>What is this?

Saiyan Story is a series of Choose Your Own Adventure threads in which you play the part of a saiyan warrior. Decisions are made by voting, with the first option to gain three votes winning.

>Recap
After an intense sparing match with Fita, you visited Gohan, and returned his dragon ball. While visiting, you realized that the saiyan infant Gohan is raising, Goku, is Bardock's son. You told Gohan about Goku's father, and asked if you could stop by and check up on Goku every once in a while. He agreed, and you left, heading back to Capsule Corp. There, you briefly watched television with the girls before going and teaching the Sampan children how to fly. They proved to be excellent learners, and as a reward, you took them out for ice cream. You dropped them back off at Capsule Corp, spoke with Doctor Briefs, and travelled to Kami's lookout. After an unsettling encounter with Mr. Popo, you spoke with Kami, and the two of you discussed how different your recent actions have been from those of a normal saiyan. You admitted to him that recent events have put things in perspective, and that while you still want to kill Frieza, beyond that you have no real desire to kill. Kami, pleased by this, offered to train you. You accepted, and Kami is ready to begin.

Kama watches you from the doorway. His face, which a moment ago was smiling and easy, is now hard and serious. You suddenly get the feeling that his training is going to be anything but easy, and you wonder what exactly he could do that would be difficult for someone as you to handle.

"I hope you understand this is going to be no walk in the park" Kami tells you. "This training is serious, and is meant to test you in every conceivable way. Few have received my training, even fewer have survived it. So, I am offering you one chance to back out."

"If I backed out when things got hard, I wouldn't be a Saiyan" you tell him.

Kami nods. "Very well then, follow me."

Without waiting, he turns and exits the room. You follow, and the two of you walk down a long hallway, with countless doors on each side. You find yourself a bit curious as to what's in them all, but you continue to follow Kami. He suddenly turns and leads you down a long flight of stairs, and then down another hallway. Finally, near the end of the hall, he turns and opens one of the door, stepping inside. Entering after him, you find yourself in a massive, dark room. A pendulum is swinging back and forth across it, and you hear a constant ticking, as if you are standing in a giant clock.

"This is where the majority of your training shall take place" he tells you.

Suddenly, there is a bright flash of light, and you are no longer in the room. In fact, you are no longer on the lookout. You aren't even sure if you are on the same planet. You stand in the middle of a barren landscape, which seems to stretch on for miles in thee directions. In the fourth direction, you can just make out a large city.

You decide that it is likely a smart idea to sense for power levels before making any decisions. Closing your eyes, you stretch out with your senses as you have done so many times before. The city, you sense, is absolutely bustling with activity. You sense thousands of small power levels, people going about their lives and seeing to their various businesses. In the desert, you sense a much smaller group of power levels, though these ones feel far stronger.

Opening your eyes, you look deeper into the city, then towards the desert. You think things over for a moment before making up your mind.

You decide to visit the city first. Lifting off the ground, you soar over the barren landscape until you reach the sprawling metropolis. Landing in front of the largest building in the city, some things immediately strike you as odd.

The people are looking at you with confusion and terror. Though, you are used to that reaction, so it isn't exactly new or jarring. What does strike you as odd is that they look human, but they're all carrying guns and wearing what appear to be scouters. You see a small group of them, these ones wearing armor, approaching you. They stop just a few feet away, guns leveled at you, while one continues towards you.

"A saiyan all alone?" he asks. "Why have you come here? Do you really expect to destroy us all by yourself?"

You have no idea what this man is talking about, but you can practically feel his rage and...fear. This man is absolutely livid, but also absolutely terrified.

He throws back his head and laughs. "Is that a fact? And how exactly were you off planet? Everybody knows saiyans aren't smart enough for space travel. But, hey, I'll humor you. Your people, the saiyans, have lived here with my people, the Tuffles, for many many years. Recently, your people have been launching unprovoked attacks against us. Two of our cities lie in ruins, and we've lost thousands of people. Two of your villages are gone, and you've lost dozens of your people. Considering how small your population is, that is not good for you. Now, I don't know why you're here, but I want you out of my city right now, or my men and I will have something to say about it."

He snorts "Diplomacy? That's new from one of your species. Very well, go and speak to these other saiyans, see what you can find out. Their king lives in a large village hundreds of miles from here. Speak with him."

You close your eyes and focus, trying to pinpoint the largest power level on this world. It would be logical to assume that the saiyans are led by the strongest among them, after all. You sense a large power about where the man suggested you would, roughly a hundred miles away. Shooting into the sky, you fly there as fast as you can. You pass over a few smaller villages on the way there, and you notice that the saiyans in them look different then you would expect. In general they are larger and more hulking, with even the women looking more tall and muscular.

Eventually, you reach the village where you sensed the largest power level. The power is coming from, surprise surprise, the largest hut in the village. Two large warriors stand in front of it.

The first one chuckles "You have spirit runt, I'll give you that. Fine, you may pass, let the king be your judge."

"I think he will enjoy crushing the life out of you and destroying your spirit" the second guard tells you.

You stroll past them and into the hut. It's no more impressive on the inside than it is on the outside. Honestly, it reminds you of the king's hut on the first planet you visited after joining Salta's team. Seated on the throne in its center is a massive saiyan warrior with tall, spikey hair. He sighs, looking you over for a moment, then pausing, as if going over something in his head. Finally, he nods at you.

"Very well, I will tell you why we are at war with the pitiful Tuffles" he tells you. "Our people have inhabited the harshest and most deadly parts of this planet for generations. This has made us stronger, but it has limited our capacity for development. One can hardly build a respectable civilization in a climate such as this. And so, we sought to negotiate with the Tuffles in order to gain land and technology." He growls. "The Tuffles have always looked down on us Saiyans, and they laughed at our requests. They told us we had nothing to trade them, and that if we wished to acquire any land or technology, we would have to buy it from them. They told us our warriors could work for them, but the jobs they offered were little more than menial labor, and the wages next to nothing. They would not allow us to take what we wanted, what we needed. And so, we are taking it by force." He looks at you, tilting his head to the side. "I find it odd that you are unaware of these events. Still, you are a saiyan. As such, you have a duty to serve your king, and lay waste to the Tuffle dogs!"

Well, now you got a Saiyan who is talking to you and who is more than willing to see this war end without anymore deaths. I talked to other Saiyans, and got their king to voice their collective concerns, and came out of it in one piece.

I can be your mediator and diplomat on behalf of the Tuffles while being familiar enough with Saiyan culture to know how to steer things in favor of the Tuffles while letting the Saiyans think that they've got you by the balls. My people need technology to develop, their lands are incredibly hostile and it has led to their aggressive disposition.

You are at least aware of the Saiyans code of honor yes?

"Did your negotiators call them stupid apes as well? Look, I'm not trying to insult your people, but the Saiyans are a race of prideful warriors - if you insult them, they will respond violently" you tell him, getting really, REALLY tired of his attitude. "I CAN talk to them in a language of honor that they will trust and respect - let me act as a cultural translator for you people, and perhaps no more Truffle sons will lose their fathers."

He shakes his head, his stubbornness on this quite frankly astounding. He turns up his nose and tells you in an extremely condescending tone "No, the time for trying to be civilized with these apes has long since passed. They have brought war upon themselves in their own foolish ignorance, and now they will die for it. And we have no reason to feel guilty for putting down a bunch of flee-ridden, shit-throwing, disease-carrying animals! I'm going to take great pleasure in slaughtering them, every last one of those miserable parasites that think themselves superior to us. They should have been content to spend their lives rolling around in the dirt, but they got greedy, it's to be expected of creatures with such an astoundingly low mental capacity. Frankly, I'm amazed that YOU are capable of holding a conversation, albeit a rather childish and ignorant one. It seems even the smartest of your race possess the mental faculties of a five year old of our race. Still, you should be proud. A monkey that can figure out how a door functions is pretty impressive, just as a saiyan that can use words with more than two syllables is amazing. If all of your race was like you, perhaps we'd be content to let you scrub out feet or something. But all of your pathetic inbred kind out there deserve to be murdered like the filthy mongrels they are, and I look forward to doing exactly that."

Perhaps we could act as a psychic go between between him and the king, that they may both experience the other's position or perspective, after we've successfully read his mind.

We already have a position on Saiyan Culture as we had lived in it under Freiza was, not the best it could have been.

You sigh and close your eyes, stretching out and touching his mind. Images and feelings swirl around before you, and you are able to clarify them rather easily. You feel a deep-rooted prejudice that has been within him nearly his entire life, you feel fear, accompanying a vision of saiyan warriors laying waste to a city, slaughtering any Tuffles who stand in their way.

You get a more coherent vision after a moment. He is standing in front of another Tuffle who looks nearly identical to him. They are speaking, but you're not able to make out what they are saying. The scene shifts, and you see him running to the edge of the town, looking on in horror as the mangled body of the other Tuffle is carried away.

You see how he views the saiyans, animals running out of control, an infestation that needs to be eradicated. You begin to ease your way out of his mind, and you begin to hear what he is currently thinking.

"This idiotic monkey is really trying my patience. Why is he talking to me? Why is he not leaving? He should consider himself lucky I am lowering myself to speak with him."

Finally, you remove yourself completely from his mind and open your eyes to find him glaring at you.

"What are you doing?" he asks. "You should at least have the decency to stay awake, or is having a conversation to taxing on your tiny brain?"

Yeah okay, they're gonna listen to an inbred monkey over their king? They're gonna overthrow their king at a saiyan's request? Fat chance.

Our best bet now is to go help Vegeta pound the Tuffles into submission, take them down a notch, then reopen negotiations when they realize they're inferior.
>>
Alright, time to try and see if we can get the Tuffle leader to admit something in person, among all his subjects. Maybe with something along the lines of: "No, I've been thinking on things, even if you don't think Saiyans can do that. Now I've got a question for you: Did you lose someone dear to you in the war? Because I know how it feels to lose someone in the war. But all this hatred, and making war will not bring that person back. I'm giving you an opportunity for diplomacy without you even having to approach those you speak of so poorly. Those of my own race. You're not going to accept that?"

Not sure if that works, though. Could probably use retweaking or being made more brief.

Alternatively:
He's their leader, right?

He's their leader, isn't he?

I propose that, if we can take blasts from their weapons, or, if we can disarm them all -say via a flurry of ki shots, or words- we grab the leader.

"Do you truly agree with this man, who has insulted the saiyan race with every word he says? When I attempt diplomacy, despite all the insults, and haven't made a single attempt to harm you, despite how the rest of my kind have acted? If you all truly disagree with him enough, and wish for better terms with the saiyans, you can remove him from power, instead of trying to destroy your saiyan neighbours. No one has to get hurt."

Note that, this works better if we get rid of their weapons first, IMO; They can't attack us without them, then, so long as we fly out of melee range, and we'll have proved a single saiyan can easily make their efforts futile, meaning war could seem like a bad idea.

This seems to throw him off-balance for a moment. Confusion becomes rather evident on his face. Clearly, he wonders how you knew that, but can't seem to come up with a reasonable explanation. He regains his composure in a few moments, and smirks.

"Not people" he tells you. "Animals. The rabid dogs, their bitches and pups, all of them are going to die, and believe me when I tell you that NOTHING will make me happier."

You reached a decision. Time to kill this guy. You don't think you have ever met somebody who infuriated you quite so much, other than perhaps Frieza, who you technically have not met. The rage is boiling inside of you, it must be unleashed. You stop and think, how to go about this? Quick death, perhaps? Squash him quickly and show how weak he is? A slow, brutal death where you make him suffer and display your powers? Will his mean live or die? What of this city?

Aren't we still in a test to better ourselves, in terms of discipline and intelligence?

I'm very sure killing them isn't the answer.

Since that doesn't seem like an option, we could try putting our hands literally behind our back, turn our back to them, and ask them to drop their weapons, in the hopes that they're good enough to consider our personal sacrifice and not shoot us -and since we seem to have been sent to a superpowered version of the past, they /could/ kill us- and instead be willing to speak without consideration for their really racist leader.

The other alternatives I can think of are the intimidation tactic of forcefully disarming them, taking their leader hostage via flight, then asking them to speak.

With any hope, they'll not want to attack after seeing 1 Saiyan disarm them all, and by not killing them, we'll prove we're not some mindless savage, despite that he's insulted us constantly throughout our attempts at diplomacy. It may also help to point out those things.
Then maybe we can get his subordinate(s) to voice their feelings unimpaired.

I doubt he'll let us speak to his subordinates without some force, but we don't need to kill him to shut him up.

Alternatively, we could just leave. Maybe try and figure out what happened to the tuffle ambassadors they sent, and why they were killed, if the saiyans sought diplomacy. Try to learn if the Ambassadors gave the same terms as this guy, and maybe see if we can get Saiyan Ambassadors.

Another option would be to try and find the suffering of the saiyans here so we can project that into his mind. Force sympathy.

For now, though, I vote F or G; Don't kill him, and do something else.

We could also try leaving -badass words or not-, and then attempting to covertly use our saiyan psychic powers to drive the leader insane so that he'll get overthrown. But I don't know if he represents his people or not, nor if Frank has the capacity for that.

The fuck?

Okay, I don't want the updates to end. I'm mostly in favor of killing the guy, but I understand leaving and letting the guy live. If the majority of people say let him live, then let him live. We should probably talk to King Vegeta after leaving so we find out what happened to the "negotiators" the tuffles sent, like an anon suggested earlier.
>>
>>28625465

Holy shit, guize.

This is the solution.

We need to leave immediately, and then declare to the Tuffles that the Saiyans will ONLY DEFEND THEMSELVES FROM TUFFLE AGGRESSION.

This immediately paints the Tuffle King as the insane genocidal dick that he really is - all deaths will be directly attributable to him. Keep killing the Tuffles he sends at us until the Tuffle people realize that the slaughter is needless and they depose King Fuckface themselves.

Like many anons have said, it's not about the outcome. It's about our effort and discipline not to succumb to frustration or anger or rage.

It is a basic test to determine how committed we are going to be to Kami's teachings.
>>
>>28625552
>>28625560

King Vegeta has been pretty malleable previously and just telling him that we should sit and wait for the weakling Tuffles to assault should appeal to his Saiyan pride.

Meanwhile, King Truffle is apparently insane and cannot resist a chance to kill a monkey, so we wouldn't have to wait long.

You calm yourself, just a bit. You want to shut this fool's mouth, but you won't kill him. Doing that might simply prove him right and make the situation worse. Instead, you move behind him and deliver a quick hit to the back of his neck. He slumps forward and falls to the ground, unconscious.

His men react quickly, firing their weapons. Energy blasts shoot from them and strike all over your body. They sting, but do no real damage.

Tell them that their guns are useless, but you have no intention of killing anyone. Tell them to cease fire and listen to what you have to say. Tell them that you spared their leader because you do not wish for death and bloodshed; death only brings rage and grief, the harbingers of vengeance.

Tell them the only way to end the circle of vengance is to work with you and commit to negotiating with the saiyans. Convince them that you will handle negotiation with them, and tell them that a peaceful option ensures a better outcome for both parties, the weak and defenseless Tuffles, and the starving, lowly Saiyans.

Because one day, you tell them, an outside force will take advantage of those weaknesses and destroy you. You are here to prevent that.

You try to convince them that vengeance will lead to destruction, and offer to negotiate with the saiyans for them, and try your hardest for peace. You agree, and the two of you exit the room, walking down the hall side by side. Kami says nothing for a very long moment, and part of you worries that he's thinking on how best to dismiss you from training. But, that can't be right. You didn't mess anything up that badly...did you?

"Tell me" Kami asks you, finally speaking. "What did you learn from that experience?"

>A. Say something

>B. Nothing

>C. You aren't sure

"That sometimes people are too bullheaded to listen to reason?"
>>
Last update for tonight guys, we're gonna 404 soon. Next update should start between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM tomorrow. Any questions?
>>
>>28626677
A. That reckless violence is not the answer to all problems, but neither is reckless pacifism. Rather, discipline in strength, and intelligence in peace, is the key to solving problems that seem unsolvable.
>>
>>28626677
You cannot save everybody everywhere
>>
>>28626713
Yeah, why did you include the 'hur dur 360 wlk awy' bullshit. You can tell the difference between actual votes and poor trolling, right?
>>
>>28626720
this.
>>
>>28626761
Somnius has as much chance of ignoring my troll choices as he does of ignoring my girth.

Hint: Both cases are 0%

>>28626803
Party? Is that you?

"That sometimes people are too bullheaded to listen to reason?" you suggest.

Kami chuckles. "True, anything else?"

"That reckless violence is not the answer to all problems, but neither is reckless pacifism. Rather, discipline in strength, and intelligence in peace, is the key to solving problems that seem unsolvable" you tell him.

He smiles. "Now that is a good answer. You have learned a valuable lesson. Balance is power. Do not be to quick to jump to violence, but do not be too slow to take action when it is needed. Discipline, strength, peace, intelligence, as you said, are all intertwined. Recklessness, be it violence or pacifism, is ultimately destructive. You have learned well. I had hoped you would learn other lessons, but we can discuss them later. For now, you might wish to know that a few moments after you entered the chamber, I received word that your wife was going into labor. You might want to see to that." With that, he returns to his throneroom.

End update

I've gotta ask why did the girls get kami's training without all the bullshit. Seriously at least SOME kind of explanation for it.
>>
>>28626829
Because we are the chosen one.
>>
>>28626761
I thought it would be funny

>>28626829
They were getting basic training, you're getting full training
>>
>>28626818
I'm sorry everyone.
I've gone too far.
>>
>>28626850
Basic training that doubled their power in what about half a day? Seems far fetched but oh well.
>>
>>28626886
They trained for several days
>>
>>28626897

Did Frank's wife get resurrected with the Dragon Balls? I've missed multiple sessions, and I don't know if we have archives or not.
>>
>>28626826
well the time has come, finally.

So, what are we gonna name our kid?
>>
>>28626850
Well it was not. So what's everyones power level?
>>
>>28626886
There IS a time chamber, you know.

You: 42,000
Salta: 39,000
Spina: 40,000
Fita: 41,000

>>28626920
Up to you

>>28626938
You seem nervous anon

>>28626958
Uh...thanks? I think that was a compliment.
>>
>>28626920
Relish
>>
>>28626938
we shall call him bratwurst
or taco if its female
>>
catching up from a few days ago here -
if we stick around on earth, I urge anons to fight others at their own power level while training.
We kept getting wrecked when sparring against the girls because our technique isn't up to snuff, and fighting at a suppressed power level should help Frank with relying less on his massive power level.
>>
>>28627154

This is actually a really great idea and one we haven't explored.

Handicapping ourself before fighting to ensure better technique is a great plan.
>>
If we have a daughter with Spina, we should name her Bacon.
>>
>>28626920
Depends on whether it's a boy or a girl?

Seriously, let's just cross that bridge when we get to it.
>>
>>28627241
It has to be some kind of play on words. QM kinda messed up at the very beginning by naming us Frank as if our name wasn't important, and missed the chance at naming us something that is a vegetable-related pun like every other saiyan.
But I'm content with sausage-related puns. We can go with either when naming our progeny.
>>
>>28627534
So Link would be a good name for a son?
>>
We could name it super kami
>>
>>28627534
I didn't name you guys, you agreed on a name yourselves
>>
>>28627582
No, wait. Super Kami Guru
>>
>>28627611
Well shit. That seems like kind of a wasted opportunity then.
>>
How about Sausa? Like sausage but sounds like Salta too.
