You should take it down. Now. But- You need to get back to base. This thing is showing new behavior, unprecedented ones.

This is too close to base to try shit.

Not with what you’re seeing here. Carnage is showing humanity, rather than that of a cruel, intelligent animal on the hunt. God only knows what that thing is capable of.

You hurry back towards base, but as you near the base you notice something- You aren’t alone.

Maybe it hasn’t noticed you. Maybe it just doesn’t care- but Carnage is headed straight towards the base. The symbiote’s biting at the leash.

FIGHT KILL

KILL THE ABOMINATION

You can feel the beginning of the suit trying to shift- from inorganic armor to flesh muscles and teeth.

It wants to take over.

It’s pleading, fighting.

Damn it, suit, no. You're a symbiote, you should understand the idea of working with others for mutual benefit. We can fight it after we get backup. Monster vs. monster is a harder fight than monster vs. monster and his friends with grenades.

No, let me explain how things work with Agent Venom- the more you crit fail, the more the Bond percentage goes up- 10% a crit fail.

>But, using a venom point does allow a reroll, thoguh it does not remove the bonding percentage increase- that's decreased by not having the symbiote on your- for ever 10%, it takes a week.

>WILLPOWER OPPOSED-22,vs23(NATURAL 20- Venom Point Earned!)

The symbiote tries to wrestle control, tries to turn you both into a bloodthirsty monster.

You aren’t having any of it.

There’s too much at risk.

And the world’s got too many monsters in it already.

You force the symbiote back- for all the bloodlust it tries to give off you fight back with something worth protecting. Your friends. The innocent. A tomorrow worth living in.

The symbiote retreats, shamed as it hardens back into your armor as you extend a hand and shoot out a tendril that anchors itself into the building before the symbiote reels it in, drastically increasing your arrival speed. You kick on the front door- loudly. Again and again.

Fucking Phil, had to go and ruin your radio.

There’s movement and alarm inide. Just a little more until sunrise.

You turn around, seeing Carnage rushing towards the gate and pull out your rifle and shoot a grenade from it at the Beast- it slows as you begin a hail of automatic fire on it.

Letting the symbiote control that with a tendril, you take out your trusty sidearm and begin firing.

The hail of weaponry slows Carnage who is taking every hit. It slows to a slow gait before stopping in front of you as you notice the sound of metal.

Bullets drop to the ground as the holes in Carnage begin to fix themselves. Forming forearm blades, you charge towards Carnage. You just need to hold out. Just a few minutes more.

You exchange blow after blow, feeling yourself weaken. The symbiote can only take so much punishment. As you knock back Carnage with one last uppercut, you let out a sigh of relief.

Here comes the sun.

Carnage snarls as its form begins to shrink, retreating to a human form. As it gets up, your eyes widen.

...Oh, I appear to have missed a line.

Lemme do over.

MARY JANE WATSON VS GWEN STACY
Gwen fights the Maximum Carnage killer, who is empowered by the Carnage symbiote.

Gwen wins.

Carnage is at deaths door.

The symbiote leaves its host, MJ, and latches onto Gwen.

Later, the good doctor finds MJ, who's nearly dead and suffering from symbiote withdrawl symptoms.

I fully expect Alice to go batshit crazy.
>>
>>28524196
>everything ever is awful
Straight up Kubo there. I like it.
>>
>>28524186
Me too, but still, saying Gwen being Carnage is our fault for that is like saying Reed Richards destroying Latveria is our fault because Sue wanted out. We played a role in this, but reacting with genocide is just fucking nuts.
>>
>>28524196
Nah, MJ isn't the Maximum Carnage killer, she's Shriek at best.
>>
>>28524186
We'll find a way to smooth things out when we get back. Hopefully
>>
>>28524176
Carnage is almost always bonded to Cassidy in 616. It inherited Venom's desire to stay with one person and thinks Cassidy is the perfect nutjob for it. Carnage HAS occasionally possessed multiple people along with Cassidy, but has never (to my knowledge) abandoned him for good and gone on to a legacy character. I think, now that they're bonded that it would be difficult to do so.
>>
>>28524220
Well, all things have a starting point. We may have initiated a chain of events that fucked everything up.
>>
>>28524176
Symbiotes (those living suits like Flash has and Carnage is) are sluts. They jump from host to host.

Carnage starts as a cereal killer, but Venom gives "birth" to another symbiote which bonds to the killer and warps the symbiote into a crazed killer.

Since Carnage in our time is most likely just a regular old killer and is egging on Spider-Man I don't think it's Gwen since she could easily kill us.

I think something happened to cause her getting bound to this symbiote and it quite possibly has full control now.
>>
>>28524241
Ultimate Carnage was Gwen Stacy, sort of.

We probably should have kept that in mind.
>>

>>
>>28524253
Most symbiotes want to jump from person to person, draining them, but Venom and its offspring are actually quite different from the norm. They want to permanently bond with someone. Venom winds up on so many people because he keeps getting rejected (explaining his possessive and obsessive behavior). Carnage found a perfect match in Cassidy, Toxin stayed with its partner until he died, as did the other symbiotes taken from Venom.
>>

Pretty sure it's because Carnage needs undamaged DNA from Peter to maintain itself. It's been going after clones, but since they're imperfect copies the DNA can't sustain it for very long. If it gets its claws in Peter, it's set for life.
>>
>>28526875
Since it needs undamaged spider DNA, and Gwen has that, we can infer that it does not, in fact, have Gwen.

>>
>>28527272
Well, we did tell her we were dating someone else in a pretty insensitive way.
>>
>>28527272
No...Parker DNA. The res suit is an Abomination, so it was man made. It is incomplete because part of it's sequence is based on our or our father's DNA probably. She doesn't need the Spider Blood, she just needs the Peter parts of the blood. Which sucks balls.
>>
Well this was... I don't even.

Also it's clear that Gwen was reacting to the scent of realpeter rather than seeing her "father" like that, which she must have known about for some time, maybe even did.

That said, I'm not sure if she's a clone or not since clones don't get the originals memories and Gwen knows us. That's a bit shaky, but whatever. We need to end this quick no matter what.
>>
>>28527746
Clones CAN have the original memories.Ben Reilly thought he was Peter Parker at first.

We can also pretty much be sure that 2035 Gwen isn't 2013 Carnage since the later didn't know who Spider-Man was. Peter Parker doesn't know what we know though.
>>
>>28527848
If Gwen was Garnage 1, she wouldn't need to constantly call out Spider-Man since she has ready access to him. This at least Peter knows. And in regards to just wanting to off him publicly for he cameras; that type of showmanship is reserved for Hobgoblin.

Some things to remember (ooc) is that our Spider-Sense is flaring up like crazy, which means that the symbiote hasn't tasted true spider blood (unless Cosgrove's throwing us a bone).
Therefor it's safe to assume that this Gwen might not have spider-sense.

Also worth noting that if this Carnage is truly vampiric, which is quite possible, it will not be able to assist its host in daylight, it would also explain why she appears so young (unless clone). HOWEVER, Symbiotes can also mimic people and outfits. So perhaps this isn't Gwen after all, but some sort of mindfuck.

The best case scenario is that we have to solo a bloodthirsty ragemonster Gwen who doesn't have spider-sense, but instead most likely has at least 10 years of experience on us.
>>
>>28528170

We have one thing she doesn't.

We are tenuously aware that we are magic.

That's worth it's weight in spiders right now by comic book and Spider-book logic.
>>
>>28525965
Alice isn't having a good time right now, so I'm not sure that's the case.
Also she's mostly robot now, so the symbiote can't bind to her anyway.
>>
>>28528196
We don't know any magic. Unless DOOM or Strange shows up in the nick of time via locating another mystic presence, it won't do shit for us.
>>
>>28528268
It could be useful if we die. But... I'd rather avoid that.
>>

>>
>>28528310
No, since they'd be undone anyway once we go back to the past.

Also way to go Flash, you lead her right here when you could have sniped her.
Sure she'd have come back, but still.
>>
>>28528268
Something like that, just being aware he is a totem/magic has saved spidey's life a few times/done a power up asspull at a critical juncture.

Nothing about actually knowing magic.
>>
>>28528170
We could sense Gwens intentions back in the past too; so the symbiote might not have that ability, but Gwen might.
Us having spider-sense means nothing right now.
>>
>>28528170
Just wanted to point out, that it wouldn't matter either way. The reason the Symbiotes don't trigger Peter's spider sense is because Venom bonded to him.
However, Ben, a clone of Peter was able to sense Venom with his Spider Sense because the Symbiote never bonded with him.

Since we haven't had contact with the Symbiote yet, it hasn't placed those markers that makes our spider sense register it as "Us", so we can detect the Symbiotes.
>>
>>28528508
>>28528543
The fact we have access to our most critical power is going to be super important. Hopefully Gwen doesn't have the sense (due to clone... which doesn't make sense why they wouldn't have it) or access to the symbiote due to it being dawn.
That said I would not be surprised to get in a brutal find and have Gwen pull a hidden knife or something.
>>
Hey maybe blind Hawkeye will save everyone.
Or a DOOM battalion.
Or an army of Reeds Ultrons.
Or maybe we're just proper fucked,

Can we just fast forward a week already?
>>
>>28528590
>due to clone... which doesn't make sense why they wouldn't have it
Two ideas: First, the clones are made out of degraded samples. The blood was stored for a long time and isn't in the best condition. Depending on if/how Gwen was cloned, this may not be applicable to her.

Second, it could be that while some of our power is related to us being bitten by a mutated spider that the connection to the Web of Fate is NOT one of the powers we received from Science, but is a power we received from the spider gods. Since the clones are not favored by the gods, they don't have the power. Gwen probably wouldn't have Spider-Sense in that case.
>>
>>28528753
Well as soon as the fight starts we'll know just what she's packing. In any case we're going to need help since our sense is being an ass and immobilizing us.

I fully imagine her just walking up to us, the standard laying on of hands as we kneel, then Flash blasting her face off from his back.
This of course will only piss her off, but buy us some time.
>>
>>28528753
I think it was estabnlished in 616 that the Spider Totem blessed Peter after he gained spider powers. He gained his powers through science, which it needed him to do for various reasons eventual showdown with Morlun, having an agent not directly created so that mystical foes can't trace him back to the totem by sympathetic links, etc, but once he had his powers, the totem decided to grant him some more, or at least a seal of approval and some totemic authority. So he's got all the authority of a totemic shaman of Spider, but his core powers are all mortal science.
>>
>>28528868
Like a lot of the stuff in the books, it's open to interpretation. Peter Parker himself is a complete skeptic about the whole thing. He knows Magic and gods and stuff exist, but he's also confident that it's much more mundane than the magicians or gods make it out to be.
>>
>>28528903
I still think he and Pym need to sit down and hammer out the rules by which magic functions scientifically.

>Amadeus Cho: "Wait, you can see magic now?
>Pym: "It's just energy. And energy follows rules. And that's Science."
>>
>>28529034
Do we really want Pym to be the one to figure out magic and translate it in scientific terms? I mean if anybody can do it, it's him... But if there's anything worse than Ultron, it's an Ultron that understands the infinite depths of the mystic.
>>

>>
>>28529116

Also Flash is not going to be happy to learn we time shifted.

We should have given Doom our father's hard drive. Let him spend 20 years decoding it, using its technology, improving on it. Then we pick up the finished improved versions and schematics for them and return to the past, giving ourselves and present-Doom a 20 year headstart on developing the technologies our father envisioned.

Also, I'm going to start dumping pics of some alternate Spider Man concepts from 'Project Rooftop'. Some of them might just have viable components we could incorporate into future Spider Costumes. Case in point, I really think this particular suit had a good idea. IF we can miniaturize the projection nozzles on the web spinners, we could finger-mount them. That would give us a lot of versatility in creating web constructs on the fly. Parachutes, nets, cuffs. And it would raise the web output so that covering a grenade or bomb would be a lot faster. Lose the scarf, but the helmet/mask system here looks good both as a protective measure for Peter's big brain, and as a housing for electronics. At the very least a bluetooth linked to a smartphone hidden in the helmet or on the belt.

I like the hood on this one, simply because it breaks up the humanoid outline. People are pattern-seeking creatures and we notice the outlines of other humans when they're camouflaged more easily than larger shapeless masses. That's the entire concept behind sniper Ghillie Suits. So maybe Peter could implement something similar, but more urban.

Red and black is always a bold statement, but if we can incorporate gel-packs of the kinetic-dampening material we made, those lines can also be the delineation between gel cells. It's sleek, easily camoflaged, and appropriately intimidating. Might want to avoid red for a while after dealing with Carnage though.

We need to rock a white or yellow suit when we get back. A beacon of light for the future.
>>
>>28530168
and a beacon to get a pumpkin bomb thrown at us
>>
>>28530185
And the bright red was somehow a better defense against that?
>>
>>28530168
I think we should keep the regular suit on.

Everyday is a last stand battle.

Though, seriously, after spiderman and other super heroes saved the world countless times, he gets gun down by police. I hope marvel earth in this quest isn't as stupid or else we might let the earth be destroyed.

At least they not DC people who protest the joker from being killed by batman or people being afraid of superman after he killed the joker who just nukes metropolis. To the point of kindnapping supes parents.

While the ab-armor may need to be sacrificed in the name of flexibility, I like the bracers and the addition of an offensive weapon. We should see about incorporating a taser or pepper spray into the shooters. Something with more versatility than our fists.
>>
>>28530240
White is also useless when were trying to sneak,
at least in the dark red is somewhat concealable

If working with doom is going to be a regular thing, we need to look into some serious protection. I like the robustness of the webshooter design here, and the fact that the armor has a color-changing option. Trim it down, make it from something flexible (like Peter's ablative web fluid armor design), and this may work for us.

I think the backpack in this case deserves special consideration. Keep a few smaller cartridges in the wrist units as emergency backup, but a larger tank on the back could make extended patrols and protracted fights easier by providing a surplus of webbing.
>>
>>28530057
I like the hood too, as long as if we ever do something like this we remember not to put the spider sense thing on there. Broadcasting your precognition danger sense is a stupid idea.

>>28530292
They remind me of Ben's web shooters, which is actually something if like to do. His used larger fluid cartridges and had neat tricks like impact webbing.
>>
>>28530256
One of the concepts I had was a Dredd style "revolver" style wrist mounted shooter with several canisters that would rotate appropriately and contain different fluids as needed. The problem is there are too many points of failure between the mechanics and electronics needed to make it work.

>>28530244
You're just talking about the Injustice continuity. DC tends to worship its heroes something proper most of the time. Marvel citizens are terrible people who, in fairness, live in a terrible world.

>>
>>28530412
See, I like the hardened forearm bracer. It's not a part of the body that needs a lot of flexibility except at the wrist and elbow, and can function as an excellent hardpoint for mounting tools and weapons. I'm thinking Webshooters underneath the wrist as normal, taser system above the wrist, and impact webbing on the side, with secondary webshooter lines running to the fingertips for faster weaving of complex structures like nets and such. Maybe mix some pepper-spray into the impact webbing, give it a little kick when fired into someone's face.
>>
>>28530513
bracers and grieves to covers our forearms and the portion of our legs below the knee and above the foot wouldn't be a bad idea if we can ever get some martial arts training in since it would let us block more damaging attacks we might not be able to dodge for whatever reason. That and when we drop them when shit gets real, speed boost.
>>
>>28530448

everybody wears black nowadays. I think its sooo lame. Even the new freakin Robocop wears black armor. sry, but gay.
>>
>>28530586
Nothing wrong with black as long as it's not too dominant.
>>
>>28530586
You could make an arguement that the red and blue make a much more friendlier appearance which help us get the support of the people and not black like a thief that hides.

Or you can call that anon there gay and start a faggot cycle that will fuck up the thread.

Let keep it neighborhood friendly.
>>
>>28530663
I agree we should stick to brighter "friendlier" colors. And is it me, or is white becoming more and more sinister these days?
>>
>>28530716
It can be, yeah. I think we should avoid the bright Royal Blue, though.

I think our best bet is to upgrade the The End costume. Use the red from >>28530057, with pants and jacket/mask highlights of >>28530292's blue, and a dim/dark yellow trim breaking it up at wrists, ankles, shoulders, hips etc like in >>28530057.
>>
>>28530844
Not a bad look I guess. Very Superman; which I appreciate.
Also Yellow is one of our identifying colors in this world now anyway.
>>
>>28530934
True, but I think the bulk of the jacket and looseness of the pants sets us apart from the standard 'spandex' stereotype. We're not just running around in our underoos here. We need to portray a serious, professional manner when we're not mouthing off. People need to see we're not just a clown with a gimmick.
>>
>>28531029
I tend to hate the street clothed super look, but The End pulls it off decently enough.
We probably do need to eventually move in the direction of streamlining ourselves a bit to something similar to the Superior outfit. At least as far as lenses and wrist mounted gadgets goes.
>>
>>28531179
I think the lenses and backpack should be a priority, but we don't have the engineering experience or materials to pull off the extra robo-arms. BUT DOOM DOES
>>
>>28531223
I wasn't talking about the arms, which are more often than not shown as a liability, I was talking about the streamlined webslingers/ bracers/ communication/ tracing devices on his wrists.
>>
>>28531355
Yeah, I think that should be a priority.

But if this quest goes the way I think it will, we'll have to split our efforts between Engineering, Martial Arts/Cross Training, and Magic.
>>
>>28531390
And Science. Can't forget about that.

We don't want Rider Quest to turn into another bi-monthly quest like Bleach Quest. The ball hasn't even gotten rolling in it yet.
>>

I'm content for Rider Quest this Saturday. Lest of course the Soul Society interlude is done. Though his endgame for BQ might keep having the goal post moved as with each chapter proves Juha Back to be an even bigger dick than we previously thought. It just keeps escalating with each successive appearance.
