Kamen Rider WAR Quest, Episode 3
>Foundation’s X’s Response?
>Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Kamen%20Rider%20War%20Quest

You fought Kamen Rider RANGER in a high stakes fight to the death. And, at the end, you ended his life, taking his power for himself. Well, that was apparently the mysterious monster woman Mezool’s plans, anyway.

However, upon meeting her in the [Gaia Library] you refused to hear her out after she would not answer her questions. In return, she withdrew her offer of a partnership and took away whatever you would have gained from RANGER’s loss. Furthermore, her warning of your low compatibility with the [Eternal Memory] was that just a bluff?

Regardless, waking up, you find yourself in your Rebel base, surrounded by your friends, apparently brought there by Emily Straits who is, unknown to the rest of them, a traitor known with the alter-ego of [Kamen Rider BLACK KNIGHT]

And, what’s worse is that Mezool’s [Mysterious Blue Coin] has escaped and is currently being held by her!

You take a deep breath as you glance at Emily, who looks innocent. Before her betrayal, she was your friend and infiltration expert for your small rebel group. Prior to this, though she was serious on jobs, there was always a carefree nature around her.

Next to you is Jupiter Jones, he’s older than you but less in shape, he’s black with short hair and glasses. He was a computer expert who had joined your cause. He’s quite skilled in his line of work, but he’s rather excitable, for better-or-worse. He’s support during most missions, he stays at base.

There’s also Jack Henry Jr., he’s the source of your contacts. Actually a well-to-do socialite, he’s secretly the philanthropist who funds your operations and keeps you informed on certain matters such as rumors concerning the higher up [Foundation X] movements. He’s rather… eccentric, but he means well.

>(1/2)

>>28167836
Lastly, there’s Josephine Stroud. She’s your weapons and demolition expert. An eye patch covering one eye and short, cropped bleached blonde hair, she’s actually very quiet, she works well with others, but she doesn’t really like talking about herself.

But that’s all the support you have. Well, before you beat RANGER. Now you technically have a [Territory], which means Foundation X will be probably reacting soon.

Jupiter gets up, laughing, patting you hard on your uninjured shoulder. “Well, man, you’ve gotta show off that thing sometime, but I should get back to the monitors. But, be sure to be there for tonight‘s victory dinner!”

He heads towards the door and leaves with a wave of his hand. Jack Henry’s not here, which means he’s probably out there getting the current situation. Josephine is sitting nearby, but she‘s remaining quiet after her outburst earlier when you awoke.

Emily is still here, flipping Mezool’s coin, watching you. The other two are in your pocket, but they feel only their slight weight and size makes you notice them. She gets up and stretches, letting out a few groans of pain.

“Well, I should rest up. Those goons really did a number on me. Later!”

She waves cheerfully as she heads towards the door.

Asked about her desires, though. I'm fairly sure getting a "If what you're doing won't hurt innocent humans, I don't care" would have at least kept her civil and us at full power.

And we shouldn't have broken his driver at all. We should have taken it, and given it to an ally. The more Riders we have, the better.

...Is RANGER's driver still around, Decade?
>>
>>28168107
>And we shouldn't have broken his driver at all. We should have taken it, and given it to an ally. The more Riders we have, the better.
At this point, that's a bad idea. We might end up with more Emily.
Honestly, I'd rather not play Decade's game at all, but people seem to want to rush blindly into it.

>I'm fairly sure getting a "If what you're doing won't hurt innocent humans, I don't care" would have at least kept her civil and us at full power.
Possibly. But she is a Greeed, and she would manipulate and twist those words until she's free to do as she pleases. The only reason Ankh couldn't, is because he was really weak.
And that wasn't Full Power. That was like using gameshark codes, and would have kept us at her bidding lest she threaten to cut us off. Better to cut her off now, and gain the power ourselves.

Maybe we'll blow an entire lifetime's worth of Parker Luck for a threesome before one of them dies.
>>
>>28168359

We all feel bad, but at least she's still our friend and she discovered the interpersonal cost of closing herself off and giving into fear. Now we introduce her to the freedom of the mask, and she'll spring back as we hunt down carnage. Hey, maybe if we later bro it up with Johnny Storm, we should see if the two of them hit it off maybe? He might only be 19 or 20 right now, and a prodigy mathematician (maybe) who doesn't act like it. Its all good. Though, we should try to get Gwen and Felicia talking to one another. They both love costuming. We need to get the girls to be friendly with each other. It will help all three of them. Felicia has been hiding who she is for so long that she probably has issues with loneliness. And MJ and Gwen probably have some nerdy coinciding interests too. We don't just social link to them, we social link them to each other...but we may have to run for a bit once Gwen finds out that Felicia is the Black Cat
>>
>>28168224
I think she was lying about the whole thing. We were at Blue Flare mode until she started getting access to the Gaia Library, and only then did we lose power. I'm pretty sure that she didn't unlock the Eternal Memory's full power during the fight, she inhibited it afterwards. We need to kill her, or at least incapacitate her, to get back to full power. If we can get her main consciousness Core Medal back we should just pound on it and work it over with blow torches. I don't think the Core Medals can actually be destroyed without PuToTyra's abilities, but we can at least make her bleed out enough Cell Medals to render her inactive.

You stagger to your feet. You aren’t sure how long you’ve been out, but you can’t let Emily just slip away. Especially not with Mezool’s coin! Your body groans in protest- using the Eternal Memory for that fight seems to have really drained it.

You follow after Emily as Josephine watches silently, closing the door behind you. Looking around, you see her skirt swish as she turns the corner. Pursuing her from the hall, you see her heading downstairs to the base’s basement. Opening the door she closed behind her, you hear the sound of a gun cocking.

Looking forward, you see Emily sitting on a box, a gun pointed as you. You give her a steely stair before she sighs and, in a few motions, unloads and disassembles the gun. She get up and smiles at you, giving you a thumbs up with a cheerful smile.

“Way to go, I didn’t know you had that in you, killer!”

Stepping forward, you tense as she pauses and lets out a sigh, crossing her arms. “Let me guess- you’re still upset about the whole betrayal things, right? Well, I’ll be frank, so long as you keep being as interesting as you are, I’ll stick around!”

She pauses, that cold and serious air around her again. “Well, so long as you don’t spoil our little secret, Julian. Then things might take an unfortunate turn, and I like our cute little subordinates enough to not kill them.”

From what you can tell, there’s the unspoken ‘for now.’ You consider what to do- Emily isn’t being antagonistic, but she’s no longer your ally. Furthermore, you can’t let someone like her run around with Mezool. But, at the same time, can you face her right now?

It was after a system reboot, though. Completely plausible that she could have wormed in a bit of influence during that second start up. Even if I'm wrong, killing Mezool is in our best interests. We know she's a horrible thing that has no compunction against manipulating us into murder. We get the Core Medal back and we make her hurt.

....You're an idiot.

Gaia memories don't fucking reboot. Each one represents something, and contains ALL the knowledge of the planet on it. It's a flash drive.

You can't corrupt that easily, even if you ARE a Greeed.

Fuck, she'd have needed to be inside the Gaia Library to even -attempt- that.

She's not on our side and the things that entertain her aren't justice. She's also shown to be willing to betray us at a moments notice and threatened to kill our allies.
We need to get rid of her, especially since she most likely is playing double agent for her bosses right now, since we killed a rider and showed compatibility with eternal.
If you idiots are going to keep her around, don't trust her, don't tell her anything and demand mezool back.
>>
>>28168858
If she couldn't modify the Eternal Memory, how did she unlock access for us during the fight? Somehow she managed to affect our ability to use the Memory. Maybe she did it by altering us, maybe she did it by hacking the Driver, maybe she managed to corrupt the Memory itself. It could be a mix of them. Perhaps she started out by corrupting the Driver to get influence over us, then when she got into the Gaia Library she altered the Eternal Memory itself so that we'd be stuck with her. I recognize it's a bit of a long shot, but I don't trust anything she said to be true. And it fits the chain of events: We transform, and she notices the path to the Gaia Library that the Eternal Memory provides. We deactivate the system, and the next time we turn it back on, something is wrong with the transformation. She starts influencing our decision making around this time. Then she gets into the Gaia Library and we lose Blue Flare mode entirely.

She has potential use, especially as BLACK KNIGHT, and shaky alliances are a common thing among kamen riders.

Damn it, you’re backed into a corner here. You can’t just let her have her way, either. You bite your lip and narrow your eyes, taking a step forward. Emily watches curiously, a smile on her face.

“Let’s be clear about something then. You work for /me/, got it?”

Emily blinks, clearly surprised at your words, before she grins and steps forward. “Interesting, very interesting. And if I refuse?”

You narrow your eyes. There’s only one way to get someone as twisted as her to listen to you.

“Then I’ll /make/ you.”

Emily pauses as she glances down at your hands, which are in a position prone to grabbing the driver and memory in your pocket. Her grin widens as she almost looks giddy. “Interesting! Interesting! Very well, I‘ll work for you!”

She reaches into her jacket’s pocket and tosses Mezool’s coin to you before walking past you. You watch her as she pauses and glances back, a crazed look on her face.

“Boss, just remember to keep it interesting, or else who knows what might happen! I‘ll be in my room if you need me.”

She curtseys towards you before resuming her exit. When she’s gone you sit down on the box she sat upon earlier and let out a sigh, your knees shaking. That woman is terrifying.

You feel something moving as you clench your hand around Mezool’s coin as it struggles against you. Seems like she’s more than a bit unhappy with you. You put it in your pocket and button it closed- she won’t be getting into the wrong hands.

Let's get the gang together and talk about our next move. We've defeated Ranger. That means we nominally control this territory, now. Practically speaking, we do no such thing. We can't police our new territory, so we can't stop any shenanigans Foundation X or any of the other evil organizations pulls. But we're still a figurehead, so any new challengers will be gunning for us. We need to get some security going. First step is getting intel on potential threats. You take a few moments to breath and calm yourself. The important thing would be to gather up the trustworthy members of your group and talk with them. Emily can be explained away as she’s resting and you’ll fill her in.

Getting up, you head back to the main room, where you woke up earlier, and see Josephine sitting there, looking thoughtful. Upon seeing you she nods.

“Have you seen Jack Henry?”

She shakes her head. You let out a sigh. That means there’s no telling when he’ll show up and it probably isn’t the best idea to try to get a hold of him- you might blow his cover. You head back towards the door. “I’m getting Jupiter, we need to have a meeting. Don’t bother Emily, she should rest.”

Nodding, Josephine gets up and starts arranging things for the meeting. You head upstairs and knock on Jupiter’s work room. After a minute, he opens the door. “Meeting in a few.”

Jupiter nods. “About damn time. There’s shit going down.”

It takes a few minutes, but the three of you are there. There’s six seats around the table, but you three fill in your spots. Jupiter lets out a sigh. “So, let’s get started.”

He glances at you both. “Hold onto your butts, because it’s going to be bad. Firstly, RANGER was, well he had a bunch of shit going on that was with Foundation X, but he was also so cheesy the people like him. And you’re the guy who killed him, which was probably for the best. Still, your approval rating’s shit so you shouldn’t expect help from people at this time.”

He leans back. “Furthermore, Jack Henry’s not back, which means he’s laying low- he can’t risk being openly associated with us so long as Texas is under Foundation X control as we all already know.”

He waves at a chart next to him. “With our approval shit, we should expect a pretty high rate of Kaijin attacks. But we aren’t strong enough to patrol the whole territory’ maybe if we were in a new England Territory, sure but this is fucking Texas. Unless Jack Henry gets us support, we’ve got to do it ourselves.”

He points at a TV. “And that leads us to our third GODDAMN point. Foundation X wants us to do that so we’ll be tired and they can crush you like an ant. And there are THREE fucking powerful Kaijin our there it seems.

“I’m going to be honest- unless we have an unstoppable front to stop them or an ace in the hole we’re fucked and it’s going to be rough and without lube.”

Josephine nods in agreement, her voice as usual- slow, rough and carefully measured. “While we’ve got more supplies because of owning this territory, we’re land locked. Foundation X could embargo us unless we can make a deal or get access to the sea. They’ve got the upper hand right now. We’ll have to make a move soon before they can prepare a response. And their response will come, ruthless and brutal.”

The current state of things isn’t good. And you’re weaker than ever right now…

“So, how are things looking, logistically?”

She pulls out a paper and looks at it. “Well, we have several automatic weapons, a few dozen grenades, and an rpg, with no extra ammo. We also have enough food and water to supply us for a week if besieged. Technically, as you own the territory, you could just take whatever you want, however it would be ill advised.”

She pauses and goes through other notes. “As for the territory, it’s a mostly civilian area, meaning residential and commercial areas. Barring the Foundation X research center, which is in this territory, there’s not a lot that’s here. That’s one of the reasons why we were able to set up here- RANGER overlooked us a inconsequential, only there to further his approval.

“However, until we get more information, I can’t tell you much more. But, you can expect the people in office around here were probably in league with Foundation X and will try to undermine you at all times- a good public show or finding something to ruin RANGER’s reputation might help the populace’s views about you.

“That is all at this time.”

You nod. Jupiter looks ready to go, so you call the meeting- worst case scenario is that you can call another one tomorrow. Josephine nods and gets up, walking over to the television and couch and sitting down. Jupiter gets up and heads outside, smokes in hand.

It’s about three in the afternoon now.

You do not.

In that case, we try to renegotiate.

"Hey, uh... Look. I'm sorry for pushing for an answer last night. I wanted to understand you, and know if you're likely to run wild and hurt innocents. Being manipulated into killing a man like that threw me off."

Or something.

So it's not the T1 or T2 memory. Odd.

Y/n?

Also, things are really slow, so this next one will be the last update of the night.

No. We know where Mezool stands, she'd just manipulate us, use us and try to blackmail us. And we have enough of that shit with Emily.

You pull out the Eternal Memory and look it over, a safe distance from anything.. The memory seems to be fine, as is the driver. You take off your jacket with the coins in it and set it within your sight before you transform. Triggering the [Gaia Memory] you insert it into your [Lost Driver] and transform.

However, the lines seem slow and sluggish in comparison to before. The armor forms around you as you see red arms, no knife, and no cape. You move around- compared to before, you’re much more slow and sluggish. You can use a maximum drive, but your transformation will immediately end.

Overall, you seem to have less of a boost to everything and much more limited capabilities in this form. You might be able to take out mass produced mooks or minor kaijin, but if you had fought RANGER like this…

You probably would have died. Nearby, you see Josephine watching you, so you end the transformation. Letting out a sigh, you drop into a chair and look at the one your coat is on. Glancing down at the [Eternal Memory] you remember what the book Mezool showed you said.

Unsuited user, huh?

You can’t make a deal with her- who knows what she’s do if she got the chance? But… you’re also not strong enough to match up to the threats, not only the ones outside, but the one inside your base. You gave a big bluff to Emily, but if it came down to it-

Would the Red Flare Eternal stand a chance against BLACK KNIGHT?

You glance over at the concerned looking Josephine before trying to smile. Grabbing your coat, you head back to your room and try to rest.

What should you do?

Like it or not, Mezool has expressed some interest in working with us.
>>
>>28171932
No, mezool expressed interest in using us. Someone doesn't have to be stabbing you in the face to be an enemy.
Then again, all you've done is spout bad ideas this quest: oh let's get the OOO driver, that won't make us go insane. Oh let's negotiate with mezool, that can't bite us in the ass.
>>
>>28171971
I'm going to just pop in here and say this- there's a lot of people going on metagame knowledge and it isn't even the correct ones. Mezool was the least dickbagish of the greeed- the ones likely to betray you for their own goals were Kazari and Ankh.

Uva, Gamel, and Mezool understood the concept of allies quite well.

However people went 'Fuck her, she's a GREEED!' and kept pushing her and acting antagonistic when she gave us a power boost and was willing to help us out.

But, here's the important thing- we have three other people who are allies. THREE. And because we pissed in Mezool's cornflakes we can't even temporarily boost our abilities until we reach the point we don't need her anymore.

We should have done like we just with Emily- try to reign in the problem and then get rid of it when we're stronger. Otherwise, we should have sticking with the character we showed when we met Mezool, which means we would have fought Emily after insulting and rejecting her for being a psycho traitor bitch.

But we didn't because we realized we were in the worse position and bluffed. And honestly, Emily's probably the worse of the two and we're working with her because pragmatism.

Which is what we should have done with Mezool because we are not in a strong enough position to dictate terms to anybody at this current time. What we should do is suck it up, try to get the best deal we can, and drop her like a bad habit when he have the ability to do so.
>>
>>28172229
You do remember that mezool dropped Gamel the second she didn't need him anymore, right? Because she did.
And the problem with that is that mezool's power boost is literally the quick and easy path. We don't get anything from it, we just end up relying on it instead of actually trying to gain our own power.
I'm fine walking out to fight King with my head high, a heart full of justice and red flare form. If we're lucky, eternal will accept us. If not at least we die without being mezool's bitch.

No the second we go groveling back is the second we have sealed our fate in death.
We need to keep moving forward here and that might mean ditching our current memory and/or belt.

...what if Advent Deck? That shit seems fairly easy to come by, usually fucks up a large area and allows you to just go POOF when pursued.
>>
>>28177200
Advent decks are good, but they slap a highlander rule on you. Pretty much dragging you into the Rider War.
>>
>>28177200

Yes, and if you don't kill a constant stream of Mirror Monsters or other Riders, the Advent monster pops out of your deck and eats you to sustain itself, instead. Being completely reliant on the type of enemies they'll throw at us or on killing other Riders we might be able to end up befriending will, in no possible way, ever backfire. The deck itself is good but the drawbacks are very much not worth it unless there's Mirror Monsters in the city a-plenty, which is a whole different problem entirely.

Our best bet at 100% independence is probably evolving as an Agito of sorts and hope we don't end up with Gills, hoping we're a Gate and resist despair when we're driven into it, or getting our hands on a Showa Rider's belt, which lack the versatility we'd have as a Heisei-era Rider. Another option would be to be the host to Core Medals that don't have a consciousness in them yet/anymore and hope to God we keep ourselves together through most of the body horror changes.
>>
>>28177516
>Advent decks are good, but they slap a highlander rule on you. Pretty much dragging you into the Rider War.
Yes, but I was under the impression we weren't exactly able to quit anyway, thus rendering that drawback nigh-inconsequential.
>>
>>28177200

>And allows you to just go POOF when pursued

Actually, you have to enter the real world again from the same mirror as you left it from, or you're stranded in the Mirror World forever. The only exception to this rule was in Decade's AU of Ryuki, which this universe isn't using as *every* Rider could enter the Mirror World in Decade's AU rather than just Advent Deck users.
>>
>>28177529
...disregard that, I suck cocks. The food is too specific to be worth it, and while they like killing they AFAIR can't become satiated with regular people (i.e what non-Advent Riders would count as) while under a contract or way more Riders would have just picked off civvies off the street, which even Asakura didn't (the people on the ship were just bait to lure the trio AFAIR).

>hoping we're a Gate and resist despair
Would be really, really sweet. Tons of versatile abilities and upgrades although we'd need a jeweler.
The KR system in Wizard is heavily implied to be the result of magic and science fusing. We therefore might even be able to improvise and just use magic the Fantasy way if worst comes to worst.
>>28177627
>Actually, you have to enter the real world again from the same mirror as you left it from, or you're stranded in the Mirror World forever.

On the episodes Inoue did.

If we die, hopefully we become an orphenoch. Revenge plus the ability to use smart brain belts.
>>
>>28177763

Well, to become an Orpenoch you have to either be sired by one, which has a very, very, VERY high mortality rate, or sometimes it just sort of happens during critical junctures in your life. I'm not too sure on the latter one, though, since I haven't finished Faiz yet, am not too far in either, but the one time it did happen was a bit of a case where you can't exactly tell what induced the change exactly, only what caused the guy who did it to spazz out into Orphenoch form. I haven't seen what allows the protagonists to use the belts either, so I assume they either have the potential to survive a siring or are Orphenochs. And Kaixa's existence makes that hard to pin down as well, since it allows anyone who uses it to transform but just kills them if they don't match the required profile afterwards.

If we do want the SmartBrain route, we'll want Delta, the sole belt a human can safely use. It does, however, have the side effect of giving whatever human using it some... powers? From what I understand? And has some negative influences on their psyche. Not too sure either. The info on Delta is a little second-hand so don't take it as gospel just yet. I'll confirm/deny once I finish the show or get up to the relevant part.
>>
>>28177872
There are two types of orphenoch: Sired, which happen when certain people survive an orphenoch attack and Original who are born when certain people die a violent death and ressurected into orphenochs. Sired are also weaker then original, but since we're nowhere near smart brain territory, we probably won't at risk of becoming a sired.
As well, most smart brain belts require orphenoch DNA to use. Or for the user to drink Henshin One Shot beforehand. But using Henshin One Shot destroys the belt once the transformation is over.

I just remembered there's one more possibility I forgot, one more we could take and it'd be even more in-character than anything else we could be getting outside of straight-up Rider-1 or something. One that fits our antagonist-tendencies stand-offish JUSTICE-inspired heart to a T.

I like to imagine Rider-1 is in some lost and heavily forsaken corner of the globe kickfucking things that are not true friends of justice. IE: The old grizzled mentor if we ever meet him.

Alternatively he may just end up being the one of the most brutal warlords around. Everything's up in the air this quest.
