What have I done tg.

Dominions thread.

Playing Ermor, made that thing my prophet to give it my blessing, taught it minor magic for some passive defense, gave it lucky and armor/revig/defense equipment, (would have given lycanthropic amulet for kicks but dam cursed.) and then shoved a soul into it to make it capable of being a commander before letting it loose on the Ulm.

Just watched it route that army of 500+ heavy infantry/cavalry and giant wolves by itself after it went independent.

The good but disappointing news is when it abandoned me it stopped benefiting from my blessing, so it lost +5 defense, +4 magic resist, quickness, twist fate, +400% affliction chance, death weapons, and 5% regeneration.

It will probably walk around with a penalty to health, strength, and magic resist forever due to friendly dominion no longer existing, if it somehow does gain benefits from being in my dominion that would be hilarious.

And yeah this is probably awful compared to any late game SC, I'm a bit new to this and the only items I had available were scraps I got from the AI impaling itself on my undead, and the only gems I get are death for the most part.

Any way I can regain control of this? giving it my blessing again and getting the dominion bonuses back would be rather nice, as would not having an acid raining holy 1500+ health eldritch god backdoor me through a river.

If that is not possible then some tips on how to make a SC capable of punching its face in would be good too. I don't see me bumrushing this thing with 500 undead working out very well.

Also spent a few hours failing to find a working torrent for 4 and it is not on steam yet dammit.

It's only got 21 MR. Some mages with penetration gear casting Contol the Dead or Enslave Mind should do the trick.

Alternatively, if you just want to kill it off, spam Soul Slay or Disintegrate.

Hmm, sent a trio of mound fiends to try to Control the Dead it, they decided to spam raise dead before running away, did cast Control the Dead three times however, but all three failed sadly. Not enough penetration?

I had them all set to retreat after casting 5 times but forgot one of them had that cursed lycanthrop amulet. Interestingness ensued.

Heroic health, ethereal, regenerating, berserk +4 exp priest with a halberd (forgot that too.) dueled it for 65 rounds before dying.

Seems it managed to tank the acid rain and smites with life drain and regen+large health pool, and dodged all the melee attacks.

The eater now seems to have a base health of 2000, after killing another thousand Ulm units, but not before getting a few horror marks.

That should be really interesting if I ever manage to take control again.

Yeah, blood slaves are auto deposited, permanent gem generators got cut out and replaced with battle only gem gens, tax sliders got thrown out and instead gave order scales and province defence automatically reduce unrest.
Some commanders for nations take two turns to recruit, not one so you can't spam a million arch mages anymore.

Forgot that you can't tell what all those little trait icons are on the eater, so here they are:

regens 20% of his max health round of combat.
is immune to poison and cold.
radiates disease.
tramples smaller units.
slowly heals all afflictions. (battle wounds, like limps or missing eyes)
can move underwater with some penalty.
has all the benefits/penaltys of being undead. (but lacks mindless trait that most undead have, so can gain experience)
does not eat. (heh)
has fatigue drop by 3 every round of combat.
ignores 50% of attacks that would have otherwise hit.
spreads his owner's dominion. (think right now he just reduces other people's dominion, but cant spread any)
always has his owner's blessing. (without an owner it is just +2 morale, but if I owned him it would be +5 defense, +4 magic resist, quickness, twist fate, +400% affliction chance, death weapons, and 5% regeneration as well)

And as a side effect of being a prophet its stats go up/down depending on the strength of the dominion of the province he is in, which currently is just hurting them massively.

Annnnnd they also have a hidden trait that causes acid rain to hit everyone on the battlefield every turn except for them, which seems to do like 1 to 15 damageish. Might be limited to enemys only.

Sadly it seems it does not gain hall of fame bonuses, otherwise it would have another like 5-10 strength or some other stat.

His weapons:

crush attack(s) pierce armor.
Touch of leprosy inflicts disease.
life drain pierces armor, is magic, and drains life.
steal strength negates armor, but can be negated by magic resist, it is also considered magic and inflicts... additional weakness, whatever that is.

They also know level 3 holy magic, level 2 water, and 1 death. Will work on empowering that if I ever regain control.

I'm not sure if indies ever get anything past 0th level spells, which is kinda a shame. It has been ages since I played though, and I rarely come across indie mages anyhow.
Still, it'd be cool for some province to have a powerful mage warlord or something.

I always had mixed feeling about playing Ermor, on one hand it was silly easy to win, on the other you conquered the land with your unending hordes of undead.

I always ended up spending all my turn (or every couple of turns, depending how big my empire is\how lazy I'm feeling) separating the Ermor undead from your run-of-the-mill zombie hordes. The latter were used as vanguards to soften enemies up, then the elites with mages (and actual tactics assigned) would come in to finish the job.

I enjoyed imagining the defender's relief at fighting off a gigantic horde of arisen peasantry from their lands and other long since conquered being replaced by terror as they see the ordered ranks of the second army marching towards them.

Really though, all the army management sucked hard. Is the UI moddable at all? Some simple empire management scripts like sending troops to rally points after recruitment would be nice (and easy to write).

Eremor the realm of the dead have unleashed an ancient Horror known as the Eater of the Dead. Origionally its a useful tool but when it eats enough, it breaks free and seeks to devour all. Summoned an eldritch horror, pimped it out a bit and taught it magic before making it the leader of my god cult, then fed it too many corpses and it decided it didn't need me anymore.

Now it has devoured 12,000 people and many more corpses, snowballing into an unstoppable wrecking ball that travels around the globe butchering armies, raping churches, and burning women.

During this I chase behind it with dozens of mages in vain attempts to bring it back under my control because I want to make it even more powerful before the eldritch curse on it attracts a bigger fish to eat it.

Though I am not sure if there are any fish bigger than this one anymore.

Pretty much unleashed the destroyer of worlds because I wanted more power.

Ulm has wiped out 4 of the factions and has the last one that Isnt me backed into a corner, they keep suicide diving 50-200 soldiers into my 500-2000 undead that sit on the ports, but eventually they always get through and then I have to dredge up reinforcements from inland and cart over 3000 undead to take it back.

Planning on adding utterdark to the list of things wrong with this world just to fuck them over.

National summons of Late Age Agartha, all Pale Ones are dead, so the humans take over their underground empire, worshiping dead Oracles and great Marble Statues. Ruling class is a bunch of necromancers and geomancers, animating those marvelous giants to wage wars.
Iron skeletons and exploding skeletons are some of my favorite national summons (along Pale Ones wights armed with glaives, who stop sucking at least in death).

Fun thing is that with so many HP it is almost impervious to afflictions, even while cursed.

Well now I am the sads /tg/.

Lich had the eye, wizard ring, sorcery ring, and dual mage bashers with 16 death magic skill, had those 30 elders backing him up and another dozen skeletons with black bows behind them.

Feeblemind + dominion penalty did it and I managed to convert it, but.

I lost it in the exact same turn due to how powerful it is.

Looks like I'm going to have to put old yeller down.

I don't think spamming horror marks will do much, considering the large number of afflictions it gets and heals every turn from horrors I assume, and I also lack astral mages/gems as well.

It just wiped out half of my military, the Ulm are coming in through the now undefended port it tore the shit out of, and it is currently parked right next to my capital that it just blazed a trail to.

Due to the number of temples it just destroyed, and probably its prophet ability, it is also reducing my dominion right outside my capital to nothing which I am sure the Ulm's will fill soon.

alright I have decided if I keep turtling this thing will crush me, so I am moving the other half of my forces that it did not eat out to attack.

Probably not going to work honestly. most of the massive looking chunks of army on this picture are only groups of 500 longdead, but I do have several thousand total. Problem is Ulm's armys are rather massive, and filled with heavy units that are worth a shit. Destroying his temples to allow my dominion to make his land as shitty as mine is priority number one after the devouer is dealt with.

Once my mages finish researching disintegrate, assuming they succeed at killing the devourer and mostly live, I will have them spend thousands of death gems on animating an army of lictors and banshees for the next prophet to lead directly to Ulm's capital.

My bless is incredible, so I expect them to tear the fuck out of everything. Last time I had the devourer lead an army of 265 blessed lictors the only reason the rape train ended is because the devourer switched sides.

Cast Soul Gate, Ulm AI cannot handle etherial legionaries (except maybe ocassional Iron Blizzard spam) and those beauties.
Actually those can even kill your Nemesis, if they survive an acid storm and get lucky with MR roll.
Or Restore soul them, give a Black Heart (takes blood though) and enjoy your new assassin corps.

Yeah was working on researching towards utterdark actually.

So I'm pretty sure the devourer just imploded.

1v600 underwater fight, interesting note, ACID RAIN DOES NOT WORK UNDERWATER HOLY SHIT.

Though that didnt seem to mean much since it was still regenerating 1k health every round.

After about 50 rounds it just disappeared seemingly randomly. Hall of fame says it has -5733 health and is dead.

It was at full health when it happened, there was only one 3 death caster in the battle at the time and he was passed out, and then 10ish holy 1 priests.

what the fuck just happened.

Only sacrifice I know of is a Blood sacrifice to spread your dominion - kill virgins, get candles.
There is also a Void Gate special magic site at LA R`lyeh capital, where starspawns go to summon various Eldritch horrors.

I won't forget all the memorys we all shared with the devourer of corpses.

Like that time they stopped obeying my orders and killed 2000 Ulms after abandoning my army and leaving them to die in the middle of enemy territory.

Or that time they slowly tortured my favorite lycanthropic ghost priest to death over 65 rounds.

And the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd times they killed 3000 of my people in the port city that was my barricade between me and the Ulm.

Also that time I sent 28 mages to convince it to join me again and they all melted to death from acid, and then the 2nd time that happened too.

But most of all I won't forget that time they rampaged through the center of my land destroying 5 temples, killing 8000 of my troops and 80 commanders before leaping into the ocean to chase after the survivors that were trying to escape.

And then... and then...

DAMMIT HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED.

I loved that.... thing. That mass of twenty thousand rotting corpses. They were so young and full of life, taken away from all of us in their prime.

I think deep down the eater of corpses touched us all in a way we will never forget.

sometimes you don't know how much you miss the destroyer of worlds until they are gone and it's too late.

I found a nifty niche use for Sleepers. They have a 15 precision base, right? And Bow of War under CBM launches 25 arrows per shot. Combined with Quickness boots that makes 50 arrows per round.
So my chaff armies are now led by those guys who shot 50 arrows per turn at enemy rear with a perfect aim. Those arrows do not ever deviate. Quite a machinegun.

MA Ulm is the most boring of the three ages in my opinion, but they're probably the best for pulling off crazy item forging and they get an Iron Angel national summon to stick all their crazy gear on.

Tir Na Nog has really good troops and wizards with great paths.
