"...I never expected a medium tank to be that big!" Holly says, reaching up to touch the barrel of the T54. You eye her warily- you don't like strangers being around your tank, especially considering that the last time you'd left it in the care of people you didn't know, it had been returned with a powder-blue paintjob. "How much did the Pershing weigh?"

You are Commander Russells of the M26E1 Pershing "HEAVY Tank" Black Jack and you've just met the interviewer. "Forty-six tons. Actually, it was classified as a heavy tank when it was first deployed in World War II. They didn't reclassify it as a medium tank until after the war..." You pat Black Jack's front glacis plate. "Frontal plate is a hundred millimeters thick and set at a 46 degree angle- it's immune to most guns up to and including the 75mm."

She stops to make a quick note on her paper. "This doesn't look like the gun I saw when I looked up the M26..." She says, staring up at the muzzlebreak. "I'm sure your gunner would be able to tell me more?" She says. "I was actually hoping to interview your crew first and end with you, if that's ok?"

You're a bit relieved already- even if it is just the effect of having someone kick the can down the road for you. "Right, Rose is up in the turret if you want to talk with her first." You turn to leave her to the interview, but then remember something. "Oh, right. You know how to get up one of these right?" You ask, snapping your finger and getting ready to show her how to climb up the tread.

She smiles and deftly climbs up the side of Black Jack like she'd been doing it for years. "I got this!" She says brightly before scaling up the side of the turret and slipping down through the open commander's hatch. As soon as she's (hopefully) out of earshot, Richard approaches you.

"Who was the brunette bombshell?" He says quietly, looking around for Saori first. "Not used to seeing that sort of sloping around here..."

"That's the interviewer." You say, rolling your eyes to disguise the fact that you weren't thinking the same thing. "Try not to drool, right?"

No Sentinels again

Taking a break from writing because what the fuck you can't have a tank battle on a ship that's only one and a half kilometres wide.
>>
>>28278936
http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1514155?pool_id=7425
>>
>>28279039
Battle on land where tanks are transported, battle on other ship, and battle on current ship with urban focus, are potential answers I can come up with off of the top of my head.
>>
>>28278955
Holy shit those little details.
>>
>>28279108
I've already started this battle as being on a forested 1.5km square battlefield.

May have to retcon, I dunno. But it frustrated me to the point of "what the fuck this doesn't work" so I've taken a break to work on other projects I've been neglecting.
>>
>>28279141
nothing wrong with CQTB, just something you (or I ) don't hear about that often. Although, in GuP, the first part of the match with Saunders is in a forested area. Still good to pick up and finish old stuff.
>>
>>28279141
>1.5 sq km
Yeah, retcon. You can effectively engage everything from one end to the other with battlesight on most tanks.
>>
>>28279195
That's the width of the ship too, so unless I want to go and expand the field so that it takes up half the length of the deck, that's as large a field as I'm getting.

I'll probably convert it to urban terrain. But later. A couple of weeks probably.
>>
Your first instinct is to just go do something to keep yourself busy for a bit- but your curiosity gets the better of you. You slip off your shoes and quietly scale up the side of your tank, huddling next to the still-open commander's hatch to listen inside- maybe you can get an idea of what she's going to be asking about.

The questions don't seem too off-point at first, pretty much what you expect- a tour of the gunner's position, Rose's view of the gun's effectiveness, how did Rose become the gunner- all very standard questions that naturally lead from one to the other. Holly is an expert but you see where she's steering before she even gets there. "So, what's it like being the only female crew on the tank?" She asks, innocently.

You practically hear Rose's shrug. "Well, it helps that I've known most of them since we still used training wheels." She says. "They're practically family at this point."

"I see, has there been any..." Holly seems to search for a word. "...Tension at all?"

"What do you mean?" Rose says, deadpan evident in her voice- she knows exactly what was asked.

"Well, you're in such close quarters with them, constantly practicing together..." Holly let's the implications float on a cloud of insinuation.

Rose hesitates for only a second. "Absolutely not." She says firmly. "We have to work together seamlessly at all times- a relationship would be a huge disruption." Good girl- give her no quarter.

So...

Who's doing what in tanks?
>>
>>28280459
I'm reaching a plateau level. Grinding everywhere.
>>
>>28280459
yeah, I have a fully upgraded tiger II I'm screwing around with, but otherwise I'm like >>28280513
in that I have a bunch of tanks researched (M6, T21, etc etc), but I've not yet pulled the trigger on them. I also have a shitpile of convertable XP (at least 200k points) that I'm sitting on.
>>
>>28280459
Suffering through the shitheap that is the Pz 38(t)NA. Also the Lee, which is only marginally better.

Should I go from M3 Stuart to M5? I really want to get to the Chaffee, but I don't want to suffer through another t4 light.
>>
>>28280538
I just have to grind all of mine for the next level.

My IS-3 is going to take forever.
>>
>>28280593
Chaffee is hard as fuck to make money on. Plus you get into tier 10 matches with regularity, so unless you're good at it you will die. A lot. That said, grinding through the m3 is worth it, the M4 is great, and the E8 is a thing of beauty.
>>
>>28280593
The M5... It depends on how you play lights.

Your best gun is a tiny derp, and you get into tier 8 battles with it. If you go into this thinking you can actually hurt anything then you're playing the wrong tank.

That or bring gold rounds.
>>
>>28280619
Ez8 is overshadowed by Cromwell though.

And Jumbo is pretty good too, though continuing to T29 from it is suicide unless you have free exp for 90mm.
>>
>>28280593
>Suffering through the shitheap that is the Pz 38(t)NA.

Eh, I never found the 38nA that bad. As long as you stick to passive scouting, rather than silly banzai "scouting" charges, you do fine.

The top gun has hilarious penetration with APCR ammo. Slaps the shit out of tier IV and tier V heavies. Sure, you get MM'd into tier 8 matches sometimes, but that strictly shouldn't change you paradigm.
>>
>>28280684
I enjoy playing my e8 more than my Cromwell, honestly, though the latter does have some fun moments like trolling Tiger I's by circling them almost twice as fast as their turret can rotate..
>>
>>28280684
Or just play through the American heavy line and you'll already have the 90mm.

That said, I like the E8 over the Cromwell because it still has the 105mm and there is something to be said about being able to kill tier 8 heavies.

>>28280716
Tier 8 matches tend to be the rule in that tank rather than the exception, and most people don't have the credits to kit it out to be a passive scout.
>>
>>28280736
See, that's the thing Maybe i've just had great luck with the MM, but the worst I see is Tier 7 matches. Tier 8s are a rarity. YMMV.
>>
>>28280619
Oh god, really? I love the fuck out of the Chaffee, but the MM is really that shitty with it?

>>28280640
>>28280716
I really have no desire to pay shekels to WG, especially not for gold rounds. I don't hold any illusions that a t4 light is really ever going to be anything beyond a passive scout.

>>28280736
>>28280756
I think I can count on one hand the number of times I haven't been stuck in t7 or t8 matches.
>>
So, that's how these interviews will end up going... Well, forewarned is fore-armed. You want to stay and listen, but the longer you stay the more likely it is that your spying will be discovered. You creep down off your tank and put your shoes back on- Rose has your full confidence, as always. You're just worried how the rest of your crew will react to a similar question.

Nothing you can do about that right now- you hope you've scared and or guided them well enough that they don't complete screw this up. Within nothing left to do you wander the garage, watching the crews go through the maintainance and upkeep of their machines. "Commander Russells!" A young voice says, stopping you. "Hey!"

You look up to see the Lee's 75mm gunner waving towards you. You smile. "What's up, Ayumi?" You ask, turning to walk closer.

"Come look! We finally painted an emblem on our tank!" She says with glee, climbing down and guiding you to the Lee's front side. There, on the frontal plate opposite of the 75mm gun you see their masterpiece- a cartoonish white rabbit grinning with a mouthful of vicious, bloody teeth. Above the picture is the name Caerbannog and below it, in English "RUN AWAY!"

Ayumi stands tall before the nose art. "Saki designed it! She's a really good artist!"

You grin despite yourself. "Excellent! Very aggressive!" You say, clapping the proud gunner on her shoulder. "That's exactly the kind of spirit we want from our crews!" You say happily. "The name could use some work though- You said it was from a movie?" You mainly remember that much because you tend to remember the few seconds before and after a ninety-millimeter round slams into the side of a tank you're riding in.

Ayumi gasps. "I'd forgotten!" She says, looking at your gravely. "You've never seen it!" She bites her lip. "Aya!" She calls out and a moment later, her fellow gunner sticks her head up out of the turret.

"Oh! Showing the Commander our new noseart?" Aye says with a wave. "What do you think?"

"Aya!" Ayumi says, interrupting her. "Commander Russells has never seen Holy Grail!" She shouts up. "Can he borrow your copy?" Wait... Who says that you wanted to see it in the first place? Aya, though, looks absolutely shocked. You thought they'd already known about this.

"I forgot!" She says before nodding. "I'll run home and get it for him!" She says. "Should I get anything else? Life of Brian or..." She starts rattling off a list of films.

The Lee actually isn't BAD, it just doesn't play like a medium at all.
Of course I'm probably biased by the fact that I started with TDs, and the Lee plays like a TD.

>"I'll... I'll just take that first you guys were talking about."
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is awesome enough on it's own.

You wave your hands. "That's ok! Really! I'll just watch the first one for now!" You say quickly, breaking up their impromptu discussion of the merits of various Monty Python and post-Monty Python films. "I really don't have time to go through a whole library all at once anyway..."

Ayu nods at you. "Right! I'll get that movie to you! It's an important part of your culture!" She says before ducking into the tank.

You blink- wanting to say something but she's already gone. "But I'm not Brit-Nevermind." You mutter with a sigh. "So what made you guys want to name your tank after a rabbit?"

Ayumi smiles- "You see, in the movie they come upon a beasts den and when they find out its a rabbit they decide to attack it, thinking its harmless." Her smile turns wicked. "And when they do, the Rabbit massacres them! It's just like our tank and, well the entire team!" She gestures out the rest of the ragtag group of tanks in the garage. Tanks that other teams would use as second-line or trainers at best. "A lot of teams are going to underestimate us- Just like Darjeeling did- and we're going to show them just how foul, cruel and bad-tempered we can be."

What do we bet that Pat and/or Rich has done something INCREDIBLY stupid by now?

I give it 65/35 odds that they have

Also, you know things are going wrong when MC "SpaghettiLord" Russells is in charge of making sure people don't do stupid things

After that I say we go check on Miho.. The option to go look for her has come up too often for there not to be a problem.

perhaps, but we don't want to not be around when it's our turn to be interviewed. That'd be bad
>>
ohhhhh Blackjackkkkk~

It's been- you check your watch- five minutes since you've left Black Jack. While Rose is more than likely still being interviewed, that means that the rest of your crew has been over there completely unsupervised for nearly five minutes.

There's a rule for your crew; the rule of three tankers. If you leave one of your tankers alone and tell him to do something he'll get bored, be lazy and the job will likely never get done. If you leave two of your crew with something to do, they'll watch each other and make sure they get things done. And if you leave three of your crew alone, for however small a period of time, they will do something incredibly stupid and screw something up doing it.

And when you leave Patrick, Roy and Richard alone, five minutes is practically an eternity.

You hurry back to your tank with as much haste as you can allow while still trying to look like you don't expect anything to be wrong. As you get over to Black Jack's space, you see Rose extracting herself from the commander's hatch. "Russells." She calls down as she climbs to the ground. "Two things: God help us, she wants to interview Patrick next. Second: I need to talk to you about this..."
