with icy wind is a good idea, we might want to have bruise go full defense if the type chart is in full effect, since fighting is 1/4 effective against bug/poison, though how one differentiates from a fighting strike and a 'normal' strike is up in the air.
>>
>>28044447
Ah, for some reason, I didn't think about Bruise.

Okay, redo:
>>28044277
Have Goldenrod draw them in and teleport out of harms way. We use Icy Wind on them, then Bruise can charge through them to scatter and confuse them.
>>
Rolled 40

So combingin ideas so far, we could have Grumpy teleport a smoke bomb inside of a cluster of kakuna to attract the beedrills attention prior to turning off our repel tek. Once they are all grouped together, we can use icy wind on them, either freezing them or at least slowing them down in their tracks long enough for Janine or Rock Lee to finish them off.

Holdenrod can still teleport in if anybody needs help and we can provide support with water gun if necesarey.

Good plan?

You share you idea with the others, and Janine approves of it, with a rather impressed smirk,"That's some good thinking Cerulean, I like it."

You grip your spear as everyone takes positions, Goldenrod does so dutifully with a bit of warmth from his roll in the plan.

You set up from a decent vantage point within the wood, a slightly open part that allows you sight of Goldenrod's mark.
Janine laces trees with her wired knives, setting up a snare for the would-be stingers. Her actions seem to trigger curious responses from the Bees as they move about to investigate the knife swishings through the air.
Bruise approaches low, ready to pounce upon the two lone guard drones that tend to the cocooned threats.

On a whistle, Janine signals the start of the attack and a smoke-bomb detonates at the center of the forest, sending out a wide and obscuring layer of smoke. The Bees are driven into a frenzy, driving forth into the center, to find nothing but the cover as Goldenrod ports to the outside, Janine signals to you, and you unleash a torrent of your icy wind, hissing through the woods with a mighty gale, frosting over the leaves and chilling the insects' slow blood to a crawl as the bite of your chill takes them.

As they begin to lazily seek an escape, they are entangled by the wires, suffering further abuse as Bruise meets their strugglings amidst the wake of the cold air with a brutal fist, dashing one of them apart.
At that; Janine drives in as well, leaping from tree to tree within a blink of your eye, slicing through the guardian drones.

You feel a pressure upon your mind, seeing Goldenrod as you turn, seeing that he's come to watch you," It went well." He gives you a small smile.

You give a deep sigh of relief as it all passes over smoothly, the sound of crumbling shells heard through the wood as the creatures die from your squad's strategy.

Creeping out from the clearing with your squad-mate in tow, you search the forest for survivors, seems that their all dead, all the cocoons are broken, or nearly breaking.

One still squirms, partially alive. You thrust your bident forward, skewering the thing as it tries to escape from its shell. The electricity kicks in, the thing shrieks, and then dies, roasted alive.

You relax, letting your Bident hang down at your side, feeling the pleasant chill of the air wash over your body, a good thing. The heat was terrible.
You suddenly hear another little shriek, as your bident flares up and an oppressive stench hits your nostrils, sprayed over your body, as a green worm with pink antennae squirms into death.
"Augh! By Arceus, it stinks!" You cover your nose, wincing your eyes closed as it hits you so hard that the world goes fuzzy, spinning right along with the roiling of your stomach.

"Ceru was hit by a Caterpie!" Bruise calls as he rushes over to you, stopping just short of the smell and turning right around, on guard,"We need to go to the water now!" His voice is louder than usual, oh Arceus why is it so loud, it will...

You see the flicker of Janine land besides you, mutually on guard, back to you," Not so loud Bruise, you'll attract others. This area is compromised. We need to move now, Goldenrod, can you teleport us?"
"Only one."
"Damn," Janine curses under her breath. "She's hit with the stink, she'll attract others if it isn't washed off and covered with something to-"

Something moves from the bushes, curious and predatory eyes peeking out, Janine slides the flat of a knife across her skin and launches it into the face of one, making it recoil and hiss horribly. "Get her out of here now Goldenrod!"
"But-"
The wounded creature growls, and others begin to breach. Snakes, and other bug-like eyes lurch forward.
"Get her out of here!" Bruise yells this time as one of the snakes lunges for one of his legs, receiving a smashed head in return.

"Where.. do we meet?" You groan out, as you feel yourself beginning to heave, the potent odor taking its toll on you, generating a queasy, nauseous feeling.
Janine's blades hands flicker through the air like magic as she takes down a pair of lunging rats, her foul poisonous sweat glimmering off of her blades and neck.
"Lake. Go!" She shouts. You feel a hand upon your shoulder, and suddenly your perspective changes as you and Goldenrod float upon the air for a brief moment before you two begin to fall.

"Hold on-" A quick and silent mutter from the boy as the same thing happens again, your location is vastly displaced, and you've got a hang-time again.
"Three... more." He groans out through gritted teeth. You feel a surge from your stomach as you loose the contents of your stomach as the next port takes place, in the distance, you can see the trees move with the results, and in the sky you see a magnesium emergency flare take off through the air, you can't tell exactly what direction it is.
"Oh Arceus," You groan as you feel another sick lurch, you hope it isn't theirs. You hope it isn't your team.

Several seconds later, the world shifts again, and you're next to a lake, coughing on your own bile as the stench still pervades your nostrils.

Not far, you see Goldenrod heaving as he touches his index, his form shifting as he turns his repel tech back on.

You look to your own wrist groggily, and touch the option, engaging your system. It's then you notice with a sick frustration that in that mess you dropped your bident. Damn...

Goldenrod finally pukes up a bit and wipes it off on the sleeve of his coat with a painful grimace.
"We need.. To wash you. You need to wash. Smells.. really bad." He pants with exhaustion, his eyes flickering as they try to roll back. "I.. I need. I need. I need slee... Slee-" After an attempt at a yawn, he falls to the damp soil of the lakeside.

You hear distant fighting, though you can't tell which direction it's from, it feels like its all around you.

We need to wash off, or we'll attract people. But first, let's try to find somewhere we can hide Goldenrod first.

We can go with the earlier suggestion of using Water Gun on ourselves and Icy Wind to try and cover up the smell. Then we can stash Goldenrod somewhere safe. Once we do that, let's clean and Rest ourselves in the water.

Which was why I was saying that we try to wash it off/cover it up quickly with our Water Gun + Icy Wind. Not as thorough, but any animal with a sensitive enough nose to notice the remaining scent will probably be onto us already.

We need to show care for Goldenrod; he just helped us escape and he's vulnerable now (although, I think he's supposed to be still conscious even while sleeping?).

You think. as you push through the reeds, a dizzy backwards glance to the sleeping Goldenrod.

You have someone that saved you, and that person needs protecting now. Yes, he needs you now.

As you stumble against the moist ground, you pass through tall overgrown reeds just in time to see something brown dart out of vision, followed by the frenzied flapping of some kind of bird.

You see a green stick in its beak, and a brown back as it flees from you and your horrible stink. It takes a very slow moment for you to realize something.

Don't real bees do something similar?
>>
In your woozy state, you put two and two another and try to think, think... what can you do to mark it?

Squinting hard to focus your vision, you think to your own horrid stench, how easy it was for the other monsters to seek out. A slow nod rocks your vision, yes, yes, that thought makes sense, you could do that.

Crushing your eyes together, you take a lip of the horrid, bitter death spray upon your clothes and in the next moment spray a diluted solution of the caterpie stink at the fleeing waterfowl, rocking it midflight, and causing it to look back, bewildered as it flutters away even more hurriedly than before.

Then you see it, as a smile traces across your face. The stink hits it, and it falls partway into the lake, splashing among the water.

>Farfetch'd in the lake!

You just need to secure it now.

You dive into the water...

But will you make it in time?

You have a point.

It could be a test to see if we value personal glory higher than the wellbeing of our colleague.
>>
With the quarry hitting the water, so do you too dive into the the water, your nose plugs itself reflexively, having learned from your past mistakes in the gym.
Your second eyelids fold over, giving you goggle-like vision as you surge forth beneath the waves, your mind clearing up with the soothing presence of water.

You see the light of the sun play across the water's surface through the slight murk of the water. The webbed orange and green feet of your prize is within reach...

In a flash, you grab it, from the body, around the wings and grasping around its throat as you pull it under the water. A hand wraps around its beak, keeping it from losing any air as it thrashes wildly, trying to get a grasp on its stick.
With precision that you've learned fighting underwater, you manage to loosen the leek from the grip of its wings, suffer only a few pecks, and give it a quick concussive blast of water to knock it out.

Dragging your quarry from the water, you feel a sense of triumph as it drips wetly, watering the damp earth.

Using a knot that you'd been shown in general training, you manage to bind its beak and feet with string, and lace up its wings with your length of rope. Wary of the stick, you stick it in your bag, stowing it away. With a sniff, you find that the tribulations within the lake have about washed off the smell, replacing it with a nice mossy, aquatic smell. One that reminds you fondly of your gym.

It's not even half a day in and you've already secured the target. You smile to yourself, even giggling a little.

You blink back any forming tears and force yourself to smile as you pick up the sleeping boy, pulling him into your plushy hug, you hug out the insult.
(What are you doing you fat seel?! Stop it! Stop hugging me!)

You put his limp head over your shoulder, and let him rest there for a moment, his telepathic protests becoming increasingly frenzied and unintelligible.

(You stupid fish, stupid stupid dead weight! I hate you! Why are you so nice to me?! I just want you to leave me alone! Leave me alone! Go away! Stop! Stopstopstopstopstop!)

"Thank you Grumpy, you got us here. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have caught it. You're awesome."

His mental voice goes quiet for a moment, only to be replaced by a hiccup from his body, and then a sniffle. You feel something wet trickle down your shoulder, followed by a silent swallow.

"Are you-"
(Shut up. I didn't want a stupid smelly fish to hug me. I didn't want an ugly white cow to thank me. But you went and did both. You stupid, stupid, stupid.)

His words sting as they pour into your mind, but they feel empty and guarded, as though they're not what he's really feeling, and within the next line, you're certain of that.

(...Sorry..) But a whisper in your mind, you hear it clearly, and snuggle the broken boy a little more.
"I should call the others, right?"

"What?"

You pull back a little from your squad-mate, feeling his sleeping hands grasp at you lightly. A pleasant smile gleams from your face, as you look at him, despite his sleep,"I thought we already were."
The slumbering hands tighten slightly, pulling at your warm, wet sleeves.

(Oh. So.. We are. Thanks... Umm.. Cerulean. Your name's still stupid.)
"Alright, time to call the others."

You sit up Goldenrod and he seems to support himself well enough sitting, his almond eyes closed into little slits among the yellow coloration of his skin.

You bring up your index and put it into short range coms
>Reaches team-mates up to one adjacent tile away.

It buzzes silently for a moment before you soeak into it,"This is C, of J-nine squad. C of J-nine. Do you, um.. Copy? Over."

Some time passes and you repeat the call a few more times, your heart beating with increasing intensity after each one, worry filtering into your mind from the state that you had to leave Janine and Bruise.

"B of J-nine. I copy. C, is G there with you? Over."
"Yes, G is with me, and F is too. Is J with you? Over"
"That's a negative C," Your heart stops," J got separated, got some stink on her and ran away with that swarm. I was tied, she saved me. You have F? Over"

You hold back the welling emotion and nod slowly," Yes, Target secure. Over"
"Spectacular, We might want to head back. Over"

You raise your eyebrows and stare, incredulous," Really?"

"Mission complete, J is a senior. She'll be fine. Or she's-"
"Don't say it." You suck at the air.

Your call Cerulean, leader is MiA.

perhaps Goldenrod might be able to try and sense her even while he sleeps, he can communicate and sense his immediate surroundings. worth a shot. just sensing for human minds nearby is important anyways. If it is singular than it is probably janine, if there are multiple we want to hide in case of opportunistic competition.

even if janine or even a ranking ranger chastised us for choosing to look for her, I would say it is in character to say the target is just a stupid duck, but janine could have gotten hurt for real.

Yeah, I was just pointing out the obvious conclusion.

till we use SM style voting to prevent samefagging

The gist of what I'm saying is that; how many from her batch are still around?

I can see that you're eager to get the prize and have Cerulean be praised, but that doesn't mean we should just disregard the safety of our team mates. And it's just too naive to think that nothing wrong will happen to Janine if we ignore her (especially since we can't contact her and she should have been heading towards our direction; we AGREED to rendezvous there earlier on, after all). If nothing bad happens to her, that's great, but why would that be our first assumption?

It doesn't matter now, because I still maintain that regardless what we later decide on, we should ask Bruise Lee to head towards the lake, so he can help carry Goldenrod and Farfetch'd.

Going by the pattern in this thread

When it comes to chance, it's best of 7. When it comes to the "danger zone", it's best of 5.

Oh god please hurry professor
I just want the next update so this retarded argument can stop and we find out what we need to do nexr

He's out on an errand right now.

With a heavy heart you mull over your next move carefully as you glance at the captured farfetch'd. Your luck and hard work.. It can't all be for nothing, and Bruise has a point here, at the very least, you need to return the target. Janine can take care of herself, at least for a while.

"B, we're going to return to the gate. We'll look for J after. She better be okay... Over."

"You and G return. I'll look for her. Over." You feel a weight lifted from your shoulder, as the mantle of responsibility is passed.
"Ah, yes. G is um he's asleep. G is asleep, so that's for the best, right?" O-over."

"He's out?"
"Sort of."
"For the best then. Meet you at the gate. B out."

The radio goes silent, and you feel a stir from the latent wild-life around after the radio chatter. Almost as though they "heard" it. It seems that you'd been brief enough that they've ignored you.
You open up your index and snap a couple pictures of Farfetch'd.
"Note: It is repelled by Caterpie stink when approached with stealth tech. When hit by the smell, it uh.. Washes itself off. End Record." You close the index.
(So, Janine is missing? Serves that wretched bug)
"Shut up Grumpy. You can talk to me that way, but you can't talk about Janine."
You hoist up the water fowl with a short rope, heaving up its weight with some struggle,"Now, for you..."
(Please.) The Esper child disappears, and you feel a weight bear upon your back suddenly as he grasps you for a piggyback.

"I guess that works."
(I'll teleport if there's danger. I'll try for both of us.)

"Thanks Grumpy!) You flare your nostrils as you huff out the obnoxious atmosphere, doing your best to ignore the nearly tropical heat of this wretched place.

Trudging onward to the goal, you're nearing completion of the mission...

Oh good.

Especially since he's a lot stronger and faster than we are, and just being in an environment this wet and humid tires us out.

Next time on AoPHQ
Will we be even cuter?
Will we save Janine?
Is there a cuteness limit before we suddenly perform infinite hug works and make the world better?
Find out next time professor decides to run!

Like while someone looking for her is the right thing to do, we really aren't suited for it.

Someone was talking about compromising a while ago. I don't understand why that was ignored.
