The Location: The Norinco Corporation is responsible for building and supplying the NEG with much of it's artillery and explosives. They also supply rail-gun weaponry at good prices to security firms, corporate security, and other non-military organizations that are in volatile or high-risk areas. They are a secret subsidiary of the Chrysalis Corporation. The production facility in Detroit is a typical mass nano-factory production line with an excellent track record and no externally noted issues.

The Problem: The Norinco Production Facility in Detroit is being used to supply the local Home Defense Forces with brand new equipment, from ceramic close combat gear to standard firearms to man-portable rail-gun weaponry. Though the general testing of the equipment is fine, the programs used in the nano-factories have a new and illegally added planned obsolescence function which has been added to more than eighty percent of the good manufactured. While the equipment will work under most circumstances, at a specified time a tiny pocket of delayed activation nanites will reactivate and damage the equipment in any one of dozens of manners, leading to catastrophic failures. The reason this is important is that there is a ceremonial summoning planned at the new moon in five days which will summon a very powerful supernatural being in the arcology and leave it uncontrolled and rampaging through a city full of armed security and soldiers – whose weapons will suddenly break down on a massive scale, leading to a slaughter.

[Con't.]

>>28671945
The Reason: A cadre of Dhohanoids has been placed in the upper echelons of the company, along with a portion of their security. This includes sultry or handsome, and more importantly, distracting vassiamon in quality control and in human resources; several of the serpentine gelgores, froglike elib, and bat-like ramachese in security; a mind controlling jjia-sin-dumash in the Assistant CEO position; and a bestial, disease laden derebrith in maintenance. It is this last that is the most problematic, for reasons to be explained.

The Situation: Because the Dhohanoids are controlling all access to the main facilities, between the jjin-sin-dumesh and the vassiamon most inspectors have not noticed the flawed weaponry or the modified nano-factories, and the humans employed by the company are equally unaware anything is amiss. Should someone become aware of the issue, there is a failsafe: an arcanotech device hidden in the building will release a number of deadly diseases similar to those created by the derebrith throughout the building, killing every Nazzadi and Human in the building. This will give the Dhohanoids time to correct the machinery and deactivate the nanites in the weaponry, which will then undoubtedly be 'lost' and eventually show up in the arsenals of the Rapine Storm, like a great deal of other Nrinco weaponry has in the past. Because the derebrith are immune to their own diseases and are relatively stable, the device is moved at least once a day, making it impossible to kn ow where it is in advance of an assault without infiltration and reconnaissance.

The Solution: Send in a small murder of Tagers. Some will concentrate on locating and removing the device, or disarming it, while others keep the Dhohanoids distracted. Then sabotage the machinery and nano-factories badly enough that it would require a severe overhaul; the tampering will become evident. A second team will be dispatched to try and counter the ritual

[Con't.]
>>
>>28671984
“Ideally, we were planning to have a Whisper locate the device, and a Spectre remove it, while two heavy combat Tagers backed up by two stealth Tagers were the distraction. While putting the machinery out of commission was a secondary goal, eliminating the Dhohanoids will allow the NEG internal security teams to discover the tampering without being hampered.” Loco leans back in his chair, and sighs. “Unfortunately, we needed Gravedigger to retrieve the items that would be used to summon whatever it is that they plan to unleash on Detroit. As a result, while we still have a very good team, it makes the disease-bomb all the more dangerous because we have no way to get someone to it without incident even if we do locate it in time.”

Jakob leans forward. “I have demolitions experience. Arcanotech is still partially tech, so it shouldn't be too difficult to disarm the device. You said it would kill all the humans....what about the Dhohanoids?”

“And us,” pipes up Viss.

Mordecai speaks up. “Supernatural beings will be unaffected by the diseases contained within, derivative of the derebrith as they are. They will not affect you, or the enemy.”

The spymaster continues. “We have uniforms and badges and documentation for two OIS agents. The basic documentation such as name, gender, race, and so on can be changed quickly, but since they are not Restricted Tech Enforcement, Fraud Investigations Division, or another Federal group that would be interested in the nano-factories or the faulty weaponry, it will put the Dhohanoids on high alert. We've arranged a plant in the factory, someone who has falsified sorcerous rituals on a PDA we supplied as well, which you could use as part of the ruse.” He gestures to the screen, and points out the files in question.

At this point Loco speaks up. “Since this is now your murder, Firefly, you may chose to change the plans as you wish, as well as assign duties to your comrades as you see fit. If we had Whispers or Spectres to spare, this would have been a much easier task, but between the time limit and the simple lack of specialists, we are relying on you.”

Geolai the Loremistress folds her hands together. “It is a blessing of the Forgotten Ones that your pack is grouped as it is, Firefly.”

“Which is not to say we didn't have tasks suited to you otherwise, but this ~is~ something your particular murder is well suited towards,” Farsight points out.

The plan seems okay, we just need to somehow detect the bomb before the operation begins to get a head start.
Would they be able to detect a Whisper from far away? And how far can Viss see using her Tager powers?

We can check the other two questions if we have time.

“You seem to have covered all of the most important points. I can't think of too many things that need more detail save the logistics of who goes where – except for the obvious choice.” Rechert would make perfect backup for the 'agents' with his ability to become utterly undetectable as long as he did not engage the enemy or rush around. “what else can you give us in terms of equipment?”

“In addition to the uniforms, we can give you some basic body armor to go along with it as well as some hand held weaponry. The OIS is unaware of this, of course, but we do have hacks in place for a basic identification check. As long as they think you're after someone other than a Dhohanoid, they should co-operate.” Radessi glances around the table. “Obviously, Rechert – sorry, Lucky – would be ideally suited as backup for the 'agents' due to his invisibility. Otherwise, we have no set plans for whom does what – we weren't sure what kind of group we would have.”

You nod, understanding the problem, and mildly annoyed that he repeats your own thought process – you're no idiot. Yen would have been a great help, however, burn him for disintegrating on you. “What is our time frame like?”

[Con't.]
>>
>>28672329
Towern leans back and taps on the folder in front of him. “We had hoped to send you in within a day, but we can hold off as long as two days, sending you in on the third day. In four days they distribute the weapons and equipment. We suspect the summoning cult has no idea they're being used, and after the shipment is sent, there is no way for us to assist the Security Forces except in the most obvious way....which we cannot do.” He looks at you – you specifically – very seriously. “It may be that you are unable to complete the task in a single day, in which case you might be able to go back and try again. It is a large building, and the device will have been moved, but it stands to reason there are only a few places it can be used to it's fullest effect.”

“Also,” Scrivener adds, “we will be attempting to sabotage the ritual. If we can manage that the breakdown of equipment will be embarrassing to Norinco, and undoubtedly begin an investigation but the Children of Chaos not have suffered nearly as severe a setback.”

Radessi nods. “We have to operate on the assumption that the sabotage will fail. If one or the other succeeds, good, if both succeed, better, but we can't take any chances. Too many innocents.”

[Con't.]

Slipt gives Radessi a strangely blank look, which reminds you of her distrust of the Society's spymaster.

Loco looks at his fellow Elders, and receives several head-shakes. “That is all the general information we have on your task. The folders contain blueprints, photographs and names of the five Dhohanoids we have identified for certain, and your basic cover story as well as the man on the inside – who is human and is a friend to the Society, but is not aware of your nature.” He looks at each of the new Tagers in turn, ending with you. “Do you have any further questions?

Radessi looks at you coolly. “We will be unable to send any Tager backup, but we can have up to two teams of Society members to assist in extraction. Unfortunately, the only backup plan we can put together is the attempt to forestall the ritual. There is no time for anything else, and while we set the Reapers of the Whirlwind set to that task you should not expect success at that angle. The Circle is a very dangerous cult and they are undoubtedly expecting interference.”

“Hopefully not from us,” murmurs Jakob, and Irren nods.

Holmes nods. “They're probably expecting OIS, though, and I've heard that the Circle has a lot of power to use. Even if the main ceremony is interrupted, there might be guard monsters to deal with.”

“You'll be introduced to your extraction teams before you leave,” adds Slipt. “We don't want any mistaken identities.”

The rest of your murder seems content, for the moment, with preparing and reading over the information you have on their PDAs and the papers they have access to for the moment.

“In that case, you should eat, rest, and research. Firefly, you will need to let us know who will be the Agents, and if you need anything else. It will take only an hour at most to get extra equipment or devices, but you will need to give us eight hours if you need extra documentation prepared.”

Loco once more takes the lead. “If there is no more, you should rest, and prepare yourselves. Anne, let us know shortly before you are ready to begin and we will arrange everything to be ready.” With that the Elders stand and bow their heads to you, clearly suggesting you are dismissed. Your friends and comrades – your murder – get up, Rechert and Viss already perusing the blueprints, Jakob speaking softly with Irren, and Holmes stretching as the others leave.

[X] Walk out with Holmes.
[X] Catch Rechert's and Viss attention before they wander off too far.

Keeping an eye on Viss and Rechert is fairly easy; not only are they walking out together they're caught up installing files in their PDAs. Holmes notices your look, and glances at them, then looks surprised when you walk up to him. Taking your silent cue, he walks a little slower than Viss and Rechert. The sensation of the mystic defenses of the room sliding around your body is much more acute leaving than entering, and you idly wonder if a Human or Nazzadi would have noticed.

Holmes is a Phantom, one of the most common types of Tager. They are the footsoldiers, the mainstay of battle. With a howl that can shatter eardrums and bring down flying opponents, energy blasts for distant enemies, and arm blades with which they are naturally adept, they can cope with almost any enemy. Their bloodlust and fearlessness are legendary, and Holmes was no coward to begin with. He's clearly moving with much more grace and surety than he used to. “What's up, boss?”

“I was wondering what you thought of all that.”

“It's a good plan, well thought out. I don't like not having extra backup, but then again, it's a chance to show what we're made of. Re-made of? Yeah, you know.” He grins, and tosses his head towards the two younger members of your team. “Something up with them? I did notice they're fairly important in the plan. I'd put Irren on her – he'd make a great line of defense for her.” A Mirage would be perfect for playing guard duty, you have to admit, and Irren himself is no slouch at combat.

[X] You up to going in with me?
[x] I had another question...recommendations for who goes where?

You hadn't realized you were planning on personally involved – with the mission that is, though Holmes is both unattached and ruggedly handsome – until you ask, “Do you think you are up to going in the front door with me?” It only makes sense – with at least 6 combat type Dhohanoids and at least two seducers and one actual mind-controlling freak, it only makes sense that you go in personally. You're pretty sure properly armed you could manage taking on one of the less deadly Dhohanoids in Nazzadi form, and if disaster happened, setting fire to the whole damn building would get a serious investigation, even with Chrysalis Corporation buying off normal inspectors.

“Well, I'd planned on asking or suggesting it. Jakob and I would make a great distraction for the inside guys, leaving Viss to find the device. But all three of us might even be better, giving Rechert a chance to sneak off and take the device while we keep them panicked and sweating.” Holmes rubs his chin thoughtfully. “Or we could split up at that point. Hard to say. We should definitely get three badges and outfits though, even if we don't use them. I'd put Viss and Irren on the roof, or a nearby roof if we could manage that. Have her transformed, him not, that way we can use the OIS radios to keep in touch with Irren and Viss can keep in touch with Rechert....”

[Con't.]
>>
>>28672873
He shakes his head, as the two of you follow the youngsters into the main hall. They stop, and Holmes pauses when you do. “The only problem is how murderous Jakob is feeling. Echoes aren't exactly patient predators once blood is spilled. On the other hand, he's as powerful as I am in general and probably regenerates as well.”

While he's right there are two things he has overlooked. “He also has the best body-senses. He might smell something out of the ordinary before Viss spots it. Not to mention he's the demolitions expert.”

“That's a good point.”

[X] Have him get badges and outfits made up for you, Jakob and himself.
[x] Other – Arrange a meeting of the murder. (You'll need a name sometime.)
[x] Other – Have him get Jakob and Irren to meet with you, Viss, Rechert and himself at dinner.

“Check with Jakob and Irren and see if they have any ideas or suggestions, and after that, have them make a third set of identification and outfits for an OIS agent. And please make sure I can fit into one of them, I'm a lot more skinny than you musclebound heroes.”

Holmes smiles. “Maybe thinner, but very nicely defined and a lot better looking.” He squeezes your shoulder gently. “Come by my room later and I'll let you know what the others have to say. I'll make sure the QM has sidearms for us too.”

As interesting as the potential for meeting at his room might be, you have a few other things on your mind. “While I appreciate the invitation, get them to meet us at our usual table for dinner. I'll bring those two along.” You gesture at Rechert and Viss. “That way we can all be on the same page.” You have little doubt they'll agree to the general plan. It's fairly well thought out already, which makes you wonder what they would have done with a less well rounded murder of Tagers. “I have no doubt we can make this work in a single go.”

[Con't.]
>>
>>28673148
There is a little disappointment in his expression, but at the mention of dinner, he perks up immediately. “That's a pretty good idea, I should have thought of it.”

“That's why I'm the boss.” You say with a solemn wink.

He snorts and bows his head, going off to find your soldiers.

Catching up with Rechert and Viss is easily managed; like good little bookworms they're already studying the plans and files on their PDAs, and are discussing them quietly, despite the large number of people in the main hall still. Even with the funeral over, there are those who wished to discuss other subjects and perhaps discuss memories and stories of Fanzi. It wouldn't surprise you to find she was that well liked. It's also a fairly safe place to talk about tasks and missions that are not intensely secretive, since it is the site of one of the major sets of defensive wards in the enclave.

Viss looks up before you get within twenty feet of her, and smiles brightly, while Rechert remains fascinated by his PDA's contents. “I need to speak to you two.” Viss isn't surprised, of course, and nods in agreement, but Rechert starts off seeming a little confused.

“I don't think I'll have any problems, Anne. My ability to remain invisible isn't compromised even if I use the ruach I have entirely. I just won't be able to use magic at all after a few hours, and I wouldn't have time to use anything like that anyways.” You knew he was studying magic, but you had no idea he had that much orgone – it's entirely possible Rechert is an adept or even an acolyte in the mystic arts. It would make sense for Yen to get his help with rituals and spells with that much power to be had. “I do appreciate you staying to see this through with us, and I’m glad you'll be taking us with you when you leave. Will you be helping directly, though?”

“Yes, but this is not about that, Rechert. But we need to go somewhere a little more private.” The question, of course is where....

[X] A Ceremony Room. (Protected from scrying and mystic interference.)

After Viss little display of voyeurism, you decide a more protected location is a good idea. “Let's go downstairs. I think that a little extra privacy can't hurt.” Rechert looks curious, but doesn't ask any questions. Since he's wearing basic black clothing like everyone else in the room – a black sweater over a dress shirt and black jeans in his case – the three of you don't attract too much attention as you walk through the meeting hall. The files are in chipped format, easily accessible through any Society member's PDA if they have the clearance. It makes slipping them into your pocket easier than dropping them off in your room.

It doesn't take long to reach the Black Hall once more, and at the moment there are few enough people here. You can hear the cleaning crew in the main ceremony room, as well as a few sorcerers chanting and dismantling the spells woven into the area, but otherwise no one is interested in any of the lesser ritual rooms. Commandeering one nearest the elevators, you catch a glimpse of Widow standing at the entrance to the main ceremony room. She doesn't seem to have spotted you.

[Con't.]
>>
>>28673330
Closing the door, you gesture to one of the several benches around the room. Usually used to preparation or resting beforehand, they are fairly comfortable, and curved along the wall of the circular room. Wide enough for the three of you to sit together without crowding if you desire. Viss isn't nervous, and sits to one side on the bench; Rechert is somewhat less composed, though more confused than nervous. “Don't worry Rechert, I'm just going to immolate you to test for fireproofing.” The fact that you say this as you sit cross legged on the floor in front of them helps obviate any actual threat, despite your deadpan.

Viss immediately bursts into giggles behind her hand, and the startled expression you get from Rechert is glorious, momentary though it is. He smiles, his cheeks and ears beginning to turn red at being caught in such an obvious joke. “Yeah, she gets me all hot too,” adds Viss.

You politely ignore that, since you're not entirely sure she's joking.

Keeping as relaxed a voice as possible, given your symbiont's penchant for feeling that you're a domme in a world consisting of submissives, you explain to the paired youths. “We have a few things to discuss, and some of it is particular to you two. The Elders aren't entirely privy to all of it, but it's important enough to meet here instead of one of our rooms. So....”

I can do you one better.

The Echo's "water beam" is actually an electricity bolt that can be used above or below water. These are very basic descriptions. The Whisper and Shadow are both low armor and low regeneration, but higher on mobility. The Mirage is low armor, but high regeneration, but it's displacement field is a potent defense. The Echo and Nightmare ate both high armor, high regeneration, and the Echo, Mirage and Phantom are all exceedingly capable in physical combat. As noted, the Specter has a poison spikes as a ranged weapon, while the Whisper can actually use firearms designed for normal humans.

Task, Yen, then Fanzi it seems to be.

Th Phantom's Limit weapon is a mass of tentacles that strike at everything nearby.
The Whisper's wings become razor sharp and extend out, and they carve through anythign and everything in their path. Shadows teleport and strike multiple times at any oppoents nearby in their limit attack, poisoning them all. The frenzy is the Echo's limit weapon, and they become stronger and even tougher as they frenzy. they can control their targets and how long it lasts. The Mirage geneates multiple illusions of itself and then apports between them, so it could be any of them.

The shadow invisibility and the Mirage Displacement both drain orgone, but they can still use the ability without orgone - it merely prevents them from using magic or helping with rituals.

Rechert might be a good tag along for the distraction team since his invisibility makes him utterly undetectable. Having two people in tager form and gives us an unbreakable and undetectable line of communication as well.

Also, having an actual transformed Tager while in the middle of a dhohanoid nest is reassuring.

Irren and Viss outside the bulding would be good, since she can fly and he has his illusions and displacement.

I'm not sure if the guys we're attacking have any supernatural defenses or detection systems on their hands. If they do, we'll be found out the minute an invisible Tager crosses their line. So scouting ahead and gathering information about the place should be our number one priorities - getting the building's blueprints, security detail, potential sorcery and so on.

Side note, if Rechet can infiltrate the place undetected, we should have him take over the security office. At least disable their security, cut their power and so on. Then the true attack begins as the main attack team transforms in the middle of the building.

Supernatural defenses are a no go in a building with a bunch of supernatural monsters running it. They also had to disable the genetic screens at the entrances as Dhohanoids set those of. They only appear to work.

You do have blueprints of the interior, fairly detailed ones. It is unlikely the Dhohanoids have done any large scale building alterations, as there would be awkward questions asked. Basic security detail information will be on hand, but that is less reliable than the schematics.
