You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

“Kitten! Wake up! It’s time for tanks!”

You start shaking Kitten awake from her delicate slumber. “Come on, pussycat! We gotta get up bright and early if we’re gonna look good!”

Kitten, still covered in her blanket and now curling into a fetal position, simply says, “Fuck off.”

“Oh, don’t be such a baby, it’s only 4:30 in the morning!”

“I thought you said we would wake up at 5.”

“I did. I just woke up a little earlier and thought, fuck it, I’ll wake Kitten up too.”

Kitten sighs, and crawls deeper into the protective layer of sheets. “Go away. Tanks can wait…”

“Nonsense!” You tug the covers off of Kitten, revealing her sleeping in her underwear. Note to yourself, get her some decent pajamas. She curls up even further, groaning at the sudden loss of warmth. “Come on!”

“No.”

“Yes!”

“No.”

“Yes!”

“No.”

“No!”

“Yes.”

“Ha! Got you! LET’S DO THIS!” You quickly pick Kitten up and head for the bathroom. She sleepily moans at being separated from the wonderful haven that is her bed. You quickly disrobe Kitten from her underwear and stuff her into the shower. “First things first! The all important shower!”

Kitten yelps as you blast the water on Hell Freezing Over. “FUCK, WHY IS IT COLD!?”

“To wake you up.”

“FUCK YOU!”

You disrobe yourself as well, joining Kitten in the shower. “Tsk tsk, Kitten. It’ll get warmer.”

[2/2]

You pull up a bottle of shampoo and conditioner you brought down from your room last night. “Now let’s see… do I use the shampoo first or the conditioner?”

Kitten shivers under the water. “D-Does i-it really m-matter?”

“Of course!” You look at both, then come to another conclusion. “Actually, to hell with it, it doesn’t.”

“J-just get this over with! You bitch!”

You quickly squirt out some shampoo into your hands and start lathering it into Kitten’s incredibly dirty hair. “Now, now, Kitten. A good shampoo is essentially to one’s hair. If you don’t use the right shampoo, you’re going to go bald.”

Kitten crosses her arms, puffing her cheeks. “I-I thought that’s just for guys!”

“You’d be surprised!” You start running Kitten’s hair under the now somewhat warmer water. You then bring up your hand to Kitten’s nose. “Smell that.”

She hesitantly sniffs it. “… Strawberries?”

You beam. “Yep! Enjoy it! Because that’s what your hair smells like now.”

“… I like strawberries.”

“I know.” With the shampoo and the conditioner quickly out of the way, you decide it’s time for the best part of the shower. BODY WASH.

“WHOA! WHAT THE-“

“Relax.” You quickly begin scrubbing Kitten’s body with a rag. “Gotta get in deep, otherwise your skin’s gonna get all dirty and manky and janky and all that crap.”

“Y-Yeah, I can understand that but-“

“Relax, relax. I know what I’m doing. You think you’re the only person I join in on the shower?”

“… huh?”

With all that figured out, the shower is over. You quickly bring Kitten out and start drying the everloving shit out of her and yourself with a hair dryer appropriated from Nancy.

“Are hair dryers supposed to be incredibly hot?”

You nod as you dry off her hair. “Indeed, Kitten!”

“You better not come anywhere near my body with that thing!”

… “Wouldn’t dream of it!” Okay, stick to towels then.

With that done as well, you quickly dress her up in her school uniform. You also get her clad in those black thigh highs you wore a couple of days ago, and you also do up her hair in a neat little ponytail.

You hold up the whittle bow Anna appropriated, smiling innocently. Kitten crosses her arms and looks away. That doesn’t mean she’s said no. You quickly tie it to her hair.

Anyway, with that done and sorted, what do you want to get done first?

“Let’s go wake up my staff, Kitten.”

Kitten simply slouches where she stands, her eyes drooping. “Can I go back to sleep?”

“You can ride on my back and sleep, but no more than that, Kitten.”

You quickly piggyback and Kitten and head out the door. You decide to wake Nancy first. You head up a level and come to her door, then knock. “Nancy! Time for tanks! You ready?”

“Getting ready! Come on in, door’s open!”

You open up the door and step inside. You adjust your grip on Kitten as you look around. The place was clean as fuck, almost as clean as Kitten’s place. You look over and see Nancy on the end of the bed, getting her socks on. Her shirt is still unbuttoned and her skirt doesn’t look fitted yet.

“Sorry, I catch you off guard, Nancy?”

She shakes her head, “Nah, nah. I actually wake up a minute ago and decided to get dressed.”

You nod, chuckling. “Ah, I see. Punctual as ever. Hope you’re not wearing your jammies underneath!”

She shakes her head, smiling innocently. “I sleep in the nude!”

… Ah.

Nancy stands up and buttons down her shirt and skirt. “Anyway, President. You think we’re ready to do this?”

“Of course! It’s what we’ve been training for, isn’t it?”

Nancy nods as she gets her blazer on. “Right, it is! I won’t let you down, promise!”

You pat Nancy shoulder. “Nancy, the only way you can let me down is if you stop being you.” She blushes a little at that, grinning. “Anyway, Nancy. Let’s go wake up Lisa and Ramirez.”

You leave Nancy’s dorm and head on over to Lisa’s place. You knock on her door. “Lisa! It’s time for tanks!”

“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Lisa opens her door, yawning heavily. “Whooooo… Time for tanks.” She carries her blazer over her shoulder, looking tired as all hell. “Anyway, guess we’re all ready.”

You nod. “Just gotta get Ramirez.”

“I’m already here.”

All of you jump in fright as you greeted by Ramirez, standing next to you as if she’d always been there. “Where the fuck did you come from?”

“My dorm?”

… Well, she’s not wrong.

“Okay,” you sigh, calming down a little. “Crew’s all assembled.”

“Welp, time for breakfast girls, where we eating?”

All of them, including Kitten, say, “Denny’s.”

Thus, you find yourself at the local Denny’s ordering some blueberry pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon. Nancy orders herself the same thing as well, while Lisa and Ramirez simply order skillets.

As for Kitten, well…

“Why is Kitten sharing your pancakes with you?”

You shrug, Kitten is leaning into the wall of your booth, trying futilely to stay awake. “I don’t think she’s that awake enough for a full breakfast.” You quickly take a bit of pancake with your fork and aim at Kitten’s mouth. “Here comes the train! Choo choo!”

“Choo…” Kitten groggily says, “choo… fuck you.”

You giggle and shove it into her mouth. She chews it slowly.

Lisa says, “So, I’m ready for the match. Been studying up on tank driving last night.” She looks over at you. “You done much studying on tanks, Boss?”

You shrug. “Oh, haven’t found a chance to actually.” They all look at you skeptically. “But I’m prepared for today’s match up. I’m sure if we all pull together and batten down the hatches, we can snatch this victory out from under them like a Tom and Jerry cartoon.”

Ramirez says, “I like Tom and Jerry.”

“Anyway,” says Lisa. “Glad you’re at least confident, Boss.” She takes a bite of her skillet. “Gotta say though, the match does look pretty daunting.”

You wave her off, chuckling under your breath. “Oh, Lisa. Relax. We got this!”

With that, you all finish off your breakfasts, tip the waitress, and head on over to the Sportsfield. You’re still carrying Kitten on your back, and contrary to your earlier though, she doesn’t appear to have gotten anymore awake from riding on your back. That’s a real shame.

“Kitten,” you say. “You awake?”

“No,” she says back.

“Just checking then.” You roll your eyes and smirk a little.

You arrive at the Sports warehouse, and the first thing that instantly catches your eye is the Churchill I, now back to it’s original paint scheme, and looking a lot more fresher than normal. You whistle admirably at it.

“They worked all night on it,” says Mr. Mishka. You look back and see him getting his things together. “Morning, girls.”

“Hey, Mr. Mishka!” Lisa quickly runs over and hugs him. “The Freshmen help you get the Churchill together?”

Mr. Mishka nods, chuckling. “Indeed, they’re all sleeping on the other side, worn out.” Mr. Mishka points at you. “Miss Pool, I expect you make good use of the Churchill, may be a little rough around the edges, but it’ll be one of your better tanks I’m sure.”

You nod, smiling. “Thanks, Mr. Mishka. I really appreciate all you’ve done for us.”

He waves you off, wheezing out a laugh. “Hey! I’m just in it for the tanks and the money!” He offers his hand. “Good luck in the match with Heinlein.”

“Thanks, Mr. Mishka.” You shake his hand firmly. “I won’t let you down.”

“Yeah, see you Mr. Mishka,” says Lisa.

With that, Mr. Mishka heads out, waving goodbye as he goes. You and your staff head over to the M4 Sherman. You set Kitten down by the suspension, and then you rustle her hair playfully. She’s already fast asleep.

You look over at the Churchill, and true to Mr. Mishka’s word, you can see the Freshmen sleeping, their backs against the Churchill, leaning on each other. They’re all grease stained and dirty, their white shirts showing signs of oil stains and muck. Now that’s just adorable.

Cathy rouses up from her slumber, yawning deeply. “Guh… what time is it?”

You check the time. Around 5:30 actually. “Around 5:30. You guys were here all night?”

“Well,” Cathy rubs her eyes, her arm rousing Tara to her left and the movement rousing Ashleigh to her right. “I suppose we did. We got the Churchill up and running.”

You nod, smiling. “You sure did.” You pat her head. “Get yourselves up, we’re gonna be heading out soon.”

Cathy nods, standing up. All the other Freshmen wake up as well, stretching and yawning tiredly. “Alright, thanks, Gertrude,” says Cathy. “Think we did okay with the Churchill though?” She waves over at the newly restored Churchill I.

Cathy nods violently. “I will! We all will!”

You snap your finger again. “Ramirez.” Ramirez quickly slides over to you. “Get us all some coffee and maybe something to eat.”

“Righto.” Ramirez leaves the sports warehouse. As she leaves, the Polish Student Association and the Sewing Club arrive, in the midst of a chat actually.

Anna says, “-and that’s why I love silk!”

“Ah, I can agree with that actually,” says Janek. They all notice you and wave. “Hey, Gertrude.”

You nod at them. “Girls, ready for tanks?”

Gussie jumps. “ACTION STATIONS!”

Janek waves over to the Stuart. “LET’S DO THIS!” They all shout and cheer.

Katya shakes her head. “No, I’m smart.”

You chuckle. “Actually, girls that stuff’s not Tankery legal. We gotta stay in historical lines you know?”

Their expressions drop a little. “Oh,” says Marina. “That’s depressing. Was really hoping we could get a big gun on our tank. Maybe a giant uh… something. Maybe a 75.”

You tap the cup against Kitten’s cheek. She rouses enough to take it from you and take a sip, flinching a little at the heat.

“God, I hate coffee,” says Kitten.

“Get used to it,” you say. “We’re tankers now, Coffee is our national drink!”

“Yay.”

You take a large sip of coffee, and immediately feel an incredibly amount of energy surging into your body. You sigh and check the time. 6:15.

Nancy says, “We have to be at the loading station by 7, President.”

Ah. That’s what you were forgetting. You nod. You look over at everyone. “Everyone! Get to your tanks, we gotta to the loading station by 7 if we want to be the first ones off the boat!”

With that, everyone quickly finishes off their coffee and biscuits and heads for their stations.

You bring up some binoculars loaned to you by Captain DuBois and check out where the ship is headed. Past all the morning fog and the brilliant orange sunrise, you can see just barely the destination of the Lafayette Girls Academy.

Casablanca. You can make out the metropolis, closing in as the Academyship sails forward.

You bring the binoculars down and sigh warmly. It’s right there, waiting for you.

Everyone wakes to the sound of tanks rolling down the street, the first time in a couple of decades. Everyone walking by on the street stops by to admire the variety of tanks being thrown into the fight. Some shout words of encouragement.

However, what really gets you are the Naval Studies Engineering students. Not just Dory’s crew.

But just about the entire Department.

They all whoop, shout and cheer you on, waving about rags and signs.

Dory is in front of the crowd, cheering you on. “Get ‘em! Gertrude!”

You wave her off, grinning. “I will!” Man, you didn’t realize you were popular with the Naval Studies kids. No less, engineering. However, in the crowd, you spot a familiar face. Wendy Kniep. She’s crossed her arms, and she’s looking at you with a barely discernable expression. She simply nods as you go by.

With that, you arrive at the Loading Station, and the Naval Studies Merchant kids start directing you onto the loading platform.

That Naval Studies Merchant kid you met earlier a week or two back directs you. “Remember to keep all arms and legs in your vehicle at all times until this platform has come to a full and complete stop.”

With that, everyone has turned out of their tanks and started idling about, waiting to arrive in Casablanca.

As Tara idly plays her banjo as everyone waits to come ashore, you decide to talk to your crew. Lisa is turned up in the drivers hatch, while Nancy and Ramirez on top armor in front of the turret. Kitten’s fast asleep in the co-driver seat.

“So, girls. Casablanca. Can you really believe it?”

Nancy giggles. “Oh I’m so excited to set foot in Casablanca! It’ll be a real adventure!”

Samantha Whitworth in the SU-122 next to you says, “Never been to Casablanca myself! Is it nice?”

Lisa says, “One of the nicer cities in Morocco. Speaking of which, we should probably hope some of the locals know how to speak English.”

Megan Enfield over in the SU-122 says, “We’ll only be there a week. It’s not like we gotta learn the language or anything.”

You chuckle. “Hey, girls,” you point at Samantha. “Hope you’re well prepared for the SU-122. It’s one of our heavy hitters.”

Samantha gives you a smile and a thumbs up. “We’re always ready!”

Natalya says, “No, we’re not.”

“Natalya, shut up.”

With that, there’s an Alarm, signaling the ship has come to a stop. A red light activates on a nearby post, and immediately the loading platform begins sliding out horizontally towards a large red scaffolding tower, kinda like the ones you see in Astronaut movies.

Soon, you’re descending downwards. Nancy looks back at you, grinning. “Are you excited for Casablanca, President?”

“Of course I’m excited! Dry land, foreign cuisine, new people to meet, hell maybe there’s a tank museum in town we can borrow tanks from.”

Lisa says, “Of course, I’ll keep my ear low to the ground if there is a tank museum in town, Boss.”

You nod. “Don’t strain yourself, Lisa.”

“You’re asking me but not Ramirez?” She nods over to Ramirez, who’s simply staring off into space, idle.

You shrug. “Ramirez has it figured it for the most part.”

Lisa rolls her eyes. “Eh, figures.”

The platforms comes to a huge thud of a halt as it hits the Casablanca Marina. The smaller vehicles like cars and trucks are let off first, while the tanks come last. Nancy says, “Remember, we have to be at the designated staging area by 11:00 O’Clock.” Lisa nods.

“I’ll get us there.”

With that, the convoy of tanks rolls on down the pier.

You’re suddenly cast in a shadow. You look up, funny, there’s no clouds in the sky. You look over and OH.

“Whoa!” shouts Lisa. “Is that-“

Ramirez says, “Robert A. Heinlein Military Academy.”

“It’s huge!”

Lisa nods. “Apparently it’s the biggest United States Academyship in service at 17 kilometers.”

Nancy is wide-eyed with shock. “Jesus Christ! How did we not notice that when we docked in here!?”

You bring up your binoculars, “Holy shit…” you say under your breath. Through the glass, you can barely make out the olive drab silhouettes against the gray coating of the Academyship, rolling along. “I think I can see their tanks.”

“What have they got?” asks Nancy.

You sigh. “All of them.”

They all look at you concerned. Fuck it, brave face time. You bring your binoculars down and look over at Lisa. “Lisa, double time it, let’s at least beat these punks to the Staging Area!”

Everyone immediately buttons up. The convoy of tanks rushes past into the city.

Funny thing about Tankery, it’s almost an international pastime, and it’s no different in Morocco. You’re given a police escort through the city, and as you pass, you see signs in Moroccan, French, and English, all advertising venues for watching the Lafayette vs. Heinlein match. People wave and cheer you as you roll on by, and you politely wave back at them.

However, there’s no time to stop. You arrive at the staging area, a small field outside the city limits near the planned Battlefield. All of your tanks are lined up, waiting for Heinlein to show up. The judges have also arrived, standing at attention.

> Talk to the judges

“Good morning, Judges.” You offer your hand to them, which all three of them shake. “Gertrude Pool, Lafayette Girls Academy Tankery Captain.”

They all nod.

“Remi Takashima.”

“Hibiki Inatomi.”

“Kanon Sasogawa.”

You nod, smiling. “It’s nice to meet all of you. Thanks for presiding over the match, it really means a lot considering we’re a pretty new team to this Tankery business.”

Kanon smiles. “Oh, it’s nothing. The life of a Judge demands we travel, this is no different.”

“So, how many tanks are we allowed to bring to this match?”

Remi says, “The minimum today will be Six. Heinlein will arrive and select six, while presumably you all will use these six tanks you brought.”

You nod. “Alright, thank you.” They all nod at you, and with that you return to your crews.

Kitten has finally awoken herself and is turned out in the co-driver hatch. “So, tanks huh.”

You nod, smiling a little. “Yeah. Tanks.” Everyone starts going quiet, and you look over curiously, only to see on the horizon your opponent in the match.

Robert A. Heinlein.

All of their tanks have arrived, in a neat V-formation. They are all painted olive drab, with naught but the RHMA Sigil denoting them as Heinlein Academy property. They all stop across your tanks, and their crews start dismounting.

One of them walks over, a blonde girl your height, clad in her grey Tankery Uniform. She smiles and offers her hand. “You must be Gertrude Pool. ‘Ace’ Levy, nice to finally meet you.”

Ace nods, grinning. “Ah, it’s no trouble at all. Tankery is Tankery, shells are shells, Panzer vor means Panzer vor, all that stuff I declare. I suppose y’all want a match history to get into that World Tournament.”

You nod. “Well, yeah.”

“We’re here to oblige you then.” Ace puts crosses her hands her hips, seemingly trying to suppress a laugh. “Gotta admit,” she looks over at all the tanks, the Yellow and black KV-1S and the Polish flag Stuart for starters. “All y’all are braver than I take for you.”

You shrug. “Well, gotta work with what you got.”

She laughs, slapping your back. “Understandable! Anyway, we’ll give y’all an even fight.” She looks back at her dismounted crews. “Dizzy! Red! Round up the trainees!” she shouts.

With that, all the tank commanders line up in front of their tanks.

“I think we’ll be fine, Lisa. Just everyone pull it together and don’t lose your cool.”

With that, you arrive at the starting position. You turn out the hatch and observe the skies, waiting for the starting flare. You say over the radio, “Alright everyone. Remember the plan. We all head to the Hill, the Churchill and the SU-122 take the western side while the rest of us take the southern. The Stuart will split off from us and try to lure them into our killzone. Everything goes as planned, we have this in the bag, understood?”

Everyone shouts, “Yes!”

You lean back, biting your lip. Then a flare burst out from the woods and explodes brilliantly in the sky.

The judges over your radio say, “Begin!”

All of your tanks begin moving forward as planned.

> Proceed as planned

Plan’s fine so far, you stay turned out as your tanks rush through the little town and out onto the hill. You keep your binocs up and eyes glued to the lenses, you don’t want any mistakes here.

“This is Team Wojtek! We’re about to meet up with the enemy!”

You say, “Roger, Wojtek. Remember, just get their attention and run. Don’t try and fight.”

“Got it, you can count on us!”

In good time, all of your tanks arrive at the hill, with the Churchill and the SU-122 digging on the West side and your tanks digging in on the southernmost side.

Now just comes the waiting. You drum your fingers on the turret top, leaning back. Next to you, Marina has turned out in the KV-1S, looking out with her own set of binocs. Everyone appears more or less focused. That’s good, that’s what you need, focus.

You hear some far off booms to the west. You bring up your binoculars, sure enough, you can see the Stuart, in all it’s white and red glory racing towards you. You can also see Heinlein’s tanks coming after at it, firing shot after shot and missing.

You count the tanks. The two Jumbos, the two Easy 8s, and even the Elite Chaffee. The 105 appears to be missing.

You think, where could that 105 be… perhaps it’s coming around to flank you. But where? You quickly remember the road to your north isn’t secure as you think it is.

You button up and shout at Nancy, “Nancy, get ready to fire once they’re in range.” You look down at Kitten. “Kitten, let everyone know they’re about to come into our zone.”

“Righto!” says Kitten. She quickly relays your orders to the other teams.

“On my mark, get ready to fire.” The tanks start closing in, over a kilometer away and closing. Now about 950… 900… “Fire!”

Every gun you have fires. Some of them splash short, but some manage to impact the Jumbos, barely scratching them. They immediately turn their turrets at you, then turn to come at you in formation. The Jumbos first, then the E8s, then the Chaffee.

Have the Stuart or Somua hunt down the lone 105 via P3028.
Their guns won't do much against the Jumbos and E8s here, so it might be better to tie down or disable the 105 with a track shot.

“None of our shots are putting any holes in them!”

True to Cathy’s word, the Jumbos are getting a lot of nasty scratches but no penetrating shots. Any shots that fly over them are absorbed by the E8’s cast turret armor or simply bite dirt. You grit your teeth, those Jumbos are OP as fuck.

They begin climbing the hill, slowly and steadily.

The SU-122 fires a shot, slamming into the side of an E8, and they are rewarded with a little white flag.

“Lisa, take us behind the crest of the hill!” You look down at Kitten. “Kitten, tell Anna and Marina to reverse behind the crest! We’re gonna turn around take down that 105!”

The KV-1S, the Sherman, and the SOMUA S35 begin reversing. The shots from the Jumbo, the E8, and the Chaffee have stopped. All of you traverse your tanks around and meet the 105, which begins backing up, firing another shot you. It misses again.

It's fast, so it's probably lightly armored. Get one or two of our group to box it in, and a third to pull RAMMING SPEED on its ass.

> Retreat to the town

“Everyone! Make for the town!” Everyone but the Churchill immediately begins orienting to the town.

Marina shouts, “We’ll hold them for as long as we can!”

A shot slams into the KV-1S’s rear, popping the white flag.

“Well, that wasn’t long,” says Jenny.

The Chaffee performs a flawless Nishizumi Hook around the SU-122 as well, putting a shot into the weak side armor, and popping a white flag.

“We’re done for!” shouts Samantha.

“They’re killing us!” screams Cathy.

By now, the Shermans have started cresting the hill. They begin setting sights on the Churchill, blasting it with everything they’ve got, blasting several road wheels apart.

“THIS ISN’T FAIR AT ALL!” screams Tara.

With that, you, the SOMUA, and the Stuart make for the town. To your great relief, the Shermans don’t follow you.

To your utter horror, the Chaffee is, and it’s pulling every which away to dodge shots from the SOMUA and the Stuart.

You’re definitely not going to outrun a Chaffee but at least the suppressive fire is slowing her down. You reach the main road of the town, then enter it proper.

“This is Cathy! They finally got us!”

The Sherman takes a left and into an alley. You look behind yourself, and sure enough, the Chaffee’s gone.

You consider the situation. One: You have three tanks left against their four. Two: An Elite Chaffee is not alone with you, you’re alone with an Elite Chaffee. It’s going to take some serious cunning to try and pull this one off.

You predict that the Shermans will arrive just five minutes or so, that leaves you with enough time to get yourself into a good place to ambush the other tanks. The Sherman chugs out of the alleyway out and into the street.

“Anna, Janek, find some place to hide. We’re going to start dancing circles around these Shermans, you got it?”

“Loud and clear!” says Janek.

“Got it!” says Anna.

Using your own intuition, the Sherman plonks itself in a narrow alley between two restaurants. Now you wait for either the Chaffee or a Sherman. You tug at your shirt collar, you just now realized you’re sweating bullets. You now hear a loud engine over your own engine noise. You peer through the periscope, and yep, that’s an E8 coming up the street and into your sights.

“Nancy, hit him.”

A hole is blasted into the building, only enough to blast a hole into the building but not the other side. Whatever.

“Keep going!”

The Sherman squeezes itself into the building, brick and mortar falling apart all around.

Lisa asks nervously, “Uh, Boss, what’s going on out there?”

“Eh…” you say as a pile of bricks worryingly bang against the turret top. “Nothing.”

The Sherman bursts out the other side of the building, sending that particular section collapsing in on itself.

“Got it!”

You pull out your map of the town and start tracking Janek’s position as she gives you a play-by-play of which streets she’s headed down. The Sherman moves fast, you worry about the suspension a little, it might break down if you stress it too hard.

You arrive at a courtyard, wide and very open. “They should be coming up here any sec-“

The Stuart races past you.

“Oh, there they are.”

The Stuart turns away from you and starts heading up the courtyard. Immediately afterwards the Chaffee comes in, taking a shot and hitting their turret with a very unsatisfying explosion. Surprisingly, there’s no white flag.

Everyone screams the armor buckles from the shot. You hold on, waiting for the Judging system to call it.

Huh?

Hm, you thought for sure that was a killing shot. Suddenly, the tank shakes again, causing everyone to yelp in surprise. You look out the periscope, and sure enough, the Chaffee has rammed you.

“Nancy! Ramirez! Asses and elbows come on!”

The both of them recover, and Ramirez loads a new round in.

The Chaffee backs up, giving way for the Stuart to come barreling past and crash into the building. The Chaffee finishes it off with a single shot to the engine block.

“Now, I know what you’re thinking, ‘we all suck’. That’s not true. We came within an inch of winning that match, against trained Tankery practitioners. Even the Heinlein girls agreed, we gave them hell, and they respect us for that. Sure, some of us might not have scored a kill, but what matters is what we’ve accomplished as a team, and that’s the most important thing in Tankery, teamwork.” You sigh. “I’m proud of you. All of you. If you’re thinking of quitting Tankery, don’t. I want to keep doing it, with all of you.”

Janek pumps her fist into the air. “Let’s hear it for Gertrude!”

“Hurrah!”

> + 10 MORALE

You arrive at the restaurant. Shawarma place actually. You saw it on the way here and you figured, why not. All of you disembark and enter the restaurant. Some of the patrons recognize the girls, and immediately begin applauding and whistling in appreciation and excitement.

“Hey! Hey!” The chef of the place. “You girls, you fight girls in the big ship! You lose, yes, but tell you what, you eat here free!”

“Thanks, Mister!”

Everyone begins setting down at their tables and ordering. The Shawarma starts pouring out by the dozens.

I have some questions before this thread 404's
Because there are academy ships from different countries and the sport is Japanese. Does that mean the students are bilingual, where they speak Japanese as the common language, and their own home country language?
Or
Do they only speak Japanese?
>>
>>28589670
Lafayette GA is an American school that now practices Tankery, that does not mean they all suddenly know how to speak Japanese.

Likewise, Ooarai Girls Academy is a Japanese school but not all of them know how to speak English.

I'm playing it realistically to an extent, which is funny considering everything else.
>>
>>28589670
I don't think the sports Japanese.

Historically, it should be European, with the Monte Carlo rally.
>>
>>28589616
I hope in the tournament we face the Italian equivalent in Girls und Panzer.

Also while in Shore leave, I think we should take this time to catch up on some quests
>>
>>28589692
I was just wondering how it works considering in the anime the different schools seem to have no problem conversing with each other. I assumed the schools spoke a common language as well as their own as Miho would use German words, and Nonna would sing in Russian.
>>
>>28589630
Always a pleasure Schteel.
Hope your family member gets better.
>>
>>28589810
That's because hilariously, they're just Japanese schoolgirls aping the Japanese stereotypes of the various nations.
>>
>>28589759
>catch up on some quests
Indeed.

We gotta approach the Animation Club.
Then there's Octavia still needing more actors for the play (not to mention get the money back which Fredendall took).
Then there's the 20th century civil war paper we need to get an A+ in to get the History Club on board with us in tankery.
And of course, homecoming.
>>
>>28589630
my prayers will be with you and yours.
>>
>>28589827
True. All those schools competed in a NATIONAL tournament.
The international tournament, if ever touched upon in canon, will more than likely be HUGE, with hundreds if not thousands of teams.
>>
>>28590057
>Thousands of teams
>Thousands of the Carrier Academies.

That's just... WHERE WOULD WE EVEN FIT THEM ALL?!
>>
>>28590057
>>28589827

Okay. I understand now. That's kind of weird, I can see a funny scenario of an American team boarding the Saunder's ship and finding it some weird alternate universe where Japan won WWII and you have American Students speaking Japanese.
>>
>>28589867
Well we should at least see what the Animation club's problem is and I doubt we can settle this on a single day so we can use the rest of the day to focus on finishing our history paper.

I wonder if anyone else will sponsor us

Also german what perks would we get if we had won?
>>28590057

Think we'll face oorai in the international tournament?
>>
>>28590081
Some of the schools would have to be land-based. I remember a mention of them in the anime, but the line referring to them implied there were no longer land-based, and they were all carrier-based.
So, the jury's still out on that one.

This quest, by far the most canon of the two, acknowledges them (Trude and I think Kitten went to one before going to Lafayette), so they exist.

>>28590098
>facing Ooarai
That's a worrying prospect. We should stock up on plot-armor piercing rounds.
>>

I bet everyone thinks they are the same thing as the other Animation club, the ones that traumatised Nancy. We ourselves thought that until Schteel told us they are different.

Or they're getting applications from people that would better fit the other club.

Grouser kits extend the width of the tracks. These were used a lot on American tanks.
The Bulldozer would be useful for creating hides and the hedge cutters i assume is for going through hedges.
It seems trivial for a hedge to stop a tank, but in the Bocage they had a tendency to wrap around the axles.
>>
>>28590235
Senshado canonically was always team combat. The primary difference was what level of convertibility was allowed. Japanese Senshado was extremely strict, only time period vehicles allowed.

American Senshado was much more lax and allowed any conversion so long as the chassis was still the same.

European variant was somewhere in the middle.
>>
>>28590284
And we don't see Male teams because Senshado is typified as a female sport?
>>

Pretty much.

It had to do with the men being too hotblooded in the midst of battle.

I'm not sure if this is canonical, (too much fun times on /a/) but male crews may have physically assaulted other crews.

Construction kits allow you to build tanks or convert a tank to another based off that tank.
For example, we have a SU-122, which is a SU-85 armed with a 122mm howitzer. The SU-85 is based off the T-34. With a conversion kit we can transform our SU-122 to a T-34, and viceversa.

True. There are references to a Sherman being modified to use an M1 Abrams gun and I think engine.
European tank sports is actually more racing than fighting.

Sort of.

Is the modified Sherman discussed in the manga?

The fuck? Would a Rheinmetall L44 even fit in a sherman turret?
>>
>>28590579
No. I think it's in the extra materials that also detail sensha-do history, city-carrier history and other things.

>>28590619
No. Then again, American ingenuity.

What does extending the width do?
>>
>>28590704
Prevents the tank from sinking in soft terrain, like sand.
>>
>>28590747
That sounds useful, we might need to outfit them later when we hit desert or snow.
>>
>>28590747
By the way do you think we should turn the su-122 to the t-34?
>>
>>28590917
Hell yes. The 122mm howitzer was meant for bombardment, not direct combat.
Besides, a vehicle with a turret is more tactically flexible than a vehicle without.

The Rifle team also thought a case mate tank made them feel naked so I think converting them to a turreted tank will be a good idea.

Also it's relatively cheap.

We should also sell the GMC while we're at it or get prices.

What shall we do first in our vacation?

Make that play a success.
Make the Ace team leave the past behind.
Make that girl join the Animation club.
Get O'Hara out of the closet.
Get money.
Kitten.

>and namoori
No, captcha, we don't need the author of YuruYuri.

The latter three I'm not so sure about.

I think we need to do the animation girl first while finding recruits

Should have realized that when I typed that.

can we up the 75mm to the 76mm in our sherman?
>>

I don't see why not.
