Previously on Gundam X Quest:
>The Freeden crew's voyage takes a turn for the worse when David's GX Hyper-Spec is shot hown in a power struggle between the Hyper Satellite Cannon and the Gundam Double X's Twin Satellite Cannons.
>David awakens roughly two months later in the captured military base, Zonder Epta, now repurposed by ESTO forces.
>In the two months he has been unconscious, much has been accomplished, and the New UNE's plans have been foiled at every turn.

Now, David finds himself commanding a group of five trainees in Crusaders, as part of a training exercise organized by himself and Ennil El...
>>
"Alright now, do the five of you remember the plan?" you ask in a hushed tone.

You're met with a chorus of just-a-bit-too-loud confirmations, causing you to wince slightly.

"Alright, just keep it quiet, alright? Follow my lead..."

You lead your rag-tag bunch of trainees, and before long, you find one of the opposing team's Crusaders.

You grin; seems he hasn't noticed any of you; you've got the element of surprise.

>Let the Trainees handle this, this is a training exercise, after all.

You figure the best way to teach these guys was to do it by example, so you approach the lone Crusader, take aim, and...

PHUNT! PHUNT! PHUNT!

Three shots right in the back, and you grin as you hear the "downed" pilot cursing his head off.

But still, something feels wrong... You check your surroundings, and don't find anything, but you can sure as heck FEEL something...

You direct your trainees in the direction of the disturbance you had felt, stressing that they spread out, and stay hidden. You yourself would take a more direct route, and act as bait in the event it was an ambush; better that they target you than your teammates.

You trudge on alone, glancing at your surroundings as you continue forward.

There's that sensation again; though, instead of a tingle, it's more of a flash!

"Got you, David!"

OH SHIT, IT'S ENNIL!

PHUNT! PHUNT PHUNT PHUNT!

"Gah, Dammit!" you cry out, having been "shot" in the cockpit several times by Ennil El.

"Seems you've been beaten, David." says Ennil, smirking through the video feed into her cockpit.

"So it does." you reply, your tone flat.

"By a Jenice, no less." says Ennil, her smirk only getting bigger.

"That I have..." you say, sighing. "You're going to hang this over my head for a looong time, aren't you, Ennil?"

"You know it, hotshot." she replies, her smirk having turned into a full blown shit-eating grin. "Now if you'll excuse me, I do believe I'm going to go pick off the rest of your squadron."

"Have fun." you say, your voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Oh, I will." replies Ennil, chuckling.

As she leaves, you can't help but groan in frustration. You should have been able to dodge that; you felt her presence easily enough, but you just couldn't react fast enough to dodge her rounds. What was up with that?

>Maybe that explosion did more than just give you an admittedly badass scar... you should probably go see Techcs as soon as you can.
>You're probably just a little rusty, is all; you WERE in a coma for two months,so it's natural to assume you aren't as strong or as fast as you were before.

RIGHT?

Oh God damn it, that's exactly what's happened, isn't it?

All of the above, I guess. Ennil got better, we just woke up from a coma, and we should check in with Techs just in case.

>>28061863
Techs explained that Newtype powers either go away all at once (like Jamil) or slowly over time which causes immense pain (like Lucile).
So it's possible that we're slowly losing our shit. You guys wanted a Satellite cannon duel, now look at what you did.
>>

The frequency of critfails are pretty ridiculous. I'd rather we switch to 4d20 or just to roll under.

On one hand, you WERE a little rusty; you'd been comatose for roughly two months. Anyone's strength and reflexes would be shit after spending that long incapacitated. Of course, Ennil could have just gotten better than you, plain and simple.

On the other, perhaps that explosion did more to you than give you that scar... You make a mental note to see Techcs later. Just in case something really -was- wrong with you. You really hoped it wasn't the case, but knowing your shit luck...

Well, better safe than sorry, right?

After Ennil and her cohorts finish handing your team their asses, you find yourself back inside of the base, trying to remember where the crap the medical wing was. You should make it a point to install directories in this place, like they have at malls or something.

You stand at a crossroads of sorts; the hall continued on, but also split two ways; there was another hallway to the left, and another to the right. The medical bay should be SOMEWHERE around here, right?

Which way will you go?

You decide to keep going forward, glancing to the left or right for any sort of familiar sights or faces. Unfortunately, nothing seems to jump out at you, and the hallway you're in is surprisingly devoid of personnel. Eventually you make your way to a corner, and find...

YES, you found the medical bay, along with Techcs, who was busy drinking coffee, and reading a book.

"Techcs?" you say, stepping inside. "I need to ask you something..."

"What is it, David? You look... distressed." replies Techcs, setting down his mug and book.

"Well..." you begin, sighing. "I'm starting to think that more than just my face got damaged in that explosion..."

"Why do you say that?" asks Techcs, raising an eyebrow. "Did something happen during the training exercise?"

"Well... yes and no." you say, scratching the back of your head. "I could sense where Ennil was... or at least I think I could... it was more of a vague sensation than anything..."

"Hmm... did you experience a migraine, or pressure of any kind?"

"Not that I can think of, no..." you admit.

"Hmm... Considering that you've been comatose for two months, your musculature has atrophied somewhat." muses Techcs, sipping his coffee.

"That's what I was thinking too. I was hoping that was all that it was." you say.

"Unfortunately, we can't know for sure; Zonder Epta's medical facilities are indeed top notch, but they lack the equipment to determine if you've suffered any sort of extensive brain damage as a result of your brush with death." says Techcs. "Fortunately, the Freeden is set to depart for the Newtype Research Facility in North America tomorrow at Eight o' clock AM. If there was any place that had equipment like that, it would be there."

"The Newtype Research Facility? Why would the Freeden be going there?" you ask.

"Because," begins Techcs, taking another sip. "They are being funded by the New UNE, who wants them to continue their research into making Newtypes into weapons of war."

(Cont'd.)
>>
"Ah." you say. "That's not good at all."

"Indeed." agrees Techcs. "If Jamil cannot convince the director of the institute to discontinue their research, then things may very well turn... violent."

"Still..." you say. "That place may very well be my only shot."

"True... Are you absolutely sure about this, David?" asks Techcs. " With the pressure the ESTO's been putting on the New UNE, anywhere they have their claws sunk into, like the Newtype Research Facility, will most likely be crawling with guards."

>"Absolutely; it's a risk I'm willing to take."
>"On second thought... No. I'm probably just being paranoid anyway."
>>
>>28062711
>"Absolutely; it's a risk I'm willing to take."
Brain damage is nothing to take lightly.
>>

Besides, it's not just about us, but all the Newtypes out there.
>>
>>28062711
>"Absolutely; it's a risk I'm willing to take."
The facility might have the equipment and proper pain medication for Lucille and Carris while we're at it. And maybe a list of Newtypes that Jamil will surely be interested in.

>>
"Absolutely." you say, nodding. "It's a risk I'm willing to take. I'd rather not be in the middle of combat and come down with a sudden migraine."

"There's a very real possibility that could happen anyway, should you be correct..." points out Techcs.

"Yeah, and that would make going there a pointless endeavor, wouldn't it?" you say. "Still, you know what they say; the more the merrier, right?"

"I suppose so." muses Techcs. "Anyway, you'll be departing tomorrow in the Freeden, along with Witz, Roybea, Garrod, and Ennil. Will that be alright?"

Actually, what happened during the last two months?
>>
>>28062959
I do. I've counted them against eachother. In that and Persona Quests, 1s are favored over 20s by 17%. And it doesnt change the fact we have a 23% of a critfail anyway.
>>
>>"Wouldn't it be a better idea to take the Sandshark AND Freeden?"
>>
>>28062966
>"Yeah, that sounds fine."
Although we should ask the Frost brothers first on how familiar they are with the facility. Just some key info that we should know anyway.
They already explained their motivations early on, so it'd probably best not to tempt fate and put them within sight of the facility which garnered their hatred.

I'm guessing that since this is a Newtype agenda, we'll have to defer to Jamil's opinion on this, hence why it's fine to leave the Sandshark to continue pursuing ESTO business. That'll leave Kauto and maybe Enil in charge for a while though.
>>
>>28062986
Canon, apparently. Except we win because we have the ESTO's Crusaders backing the Freeden and Estard up. Northernbell isn't destroyed, and Gastar doesn't betray Estard, either. We basically get even more funding, resources, and allies since we beat the shit out of the the New UNE for those guys.
>>
Seems there's a bit of a tie between saying "That's fine" and asking why we can't take both Dave's ship and the Freeden.

Therefore, in this case, I'll just combine the two.

>Writing...
>>
>>28063095
Alright then, hopefully nothing bad happened while we were out. We also probably got Jamil and Ennil's Vulture friends to join our side. Wonder what happened to Katokk in our timeline - did he join us as well?
>>
>>28063211
Unfortunately, that bit of canon hasn't changed. He still dies.

>Back to writing...
>>
"That's fine and all..." you begin. "But why just the Freeden? Wouldn't be a better idea to take the Freeden and Sandshark? Safety in numbers and all that, right?"

"You would think so..." replies Techcs. "But Jamil insisted that it be something that his crew handles."

"And Ennil is a part of the Freeden's crew since when?" you ask.

"Apparently, Toniya had asked her to join back on Saint's Island a few months ago." says Techcs, taking another sip of coffee. "Seems she's only recently accepted the offer; about a month or so ago, if memory serves."

"Then if she's going, so am I. I may have my own ship,, but I'm still a part of the Freeden's crew... sort of." you say. "I'd be going even if Jamil said no."

"Good thing he didn't." replies Techcs, chuckling. "Apparently, this was something Jamil had been planning to do for a while now, and had wanted you there with the others. Then, well... you went and exploded."

"Yeah..." you say. "I kind of did... Eight o' clock, right?"

Techcs only nods, and as you step of of the room, he stops you, handing you a folded up piece of paper.

>Item gained: Zonder Epta Map

"Techcs..." you say, trembling. "You are a god amongst men, you know that?"

"I'm just a simple doctor looking out for his patients. That's all." replies Techcs, taking a sip of his coffee, and returning to his book. That smooth motherfucker...

You follow the map to where you assume your quarters on the base to be, as Techcs had marked it on the map, along with the mess hall, all the hangar bays, and of course, his office.

You are pleasantly surprised by what you see; it's modestly decorated; a full-sized bed sits in one corner, a desk in another, a television is mounted in an upper corner of the room where you can see it from the bed, and there's a small radio. Opposite the wall with the bed, there's a door that leads ibnto your own bathroom, which has a shower stall, toilet, and a sink with a medicine cabinet.

Damn, the soldiers here were -comfy-.

(Cont'd.)
>>
You decide to have a nice, warm shower before you go to bed. Although you didn't doubt that your funk from being bedridden for two months was... taken care of by some willing (or unwilling) volunteer, you felt more secure with the fact that you yourself made sure you were squeaky clean.

You set the alarm clock built into the radio for 6 AM, hopefully giving you plenty of time to prepare yourself for tomorrow...

>Gonna end it here for tonight, folks; it's midnight over here, and there's no doubt that thread traffic's slowed down to a crawl. You can prove me wrong if you want, but I need to get my sleep. The Quest will resume at the usual time tomorrow, so no need to worry.

So, with the ESTO's Crusaders being a match for the Balients, you think we'll see the Daughtress Neos rolled out earlier than in canon because of the aforementioned Crusaders being a match for the Balients? For that matter, have the other forms, such as the melee form or long range form been used yet?
>>
>>28069174
We'll see. We screwed with the canon enough so that the NUNE deciding that we're a bigger threat than usual is not impossible.

As for the other forms, no idea. They probably were tested, but we haven't heard much about it.
Come to think of it, we didn't meet with the rest of the crew or talked to anyone now that we've woken up.

We'll probably get a chance to catch up with the others once we get on board the Freeden.

If the other forms have just been tested, and not produced en masse, that would mean that the New UNE just made the Daughtress Neos thinking that the Crusaders were just general purpose combat Mobile Suits, and not modular in any way, right?

>Random NUNE mook's face when a High-Speed Melee loadout Crusader bumrushes him with a big-ass beam lance.

Since the melee form is based off of the Adele's Starks wear, it's natural to assume it'd have weapons similar to it, right? Besides, beam lances are awesome.

Looking over the previous threads, it says that the Crusader is similar in performance to the Balient, but that the modularity gives it that extra edge. So apparently the wears have been tested, or at least, some of them did (the wear system in itself will allow us rapid repairs, you just need to swap the broken part and it's good as new).

Anyway, we should see if our other suits can be made modular as well. We need to keep a tactical edge over the enemy, and so far, having these wears has proven extremely effective. Hardpoints for weapons would also be nice to have, as well as some trick grenades or upgraded ships. The NUNE will be coming after us hard after we attack that Newtype lab, even more so after they figure out that we organized the entire ESTO.

As for the lances, hell yeah, those are fucking awesome.

>The next day, somewhere in North America, en route to the Newtype Research Facility...

You sigh, wandering the all-too-familiar halls of the Freeden, yesterday's events weighing heavily on your mind.

You've been meaning to catch up with the others; it HAS been two months, after all. You've talked with Garrod, and he's managed to fill you in somewhat on recent events, and while you did get your rear handed to you by Ennil the other day, that wasn't exactly what you'd call "catching up". So, ideas for upgrades?
Either for the ESTO suits, our Gundams, ships, whatever.
>>
>>28086911
Well, our Gundam has been upgraded from a regular GX to the Hyper-Spec, which, while not QUITE as powerful as the Double X, is still pretty beastly. The Airmaster apparently already got upgraded, possibly into the Airmaster Burst, and the Leopard is currently getting overhauled, presumably into the Destroy.

Maybe we can upgrade the upgrades... Like, I dunno... give the Airmaster Burst the Gunmaster's fuckhuge gun, or the Swordmaster's arm mounted swords. Or both.

The Leopard's other upgrades are pretty much crap, so there's not much we could do on that end.

Best thing for the Hyper Spec... Well... best I can think of is maybe a Full Armor option? It'd make sense; we got our butts handed to us when we decided to take on the DX.
>>
>>28087670
Well, if Dave is losing his Newtype powers, we won't be able to use the bits as often as we did. So I guess we could go for an armor upgrade, and maybe using one of the bits so that we can mount another satellite cannon on its back. Maybe additional rocket launchers like the ones we have in the legs would work too - if we lose the bits, we'll lose our crowd control.

For the others, an Airmaster / Gunmaster combo would be interesting - maybe something like a Crossbone Full Armor variant? For the Leopard, I've no idea except maybe giving it beam weapons instead of regular solid ones. Or going for something like the AGE-3 Fortress, with lots of beam cannons?
>>
>>28087924
Well, the Leopard Destroy swaps out solid round weaponry for beam weapons, which reduces the weight on the Leopard, thanks to not having to carry any physical ammunition outside of the missiles.

In terms of the Airmaster Burst getting additional upgrades in the form of its other upgrades' weapons, it's a possibility. We could make the Swordmaster's EM Blades be mounted on a swivel mechanism, so they can move out of the way, and Witz could hold the huge-ass gun of the Gunmaster. The one problem would be that adding all of that would increase the weight.

Why are they called Electromagnetic Blades? Would that mean they're designed in such a way that the physical blades can parry beam weaponry? That makes sense, right?

So the ways to fix that would be to find ways to reduce the weight without compromising structural integrity, increasing thrust to the point where it can still fly despite all of the extra weight, without adding so much that it would shake apart the MS, or kill the pilot.

Or we could just add one extra weapon so we won't have to compensate for too much extra weight.

For the Hyper-Spec, we'd have to design the additional armor in such a way that it'll increase our survivability, but not prevent us from using the Hyper Satellite Cannon, which means that we'd have to find a way to allow the Microwave Receiver on the chest to... still receive microwaves so the cannon can work.

Maybe a section of the armor could unfold to reveal the microwave receiver when necessary? That way, it still protects it when not in use, and by extension, us, since it's so close to the cockpit.

Still feeling like crap, so we'll have to pick this up next week guys. I'll most likely be better by then... I hope.

Sorry to those hoping we could pick things up tonight.
