You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

Time for school.

Last night was pretty great. Dinner with a movie. O’Hara went straight home after it finished up, as did the rest of your staff. You, being a bit lazy, decided on just bunking with Kitten for the night.

The rustling outside on the balcony indicates that it’s incredibly, incredibly, windy today. At least it won’t be hot. You can’t even imagine how well cooked you’d be inside the tanks during practice today.

You hit the showers, and ponder on Kitten’s shampoo. Hm, just shampoo. No conditioner, no soap, no body wash either. Eh, like she says, it works.

After the showers, you take a peek at your weight on the scales. Not a single pound gained or lost. EXCELLENT. Gotta maintain them curves somehow.

You dress yourself in your uniform, then decide on borrowing Kitten’s thigh highs. If you know anything about wind, it’s that you’re going to be cold, and bare legs do not like that one bit. You look over at Kitten, sleeping soundly under her covers. D’aaawww…

A knock at the door. “President! Ready for school?”

You open the door and say, “Yep! Ready to go!” You look down at Nancy’s legs, clad in pantyhose. “Nancy, pantyhose today?”

Nancy nods. “Yep, it’s pretty darn windy out here. Funny how it was hot just yesterday too!”

Lisa says, “Well we are on an academyship that’s moving. Of course the weather’s gonna vary.”

You sigh. “Yeah, I’d honestly prefer if the weather would, you know, stay consistent. At least back in Virginia the leaves fall in the fall, the snow falls in the winter, the rain falls in the spring, and the heat rises in the summer.”

Nancy presses her hands on her cheeks. “I’m more concerned this wind is gonna blow my skirt up!”

Lisa nods. “Yeah, that’ll be a problem.”

Ramirez lifts up her skirt, causing you all to recoil in horror… until she reveals that she’s wearing her gym shorts underneath. She looks at you all like you’re stupid. “You don’t wear your gym shorts underneath?”

Lisa says, “You know I don’t know what’s more impressive, the fact that you thought of that and I didn’t or the fact that you just lifted up your skirt without prompting.”

You shrug. “Whatever, let’s get to school.” You shut the door, then all of you hit the road.

“Oh yeah, Boss. A new list of tanks just came in for purchase. Wanna see ‘em?” asks Lisa.

“Sure, might as well.”

Lisa pulls out her smartphone and brings up the Wishlist page of Tankslist. She then hands it off to you. “You don’t have to purchase anything now, but there’ll be a new selection next week.”

Stridsvagn fm/31 (12,000) (Vintage)
LOOK AT THIS SHIT. IT’S GOT FUCKING WHEELS ON IT. YOU SEE THAT? 30 SECONDS BETWEEN TRACK AND WHEEL TRANSFERRAL. ALL TERRAIN. YOU NEED THIS TANK.

Stormartillerivagn m/43 (16,000) (Comp. Spec.)
105mm Howitzer. Casemate assault gun. Reliable enough. Crew of four.

Stridsvagn m/41 SII (12,000) (Comp. Spec.)
Swedish licensed production of the Panzer 38(t) Ausf. S. Thicker armor, better engine. 37mm Gun.

Stridsvagn m/42 (15,000) (Vintage)
Swedish design. 75mm Gun. Crew of four. Reliable, efficient, well protected. What more could you want from it?

Pansarvärnskanonvagn m/43 (12,000) (Comp. Spec.)
I KNOW IT’S JUST A SWEDISH TANK WITH A GERMAN CONVERSION. DON’T READ THE FUCKING FINE PRINT NEXT TIME.

Crew of four. New casemate design.

… “Why are they all Swedish?”

Lisa shrugs. “Hell if I know.”

> Note: You can put a tank on your Wishlist. This will reserve it for an additional week, but will replace the fifth slot for the next selection of tanks.

That is so true. Probably best to scope out for museum curators or private collectors, then attach a condition that it won't be used for tankery for... eh... as long as it takes until we win the tourney, I guess?

Pretty much the only problem with letting it go is some other school using it against us.

We can ask for Octavia's opinion later though.

Actually, the Stridsvagn m/42 is a fairly fast 75mm gun and the Stormartillerivagn is a nice 105mm Howitzer.

“Let’s come back to these later. I’m not exactly educated in the art of Swedish tanks.”

Lisa nods. “Alright then,” she withdraws her smartphone into her pocket. “Still, quite surprised the Swedish had tanks during the war.”

You say, “Oh you’d be surprised!” You actually didn’t know that either, but hell, you’re not gonna let them know that.

True to your words earlier, it is windier than Chicago outside. You press down the front of your skirt so it doesn’t flap around like a 1920’s whore, as do the rest of your staff. Gotta stay modest and decent after all, this ain’t no party school.

You arrive at the entrance of the campus. You check the time, plenty of time before class actually.

Don't sell the T28, it's the perfect anchor. Nothing is going to penetrate the front of the tank, and the only way to take it out is by going for the tracks, and it has 4 of them.

Just have your TDs hang back and pick off any tank that tries to take out the T28, have mediums screen to the left and right to prevent any enemy forces flanking the T28 and use the Churchill as a secondary anchor so that you can bolster a flank that is getting overwhelmed.
>>
>>28341441
I'm seeing a 12 mile range on the 105, but realistically how far could we expect an amateur crew to be accurate at?
>>
> Take a walk around

You bid farewell to your crews and decide on taking a walk around the campus square. It may be windy as fuck, but hell it’s refreshing after the past few days of hotter than hell. You pass by the statue of the Marquis de La Fayette, then you remember your math quiz. You quickly walk back, spin the spurs on his boots, then continue on.

At that point, you see O’Hara and O’Brian.

You wave and walk over to them. “O’Hara, O’Brian! Good to see you!”

O’Hara nods to you, her characteristic hardiness is back on her face. “Pool. Nice to see you too. Need something?”

You shrug. “Oh, just thought I’d say hi. You have a fun time last night?”

O’Hara is about to say something, when she quickly looks over at O’Brian. “Don’t say anything you cunt.”

O’Brian wakes up. “What? What happen?”

“WERE YOU SLEEPING AGAIN!?”

“Oh shut up! Did you Pool shag already ‘cuz-“

“WE DID NOT! YOU FUCKING CUNT! GET OUT OF HERE!”

With that, O’Brian shrugs then walks away. O’Hara sighs and looks back at you. “So, how are you doing then?”

Park the chruchill against its arse and nothing can penetrate the thing. It was designed to break the goddamned Siegfried line with force and armor alone, but was so massive it couldn't be hauled across the Atlantic in time. That's how awesome it is.

1 km is possible with WW2 era equipment, if you're using a long range cannon and use a german FERO (still used in the Leopard 2 line as an emergency sight). However this requires a well trained crew to pull off succesfully.

Accuracy drops rapidly at ranges beyond that without computer aided gunnery

“I’m doing quite well, O’Hara. Thanks. What about you?”

O’Hara crosses her arms. “Oh, I could be better I suppose. Pinkerton and O’Bannon have been assigned as part of my Shift actually.”

“That can’t be good.”

She shakes her head. “On the contrary, they’re quite efficient. They’re just a bunch of cunts.” She points at you. “They seem to have a bone to pick with you in particular.”

You sway to the left a bit, shrugging. “Well, I mighta tattled on them a few days back.”

“Ah, if there’s anything a Hall Monitor hates, it’s a snitch.”

You say, “What’s done is done. Besides, you can at least control them, can’t you?”

O’Hara says, “I only say where they’re going to patrol. I’m not a Nazi.” She sighs. “Anyway, Pool, I truly did have a bit of fun last night. Gettysburg is a real fun movie!”

You say, “Well, I’m not as educated on the Civil War, plus you know, it’s four hours long.”

O’Hara nods. “Ah, you probably wouldn’t like the Director’s Cut of Gods and Generals then.” She waves you off. “Anyway, I wanted to tell you something-“

A very convenient and sudden gust of wind then decides it hates you by blowing your skirt up. You quickly push it down, but not before you gave O’Hara a very good look at your tighty whities. You chuckle nervously, blushing.

O’Hara’s redder than a sunset.

“Uh- I- Eh. Yeah-“ she stammers, then quickly points behind her. “I should go.” She quickly runs away like a track star, knocking an unfortunate freshman onto the ground.

She simply waves you off. Oh, that’s fine. She then picks her up her stuff and offers her hand.

Oh OH, she wants to shake your hand. You shake it, looking at her a bit curiously.

“You don’t say much, do you?” you say. She simply shakes her head. Well, at least you know she ain’t deaf.

However, she surprises you by saying her name, “Loretta Niven.” She simply gestures her hand and then slowly says, “Sorry… I have a stutter.”

You nod. “You seem fine.” She simply shrugs at that. Welp, ain’t gonna argue that. “Anyway, my name is Gertrude Pool. It’s nice to meet you, Loretta.”

You check the time. OH BOY TIME FOR MATH. You quickly wave goodbye to Niven then head to class.

Old tanks didn't require much math to operate. Their gunnery sight just had a reticle printed on it that approximated ballistics and drop at a particular distance, like a regular old rifle scope.

For range finding, count the time between the flash and hearing the boom of the enemy tank's cannon in "one Mississippi's and times it by 340 meters to determine which dash on the reticle to use.

Or the gunner's reticle would have the approximate width of a tank on it, so you'd square the reticle up on the notches and it would give you a range. All the math and shit was done by the people who designed the tank, the proles operating the thing barely need to know how to read and count on their fingers.

Hanna grins. “Really?! Wonderful!” She hugs your wet bare naked body. “Oh thank you so much! You won’t regret it all!” She quickly withdraws, but is non-plussed and continues beaming.

You wave her off. “Don’t worry. I suppose you can’t give me the details?”

Hanna nods. “Their club building is near the Solar farms at the stern of the ship. If you can, just talk to them, see if you can make them reconsider?”

You arrive at the Sports Warehouse, and already you can find your crews waiting at their tanks, talking and conversing amongst themselves. Dubois however appears conspicuously absent, she’ll probably arrive later though.

You’re more concerned that Kitten is standing off by herself, playing on her DS. You walk up next to her. “Hey, Kitten.”

Kitten looks over at you. “Hey, Trudy.” She looks down at your legs. “Ah, thought I missing something. Gotta say, that little space of skin between the skirt and your legs is tasty, Trudy.”

You smile proudly. “Well, thank you, Kitten. If only there were some guys my age in our general proximity who could appreciate it. Boxers would just drop, I’m sure.”

With that, your staff arrive as well. “Hey, President!” says Nancy. “Looks like everyone’s here.”

The crew commanders from all the teams walk up over to you. “Hey, Gertrude,” says Cathy. “We wanted to ask you something.”

“Shoot.”

Cathy says, “We’ve been thinking, and we wanted to paint our tanks!”

Anna nods as well. “Something to get rid of these boring greys and greens and all that.”

Janek looks at you hopefully. “So can we?”

You scratch your chin, thinking on it.

Meh. Fuck it, what’s the worse that can happen?

You nod. “Sure. Why not?”

They all cheer.

> + 5 MORALE ACROSS ALL CREW

With that, the characteristic roar of an engine is heard, and you look over at the entrance to the Sports Warehouse. The Sheridan quickly drives in and stops near you. Dubois pops out of the Commander’s hatch. “Afternoon, Pool. Ready for practice?”

You nod and give her thumbs up. “Always ready!”

Dubois smiles, then hops out and stands on top of the turret. “Good, good. Everyone, gather around! Today’s gonna be a real special day.”

All the crews gather in front of the Sheridan, and wait patiently for Dubois to start. They all quiet down.

“Alright, yesterday, your tanks have been fitted with the necessary equipment to make them all Tankery legal. I’m sure you all have done the necessary research of course, and I think it’s time for your very first mock battle!”

> - 10 MORALE ACROSS ALL CREW

Oh boy. Uh… You look over at Nancy. She’s certainly smiling, but her eyes have gotten that thousand yard stare thing again.

Dubois hops down from her tank and begins handing out maps. “These will be your starting positions, report there and once everyone’s in place. We can begin!” Dubois hands you your map. Oh Christ, you’ve never read a map before. At least a PHYSICAL one. “Ready, Pool?”

You point at them as you assign their roles. “Ramirez, you gun. Kitten, loader. Lisa, Driver. Nancy, you’ll co-drive and handle comms. Sound good?”

They all shrug and mutter.

You nod. “Right then. Saddle up, girls!”

Everyone takes their places within the Sherman. With that, Lisa brings the engine to life and drives the Sherman out of the Warehouse.

You’ve all been provided headsets to communicate with each other over the intense engine noise. You poke your head out of the commander’s cupola, along with Nancy poking her head out as well.

You need to remember to get the turret with two hatches, that’ll definitely simplify things. Maybe it’ll get a chance for Kitten to get some air.

Now that you think about it though, which tank did the Rifle team pick since you sold the BT-42?

Eh, you’ll figure it out soon enough.

Nancy guides Lisa to your starting position within some mess of trees. Then, turns the engine off. Now all that’s left is waiting.

Nancy climbs up out of her position and leans back on the turret. She looks over at you and asks, “Think we’ll win?”

With that, Dubois speaks to everyone over your headsets. “Now that you’re all in place, let me explain. This will be a Free-for-all elimination match. Last man standing wins. All rules apply.”

You look to the sky, you can barely make out a quadcopterr drone however above the forest. Must be what Dubois is using to observe the fight.

“Now then, let’s get on the bounce.” says Dubois. With that, a flare shoots up into the sky and explodes into a white flurry. “Begin!”

You quickly duck into the turret. Nancy as well heads down into her position. Lisa turns the engine back on and sends the Sherman forward through the forst.

The forest is definitely going to lend itself to some close quarters fighting. How do you want to approach this?

The Sherman crawls through the forest as you peer the periscope. You don’t have much of a view, but it’s certainly better than just sticking your head out.

Wait, why don’t you just stick your head out? It’s not like someone’s going to shoot you.

You unbutton the hatch and stick your head out, only to immediately meet a couple of branches.

Okay, back into the turret.

You peer through, sweeping the view of the periscope through the trees and bushes, a narrow field of view but at least you’re not getting hit in the face with trees.

Suddenly, you hear something. It sounds like another engine. You can’t see them and you’re not sure whether they can see you.

“Where?”

“I DON’T CARE WHERE, JUST DRIVE! RAMIREZ, FIRE THE GUN NOW!”

Ramirez quickly sights in the gun, then fires. You take a peek out the periscope. Barely a scratch off their turret armor. The Churchill fires back, and immediately the Sherman shakes, with a loud bang coming out of your left. Sounded like a glancing hit off your turret.

“WHAT WAS THAT!?” yells Nancy.

“We’re okay! We’re okay!” you shout. The Sherman reverses, then immediately turns around and starts legging it through the foliage.

You unbutton the cupola and poke your head out back. The Churchill is giving chase. It fires again, this time with the 3-inch gun and this time missing and splashing against a tree. Your Sherman is slowed by the dense shrubbery, while the Churchill, while slow, appears right at home in this terrain.

Neither of you is going to catch up or lose each other at this rate.

Too many trees. Mobility kill is fine for now. They can repair the tracks sure but it'll take a while.

Tracking it is going to be difficult. The Sherman is firing a 75mm projectile, the Churchill has a track width of 559mm and it has multiple road wheels many of which are redundant.

“RAMIREZ!”

Ramirez takes off her headset for a minute to stick her finger in her ear. She looks at you.

“Ramirez! Bring the turret around! Aim for their tracks!”

She nods, and quickly begins the task of turning the turret. Another sharp crack reverberates against the Sherman.

“THEY’RE SHOOTING AT US!” screams Nancy.

If there’s anything you know about the Sherman, it’s that the Turret can turn pretty damn quick. Kitten loads in a new round, you’re not sure what round but hell you don’t care at this point. You tug on your collar, waiting for the next shell, yours or theirs.

Yours actually.

The shell explodes against the Churchill’s right tread, sending track links flying every which away. The Churchill skids right into a tree, stopping.

“Lisa! Bring us around their rear!”

“Okay!”

The Sherman stops, then reverses, narrowly missing a shot from the 2 Pounder gun. The Churchill struggles to bring it’s turret around to face you, but it is vain. The Sherman reverses around the rear and brings the gun to bear.

“FIRE!”

The Sherman puts a hole right into the engine block, and out pops a white flag on the Churchill’s turret.

You poke your head out of the cupola as you inspect the damage. Two very large gashes across your turret on both sides. Man, that could’ve been close. You lean back and let the air hit you like a fresh shower.

The Sherman crawls ahead at slow pace, as it does so you scan around. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Soon enough, you’re out into a very roomy clearing.

Don't move into the clearing, if the enemy can see you, you can see them. There gun hasn't penetrated your frontal armor, so I'm doubtful it can at all. Search for the dust cloud the cannon would have kicked up.

By moving into the clearing you're effectively putting yourself in a position that allows the enemy to attack from the sides while remaining in a concealed position

“Lisa! Advance, full speed!”

The Sherman’s engine roars as Lisa puts the pedal to the metal. You peer out the periscope and scan your front. A burst of light, a muzzleflash. Again, another bounce off your front, creating a very chilling echo that Nancy does like at all.

“THEY’RE SHOOTING AT US!”

“No, really, Nancy, I HADN’T NOTICED!” says Lisa.

Nancy flails in her seat. “THIS IS TOO MUCH! I HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE!” Another bouncing shell causes another scream out of here. Against all logic, she tries to crawl out the front hatch. Lisa takes her attention off the controls to try and drag her back.

“NANCY! GET BACK IN HERE!”

Suddenly, a very loud explosion occurs near your right. That was DEFINITELY not from the tank shooting at you. You bring the periscope right. It’s the T28/T95 GMC, breaking cover to engage your right.

“WE’RE DONE FOR! LET ME GO!”

“LET ME OUT OF HERE!” You hug from Nancy behind, pinning her into the seat. She struggles and shakes against you, but you’ve got the upper hand.

“Nancy! It’s me! Gertrude! Stay calm! Relax!” Nancy shakes in her seat. Another bounce from off your front. “Nancy! Just relax! Okay! You’re not gonna get hurt! I promise! Just stay in your seat, please!”

With that, Nancy slowly begins calming down. Her breathing drops from hyperventilating to acceptable levels. Fine, you quickly climb back to the Commander’s chair.

The Sherman plods along at slow place through the forest. As it does, you consult the map. You and the S35 started on opposite sides of the forest, which means you’re probably a long ways away from each other.

You unbutton the cupola and look out. Nothing moving.

The Sherman continues plowing through the forest. Thankfully, you’re not hit in the head with any more trees or branches. But where could that S35 be?

In an Ambush, against an S35, the Sherman will win
>>
> Pursue them

“After them!”

The Sherman plows through the foliage and towards the S35’s last known position. You keep looking for them through the periscope, but so far you see occasional glimpses of its rear or its turret.

Then the S35 rips leftwards, and you being the pursuer follow them.

You look down at Ramirez.

“Think you got a shot, Ramirez?” you ask.

Ramirez bites her lip, peering through the gunsights. “I can see them… I don’t know. Want me to take the shot?”

You keep looking. On the hand, a lucky shot will definitely take them out.

On the other hand, if you miss, they’ll probably take advantage of it.

“Save it for now, Ramirez.”

The S35 keeps accelerating full tilt through the woods, with you following close behind. Although the S35 might be smaller, these woods are not doing it any favors to it or your Sherman.

Their turret traverses around to face you, and a shot is fired at your frontal armor. It bounces off, but leaves a very nasty scratch.

You set your jaw. They’ll eventually hit a tree or something and then you’ll be able to claim victory.

Then, the S35 turns left and into the trees. Looks like they’re trying to flank you.

“Lisa! Bring the frontal armor around!”

The Sherman begins traversing, but then suddenly you’re met with a very worrying and very familiar metallic snap.

> MOBILITY KILL: M4 SHERMAN (COMP. SPEC.)

Lisa turns back to you-

“Don’t tell me,” you say. “You forgot the Sherman can’t pivot turn.”

Lisa nods. “Yep.”

You look over at Ramirez. “Bring the turret around! We got one shot at this!” You can’t afford a breakdown now. It’s now or never.

Ramirez immediately begins traversing the turret towards the S35. The S35 stops, traverses it’s own turret, and fires towards your side armor. It hits a nearby tree. Your turn.

Ramirez fires.

It slams into the S35’s side. A little white flag pops out.

> KO: SOMUA S35 (COMP. SPEC.)

Dubois says over the headset. “Last man standing: the M4 Sherman!”

You collapse into your commander’s chair.

There are those chills again. You exhale, hugging yourself again.

Lisa looks back at you, grinning. “We won! We won!”

“We sure did! Good job everyone! We got three kills under our belt here!”

Kitten high fives you, cheering. You also high five Ramirez for the winning shot. Lisa hugs the still somewhat catatonic Nancy, who slowly comes around to realizing what happened.

“We won?” she asks.

You nod violently. “Of course we did! Our tanks totally fucked but we did it!”

With that in mind, now begins the recovery. None of the tanks can go back to the Sports Warehouse under their own power, so the Naval Studies Engineering kids procure the Bergepanzer III and start towing.

All the crews report outside the Sports Warehouse, the sun is already setting on the day.

You can see all the crews look positively exhausted. Some look a bit unhappy.

You quirk your brow. “Really?”

Dubois nods. “Really. We actually talked shop about tanks a bit. Took bets on whether or not you’d win.”

“… of course you bet for me right?”

Dubois bursts into laughter, slapping her knee. She wipes a tear out of her, calms down for a moment, then says, “No.”

You nod. “Thanks for the confidence, Captain.”

You can’t wait until you get this kind of feeling again.

Marina and Samantha talk to you in the midst of your shower.

“Can’t believe we got taken out by the Sewing Club,” says Marina.

“At least you got taken out by someone. Our damn engine died.” Says Samantha.

You wave them off. “Relax girls, sometimes shit happens. You gotta learn to live with it.”

Marina sighs. “I suppose it does.” She puts her hands on her hips. “Still, I think an upgrade to our tank is in order.”

You nod. “We’ll see.”

Samantha looks over at you. “When’s our tank coming?”

“Thursday morning. You’ll have it in time for practice.”
