The five Great Priests of Ligish meet in their secret chamber, far below the eerily quiet streets.

The Blood Priest holds up a small sack. "The adventurers still loyal to us have found what we've been seeking. A relic from before the Flood, powerful enough to restore order in the city and restore fear in our enemies."

He pulls out a heavy crystal of red salt with a faintly glowing scorpion preserved inside. "I have determined its use. With the proper ritual, this will turn a human girl into a monster that can topple armies. The younger the girl, the more potential the monster will have for growth." The others look on with interest. Other cities have been finding this kind of powerful magic and sending monstrous envoys to boast, causing widespread panic. "I recommend that we acquire some orphan girl and prepare the ritual without delay. Tomorrow will be more than enough time."

The Bronze Priest shakes his head. "Nonsense! The warrior schools will not respect a girl who is not of high birth, who lacks the favor of the gods. Expecting them to fight alongside some street filth would sow even more disunion." It escapes none of the others that the Bronze Priest has a daughter he dotes over.

The Gold Priest pounds on the table. "If it can only create one monster, we can't waste it! We have to train her in the art of war before she becomes too strong to be controlled. The ritual can wait, for years if need be."

The Rain Priest makes a worried noise. "Not years, perhaps... but days, at least! We should take some time to search the poorhouses, slave markets, and willing volunteers. Then we take one that's suitably healthy and loyal.

The Sand Priest wrings his hands. "Are we not going about this backwards, gentlemen? Rather than make a girl into a warrior, we could devise another blood ritual to turn our best warrior into a girl. That does not seem to be beyond our grasp. Remember when we turned that embezzling tax collector into a hyrax?"

(Whose plan wins out?)

After the other four priests are done blustering and pounding on the poor table, they settle down and have to admit that the Rain Priest is making the most sense. He may be the oldest and frailest, and his school of magic the least respected by the highborn, but dammit if he doesn't have some good ideas.

The next day, the Great Priests send heralds throughout the city escorted by loyal guards from the School of Adventurers and the School of Petty-Wizards. "Attention, all true sons and daughters of Ligish! Your king requires a young woman to embark on a spiritual journey." The more prudent heralds add, "And this time we're not just looking for blood sacrifices. This woman will actually survive her spiritual journey! She will return changed and restore Ligish to glory. Let those who do not fear service report to the pyramid's outer plaza at midday tomorrow."

The next day, crowds swarm around the pyramid, while guards organize a line of girls who have offered themselves. Some are women grown, others are barely old enough to walk, almost all look poor. Highborn girls from most of the nine rival Warriors' Schools pepper the line, though, as does the Bronze Priest's daughter.

The five Great Priests finally show themselves, their heavy hoods shielding their faces from the high sun. "So," asks the Blood Priest to his peers, "What is most important to us? Strength? Knowledge of warcraft? Loyalty to the priesthood? Something else? I don't care personally; I just want to get this farce over with a and pick one before someone gets it in their head to assassinate one of us."
>>

She'll be a huge fucking scorpion, she can wing it and successfully waste people, and there's no reason we can't teach her to kill more effectively, you can't teach loyalty and it's harder to create than knowledge of vital physiology.

"Loyalty!" Says the Bronze Priest without hesitation.
"Loyalty would seem the prudent choice," the Gold Priest chimes in. "A girl who cannot be bought. We have to buy enough as it is."
The Rain Priest simply nods.
The Sand Priest shrugs. "Loyalty is such a strong word... Gullibility. That word I like."

The priests take their time to question each girl. The ones who are too young or ignorant to even know who the priests are or what the King's name is are thrown out of the line. The children of the Warrior Schools are likewise removed from the line because they've been quarreling with each other so much - the Footmen's School has even declared a curfew of their own accord, without permission from the priests or the King. One girl is identified as the daughter of that tax collector who got turned into a hyrax, and she too is shooed away.

What remains is the Bronze Priest's pampered, slightly pudgy daughter and the older of the commoners and orphan girls. One of the older commoners claims to be a farmer's daughter and makes a very sweet declaration of love for the city and the gods. Another is the only commoner whose identity can be verified, a mason who works on the great public buildings and paints the statues by the front gates.

The Blood Priest knows what at least one of his peers will have to say about this choice, so he doesn't even bother to ask and makes the choice for himself.

First on the priests' agenda is restoring order to the city and teaching the Footmen's School that they're not such hot shit. Next on their shitlist is the city of Turtak, a former tributary to Ligish who recently sent an envoy to declare that they're not going to pay tribute any more. And the envoy was a centaur. They tried to kick him into a pit, but he jumped over it and ran away.

>>28421158

The Bronze Priest's daughter looks at her father with a look that says "Seriously?" The others look at each other and hesitate a moment before turning their heads in defeat. The Blood Priest barks an order to the guards. "Stop them." The other girls stop willingly, except for the Blood Priest's daughter, who hasn't even moved yet, and the reluctant orphan, who's still kicking and weeping even while a guard holds her up by the shoulders and carries her back.

"Forgive me for misleading you. Even priests have a sense of humor." The Blood Priest approaches the reluctant orphan. "What's the matter, girl? Don't want to go on an adventure? Don't want to be special?"

She tries to kick the Blood Priest. "Not really! They made me go. I don't wanna leave my friends. I don't even know what this dumb thing is!"

The Blood Priest laughs. Trying to hit him is a capital offense, but not when it's this funny. "You stay at a poorhouse, yes? They wanted you to go because they can't feed you all. They know that when you come with us, you'll never go hungry again. You'll be able to see your friends again one day. And even better, you'll be keeping them safe while you're away. You'll be keeping bad men away from them."

She pouts. "I guess that's not so bad..."

"Good. Bring her in." The guard slings her over his shoulder and carries her to the pyramid. The Bronze Priest raises his voice in protest. The Blood Priest rolls his eyes. "When I want your opinion, you'll know it. This is our girl. Now the only question is where we're going to get a tubful of human blood for the ritual. We could empty the king's dungeons... or we could use the other volunteers. Minus your lovely daughter, of course. Unless you have any further objections!"

The Bronze Priest raises no further objections. He got told pretty hard. Instead he turns to his daughter. "Go back to your guards and run along home, sweetie. It's for the best."

The Gold Priest answers instead. "We have no shortage of prisoners. And we'd be doing a service to the city by bleeding the guilty rather than the innocent. Whether the blood of young virgins is really more magical, well, you would know better than I. That's not my kind of magic."

The Blood Priest shrugs. "Well... for certain applications... but we can't have the people thinking that we're thoughtless butchers. I pride myself on being an extremely thoughtful butcher."

The crowds gradually disperse. The Rain Priest notes that the "farmer's daughter" walks straight into the ranks of spearmen from the Footmen's School, and they walk away together.

The adventurers and petty-wizards in service to the priesthood head to the king's dungeons, where they round up every murderer, thief, and rapist, plus a few men who were just out after curfew. While they're at it, they inform the weak young King of the city of what the Great Priests plan to do. He approves as though he has a say in the matter.

The priests head back into the pyramid, surrounding the guard who carries the orphan girl. They ask her questions. "What's your name, then?"

Her weeping seems to have passed, and she answers before telling the guard to turn her right-side-up again.

The guard only unslings her from his shoulder and sets her on her feet when the priests nod in assent. This guy does what he's told.

The orphan keeps walking into the pyramid, a little dizzy from the inversion and head rush. "My name's Hunzuu. My mama called me Zuu. She's dead, though."

"Yes, I rather figured. Now, the attendants are going to clean you up, and the acolytes are going to teach you some prayers to Aruru. When the time comes, just step in the tub we give you and say the prayers, and before you know it you'll be bigger and stronger!"

The Rain Priest leans in toward the Blood Priest. "Don't you think we should tell her the whole truth right away? This one is prone to tantrums, it looks like. Better for her to react before the ritual than after."

In theory. The promise is something scorpion-ish that can destroy armies, which fits in with the scorpion-men of local legend.

>>28422320
You're not any of the priests, technically, but if you want some of them to betray the others, now would be a good time.

>>28422282
The Blood Priest rolls his eyes and awaits Hunzuu's reaction to the revelation. "Fine. The tub will be filled with blood, Hunzuu. If you want to change living things, it usually takes a lot of blood. And when the ritual's done, you'll probably have some significant scorpion features. Like claws and a stinger. You know, for hurting bad men.

She acts like she's heard stranger things. "Blood? Like blood soup? I had that once. There's never enough soup for everybody, though. Maybe I'll get a whole big tub of soup and bring it back to the poorhouse!"

The preparations continue on schedule. When an adventurer comes to the priests' quarters to announce that the tub of blood is ready, it's just past sunset. The ritual can begin. If the priests want to do anything in secret before creating their new champion, now is the time.
>>
>>28422475

As long as this poorhouse is in our city, she is going to be the loyalest.
Let's maybe put a few of her childhood friends in the military, so she has quite a lot of cause to protect soldiers during our campaigns.

The prisoners are probably dead, unless those tasked with bleeding them happened to be extremely careful and merciful, because the large basin in the heart of the pyramid's ritual camber has more than enough blood in it to bathe an adult, let alone a child. Flickering torchlight reflects on its dull surface.

As he recites the story of how Tiamat created the first scorpion-people, the Blood Priest decides to add some inventive additions to the admixture of blood. He adds a small crucible of fluid he squeezed out of a desert scorpion from his workshop, usually kept around for making antidotes He also adds a small cup of his own blood. The other four Great Priests and the three dozen acolytes chant prayers and contribute what magic they know to the cause.

Finally, Hunzuu is brought out, wrapped loosely in silk, holding the ancient relic. She had a very simple recitation to memorize, but she messes it up a little. She keeps calling the goddess Aruru "Abubu." That probably won't affect the outcome, everyone hopes.

Yeah, we aaaaall know how this is going to end, don't we, boys and girls? I mean a religion that reveres scorpions, uses baths of blood for their rituals (performed at night, of course) and is run by a cabal of the high priests of the city, who seem to be highly ambitious and ready to kill to seize and maintain power? That TOTALLY sounds like a nice group of people who are going to love and care for the people and treat their monstrous chimera of an innocent girl and a venomous, desert predator with love and respect and not use her as a tool to carve a trail of death and destruction, strewn with the corpses of their enemies, military, political and philosophical, in her wake!

And honestly, if you were an orphan, offered a chance at a better life for you and your friends, in a pseudo-Mesopotamian fantasy society, ruled over by a powerless autocrat and the power-hungry priesthood and nobility, you'd volunteer lickity-split too!

Hunzuu steps into the basin of blood, hesitant but without the need for force. Up to her knees in it, she turns to the priests. "It's cold. When do I - Ow!"

She slips and falls into the deeper center of the basin, immersing herself. The ancient salt crystal breaks open, and the dull red light from the scorpion inside it turns into a blazing column of light that fills the room. The preserved scorpion disintegrates, the blood boils, and everyone is blinded and terrified for a moment.

When the light fades, the chamber is in total darkness. The torches have gone out. There is only the sound of pointed legs skittering on wet stone as you find your balance.

You are Hunzuu, and you are an abomination that the world has not seen since before the great flood.

I'd like to kill one of the priests, by accident. No preference to which one.
>>
>>28422955
We should probably attempt to find some light, if we can't see in the dark.
>>
>>28422943
Depends if the goddess is feeling merciful and/or amused. We could end up with that most badass of all monsters: One that can shift between forms. A human with the aura of the most deadly predator of the sands, reflexes like the scorpion's flashing tail and venom ever ready to fly from her fingertips; a tiny, mottled scorpion with enough venom on its stinger to slay a dragon; and the true form of the monster - a mighty chimera with the torso and arms of a young girl and the lower body, claws and tail of a dead beast.

Fire, darkness, venom, blood, the razor shards of glass that comes when sand is made molten and cools... There's all kinds of things a divinely-warped demigod-being could wield... In time. At first? Zuu is still a young girl. But she will learn. Oh yes... She will learn.

There was a lot of violences, in fact.

It doesn't really matter what we do, since everything will just go according to plan anyways. No suspense, no action, no drama, all the characters are walking stereotypes, this quest way too fucking dry.
>>
>>28423107

This was chargen, we have yet to actually hit the meat of the quest. Hopefully, that should occur now.

Though you certainly feel like you're higher up than before, you're still a little girl, and you don't feel right. Maybe you should have taken the funny old men more seriously when they said what was going to happen to you. You panic a little and scramble sideways across the chamber until you slam into a wall. You scream.

An acolyte re-ignites one of the torches, and you finally see yourself. You scream louder. From the waist down you are a completely unrecognizable chitinous horror, with eight legs, two claws, and a segmented tail. Your lower half is the size of a big draft horse.

Whoa, and you're stronger than you were before. You totally crushed someone against that wall without even feeling him there. But it was just an acolyte, so nobody seems to mind. Everyone falls to their knees and praises all the gods.

"I'm sorry..." you say, "I tripped..."

They cheer for you. Some of the acolytes call you beautiful. The Sand Priest laughs joyously. The Blood Priest just smiles at you proudly. You don't understand. "I only wanted to hurt bad men..."

The silks you were wearing over your top half are still fine. You shamble away from the dead acolyte and bend down to brush the gore off your side.

The Blood Priest takes charge of the situation. You see now. He's the boss of them, even if the others don't want to admit it. "Of course you did! Don't worry, that was just an accident. When you're ready we can get to killing the real bad men, starting with those upstarts at the Footmen's School. There's some food prepared for you in the banquet hall upstairs. Don't worry about breaking anything up there. Just get used to your own strength. I've also hired the armsmaster of the Adventurers' School to give you lessons in war and combat. He's in the armory two levels up. But he'll be here until I give him leave to return home. Why, if you feel prepared, you can even go up on the terrace and start striking terror! They will know you, my dear. They will fear you." You're a little sick of having this guy tell you what to do. On the other hand, going upstairs for some real food does sound good.
>>
>>28423299
>I at least want grim-moe
Nope! Screw you, we are going full on dissonance here! Dark world, light character. We're going to be an adorable, awkward monster girl, kick a bit of ass and still somehow cling onto our innocence. No killing anyone who's not a 'bad person' (at least, not to our knowledge anyway).

Also, does Zuu still have hands and arms, with claws lower down? Or has she forever lost the use of opposable thumbs?

Very true. A fragile girl that eventually gets strong and learns how to control the beast.
We're like a werewolf except arachnids are more terrifying.

I figure we'll accidentally crush people basically whenever we fall down the stairs.

I don't know about you people, but I fall down the stairs a lot.
>>
>>28423417
We have a 1000lb body to maintain (an adult draft horse being around 2000lb), which mean we probably need the equivalent of 12500 kcal each day, 5 time what a human of 200lb should eat.
>>
>>28423450
This. The idea is neat, but the execution thus far has been pretty dull.
>>
>>28423461
Right now
>>28423366
is defending a rather empty character.
From the initial description, we get a girl that wants to protect her friends. Wants to help people, kill the bad guys. Strong motivations since they're her family.
All we got so far is a "oops i tripped" instead of a horrified "What have I done" which is what a real human being in that situation would probably do.

Then her dealing with her being a monster.
And maybe if the "kill her friends for blood" had been taken, personal development on how to deal with that, was protecting everyone really worth the lies of the priests? Were they really their goals to protect the people or was there an agenda? You know. Some kind of clue other than "I'm an abomination, now I'm acting cute even when I should be freaked out"
>>
>>28423489
>200lb human
We were like, a starving orphan. Probably a fourth of that.

In short, we're eating like 20 times what we normally do, and it is amazing.

>>28423433
I always prefer the opposite. Plus, remember that botched invocation? Yeah, that doesn't seem like the invocation that would create a bloodthirsty monster, to me.

Why not innocent and inherently good... But prone to bloodlust in battle and lapsing sometimes into the cold, ruthless mind of a predator? Wouldn't it make for a delightfully jarring shock, as Zuu fights to maintain her sense of self, against the monster she has become? And whether she wins or loses that fight, well... That's up to the Quest Master and the choices the players make, isn't it?

>>28423506

And don't forget we're young, so we're still growing, so we're going to eat a king's banquet of food in a sitting and it will only get worse/more awesome. We're not even picky as long as we're being fed food.

>>
>>28423354
You still have human arms in addition to your new claws. That's good.

Without another word, you make your way past the priests and acolytes and up the sloping hallway toward the old banquet room. This used to be where the priests received the king when he came to pray, but he doesn't do much of that lately.

Nobody was completely sure how you'd turn out, so they laid out everything they guessed might satiate you. There's human food, like plain flatbreads and porridges, trays of delicacies, and some cakes and raw honey, as well as a sack full of rats, some honeyed locusts, and a whole corner of the room full of sides of raw meat. There's also clothes for a highborn human girl, some armor for the top half of a human, and enormous bolts of cloth for wrapping up a monster of any shape.

The temple cook, a young man who walks with a hunch, waves to you as he drags in another skinned goat. He looks like he's seen some weird shit to rival you.
>>
wait wait wait
>go up on the terrace and start striking terror
>they will fear you
Could you repeat that priest man? I thought the OTHER guys would fear us, our people were supposed to like us!
>>
I feel a great disturbance in the force.

As if someone likes something someone else doesn't like...and they respond by shitposting in an argumentative nature.

Whilst I am aware of Freyala, magical realm that it is, I feel this quest wouldn't be served by such thematically similar ventures at this stage. Lets keep adorable until we can't.
>>
>>28423523
Everyone else is thinking on what action should she take instead of the way she acts.

The girl has no personality so far than being a vessel for a moe monstergirl so far instead of sinking in the fact that this whole thing is very fishy.

After being turned into a monster, it's pretty likely not only that you'd freak out, but that you'd full on lash-out on people that didn't tell you this- you were given no information other than a bath of blood a girl was oblivious of. Which is odd.
Then you just carry on killing someone accidentally, and say "oops. oh hey food time"

>>28423636
I'm going to second this, here. As much as Zuu is a vessel for the players, she has her own personality. This level of body horror is some serious sanity loss!

The issue comes when they are over-used. You go straight for the sweets. They're amazing. Better than anything you've had before in your life as a wretched filth-covered nobody. And your appetite is bigger than you thought it was.

The cook sets down the raw meat and starts politely making his way out of the hall. "Will that be all, my lady?"

What's that supposed to mean. "Is that all you're gonna say?" You ask.

He backs away a little. "What do you mean?"

"You're not freaking out? You're not screaming or crying or running away?"

He chooses his answer carefully. "Why would I? You are our honored guest."

You get a little worked up inside. "Because I'm a monster! I'm a big creepy bug, and I just killed a guy for no reason!" As you say it, it starts to feel more real. Oh, gods, why? Maybe the one who really wants to freak out and run away is you.

>>28423899
Don't respond to him. It's bait.

Also: Yeah, you've used your allowance of ellipses for the month. Try and see if you can go until December without using any more. You'll find it helps you be taken seriously.

>>28423913
>>28423927
...You know what? Yeah, I'm done arguing pointless bullshit. Let's keep playing.

And I don't know... (Appropriate use of ellipses, shut up), much as I don't want to see this go full grimdark, I think 'Moe Monstergirl Quest' might be a BIT strong for the setting we've been presented with. I like moe, but it has its place and this isn't exactly it. Let's not try and swing to extremes here, okay?
>>
>>28423962
That is bigger than I thought.
And noble clothes, yeah. let's go with that.

>>28423976
>The metaphorical other shoe drops... now.
>>
>>28423976
There it goes.

Though I'm not sure where we would run to even if we ran, so it would result as running in circles if anything.

Anyway, I suggest considering getting food to our friends, but after we calm down.
>>
>>28423976

wait for his response, freak out, but dive into food until we are sated. Maybe all this good food will also make us feel better
>>
>>28423929
Zuu isnt a raw meat eater... yet.

In the long run its probably most efficient but well... baby steps. She was a perfectly normal, if slightly dense, human girl just minutes ago.

Suddenly having to consume tonnes of meat just to live? That's a monsterGIRL problem.

All of that. I'm into that. No Moe.

I love you.
>>28423976
Make the goat eating next. It'll taste better than the cakes.

>>28423976
Running away is a hard to write plot-end.
Let's talk to the young man, get his name, number and maybe we'll ask him what the choicest cuts of meat are. Maybe hold his hand and not eat him?

For now we keep eating to try to avert mental breakdown, scream at the priests later when they show up.
>>28424060
I like this too. We wreck everything and maybe kill him by accident, then we can start full on sobbing.

>>28424000

>>
>>28423976
Whatever we do, even if we rampage, don't run over that chef.

he made us dinner.
>>
>>28424047
>>28423976

Keep eating until the idea of that you're no longer a human sets in your head. They didn't tell you that.
You just killed a man. Your friends will probably hate you out of fear.
Just let that idea rest there for a bit while engulfing food.

Yes, the proper characterization should settle in at any moment.
>>

Eh? It's been months since anybody took issue with it though. I think you've mistaken me for someone else.

>>28423976
Aaaand THERE it goes! Now lets's see how things go.

By the way, OP, you might want to consider adding a greentext indicator, or something, when you expect the players to act, otherwise it could get confusing.
>>
>>28423976
This
>>28424076

Greentext at the end of the post is something that you'll usually only see on the QM's posts. makes them distinctive, even without pictures.
>>
>>28424076
actually a good point:

a symbol of some sort to denote player input time might be nice. Alternatively, a specific message for when a post is NOT accepting player inputs, like (continued) or something.
>>28423976
>>
>>28424039
Well maybe we shouldn't have made such a fuss over the Quest Runners previous entry lacking properly expressed freaking out...
Of course the characterization will be eratic if he flipflops every time someone whines about it.
>>
>>28424069
Seriously, what the fuck is AoPH?

And speaking as someone's who has both seen and suffered a breakdown/panic attack in action, eating should be the LAST thing on Zuu's mind! When the world just over-whelms you in one titanic wave, like that, you don't want to do anything else but panic. Some people retreat into a corner, or somewhere familiar; some people flail and thrash and shout; some people become extremely nervous and high-strung, but nearly all the time, thoughts of mundane things, like eating, or continuing whatever you were doing at the time, pretty much vanish from your mind. Your brain just locks itself into a spiral of panic and fear, until either someone helps guide you out of it, or you hit rock bottom and level out on your own.
>>
>>28424099
Hey, I'm highly interested in this quest, which is why I'm trying to give it some constructive criticism, because I want it to go from "interesting" to "amazing".

And any quest runner that makes something that generates this many responses, well, you get the idea.

Attack on Pokemon Hunter

It's about a post-apocalypse world in which all pokedex entries are true, humans live safely in domes that are defended with technology and people known as "rangers."
Rangers are the only ones that venture outside of the dome, surviving by using freaky science in which they graft monster parts into their bodies to use their abilities and metamorphosing biology.

The MC is an adorable little seel girl that's innocent despite the fact that her position demands her to become a monster to fight monsters and face the deaths of her friends, people that she's trained with.
It's pretty good and run by an established QM, though you'll want to avoid some of the pokesperging in the threads.

A valid point, but there's a world of difference between anxiety eating and the realisation and admission that something utterly catastrophic as occurred in your life and nothing is ever going to be the same again, EVER. The very idea of a breakdown, is that it occurs when normal coping mechanisms, such as stress-eating, have failed and the dam has broken.

That's a damn good representation of most panic attacks I've seen.

The cook wipes the blood off his hands. "Sorry to hear that. But you're no worse than them. The things that happen in here... but I shouldn't talk."

You stuff your face. You don't remember your way back to the exit, and as bad as the past few minutes have been, part of you realizes that rampaging through the place would probably make you do even more things you'd be ashamed of later. "I was dumb. I shouldn't have said yes." You move on to a pile of warm bread. You hardly even taste it, though. You're just stress-eating. "Who are you anyway?"

"I'm Nergal-Edir, the cook. Nobody, really. I said yes when they asked me to come in here, too. But there are worse places to work, I guess. Certainly helps put my own troubles in perspective."

You're not sure if he's talking about you there. Your claws get jumpy and push a table over before you realize what they're doing. Your legs are basically doing what you tell them, even if you have to awkwardly move all your left legs and then all your right legs, but the claws will take some getting used to.

Nergal-Edir sighs and rights the table. "So what did they promise you? A hot meal and a roof overhead? I guess technically you got it."

"They said I'd help protect my friends. They wouldn't like me like this, though..." That thought makes you feel the need to stuff more food in your gullet.

>>28424199
Doesn't sound bad. But I'm not a fan of Attack on Titan, or Poke'mon, so I think I'll give it a pass. Besides, it's not like I HAVE to see moe monstergirls, to be happy. I just like to see things done well. Sometimes that means an overload of saccharine-sweet moeblob adorableness; other times it means the bleak reality that is void of meaning; or perhaps it's all about the hero's journey to maturity; or the burning, manly spirit of determination and brotherhood that will cut though fate, etc. etc.; or maybe it's a combination of any number of things.

Not sure if this quest is it though. I applaud OP's efforts and willingness to run it, but I don't think this is entirely for me.

Nergal-Edir continues cleaning up the stuff you overturned. "Afraid I can't help you there. Though maybe they were right. You look like you could protect things."

Maybe he's right! You wipe your mouth with a tablecloth and turn back to the ritual chamber. The Great Priests are all gone; there are just acolytes cleaning the floors and walls, plus a couple dragging in a new basin to replace the one you broke.

"Hey!" You call out to them. "Your bosses said I could help my friends if I let you change me, so that's what I'm gonna do. Take the rest of that food to the poorhouse out by the big well."

They bow to you and make sounds of agreement, "Of course, your excellency!" But then they go right back to what they were doing before.

You keep watching them for a while. There is an awkward silence.

Part of you wants to loom over one of them and tell them to do it now, maybe hint that he'll end up as the next mess on the wall if he doesn't, but that would just make things worse. You do say something, though. You have to. "So who's gonna do that? How about you? Go do that."

The acolyte begins to protest. "But the masters said that we have to get this place ready in case-"

The other acolytes immediately cut him off. "How about you, Ilgi? Go do that." They repeat your order back to him, and he shuffles away, dejected.

Singling out one of them works, even without violence! Good to know. You try it again on an acolyte who's scrubbing the floor. "You. Get me some better clothes."

After a minute or two he comes back with some of the fine clothes and extra bolts of cloth. You make him show you to your room, which has little in the way of amenities because they didn't want to offend you with stuff that's too small for you.

"Help get this on me," you ask. "Which way is this supposed to go?" "This doesn't cover enough; wrap some more stuff around here." "My legs are cold." "No, not those!" "Please get out..."

You've clumsily wrapped yourself in a small pile of mismatched robes, gowns, and bolts of cloth. However you try to cover yourself up, you still look down and see a monster. You throw a gown over your head so you don't have to see it any more.

Then you roll onto one side, on top of the four or five sleeping mats they laid together for you, and have yourself a little cry.

>four sleeping mats
>have a little cry
I almost missed that part.

Maybe we should make an apology letter to the family of acolyte#497
>>
>>28424857
>there aren't any
RWBfag was shitting up the thread for a while. We could do without him, too.
>>
>>28424861
He was talking about laying our egg in the king.

Or maybe he want talking about killing him.

Not sure. Possibly both.
>>
>>28424830
I disagree with your long term goals, and want to instead take it on a more robin hood type route.
>>
>>28424889
>He was talking about laying our egg in the king.
No, I said to kill and usurp the king. And the pregnancy thing was a joke
>>28424894
Its hard to be Robin Hood when youre conspicuous as fuck and worshiped like a god. Instead of trying to be a mopey little cunt, lets try using the role that has been forced on us to enact some good.
>>
>>28424876

He left.
>>
>>28424926
well, a much more unstoppable robin hood.
Though, realistically, I intend to just run off one day after they send us into a battle.
>>
>>28424926
The kind deity of giant fucking scorpions?
>>
>>28424894
This>>28424926

Robin hood worked because he was a man and capable of being inconspicuous. Being robin hood here isn't fitting.

We need to establish ourself as a goddess in the long run and help people that way.
>>28424942
Our people would die. We're protecting them from their enemies,
>>
>>28424954
I'm not too into the whole being worshiped thing. We don't even know the name of the scorpion god.

Maybe if we get a religious teaching we'll go for it though.
>>
>>28424970
Maybe the chef guy knows a bit about the religion.

Don't be afraid to talk to people just because we get worshipped by them.
>>
>>28424954
>We need to establish ourself as a goddess in the long run and help people that way.
This is a good long term plan, but lets milk these people for all their worth first. Lets start with getting training in the art of war and religious study. Then, we get glory in battle and slowly establish a cult around ourselves. Once our name is known and loved by the people, we strike at the system itself.

Everybody making long term plans, lets keep in mind we don't fully know what we can do yet, and there was mention of other kingdoms using similar if not more powerful magics.

Let's at least get "walking" down before we start making plans about egg-laying and regicide.
>>
>>28425017
good point, let's all slow down a bit and deal with things like "why aren't my claws doing what I say"
>>
>>28424970
Oh, we'll get a religious teaching, I'm sure. It's the simplest method to control the poor & gullible.

The right words, like "honor", "duty" & "will of the gods" and we'll spend the rest of our life chasing after phantom enemies and never even think to question the bastards that did this too us
>>

Thinking of everything down there as "yours"

Yeah, not too sure how much political scheming our poor Scorpion Girl is going to be doing at this point...

Maybe when she's grown a bit and learned of the Priesthoods' Corruption, but right now she's just a scared little girl hoping she's actually going to protect people.
>>
>>28425071
I agree. A time skip or two might be necessary.
>>
>>28425061
I am unsure what you mean
>>
>>28425027
"Why aren't those claws doing what I want,"
>>
>>28425071
yeah, let's just be confused and scared for now. Wait for age and wisdom to settle in.
>>
>>28425115
I think the mean that we haven't accepted that everything below the waist is a part of ourselves.

That stuff is a monster. We're sitting on a monster. We're not the monster. We can't be the monster.

We wish it'd just all go away
>>
>>28425147
ah, okay, gotcha.
I am the slow.
>>
>>28425147
That make me wonder, how the hell can she lay down comfortably with that body? Laying down on the side would be...awkward.
>>
>>28425178
I'm sure we can sit up and down, with the scorpion parts being behind us.
>>
>>28425178
>on top of four or five sleeping mats
I assume we're just using enough bedding to fit our shape. Blankets piled up where we don't meet the ground.

i've done that before to maintain nearly impossible positions for medical purposes.
>>
>>28425178
I assumed we'd actually rest standing or settling down on our armored abdomen, Laying down to the side doesn't sound right.
IAnd I'm getting sick of my own nitpicking.

You cry long and hard. It doesn't feel good, but it feels needed. When you're done, you're not sure how late it is, but you've caught your breath and you feel stronger. The city is dark and quiet outside the arrowslit serving as a window. You take off the clothes you covered yourself in out of panic and replace them with a single long red dress. You call for an acolyte. An older female servant shows up instead, obviously holding back mortal terror at the first sight of you.

"I'm not gonna hurt you. Tell the priests I'm sorry for that guy I squished today. If he has a family, make sure they get something nice."

She bows deeply and answers with audible relief in her voice. before leaving "Yes, at once!"

You feel a little more in control. You have power. And you can use it, if not for good, then for somewhat less than completely unspeakable evil.

You raise your left claw just a bit. It's shaky, but you can feel it, and it's doing what you say. You close the massive claw and hold it in your tiny hand. You just stand there, awkwardly holding hands with yourself for a few moments, then settle down and try to sleep.

> I'm gonna break here for the night. Feel free to keep discussing plans; that's great. Might be back later to talk OOC, but the next real story thread will be on Saturday, probably around noon EST.

> I'm also going to make a pastebin with actual character stats for when we need to roll dice. It'll be pretty simple, and scaled from the point of view of superhuman monsters and whole military units, so don't freak out if they look low.
>>
>>28425205
Thanks OP. I like this premise a lot, and not just because I like monster girls.

These priests are up to something.
>>
>>28425205
Okeydokey, thanks for running OP. Sorry about all the ARGUMENT, I didn't mean it, I just get flustered

Havin' fun!
>>
>>28425215
>up to something
Of course they're up to something. Fuckers have the king in their pocket and are trying to get the only military force in this nation other than themselves, the warriors, stamped out by magibominations.

And we may or may not do it. Depending on trickery. I don't think we'd straight up stomp our own folks without some.
>>
>>28425191
I don't know, I imagine going back up after laying down upside down must be ackward at best.

>>28425196
That make more sense, we would need to sleep like a horse.
>>
>>28425276
I don't see how. It's like bending over.

Try to touch your toes. Scorpion girl can do the same thing and I'm basically saying that's her sleeping position. She sleeps on her stomach.
>>
>>28425215
I'm not gonna lie, right now the only thing keeping me in this thread is my monstergirl fetish, and ops transformation fetish is kinda not my thing, either.
>>
>>28425288
>sleeps slumped over in a position similar to touch-your-toes
Poor girl. Poor, adorable girl.
>>
>>28425205
Ok, this is just fucking sadorable.

Those priest fuckholes are going to backstab us the moment it looks like they can do it without us finding out it was them, won't they?
>>
>>28424948
>The kind deity of giant fucking scorpions?
Yes.
With emphasis on the fucking
>>
>>28425297
Yeah, I might have used a bad metaphor. She sleeps on her stomach.
>>
>>28425293
well, I'm here for monstergirl logistics and scheming politics. And to extract some cute if possible.

This discussion on how she lays down, for instance, is goot in two of my three categories.
>>
>>28425300
I fully expect it. Especially since we had food shipped to our friends.
>>
>>28425309
scorpion or human?
>>
>>28425309
Well, I guess that depend how flexible she is and how her scorpion parts are positionned.

I guess it should be relatively comfortable if she is close to the ground.
>>
>>28425366
if she's stuck up top of the scorpion, it might just be better to put a pillow on her (scorpion) back and lean backwards with her human half
>>
>>28425345
Both.
>>
>>28425378
>>28425366
You'd think there'd be no loss of flexibility.
>>
>>28425432
well, the spine isn't SUPER flexible. Even leaning directly back on the scorpion or lying down forwards would probably be uncomfortable.

I expect a full explanation and schematic for how she sleeps or she won't be well-rested the next morning. I'm not even sure whether I'm kidding.
>>
I assumed she just laid on her side like the centaur in that one harem manga.
>>
>>28425513
And I expect a thread with more than 10 fucking updates next time.
>>
>>28425528
centaurs are much less wide than scorpions
>>28425513
I am almost certain we aren't going to sleep well.

That one's on me. I know a lot of quest threads last 9 hours or so, but all I had tonight was about 6. Also trying to strike a balance between answering promptly and waiting for more replies. Hope it was enough.

Normal scorpions don't weigth nearly ton through.

Now I need to find some more worksafe art to use.
>>
>>28425768
The only problem with that sleeping position is that it make her look like a clumsy girl who just fell down on her face.

I am sure people here are into that.
>>
>>28425768
gluck m8

>>28425797
I imagined the exact same thing. that's exactly why I said it looks adorable.
>>
I think our level of clumsiness will be mid-high

I mean, people are clumsy after growth spurts. This is one hell of a growth spurt.
>>
>>28425845

Moe-nster girl quest.
>>
>>28425894
>Moe
Fuck no. /tg/ pulls that shit enough as it is.
>>
>>28425894
I don't know about moe, but I do know I'm rooting for at least some clumsiness.

I mean, it got a guy killed already.
>>
>>28425457
I would imagine this would have been dealt with at the Chimera design stage.

In my mind, she can lower most of her human torso into her Scorpion body for sleeping purposes.
>>
>>28426053
I somehow prefer the flopping about awkwardly on pillows method, but to each their own.
>>
>>28426072
Well, shes still new to this. She may not know about it yet
>>
I wonder when she'll notice the giant 9 inch long stinger behind her
>>
>>28426232
sh sh sh sh

Don't ruin the surprise

She hasn't looked backwards yet. Heck, she's hardly looked down.
