"I...I don't know." Haruka shakes her head. "Every vision I've had of the Prophet and those under her command doesn't show me where they could be. It's always in the dark, with the staff giving off a blinding, searing light." She swallows here, wincing as if in pain, and then takes another sip of her tea. "I haven't seen anything that could indicate where they may strike next, either.

Hnh. Well, at least you have a name. Mikuni Oriko. You didn't think she'd take her grudge against you this far, but it just goes to show--

"If you'd like, though..." The blonde-haired girl suddenly speaks up, interrupting your train of thought. "I can conduct a seeing. R-right now. With...with your permission, of course, since I will have to transform in order to do it." Haruka looks up at you, a nervous smile curling her lips. "I will also need certain objects to help me conduct it."

A seeing? You blink at this, but you couldn't help but a bit wary, here. What kind of stuff does she need, then? Some sort of Ouija board, stuff like that?

"Mirrors," Haruka replies. "Just mirrors. Nine of them. Like something you'd see in a clothes shop? The full body size ones?"

Mirrors. Huh. Well, that doesn't sound too much. You could probably have someone bring down a few from the living quarters. If not, someone can run out and buy some.

"I don't guarantee success, but if you'd like me to make the attempt, I can." Haruka places her teacup down on its saucer, and clasps her hands on her lap. "And with you being here, Miss Matsuda, you'd be able to see what I see as well, making the entire process transparent, and to allow you to make your own decision whether I am feeding you lies or the truth."

Mmh. You're not all that hot with the idea, but...well, you're here anyway. And if she tries anything, you've got a Culexus AND the Desert Eagle with you.

What do you do?

Dont worry, she will probably show up in the Mirrors anyway, she is a bitch like that, and you should know it by now.

I missed the voting window, but in general I'm oppsed to having Haruka do a seeing in our presence, because we are skirting the line with Pinky as-is. We don't want to do anything that would risk Pinky interference, seeing as how hostile she is to Haruka. Having her do one in the presence of someone else, such as Yuma, while we are far away, is acceptable. Us directly witnessing a seeing is too dangerous, for everyone involved.
>>
>>28101605 >28101614 >>28101623 >>28101630

You ask Haruka about the seeing. What happens during it? What kind of events should you expect during the seeing, and what kind of shit shouldn't happen? And is it going to be safe? Not just for you or Yuma, but also for her?

"It's...normally, it's safe, Miss Matsuda," Haruka nods. "I've done it numerous times before, and nothing untoward has happened to be in any of those times." She gestures around you. "What we'll be doing is basically using the mirrors as viewing portals to a time period not of our own. I say a time period rather than the future because we could see something that's happening in the past, or in a present much different from ours. But of course, I'll be doing my best to...seek the proper channel, as it is."

Ahh. Will something happen to her during the seeing? Like, speaking in voices, being possessed, stuff like that?

"N-no, no." Haruka shakes her head, although she pales somewhat at this. "At least, I shouldn't be. If...If I do, however, appear to be not who I am to you at the moment, during or after the seeing, please..." She pauses to take a deep breath. "Please have Yuma subdue me. She will know what to do."

Right. Okay. That doesn't sound too bad, and you ARE in a Silent Room, with a Culexus, after all. Still...

You call Yuma in, and the Culexus hurriedly steps into the Silent Room. She seems to have expected the worst, by the way she heaved a sigh of relief when she saw you and Haruka talking. "What is it, Warmaster?"

You ask the Culexus about the seeing. It takes her a few moments to frame a reply.

"It shouldn't be dangerous, I think. We tried it for your mission with Kirishima Ruri, and all we got in the mirrors were pictures of spiders and insects scurrying around. Nothing really of note." She looks towards Haruka. "And yeah, if she gets possessed or anything like that, we can shut her down. Either I do it or the Silent Room does it."

[1/2]
>>
>>28101879

"I realize I have given you no reason to trust me, since you know I am capable of betrayal," Haruka addresses you directly. "But I only wish to serve, to be of use before I die. Maybe then I can meet my older sister in hell with a smile."

"Don't speak like that, Haruka-chan." Yuma's helmet offers a terse bark of vox-corrupted static, making the girl giggle.

Pinky mentioned that being around culexus made it hard for her to chat with us - IIRC it's what made us want to get buddy-buddy with Yuma to begin with.

You decide to allow the seeing to take place. From what you've heard, it sounds like a safe thing to do. You're not sure about all that kind of psychic stuff, but since it did allow Haruka to get the identity of the Prophet, well...you'll try anything once. Within reason.

And with that, both Haruka and Yuma begin to prepare her room for the seeing. The bed is pushed to the side, flush against the wall, along with the rest of her things. Clearing the very center of the room, so the energies have one single point to focus on, or something like that. You didn't listen too closely.

The mirrors were indeed brought down from the living quarters, and you had to help Yuma to make sure that each one was positioned just so around the circular tea table also placed on the very center of the room. Each one positioned evenly around and from the table, the reflective sides facing the table's occupants. A third chair was also procured, so that Yuma herself could take part and be able to react as quickly as possible.

Yuma had also insisted that the door to the Silent Room be completely shut for this event. Its antimagic engine will also be deactivated for the duration, to allow Haruka to transform and use her abilities. Despite your misgivings here, Yuma insisted that the controls to start up the Silent Room were built into her suit's system - she only needed to think it and the Silent Room would activate on her command. Should her suit detect her flatlining, it will automatically activate the Silent Room as well.

You make your own preparations as well. The two Golden Weapons in your possession are close at hand, ready to be used in an emergency. You'll also be transforming the moment things start going to shit, so there's that, too.

It's as you help Yuma move the last mirror in place that you hear the faint sound of bells ringing - and you turn to see Haruka turn in place slowly, light forming into solid shapes around her and flickering into reality as pieces of her costume. Her eyes still closed, she clasps her hands in front of her, as if preparing to pray - and a beam of light shines down on her, casting most of her features in shadow. When she opens her eyes, the sounds, light and other sparkles disappear, leaving behind a Magical Girl that's as...well, as pretty as the ones they make anime out of.

"Pretty..." You hear Yuma's vox speakers crackle the word out in painful clarity, and you turn to see the Culexus still frozen there, blatantly and openly staring at Haruka. The seer doesn't seem to notice this, walking briskly towards you, a smile on her face.

"I'm ready, Miss Matsuda. Once you are as well, please make your way towards the table and take a seat. We'll begin momentarily."

Without waiting for your response, Haruka goes and takes a seat on one of the chairs around the table herself. Her hands clasping together once more, her head bowing as her lips move in silent, reverent prayer.

"After you, Warmaster." Yuma gestures towards the table. "...I just hope things go right this time."

As much as I think we need to talk to her about the whole "Pretty..." comment and her general infatuation with The Prisoner, now's not really the time.
Also, it would be the -height- of hypocrisy for us to take a flat-out negative position on the two of them.
At worst, we should give her a warning that this one has pretty much no hope of ever leaving confinement outside an urn.

It might be a bad idea. Infact, it's almost certainly a bad idea.

But Mami is at stake here.

I'm disaspointed that we haven't checked with the rest of our Officio before undertaking such a risky action though.

Getting Team Midori up and running for quick and efficient information sharing is obviously going to need to be a priority.

It'll be great when we can just dial up Ramenbutt or one of her team and see what the latest intel we have is.

Pinky has been after this girl for two years, she has had to live in a silent room just to keep her at bay.
Homuhomu is Pinky's yandere object of obsession. Who was trying to tell us something before we turned our costume off in order to ignore her.

Now we put these two objects of her interest in one room, turn off the protection, and start using magic to see just how many ways and in how many futures this will fuck us over.

Right, nothing could go wrong

Despite yourself, you couldn't help but give Yuma a little ribbing. First insubordination, now fraternization with the enemy? What's next, contraband? Should you check her room for any material prohibited by Officio Law? You narrow your eyes at her, a searching expression on your face.

"What?! That's...no, don't be stupid, Warmaster!" The Culexus hisses sharply, as if unwilling to disturb Haruka's prayers. "Haruka is not the enemy! She's been here for an entire year, and she's never given me cause to be suspicious. In fact, all she's been doing is helping us. Kyuubey can prove it--"

Whoa, okay, okay. Jesus. She doesn't need to be so fucking defensive.

...Still, she's pretty fun, though, you remark, placing one hand on her spiked shoulderpad. Why didn't you hang out with her more?

"Because you were too busy having fun with the Betrayer, Warmaster." Yuma shrugs off your hand, and makes for the table as well. "Let's just get this done, alright?"

...Yeah. Right. You shake your head at this, before joining the two on the table, stepping between the mirrors. As you settle in your seat, however, it's here that you notice a sudden flash of pink whip by the mirror closest to you. You blink at this, before turning towards your two companions. They're not wearing any pink, that's for sure. Where could it have come from...?

"Alright, let's begin." Haruka opens her eyes and pulls her hands apart - revealing her own Soul Gem, a pure clean white housed in brass gilding. This she sets on the center of the table. "Yuma-san, when I say so, can you turn off the lights?" She looks at you as if to explain, and she does. "The light of my Soul Gem will be enough illumination, and will serve to make the visions on the mirror clearer."

"Sure, that's no problem." Yuma turns to look for the light switch. Finding it, she raises a hand towards it. "When you're ready."

ABORT ABORT ABORT
>>
>>28102650
I don't have enough Doom Paul for this.
>>
>>28102650

Haruka takes a deep breath, before holding out one of her hands to you. You blink at it, before taking it with your own.

...Soft. Her hands are soft, frail. Warm. You feel like you could crush her fingers just by squeezing hard enough.

"It's only when we're scared the most that we can be brave," Haruka says, looking into your eyes. You blink again at this. You're not really that scared.

"Oh? That's good, Miss Matsuda." The seer smiles. "Because I am."

She turns towards Yuma. "Now." The Culexus flexes her gloved fingers, and the room lights die with a sharp snap, sending the room into total darkness.

"I invoke the Blessed Lady, The First Knight, The Blood Knight and the Shieldmaiden to protect us as we look into the tides of the Empyrean," You hear Haruka say as her Soul Gem starts to glow brighter, providing just enough light to allow you to see the table, its occupants, and the mirrors around you.

"I beseech the First Knight to protect us with her blade of justice and purity. I pray to the Blood Knight to deliver us from evil upon her steed of fire and hate. I implore the Shieldmaiden..."

It's here that she squeezes your hand. "...to carry my prayers to the Blessed Lady when we need her guidance the most."

...

"This lowly servant asks to be given the right to see." Haruka's grip on your hand is tighter now. "This unworthy servant asks to be given the right to the truth. This pitiful servant begs to be given the true sight, to see through the lies, and to reveal what is asked of her."

It's then - faintly, but clearly - that you hear cackling. Not in your ear, but somewhere inside the room. A horribly familiar cackling, one usually followed with the scraping of metal claws and the scent of burned flesh and bone.

You glance at Yuma and Haruka, but they don't seem to be reacting to the sound. If they're hearing it, they're giving no indication.

It's here that you see another pink blur whip past the mirror just next to Yuma.

How do you react?

It's a vote using the anti-spam system 4chan has. Basically you can't post the same thing twice in 5 minutes. So you get a couple choices. For example

>1 - A
>2 - B
Reply to this post with >1 or >2 and nothing else. Voting ends in 5 minutes.

anti samefagging mechanism.

Basically goes:

>>[post number]
[Choice number here only]

ONLY.

Thing is, it doesn't really work in MGNQ, considering the number of open-ended choices we usually get.
>>
>>28102874
I would infer he's referring to the SQ procedure where the QM lays out options like
1 [text]
2 [text]
etc.
And then you vote by quoting the post and only including the number you want like

=====
>>####
1
=====

And you have 5 minutes to vote.
Idea is that you can't make the exact same post within 5 minutes, so samefagging is mostly ruled out.

>>
>>28102874
After player discussion, the QM makes a post numbering the things the players came up with. The only votes counted are the ones that reply to that post with a single number. Voting time is limited to 5 mins.

This makes samefagging harder by taking advantage of the block on duplicate posts.

Things like rolling, punctuation, >, or anything besides the link and # invalidate the vote.

Things are generally open ended in SQ. This strict voting only happens after discussion on issues that are obviously divisive.

Other than that, I have 5 different proxies availible due to my work, so if someone really wants to samefag it still wont stop him.
>>
>>28102916
>Haruka can't actually see the future if all she's doing is asking Pinky stuff.
Her praying to the Blessed Lady could just be something that she does to help conceptualize and use her power. You shouldn't automatically assume that just because she invokes the Blessed Lady that it's an actual spell calling upon Faust, since that's not how Meguca magic works.

QB can look into her Contract and tell us what her actual powers are.
>>
I remember when I suggested the SQ voting method after a particularly nasty bout of samefagging and shitstorms.

Everyone called it retarded in the thread.

Then it started getting used.

And I regret ever saying anything in the first place.
>>
I feel like we should have stopped her after the first invocation by ticking off the names.
1. The First Knight
Malal's pretty gone. She's not protecting anyone anymore, except in the most abstract of senses.
2. The Blood Knight
Kharn's way up in Siberia being a housewife, she ain't doing shit down here.
3. The Shieldmaiden
Look, if you want me to protect you from something, it's gonna have to be a concrete threat. I can't protect you from some nether "Empyrean" terrors or whatever.
4. The Blessed Lady
While I can't say she doesn't do any helping, I would hesitate to ask for it at any rate. You're just as likely to get "helped" to a chestful of not-heart as what you asked for.

Too late now, though.
>>
>>28102928
In SQ, it works because the players have surprising cohesion after only a few minutes of discussion. Obvious trends form, and it's easy to pick out options from there.
I haven't been in MGNQ long enough to judge whether that's the case here.

>>
>>28102953
Nah, SQvoting usually comes up only after discussion. So basically its the same as this, except after 15 minutes a second lightning vote is held.
>>
>>28102953
That's not how it works at all. Decu would make a post like he always does. Players bitch and argue for a bit. Then Decu makes another post with the main options people have presented all put into a numbered list.

Then you have 5 mins to look at the list and pick the number than corresponds to whatever you were supporting during the discussion.

This is a fair point! But the vote's already in. It's more that in the future, we'll talk about it and see if Decu wants to implement that kind of SUDDEN DEATH MODE for some votes. Frankly I counted all the posts not specifically saying 'ABORT' as votes to not abort, and it's...not a very small margin, with that in mind. I guess if it ends up actually going against the consensus of the masses, you can burn me at the stake, nya~ I've been doing votebitch for like forty threads now, though, so maybe this isn't the first time.

The 'consensus of the thread' tends to be counting whatever's convenient for who's arguing at the time, though, so.

Its clear who the Blessed Lady and Shieldmaiden are, but we should not assume we know who the First Knight and Blood Knight are. For all we know they could be some of the Homufragments.

And more importantly, the fact is that these names are from the Blessed Lady Cult, who clearly have little to no idea who the Blessed Lady is, or how she actually operates. Standard for Cults, really.

I bet the don't even know Pinky's name.

so votes literally split depending on the faction, it could be anywhere from the /d/egenerates pushing lewd shit too PURGE AND FIRE from 40k fags, to law shenanigans to that guys pushing for bad end railroad, like whats been happening this thread.
it literally is a horde of different people pulling for different agendas.

Actually, no. The cult that Wendy met with knows very much that the Blessed Lady is an eldritch abomination of a goddess who demands blood and may grant extended existence after Witching out if a Meguca is useful, like Wendy.
>>
>>28103018

>>
>>28103046
i'm saying MGNQ is literally micro /tg/ in its entirety, including writefags and drawfags, the shadowrunners bracing for 4th impact, as well as serious derailment, which includes the whole thing with midori.
honestly its part of the reason why this quest is actually so good.
>>
>>28103046
There are "in-character choices" to be made here?
>>
>>28103063
Decu usually does a small decent job of forging the various responses into a consistent character.
>>
>>28103061
Well, the fact that Pinky's here and Haruka's ranting about the exact same things - complete with SQUEEZING OUR HAND WHEN SHE MENTIONS THE SHIELDMAIDEN - means that we'd have to be literally a drooling retard to not make a connection here.
>>
>>28103046
>So what you're saying is, metagaming chucklefucks one and all, none of who would know an in-character choice if it hit them in the face.
Pretty sure that's not what he meant at all.
People throw meta-game knowledge around constantly, but generally its only the in-character input that actually makes it into Decu's decisions.

Also, sidenote,
[x]FLESH OF FALLEN ANGELS posters = Blessed Lady Cultists now?
>>
>>28103083
Sure, but which of these would be obviously more IC than the other exactly? You could make reasonable explanations/motivations for Chiaki doing either.
>>
>>28103084

TL:DR version:
We are homura, post PPMM, and we may actually still be canon to the after the 3rd movie becauser nothing contradicts this. in this timeline we were dumped into a universe where every type of show may have converged at some point with madoka and the 40k universe being the prominent part, something has made madoka going batfuck insane and witch out, and now she lives in our shield. we have amnesia because witch madoka is an asshole. this has happened a few times for different reasons. in this quest the whole universe basically seems to be slowly collapsing on itself and its essentially our job to fix it when possible, in addition nearly all the warping of reality is due to both us and witch madokami being here.from there a bunch of little things happened like allies and different missions, but thats the basic outlook of the quest.

You grit your teeth in frustration as the cacklings true and clear in the room once more. God dammit, Pinky. Not now. Not here. You're just trying to find the person she warned you about, for fuck's sake.

+ I heard it too. + You hear Yuma's voice ring in your head. + This never happened before. +

You growl at this, shaking your head. Haruka is still focusing, still praying, but she's whispering now, her eyes squeezed shut. It's here that you pulse a thought towards Yuma. + Get ready to shut this entire thing down the moment I say so. +

The Culexus nods here, and holds out a gloved hand towards you. You take it with your one remaining hand, your fingers curling around her gloved, padded own.

"...and we ask this, in your name, the Blessed Lady Who Destroyed Despair And Brought Salvation To Us All." Haruka's voice rises both in strength and volume. "I, Amane Haruke, your ever faithful servant, ask that what we desire be revealed to us!"

The Soul Gem at the very center of the table - Haruka's - begins to grow bright, impossibly bright that it's almost blinding, enough that you have to close your eyes and turn away. Beside you, you hear clicking inside Yuma's helmet - most probably the visor trying to dampen the glare.

...It's bright enough that the light is even penetrating your eyelids, turning the comforting darkness there into a painful white.

You try to call out to Haruka here, to even Yuma - but suddenly you can't hear yourself. As if the light itself had taken a completely different form, filling the entire room not only with illumination but also choking everything else in it. You scream for her again, and this time the Culexus' hand squeezes yours. As if trying to comfort you, somehow.

And then, as suddenly as it started - the light immediately disappears, leaving everything in darkness once more.

"Warmaster?" You hear Yuma's vox-ruined voice call out for you, and you open your eyes to see the Culexus, your face reflecting off her cracked visor. "It's fine now. She did it." Frank relief in her voice. "The seeing's a success."

You turn towards Haruka, and you see the girl still, motionless, frozen in time. Her eyes wide open - but where bright blue eyes should be, there is only the white light glowing from her own Soul Gem. The bauble itself floating off of the table, hovering in front of the frozen girl.

And the mirrors are...well. The mirrors are showing something.

Namely, a silhouette of someone with long black hair, long enough to reach down to the back of her thighs. Her eyes a bright, startling blue, staring at you with something resembling hate. ...No, not hate, but disgust. Loathing.

Before you can react, however, the silhouette disappears - and the mirrors begin to display scenes, connected together with blurry smears.

Mikuni Oriko, having tea all by herself, a black armband around her upper arm. She is visibly trying not to cry, but fails - ending up sobbing into both her hands, her body bent over double in her grief. Her teacup rolls off of the table and drops to the floor, where it shatters into a thousand pieces.

Lucius and her squad, kneeling in front of a confused Oriko with the golden staff in her hands. The swordswoman you fought in the stadium standing up, smiling awkwardly, before placing her hand on her chest, above her heart. Promising to protect Oriko until the day the Blessed Lady takes her.

Oriko smiling at her reflection as she pins her long hair into an elegant coiffure , her platinum-blonde hair a stark offset from her ice-blue kimono. The staff leaning against the wall beside her, while a host of Magical Girls continue to attend her like some sort of princess.

"You can ask Haruka-san to try and show you something specific about what she's seeing now, Warmaster." Yuma helpfully volunteers. "I know it's a bit weird and creepy, but this is how it usually is."

What do you ask Haruka to show?

While the black hair description throws it off, the hair length and eye color matches Ahriman. The black hair may be just because the figure is silhouetted.

It's Ahriman.

>"The Third Warmaster?" Kyuubey echoes. "Hrn. Well. I must admit that I've little to no intel about her. I was going to ask you if you knew her personally, or if Malal here had any sources regarding her." The Incubator's chair swivels around, once more, and a small electronic beep precedes the multiple screens of Kyuubey's rig lighting up in unison to show one particularly-grainy photo of a fair-skinned young woman with long, platinum-blonde hair, blue eyes, and a rather mirthless smirk on her face. She is wearing what appears to be a rather ornate kimono the color of arctic ice, with various tasteful bits of soft amber and yellow here and there. She is grasping what looks to be a large, grand, golden staff of some sort, topped with a snake's head with its fangs bared to strike.

I think theres a good chance that when we time-travel we transpose ourselves over the Homura of the world we enter, which gets wierder/more strained the further we travel from our base timeline. For all we know, Chiaki Matsuda actually is this world's Homu, like how Kanade is this world's Kaname Madoka.

The ramifications of the strain of transposition and getting further from our original timeline would make a lot of sense as to how Homu has gotten fucked up to the point where she is at now, as an added complication to all the craziness with Madoka/Faust.

I don't think we lost our memory. I think we blocked it out and got over losing Malal.

That's not speculation, it's fact. The original owner haunts the weapon.

Here comes the speculation. Even if the girl who owns it is still the original owner or still alive. The Deagle is haunted by a version of Murderface for example, GoreFather/Child is probably haunted by a version of Kharn when she was warmaster.. This theory essentially explains why golden weapon users either become a whole lot better at what they do, or go batshit insane. Girls who are especially unhinged go more crazy because they are basically being egged on by them self. A crazy person telling a crazy person to do crazy shit.

Well, I guess it is Ahriman calling the shots from that Staff.

We can only interact with Yuu from the Gauntlets, Gorefather and Gorechild just feels "playful" in the Blood Knight sense while Murasama is pure "Blood For the Blood God!" murderous intent.

I have no idea with the D Eagle, except that part near the beginning where Chiaki nearly pulled the trigger on Sayaka. So your "Crazy Feedback Loop" idea holds water.
>>
>>28103551

We know for a fact that, once killed, the owner of a golden weapon will find their souls being contained within the weapon itself. Yuu and Kirika are proof of this.

There's no clear indication of what happens if the owners are still alive, though. When Chiaki got amnesia in Siberia and touched the DEagle, she heard herself rambling about a lot of nonsense words. The corruption linked to the weapons probably has something to do with the soul-link, but there may not be a full-on transfer until the owner's death.

>>28103612
That's one way to look at it.

Murasama is the same. Khirika went batshit insane when she had her weapon. I also think weapons fundamentally change when the owner dies. To instead of just being haunted by a version of the girl, the version and the girls soul fuse and become a super saturated version.

One thing I'd like to know is if the soul gets trapped in the Golden Weapon ONLY if the soul belonged to a Meguca and not a mundane person, or if the Weapons can only hold one soul at a time.

The Gauntlets hold Yuu, but Kilgore was using them when we killed him.

Nope, we might need to work with her to separate Oriko from the staff. They were girlfriends after all, maybe Kirika would want to save her from Ahrimans corruption more than she wants us dead.

Haruka doesn't respond to your requests - it doesn't look like she's in any state to chat, anyway - but it looks like she's responding through what you're seeing in the mirrors. Each one panning out and focusing on each of the magical girls seen with Oriko. Showing their weapons, their costumes in full, and what appears to be them sparring in a bright, green open field. Somewhere...somewhere in the mountains, it looks like. An expensive-looking vacation house in the mountains.

It's here that you see one particular Magical Girl sitting away from the main group. She's wearing what looks like a modified version of the Culexus suit - one that's mainly all crimson instead of the usual black. Her helmet is also different - instead of a skull, it's a demon's fanged, grinning face. She's honing a rather brutal-looking combat knife on a whetstone, with slow relaxed strokes - a stark contrast as to how she seems tense, wary almost. Looking around every now and then, as if trying to find something, or someone, watching her.

Suddenly, she stands up, slipping her combat knife into its sheath lashed to her boot and leaving behind the whetstone. She makes to approach Oriko, but she's stopped by one of the many girls crowding around their Prophet. You hear her voice - digitized like Yuma's, but rougher, more masculine. "We're being watched. I can feel it." Her words ending in a snarl, like that of a cornered predator.

You watch as Oriko stands up, regal in her kimono, the staff flying towards her outstretched hand. It's here that she walks forward, still surrounded by her retinue, and talks with the crimson Culexus in soothing tones. You can't hear what they're talking about - either their voices are too faint or muffled to understand - but you suddenly realize the answer when Oriko's smile turns cold as she turns to look at you. Her eyes flashing with pure, unflinching hatred.

We did, in Siberia.

Kirika was blatantly taunting us.

I wonder if we can convince Kirika to help us out with Oriko? Use her help to convince Oriko to stop being Ahriman's bitch.

What I really want to know is why Ahriman wanted Mami so badly. The first time the members of the 3rd were after Mami, when Kharn went over to see Ahri she demanded Mami (though that was ostensibly a ploy to bathe the officio in MG blood) and now she's after Mami's head.

What's this girl's Mami obsession? (Assuming it's not just Haruka leading us up the garden path)
>>
>>28103766
We could ask her what to do about Oriko. If she's too far gone, we punch answers out of her.
>>
>>28103805

Staring at you, as if she could see you from the scrying mirror she's being projected onto.

That's...that's not possible, right?

"...No, no, that's impossible." Yuma says this for you, once more sounding like she's reading your mind. "They're not supposed to see us. This isn't a two-way thing, this is--"

The Culexus' words die in her vox-speakers as the both of you watch Ahriman aim the golden hequin staff - and from its tip bursts what appears to be a...a thing made out of pure hate and fire. Shrieking soundlessly from a beaked mouth, it spreads its wings and explodes towards you. Careening towards the mirror with impossible speed, as if trying to build up enough to smash right through and attack.

How do you react?

You think Oriko and Ahriman haven't predicted that Murderface would shoot the mirror? They're probably counting on a Murderface reaction, and that's why it's important to do a Chiaki Matsuda reaction, by not shooting what is likely Haruka.

Okay guys, once we get the location, they probably will be getting ready to leave.

A deserted parking garage, three stories below ground. Alex shook her head. Something felt wrong, and she'd told her comrades as much over and over. She took a deep breath of the stale air, shifting her weight onto a different foot as she huddled behind some white sedan. The silence was deafening. Every muscle in her body ached to get up and -do something-. But, she was a professional. She did her job, and she did it with precision and efficiency. Her fingers tightened around the grip of her pistol. They itched for action.

Her earpiece crackled to life, nearly making her jump straight out of cover.

"Any signs of movement, Alex?"

"Negative, Kay," she whispered in response. "Nothing yet."

"Understood. Remain on standby."

Alex glanced at the figure huddled beside her. The other girl was breathing a bit too heavily for comfort, and Alex could feel her shaking through the car. There were seven of them; that one being Maggie, if she remembered right. The newest of the batch. Short orange hair that barely made it past her ears, topped off with a big yellow bow. Her costume had always weirded Alex out. It looked like someone had thrown some short-sleaved officer's jacket over a white one-piece swimsuit and called it a day. Her fighting style was even more half-assed - she just hucked exploding cannon balls at things. Alex couldn't help but admire the simplicity of it.

Then there was Kay - the intrepid leader. Tall, blonde-haired, blue-eyed with a pure white maid outfit. Alex had always been surprised that she hadn't ended up as a Warmaster or even a rank leader somewhere. She used some giant space cannon like none of them had ever seen before. Kay always gave them pills whenever one of them accidentally ended up too close to the beam. Radiation poisoning or something. Apparently even magical girls had to worry about that.

Since it already has speakers in it, does it incorporate video recording?

The prognostications revealed many many magical girls and their uniforms are unique to each.

We can get our Spy and analysis staff to begin checking on them and seeing where they've been or left. We find a single one, we find the lot.

>>28104098
1. Shutting down the seeing means turning on the Silent Room, right?

2. Our information on Culexus suit manufacture is old; do any other Officio's now produce their own line of Culexus suits?

3. What do the other Incubators think of the 3rd, now that he's concentrating solely on Human monetary profits? Is he considered crazier than QB?
>>
Alex scratched at her messy black hair. The gasmask perched on top of her head kept making her sweat and itch too much. They'd all been given them prior to the mission. Alex figured they looked spooky as hell when they switched the thermal imaging on. Big, glowing red eyes. Anyone with any sense left would shit themselves as the sight of their squad. It was just too bad that Kay said they were after someone even scarier.

She looked over her shoulder, peering at another magical girl brandishing what looked like a raygun from the fifties three rows down. The other girl flashed a toothy grin and a thumbs up, which Alex answered with a smirk and a nod. How she had ended up on point with the new girl was a mystery. Sure, they had a Callidus hiding top-side watching the security cameras, as if that was somehow reassuring. Jiang - some Chinese girl with her hair in those weird buns and a stupid black and yellow jester hat. Alex was ninety percent sure that wasn't even her real name. The rest of them were further into the garage, spread out behind cars and pillars.

"Kay," the radio started up. Jiang. "I- I think I see someone on camera three. She's-" The Callidus paused. "She's got a cane? I think? And she's- she's waving at m-"

A sickeningly crunched sounded from the Callidus' end. Alex could make out the sound of too many bones snapping as something hit her. Hard. Something made a squelching thump - probably the girl's body hitting the ground.

"KAY!" The Callidus screamed. A serious of wet coughs sputtered through, sending static over the radio.

"KAY! THERE'S-" Another series of coughs, along with a different sound in the background. It sounded like something metal slowly being dragged over concrete.

"Oh god, no. OH PLEASE, NO!" The girl pleaded. "KAY, THERE'S A SECOND ONE! I REPEAT TWO TARG-"

The grinding sound ceased for a brief moment, before a high-pitched scream was cut short.

Then silence.

Alex's leg was shaking. In the blink of an eye, their squad was down to six. The mission had barely even started. Jiang was supposed to disappear as soon as she spotted the target, but... Two. No one had said there would be two targets. Just the crazy doctor. A god damn CRIPPLE! The black-haired girl ran that horrid grinding sound through her mind over and over. It was heavy, whatever it was. A hammer maybe? A sledge hammer? That had to be it. But there was no way in hell the crippled doctor could carry something like that.

The whole squad was silent. Not a single peep out of any of them. She needed to hear something, anything.

"Kay?" Alex tried. "Orders?"

I took a moment for the squad leader to respond. "Check your equipment," she said. She sounded shaken - unlike the usual calm and cool Alex had come to know and rely on. "Stay- Stay calm, everyone. There are still six of us and two of them. We can..." Her voice trailed off for a moment before she seemed to remember other people were listening. "We can handle this."

She didn't sound so sure.

So Alex waited. Time seemed to stretch on and on, with only a stray cough here and there breaking the silence. Maggie grew more anxious with every minute. Alex almost worried that her breathing would give away their position. She checked her watch. It was nearing one in the morning. It had been over ten minutes since Jiang went dark without the slightest sign of the target. TargetS, Alex mentally corrected herself.

She couldn't help but imagine what could be taking them. Maybe they'd left? They figured out that it was a trap and got the hell out of Dodge. Seemed reasonable enough. Alex was about to volunteer to go check when something thumped against the car beside her – Maggie.

[3/13]
>>
The younger girl was breathing even more heavily than usual. She coughed and sputtered before her body went limp, falling over onto the ground. Maggie seized, her hands grasping at her throat as foam began to bubble up from her mouth.

"Shit!" Alex muttered. "MASKS!" She screamed, pulling her own gas mask down. "EVERYONE, MASKS!"

Then she heard it. That awful grinding, speeding up and growing louder.

A delicate tinkling sounded against the ground behind her as a cluster of objects scattered among the cars and rolled to the ground. A series of pops echoed through the garage as dense, pale green smoke billowed outward.

"SMOKE," someone called out.

The grinding sound sped up as it rushed Alex's position, joined by a howling, screaming fury. She managed to flick on the thermal imaging just in time to see an orange blur leap straight over the car she had been using for cover. The target screeched with rage as it charged one of Alex's squadmates. The thermal vision made the girl's head look like little more than a pumpkin as it exploded into dozens of orange flecks that splattered over the cars.

Alex fired until the magazine ran out. It was hard to miss the roaring monstrosity as it made a bloody mess of her squad. Yet, nothing seemed to stop it. The orange mass of heat jumped over another car, bringing down her hammer on another girl in an overhead strike. It missed her head entirely - instead separating her left shoulder from the rest of her body.

Her name was Brooks. It was Brooks, Alex was sure of it. She tried to get up again, despite missing a full quarter of her body. She was rewarded for her tenacity with another savage blow to the sternum, shattering it and everything behind it. The hostile girl slammed her hammer into Brooks' torso again and again until her torso was little more than a pulpy mess of tissue and bone fragments.

Alex's breath caught in her throat as the girl turned to look her straight in the eye.

The creature threw her head back in a high-pitched, manic cackle before disappearing behind a car. Alex took a deep breath and ducked back into cover, taking the opportunity to reload. She was panting. Jiang, Maggie, Brooks... who else? There was a fourth. It was Maxine, wasn't it?

"Kay," Alex whispered. "Kay, are you there?"

After a moment's hesitation, the squad leader responded. "Alex? Is that you?"

"I'm here. Who else is still up?"

"Just us and- and Emily I think-"

"I am sorry to say," a third voice cut in, "zat fraulein Emily is no lonker vis us. You have mein deepest condolences. Vile I am sure zat you all have had a great deal of fun today, I am afraid zat ve vill have to be wrapping zis test up. I sank you for all of ze vunderful data zat you have provided for me tonight."

Alex's head snapped up as she heard a bang echo through the garage. She could hear the grinding again - distant and growing quieter. Holding her breath, she peered over the hood of the car and disengaged the thermal vision on her mask.

Nothing.

There was no sign of movement in every direction. Only neat rows of blood-splattered vehicles and concrete pillars. She slid back down, holding her knees close to her chest. Her eyes wandered to Maggie's motionless form lying beside her. Every now and again the girl's body would spasm as a bubble rose from her throat. She didn't sign up for this. She didn't sign up for any of it.

They were supposed to be hunting a cripple! A Venenum, even! Hardly any combat capabilities! It should have been like fish in a barrel for a squad of six Vindicares and a Callidus. Now there were two left - soon to be one if the other girl was going after Kay.

New time limit is great, IF you're not burning yourself out. Slow decu is better than dead decu.
>>
Alex rocked back and forth, hugging her knees as tears welled up in her eyes. She had to make up her mind. Cut her losses and run or stay and risk being turned into a human piñata. Kay was still somewhere in the parking garage. Probably. Assuming that thing with the sledge hammer hadn't already found her. Whatever it was, nobody could call it human any more.

The black-haired girl slipped a hand into her pocket and pulled out a quarter. Heads - she'd play the hero and go after Kay. Tails - she'd run. She flicked it up and watched it tumble in the air. It barely left her hand when she heard the scream. By the time it hit the ground, Alex was already on her feet.

She sprinted out of that garage like a bat out of hell. It was a primal, instinct-driven flight born from man's earliest days being chased by predators. Up and up she went, clearing each floor in a matter of seconds. She had to survive, she told herself. The sound of heavy, ragged breaths reached her ears. She couldn't tell if something was chasing her or if they were her own. Either way, it didn't matter. She smiled as she caught sight of the entrance barricades, giving her a final burst of speed.

Then something pricked her hip.

Her legs seemed to simply cease functioning as she tumbled into the rear bumper of a van while her gun skidded underneath it. The mask was torn off of her crying face while her elbows and knees scraped along the ground. Alex groaned, forcing herself into a sitting position. Her eyes widened as she yanked a dart out of her side. Her legs refused to work, not budging an inch as she tried to get herself up. She was paralysed.

It was then that she heard it. It wasn't the grinding of metal, nor the banshee screaming of the girl who had massacred her squad. Only a rhythmic thumping with a couple of seconds between each one.

Alex panicked, grasping at the van desperately trying to pull herself upright. She had barely gotten onto her knees when something hard and thin collided with her side, throwing her onto her back.

"I vould ASK," came a voice, "zat ze test subjects NOT LEAVE ZE TESTINK AREA."

Doctor Emma Strauss stepped up beside the fallen girl, then placed dug a knee into Alex's gut, putting her weight on her cane. She observed the test subject from behind her circular glasses for a few moments, grinning through wickedly pointed teeth. The doctor adjusted her top hat as she leaned in closer to her captive.

"Vhat is your name, fraulein?" She asked. It sounded so sincere, so innocent.

The other girl was breathing heavily, panic-stricken and sobbing. Strauss couldn't even tell if her words were reaching the wretch.

"VHAT IS YOUR NAME?" She yelled, seizing the girl by the throat.

"A-A-A," the girl swallowed hard, forcing back her tears, "Alex. A-Alex Madison."

"Alex?" The doctor suddenly shifted back to her more friendly demeanour as she relinquished her grip. "Zat is short for Alexandra, ja?"

Alex nodded quickly.

"Such a pretty name," Strauss remarked. "Und who are you vorkink for, Alex?"

"N-n-n-no one," Alex stammered, trying to speak between her sobbing. "We-we're b-b-bou-bounty hu-hunters."

The doctor chuckled to herself. "I sink zat vas a very poor life decision, hm? Goink after ze Sirteents' bounty, ja?"

The girl nodded.

"Und how much is DOCTOR EMMA STRAUSS wors zese days?" The doctor asked, adding emphasis to her full name. "No less zan-"

"Te-ten thousand e-each," Alex answered, "and e-enough grief seeds to r-re-retire."

"Ten sousand?" Strauss repeated the number incredulously. "TEN SOUSAND?! I am INSULTED! Zose dummkopfs could barely tell hydrogen cyanide from hydrogen peroxide visout me!"

The doctor clicked her tongue as she reached into her cape and produced a battered old clipboard. Alex watched as she spent a minute filling in details with a pen attached with a string. After a moment, Strauss turned to her captive once more.

"Now," Strauss started, tapping the pen on the clipboard, "on a scale of vun to ten, how afraid vould you say you are? Vun beink how you feel playink vis a little puppy or kätzchen, ten beink permanently catatonic."

"I- I don't-"

"HOW AFRAID ARE YOU?!"

"I- I don't know!" Alex wailed, fresh tears streaming down the sides of her face. "A-a-an eight? I don't know! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!"

The doctor made a muffled grunt of acknowledgement as she tried to stifle her laughter. "Good, good. You are beink very brave, Fraulein Madison. Ve must all make sacrifices for ze furzering of science."

After another few moments of notes, the horrid sound of metal grinding against concrete picked up again. It was far slower this time, growing louder and closer. For the first time, Alex got clear view of the beast of a magical girl that had decimated her squad.

She was short - no more than five feet tall at most. Her hair was long, straight and coloured a dark green. It seemed as thought she was wearing nothing more than what was once a white sundress, now soaked with blood and perforated with more than a dozen bullet holes. Alex could smell the sheer volume of blood even from where she was lying. The girl's face was obscured by a gasmask of the exact same make as Alex's own, and what she had thought was a sledge hammer turned out to be little more than a pipe welded to a thick, solid wedge of steel. Fresh blood seemed to constantly trickle down from her hands - one of them clutched tightly around the back of Kay's collar, dragging her limp body along the ground.

"Kay!" Alex screamed.

"Ah! Milica!" Strauss clapped, pulling herself up. "Just in time! And vun captive unconscious, as ordered! Toll!"

[8/13]
>>
The doctor crouched down in front of the unconscious squad leader, lifting the blonde's chin to inspect her. She carried on for some time, checking the body for injury, before finally standing back up and giving Milica a pat on the shoulder.

"Very gut, very gut!" She exclaimed, marking several things down on her clipboard. "Vun unharmed, vun unconscious... Somevhat beaten up, but in perfect condition. Subject shows exemplary control over her actions und handles each objective vis ease. Vell! It seems to me zat ze first field test of ze Mark V vas a complete success, vouldn't you say Milica? How are you feelink?"

Milica's head twitched unnaturally as she tried to respond. "G-g-g-got a bi-b-bit of a he-head ache, D-Doc."

"To be expected, I suppose," Strauss muttered, jotting it down. "Did you remember to brink me vhat I asked for, Milica?"

"O-oh y-yeah!" The blood-soaked magical girl promptly dropped both her weapon and the squad leader's body before pulling out a handful of soulgems. "I a-almost f-f-forgot!"

"Oooh, you are just a darlink!" The doctor squealed, taking the gems for herself. "I could not ask for a better subject! Ve vill go far, you und I! Now take off zat mask, you look silly."

"I th-thought it made me lo-look s-scary..."

"Oh ja, so s-s-spooky vis your speech impediment," Strauss muttered. "Let's see... eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf! Perfect! All accounted for! Now vhat do you sink ve should do vis all zese soulgems, hm?" The doctor's eyes flashed back toward Alex - who was trying desperately to reach her gun under the van. "Anysing you vould like to do, Milica?"

"I- I thi-think I- I w-want-," she stammered, her head jerking and rolling around on her shoulders, "I w-w-want t-to SMASH 'EM UP!"

Alex's head snapped up at the sound of Milica roaring. "Wha- NO!"

[9/13]
>>
"Now do you remember vich is vich, Milica?" Strauss asked in an almost motherly tone.

The girl pulled the gasmask from her face, stared down at the assortment of gems, and blinked. Her brow crinkled as she thought, finally mumbling a muted, "N-no..."

Strauss sighed and touched her fingertips to her forehead. "Milica, Milica, Milica... Vhat vill I ever do vis you?"

"I-I'm s-s-suh-sorry, Doctor..."

Strauss let out a long, deep breath before laughing and tousseling the girl's hair. "Oh vhat ze hell! I can't stay mad at you vis results like zis! Go on, have fun. I need to go speak vis Fraulein Jiang."

"Th-thanks, D-Doc!"

As the doctor slowly hobbled off, Milica crouched down to look straight into Alex's tear-filled eyes. As she did, she wiped a few messy strands of hair out of her vision, smearing her face red with fresh blood.

"L-le-let's ha-have some FUN."

The heavy steel door of the security room slammed shut behind Strauss as she stepped in. In the middle of the room, a girl with a black and yellow jester hat idly spun about in a swivel chair, humming some tune to herself. A sledge hammer and a dead, badly beaten security guard rested on the ground off to one side of the room. The Callidus hopped off of her seat and walked toward the doctor, dizzy and wobbling.

"Welcome back, Doctor," Jiang greeted. "I trust everything went well?"

"Stupendously so!" Strauss replied, clasping her hands together excitedly. "I do not sink I have ever had a first field test go so vell! Of course, zere are still some minor adjustments to be made, but zat is to be expected."

"Then our work today is concluded?"

"It pains me to say zat it is," the doctor said with no small amount of sorrow in her voice. "It vas a pleasure vorking vis you, Fraulein Jiang. I vill send a full report to your Officio in ze mornink, alonk vis payment for your services, of course."

"The pleasure was all mine, doctor," the Callidus responded, bowing her head. "Our incubator wishes me to pass on that he is looking forward to our future business arrangements."

"Of course!" Strauss laughed. "Und tell your varmaster-"

"Spymaster, doctor."

"Ja..." Strauss narrowed her eyes and peered at the Callidus over her glasses. "Spymaster... In any case, ze offer for tea is alvays open."

"I will pass on the message, but you must understand," Jiang shifted uncomfortably under the doctor's gaze, "she is rather... picky about the company she keeps."

"As alvays," Strauss muttered, sighing. "Zat kinder needs to lighten up, I sink."

"Most people would say the exact opposite," the Chinese girl giggled.

The doctor smiled, flashing her jagged shark-like teeth. "I am not most people."

>>
As if on cue, there came a light knock at the door. A moment later, Milica's head poked through the opening before she slowly stepped into the room, still dragging her maul along the ground. The girl clutched at her stomach with a bloody hand as she stumbled in, groaning faintly.

"H-Hey, D-D-Doc," Milica mumbled, trying to hold her lips together between words, as though she were about to be sick. "A-a-and Miss J-Ji-Jiang."

Strauss blinked and tilted her head. "Vhat's wronk?"

"I- I, u-um," the bloody girl stammered, nearly whispering, "I a-ate one..."

The doctor let out and exasperated sigh as she began to rummage around under her cape. "Vhat have we talked about?" She asked, in the same parental voice that she seemed to reserve for Milica alone.

"D-d-don't e-eat so-souls..."

"Und vhat did you do?"

"I tho-thought it wo-wo-would look s-scary..."

Strauss shook her head and pulled out a vial of clear liquid. "Next time, sink about how scary you vill look srowing up in ze garbage can, hm?"

Milica nodded glumly and took the vial, then sauntered over to the trash bin in the corner of the room. Strauss couldn't help but smile at the bloodied girl. She didn't seem stupid, just a bit on the slow side. The doctor winced slightly as she began to feel something resembling maternal feelings toward Milica.

"Kids," she muttered, chuckling softly.

Jiang glanced around the room before stepping over to the numerous monitors that lined one of the walls. Alex was huddled over the broken body of her late squad leader, sobbing. Her body was visibly shaking even from the security camera's blurry video feed. The Callidus sighed and shook her head.

"They were good girls," she remarked, "if not the brightest. A bit too desperate to get out of the magical girl game, if you ask me."

"As ze stupid often are," Strauss added.

Jiang nodded, then stretched out her hand toward the doctor. "I suppose this is as good a time as any for us to part ways, Doctor. It has been a pleasure."

"Likevise," the doctor replied, shaking the Callidus' hand. "I hope zat ve vill be able to vork togezer again some time-"

The loud crack of a gunshot echoed through the building. Jiang's gaze snapped back to the video feed, where Alex's body lay still beside Kay's. Strauss remained nonplussed, only flashing one final, toothy grin.

"Good help is so hard to find zese days."

Lanehen, a small town in the French Ardennes
22:00, 10th of May, 1940

It was already dark. Claire and her mother absentmindedly took stock for the third time that night, always throwing furtive glances outside. That afternoon, the town's radio had buzzed to life, and a disembodied voice, fuzzy and emotionless, had reported the latest news. Germany had seized Luxembourg and was massing along the French and Belgian borders.

A bell clinked softly as the door opened. Claire brushed her orange-red hair out of her eyes as she looked up from the drab clothes she was folding. Her father started muttering as he shambled, exhausted, toward the back room. “They just want to wait and see. Don't think an army will bother occupying an isolated farming village. Even though we're so close to the Belgian border.” The resigned tone in his voice grew harder. “Sure, they were fine in the last war, but who can say it will be the same? None of them know what those Germans are like.” Her father had spent his childhood in southern Belgium during the Great War, and most of his family had ended up in forced labor.

“The only protests were me and that damned girl from the new boarding house. Calling me a coward... she has no business even being here.” It would normally be an odd thing to say, but everyone in town agreed that the boarding house was the height of peculiarity. One day a group of young women had arrived and purchased a run-down complex on the edge of the forest, announcing it as a “home for destitute and abandoned girls”. It was a puzzling business model in a town with no such girls, and nobody quite believed it was the whole story.

Yet stranger was their demeanor. It was expected for such women to be quiet and tragic. But the girls Claire had encountered weren't just that- they seemed driven, and had an almost military air. And her father said that the girl at the meeting, she thought her name was Aveline, had proposed using Lanehen's remoteness as a strategic advantage, and harassing the invading army. What kind of orphan matron advocates guerilla warfare?

But in the end, both Aveline's rash suggestion and her father's paranoia had fallen on deaf ears. Saying something about being ready to flee town with only the clothes on their backs, her father started to drink, and Claire set off upstairs to bed.

Thoughts swirled around her head as she tried to sleep. She loved her family and the town, and didn't want them to get caught up in the war. But part of her longed for excitement. Excitement was so rare for the daughter of a tailor in the middle of nowhere, and her 16 years of life had been sorely lacking in drama and adventure. The town didn't even have any interesting boys her age, just some boring farmers and a smelly stable-boy. Eventually her mind wandered back to the war. In a way, she thought that Aveline girl was right- her father was acting like a coward. How could he think about abandoning the town to save themselves?

---

At some point she must have drifted off to sleep, because her mother was violently shaking her awake, clearly panicked. “Th-The Germans are here already! They're rounding up all the girls in town!” Her mother dashed to the dresser and grabbed a wad of clothes, and started fumbling trying to dress Claire as she stood up. She grabbed the clothes and pushed her mother away, who gave her a last panicked glance before dashing out of the room.

There was screaming outside. Walking with trepidation over to the window. The dim moonlight illuminated the street. A soldier carried the screaming 11-year old neighbor girl over his shoulder, as two more threatened her parents with rifles. All three soldiers had large three-pronged spears strapped to their backs. Tridents? Why would they be using tridents?

Some feet away from them was a man in a long black coat, an officer. He was gripping the collar of the mayor, and holding a pistol in his face. His extended arm had two armbands: she recognized the top one with a swastika, but couldn't make out the other. As she started to pull herself away from the window, the mayor slowly raised his arm and pointed at her house.

The officer's eyes followed. He saw her, standing in the window. For a brief second, his pale blue eyes were locked with her own. He barked an order, and Claire ripped away from the window.

As she reached the first floor, the front door was kicked in. The bell made a harsh sound as it hit the floor. As everyone started yelling, Claire ran to the back room. She heard the beginning of a struggle as she undid the back door's bolt and escaped.

When she was barely ten feet away, a gunshot rang out. She stopped mid-stride. A heartbeat later, the yelling and shrieking started again, and Claire raced away even faster than before. The second gunshot made her blood run cold, but she didn't stop running.

---

She must have ran in a circle, as some time later she was back near the town proper. Near the main square. Panting heavily, she slumped down to the ground, resting against a tree behind the town hall. If only they had known what would happen, mere hours after their meeting. Why were the Germans already here?

It was somehow quieter here. There were the occasional shouts, in both French and German, and the high-pitched crying of a young child in the distance. But the only thing she heard was the steady, constant drone of the crickets.

“Are you alright, Claire Roux?” She jolted back into focus as the words appeared in her head. Somehow, she knew to look up to the branches of the tall oak tree. There was a cat. No, not a cat. A small, four-legged creature, solid white with indistinct features and large red eyes. It wore a red scarf that waved in the wind. Funny, there was no wind tonight.

As it jumped down to the ground in front of her, its scarf shimmered, but the cloth's movements looked as though the creature was standing still in the wind, and not falling down. Light didn't seem to work with the creature properly; it was well-lit despite the darkness.

“There is much you should know, but neither of us has time. I apologize for what I am about to do to your mind.” Information started to flood into her head as the creature, the incubator, kept speaking.

“Your parents are both dead. When the Thirteenth's forces here have captured all of the magical girls, they will cover this up by silencing the entire town.” She started crying for her parents, and for everyone else. She saw what the incubator had seen, and knew he spoke the truth. She knew what he was about to offer her and what it would mean. She herself also knew that she would accept it.

“I can grant you a single wish.” He spoke as a formality. “I offer you wealth, power, fame, and revenge. In return, you will fight as a magical girl. Will you accept the contract, Claire Roux?”

She already had what she had wished for. She could flee alone, as her grandmother had fled Belgium with her father. Or she could take this chance that fate had given her and fight. Tears still rolling down her face, she steeled herself and nodded.

“With what wish will your soul gem shine brightly?” The incubator tensed, and its large ears grew larger still and extended toward her. The scarf was silently flapping as though it was in a hurricane.

(5/10)
>>
>>28104382
She spoke her wish. It wasn't very ambitious, but she was certain she could never regret it.

The world stood still. The crickets stopped their calling as if out of respect for the scene before them. A blinding light shone out of her as the incubator's arms lunged forward into her chest and reverently extracted her crimson soul gem.

Her dress and muddy smock glittered with red lights as they vanished out of existence, replaced by a dark red dress shirt that ended with white frills, covering a pair of skin-tight red shorts. Small ruby epaulets with silver frames and white silk tassels settled on her shoulders. A slender scabbard appeared on a strap at her waist, and an elegant rapier within it. Her soul gem floated to her collar and became a broach. As the shimmering finally died down, a silver chain extended from her right epaulet and hooked itself into the broach.

As the transformation completed, she looked down at her new outfit. It was alien to her, but felt natural, like a second skin. She had been born again, as something beyond normal understanding, beyond humanity. A normal girl would stumble away as her parents died protecting her. A magical girl could push back.

The lights must have been noticed; Claire heard yelling and the rustling of boots moving through tall grass. As she made to draw her sword, the incubator spoke again. “I suggest you fall back and find companions. You have potential, but this battle can no longer be won. Mireille should have just returned, she should be around here somewhere.”

As four German soldiers stepped into the clearing, the incubator stepped into the shadows and disappeared. “I hope we meet again.” resonated in her head, before it was gone.

As the soldiers drew closer, she got a better look at them. They, too, had tridents on their backs. One of them had the same armband she had seen on the imposing officer. It was a white band, with a goldenrod emblem. A spear, in front of the numerals XIII.

One of them stepped forward and spoke. A young man, clearly nervous. “Surrender und you vill not be hurt!” he spoke in a terrible accent. He must have practiced that phrase. Giving him a withering stare, she lunged forward at a superhuman speed, drawing her rapier and impaling his throat in one swift motion. As he and the other soldiers realized what had happened, she jumped back. The young soldier crumpled to the ground, blood pouring from his throat in regular, powerful spurts. The three remaining, their rifles already aimed at her, opened fire. Claire jolted backwards as a bullet hit her shoulder.

It was like a bee sting. The force was great, but she could stand her ground. The blood dyed the white tassels on her shoulder, but it was barely visible on her red costume. It was clearly designed to be soaked in blood. She felt the shot pushing out of her shoulder, the wound closing behind it. She grinned, drunk on her new power, as the bullet fell out of her shoulder and to the dirt.

The soldiers threw their rifles away, and backed away, grabbing the tridents on their backs. “Eversor, Eversor!” one of them yelled toward the town square. Calling reinforcements? They could do nothing to hurt her. She watched her prey warily as they kept their distance, almost shoulder-to-shoulder, their tridents pointing toward her. She jumped forward again, aiming for the right-most. This time, they anticipated her speed, and her target stepped back defensively. She grazed his arm, but knew it was a minor wound. The left soldier stepped forward and prodded her, forcing her back.

A larger group of soldiers arrived from the other side of the building. She counted six, and then noticed the black-coated officer stride up behind them. He was studying her. A few tense seconds passed, before he calmly uttered something in German. His voice was quiet, but carried through the yard.

Nine soldiers moved as one, and moved to surround her. She moved to evade the encirclement, but found herself again against the oak tree.

They started moving in on her, tridents forward. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the officer walking away. No matter how many soldiers they brought, she could heal anything they could do to her.

She went on a third offensive. A graying middle-aged soldier fell to the ground, dropping his weapon. The rest exploited her over-extension. The first trident skewered her stomach from behind. So did the second. She fell and was pinned to the ground. As she pushed herself back up, two more pierced her arms. She couldn't move her arms- they had severed the tendons! With horror, she realized their goal. They might not be able to kill, but they could easily immobilize.

Pinned to the ground, she suddenly shivered. She had a very bad feeling. Something had become aware of her, and was moving closer. Thinking about it gave her a small headache.

She didn't have time to think about it for long. Her legs kicked out, and she heard a grunt behind her as she bruised someone's shins. One of the soldiers chuckled at her resistance. Bastard.

The chuckling abruptly stopped, and she heard a thump. Followed by two more, in quick succession. Turning her head, she saw three soldiers slump down. Large arrows were poking through their chests. The remaining five soldiers backed away quickly, looking for the new assailant, and leaving Claire free to regenerate. They didn't have to look long. Almost noiseless, a figure descended from the oak tree. It was a girl, perhaps two years older than her. She wore a leather tunic, baggy shorts, and a small forest green cape. Unlike the incubator's scarf, it fluttered properly as it fell, as did her braids of silver hair.

She carried a longbow, and a quiver was belted to her waist. Her drawn bow threatened each of the soldiers in turn, and they slowly backed behind the corner of the building, out of her line of fire. She turned to face the rapidly healing Eversor. As she offered her hand, Claire recognized her as one of the girls from the boarding house, though she hadn't seen her since they first arrived.

Before she could ask anything, the girl smiled. “Next time you're surrounded, just jump over them, alright?” she quipped as she pulled a confused Claire to her feet. “All healthy now? Follow me.” She started running toward the town hall, jumped to a second floor balcony, and then pushed off, landing on the roof. Claire did the same, once again surprised by her own power.

She remembered the presence she felt earlier, and realized her headache was getting worse. It was coming closer.

The archer girl dashed gracefully from one rooftop to another, and Claire managed to keep pace by shadowing her footsteps. As they circled around the plaza, they stopped and silently looked out over the town. A farm was burning in the distance. The supposed purge of evidence must have begun.

A dark cloaked figure jumped up in front of them, landing next to the archer. Claire put her hand on her sword, ready to fight, but her companion relaxed. Claire and the mystery girl stared each other down. Mostly covered by a faded black cloak, she could only see that the girl was slender, and about the same age as the other girl. Short brown hair was visible in her hood, and her amber eyes regarded Claire cautiously.

“How was it?” The first girl whispered, a note of worry in her voice.
“Can we trust her, Mireille?” the new girl didn't take her eyes off of Claire. She spoke perfect French, but in a distinctly English accent.
“The Seventh said she just contracted. Asked me to take care of her. She doesn't even know what's going on.”
Claire tried to interrupt, but was cut off by the cloaked English girl.
“Good enough for now.” She finally looked toward her companion. “Your friends are all captured, I think. Couldn't get too close. They have a bloody powerful Culexus.” She paused. “...and it's moving this way. We need to get going.” She made to exit in the opposite direction.

The pale-haired archer, Mireille apparently, clenched her fist. “Damn it all! How did they know we were here?” For a second, she gazed longingly at the town. Tearing herself away, she turned toward Claire with a forced smile.

“Don't mind Amy! She's a little paranoid, but she's nice, deep down.” She looked past Claire, and jogged to catch up with Amy.

Not wanting to find out what a Culexus was, Claire hurried to follow them off the roof and into the darkness of the forest.

Caroline Brandt closed her eyes and sighed as the slightly inebriated Vindicare next to her scoped out one of the ritzier hotels in Santa Destroy. They were up on a nearby rooftop, and supposed to be scoping the place out as a possible hunting ground for a witchcult, and more than one magical girl had vanished or been taken out by surprise near here in the past few weeks. Her partner, Anastasia Krylova, was giggling to herself as her pale cheeks went pinker and pinker. Between her, the constant sirens in the distance, and the fact that neither of them could feel anything witchy nearby was starting to grate on her patience.

The redheaded Eversor frowned, and picked up her binoculars to see what the ruskie was so smitten by. She almost immediately dropped them again. “Fer fuck's sake, Stacy!” she hissed, smacking the Vindicare on the back of the head. “It's always people goin' at it with ya' nowadays, what the fuck is wrong with you.”

Ana yelped and pulled back, only avoiding firing her Vychlop in surprise because she'd had the sense to keep the safety on. She glared over at Caroline, rubbing her other eye.

“Yeah!” Carol narrowed her eyes. “Two chicks goin' at it with the window open while ya' were turnin' beet fuckin' red.” she teased. “Ya' wanna tell me somethin? About how ya' wanna rip this stupid costume offa' me an' take me right here fer the whole city ta' watch?” the Eversor grabbed up the bottle of good ol’ American Honey they'd been sharing and downed a slug. “Cause ah'm a screamer, they're gonna know alright.”

(1/5)
>>
>>28104468
“Oh don't be so confident, Carol, I know you don't bat for both sides. And quiet down, someone will hear us.” Ana snapped, snatching the bottle out of the redhead's hands and taking a slug of her own.

Carol scooted closer to Ana, and started to whisper right in her ear. “Aaaw, but that don't mean ya' can't lust and stew over yer best friend in secret, right?”

The Vindicare rolled her eyes, pushing the redhead off. “Just because I do bat for both sides doesn't mean I find you attractive. Since you're straight, do you find... let's say... Lance Kilgore attractive?”

The Eversor frowned. “Kilgore? That fucker? He kicks ass and ah'll say he don't look too bad at all but he's supposed ta' be an awful jackass-”

“It's the same with you, except you ARE an awful jackass.” Ana chuckled, going back to her rifle.

“Yeah, yeah...” Carol chuckled too, surprised as she actually felt a little twinge of dejection at Ana’s comment deep down in her guts. “Well how come all yer' doin' is just watchin' people? The Eighth is full a' dykes, ah'm sure ya' could find someone ta' roll around in the sheets with.”

Ana's cheeks pinked again, and she spared a little glance over at her friend before replying. “Kills the Insomnia and gives much better dreams than...” she trailed off.

“Goin' fer wound shots an' watchin' the targets bleed out on the pavement did?” Carol finished for her.

“Yes, Carol.” the Vindicare sighed. “Glad to see tact is still alive and well among Eversors.”

“Well shit, forget tact ah'm just glad it's only somethin' a little pervy yer doin' now instead a' somethin' that's got me worried yer gonna fuckin' lose it one night and murder me in my sleep. Was worried even all the way back durin' trainin' when ya' told me all them murder reports on the news weren't doin' anythin' fer ya no more.”

“At least you're concerned about me.” Ana smiled. “Have you spotted anything tonight? I haven't seen a thing... relevant to our search at least.” she added with a little cough. “I thought I saw some odd shadows skulking around in the alley but I think it was my eyes playing tricks, there was nothing that could have cast them.”

Carol shook her head. “Most interestin' thing was some fatass getting mugged in the alley down there, got stabbed even after forkin' over his wallet. Ya' can probably still see the blood if ya' look close but he went hobblin' off pretty fast.” she pointed down toward where she'd seen it a few hours ago.

“Only stabbed? Lucky fatty.” Ana snerked, checking out the alley with her scope. “I hate these stakeouts, nine times out of ten I swear those witchcult freaks see you before they see them and either crawl into the dark and pull the hole in with them, or sneak up close and start throwing frags everywhere.”

“Yeah, that's how Riggs and Ash bought it last month, ‘bout a dozen guys just blew em' ta' pieces...” Carol nodded, looking around their rooftop for a moment.

“Well at least it looks like another mugging going on to help alleviate the boredom, check it out, two kicking around some bald fellow.” the Vindicare pointed them out as the redhead grabbed up her binoculars again.

A man and a woman were taking turns kicking around some middle aged homeowner type, who was balled up on the ground, unmoving.

“Ya' think they killed him?” asked Carol, then frowned. “...shit, not even two months ago ah'dve been chargin' down there ta' save him, now we're watchin' this guy get beat the fuck up fer fun, what's wrong with us?”

“I think he's only knocked out... and maybe we've both just seen too many people die to really give much of a damn anymore. I know I don't.... there's something on the woman's neck...” she trailed off, giving her scope a click and taking another look. “That's a kiss!” she gasped. “Carol, it's them, the woman has a witch kiss!”

A moment of looking hard later, Carol could see it too… a little white spider over a slowly pulsing black circle, writhing around on the nape of the woman's neck. She was wearing a dark blue jacket that normally would have covered it with the hood up, but it'd fallen down during her assault on the bald guy. The woman put her hood up again, and grabbed one arm of the unconscious man while her partner took the other.

“Ana, they’re dragging him off to God knows where! Waste em’ already!” Carol hissed.

“Not yet, we don't know where they're hiding, I do it know and we're back at square one except with the cult on alert.” she replied, keeping them in her sights.

The two waited as the cultists pulled the man down the alley way and over to a manhole, which they pried up with surprising ease. The woman quickly entered, getting baldy's legs inside while her partner knelt over the hole, easing him down.

“There...” Ana exhaled, and fired her rifle. The heavy bullet caught the male cultist in the head, blowing his skull apart like a piece of rotten fruit hit with a hammer. He fell forward, and the woman fell inside under the weight of her captive.

“Missed one, but that's still one less a' them shitheads we gotta deal with.” Carol smirked. “Let's get down there and wreck their night before she alerts all a' them.” the Eversor grabbed up the bottle of whiskey.

“I'd almost rather she did, and I know you do too. Sometimes it's more fun that way... probably just the whiskey talking...”

Carol laughed. “Ah'll make a' Everser outta you yet, Ana!” she raised the bottle. “Ta revenge, an' Eightball who gave us a shot at it, bless that little bastard.” the redhead downed half of what was left, then handed it off to Ana.

“Aye, and to your sister, Blessed Lady rest her... and both our families.” Ana grinned, finishing off the bottle and pitching it off the rooftop.

I ran the rag across my helmet's visor for the thousandth time. It was spotless, it practically sparkled - it still wasn't clean. I laughed, quietly, bitterly. Already turning into Lady MacBeth, at the ripe old age of seventeen.

The pressure seal popped with a hiss, and the Osprey's rear ramp dropped. I punched the release on my chest, and the crash webbing retracted. I stood slowly, stiffly, rolling my shoulders, and followed Rev and Linde out the back of the transport. The miniature cyclone kicked up by the Osprey's rotors whipped my short, purple hair as I stepped onto the flight deck of the Hand of Vengeance - the flying, heavily-stealthed aircraft carrier that served as the headquarters of the Sixteenth Officio.

We paced toward the superstructure, as techs and ground crew swarmed around the Osprey. Another squad of Puella Magi loped past us toward the waiting transport; it was impossible to tell their identities through the opaque visors and powered armor. Just another group of nameless, faceless, coldly professional teenage murderers, off to do some nameless, faceless client's dirty work.

I was exhausted. We were all exhausted. My body mindlessly walked its way belowdecks to our squad bay, following my squad leader on autopilot. Linde palmed the scanner beside the hatch, and we plodded through the door. I took my place under the servo-tech in my armor's pod, relaxing as the robot stripped me of my restrictive suit.

I was the third one into the shower - Rev and Sonja were already there, washing mechanically. As Linde stepped in after me, a chuckle died on my lips. Six months ago, I would have recoiled in blushing shock and dismay at the thought of sharing a shower built for one with three naked girls. Basic, and life aboard ship, beat that out of me. Now, I was barely conscious of their nudity as I washed myself. Linde motioned to me, and I obediently soaped her back, then turned so she could do the same. We were too tired to joke about lewdness. Eventually, somebody sat down and leaned against the wall. It might have been Sonja. All I remember is that sitting suddenly seemed like a really, really good idea. I'll just close my eyes for a minute. Let the hot water sluice over me, erase the aches.

I woke up sometime later. It couldn't have been too long - the water was still hot. I started to sit up, but stopped as I became conscious of the warm, breathing weight across my middle. At some point, Sonja had decided that my bare stomach would make an excellent pillow, and was curled up next to me. I was also apparently leaning on someone, either Rev or - no, not Rev, Rev's head was...heh. You never have a camera handy when you really need one. So I was leaned against Linde.

2/5ish (I am not good at field length)
>>
>>28104550
I heard a knock over the sound of the water. Linde stirred, and carefully distangled herself. I watched somewhat blearily as she padded over to the door and opened it a crack. She listened for a moment, nodded twice, and closed the door. She turned back towards us. I raised an eyebrow, and indicated the sleeping girls questioningly. She shook her head and put a finger to her lips. I slowly extricated myself, being careful to avoid shoving my nethers further into Rev's sleeping face and leaving Sonja propped up against her.

I stepped out of the shower, snagging a towel from the rack and briskly drying my hair with it. I pulled my hair into a loose ponytail and dried the rest of myself. Linde stood to the side, going through the same motions. I collected a pair of black gym shorts and an olive-drab tank, and sprawled on the couch. Linde sat somewhat more gracefully at the end of the sofa - I obediently moved my long legs out of her way, then replaced them across her lap. My eyes wandered around the room.

Our squad bay was an incongruous mix of the spartan and the opulent. A deep, shag carpet covered corrugated metal floors, overstuffed furniture sat in a loose circle below naked incandescent bulbs, and a battered, much-loved table stood off to one side with mismatched chairs and stools around it. Four bunks were stowed up against the bulkhead, chained out of the way, and Rev had scrounged a small TV and an ancient Gamecube, both of which sat on one end of the haphazardly-repaired coffee table in front of the sofa. It wasn't an aesthetically pleasing room by any stretch, but it was comfortable, and it was home.

>>
>>28104566
I let my wandering gaze rest on Linde. She was tall for a girl, with long, slender arms and legs. If it were anyone else, her body would've looked coltish and awkward - on Linde, it just looked sleek and graceful. She moved like a cat - all grace and poise, not a movement wasted. Her short, blue hair set off her storm-gray eyes beautifully, and while her strong-jawed face would never be considered a classical beauty, the cheer and liveliness in her more than made up for it.

There was a quiet splashing behind me, followed by the ruffle of a towel. Rev walked past, bending to pull on a pair of panties and a black tee, before she, too, dropped sideways into a chair. Rev wasn't tall, but she wasn't excessively short, either. She was built like a dancer, slim and sinewy, and she moved with an economy of motion that hinted at a vast capability for swift, efficient violence. Her red hair clashed somewhat with the slight, exotic cant of her eyes - nobody expected to see a redheaded Asian. The tattoo that snaked up one arm only added to her image, giving the girl a touch of savagery that, coupled with her looks and manner, gave the impression of a lethal, joyfully unrepentant free spirit.

Another splash, another ruffle, and Sonja padded over to sit in the remaining armchair. The white-haired girl wore a fuzzy, too-big pink bathrobe, one that had been given to her by her late grandmother on her tenth birthday, four years ago. The bathrobe enveloped the short, skinny girl like a fuzzy blanket, hiding her face up to the nose as she sat in the chair, legs crossed under her. Her age and size meant that she'd inevitably become the rest of squad's favorite littlest sister, and we doted on her. She was also my spotter, and, from what little I'd seen, a damned good one.

We sat in companionable silence for some time. Sonja dozed, and Rev pulled a book from under her chair. Linde contented herself with sitting quietly, savoring the moment of peace. Eventually, however, she stirred. I moved my legs, and she stood.
"That run went well, girls. I'm proud of you. I know this wasn't the most glamorous job ever, but it was necessary, if we want to preserve stability in the Middle East."

I made a face. "I'm pretty sure the Powers that Be want the exact opposite of that, Boss. Instability means the jobs keep coming, and the revenue keeps moving."

Linde shook her head with a smile. "Rev, you can field this one."

The redhead closed her book (In Fury Born, as I recall) and stretched lazily. "Now, Pawn. You haven't been here long enough to see it happen, but there's something odd about the contracts we keep getting. Do you know what that is?"

I shook my head, and she grinned. "A lot of our contracts come from Mossad, like the last one. But we also get 'em from MID and the Egyptian Mukhabarat. That's why secrecy and stealth is so important - neither side knows we're working for the other."

I felt my eyebrows climbing toward my hairline. "We're playing both sides, is what you're saying. I...really don't see how antagonizing both parties helps stability."

5/6
>>
>>28104596
Linde smiled. "Give the girl a cigar. Yes, we're playing both sides. But it's not that simple. Out of all the contracts we've accepted in the last nine months, every one of the targets was a Hawk."

The eyebrows climbed higher. "You're implying Jyuro is legitimately trying to preserve peace. Through killing off the people who want to go to war. That's...that's kinda twisty, Boss."

She nodded. "It is. But I suppose the ends justify the means."

I shook my head. "I still can't see it. We'd make more money if they actually went to war, so it can't be that. And Jyuro didn't strike me as having much of an altruistic streak, so it isn't that either. What's the angle?"

Linde studied me for a moment. "Not much gets by you, huh? You're right, that's not it. None of this discussion leaves this room, understood? I'm...technically not really supposed to tell you this."

I nodded.

"The reason we're bumping off the warmongers is because we have an overarching, multibillion-dollar contract with NATO. We keep the peace, through whatever means we deem necessary. Jyuro, and Warmaster Pavolvena, decided the best way to do it was simply to be...selective about which contracts we accept. Business as usual."

I frowned. "One would think that nine months and a hundred Magical Girls, with support, would be more than enough to liquidate the people keeping the region volatile."

6/7
>>
>>28104613
Linde shrugged. "You'd have to talk to Intel about that one. I just carry a rifle and shoot who they tell me." Her demeanour changed, slipping into what I privately referred to as 'business mode.' "Now. As much as I'd like to continue this discussion, we are actually on a schedule here. Intel believes we have a potential security breach on our hands." The atmosphere in the room changed subtly, tension ratcheting up. "Specifically, they believe there will be an infiltration of - or outright attack on - one of our offshore facilities, codenamed Big Shell. We’ll be briefed en route. I let you sleep and relax as long as I could, but it’s time to suit up. Dustoff in five.”

We stood, stifling groans of exhaustion. No rest for the wicked, I guess. And the rest of us don’t get much sleep either.

Our recon team isn't in position yet, but they'd be able to spot a Magical Girl squad being inserted into the security, wouldn't they?

How much control does the First exercise over the others?
How much inter-Officio combat and rivalry allowed to occur? How bad does it have to get before the First comes down in orbital drop pods like the fist of an angry God-Emperor on top of the Incubators involved?

And which Officios are enemies of the 9th? We know that the 8th and the 17th are sort-of-allies.
>>

Probably just because he's actually grown some competence.
I've got an idea on how to deal with both that and the 'officio bloat' problem but I'll save it for when it becomes relevant.

QB stated that
a) he wouldn't leave the girls of the Tenth Officio without an Incubator
b) the Ninth Officio basically can't get any bigger
c) he didn't want another bloodbath like what happened with the Third, so just killing them all is also out
Which is why he was actually considering helping Jyuubey with his problem, which is obviously mass desertions.
I have a potential solution to b), but I'll leave it to next thread to ask Decu about the bits I need to know for it to work.

I normally don't catch these threads while Decu's still posting plot (and if I do, it's usually just the last update or two) but I want to throw out a few suggested courses of action for the rest of the day or so, before our date with Midori.

Obviously, we need to shut the shit going on right now down. I'm pleasantly surprised Pinky didn't nom on Haruka's soul yet, but this is still bad.

Almost as obvious, we need to interrogate Lucius and crew

And we need to sit down for a while in a Silent Room and get two things done: our chat with Pinky, and our attempt to connect with Kirika in the golden sword.

And maybe get Mami or somebody to help us get some nice clothes for our date.
>>
>>28105014

To elaborate, I'm supper busy between work and other IRL related stuff, so when I get home it's pretty much draw for MGNQ until I pass out and I've pretty much left the wiki entirely to the nice fellow who's helping me until Archivalfag stepped in very recently to help out.

So, it's a very small team and we can't all do everything. I have my hands full just trying to keep the index and gallery udpated.
>>
>>28104827

The First passes down some general instructions and it's up to the other Incubators to follow or interpret them. If one Officio is doing something that's totally detrimental to the other Officios or involving a whole lot of innocent civilians, they will send one Magical Girl. Two if it's really bad.

>>28104897

Blood God, then!

I don't think it's a matter of rescue. Kyubey would probably be quite happy to send her back to the first if he asked. He might not even ask for a lot of concessions, such is his apparent respect for the First.

There's probably some reason they don't want her back though. I'm guessing the ninth's Culexus are the best place for her to be treated after Murderface and Pinky broke her. Though efforts have probably been rather stilted since we lost most of our Culexus.

Yeah, that was the description. Black Rock Shooter with her jacket zipped up. I'll be making some small changes here and there so it's not a straight up carbon copy, but that's basically her design.
>>
>>28105987
But we did
She is an assistant / underwear cataloguer

Heh, just imagined her telling her friends about her day after that one
>>
>>28106103
I can just see that now.

"Ev...everyone! I got to help the Black Shieldmaiden catalogue the Betrayer's underwear collection!"
"That is so lucky."
"Did she let you touch her holy shield?"
>>
>>28105871
>>28106069

I wonder of that means her power is being indestructible or something
>>
>>28106103
That was ages ago. Like, days ingame. We need some fresh chores. Maybe putting her together with Midori on info-gathering about our redacted profile might work.
>>
>>28106164

I am now imagining Kumatora getting horrendously beaten up like in the BRS fights, and getting up like it's nothing with the genki attitude that she's shown in the quest so far.

...why does this make me so sad?
>>
>>28106123
Needs more KYAAAA, but sounds about right.
>>
>>28106243
Well, if you imagine that she's a masochist then it gets a little bit less sad.
