13th day of prophecy, 1:30 pm, inside the inner compound of the Flaming Fist.

After all, a few step inside the fortress of your mark and you’ve been met with two roadblocks and now come a certain impossibility of communication, fortunately the infiltrator seem to have an idea about your presence and no words need to be exchanged, instead you work on continuing your pretense for the time being and ask the initiate Ismael about supplies for your following operation; a rather bad charade following the earlier slip and Leila slowly grows silent as she’s obviously unused to the working inside the compound of this extremist Inquisitorial branch, but you spot her hand gripping the holy sword in earnest while fiddling with Mylen shackles, making sure they were lose enough for your bodyguard to slip out of with little effort while your faithful golem kept her attention upon Ismael but refrained from asking any question as, thankfully, your urgency and emotions told her that she ought to keep her mouth shut.

This small lull in the actions, namely waiting for your opportunity as the agents patrol the area with renewed vigor thank to the strange event going on at the coast, bring you back from your reverie and you stare at the golden cubic letter formed by the gentle hand of the gorgeous woman, it doesn’t take long for you to grasp at what she’s hinting at and you merely nod vigorously; prompting Ismael to work on a second sentence.

It took some time to write this sentence but the crystal blue letters float gently in the air long enough for the knight to read, Leila position didn’t allow her to get a grasp of your magic but she’s probably got an inkling of what you’ve said; she may not be showing it, but this near corruption attempt was a considerable action that would have shaken anybody, it’s only her countenance as an agent that avoided a following panic after you raised a shield.

Ismael, for her part, narrows her eyes and nod solemnly, her gaze shifting from you to her young apprentice who immediately turned away, unable to hold her stare with her former master and no doubt idol; Leila always possessed this admiration in her eyes when she talked or even looked upon this pale blue haired woman. You have no idea of the relationships between them, but it has to be very profound indeed to leave her unbalanced enough to constantly reach for the support of the sword.

Part of you feel like bugging her, to reconfirm to strength of her belief and willingness to betray the Church for your cause, but doing so is likely to be insulting, Leila has already given her answer through actions and it’s not an easy choice by any means, the sideway glance she give you isn’t full of hesitation, but the raw hurt and distress that momentarily flash in her eyes is enough to pinch your heart in painful empathy; nevertheless, she give a slight nod either to you or Ismael, you aren’t exactly sure.

She finally answer, turning back to look outside with firm gaze and gestures as, somehow, looking at the blond seem to have infused her with renewed vigor, Ismael put back the emotional dampening mask on her face and you feel a tug of frustration either from you and the Beast, regardless any further exchange of words will be meaningless.

You almost felt like settling for the long wait but the incredibly tense atmosphere of the tent didn’t allow for an ounce of relaxing and you almost felt like chastising yourself for even trying, must have been the influence of the golem as, out of everyone, she’s by far the most natural, going as far as entertaining herself somewhat by poking Mylen and then disturbing Leila… and then hugging the blond out of the blue while cooing cutely, making the Purifier seriously awkward in her boots as a blush spread across her cheek as she tried her best to wiggle out of the iron grip of the curly haired brunette.
Then, Ismael poke you on the shoulder and you see a change in the camp as several Inquisitor gather on the gate, it take some seconds to narrow your vision and identify clearly what’s going on but you spot the little alchemist grumpily complaining at the men and woman inspecting her wares, thoroughly searching every ounce of her bags and questioning the validity of almost every item, the wooden shield was especially suspicious and was obviously holding her up but that kind of distraction…

A small golden butterfly suddenly flies in front of your little spyhole, prompting Ismael to almost jump in surprise, it’s an incredibly small l thing but so, so very obvious…

As the Inquisitors busy themselves with Ithel baggage, the girl spot you and almost jump out to greet you form her position but thankfully stop and instead concentrate on bugging the poor sods doing their jobs, your exit isn’t exactly under the radar but the 6 men and woman around the gate only give you a passing glance as you walk toward the command tent guarded by a single masked person who slowly pull aside as he recognize you and the excuse of transfer is enough to see him move.

Not that there must have been anything precious in that big circled tent if it took barely any efforts to get in.


The inside is neat and tidy with arrays of bookshelves full of scrolls along with paper filled desks and a few quills here and there, no traces of anything suspicious and no telltale sign of traps, your little trio proceed to the west most point of the big tent and you notice a long incision inside the tissue allowing for an impromptu, quiet exit leading almost nose to nose with the wooden wall, but also right in the area of Ahriman quarter, you only need to follow the infiltrator in silence as she walk forward with a bit of distance and stop behind the large circle shaped, medium sized tent with engulfed runes causing the magical reinforcement, the entire surface of that place is reinforced to a sickening point with Holy, the magical shield is one big elaborate construct that almost feel like it’s separating this tent from the very world itself.

As of right now you’ve yet to cross path with an Inquisitor and you’re behind the tent, shielded from view but certainly not out of patrol path.

Ismael whisper and you almost chastises her, but there’s no way in hell that listening runes could have been installed here, the reinforcement of the tent is simply much too unique and one minded and spreading bugged runes would mean he’d have to listen to lots and lots of conversations.

Ismael doesn’t even balk or ask anything, she merely nods and take a watchful position as you enter focus and move out of the way of the dirt path, the addicting concentration and mental clarity brought by Focus allow you to look and details the runes holding the shield together more efficiently and it’s easy to find a particularly stable spot large enough for you to work with. Breaking the entire thing entirely might actually be possible, but it’d also be counterproductive and attracts lots of attention, thus you resolve for a neat and sneaky entry and touch the engorged shield with your hand while squatting down, index and major penetrate the holy shield effortlessly and the magic enter your slightly starved body, reinvigorating you and giving you a feeling of strong, uncharacteristic euphoria that’d almost push you to eat the entire thing…
It’s a great thing you’ve got some willpower.

Instead you eat enough of the shield to cause an absence of magic in the spot you need and conjure a small, sharp spike of ice, thankfully Emeth is quick on the uptake and was already on your level, the girl grab the hovering weapon and make a slow, careful long incision down the point held by your fingers, the shield around you flicker slightly but there’s no other telltale sign of your intrusion…

However, steam start leaking out of the newly made hole and from what you can tell, it’s not magical, it’s a simple white cream that fumes away and into the ether, thankfully short lived enough to disappear a few seconds after contact with the outside world.

‘’That’s… the preparation everyone went through to go aboard the ships holding the Holy weapon. Don’t worry, it’s not toxic.’’

Unfortunately you don’t have time to hear more of Ismael explanation, although you do linger on her hip as a sword magically appeared at her side out of literally nowhere, last time you looked at her she was completely unarmed but… well, you’ve seen worse and it seem her weapon is linked with her soul, quite the unique situation indeed…

You don’t’ see much of anything inside, that damn steam is blocking much of your vision but it doesn’t’ seem like there’s any agitation inside and it’s very, very dark, you’d be able to sneak inside easily enough but there is a certain golem with great night vision standing beside you…

‘’Nothing here’’

She suddenly say after glancing inside and you finally resolve to go in after taking a big, big breath; you’ve already given your position away thank to Focus but the magical energy surrounding you is easy enough to conceal your presence somewhat, you immediately ready yourself for battle as Emeth is the second one to come in but quickly find yourself wanting.

You see several human shaped armors adorning the tent, but nothing alive; the center of the place hold a magical apparatus spewing constant fumes responsible for this fog-like environment and the entrance of the tent quickly reveal a fast made booby-trap consisting of two crossbows loaded with lightning bolts. There was also a bed in the corner along with a few libraries full of scrolls put inside protective casing.

Thanks to a basic magical modification, the steam let out by the alchemical apparatus is now balled in an ever increasing circle at the top of the tent, the clearer picture is very welcome as you make sure to keep a certain distance away from the armors, all of them put inside faceless mannequins and positioned just about ready to strike, it’s akin to a small skirmish licked in time and it’s seriously spooking out Emeth who is now clinging to you and has activated her Holy runes, her entire body flare up in amazing power as the drawing of the freshly inscribed reinforcements light up under her skin, giving her a strangely otherworldly aura that momentarily leave you in awe.

‘’I’ll protect you forever’’

She says, very much wanting to keep up with you.

Actually, we'll likely need to fresh cuts. Worst case scenario is Belvedere in there with the mech. We can't take that thing on foot unless we use our ultimate spell to freeze it or her solid in one blast.

You can beat a mech on foot, just takes one hell of a powerful attack. Think Xenogears. At a high enough level and the better deathblows you could wreck mech opponents. Don't try that shit when they're the same level as you though or you'll be very, very sorry.

A distinctive melody that almost feel otherworldly, it reverberate across faraway, invisible walls and come to your ears from a seemingly great distance, the channeling maiden form look more and more obscure and it take you a few long, long seconds for you to realize that you don’t feel Emeth body against yours anymore, nor the comforting presence of the soul links.

Just like that time when Mother Earth pulled you into her realm, the scenery melt away into a black void that is quickly filled with construction and geometry, from you stand the soil change into richly decorate squares of ceramic, walls sprout out of the ether and swirl to construct themselves incredibly fast with the hand of a master as quite marble stretch endlessly into an incredibly high roof of clear gothic inspiration with a second floor standing midway, a clear 10 meters above your head with few booths of balcony here and there, seemingly protruding right out of the walls with no way of getting inside without the possibility of flying.

Closer to the soil, the ground is adorned with many pillars supporting this seemingly impossible architecture while statues after statues continue on right into the magical instrument coming out of the main shrine, all of them female looking in armor from battle dress to proper plate, bearing two handed swords, halberds and sometime sword and shield and put in a seemingly reverent position; as you gaze into a face you spot a complete lack of feature, the only thing they have is the body of a woman and to walk on this corridor would give you the impression of a king.

As the music continue, you spot a kneeling silhouette right at the other end of this impossibly large cathedral; you are well over 20 meters apart but that thing is on its knee with hands in the air obfuscated by a blue clothes soaked in the water of the fountain, it’s hands are stones and look to be just like any other statue.

Up on the various balcony and second floor, you spot numbers and numbers of chivalric statues, all of them put in reverence and armed to the teeth, putting the entire numbers of silhouette well over 50 and now, the deep powerful sound of the organ below stronger than ever and an invisible chorus join in as you walk in slight confusion…

Then you hear a soft click followed by what can only be described as a ‘’katchink’’, all very quiet but still unable to completely conceal itself despite the music, only your sharpened sense allowed you to be fast enough to dodge the projectile that suddenly imploded with the sound of thunder as electricity rocked its surface, prompting you to immediately jump out of the pool as the large bolt smacked right in, with clear magical enhancement, discharged its electrical content into the entirety of the water as you rolled and get back up in one smooth movement thank to your training as a Shieffer.

Up above on one of the balcony stand your mark holding what look like a siege crossbow with a scope, he just now look away and recharge with another bolt but stop himself from firing as you crouch, ready to jump out of the way.

The man enter Focus and you spot a glint on his right hand, a magical ring on his finger flare alive and five tiny tendrils akin to threads shoot out all the way to some of the statues below him, once they make contact with the heads the statues twitches perceptibly, causing some dust and small marble to fall off as they move, hefting their large weapons and making their ways toward you, great booming steps of metals on ceramics reverberate as the music of the pipe organs continue on unabated.

First, if we can, stimpack time. Then, full power, launch spikes at him and then steam at the tendrils to neutralize them (I bet he set them to blow up once the signal stops, y'know, as a final fuck you to the guy who killed him), Ice dome shield then fucking LAUNCH our asses up there towards the part that isn't tons of explosives as hard as we can without breaking any bones. We will then suddenly change course in midair by jumping/launching off of ice plates/bumpers so he can't just nail us. If he keeps the high ground we're totally boned.

We like Kyorn, we're going to emulate him as best we can here. Only instead of slashing it'll be acid and ice spikes. Also, just to triple check, we really, really, REALLY hate this fucker right?

Also, I have a new genius plan! As it's only our soul in here we probably can't exit with the knife. But that's Ahriman's real body up there. Know what that means? When he's dead (and we make quadruple sure he is) we chop an arm off, imbed the knife in the hand, then chuck that sonofabitch out the exit! it'll end up next to the statue so we grab the arm/knife and cheese it to the circle. Neatly nabbing ourselves both one Leila and one badass weapon.

As much as you thoroughly, absolutely, hate this man your uninvited guest has a point, right now you’ve barely escaped what was likely going to be a fatal strike and now Ahriman is enjoying his perch on that balcony, the siege crossbow trailed on you and following what is likely going to be your center mass as the ring on his left hand continue glowering like a faraway star; the golden-white tendrils animating the statues have disappeared after entering the body of these newly made foes and now 5 of them are marching toward you in a triangle formation, namely 3 of them out front aiming their weapons while a second pair was walking one feet behind, ready to plunger their long reaching weapon in the gaps as battle will be joined shortly.

Your greatest disadvantage right now is obviously the difference in height; the High Inquisitor is really up there and a fall is going to be fatal indeed, but right now he’s got the advantage and you’ll have to be creative if you wish to keep your trump card hidden…

You reach toward your chest for one of the vials given to you by your good friend Ithel and actually manage to touch the stimulants, something that give you an honest pause given the fact that your soul has been transferred in this place, not your entire body.

Regardless you don’t let any more precious seconds go to waste; you grab the potion, uncork it and quickly raise a magical shield as you heard the telltale sign of the firing crossbow, the ‘’Tchak’’ reverberate easily on the walls of the cathedral, the large lightning bolt pierce your first layer of ice but stoop at the second, discharging potent electricity as you gulp down the stimulants in one go.

A feeling of euphoria crash with the clarity of Focus and you find yourself smiling despite your history of absolute self-control, your veins grow a more brilliant, passionate shade of blue and a laugh escape your lisps as you look at Ahriman recharging his weapon; the liquid spread throughout your entire body and you feel a slight loss of control as ice form on your arms and hands like some kind of carapace while snow start falling from your sphere of influence, icing over the water not too far behind you as the pure raw joy at being alive almost shatter your reason.

This stuff is potent.

The statues have now started running and the High Inquisitor positioned himself for another solid shot, that’s when you launch a barrage of high speed spikes at him, the projectiles are forms as fast as possible without much thought to their quality and the young man immediately duck the balcony, dodging the first few projectiles while the others imbed themselves onto the stones, unable to pierce the thick protection but that’s also exactly what you needed for his gaze and attention have now been momentarily robbed.

That’s when the statues close the distances prime and proper, the closest one hold a twohanded sword and the swing is fast, violent and cruel indeed for such a emotionless maiden, you form the needed protection with shields but your body start exuding steams, fumes escape your clothes and mouth and a potent sound suddenly crash and reverberate across the entire cathedral as a column of hot, hot fume fly directly to the head of the golem, your manaphage nature cut the magical link with it entirely and its uneven position make it crash down like a broken puppet, the power boost of your stimulant also come in play for your next set of movements as Ahriman no doubt realized your little ploy, he’s already back up on his balcony and just about to fire.

You’ve never exactly took to the air, thankfully the cathedral got a second story that seem to span the entirety of its lower floor, meaning that you’ll have a shot at coming closer to the High Inquisitor, there’s a perfect diagonal opening that’ll make a very, very fine landing spot indeed and when the sound of thunders crash onto the cathedral as the magical bolt is send fling and the statues shift their strategy with throwing their weapons, a large booming sound very, very similar to Hadraniel magic almost explode all around you as you try your best to copy that lovely angel ability…

And it work.

Hot steam compress hard enough to shatter the ceramics around you as you canalize as much power as you can, the speed of your cast is beyond impressive and a literal explosion of steam send you forward directly toward your objective as the third magical bolt come crashing down on your previous position, steered off course by your magic, you cut into the distance faster than you’ve ever thought possible and your dome break as you come in contact with the wall; thus you put even more magic in your protection while filling it with soft, spongy slime and just like that you manage to avoid a set of broken bones and internal traumas as you fall rudely on the floor of the second floor, directly diagonal of your mark and just about at the same level.

What do you do now?

The sound of the crossbow renew the vigor of your limbs and you jump for the closest pillar, the sound of thunder and crackling electricity follow the bolt as it imbed itself in the wall you were using for support a second ago, discharging its content onto the white marble and you look around fervently, trying to find anything that could come up to you and gore you in the next few seconds but, thankfully, you are completely alone and you immediately redirect your attention to Ahriman who has now changed his position to better keep in his sight while crouching low, the walls of his balcony are thick and he seem to trust them enough to keep him safe…

You peek to the right, than crouch left and send a cascade of bolt in his direction, you’ve already mapped out the length of his small support and your gross, oversaturated rain of spike is more than enough to overshadow his magical bolts, you hear satisfying crunches and accompanying sounds of destructions as your spells start bombarding his position again and again, forcing the high Inquisitor to crouch as screen of dusts start appearing from the debris as some acid filled spikes explode to rob even more of his cover.

These spells are undoubtedly taxing, but it’s proving very effective in keeping him down, if you continue your rain he’ll be forced to move out soon enough; do you continue to suppress him, or change your strategy?

magic duels are about thinking faster than him. Let's see if he can deal with 3 simultaneous attacks at once. Being hit by a fuck huge ball of ice, ice spikes that are thrown out, and the acid splash.

Once we got a clear shot and LoS on him. Also put an ice javelin straight through his heart. If he tries to defend with a magic shield? Manaphage his shield away so he gets impaled through the heart.
