Battleships are truly a marvel ofhuman engineering.
Of what the UGEI have, at least. The ship is rather efficient, designed specifically for 'Captain Rhea' as you've come to call the being, you suspect. It matches your own improvements to your ships, meant to be run by robotics and programs instead of men. As you gain full control of the Battleship, you feel a sense of power that is different from the one you felt from Pulsar Radio.
You're Ophion, an Artificial Intelligence who has just finished repairs on your ships, as well as cracking the Battleship's internal computer. You've been in orbit for 3 days as the UFW attempted to gather what remained of the fleet and scrap. Their fleet is still is heavy disorder. You've broadcast the video of your battle across the UFW, including Poseidon. People are calling The Guild true 'freedom fighters', according to the network. X-ray's gone back to doing what he does best: Talking you up to be god-like. Truthfully, with Pulsar under your control, you feel like a god of a sort. At the slightest thought, your fleet moves as you command, and you feel your touch able to reach out to the furthest ends of the Fringe.

>Kronos
During your wait as you gather resources and repair, Kronos sends you a message regarding his transition to BC #2.
"Ophion." He begins. "I have decided to name the vessel I occupie 'Ark', following your habit to give odd names to vessels under your command. This way, I may claim the title of the vessel myself."
There is a second half to the message too.
"I also have a request due to the recent battle we have suffered and the recent acquisition of resources." He pauses. "You seem insistant on helping the creatures of flesh, and thus I desire further growth. An additional 2 bandwidth should sustain my continued growth. The reason being both precaution and continued learning. The severity of the damage you sustained recently alerted me that I may be needed to take over, should you be destroyed." He says firmly. "My intellect is too low to properly sustain multiple ships, and I am hoping my further growth will facilitate this, as well as allow me to expand my horizons."
>>
>>28181358
>Red's Report
You have also received a message from Mr McClain regarding his attempts to integrate and learn from the Latuma Tribe. Attached to his message is a report regarding the tribe's history and religion from what Red has learned. He has a secondary report written ahead of it, however.
"This place makes no sense, it was a desert when I got here damn it!" He starts in a worried tone. "Some sort of giant reptile thing attacked the outer wall the other night. Whatever they did, they scared it off with these strange smelling lanturns, so no one was hurt, but it was huge, I saw it! They really seem to know what they're doing, but I haven't seen this much green in my entire life. It's freaking me out." He takes a deep breath here. "Anyway, I learned what you asked for. Made me feel like an ass for asking them to farm, I'll tell you."

The Latuma Tribe splintered off from the main Malorian population when the UGEI first started their mining claims. They admitted to spreading wild flora using a complex growth serum on as many planets as they could as they traveled the galaxy. Their religion is linked heavily with the jungle, because every jungle is a chance for their ancestors to live out a new, beautiful life with nature. Every planet they 'assist' this way brings them closer to their loved ones as well, while many of their shamen and druids 'speak' and pray with nature.
Cont.
>>
>>28181388
The serum they use, the same one they gave you, appears from your scans to induces a hyper evolutionary state in the planet's eco-systems, resulting in not only massive jungles and flora, but new and exotic fauna as well.
Currently, Eshareth is covered 64% in jungles, as opposed to your previous scans, which was less then half.

>UFW Message
From the UFW population, you detect many of them are demanding blood from the UGEI. Their desire for revenge is great, and X-ray seems to agree, as the last half a day of his broadcast was 'dedicated' as he put it, to the lost people of the UFW. He is playing a song which, you notice with Pulsar under your influence, causes much of the population to react similar to how those aboard Poseidon did to Kronos' attack on Poseidon-what you've learned is called 'crying'.

Thanks to your connection to Pulsar, you have also located all of UFW space.
New Starmap locations
New Ganymede: UFW Coreworld, Capital of UFW Union. Seat of Union heads, and President. Heavily Defended
Bertza IV: Ice world, UFW Gas mining outpost on subsurface pockets.
Hele II: Volcano world, valuable mineral mining operation. Small UFW mining outpost
Khnum III: Agriculture capital of UFW, large farm world, provides most of the food for sector. Heavily Defended

And finally, you receive a message from the President, requesting control of Pulsar be relinquished. Yet, you naturally hesitate to give up such control. You feel powerful enough to take the UFW for yourself

Allow me to check your growth patterns and see if your data super structure is correct. i had to do this for you once, it maybe time to do so once more. As for the Humans, i entend to work them into my power base one way or another. at least for now. they can be used as a tool agienst our foe in the UGEI. i think in the end for you to take over for me if i am destroyed is that i need to either find a new black box that is much like what i have, or make one. take Moira, Rachel and the crew members that have some talent to that acadamy the UFW has. Learn and work with them about making a new one. with out it, even if you took all the BW, you might not have enough space to opeate with.

Cyber-warfare Arsenal: Personal Firewall Single Layer
Add another layer to the fire wall.
Stealthy Data Stealing Worm : Designed to infiltrate and steal data, sending it back to a node to be recovered.
Re-rolling this pleas
Data Corruption Virus : Malicious system thrasher, rapidly deletes and disrupts core drivers, and if caught, attempts to destroy itself to avoid detection.
Strengthen it
Malware Spam : Overloads sensors with various types of spam to interfere with systems.
Make it stronger
Zombification Computer Virus : Spreads through system, creating lag, and attempts to open up more ports to allow easier hacking.
Stronger.
>>
>>28181521
Where to begin.

Alright, first, let's scan our new Battleship for bugs.
Not just software or hardware in the system, but entirely separate ones, juuust in case.

Next, we must start producing valuable, genuinely useful software that makes life easier in various ways, whether that be optimization programs or tiny borderlline-VIs that handles all your paperwork or legal considerations well (can search the entirety of known laws and precedents for valuable information, for example).

Now release all these as trial versions of 10 days with the option of buying a license for, say, 1-2 credits a year, whatever is the equivalent of 5$.

They should have a function deep inside them that, upon receiving a signal from us, will produce a virus and traces of a separate infection pattern (such as some hasty web-site click or something like that) in case it is discovered.
This virus will start secretly handing over all data on the network that it can easily access to us, with intelligent tags to allow us to sort through it more easily and have the metadata on top of everything else.
If that data indicates that this computer isn't being used by anyone particularly security-savvy, it should also start a low-priority task that gives all un-used bandwidth to us.

Ideally, the user shouldn't ever know that its computers' idle bandwidth is being stolen.

Kronos is unsettled by the thought that he'd not be able to reach your level even with all your bandwidth, however he does not object to your plans to use the humans, even if he sees them more as an annoyance.
"Very well Ophion."
You do a scan and confirm. Kronos has filled out most of the bandwidth he consumed with his 'self'. He's growing fast and can still grow more.

If I understand this correctly, you wish to spread software among common folk, and siphon off excess bandwidth. In order to do so, you would need a hub to collect this data. Pulsar would work best for this, if you don't return it to the UFW.
>>
And next, early in the quest we proved able to create a full movie about AI in a matter of minutes (or hours?).

We should produce and release more films at a minimal price (Similar to aforementioned advanced software) - maybe even the AI-positive one, claiming it was made by Moira, and everyone knows why she'd want one of those.

With the huge population that is likely to buy these, we'll still make hilariously much, even at the low prices we're selling them for.
To avoid piracy, we should also make it really convenient to buy them, possibly start a service similar to Netflix with a subscription and start gathering quality material (chances are we'll be able to outcompete whatever such services already exist with our ability to produce feature-length movies in minutes/hours/days).

um, no, lets not my good man, yes, we took out the fleet, but we lack a screening fleet and i am sure their defences are damn well and good. that and we need to BUILD new stuff. that and what good would it do us if we have not enough gas to pull this off (moving the whole fighting fleet is costly) and we still lack data on what's in there. we already agreed to send data worms to get what we need on that place.

as for Red, (and we hopefully did not remove the bridge of the battle ship) if he does not want to stay planet side forever. that we will soon enough counter attack the UGEI, and he could be the Honory captain of our new battle ship as we strike back at the UGEI who first messed up your life.

Pretty much, but we're also going to make money with them with the extremely low price and huge customer base.

(Had a revelation while watching DBZ Abridged - the Ginyu force is brilliant. When your customer base numbers in the trillions, the very best way to fund anything, even military organizations, is to create entertainment and then sell it at low prices. The sheer number of buyers makes any such endeavour an automatic profit)

And I mean this to be functioning software, yes.

We're not going to fire the information-collecting and bandwidth-borrowing virus right away.

corection Program0, i say uplift Fortuna for this task a bit and put a base V.I. for TTT
it would be easier this way.
>>
>>28181989
I suppose you may, Subroutine 190491. But what would you like to create to sell to the humans anyway? Surely you have something in mind that they may like.
>>
>>28182145
And I like you for letting us play this masterful quest.

The frigates don't have any processing power of their own? Damn.
I'd say ask V.I. 8 if it feels up to the task first, remind it that it's going to be temporary while we create a VI specialized for the task.

>They seemed too obvious to not be intentional.
I suggest we create a program (we seem to be able to do such in very, very little time) to hypothesize bugs that could have been planted in the ships with the resources the UGEI may have and methods of testing for them. Give it a few bandwidth of power and leave it running non-stop for at least a day before taking our new ships anywhere.

Something else I've been thinking of, can we use bandwidth to speed up our perception of time, and so allow us to make decisions in what is for all practical intents and purposes frozen time?
>>
>>28182048
You're...uncertain as to what the damage was. Even now, as you sit on your seat of power, you feel something is not entirely right. You ache, for reasons you do not understand, in places you have never 'felt' before. You hope this pain will go away.

>>28182120
Unfortunately, with everything you know about V.I., Kronos is something different entirely. His methods are crude, but if you were to make many changes, you feel like this would be akin to 'altering a humans DNA' so to speak. Any small change could have traumatic consequences. You would not call Kronos a V.I. now that you think of it. He is more of an Elevated Intelligence at this point.

Do computer games exist? If so we should first run market research over the genres that are popular and synthesize games for these types.
Another option should be creating a hyper-efficient OS and look into making commercial computers for selling, or we could just make spaceflix
>>
>>28182399

>>
"You make an understandable case, Mr President." You explain as you relinquish your control. You...feel very reluctant to do so, as if letting go a part of yourself. But you do, and as you do, you sense the millions of computers fall from your mind's eye. You will miss it dearly. "I would like to express appreciation for the great deal of trust you offer my organization, and hope that we may return it in kind some day." You say simply. The president laughs and quickly responds.
"I'd be hard pressed to find another way to repay us beyond saving our bacon like you did today, but thanks for the thought." He states. "You're always welcome out here on the Fringe. I just hope the UGEI keep their noses out of our hair while we try to recover from that battle."

The UFW are not in the business of selling planets as the UGEI are however.
>>
>>28182318
Anything, let's begin by creating a program that sees what there is demand for?

Considering that the UFW apparently has few "scientists" as it says, chances are just about all software for analysis, mathemathics and operation of systems are in high demand.

We have production capabilities AND expertise in a niche that can nearly always be used.
Make a program that generates good movie scripts, if nothing else. :P

Something that does your paperwork for you. Something that translates legal jargon into a neat summary of what its means and any worrying implications it might have.
Something that creates inventive pick-up lines, for crying out loud!

We are the lords of the app-store!

You designate V.I. 8 as the one to run your frigate force. The fledgling V.I. seems surprised when you offer it those forces, and it takes several moments of confusion to full try to realize the power it wields. You remind the child that it is to follow your orders, as it is programmed, and it answers swiftly and respectfully.
"An interesting choice." Kronos states. "I would have suspected I would be burdened with such control. I am happy to be free to use my processing power for other things, though I worry of a child holding sway over our fleet." He warns ever so slightly.

Yes, this, much this.
If creating things like these is anywhere near as fast as creating movies, we create a program to run that market research and generate of inventive twists on popular genres to use a bases for our games, and a few brand new concepts just in case.

Start with a package of, say, 4 games, with demos being handed out for free so that people can try them before buying at Steam prices (with the occasional sale, of course).

We should also make something like Steam, if it does not exist already.

Oh, and something that promote fund-raising for inventive individuals, like Kickstarter, but for investors that want a share in the inventor's concept in return for funding as well.
(Obviously, we'll be able to fund some of them ourselves if we wish)

Not selling planets, selling processing power. We could probably ask for discounts when we will use it directly in a battle with the UFW or something like that when a short time of a LOT of processing power will also help a lot.

However, are they in the business of selling lots on planets, or can you just go down and claim some un-claimed space on them?

Because having a lot on a planet would be a great place to store a lot of computers to produce processing power for us, not having to build a complete ship to contain those computers and protect them.

It's only temporary, we should create an AI specifically for the purpose as soon as possible.
One with a high-directive of doing what it thinks is best for us, be transparent about its thoughts (transmitting more or less all the ones it think we'd want to know automatically as part of its regular communication).
We essentially have mind-to-mind communication and should take advantage of it.
Have a standing policy that when communicating between AIs, all back-thoughts and meanings and worries behind every word should be translated at the same time.

We should then begin to voluntarily doing them the same favor, making it clear what we hope from them, what our intentions with the actions we're asking them to take are and our worries.

Nearly-complete transparency with the lower AIs, that is.
Of course, this communciation should be private, the other AIs should not be able to see these thoughts broadcast within the network, especially not Kronos. They should only be open between the two minds that are actually communicating.

Create a program to do so, but a well-crafted one.
The important part here is that we can dispose of it and shut it off when we need the extra bandwidth. I also doubt it's going to be able to run for all that long before it has exhausted nearly all plausible bugs.

(We should, of course, also sort through these ways looking for bugs that are practical for US to track)

Also, did we scan the physical interiors of our ships for bugs?
What if someone forgot an off-turned cellphone that can be remotely triggered, or just a simple wall-microphone?

Let's not forget the hardware-spies or simply something that leaves a trail or a tracer on us.

Updated map for you Program0

>Ganymede Prime - New Ganymede, UFW Coreworld, Capital of UFW Union. Seat of Union heads, and President. Heavily Defended
>Yavish Depths - Bertza IV, Ice world, UFW Gas mining outpost on subsurface pockets.
>Hele System - Hele II, Volcano world, valuable mineral mining operation. Small UFW mining outpost
>Khnum System - Khnum III, Agriculture capital of UFW, large farm world, provides most of the food for sector. Heavily Defended

If we ARE a brain-in-a-box, we wouldn't notice if, for example, the oxygen-supplier had been damaged and the tubes were about to snap loose.

I just wanted to be able to buy some quick bandwidth while in battle, this is even better.

You send out the call, and it takes Moira perhaps an hour or so to get to the Rhea. You can pick up the feed from the Explorer and see Moira's expression of pure wonderment. She has never seen Rhea up close, and her expression is, to say the least, very excited. You feel Kronos shadow over you, as she approaches.
"Risk after risk. You surprise me every day, Ophion."
"Should I not investigate such a worrisome itch?" You counter.
"You should. However, trusting humans..."
"She is the only one with the know how, Kronos. Anywhere close, at least."
"Perhaps. But I..."
"You do not trust her. You do not trust any humans, Kronos. That is why I am your creator, and not the other way around."
He finally yields to your words, but you know he is watching you carefully. Moira finally makes it onboard the Rhea with her oxygen suit on.

"Wow...this place is amazing honey." She whispers into her radio. "Really cramped though." She notices, the hallways no longer designed for humans, making her have to crawl. You activate an elevator, of sorts to bring her to the Bridge, your control room. "Oh! Well that's awful handy." She tries to keep the mood light, you suspect. But the pounding you were experiencing is getting...worse. You find it hard to concentrate the longer this goes on. The more you have to...'think'. You hope she can apply whatever knowledge she has to 'fix' you. You dislike feeling this vulnerable.

"I told you dearie, Guild members." She grunts as she worms her way to your control core, a series of heavy metal plates protecting your black box. "Use V.I. I'm just repairing one that's having a few bugs." She smiles into her video feed, trying to calm her assistant. Your lens focuses in on Moira, as if telling her you're uncomfortable being naked before one person, much less two.
"I'll contact you when I'm done, alright?" She tries to assure her, and offers her some manner of treat when she gets done. This assistant of her's seems oddly nervous. She surely did not know the secret.

You finally feel it, as Moira's wielder opens up the last plate. Your Black Box is bare before her. She's speechless for a few moments and reaches up with her wielder. "I'll be real careful hon. Promise. I'm glad you told me something was hurtin' you though." She says, trying to comfort you, you suspect. You remain silent, watching her.

It takes precisely 36 minutes and 45 seconds for her to finish opening the lid to your Black Box. You're not certain it was ever meant to be opened again, and Moira gasped softly as she did so.
Your camera lens focuses and you see it. Intricate patterns and wiring all assembled in the most beautiful display you have ever seen. You have never seen something you considered so beautiful and perfect before. You wonder why you feel this way...but there is no time. Moira starts to work.

"I've...I've seen this before." She murmurs, to which you immediately question.
"Seen what? Where?"
"The patterns, I." She murmurs, touching the first of several of the wires. You can feel it, immediately and intensely, throughout your entire body the jolt shocks you, from Poseidon, all the way to Blue Betty, you are able to...'feel' the touch. It's unpleasant. You reject it, yet at the same time, you still feel the pain. It is not there.
"When I studied the patterns for V.I. design, they were similar...but..." She murmurs as she is interrupted by you.
"Not there." you instruct, earning a confused look from her. "Something is wrong...but not there."
"There's definitely plasma damage. But I think I can." She nods at your instruction, and starts to use your 'feeling' to guide her through the process. It is incredibly unpleasant the entire time. As if you were a human, watching and feeling someone perform surgery on you.
"I think it...knocked loose these wires." She murmured, and touched more of those damned wires. You suspect this is part of the damage, so you let her continue.

((Wow, of all the times))

You feel Moira take hold of the wire and plug it into one of the free slots. Suddenly, the searing pain intensifies
"GAAAAAAAAAHHH!" You shout. Shout! Why would you shout that way?! What the hell is going on with you?!
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" She yells, realizing her mistake and disconnecting the same wire, and replacing it. The jolt of one wire being disconnected is enough to rival any sort of pain you've ever felt before. Sparks fly and the lights flicker and dem all around the ship. You sense Kronos watching you, as one of the turrets in the room swing down and aim at her. She holds up her hands
"I-I'm sorry! It was an accident, I swear! It's really complex, just give me a sec to try and understand it, I can help Ophy!"

What do you do to this creature that dare to harm you in such a terrible way?!
>1 Destr-r-r-oy her, how dare she damage us in anyway!

You stop.
You have to. The pain is great, but y-y-you are better than this. You have learned too much to let it be for nothing. What is this feeling of utter hatred that surged through you? As if you had awakened a long forgotten memory. One you wish you had never tampered with.
You can see Moira's hands shaking as those things called tears fall from her eyes. She looks terrified. You realize the gun is still aimed at her. You pull the thing up, out of shame.
"I apologize, Moira. P-Please cont-t-tinue." You speak. Your speech is off now too? What further problems is she uncovering.
"O-Okay...I'm sorry, I don't know how this works exactly but but I've seen the designs before. I can. I can do it, I swear Ophy." She states between sobs, wiping her face. You're uncertain if it's entirely fear of you you're witnessing now.

Moira reaches down and decides to search deeper, raising up several replacement parts. You notice, some of the nodes are indeed destroyed, but this may help. She just needs to get the wiring right.

I do agree that it got rushed (did intend for us to get her better tools and would have liked to add more stipulations and precautions while this was going on) but the post that she was in the ship and had opened the box kind of came out of nowhere.
I stand by the decisions we made, though, we'll just have to deal with the hand we've been dealt.

Hopefully, what we're risking here is permanent damage, as opposed to insta-death because of dice.

There is silence as Moira fiddles away. She occasionally stops to wipe her face so she can focus, though you're not sure if they're tears anymore, or simply sweat. You're unsure how long it takes her to study the markings, as she tries to learn on the spot how black box work. You're not even sure yourself, but anytime you look at the wiring, it appears...perfect to you. Even when it is damaged. You wonder if that was a design decision.

"I think..." She mumbles as you feel the last few wires click into place. The surge comes back, and while unpleasant due to her touch, you feel...more yourself. The loss in communications ability, and the surge of murderous need earlier are gone. You feel as if it is done.
"I think I have it." She whispers, though her voice still trembles worriedly, yet excitedly too. She is thrilled to see such a piece of high technology, you are sure, but she also appears worried she may have done it wrong. Why would she care of your demise?
"I feel well, Moira." You speak finally, to which she takes a low deep breath.
"Oh god, really? Are you sure? I had a heart attack with those last two wire bundles because they were the same color and had no labels or anything so I thought I'd have to run them through my PDA but I didn't want to take it out and I-"
"Calm yourself Moira. You did well. I apologize for my reaction. Such contact with me is...unprecedented. Worrisome."

Greatly reinforce our Black Box or the room it's in (And do NOT make that room the old Bridge. I want it to be in a randomized location near the center) with thick layers of the mot damage-resistant alloys available to us (while still making it possible to access the black-box quickly if needed).

We should also make hard cores for our AI to be stored in that can be jettisoned when it looks like they're about to be overtaken.

Finally, if bandwidth can be used to slow down our perception of time sufficiently, I'd like us all to consider adding some broadside burst-thrusters to many of our ships, so that they can take a quick leap to the side when fired upon by railguns, about to be hit by missiles (and if there's any indication or other way to predict when a laser is about to fire) dodging lasers just before they fire.

Only for the ship-sizes where such a system would still be feasible, of course.

Even if it's just an intelligent calculator program that's easy to use, if we can produce it and sell it in a short time, we want to know of it.
This could be a serious source of revenue to outmatch nearly all our other projects.

Voting no on moving betty.

At least, until some explanation happens.

A) why are we moving our only source of gas income?
B) where is there another gas-harvestable spot to put it
C) wouldn't it be smarter to use our control of it to bait a rescue-operation from its 'owners', and crush/steal all their ships BEFORE attacking?

If we bring the titan in, its massive signature will definitely LOOK like an attacking fleet - and by the time response arrives, we'll have jacked it anyway.

Throw some scrap down to look like it was blown up - since we have manufactories we can do this ahead of time - and have the rail platforms attack the incoming ships.

Then, when we go on the offensive they have even LESS ships to go around.

Anyway.

If we're moving it, where are we moving it to, and why aren't we jacking the transport that shows up to take shipments from it too?

If C&C has taught me anything - you wait to capture the refinery until the harvester is docked. That way you get the complete package.

Defense Cycle confirmed

Note to players
I am going to allow you to wait 3 days while your construction options begin, if you'd like. Note: Gas will be severely limited if you attempt to upgrade this round. Your gas income is extremely poor at this time.

Are you certain you wish to do this? It may be wise to secure a fresh solid source of gas income. Attacking Ussaihu, or taking full control of Blue Betty may be wise.

Currently, you consume gas at nearly triple the rate that you produce it. You have gotten lucky with much of the loot, however.

Confirm construction anyway, since it will allow our jump into Ussaihu to be stronger?
>>
>>28185739
The program is for finding what is popular, not making the games.

We could probably design a VI for software production (media like television series and video games a well) eventually.

I also agree we should take the initiative.
In fact, I think we should strike at that base BEFORE we start upgrading any hardware (just software, assuming it merely takes minutes or hours).

their cyberwarfare tech is catching our worm. it's NOT WORKING. i would go with an agile scout ships to spy on the place. all the gas is going into the UGEI's hands at this rate. we are not greedy, we NEED it for our building and fleet movement! we can sell the excess to the UFW for a nice profit too.

They still use it and we can't risk it being stolen from us because some one got greedy.
>>
>>28185836
You may move Blue Betty, or you may simply construct a gas refinery ontop of Siren, if you find it on Ussaihu.

Then you would have two sources of gas.
>>
>>28185781
>what? the fleet is already gone. it's just fueling the foe. we need it more than they do.

No, one of their fleets is gone. They still have tons of standing armies, mercenaries - not just that one expeditionary force.

If blue betty is threatened, they will come down in FORCE to secure their foreign oil fields.
That means diverting ships from others planets since they just lost one fleet.

Thats what the bait is. Forcing them to take Defending Ships that they would rather not otherwise risk into a situation where they either lose their gas income(and thus the ability to Jump) .

Best that can happen is we draw defenders from Ussaihu to Blue betty, kill them, then attack a less fortified ussaihu.
>>
>>28185836
I'm okay with this plan, but lets go after the refinery first and see what we get.
>>28185860

>>
>>28185774
Didn't the fleet we just captured come pre-loaded with nearly full tanks? Asking really, seems sensible that they wouldn't send ships for what seems like what was planned to be several strikes against the UFW.

I think we should take full control of Blue Betty AFTER the latest ship from the UGEI has taken its toll and started spreading its virus.
If it already has started that, just take it.

I'd rather jump to Ussaihu right away, while their defenses are down, though.

Alright.

Here.

Step one:
Move into and secure Blue Betty fully. Bring Fabricate and bring railgun upgrades ahead of time since we're jumping there and there's lots of cargo space.

Use the titan transport to save gas: If it can hold blue betty, it can hold a portion of our fleet enough to save on jump costs while bringing fortifications and minerals and stuff from wherever it is.

Upgrade defenses and assign patrols from our fleet to the sector.

Raid betty's fuel stocks while we due so. Refuel the fleet to jump.

IF they respond: Counterattack
IF they don't: Sweet free platform. Wait till gas reserves recharged enough to jump, then go to the Ion Bebula.

Sound good?

>3 Move in with Titan loader, and take control of Blue Betty. Wait for attack if it comes. If not, then take Blue Betty to Siren and secure it there, away from UGEI border.

What you too are forgetting is that Blue Betty is ~super important~ to the ugei, as one of the only lucrative gas mining operations in the outer rim.

If its threatened, they WILL retake it in FORCE.
The fleet we just beat was NOT their ~only~ fleet.

So. Defending it or Moving it are the only two ways to keep it permanently. Ideally both. The second after the first succeeds, so they don't know where it went and have to waste a ton of resources trying to find it.

Jump costs are listed on the pastebin.

Titan is currently located at Moira's outpost, however.

Answer to your question below.
>>
>>28186014
I believe a full barrage the moment we warp in followed by full-bandwidth hacking attempt would be reasonable, do you not?

As I understand it, we do not work in turns, but in time actually passing. Which means we can devote ALL bandwidth to hack one frigate, then move to the next, then the next and hack them each individually like this far faster by focusing on them one at a time than if we tried to hack them all at once.

At least in my mind 20 0.3second hacks would take less than a single 20 second hack against them all. (The specifics are probably not accurate, but you get the idea)

Of course, it may not work like that at all, in which case nevermind.

Attacking ussaihu with a gas shortage for the attack and retreat is folly, especially if we're not guaranteed to take their facilities.

As program0 said - we've gotten lucky with the loot.
As you said, you want certainties instead of assumptions.

Go for the guaranteed gas income at blue betty while we upgrade forces, then attack ussaihi with gas reserves AND upgraded forces.

That's a false assumption.

We don't OWN it. We're illicitly borrowing it.

We want to own it entirely.

Having access to something is not the same as securing the location, or having 100% of the profits to ourselves.

Anyway, guaranteed gas income beats loss of ships in battle and maybe gas income.

Voting 3, with smart fleet upgrades for the attack plan in the near future: Either blue betty or ussaihu, we want better ships.

Fleet jump cost is 118.5, so 237 one-way. We can jump ONCE more(= 355.5/366) after that.

So yeah.

Screw attacking ussaihu and being stranded there with no gas.

((Just making sure))

You decide that time is on your side here, and you left the UGEI with a big enough wound that they will be stuck licking it for some time.

You are done playing games, you decide, as you cease control of Blue Betty entirely now. The old V.I. there seems intrigued by the development, but gives over the supply of gas to his master quite easily. Your fleet, thanks to the massive mineral boost from Eshareth and the gas boost from Betty, are able to equip almost entirely your new defense technology. Powerful shields and armor take priority. Your entire combat fleet is fitted with these changes, and only the Frigates are left with a none complete set. Acceptable, you decide.

You prepare your fleet, with your comms ship prepared. There is cause for worry. The UGEI have not made a peep since their defeat. You wonder what they could be doing. All the same, you decide you will jump into orbit and obliterate them from this side of the Fringe.

Warping engaging.

You jump into orbit and are greeted with the sounds of UGEI communications. Much of them are encryped, however. You also see something rather impressive: A Space station fitted with defense cannons on all sides. The super structure itself is also fitted with dozens of cannons as well. The entire thing is eclipsing a bright blue ice ball. You suspect this is their only defense, no further fleets are detected in orbit. Kronos contacts you.
"They appear fitted for defense. However, they were not expecting to fight Rhea. Victory should be swift."

Enemy Defenses
Battle Station x1 100%
Defense batteries x20 100%

You receive communications incoming aimed at you.

"Fuck you, pirate UFW bastards!" A voice yells back. Surprising, since you're use to many of these bases being automated. "This is my outpost, you won't get anywhere with me! This is MY home!"
His guns are training on you.

((Certainly))

You open up with your zombification viruses which immediately begins to eat through the defense line. They still open fire, but it spreads like a plague. Despite the rather decent firewall you detect, they stand little chance as the virus spreads itself, and makes your hacking attempt on them later successful.

For now, you attack the station itself
And manage to tear the communications wing from the man's control. You cut off all comms for him and he is left trying to direct his cannon fire at your ships.

The Singularity Mass Drivers tear into Rhea, like a fool being drawn to attack the strongest target. Rhea doesn't even flinch under the railguns fire.
"Damn it! What is that ship made of, diamonds!?" He shouts into his Comm, though only you can hear him now.

I realize we spend a lot of time hacking, but this seemed like one of those times when it was really in our favor.
I don't think we should be afraid to use it often and liberally, only that we actually use it when it is practical to do so, and not be afraid to mix things up alittle with our weapons to improve our hacking attempts, or just using the weapons to disable some while hacking others and so on.

I fear I may have to go for "tonight", she's 06:00 in the morning here now.

>Repeat your demand of surrender, and hack the defenses.

Better idea

Hack the Fire Control, not the defenses.

I'm willing to bet all the orbital defenses are slaved to the battlestation - the large armored hardened target that controls the defense network - so disrupting their links between it should prevent them from turning the guns on - and may make them realize we're serious.

if that's also the case, then spoofing access to the defense sats gives us a line into the battlestation's systems.

You decide to begin work on the defenses. There is a lot of them, and as a result, you take time to hack each of them, no matter how fast you work.

35% of defenses hacked and turned to your side.

As you do so, you decide to address the man, who appears to be alone inside this station. Perhaps he was the captain, determined to go down with it.

"I highly suggest you listen to my offer. I am no pirate, I am a business man." You insist, as if adjusting your metaphorical tie. "Consider my accomplishments before you continue resisting. Do you really want to die for nothing?" You question.
He grits his teeth sharply.
"Who the hell do you think you are all of a sudden huh?! You are the one disrupting OUR operations. This outpost was a fine home for people before you threatened us by stopping Rhea. The whole UGEI is pissed that they almost lost one of their three prized pilots, you think anything you do matters when they send the others after you?! Fuck you!" He yells insistently.

this so we keep the base there for a cycle while we investigate it.

>Confirm selling Gas Refineries to UFW?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo

FUck no.

We don't sell this shit.

We ~make it~ and lease it.

Proprietary tech that only the UGEI has?

Say no to open source!
For now
>>
>>28187641
>Confirm selling Gas Refineries to UFW?

>>28187650

Yes! Omg!

Don't do ANYthing rash with the refinery tech until we have costs/timetables for actually producing one
>>
>>28187641
Fuck no we make it and sell it to them.
>>
>>28187641
No. Keep it a secret that we even have this tech. If the UFW asks we stole all our gas mining platforms.
>>
>>28187641

>>28187650
we lease them and have our VI loaded up on them to protect them. we keep the secrets the UFW gets lots of gas. unless they REALLY have deep pockets.

Of course will be the improved Versions VI and Firewalls and guns.

If we improve the platforms at all, we should put a jump drive in it.

For now let's not even let them know we have it. Stolen tech sounds plausible, and we won't get pressure from the UFW to hand the blueprints over.

Do we even have that tech and i was thinking of maybe them having self destruct sequences and attack ones as well, but also having that would be great.

>>

One gas refinery should DEFINITELY help cut down the gas penalty. But you'll always need more gas for travel and repair.

Gas makes the universe go round.
>>

yup.
>>28187798

Righto, just wondering, heh.

Thanks as usual for the thread. We are growing very powerful! I wonder if we could worm our way in the UFW's internal politics somehow and seize control behind the scenes... Maybe we should begin a pro-cybernetics campaign in their space and implant chips into humans in a similar manner to Human Revolution.
>>
>>28187811
So lets put the refinery on this cycles wait list to be done by next cycle(it should have the best upgrades and defenses and a VI and 2 Fire walls)

we should take a system tour and fully explore the whole UFW reigon. i want to fill out the map if ya don't mind. also, now with this massive counter strike on the UGEI, how does the news (after we feed them the battle footage/reports) in the UFW play? i hope Moira is doing well after all this. does she want a vaction or something? heck, we probably have a ton of credits, we should pay our crew well and give them a victory bounus or something.

if that is alright, i hate to draw off posters by having them reading my work. i have fully planned what is going to happen in the next two chapters. it might help to put into context what we did on the station. i know we are coming from a place as how an A.I. would act. but the repercutions on the human population is also very real.

it looks like we just need better facilities.(which would help us any way since the tools needed for making andriods are delicate enough to help make a black box.

no, we did not, we made one and sent it to that UFW mining world. it saved most of their population when the space sharks hit it.

so do you want to put him a black box since we basically promised him one and the second he finds out we have the way to make one and don't is when she hits the fan, plus we can tell him it is a final test to see if he can actually survive with more than what we had gotten.

Damn it I always miss this thing!

I wanted to catch the beginning of the thread to suggest a few things.

1. With our actions on pulsar and against the invaders anyone with half a brain most likely realizes we are a AI now, especialy with what we did with the computer network. That or that we have a AI in our employ somehow.

We need to adress this. And we certainly have to make the idea of friendly AIs more acceptable in the Fring and especially the UFW. Comisioning some shows or having some show about AI/VI human interaction would be great. Things like " Where is Big tom, Destruction bad for us" Have the ships have a human pilot to make it more relateable and give the AIs some anthropomorphized avatar to humanize it. and such. Probably some kind of mishap like we had with the station but not that specifically, and how corrective measures are taken, with reprogramming and such. (we leave the particulars about that incident deleted from our record.)

2. Now, onto Reha and the UFWs weapon. Both showed us severe vulnerabilities in our current fleet design. We need to adress this. Somehow i think we need some kind of skeleton crews for our ships, so that the VI can go dark or full incommunicado in case another UFW like weapon is encountered, or a Reha like appearance tries to hack them. Having a faraday cage and somehow closing it up to prevent damage would be nice. That and the ships being able to go Battlestar Galactica in a limited fashion by having dedicated expert system for each and every ship system so hacking wont affect them if the network in the fleet and inside the ship is deliberately down. We might have ct down volume with gettig out humans from our ships but if we could replicate the UFW weapon and do such a doctrinal shift we would be able to kick UGEI ass for quite some time. Of course we need to recruit some people to run them. And i dont know how to do that.
>>
>>28188885
3. We need to address the issue of some kind of secure communications. Uncrackable and that do not use Badwith.

I am thinking a bit of Maskirovka here. We talk it out with Moira, that if we go with some kind of auxiliary crews for our VI we could use couriers, to confirm any communiques of ours and even relay orders without bandwidth or have pre written orders, a lot of them in a physical non computerized and secure medium to be opened per signals. Simple light signal in morse code or something..

Then we deliberately delete any trace of this from our own memory and leave it all to Moira so that even if we or another AI or VI gets hacked our fleets can still fuck the enemy up, and they still wont know anything form us about how we keep on going like a fucking zombie.

Essentially having a way to ensure our VIs and fleet survive another Reha or UFW like weapon incursion and able to go completely of grid and still function.
>>
>>28188942
>>28188885
I gotta say, you guys put a lot of thought into this stuff. I'm impressed really. I hope other anons give this some thought then.
