Continuing from where we left off, because I fell asleep like a weakling

Previously, our hero left home to become a Cleric of the Father of Light, and praise the sun errday. Along the way he met Leman Russ, a wolf who quickly became a close companion. He faced trials set before him by the Father of Light, and along the way met his second companion, a young homeless girl named Anna. After sending a ghost to it's rest, and exposing a false priest, he now ventures out into the forest to capture a band of brigands who have been terrorizing passers by.

Upon hearing a noise in the distance, you stop. Leman Russ cocks his ears and growls, and Anna nervously draws her bow. Do you:

A) Stay put and wait for something to happen
B) Tell Anna to back away
C) Approach the noise
D) Tell Leman Russ to inspect the noise
E) Other

You motion for Anna to begin putting distance between her and the noise. If something does pop out, she won't be in danger. The then put a hand on your sword and begin approaching. Leman Russ follows closely. The closer you get, the more your stomach seems to rebel against the action. Then, just as it's within spitting distance, out bursts a man in hide armor, brandishing a woodaxe. You only have a split second to react as he leaps. Do you:

A) Draw your sword and prepare to fight
B) Whistle for Leman Russ to leap into action
C) Sidestep and dodge his charge

With the agility you gained from months of hard practice, you dodge just in time for his axe to graze your head. As if in slow motion, you can see your hairs severed, and blowing in the breeze. You roll and turn to face your attacker, who is already making his second attack. Luckily, Leman Russ is upon him long before he gets to you, biting and clawing at his face. Anna shouts something you can't make out, and more men emerge from the brush, with clubs and axes and knives. There are at least 6 men not counting the one dispatched by Leman Russ. This could be dire. Should you:

A) Begin running, and try to take them one at a time
B) Allow them to circle you, and fight back to back with Leman Russ.

Desperate, you draw out your Holy Symbol and pray to the Father of Light. However, there seems to be no effect. The bandits draw closer, and Leman Russ leaps upon another. Now two men wrestle with him, as 4 begin assaulting you. You dodge and parry as best you can, but they still manage to strike you. One of them drives his club into your solar plexus, taking the wind out of you. Things look bleak as he raises his club to swing again, but then he cries in pain and falls to his knees. You can see an arrow jutting from the back of his neck, and in the distance Anna is notching another. Back in the fray, you are having a much easier time with 3 attackers, and Leman Russ has managed to tear the calf of one of the others. However, just as you are feeling confident, you hear a whine as Leman Russ takes an axe to the side, which penetrates his armor. The bandit who struck him then charges for Anna, who misses with her arrow out of surprise. You run a bandit through, but now you must act fast. Do you:

A) Trust Anna. She can take him, but Leman Russ needs help now!
B) Run to help Anna. Leman Russ is hurt but he won't go down that easily
C) Focus on the two assaulting you. If you turn your back now, they'll just stab you in the kidney

Now is not the time to panic! You focus on your opponents, trying to defeat them quickly before things get worse. One of them makes the mistake of trying to thrust at you with his knife, giving you the chance to catch his arm and dislocate his shoulder, just as your instructor taught you. The other panics, and is overtaken by a wounded and angry Leman Russ. Now free to act, you rush toward Anna, but discover that the bandit that had been charging her was indeed struck by an arrow to the leg, and is rolling on the ground in pain. You have successfully fended off the bandit attack with your companions. Most of them are dead, but one of them is merely injured. Do you:

A) Take the last one in to pay for his crime

You call your companions over to rest for a moment. Anna produces a medical kit from her bag, and begins to treat Leman Russ' wound. It's not too deep, but it will hurt him to run for a few days. When you question the last bandit, he confesses that there is another band of them waiting further down the road, totaling 10. Things don't seem to be in your favor. Anna encourages you to seek out the other bandits, confident in your ability to defeat any number of them. Leman Russ is wounded, however. Perhaps it is better to allow him rest before marching into danger. Will you:

A) Head out to meet the bandits now
B) Go back to the church to rest, at the risk of more innocents being harassed
C) Send Anna and Leman Russ back alone, and fight the bandits yourself

You tell Anna and Leman Russ to take the bandit back to the Holy Palace to be sentenced, while you go on ahead by yourself. They protest for quite a while, but eventually you put your foot down and tell them there is no other choice. Anna gives you her bow before she leaves, and hugs you for good luck. Then she and Leman Russ drive the bandit back toward the walls of the city.

Now you are making your way down the road, searching for signs of the bandits. You spot a campfire in the trees, and hear a group of men laughing and cavorting. You have the drop on them, you should capitalize on this opportunity. Do you:

A) Sneak through the brush and try to get behind them
B) Try to take to the trees. You'll be easier to spot, but much harder to hear
C) Draw the bow and try to hit them from here

The others are shocked, and quickly prepare for battle. Will you:

You continue moving stealthily and striking from behind, until there are only 3 bandits left. You won't be able to sneak as easily this time. As soon as you take one down, the other two will be ready. Should you:

The other two hear him fall, and are taken aback. The armored one roars with anger, and the small one seems ready to run. Then the armored one spots you, and charges you with an axe. You rise to your feet and engage in melee combat. He is protected well, but his movements are clumsy and driven by anger. There is little finesse in his swings, and you find yourself toying with him briefly before cutting his knee and delivering a swift blow to the head with your pommel, sending him to the leaf strewn ground. The remaining bandit runs for the road, not once looking back. Should you:

A) Let him go. He won't dare try to rob anyone on this road again

He'll get away this time, but at least you stopped the bandits. It is now just you and the armored man, alone in the forest. You must get him back to the Holy Palace, but it will be a difficult with his knee injured. He looks up at you with disdain. How should you go about this?

Right, like how we showed no mercy to that thief before we were a cleric. Thanks to which, it was revealed our virtue was proved and we were allowed to be inducted into the Order. Now that we're a man of God, of course, we should KILL evildoers whenever possible. That's how priests roll, right?

Your morality outweighs your anger, and you find it in you to show mercy. The remove his helmets and chestplate, and throw his axe into the woods before helping him to his feet and allowing him to lean on you for the trip back. He spits in your face as soon as you are eye level, but you do not let hate rule your thinking. You simply shove him toward the road and begin walking. The entire time he obviously tries to weigh you down, but you stop him by prodding the back of his knee with your foot. It takes nearly an hour longer than it should, but you make it back to the Holy Palace and present him to the elders. The Paladins bring him to trial with the other captured bandit, and thank you for your good work. Now you are free to go back to your own business. Should you:

A) Find your companions, and make sure they're all right
B) Rest. Anna and Leman Russ made it back, so there's no need to worry about them now

You decide to find your friends before anything else, if only for piece of mind. After asking around, you learn that Anna and Leman Russ have been taken to the infirmary, where Leman Russ received treatment for his wound. When you enter, Leman Russ is lying in a bed, with his armor removed and his waist bandaged up. Anna is petting him as he rests, but upon seeing you she jogs over and hugs you again. You tell her about your battle with the bandits, which amazes her to no end. You go to Leman Russ, and check his dressings. He seems as energetic as ever, but a cleric informs you that he won't be battle ready for at least a week. Thanking the cleric for her help, you take your companions to the Chamber of Justice, where the bandits are standing trial. Trials are administered by Paladins, and there is no shortage of them here. 12 of them sit behind a long table at the far end of the chamber, questioning the accused. The trial itself is fairly dull, with long stretches of old men quoting scripture and grumbling amongst themselves. After nearly 4 hours, they sentence the leader of the bandits to life in prison, and the other to 20 years laboring for the city. The chamber empties, and you wake Anna and Leman Russ from a drooling sleep. It is nearly dinner time. What should you do?

Anna's stomach growls ferociously when you mention food. Leman Russ also seems eager to eat. None of you have eaten since breakfast, so now sounds like a good time to get something hot to eat. You head to the mess hall, where they are dispensing bowls of beef stew and corn bread, as well as wine and juice for the children. You eat and laugh with Anna, and you are joined by your instructor and some other inquisitors. You hear stories about their missions, and pick up a few tips from some of the older ones. After dinner, you put Anna to bed, much to her frustration, as she wishes to keep talking with the inquisitors. You normally wouldn't mind, but the wine is starting to hit them and the stories are getting a bit saucy for her. After, you go to the men's chambers and disrobe. It's only now that you notice several bruises rising from the places you were hit. It's painful to lie down, and you wonder if you should get some balm before bed. Do you:

It's not a good idea to risk your health, even if it's embarrassing. You get out of bed and head to the infirmary. There you find a large cleric, preparing herbs with a mortar and pestle. You suspect the he doesn't need to work shirtless, but you don't know much about medicine. He continues to grind the herbs into a paste, not noticing you as you walk in. Should you:

You decide to sit on a bed and wait for him to finish what he's doing before asking for help. Your sleepiness causes you to lose track of time, but eventually he seems to finish, and put away his tools. You clear your throat to get his attention, and he turns to see you. His chest glistens in the torchlight, and your noticing this sends a slight shiver up your spine. Looking away, you ask if he has any balms that can help clear up the bruises. He smiles and answers warmly that he does indeed, and fetches a clay pot from a shelf. He tosses it to you and says you should apply it before bed, and every morning until the discoloration stops. You thank him, and begin applying the stuff to your bruises. It hurts, and the creme is cold, but you can feel it numbing the sore skin. You reach toward your upper back to treat a large bruise, but a twinge of pain prevents you. Now, half naked and tired, you face your most daunting choice yet. Do you:

You steel yourself and reach back to the bruise. The pain is enormous, echoing down your back the entire time. You have developed a hatred for blunt weapons. As you rub the cream on, tears well up in your eyes, but you manage to stop them from escaping with sheer force of will. After a moment, the skin and muscles begin to dull like before, and the pain subsides. The cleric smiles at your struggle, but pats you on the shoulder when you manage to finish. You thank him, and head back to bed. Now you can rest easy, without the pain from before. You sleep like a fat housecat in the sun.

Once again, time passes by. The days grow short and cold, and morning prayer gets very hard to complete without rubbing your hands together for warmth. Anna presents you with a scarf she made in sewing class, meant to match the one you gave her. It is a poor excuse for a rag, but the sentiment is there. Leman Russ also gives you a gift, in the form of a dead pheasant he found in the garden. Lovely. It comes to be the sunset festival, thrown on the shortest day of the year, symbolizing the calling back of the summer sun. Gifts are exchanged, via names drawn from a hat. Anna and Leman Russ get to work on their gift, not telling you who it is for anything. You unfold your paper to see that you are meant to give a gift to the head inquisitor. This could be your chance to get a boost in status. Do you:

A) Get him a sword, a practical gift he can use
B) Get him a decorative shield, for his office

It's too soon to decide now. You will ask the other inquisitors about him, and try to gather information. Your instructor tells you that the head enjoys collecting crystal figures, that he displays in the sun. That seems quite expensive. Some of the others in your prayer group suggest a box of chocolates. The head seems to have a notorious sweet tooth, that he believes nobody knows about. Finally, the bishop himself hears about your questions, and suggests that you make him a new belt buckle, stating that handmade gifts are the most appreciated. Now that you have some options, you can decide what to do. Do you:

A) Buy him the figure. Money is nothing compared to status
B) Get the chocolates. Everybody loves treats
C) Make a belt buckle. He'll appreciate your hard work

You decide on the handmade buckle. Luckily, you know a little about iron-smithing, from when you used to help make horseshoes on the farm. This shouldn't be too different. You buy some materials and ask to borrow the Palace smithy for your work. When you explain your reasons to the smith, he gladly lends his aid. Together you craft a lovely black iron buckle bearing the visage of the sun. Perhaps it needs one final touch, though. Should you:

A) Melt a gold coin onto the symbol, to really make it pop
B) Polish it to a mirror sheen, so it feels more like a professional work
C) Make a matching pin with the leftover materials
D) Leave it as is. Simplicity has it's own kind of beauty.

After hours of rigorous elbow grease, and with a little help from the smith, you smooth and polish the buckle until it shimmers. The surface goes from a rough carving to a smooth face, that feels good under your thumb. You wrap it in cloth and wait for the festival. On that day, the entire city celebrates. The church throws it's own party, with food and drink. The prize of the dinner is a great boar, brought down by local hunters and bought by the elders specially for this celebration. When it comes time to exchange gifts, people begin milling about the room, passing boxes and bags to each other. Anna goes off and gives another handmade scarf/rag to one of the Paladins. She pats her head and thanks her. Then she in turn receives a box from a young cleric, which contains a fur hat and matching muffler for Leman Russ. The head inquisitor sits at the long table, drinking and talking with the other elders. Will you:

You shake your head, to snap out of your thoughts. He may be the head of the inquisitors, but this festival isn't about rank. It's about brotherhood and togetherness. You approach the long table and hold out the wrapped gift. He looks slightly confused, but takes it and begins to unwrap it. When he reveals the buckle, the elders next to him are struck with awe. He himself only smiles slightly, and stands up, removing the buckle holding his quiver and replacing it with yours. He reaches a hand out to shake, patting your shoulder with his rough hand.

"Quite well made, lad. I'm surprised that a new member would go to such trouble. Tell me, how would you like to accompany me on my next mission? Perhaps you could learn a few things. Of course, you can't bring your companions. The jobs I take part in are not suited to a girl and a pup."

How do you respond:

You say that your companions are valuable to you and the church. Anna and Leman Russ have been working hard to serve the Father of Light, and you won't leave them behind. The head rubs his stubble and hums.

"I respect your love of your comrades, but I will absolutely not allow them on a mission this dangerous. Speak to me if ever you need anything." He pushes in his chair and says his goodbyes to the other elders. You head back to Anna, who tells you that one of the clerics left your gift with her when she saw you speaking to the head inquisitor. She hands it to you, and you untie the bag. Inside is an assortment of candies in various colors. They look homemade, judging by the free-form shapes. Anna informs you that the woman who dropped them off seemed quite flustered, and was accompanied by a large and muscular cleric in too little warm clothing. When you go to take one, the doors to the mess hall fly open and a Paladin in full armor enters. He screams that the walls are being attacked by a tribe from the south. They are looting the shops and burning homes to cover their tracks. The elders rise and begin organizing the ranks, as the children are lead to safety in the inner chambers. The inquisitors rush you to find arms and head to the outer walls. It is your duty to be on the front line. However, as you start toward the chambers, Anna tugs at your sleeve. She demands to be allowed to help you. Nobody will notice if she's among the inquisitors, but this will be a real battle. Leman Russ too wishes to go, but separating them may not be a good idea. Will you:

A) Command her to stay with the children, This is far too much for her.

You order her to take Leman Russ and go with the children to safety. She cries and says she is ready to fight with you, but you have none of it. A cleric comes to take them, and she sticks her tongue out at you as she is pulled away. You roll your eyes and head to the men's chambers to fetch your things. The other men are equipping themselves as well. Once you are fitted and ready, you rush out of the cathedral where you are directed toward the south wall. You run full speed through the streets, now empty except for other members of the church running toward the invaders. Soon enough, you spot the attackers: a mob of orcs in hide armor with wooden clubs and machetes. The Paladins slow down to form a defensive line against the invaders, and the inquisitors are ordered to find away around the back and force them into a pincer attack. You split into two groups, one will scale the wall and the other will sneak through the rubble of the burnt buildings. Will you:

Your allies can handle themselves, you have to trust your orders. You make a beeline for the wall and begin climbing. As you do, you see other inquisitors fighting, and some on the wall being pulled down or hit with thrown stones. Luckily you reach the top without too much problem, and peer out over the outside. You draw your bow, planning to thin the enemy numbers before you go in. Your fellow inquisitioners are already among them though, so you must be careful where you shoot. Looking back, the paladins are pushing the orcs back toward the wall with some success. The larger orcs are giving them a deal of trouble, but you trust them to do their job. You turn your attention back to the outside, and begin loosing arrows into the crowd. You hit nearly a dozen of them before you run low on arrows, and at that point the crowd is too intermixed to keep firing wildly. You leap down and land in a bush, which cushions your fall. Now you are ankle deep on corpses of all kinds. The orcs and inquisitors seem evenly matched, as the size and durability of the enemy stacks up against the swiftness of your allies. You enter the fray, helping to take down several orcs, some of which are still plugged with your arrows. Eventually you work your way around the back and begin the attempt to drive them in toward the wall. You are blindsided once, and take a club to the side of your head which leaves your right eye bloody and swollen. However after much effort, you encircle the orcs with the paladins. Now the fight is in your favor. You and your comrades hack and slash and dance around the enemy. You watch a few more inquisitors fall, but you hold out. As the battle draws to a close, another large orc catches you on your backfoot and swings his machete at your leg. He lands a powerful blow, and you collapse. Right as it seems you're done for, a paladin tackles him and bashes his skull in with his mace. He helps you up and carries you back inside the walls, all the way to a station set up to treat critical injuries. The clerics there give you a mixture that relaxes your body, and you find the combination of blood loss, medicine, and adrenaline low too powerful to resist, and you lose consciousness.

Continued in just a minute, running out of space.

You rise from your bed and attempt to stand. It is hard, and your head throbs a bit when you move too much, but you power though it. You stumble in the dark and find your way to the bed which the voice emanated from. The dark betrays you, and you must draw very close to see. But when you do, indeed make out the image of someone you know.

It is your instructor, lying on his back and shifting in his sleep. His face seems fine, but when you look closely you see that his chest and arm are bandaged heavily. While this is terrible news, somewhere in the back of your mind you are relieved. A cleric approaches you from behind and offers you a sleep aid if you are feeling restless. You decline her offer and go back to bed on your own. You suppose, as you drift off, that even if your instructor weren't wounded, there would be no practices for a few days.

The next morning, as you are awoken for breakfast, you see that many of the people in the infirmary are at least able to eat normally, which relieves you. Your instructor, you find out, was among the group who traversed the rubble of burned buildings, and had a wall collapse on him. You are also told that although your leg should heal up perfectly fine, your eye will need to be covered for some time while it heals. They give you a gold cloth to use in the meantime, and tell you that after breakfast you may feel free to walk around the Palace if you feel up to it. Will you:

You head toward the women's chambers and ask to see Anna and Leman Russ. The cleric there, however tells you that they left at sunrise, right after morning prayers. She says that Anna mentioned needing to fix something, and took Leman Russ with her. You ask around the Holy Palace to see if anyone else had seen where she may have went. One paladin says he saw her headed into town with a pouch full of coins, and another says he saw her in the cathedral, praying. You start to get worried for her, even if Leman Russ is with her. She hasn't been out in the town by herself since you brought her here. Should you:

You head out into the town and follow the path that the paladin reported her taking. It leads you to the market on the north side of town. On the way you notice that a large portion of the south side is closed off for repair. The bodies seem to have been mostly cleared out, but there is still a lot of debris and blood staining the floor and even some walls.

When you reach the north part of town, you ask around about a little girl in white and gold robes traveling with a wolf in gold armor. You mention they may be wearing a matching hat and muffler. No luck at first, but one woman does mention the textile shop. When you head there, the owner does confirm that such a girl came by, and dumped out a pouch of copper coins while asking for a cut of yellow and white fabric. She didn't mention what it was for, but the owner mentions that she didn't pay but half the price of the goods, however he was willing to let it slide since she offered to help clean the backroom. He tells you she left right after, and headed to a taylor, but mentioned needing to get to the cathedral later. How long ago all this happened, he can't say for certain. Will you:

You decide to conserve your energy and head back to the Palace. She'll come to you eventually. Once there, you head to the cathedral for belated morning prayers and to wait for Anna to return. You see the bishop praying there, and realize it must be already noon if he's here. You approach to join him, but then stop when you notice something heaped on the sacred rug. Lumped together there are Anna and Leman Russ, curled up and sleeping. The bishop turns to acknowledge you, and you attempt to apologize for their behavior, but the bishop assures you that no harm has been done. Will you:

You kneel before the visage of the sun, which shines brightly from the light directed at it by the windows. Noon is always the best time to view the cathedral, as it fills with gold and orange light. You pray silently, asking for health, fortune, and mercy. You also pray for leniency for your companions, who are at this point drooling on a thousand year old tapestry weaved by saints. When you finish, you and the bishop stand and bow, then reach up toward the sun's visage, symbolizing the sunrise over the mountains. Anna stirs and rubs her face, and the bishop leaves you to her. She looks up at you, and her movement seems to alert Leman Russ, who moves out from under her and sits at attention. Anna gets up and brushes herself off, welcoming you back in a slightly sad tone. You apologize for telling her to stay, but assert that you stand by your judgment, and that she is too young and frail to charge headlong into battle. She shrugs and looks at you again, this time shocked by the gold cloth wrapped around your head. She puts her hands on your face and draws you down to look at it, almost grimacing at the smell. She asks what happened. What is your response:

A) An orc bashed me good during the fight. Nearly popped the damned thing right out

She scrunches her face, but accepts your words, telling you to wash up soon, since you smell like a corpse in summer. Leman Russ sniffs you, and seems to quite enjoy your new odor, whatever that means. You agree to bath at your next convenience. Anna then gets a surprised look on her face and reaches into her bag. She pulls out another scarf, this one much thicker, and made with white and yellow fabric.

"The teachers say I have no talent for sewing at all, but I put a lot of effort into this one. I wish they didn't make all the girls learn crafts while the boys learn gathering though. Anyway, I made this to replace your old one. When they dragged you back from the fight, it was missing except for some tatters dangling from your collar."

She hands you the new scarf, and you wrap it around your neck. It's not nearly as warm as mom's but you couldn't tell her that when she worked so hard. You then turn and tell her to follow you, so that you can get some lunch before the good stuff is gone. Leman Russ pads behind, but you notice quickly that Anna isn't following. You ask her what the matter is.

"When they brought you back, you were covered in blood and dirt. It was like you swam in a lake of the stuff. So many people were being covered by the clerics, and taken to be embalmed. I kept watching you, to see if they'd take you too. I was scared. Leman Russ was scared, but he's a wolf. He doesn't remember things like that for long, not like I do. Be honest, is that what our lives are going to be here? You going off to danger and me waiting for them to close your eyes and take you away?" She looks down at the floor, balling her fists.

"Just promise me you won't let yourself die out there without a fight. You and Leman are all I have left. I don't want to lose my family again."

You bend down and comfort her with a hug. She returns the gesture, and Leman Russ stands on his hind legs and paws at you both in an effort to join in. You pet him and praise him, and then all head to the mess hall for lunch. Sure enough, all that remains after the others are done is bread, jam and tea, but you make due. You go out into the garden with Anna, where many of the injured seem to be spending their downtime. She pressures you into sparring as you usually do, wherein she swings at you while you parry for two hours until she runs out of steam. During this, you notice that her swings are becoming stronger, and faster, and harder to predict. Still, it takes only a minimal amount of concentration to stop them. You are mostly free to think about the events of the battle, and what you will do now.

You tell Anna to put up her training sword for now, because you will focus your time on conditioning. She's little more than a rail now, and she will need power and agility for the future, more than techniques. She groans, but obeys and the two of you change into lighter clothing. First, the three of you go for a run through the town. Leman Russ has little trouble keeping up with you, and by the end is eager to keep going, but you and Anna are dead tired. After a hot bathe and some stew, you get to bed. The next few days, and in fact weeks rotate between running and aerobics with the inquisitors, to weight lifting and endurance training with the paladins. This continues on so long, the two of you fail to notice your instructor when he heals, and simply continue the trend of pushing one another. You do spend a few days practicing the bow and sword, eventually though. By the time summer is about to roll around again, your eye is ready to be unwrapped. You are excited to regain your depth perception, which will make it much easier to avoid tripping over things while you walk. A few people gather to see you unveil your face, and most of them offer to undo the wraps for you. Will you:

A) Ask Anna. She seems the most exited.

You allow Anna to do the honors, and she raises a fist in triumph. She approaches and reaches around the back of your head to undo the knot. Then she begins unraveling the first layer, consisting of the gold cloth. When it's removed, she makes a sour face, which you can only assume means there was some fluid left to be seen after they set the wraps. She then releases the pin securing the gauze wraps, and begins to unroll them around your head. Slowly you feel a chillness building on your eye, as the body heat held in by the wraps is released. Finally the wraps are gone, and she wipes your face with a warm cloth, to remove any dirt. You open your right eye and allow it time to adjust to light, as the others in the room look on. After a few moments of blurriness and mild discomfort, you can see clearly once more. Everything gains new depth and color. One thing that stands out though is Anna. She has built a good deal of muscle over your training, but you never took the time to look at her for this long. You get to your feet and look around, admiring the vividness of the room. The cleric asks how your vision is.

You respond with excited vigor, and everyone in the room cheers. You take one more sweeping look around the room, and run your hands through Leman Russ' fur, admiring the sheen on every strand. Once that's done, you all head out to the theater, to celebrate your ability to see in three dimensions with an opera. You bathe and dress up in your best robes, rubbing yourself with some scent of sunflowers for the occasion. Anna wears finer clothes as well, which is surprising, since she always seems to wear the rattiest thing he has. The bishop, your instructor, and two of the bishop's guards join you. Leman Russ has been washed and brushed, and squeezed into a new drape. All of you head down and sit in the church's private section. You sit between the bishop and Anna, with Leman Russ stretched out on the floor in front of you.

The opera is a love story, about a princess who loses her love in a great war, and is forced to marry the prince of the invading nation. You find the voices of the singers to be quite moving, but Anna seems more interested in the duel at the climax. Near the finale, Anna leans over and whispers that she would save you, if ever you were in such a scrap. You say:

A) And you'd carry me off in your strong arms

You reassure her with a smile, and she laughs. At the end, as the flourish fades away and the house lights go on, you wipe away the remains of your tears from earlier and nudge Leman Russ awake. Anna seems quite beaten, so you skip wine with the bishop after and head straight home. Anna and Leman Russ go to bed, and you go to the men's chambers to unwind. You remove your formal robes and hang them up beside your bed. You lay down and fold your hands behind your head. You can still smell sunflowers on yourself. As you are laying there, you realize that it has been a year since you arrived in the city.

The next few days go by, and you get used to fighting with two eyes again. It doesn't take long to adjust, but while it does, you have to be extra careful when sparring with Anna. She is quite vicious today. When you break for lunch, as you sit in the mess hall, a cleric approaches you. She greets you warmly, saying that it is a pleasure to see you again. When you don't remember her, she tells you that she was the one who treated you while you were injured after the battle. She also says that you met during prayers when you first arrived, and she made you the candies during the festival. She says that since you're an inquisitor, it might be a good idea to learn some healing spells in case of emergency. She has time this afternoon. Should you:

A) Accept. Healing magic would indeed be useful
B) Thank her, but decline. You already have a full day with Anna and Leman Russ.
C) Ask if she has time tomorrow instead

Can't people who aren't cleric but still in the church can heal or is it forbidden? I mean, we did heal that knight dude.

What about divine spells that paladin use? Can we use them?

I think the three groups are divided on skills. Palidans can both fight and heal but can't do either as well as the other groups but they got high defensive armor.

Clerics can't fight as well as the other two groups but they can use magic and can heal so fucking good.

Inquiestors or shit can't do much magic but focus on EVIL SLAYING AND DEMON KILLING AND PUNISHING THE WICKED, thus their offensive focus is super high wired but to be as killy as possible, they don't wear armor or barely much to move as fast and hit as fast as possible

You eagerly accept her offer. You tell Anna to review with Leman Russ while you're gone, to which she responds with a pout and a shrug. After you finish eating, you find the cleric's study, which in truth is a large library full of high shelves and wooden tables, as well as a circle for practicing rituals. She greets you and leads you by the hand to a table that she has already set up for studying. You sit next to her, and read the text she has selected and placed between you. The writing is hard to make out, since you only know the basics of reading the holy text, but she helps you when you stumble. She explains that reading and comprehending the text is the first step to learning magic. The scriptures seem like normal stories, but in truth they hide key insights into the spirit. After a few verses, she takes your hands and closes them in hers. She tells you to ponder the texts you have read, and try to see their true meaning. You do so. Then you feel a great warmth, like the sun contained in your very hands. You open your eyes and see orange light pouring from them.

"I used my own light to help coax yours out. Your hands are stained with blood, but the light within you shines brighter than most inquisitors that worship here. I can tell you have no love for bloodshed."

You have learned to channel the Father's Light to cast Heal. This chant can be used twice per day, without cost if you evoke it in direct sunlight.

She congratulates you, and you take a moment to enjoy the warmth in your palms. You help her clean up the books, and ask her for her name. She tells you to call her Diane. Before you part ways, she thanks you again, and reveals that her brother was the man you saved from being killed by an orc during the battle. You thank her in return for her help, and exit the study. You go to find Anna and Leman Russ in the garden.

A) Ask how practice goes
B) Brag about your new power
C) Watch them quietly

You find Anna and Leman Russ training in the garden, just as you instructed. They go over Leman Russ' basic commands, such as sitting, speaking, and rolling. You watch as they move to more complex maneuvers, like prowling, returning, and fetching objects around the garden. Eventually they tire out and Anna resorts to petting Leman Russ, while she murmurs to herself. It's getting to be dinner time, and the kitchen is serving shepherd's pie. Will you:

A) Listen in to Anna
B) Call her for dinner. It's mean to eavesdrop
C) Go alone. She seems to want time to herself.
