Previous thread:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28013529/

You are Freja-Signi Bjornsdottir, a 14 year-old Einherjar pilot. You were about to take a sync test when it gets cancelled, and were told to scramble; So far, you've met Helga Gunnlod, your AESIR liaison officer, Karl Brunson, your obnoxious roommate (who is also a pilot), and Hilde Geirridr, another pilot with curiously golden eyes. At the news of finally getting into a real fight in your Einherjar, you've acted as calm and responsible as you can; That is the impression you want to give. But you know that the truth is, deep behind your calm and confidence, you are really...
[ ] Excited. Oh boy! Finally a real battle in the Einherjar!
[ ] Nervous. You hope you can deal with what's coming.
[ ] Calculating. Keep coming up with backup plans in case of SNAFU.
>>
Excited. We have robot. We will fuck it's shit up, whatever it is.

Why did I not know this was a quest until now?

Because it's real new? Last thread was cut off due to modemlightningfried.

In the first thread we somewhat established ourself as the serious one.
>>
>>28130556
And the tie is broken.
>Excited
Underneath our calm exterior coils an excited soul. Our first, REAL, mission! No more simulated ones where you face off against nondescript giants, this is the real deal. We can't help but tremble a bit as we sat on the cockpit, waiting for it to insert itself into our Einherjar. Your own giant mech, armed with a prog-sword and composite material shield, ready to do battle. As the cockpit lowers into the Einherjar, the visual cortex beams on, and you can see that Karl and Hilde is already in their Einherjar. Karl looks a bit nervous, which is well-displayed on his worried look - not like when he's peeking at you earlier (which you replied with a well-placed punch). Hilde, on the other hand, looks as if she's in her element, but still wearing her cold expression.
"Allright kids, you ready in there?" Helga's voice, and then face, pops in one of the viewscreens. "From the reports I get, we're going to be dealing with a Wulf-type. Remember your training sims?"
"Of course, Helga!" You reply, scarcely holding back your excitement.
"Now, it's still some 1000 kilometers away from the Yggdrasil, in the forests north of here. Some anomalous temperature drops have been reported. By the way, I won't be your ops director, Klaus Thorsson is. You all remember Klaus, right?"
>say:
[ ] Wait, who?

We are serious-minded, someone who doesn't let their emotions control them, and who has nothing but disdain for Karl.

We presented Freja as someone who stays on top of things, mentally, and generally knows what's going on.

Yeah, you remember Klaus. The tall guy in glasses, kinda muscular, you see him a lot in the official pictures, met him once during the orientation session. "Yeah, isn't he one of the higher-ups on AESIR?" You ask.
"Yep. I'll patch you all to him soon." With that, another pop-up window opens, and Klaus' face stares into yours.
"Attention pilots, this is your ops director speaking. You know your mission yet?"
Karl opens up. "Uh, get out there and beat the wolf up, right?"
"Mostly right, pilot. You are to kill the Wulf-type, but make sure the corpse isn't too heavily damaged. We are certain that is Wulf is different from what we've seen before. You will be deposited around 100 km of the target via airdrop launch, and you will have 5 minutes of Einherjar power. We've trained you for this moment, so what is your strategy?"
Hilde speaks, her voice soft yet certain. "I'll refer to Freja's for this mission."
>your strategy?
[ ] Get in close for sword and board action with Karl, and Hilda makes sure the Wulf doesn't go anywhere near the Yggdrasil
[ ] Ambush the Wulf as it nears Yggdrasil, all three rushing to where the Wulf is

Remember that Karl has dual-wield Prog-Axes, you have Prog-Sword and Shield, while Hilde has AT-Penetrator Lance.

We are limited on power, have only 5 minutes of active time, so we should let it come to us so we can save power.

tiebreaker needed, I think. Ambush or Hunt?

"If it's up to me, I'd ambush the Wulf as it nears Yggdrasil." You say confidently. "The three of us go in the periphery of the forest, spread out; We go to whoever sees the Wulf first."
"Sounds good. But remember that in case you fail, we'll deploy a N2 bomb to stop it. We need the Wulf intact, but not above the safety of Yggdrasil. Now go, godspeed." Klaus' window shuts off, which means it is time for the deployment. You brace yourself as the Einherjar is encased in a dampened shock cradle; a fancy way to say 'gigantic bullet which is about to be fired over where the action is'. As the shells close over E-01, you can see E-00 and E-02's shells fit over theirs. After a few minutes of wait, as the shells are loaded into the delivery cannon on top of Yggdrasil, a massive increase in Gees indicate that you are fired towards your destination, the forest to the north. Through the inbuilt, disposable cameras you see that all three of you are flying over verdant fields, and even one full of dandelions. But then the chute alarm opens, and a sudden jerk. Your shells pop open, and the 5-minute timer starts. In the distance, you can see the signs of the Wulf; entire swaths of forest flash-frozen, with jagged ice spikes sometimes impaling tanks and sometimes containing soldiers.
The three of you scramble for your spots, the timer ticking. You see that Karl breathes hard, bordering on hyperventilation, while Hilde still wears her emotionless mask as her face.

"Karl, you take the east position! Hilde, take the west! I'll handle the center!" You confidently ordered. "If you get a visual, say it over the comms!"
"What's a visual?" Karl asks. You almost made your Einherjar facepalm from the mental command you almost gave it.
"It means if you see it, you idiot." Exasperation leaks from your sigh. Focusing your thoughts away from Karl's shenanigans, you sweep your area for the Wulf. It should be wolf-shaped, you think. Prog-sword and board readied, you note that the lakeside is a bit slippery from the spring mud. You look to the north again, seeing the casualties; Seems like the Wulf could be a Nibelwulf, a wolf of the Nibelwinter. Anomalous temperature drops, indeed.
Klaus's voice now permeates the silence of the forest. "Don't forget, we need that wolf in one piece. Our sensors detect the temperature fluctuations are rising near the area. It's near."
Klaus' voice drops off, and once again the eerie silence returned. Not even the leaves rustle in the wind.
Wait, what?
"Contact!"

It was Karl's voice. "You sure, Karl?" You asked.
"Yes, I'm sure! It's heading west from the east!" A pint of panic is heard in Karl's voice.
"Hilde, chasing." E-00 runs from the west, intercepting the Wulf; You yourself see in the distance, the skies darkening and the forest ominous. Suddenly, you see it in the distance, as several ice shards suddenly spike up; something vaguely wolf-like, but made of shards of ice and snow. Something cylindrical can be seen inside it, but it's obscured by ice, snow and distance. You scramble yourself, ready and eager for your first fight, but suddenly a momentary loss of gravity; your Einherjar's feet slipped on the wet mud.
>do:
[ ] Shake yourself off for a bit, you must be overexcited.

>Keep your eyes on the enemy
You steady your Einherjar, the slick mud hampering your footwork; But you never took your eyes off the Wulf. You can see it, running from the east towards the west, trailing spikes of ice. You see Karl running with both axes out, chopping into the spikes that gets in his way; You see Hilde, looking almost effortlessly leaping over thick trees, lance high and aimed. But you never took your eyes off the frozen wolf. Stabbing your sword into the ground for leverage, you steady yourself long enough to manage to sprint towards the wolf. But suddenly, you see the Wulf, and the Wulf sees Hilde intercepting it; It leaps out of Hilde's lunge, running full-tilt towards you. You have barely entered the forest, and while the tree line is way below your field of vision, you can see the Wulf's tracks leave whole areas cold and dry.
Think quick. What do you do?

Put our shield up, take a solid stance, and bash it into its face. Get it stuck in our shield so that our comrades can stab it in the flanks.

Well, since it's time for one of my classes, I'll have to suspend the end of episode 1 for later. See you guys in the future! I'll put up a notice on the nearest QTG for the next session, usually I'll be on Tuesdays my time (which would be Monday night in the US/UK).

Any critique/suggestion/advice for today's session?
