You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

It is SUNDAY.

What exactly happens on Sunday, you’re not exactly sure. Your dorm is still hot as an oven, so it’s more or less time to get the hell out and do something worth your time. You quickly shower and toss on a T-Shirt and your cargo shorts. Nancy’s probably at church right now, so there’s no real need to go to her directly. You still have to go to Michelle’s place to prepare the presentation.

Well, in case it's a tad too early we might as well pick up Kitten first.

No bullying Kitten please.
>>
> Head directly to Michelle’s
> Go wake Kitten

Welp, nothing for it. Time to hit the road. You eat your perfectly balanced breakfast of milk and cereal, then head out of the dorm and into the burning hot sun. Shit it’s not even summer anymore and it’s still perfect weather for getting one’s tan on.

You decide on waking Kitten first though, maybe she’ll want to come. You need to pick out new clothes for her anyway.

You head downstairs then knock on her door, and to your surprise, Kitten answers, already dressed in her uniform.

“Kitten,” you say. “You’re already awake?”

“All that sleeping I did yesterday ruined my sleep cycle, so I’m pretty much awake now.”

You nod, smiling. “Excellent! Want to go to Michelle’s place? She knows a lot about tanks!”

Kitten shrugs. “Sure, might as well continue to melt like ice cream out here.”

The two of you head on over to Junior dorms. They’re not particularly far, mind you, but the summer sun that doesn’t know that it’s fall is really putting on a damper on you and Kitten. At least you’re not running.

Kitten says, “So, this Michelle person, is she alright?”

“Michelle’s very nice and a very smart, hard worker. Just don’t mention tanks around her though.”

Kitten raises an eyebrow. “Why’s that? I thought you said she knew a lot about tanks.”

“Well, you know, the Aces all have a history, I don’t want them to start having flashbacks like some ‘Nam vet.”

Kitten nods. “Alright then, get my hopes up for nothing with tanks and shit.”

You mockingly pout at her. “I’m so sorry, Kitten. But maybe you two have something in common! Maybe you play the same video games or like the same movies.” Kitten simply rolls her eyes at that.

You arrive at Michelle’s place then knock on her door.

No response.

You continue knocking on Michelle’s door. After a time, you almost decide on giving up, until the door opens. Michelle greets you in her pajamas looking very tired.

“I’m sorry,” you say. “Did I wake you?”

Michelle shakes her head, sniffling. “Nah, I’m just a little slow. Flu’s really got me this weekend. Something you need?”

You say, “Ah, I was just wondering if you wanted to like, prepare for the presentation.”

“That tomorrow?”

“Think so.”

Michelle nods, coughing into her elbow. She gestures you in. “Alright, come in. Watch yourself though, I’m still not exactly in the best shape.”

You wave her off, chuckling. “Oh relax, me and Kitten are from the South. Our immune systems are as impenetrable as a nun’s chastity belt.” You suddenly realize you forgot to introduce Kitten. “Oh yeah, this is my friend, Carol. We call her Kitten.”

Kitten nods, mumbling out a “hello.” Michelle nods back.

“I’d shake your hand,” says Michelle. “But who knows where my hand’s been.”

Righto, where to start?

“So, how exactly are we going to do our presentation, Michelle?”

Michelle lies down on her bed while you and Kitten take the couch. Michelle says, “Well, I prepared a powerpoint on some different flowers and such, Chrysanthemums too. I think we can just coast on by by just reading off the powerpoint.”

You lean back in your seat. “Ah, that’s no fun. Why don’t we spice things up?”

“How?”

You shrug. “I dunno how. And don’t give me that ‘you suggested it’ crap, I’m just suggesting it.”

Michelle scratches her chin. “Eh, I suppose maybe you can stop by and get actual Chrysanthemums.” Michelle looks over at Kitten. “What are you doing here, by the way? I don’t think I’ve seen you in class before.”

Kitten shrugs. “I take online classes.”

Michelle nods. “Ah, what Department are you?”

“Ah, I’m not Naval Studies?”

Michelle skeptically asks, “What’s your job then?”

Kitten blushes, looking away. “Uh… I don’t have a job.”

Michelle nods. “You should get one.” She looks over at you. “Anyway, you gonna do most of the talking or should I?”

A knock comes at Michelle’s door. You stand up to answer, but she immediately cuts you off. “No no, I’ll get it.” She walks over to the door and opens it up.

“Michelle, good to see you.” Wendy Kniep, clad in her Naval Studies Engineering uniform. She has a bag of goodies in one hand. “I brought some sweets and orange juice for you, figure it’d help that flu.”

“Oh, thanks, Wendy.” She motions Wendy to come in, to which she does, and when she notices you and Kitten, she looks surprised.

You wave her off. “Oh, it was nothing. We were just looking for tanks you know?”

Wendy nods, skeptical of you. “And you sure found a tank. A T28/T95 GMC.” You can hear Michelle snicker briefly in the background.

“Well, it’s a tank isn’t it?”

“Technically it’s a very very heavy tank destroyer/assault gun.”

Jeez.

Michelle pops a cough drop into her mouth then sits back down on her bed. “So, Wendy, how have you been?”

Wendy shrugs, crossing her arms. “Eh, Naval Studies is a lot of work but at least I don’t pay tuition like you rich people.” She looks over at you, almost glaring at you. “Speaking of which, what’s going on between you and Octavia?”

You and Kitten glance at each other briefly. “Uh…” you say, “Huh?”

“Octavia told me you’re directing the play, but she let slip something about helping you with something. And I know that something is with Tanks.” With that, Michelle also looks at you, skeptical. “What’s your angle?”

You say, “She’s not driving tanks or anything, she’s just giving us some tips! She’s basically an instructor to us.”

The two Aces do not look particularly impressed. Michelle says, “Listen, Gertrude. You shouldn’t go digging holes in places like this.”

Wendy nods. “Yeah, I don’t know how you managed to convince Octavia to join your little Tankery program thing, but maybe you should stay out of our affairs.”

They could have very well have told the anime club that Nancy like this stuff in secret. and was being a tsundere or something.

You bump into something. You look around, nothing. You look downwards.

“Oh,” you say. “Hey, O’Hara.”

You nod. “Yeah, anyway, what’d you want to talk to me about?”

O’Hara smiles smugly, clapping her hands together. “Thank you for getting Pinkerton and O’Bannon demoted to Trainee. Not only do they no longer have the power to issue tickets, brig people, or give non-continuous detention, but our Law Enforcement Studies Advisors have seen fit to promote me to Shift Leader!”

You nod, smiling back. “That’s great. Really!” Not really.

O’Hara nods, giggling. “Oh, you know, a freshmen a Shift Leader. Unheard of until now. Those days of getting my head eaten off by those fecking cunts O’Bannon and Pinkerton are waaaay in the past.” She looks over at O’Brain, and her smile instantly drops. “O’BRIAN! WAKE UP!”

O’Brain immediately jumps, unfolding her baton and getting into a defensive posture. “WHASSAT, WHERE ARE THEY!?”

“THERE’S NOBODY! YOU FELL ASLEEP AGAIN YOU SLEEPY CUNT!”

O’Brain folds up her baton and points it at O’Hara. “Oi, don’t you be calling me a fecking cunt you pussyfooting jackass!”

“I can call you whatever I want, I’M YOUR FECKING SHIFT LEADER!”

“The only fecking shift I see is in your sexuality you-“

“I’M NOT A FUCKING DYKE YOU CUNT!”

You quickly grab Kitten and decide to sidestep around them.

“O’BRIAN, IF YOU WEREN’T SUCH A FUCKING NIGHT OWL MAYBE YOU WOULDN’T FALL ASLEEP LIKE SOME LITTLE BABBY!”

“WELL MAYBE I’D ACTUALLY GET SOME SLEEP IF YOU’D STOP MOANING IN THE FUCKING NIGHT ABOUT-!”

O’Hara stomps her foot repeatedly, red in the face. “SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP! YOU FUCKING CUNT!”

“THE ONLY CUNT I SEE HERE IS YOU AND I’M VERY GENUINELY SURPRISED THAT YOU’RE NOT EATING ANOTHER ONE EITHER!”

“I’M GONNA STICK THIS BATON SO FAR UP YOUR FUCKING ARSE THAT YOU’LL BE SERVING AS A PARKING METER!”

You continue walking. Kitten looks up at you and says, “I’m glad I don’t attend school.”

You say, “Yeah, Hall Monitors are not the most agreeable people.”

You continue on to the Church, and true to your earlier word, it seems people are just leaving. They’re clad in nice suits and lovely dress. You find Nancy waiting at the entrance, and she greets you happily.

“President! Kitten! Good to see you! How are you doing?” she asks.

“Eh, could be better.”

Nancy nods. She’s dressed up in her school uniform. Nothing better to wear for Church you suppose. “Well, I hope I can make your day better then, President.” The three of you hop down the steps. “So, I was thinking we could maybe hit up the local bargain bin or something, see if we can’t find something that fits you for cheap.”

You shrug. “Eh, me and Kitten are okay with whatever fits.”

Nancy pouts. “Oh, you shouldn’t have to settle with ‘just’ whatever fits. You should look nice and-“ She gasps. “Oh, that’s right! The Sewing Club just called me to tell you about our uniforms!”

“We have uniforms now?” you ask.

“Let’s head over to the Sewing Club building. See what’s what.”

Nancy nods. “Whatever you say.”

The three of you head for the Sewing Club building. The Sewing Club building isn’t unique, many other clubs take entire buildings as their clubhouses. For example, the Cooking Club takes an entire restaurant to themselves, and you often hear rumors about the Film Club in the old haunted Hollywood building.

Kitten and Nancy make small talk along the way.

“So, Kitten, what do you think you’d look good in? Maybe a nice sweater for the upcoming weather?”

Kitten shrugs. “I’m in the same boat Trudy is. I don’t care.”

Nancy rolls her eyes. “That’s what they all say.”

You arrive at the Sewing Club Building and enter. The lights are on, the clothes are no longer splayed or tossed around but are instead neatly lined up in racks. Anna greets you at the counter.

“Gertrude! Kitten! Nancy! Good to see you three! What brings you here?”

“Well, Nancy told me you had uniforms and-“

Anna beams like a spotlight. “WE DO!” She quickly grabs Kitten and before she can react she’s suddenly pushed into the backroom.

“Mamie! Bess! The uniforms, s'il vous plait!"

“Hey! What are you- OW! What the fuck! What the hell is that?!”

“Just hold still!”

“Wait! WHY ARE YOU TAKING MY UNDERWEAR OFF?!”

Lord knows what they’re doing back there.

You and Nancy stand outside the curtains of the backroom for a minute or so. Then, the curtains open, revealing the Sewing Club and Kitten.

Kitten stands there awkwardly, red in the face. The Tankery Uniform she now wears appears to be more of a variation of the Naval Studies Uniform. It was a navy blue jacket with a red sailor collar, a red skirt, and to top it off, a blue field cap.

“Leather jackets and pants are optional of course,” says Anna. “But what do you think, Gertrude, too derivative?”

“Well, hell if I know, I’m not a fashion connoisseur like yourself, Anna.”

Mamie says, “Maybe olive drab instead of navy?”

Anna scratches her chin, pensive. “Perhaps. I don’t want to give us too much of an army look…” Anna lifts Kitten’s skirt up an inch, and is quickly slapped on the hand by her. “Hmph. I suppose there’s nothing for it. We’ll scrap the design and go back to the drawing board.” She quickly pulls the curtains back. There’s the sounds of rustling and Kitten shouting, then quickly the curtains are drawn and she’s back in her school uniform.

“That wasn’t fun,” says Kitten. Anna simply pats her on the head.

“Oh, don’t be such a sadsack, Kitten. You’ve got the makings of a model in you!”

“Yeah, I’d really like to see my body artificially enhanced and then get yelled at by Tyra Banks on national televisions, that sounds like real fun.”

You say, “Anyway, Anna. I actually wanted to talk with you, you think you could provide costumes for the upcoming play?”

Anna nods. “Of course! Sewing Club’s duty is to make clothes for any purpose.”

You nod. “Great! And I suppose it’s free!”

She nods back, smiling. “Oh, you helped the Sewing Club regain its former glory, of course it’s free!”

Nancy says, “Speaking of which. We were looking for some casualware, do you think you could help us?”

Anna claps her hands together, giddy at the prospect of clothes shopping. “Lovely! What are you looking for exactly?”

Army, not Navy. More drab green, less sailor more GI. What about sleeveless? No, too 'nam.

Pockets. Lots of pockets. Did I say less blue? Because we're tankers not navyfags, replace all blue with OD #7. Do we have a school crest? Because combine that with a white star or tanks or shells.

And leather. How long is the skirt? Too short? Should they be pants? Would that be too dyke-y?

Are there gloves? Are there hats? Are they nice hats? What if we give our tank commanders different colour hats? What if we give our team captain a different, larger hat?

They latter were forced to dilute the dye because of material shortages, which turned it into a brown-ish color, but still

Well anyway, point is, it's a practical color, it's looking pretty good, and makes us stand out from all the green/brown tones the other teams are likely to use
>>
> Some mixture of ALL OF THEM

“Well, I suppose I’d like a mixture of practicality and fashion. I’m not of a fashionista so, maybe you could help me choose?”

Anna grabs you by the shoulders and starts leading you through the racks. “LET ME SHOW YOU MY WARES!”

As you’re led through, Anna quickly picks out all manners of stockings, skirts, shirts, dresses, jackets, and some weird things you’ve never heard of but apparently are actually incredibly common. Nancy and Kitten also given the same treatment by Mamie and Bess and soon enough, you’re all in the backroom with a pile of clothes and some very eager Sewing Club members.

“Okay, Anna, uh…” you begin.

You don’t get farther than that before you’re stripped like a banana.

After a few minutes of trying, testing, and some weird touching, you’re finished.

Nancy is decked out in a dark blue jumper dress, with a white shirt underneath and black knee highs. Her hair has been styled into a ponytail, held together with a red scrunchie. Now that’s looking cool.

You meanwhile have been put into a navy blue button down shirt with an accompanying black skirt. Simple, practical.

Kitten unfortunately had the honor of being dolled up by Anna, and it very clearly shows. She’s put into a pink sundress, a gray cardigan, topped off with a white bow tying her hair into a ponytail.

“Wow, Kitten,” you snicker. Don’t laugh, don’t laugh. “You… clean up nicely!”

Kitten, who’s still red in the face, simply says, “Yeah, fuck you too, Trudy.”

Anna comes in between you two, smiling. “Are you not satisfied?”

Anna smiles, then her smile starts to fade slowly. “Eh… not really.”

You raise an eyebrow. “Not really?”

“Well, we did advertise at the Club fair, we even sold some of our wares. But nobody actually comes by. As it turns out, on an Academyship where nearly all of us wear uniforms most of the time, new threads are apparently in low demand.”

You frown. “Ah, that’s a shame. You’re really talented at this stuff, you know?”

Anna nods, waving you off. “Ah, don’t worry about me. The Sewing Club has handled ourselves in the thickest of situations. My boyfriend always tells me to-“

“Wait,” this is new. “You have a boyfriend.”

Anna nods, non-plussed. “Of course. Didn’t I tell you?”

“… no?”

“Hmph. I guess I should make it a bit more obvious then. He doesn’t live on the Academyship, he’s actually back in Richmond. Long distance relationships are always so difficult you know?”

But no, you need to focus, you need actors, you could use some more money you suppose. Most of all, you need music. Music, music, music, think. You can’t exactly blast dubstep on stage and expect the actors to sing to that.

You’re not gonna subject the audience to that kind of torture.

Of course, music won’t matter without actors. Although auditions are days away, you at least need to guarantee that SOME people will come and audition.

So, where do you start then?

Actors first and foremost.

… You don’t know where to start with that, but hell, some things have to come first. LIKE LUNCH.

All three of you take your leave, thanking the Sewing Club for your outfits. You scratch your chin, where are you going to find actors?

Hell, it’s not even difficult to find actors, it’s difficult to find actors that can SING. Good thing this isn’t West Side Story where you need to find actors that can Act, Sing, AND DANCE AT THE SAME TIME. Goddamn it, why couldn’t your Theatre Arts kids be like that?

Well, at least you don’t have to worry about gender ratio. Regular landlubber high schools would probably have a huge majority of women with just the occasional token guy. Here in Lafayette Girls Academy, everyone’s a girl anyway.

Makes Romeo and Juliet very uncomfortable though.

The three of you end up in the park, time to figure out where to go.

You take a big bite into your cheeseburger. Hell, it’s not Nancy’s cooking, it may be processed meat, and eating too much of it can give you a stroke, but damn if ain’t good. Nancy ordered herself a salad while Kitten took a cheeseburger and fries to go along.

You take a couple of glances around, just a lot of students going about their day.

You say to Nancy, “Nancy, you see anyone who looks like they want to be in a play?”

Nancy shakes her head. “Nah, I assumed you would.”

And it’s definitely out of the question to ask Kitten.

You sigh. “Well, this directing thing is turning out to be harder than I thought.”

Suddenly, a nearby trashcan lid bursts open, revealing Georgia Jones and Stella Hutchins, reporters from the Lafayette Runner. “WHAT A SCOOP!” yells Georgia.

… Were they just-

Georgia looks at you, beaming, “So you’re directing the play! That’s a real interesting thing! Mind if we have an impromptu interview?”

“Nah, I don’t mind.” You look at them, still in the trashcan. “How long were you waiting in there?”

Georgia prepares her notepad and says, “Doesn’t matter. What matters is a good story. Charlotte and Edna are actually waiting over in Burger King but that’s irrelevant to our interests at the moment. What I want to know is more about you.” She climbs out of the trashcan and sits across from you, with Nancy scooting over to give her space (or to get away from the fact that she sat in a trashcan in a McDonalds.)

You rest your head on your hands and lean forward on the table. “So, what do you want to know?”

Georgia licks the tip of her pen and begins writing. “So, Gertrude Pool. Tankery Team Commander and now apparently director of the play, Red Dawn: The Musical. How did you become director? And why did you become a director?”

“Well, the play ran into some troubles pre-production. The director we wanted couldn’t do it, not to mention budget and other issues, so I decided to take up the reins. Simple as that really.”

Georgia nods, satisfied. “Always helping others, that’s a good trait to have in this kind of world.” She flips a page on her notepad.

“So,” she continues. “Red Dawn: The Musical. It wasn’t exactly well received when it was first adapted for Broadway, and I honestly don’t think it’d do well now. Why is our fall play this year going to be Red Dawn, instead of something a little more respectable like uh… Les Mis, or Oliver, or maybe even Arsenic and Old Lace?”

You shrug. “Honestly, I do like Red Dawn. The Movie. Not the remake.”

Georgia nods again. “I can relate.” She flips another page in her notepad. “So, last question and I’ll let you get right back to your lunch.”

“Shoot.”

“So, while you’re obviously directing both the Tankery Program and the play at once. Is this difficult to do? Are you perhaps balancing both of them or are you prioritizing one or the other?”

Georgia nods. “Good, good.” She flicks the notepad closed then stands up. “Excellent interview, Gertrude. Normally I’d have more questions but this is all a bit impromptu.”

You nod, smiling. “Oh, don’t worry about it, Georgia.” You look over at the trashcan. “So, are you…?”

She shakes her head. “Nah, I got my story.” She motions Stella to follow her. “We’re outta here!” They quickly leave the McDonalds.

You take a walk around the park with Kitten and Nancy. Just people going about their days with no worries. You don’t exactly know what you were expecting trying to find someone off the street, but hell, stranger things have happened.

Kitten says, “Can we rest? I’m tired.”

You say, “Not until we find someone who’s capable of singing, dancing, and acting.”

“That’s like trying to find a fucking unicorn.”

Nancy says, “Now now, Kitten. Nothing’s impossible. Who knows, maybe-“

Nancy’s interrupted by the sound of police brutality.

“WE’RE GONNA STRAIGHTEN YOU OUT!”

“THIS’LL FIX YOU!”

You look over to see O’Hara and O’Brian beating the ever loving shit out of… a bent out parking meter.

Well, they weren’t wrong.

You walk over and say, “Hey, you guys again.”

O’Hara and O’Brian stop their merciless beatdown to greet you. “Ah, Pool. You again. Something you need?” says O’Hara.

O’Brian says, “That shitty stage remake?”

You nod. “Yes, the shitty stage remake. We actually need some actors though and I was wondering maybe if you two would be interested?”

They look at each other briefly, then back at you. They then burst into laughter, gripping their sides as if they’re about to expand violently. You simply stand there, awkwardly.

“AHAHA, you can’t be fecking serious!” says O’Brian. “We’re not fecking theatre cunts and we certainly ain’t gonna be going up there exposing ourselves to the audience!”

“I didn’t say-“ you’re interrupted by further laughter.

“Ahaha! That’s a really funny thing you just told us, Pool!” says O’Hara, wiping a tear out of her eye. “Really, it is! Ahahahaaa!” She slaps her knee and continues on laughing.

“Oh, come on guys,” you say.

Nancy comes up and says, “Maybe you can at least be extras, the play does call for some crowd scenes.”

“Yeah right!” says O’Brian. “The only crowd you’re gonna see us in is the one that doesn’t involve embarrassing ourselves in front of hundreds of people!”

O’Hara nods, calming down. “Besides, we ain’t exactly Allison Krauss and Gillian Welch. We can’t sing.”

O’Brian says, “O’Hara probably sings like a fecking alarm.”

O’Hara counters with, “You probably sing like a Siren.”

“That don’t make any sense!”

“Then why do the sailors kill themselves when they hear you?”

“Fine, fine, I see you can’t be swayed.”

O’Hara waves you off. “Right, right, go on and bugger off. We got some parking meters to fix.” They both extend their batons then proceed back to beating the crap out of the parking meter.

You sigh. That could’ve gone better.

The three of you move on to greener pastures. Specifically to the Film Club building, the old Hollywood Video rental store. You often hear rumors about how it’s haunted. Real funny joke that, Hollywoods are so old they have ghosts in them. Real fucking funny.

Of course, it’s time to consult the Film Club. You need someone to film the play, and perhaps they might serve as a crew for your tanks.

You walk in and see that the place is actually pretty decently kept. The shelves are all moved to the back, leaving a very empty room with naught but the counter. Manning the counter is a very bored looking Sophomore.

“Hey,” she greets you. “Can I help you?”

You nod. “Yeah, my name’s Gertrude Pool, this is Nancy Whitmore and Carol Smith, we call her Kitten. We’re looking for cameras and people to record the upcoming school play?”

She nods, skeptical of you. “I see. You’re the Director of the play then?”

Josefina shakes her head. “Nah, it’s not haunted. That’s just rumors Fredendall cooked up to keep people from using our services.”

Fredendall. “She fucked you over too huh?”

She shrugs. “Yep.” A Sophomore comes out of the backroom holding a camera. “Hey, Samantha.” She gestures over to Samantha for you. “Gertrude, that’s Samantha Peckinpah, one of the Film Club members. Samantha, Gertrude.”

“Not yet. Maybe we can find a way to raise some money.” You tap your chin, pondering on it. Think, think, let the music flow through your brain. Guitar, fiddle, all that kind of stuff.

Wait a second, where the fuck is that music coming from?

All of you look down the street, and as you see it, you walk down to see what all the fuss is about and where that music is coming from.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZw7DpKs910

It’s Ashleigh Burnside and Cathy McDowell. Ashleigh’s playing the fiddle and Cathy’s backing her up on the guitar as they play to a group of people. Occasionally someone tosses in a dollar or two.

You raise an eyebrow. “Well where’s the rest of you? Can all of you play instruments?” A lightbulb is being constructed.

Ashleigh nods. “Yeah, we’re actually a band. We don’t have a name though.”

Cathy says, “However, I think Tara and the others are probably doing better on their side.”

Tara says, “We’re not.” Cathy jumps at Tara, Andrea, and Tabitha appearing behind her. “We’re only managed to get 50 dollars.”

You smile. Finally, some real progress. “Thanks, girls. You’ve been a real help!”

Cathy smiles, nodding to you. “We do what we can!” She looks over at Kitten. “Kitten? Wow! You look adorable!”

Kitten says, “Don’t start.”

Hell's Bells, I hope all the other Ace quests aren't as difficult as Octavia's.

As it is we have a massive chunk of time eaten up until October.

“So, you’re a bluegrass band?”

Cathy nods happily. “Ever since Middle School! We even played at our school dance once!”

Tabitha bluntly states, “They threw tomatoes at us.”

Cathy continues as if nothing was said, “It was all kinds of fun! You a fan of bluegrass?”

You shake your head. “I don’t listen to bluegrass all that much. I’m a bit of a ‘whatever sounds good’ kind of music person. I don’t lock myself down to one taste.”

Cathy nods. “Understandable! I sometimes listen to Queen every now and again.”

“Queen is awesome.”

“I know.”

You check your watch. 5 O’Clock. Eh, good time as any to head home.

You look over at Nancy, “Nancy, me and Kitten are gonna head from here.”

Nancy nods. “Alright, I’ll see what I can do with what time is left today.”

“You sure? I mean, you don’t have to.” Nancy simply waves you off, shaking her head.

“No no, President. It is my duty to try and make things better for you. Go home and relax, I’ll take it from here.”

You nod. “Okay, Nancy. Give me a call later, alright?”

You and Kitten make your way home. All things considered, today went okay.

Kitten notices that look on your face. “Everything okay, Trudy?”

“Well, Kitten, things could’ve gone a bit better.”

Kitten shrugs. “Hey, at least we got things done, didn’t we?”

“We didn’t get enough done, I don’t think.”

It suddenly occurs to you that tomorrow is when the ITL Inspectors show up. Boy, that’s gonna be fun. At least you’ll be able to take your mind off the play.

You look down at Kitten and sigh. “Cathy’s right though.”

She looks up at you. “What’s she right about?”

“You do look adorable.”

“WHASA-“ She puffs her cheeks out, blushing. You can’t help but giggle a little. “Oh come on, Trudy! You know Anna only made me wear this stuff so I’d look like some Barbie Doll shit!”

You say, “But you really do, Kitten. Honest.”

Kitten sighs, crossing her arms. “Meh. I hate this outfit. It feels like the skirt is gonna blow up if the wind looks at me wrong and this bow looks so fucking stupid and, ugh I hate it, hate it, hate it!”

“You’re totally gonna keep that outfit aren’t you.”

“… yes.”
