You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

Yesterday was not a fun time.

Regardless however, it’s a new day. As you shower, you try and put all of yesterday behind you. That’s easy enough, You’ve always had good emotional fortitude. Yesterday wasn’t a good example of that, but it was a hell of a thing. It’s totally not gonna happen again, you reassure yourself.

You’re now still showering, no conditioner, no good shampoos, you really need to go shopping with Kitten one of these days. Turn her from a nerd to a bird.

Yeah. That sounds a lot better in your head.

With that, you finish off your shower in Kitten’s bathroom and get dressed. As you step out, you see Kitten, slumbering sweetly in her bed. Getting out of her hug was trouble but there was no way you’d wake her up like that.

You gently pet her on the head, smiling.

You quickly eat up some of her breakfast, then as you pack your things, Nancy knocks on the door.

“President, ready for school?”

You open up the door, yawning. Deep sleep that was. “Morning girls.”

Nancy smiles. “Morning, President!” She drops her smile however when she examines you more closely. “You okay? You seem a bit down.”

You wave her off as you walk out. “Oh, it’s fine. Yesterday was kind of taxing on me.”

Lisa nods. “From what I hear the auditions really weren’t all that great.” She snaps her finger. “Oh, a couple of things, the big Soviet tank arrived this morning.”

> TANK UNLOCKED: SU-122 (COMPETITION SPEC.)

You nod. Lisa continues with, “And those Theatre Tech kids yesterday, called me up said they pooled as many resources together, sold off a lot of their unused kits and such. Managed to raise about 3,000 Dollars. They’re donating it all to us.”

> + 3,000 Dollars

You smile, patting Lisa on the shoulder. “Thanks, Lisa. Really needed some good news today.”

Lisa quirks her brow. “Why’s that, Boss? Something happen yesterday?”

You shrug. “I told Kitten about… well you know?” Your staff look surprised. “Don’t worry, she won’t tell a soul, she doesn’t even have anyone to tell anyway, bless her heart.”

“Well,” Nancy says, “I suppose that must’ve been emotionally trying for you.”

“It was. Wasn’t expecting it to be, but hell, you’re surprised by a lot of things in life.”

Nancy nods, looking a bit grim. “I can relate.”

Lisa says, “Well let’s stop the sadness rollercoaster here and look forward to today. We got practice you know, and we really gotta make it count. Saturday’s the day we take on Heinlein isn’t it?”

You nod. “Sure is. Gonna admit, bit nervous about that, but I’m sure our crew isn’t going to let us down.”

Ramirez says, “Didn’t you let them paint the tanks?”

Oh right, you forgot about that.

Whatever, how bad can it be? Maybe they decided on some sensible camouflage or regular steel gray. If there’s anything more uncreative on this world, it’s either Stephenie Meyer or a High School student.

You arrive at the front entrance of the campus. With about half an hour before class, what do you decide to do?

OH SHIT YOUR MATH HOMEWORK.

“Uh… Lisa, you don’t mind helping me with my math homework do you?”

Lisa rolls her eyes, smirking. “Show me.”

You quickly open your backpack and open your math folder to reveal all your backed up math homework. Only a few worksheets, nothing too special, but then again you were never good at math anyway. Math’s as foreign a concept to you like North Korean’s to egalitarianism.

Your staff find a bench in the courtyard to quickly get everything done. Lisa quickly directs you to write things, no time for tutoring, it’s time for DIRECT ACTION.

Soon, you’re almost finished with the last sheet when Pinkerton and O’Bannon approach you.

“Ah, Lisa, we were just-“

Lisa holds up her hand, stopping them. “Don’t tell me, you were just looking for me.”

They hold up their notebooks labeled MATH. O’Bannon says, “Aye.”

Lisa sighs, her eyes for a minute showing a bit of weariness. “Fine, take a seat next to me, I’ll-“

“Lisa!” Octavia comes over, math notebook and textbook in hand. “I had a couple of questions here and I hear you’re good at math.”

“I am- but I’m kinda-“

“Hey, Lisa.” Tara and Ashleigh come over, math notebooks ready. “Would you mind helping us?”

“Well, you see girls-“

You check the time. Is this going to end?

Nancy nods, smiling. “I’ll gladly answer any questions you have!”

Tara and Ashleigh immediately come over. “We’re having some issues with factoring.” God, who the fuck doesn’t.

Octavia pats Ramirez on the shoulder. “Alright, Ramirez. Mind helping me?” Ramirez nods.

Phew. Got that solved. Lisa smiles gratefully at you. Pinkerton and O’Bannon however look at you. “Hey, Snitchy McGee,” says O’Bannon. “We were actually just looking for you too.”

Pinkerton shrugs. “Besides, if we really wanted to beat the crap out of you, we could and we’d get away with it.”

You roll your eyes. “Yeah, fuck you, what did you need to talk to me about?”

Pinkerton snaps her fingers. “Fredendall wanted to talk to you after your Tankery practice.”

You raise an eyebrow, skeptical. “What about?”

“She didn’t say. Said it was going to be something deathly hilarious though.” Pinkerton and O’Bannon laugh a bit evilly, unnerving everyone around them. After they calm down, Pinkerton says, “We’re not gonna kill you if that’s what you think.”

“Gee,” you say dryly. “Thanks for reassuring me.”

“Right. I gotta to head to class, you guys got this?” Your staff nods at you. “As for you two,” you say to Pinkerton and O’Bannon. “Try not to open extort people.”

Pinkerton scoffs. “Whatever, tattletale.”

As you walk off, you casually give them the finger.

Time for math. You hand in your homework, freshly completed this morning courtesy of Miss Lisa Cowell, Jewish Wonder. The professor accepts it, and gets to his lesson.

A lesson through which you sleep.

English isn’t much better. Since the Professor has given people time to work on their personal narratives, something you’re done with, you decide to simply goof off by browsing the internet on your laptop like every other student who has one.

However, you’ve got some time to figure out something for Tankery.

What do you do on the internet?

You decide to search HMA Tankery on Google. You quickly find their Tankery Program blog, and see a couple of things that unnerve you.

First, they have sports sponsors, a good number of them. Lot of products you’ve never heard of, and most of them in Russian, but this at least means their rich.

Second, they have a LOT of fucking tanks.

> INTEL UNLOCKED
> ROBERT A. HEINLEIN MILITARY ACADEMY ROSTER

> M4 105mm SHERMAN (COMP. SPEC.) x 5
> M5A1 STUART (COMP. SPEC.) x 10
> M3 LEE (COMP. SPEC.) x 10

Well. That’s not reassuring at all.

With that, you finish off English. Chemistry goes by like a blur as well. It’s a good thing your Professor doesn’t assign homework in Chemistry, just a bunch of take home exams and projects.

Which is essentially homework, but they at least have set due dates that are pretty far off anyway.

“Hey, girls, I don’t think our match with Heinlein is going to go so well.”

Your staff look at you skeptically as you wait in line for lunch. Nancy asks, “What makes you say that?”

You pull out your smartphone and quickly pull up the relevant page. You show it to them, and their eyes instantly bug out.

“Holy shit on a sandwich!” says Lisa. “Are they really going to face us with that many tanks!?”

You shrug. “Wouldn’t be sporting, but I suppose it’d be the smart thing too.”

Nancy pouts. “That’s not fair! We don’t hold a candle to those tanks, not like those…” she looks down at the smartphone. “Those E2 Jumbos! Almost as much frontal armor as the Tiger I, with a 76mm gun probably too!” All of you look at Nancy, surprised. Nancy realizes what she says, then giggles nervously, blushing. “I- I- uh… might’ve studied somewhat on tanks last night.”

Ramirez says, “Clearly.”

Lisa looks over at you. “We can’t beat that line up. Can we?”

I'm hardly gonna claim seeing them as more sibling-like is inaccurate or wrong, but...you don't think the shippers see them as 'lovers' as it is either, do you? It's more like thinking of it as good friends starting to date, hardly uncommon.

> Swimming Practice

You get switched out into your school swimsuit and head for the pool. Again, the Coach has enlisted you to aide the freshmen and other students who have trouble swimming.

You carefully hold Hanna in place as she lies flat on her back. Her eyes nervously shifting around.

“Alright, Hanna. Floating on your back is easy, just relax, let the waves take you. Use your arms to sort of guide you and keep you float. But don’t struggle, okay?”

Hanna says, “Alright.”

You let go of her, and she instantly sinks to the bottom.

You pull her out of the water of the three feet deep end of the pool. After Hanna’s done coughing up water, she looks at you then blushes furiously.

“You’re not good at this, are you?”

She says, “What tipped you off?”

You shrug. “Just a hunch. Though, you gotta admit, even though our Academyship is the size of an island, you still gotta learn to swim in case it sinks.”

Hanna nods. “Alright, alright, I get you.” She wipes her eyes. “What should we learn first?”

You demonstrate the simple arm movements of the Front Crawl.

“Alright, Hanna, this is what’s called the Front Crawl. All you have to do is kick your legs, rotate your torso with your arms. Use your arms to help steer and propel you.”

Hanna nods, ready to kick off the from the edge. “Alright.”

You also say, “When your face comes out of the water, take a breath, then it goes back in breath out. Do not try and hold your breath. Understand.”

Hanna nods violently. “Okay. I think I got this.”

You nod, putting your hands on your hips. “Alright, go when you’re ready.”

Hanna looks out into the water. With every fiber of her being, she kicks off into the water then into a Front Crawl. It’s a very wild and uncoordinated Front Crawl, but hey, at least she’s floating and moving forward.

She then quickly sinks again.

You sigh. This girl is going to die.

With that done, you and Hanna hit the showers.

“Sorry I’m so bad at swimming, Gertrude,” says Hanna.

You shake your head. “Haven’t had the time to yet, maybe this weekend or something after the Tankery match.”

Hanna nods, smiling. “Okay! Give me a call if you need anything.”

With that, you head on over to History Class. That presentation is hanging over your head, but like any good student, you have a solution: Wait until the last possible minute and let the panic of the deadline spur you into creating academic gold.

Theatre class goes by relatively uneventfully too. The professor has the class watch a movie on Greek theatre history, but that’s about it.

The Churchill Mark I has painted a very visible white, with the turret sides bearing very angry eyes. The gun has been painted lighter brown with dark brown swirls.

The Polish’s M5A1 Stuart’s body has been painted a very loud red with the turret being painted white. Attached to the back is a small pole adorning the Polish flag.

The Aviator’s KV-1S has been painted yellow, with the engine block painted black. A tank version of their GeeBee to be precise about it.

The Sewing Club surprisingly painted their SOMUA S35 an Olive Drab with a very simple Lafayette Girls Academy sigil on the side of the turrets. That’s actually interesting.

And of course the Rifle team haven’t painted their tank, the SU-122 because it hasn’t arrived.

Janek laughs. “We worked hard on that painting stuff. What do you think?”

You decide that heading to the sportsfield is the better option. On your way there, you actually meet Kitten.

“Kitten, what’s up?”

Kitten shrugs. “Oh, not much.”

You say, “Feeling better?”

She nods. “Yeah. But hey, like I said, won’t let you down. I’ll do anything you ask of me if it means we’ll win the tournament.”

You pat her shoulder, grinning. “Attagirl. You’re making real progress here, Kitten.” You wave your free arm about in a sweep manner. “Soon, you’ll be the most popular kid in school, everyone will want to be your friend!”

“Yeah. Let’s think realistically here, Trudy.”

The two of you head inside the Sports warehouse, and you’re positively blindsided by the instant reminder that you let your crews paint their tanks.

“Hey, Gertrude,” Cathy greets you immediately, eager. “Like what you see?”

You cross your arms, bemused. At least we’ll be learning about camouflage soon.

With that, you hear the familiar grinding tracks of Captain Dubois’ M551 Sheridan. It stops outside the entrance to Sports Warehouse, and Captain Dubois jumps out. When she sees the painted tanks, she coyly smiles.

She looks down at you. “I see you want the enemy to see you.”

Your team moves down the Sportsfield in an echelon formation. You are turned out in the hatch of your Sherman, leaning back and letting the wind breeze by as you all move down the Sportsfield at leisurely pace. Over your headset, Captain Dubois gives you instructions. The previous one was open formation. Not too difficult, means you all won’t crash into each other.

“Close formation!” says Captain Dubois.

You hold up your radio and repeat the order. “Close formation!”

The tanks start converging on each other to close the gaps. You look back at them. In order, it’s you in front, the S35 behind, the KV-1S, the M5A1 Stuart, the Churchill, and the SU-122.

However, the closing is interrupted by the Churchill accidentally PIT maneuvering the Stuart, which in turn sends the Stuart spinning out. The Churchill steers away and accidentally collides with SU-122.

You look back, unamused.

Dubois has the Crew Commanders and you sitting in front of a whiteboard. “Righto,” she says, “The key to being a good commander is to constantly have your head on a swivel. If you lose focus for even a minute, you could lose the entire tank and potentially the entire match. Everything about being a Commander relies on having situational awareness.”

She draws a square on the whiteboard, representing the tank. “Now, some of your tanks might lack the cupolas with the viewports, and sometimes the periscope might not be sufficient. So you’re going to have to turn out.

“When you turn out, you have the best potential view of the situation, but you’re also creating a higher silhouette of your tank. If you’re hiding behind a hill, you might give away that you’re hiding a tank down there. If you’re hiding in a bush, your head might be poking out. That kind of stuff.”

Cathy raises her hand. “Are we gonna be quizzed on this?”

Dubois nods. “Yeah, it’s called the match with Heinlein.”

“So…” You stand at the whiteboard, watching Dubois draw out in detail Oddball’s Roundabout. “You go up the alley first.”

Dubois nods, “Correct. What next?”

“Then, depending on the street, take a right or a left and into an alley that connects with the one you left.”

“And then…?”

You nod, getting it. “Point blank shot to the engine block.”

Dubois smiles. “Textbook.” The crews have all gathered around the whiteboard, taking notes. Dubois turns to them all and says, “Right, Oddball’s Roundabout exploits a very well known factor in urban combat, lack of situational awareness. For those of you commanding or for those of you in the radio operation position, you’re really going to need to learn how to read maps and calculate your position on the fly.”

Samatha raises her hand. “Can’t we just blow the buildings out of the way?”

Dubois chuckles. “In theory you can, all damage is compensated by the ITL. They’d just prefer if you didn’t though.” Dubois erases the current drawing and replaces it with six large squares arranged in a 2x3 fashion with only a small amount of space between. “Now, this is what a city will typically be arranged as. Street’s narrow enough that you can only really fit two tanks at a tank at most, and high buildings that break sight. Now, because nobody inhabits the buildings during a Tankery match, it’s perfectly safe for you to simply fire through a window if you see a tank on the other side.”

Your crew takes in the information with all the attention it requires.

You yawn, lying back on top of the turret of your Sherman. Nancy comes over to offering a snack of freshly sliced apples. You quickly take them up, gaining the energy and sustenance not to fall asleep.

Lisa is poking her head out of the driver’s hatch. “Man, all this technical theory about tank combat is really hurting my head.”

Nancy says, “Indeed. I have to admit, when I think tanks, I think invincible.”

Ramirez says, “You thought wrong.”

You say, “Well guys, it’s a whole new world to explore, Tankery. Besides, I can honestly say we’re having fun aren’t we? That’s what’s most important isn’t it?”

Nancy nods, smiling. “Of course, President! Couldn’t be a sport if it wasn’t fun.”

Kitten says, “Yeah. I suppose. Not looking forward to loading though.”

“Why not?” you ask.

“The shells are incredibly heavy,” she says. She rubs her arms for a bit of emphasis. “And I mean fucking heavy as shit.”

Nancy looks like she just remembered something. “Oh, President, about last training. I said I would make it up to you, and I figured…” You sit up and look down at her, curious. She looks like she’s dancing around the words, but she eventually finds them. “You think I could be the Gunner?”

I had the same apprehension with that idea too, but based on the shell weight, it's not much different from hefting a particularly heavy bowling ball.

I'm on board with Kitten driving only on the condition that she's at least as good as Lisa, and that she doesn't fall into a habit of breaking the Sherman's tracks while steering.

Also, Ramirez loading up some of that Latina HEAT.

“Sure, Nancy, if Ramirez doesn’t mind?” Ramirez shakes her head. “Okay then, we’ll see how you do on the gun then, Nancy.”

Nancy grins eagerly. “Excellent! Can’t wait!”

Lisa looks at Nancy, curious. “What makes you want to be the gunner, Nancy?”

Nancy sways her head left and right, metaphorical spotlight directly on her. “Oh, well, since the last training I panicked, I wanted to try and fire the gun. See what it felt like.”

Ramirez says, “It feels good.”

You nod. “Righto, Ramirez, you’ll take over loader duties then until further notice.” You look down at Kitten. “Kitten, you’re co-driver/navigator/hull gunner/radio operator. Can you handle that?”

She nods. “Sounds less intensive than loading, that’s for sure.”

“Great.”

Captain Dubois blows her whistle. “Time for Gunnery Practice!”

All of you are crewed up inside the Sherman. The tanks are lined up on one end of the Sportsfield, with on the other end cardboard targets of A38 Valiants with a giant crosshair painted over their sides.

Nancy gets herself used to the Gunnery position, her finger gently stroking the trigger.

“All of your tanks use different range finders on your gunsights. However, once you get past that, you have to understand which shell to use at which point. Whether you need to put an APCR shell or an HEAT round in something is up to the Gunner, Loader, and Commander to decide.”

You look down at Ramirez. “Load AP.” Ramirez picks up the AP shell with ease and then quickly loads it in with the technique Dubois showed to all the loaders.

“Fire at will!” shouts Dubois.

Nancy pulls the trigger, firing the 75mm M3 Gun. The AP shell flies right into the turret of the Valiant, with the other shells of the other tanks landing either short or too far.

You smirk. “Nice job, Nancy.”

Nancy leans back in her seat, flush faced. She looks over at Ramirez. “Good Christ, you’re right. It does feel good.

With that. Training is over. All the tanks are returned to the Warehouse. All of you assemble outside. You stand next to Dubois.

“Good job today, girls, I’m sure you all will give Heinlein a run for it’s money on your match on Saturday.”

Dubois steps back, letting you address the girls. You say, “Like Dubois said, our match is indeed on Saturday. All of you need to be on the ball with this. We do things right, we’ll win, no questions asked.”

You nod. “I’ll learn it inside and out, Captain.” With that, you decide on asking her opinion. “So, Captain. How do you think we’re going to do?”

Captain Dubois claps her hands together, a bit of dust flying out. Her indifferent but happy-go-lucky expression is a shocking swerve from her answer. “I think you’re all screwed.”

You cross your arms, stern. “Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, Captain.”

Captain Dubois shrugs. “Hey, a good commander knows when to be honest and when to pussyfoot around the issue. There’s no reason I can’t be honest here. And besides, if anything, I like being proved wrong.” She starts climbing up on her Sheridan. “You wanna know why?”

“Why?”

“Because being proved wrong, means you’re still able to learn.”

With that, Dubois buttons up into the Sheridan and drives off.

Fredendall war council: the shower sessions.
>>
> Talk to a crew (Team Minie)

“So, Samantha, how are you loving your tank?”

Samantha grins, “It’s way better than the BT-42 and the GMC, that’s for sure!”

Natalya says, “And that’s really saying something.”

Samantha chuckles a bit, scratching the back of her head. “Yeah, it is a bit cramped in the SU-122. But, we’re at least glad to get a reliable tank to work with.”

> + 5 MORALE TO TEAM MINIE

You nod, smiling. “That’s really great. Hope you guys are ready for our match with Robert Heinlein on Saturday.”

Megan pumps her fist. “We’ll show those scrubs how to shoot a gun properly.”

“Hey, Anna. I see you’ve painted your tank just a plain old olive.”

Anna nods, adjusting her glasses a touch. “Indeed we have. I was going to go for something a little louder like red or blue, but then Mamie told me that we actually needed to blend into the environment, considering our tank isn’t the most well-armoured.”

Mamie says, “Or the fastest.”

Bess says, “Or the most well-armed.”

Anna says, “Yes, thank you girls.” She looks back at you. “Anyway, I like smart decisions, and I believe we have made a smart decision here.”

You shrug. “Can’t argue with that. How’s Kitten treating you by the way?”

Anna giggles. “She’s cute when she sleeps. Woke her up today, we had a bit of lunch and she told me the wonders of anime and video games.”

You chuckle with her. “She’ll do that.”

Kitten shouts from another part of the shower. “I can hear you you know.”

“Yes, thank you, Kitten.”

Suddenly, there’s a knocking at the entrance of the shower. You look over and see Pinkerton and O’Bannon. Pinkerton says, “You know the drill. Fredendall’s here to see you.”

“Sure, send her in.”

O’Bannon chortles at that until she looks over at Pinkerton glaring at her. “Oh, come on, Alana. You gotta admit that was funny.”

“Whatever.” Pinkerton looks over at you and says, “You’re coming with us.”

You nod, grabbing a towel and making yourself decent. You head on over with Pinkerton and O’Bannon and into the lockerrooms, as your crew look at you with curiosity.

Sitting on one of the benches is Fredendall, busying texting someone on her smartphone. She looks up at you and smiles. “Gertrude!” She spreads her arms out, apparently wanting a hug. “Come here!”

She looks a bit hurt. “You’re gonna leave me hanging?”

“Yes.”

Fredendall pouts. “Figures. But, I suppose you’re not decent, it’d be embarrassing.” She pockets her smartphone and stands up. “Anyway, I came here to talk to you.”

You cross your arms, exhaling deeply. “Well, what do you want to talk about that we couldn’t talk about over the phone?”

Fredendall shrugs. “Oh, can’t we catch up as friends, Gertrude? You know, fellow class presidents!”

You say, “I’d really prefer if you just got to the point and stopped pussyfooting around.” O’Bannon and Pinkerton go off and lean against the wall, watching the two of you talk idly. Fredendall simply crosses her arms, frowning.

“Oh, come on, Gertrude, you’re not a fan of casual conversation?” Your stare is your response to that. “Tch, fine. I can see you’re not in a good mood so there’s no point beating around the bush then. I hear you’re about to have a match with Robert Heinlein Military Academy.”

You nod. “Yeah…”

“And you know, I do like the Tankery program-“

“No you don’t.”

“Yeah, you’re right, I don’t.” Fredendall smiles smugly at you, her face turned away but her eyes meeting yours. “But here’s the thing, I believe you can win.”

“No you don’t.”

“No, really! I do! In fact, I’m willing to make a bet with you. There’s money involved you know!”

You tilt your head. “What kind of bet?”

“Simple, I give back the 5,000 dollars I took from you earlier in the year, and then some. 20,000 in total in fact. That’s if you win the match, which I’m sure you will.”

“… and if I lose?”

Fredendall snickers, walking up to you and getting right up into your face. “Well, that’ll be up to me, on the incredibly slim chance you lose. I’ll think of something though.” She whispers to you, grinning. “So what do you say?”

“How about no.”

Fredendall steps back, apparently surprised. “Is that so? Are you sure.”

You nod. “I don’t take unknown bets. And from what I understand about you Fredendall, I’m sure it’ll be something incredibly demeaning to either me, my team, or the school, or all three combined.”

Fredendall crosses her arms, puffing her cheeks. “Pft. You’re no fun at all.” She looks over at Pinkerton and O’Bannon and waves them off. They leave out the lockerroom. “Anyway, the offer will stand until the match, if you so desire.” She walks over to the exit as well, then turns around. “Oh yeah, how’d you get stuck doing that stupid play too?”

You say, “I wanted to help.”

She rolls her eyes. “What a white knight. Speaking of which, I did a thing. I took about half the play’s funding, gonna use it to fund the Newspaper. Get us some color pictures!”

You start seeing red. “Okay, you know what, why the fuck are you doing this? Did I accidentally throw your mother through a window or something? You realize what’s at stake here?!”

Fredendall glares at you. “You want to know why I’m doing this?”

“Yes!”

She walks up to and pokes her finger into your chest. “Because I am right. And you are wrong. Simple. You try and fight the current, you drown. Simple as that.” She sighs. “Honestly, you’re so retarded sometimes, it’s kind of funny.”

“Fuck you.”

Fredendall returns to being all sunshine and smiles and raises her hands defensively. “Hey, I just call it how I see it.” She walk over to the entrance. “See you ‘round, Gertrude.”

You sigh. Good grief.

Nancy says, “She seems to really have it out for you.”

“Well,” you say, “I didn’t kill her parents or anything. Jesus.”

Ramirez says, “Maybe she actually has a raging crush on you and she wants to deny it by constantly pushing you away through these methods that antagonize you.”

You all look over at Ramirez, confused and shock. You say, “That’s the strangest thing you’ve ever said, Ramirez.”

Ramirez shrugs. “Just putting ideas out there.”

Kitten says, “Well, I’m sure we’ll win the match and show her what’s what. Right?”

“Hey, Octavia, I-“

“LET ME GUESS!” You quickly flinch the cell phone away from your ear. “YOU’RE CALLING BECAUSE FREDENDALL TOOK HALF OUR BUDGET TO PUT INTO HER STUPID SCHOOL NEWSPAPER!?”

“I DON’T GIVE A FUCK IF SHE’S SUSPENDED! I’LL RIP HER LEGS OFF AND SHOVE THEM UP HER FUCKING ASS!”

“… I’m guessing now is a bad time to call you.”

>>
> Some mixture of EVERYTHING

“Right, I think I’m done for today, guys. Kitten, want to have some dinner at my place?”

Kitten nods. “Sure.”

You turn off your shower and look over at all the crews. “Everyone, can I have your attention?” They all look at you attentively. “I just want to warn you all that you should probably secure your funding somewhere safe. The Senior President Fredendall has seen fit to secure a bit more funding from some of our clubs, and I feel like she might go after you guys.”

Janek says, “Hey, we didn’t have funds to begin with.” The Aviators and the Polish agree, muttering and shrugging. “We’re right with you though, Boss. We’ll be ready for Saturday.”

You nod. “Tomorrow’s the strategy meeting, we’ll be in the Sophomore Offices in the Command Tower after school. Be there.”

Everyone says their affirmatives. With that, you exit the showers and start getting your clothes on.

You look over at Kitten. “Have any fun today?”

You quickly take off your bra and your blazer then relax on the bed. TIME TO REL-wait schoolwork.

You crack open a textbook and start studying for that French quiz tomorrow. You lie forward on the bed, idly on chewing on your pencil and studying the je, tu, il/elle/on, vous, nous, ont forms of all the verbs you covered so far. It’s probably just gonna be basic vocabulary and grammar, but hell, can’t hurt to be paranoid.

Meanwhile, since Kitten’s a better cook than you, she’s put some instant noodles in the microwave, and then resigned herself to watching TV. Jeopardy to be precise.

The slide that comes up for the topic of the use of Pan in words is: “This german word, commonly used to describe a tank.”

Kitten says, “Panzer.”

The contestants look stumped.

Kitten says a little louder. “IT’S PANZER YOU MORONS!”

You say, “They can’t hear you.”

“HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NOT KNOW THIS SHIT!?”

None of them answer it. Alex Trebek says, “The word is Panzer.”

Kitten giggles to an out-of-context joke from Griselda. You remember how well Kitten and Griselda got along. The two went together like peas and carrots.

You’re not entirely sure why they did, but hell, you’re not gonna question it. At least Kitten has friends.

Kitten says, “Yeah, I’ll put her back on. See you, Griselda.” She hands you back the phone.

“Anyway, Sis,” says Griselda. “Glad to hear you’re alright. Gonna get back to my homework now, love you!”

“J’adore vous!” you say. You hang up.

Kitten slurps up some noodles. “Hm. What do you think Griselda’s gonna send us?”

“She’s sending us a tank. Probably something out of NOVA Tank Museum.”

Kitten nods, intrigued. “Is that so? Maybe one of NOVA’s running Jagdtigers, or maybe it’s many T29 or T30 prototypes? Or maybe a Pershing?”

She smirk, snapping your finger. “Oh, it’ll definitely be something. Something real great.”

Kitten says, “I remember going to NOVA Tank Museum. They stockpiled a lot of the stuff for the Japanese Home Island defense, the Chi-He, the Chi-Nu, they even have a running Chi-To.”

You nod. “Yeah, visiting the museum was always great fun.”

You shut the textbook. Done with studying.

You open the textbook again. Never hurt to keep at it.

Kitten meanwhile has picked up your empty bowl of your noodles as well as hers and brought them over to the sink. She looks down at your textbook. “Pft. French.”

You look up at her. “Something wrong with French?”

Kitten innocently shrugs. “Just saying, I hear French people are damn rude.”

“Hey!” you point your finger at her, pouting. “The French language is one of the most romantic things you can learn, besides cooking and learning how to play the Violin.”

“God, you know, so many smart kids in Middle School played the Violin, is it like the genius instrument or something?”

You shrug. “I wouldn’t know. But anyway, I have a French quiz tomorrow and I gotta study the shit out of this material.”

Kitten sits down next to you. “Okay, Madeline. How about you demonstrate some of that French to me then.”

“Sure!” You lean up next to her, bringing your hands together in your lap and smiling sweetly. “J’adore vous, Kitten!” She flicks your forehead. “Ow!” You poke her in the side, causing her to flinch away, giggling.

“Oh shit, you-“ You immediately begin tickling the living daylights out of her. “NO-HAHAHAHA! TRUDY! STOP!”

“NEVER!”

“HAHAHAHA! YOU ASS!” She falls backward onto the bed, flailing helplessly at you. “HAHAHAHA!”

Did we ever ask Octavia about the swedish tanks?
>>
>>28460875
Nah. We did get half our funds stolen by Fredendall though.
>>
>>28460974
That was from the threater club. not our tank fund.

With that said, we might have to give back some of those funds the techs gave us
>>
>>28457869
Wait...

Did Dubois bring a crew with her for the Sheridan? Are there three other people just kinda hanging around who never leave the tank?
>>
>>28461198
No. She took a book from Gallia and drives the tank on her own.
