My people, hearken to me! Now is the sacred time, and again we relate the history of our people.

The past two years have seen our clan settle new lands claimed from hated rivals, explore the reaches of Dragon Pass, and begin the process of forming alliances with our neighbors, for the purpose of tribe making. In the process, our reputation has soared to unseen heights, and other clans tell our traders that the Fimbulvetr are a clan of kingmakers.

Here's the clan screen. In the future I might just apply magic myself to speed things up, putting points into Mysteries depending on whether or not we've decided we need one of the blessings we don't have enshrined.

Speaking of enshrining, here's our list of clan assets.

Shrines:
Barntar--Vigor
Elmal--Sun, Shield
Ernalda--Bless Crops
Humakt--Truesword
Issaries--Silvertongue
Lhankor Mhy--Literacy
Maran Gor--Earthblood
Orlanth--Rain
Tarard Riel--Watchfulness
Vinga--Fyrdwomen
Wind Spirits--N/A

Blessings that might be useful on a permanent basis: Humakt (Battle Luck OR Morale), Issaries (Market), Uralda (Calf Blessing), Urox (X Chaos)

Treasure: Parentheses are where the treasure came from.

Bullroarer (Exploration)
Eurmal's Shield (Trade)
Eye Mirror (Adventurers)
Godbone (Adventurers)
Grey Net (Exploration)
Gustbran's Wheel (Heroquest, godsrealm)
Humakt's Raven Banner (Exploration)
Klanth of Orlanth (Heroquest, Orlanth and Aroka)
Red Leather Mask (Adventurers)
Shimmering Cloak (Adventurers)
Silver Dragon (Exploration, dragonnewts)
Splendorbread (Heroquest, Orlanth and Aroka)
Vargast's Ring (Trade)
>>
>>28401029
Go ahead and do the usual. One point in mysteries just in case.
>>
>>28401029
Hail, Heort-Son.

Important points at present:
Do Humakt the Champion, get Humakt's Shield
Do Orlanth & Aroka /again/, acquire Bag of Winds

Build Temple of Humakt (Battle Luck)
Built Shrine of Odayla (Tracking)
Sacrifice to Vinga (Pathfinder)

When you hit 1200+ population, switch Shrine of Vinga to Pathfinder and sacrifice for Fyrdwomen - you have on average 50% of your adults as fyrd, and your clan should have 50% adults and 50% crotch-spawn (ideally).

With >20 Weaponthanes, 250+ Fyrd, Watchfulness from Tarard Riel and a tula that isn't comically oversized, you should always be able to spot them and beat the stuffing out of invaders.
>>
>>28401188
We should fill all of them except children. We can afford it.

Let's focus this year on diplomacy. See if we can get an alliance with the Rune Ducks, then with our other neighbors, especially the one to the south.

We should also see about beating on the guys who are still feuding with us until they offer to give us tribute rather than being beaten. So we can avoid that. But that's later.

Let's get the last useful temples, and and focus on building our population of carls and weapon thanes, as well as hunters (for patrols) and crafters (for goods to give out lots of gifts so we can make tons of friends).

Then we complete our last few hero quests, and form a tribe with every tribe currently in the north (that isn't Jenestri)
>>
>>28401029

This fucking game, I swear to god.

A new Elmali appeared in our outer ring tab, and he blows the guy we've been raising to take over out of the water. His stats are incredible, and his Leadership is higher than our next best, who's been strengthened by Orlanth and Aroka twice. Comes with better magic too, and he's six years younger. Hail to the chief.

Give me two events for Sea season. I'll go Heroquesting (O&A, for the Bag) and do diplomacy otherwise.

Old Milk Eyes has finally showed up. For those who don't know, he's the herald of the midgame, and his appearance suggests that we're finally ready to start tribe making. However, we're going to want AT LEAST a Heroic Bargainer before starting it, because the clan building skill checks are brutal. Having more local clans as allies will also help.

It's been a while since we've really run a heroquest.

In honor of the righteous asskickings we've been delivering, we're going to perform one of my favorite quests philosophically: Lhankor Mhy Finds the Truth.

First and foremost, we have to pick a blessing to seek.

Making the quester stronger is my suggestion, since we want to buff Kentvent to be a good Customs agent.
>>

>>28405227
Didn't we heroquest last year? Do we have some omen or treasure to keep this from failing horribly?

>>28405486
You can reliably heroquest every year. It's heroquesting twice in one year that gets you in trouble.

Lhankor Mhy is one of the easier quests anyway.
>>
>>28405227
That or learning more about dragon pass I guess?

Also we should go looking for dwarves again later on. One more gift to the Lonisi, then we offer an alliance
>>
>>28405306

Let us make Kentvent a customs MONSTER.

He'll compose poems with one hand and fill out the forms to compose poems with the other! AT THE SAME TIME.

Strengthening it is.

You have the option to choose people from your tribe to play the role of the characters mentioned in the myth. Since we've lost our Uroxi and our Issarian I'm going to go ahead and say that we want to let the gods appear in this play as themselves. Admittedly, that's pretty awesome.

Before we start, does anyone know the myth?

>>28405582
Learning more reveals map areas. It's honestly not a bad choice for first time players, but I know where we're going.
>>
>>28405596
>He'll compose poems with one hand and fill out the forms to compose poems with the other! AT THE SAME TIME.

But will he fight off invading grey dogs with a sword held in one foot while cartographing the map's of unexplored land with other foot?

His mouth is occupied shouting magic to banish chaos beings.

Fuck, this event again.

Harvar has Renowned Combat, Good Magic, Excellent Leadership. He's probably fucked.

Challenge!
>>
>>28410359
I thought it was challenging that we always tried and never worked?

>>28410395
We've tried both, and neither worked.
>>

Oh, well I'm pretty new to this so I'm probably wrong.
but you must admit challenging makes a better story
>>
>>28410395
does shooting or fighting in single combat use 'combat'? or does challange require bargaining/leadership. WHO NOES!

No deaths on our side? We are the storm.

>>28410455
They both use Combat, but I think challenge uses either Bargaining or Leadership to convince him to fight, and the other uses Magic.
>>
>>28410435
Do we ever get bullshit save-the-defenders-ass-despite-being-outnumbered events like that when we're on defense, or are flying rune wizards only available to the AI?
>>
>>28410481
I think its an orlanthi shrine power
>>
>>28410477

While our warriors and nobles are pretty awesome, our auxiliaries aren't too shabby themselves. They must have one hell of a medic in charge of triage.

>>28410481
I'm pretty sure that any noble with a decent Magic stat is hurling lightning bolts. We just don't hear about it because they handle themselves so well.

>>28410517
We're doing very well, particularly considering how we're lacking any Chalana Arroy worshipers.

Lots of undead re-killed. That could have ended badly for us.

What do we give them, and how much of it?
>>
>>28410608

40 cattle, 45 goods?

Is 40 cattle considered a generous amount?
>>
>>28410637
Extraordinarily. Working for a year, a person might make enough to afford 1 cow. I think.
>>
>>28410693

35 Cattle, 45 goods then. Or as near as you can if the slider is being temperamental again.
>>
>>28410693
They saved our asses something feirce. They deserve it, and it makes us look REALLY fucking good.
>>
>>28410693

>>28410712

Yeah, the original sum of 40 cattle 45 goods sounds about right for killing lots of undead right on our doorstep.

Damn. Was preparing another raid on the Greydogs but then this happened. Even if you have ice demons as your main enemies, sometimes you'll fail in your attack. When that happens, you lose magic instead of gaining it.
>>
>>28410788
Ouch.

Okay, what else can we do during dark?

Just finding out that we were on our way has the Greydogs offering peace again. What do we try to get out of them?

>>28410797
This Dark? Nothing, it's Storm next. Generally, actions that have you leaving the tula have a good chance of failure. In our case, raiding has a smaller chance of failing and provides magic when successful, which is why we do it every chance in Dark.
>>
>>28410846
Just get peace out of them 15 cows is enough.

I just cranked up our number of weaponthanes to 25, my apologies for not showing it or asking.

A wandering Uroxi has decided that our cattle are Chaos infected. What do we do about his claims?
>>
>>28411016
Always ALWAYS use divinations when it comes to animals or goods
>>
>>28411016
How does he know? What's the test to see if cows are infected or not? Question him.

Hmm.... Going to have to clear some forest, the cows and sheep are way overcrowded. Like, whoa, that's bad.

Could also be a sign to increase the number of shrines...
>>
>>28411144
Makes sense.

We should increase our number of shrines!

Let's spend next year on diplomacy and consolidation, get a fuck ton more fields and pastures.

This could be fun or nightmarish, depending on how this year goes down.

That's the end for today. Thanks for playing, see you all tomorrow. If you've got questions, I'll stick around for a little while.
>>
>>28411195
How do we get more trade routes? We should probably have a trade route with each of our allies right?
>>
>>28411252
Trade routes are determined by how many points you put into trade every Sacred Time and the size of your Issaries shrine (though I think it's the Market mystery that actually does it). Having one with allies is nice, since it's harder to piss off allies, and feuding clans can't trade, but it's not necessary. I think allied trade routes are easier to set up.
>>
>>28411195
What's your prognosis on tribe formation? Or at least readiness for Elmal's quest?
>>
>>28411195
what does trickster magic being more reliable mean?

Does it mean it's more likely to do what we want?

Or does it mean that we're going to have him be more reliably tricksterish?
>>
>>28411291

Feuding clans can totally trade.
>>
>>28411291
So we want a BIG shrine of Issaries?
>>
>>28411397
We're just about ready for the tribe. Getting the Tree Brothers is more important than the Mule Deers, I'd be delighted not to have the Long-Planning clan in the tribe.

One is never truly ready for Elmal, it destroys all equally and without regard to stats or stocked magic.

>>28411409
>Does it mean it's more likely to do what we want?
This. Note that it doesn't say that it's going to be reliably GOOD though.

>>28411420
Really? I suppose I've never tried to keep up my trade routes with clans I'm about to start feuding with.

>>28411425
At least one with Market.
>>
>>28411477
Well let's get tree brothers then. We don't -have- to get mule deers I guess... but we should drive them out of the area then! Replace them completely just like we're going to the Jene-faces.
