Last Time on Digger Quest!: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28657261/

Check my Twitter for Quest Times and Reschedules: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Your name is Bass Treble. You were born on Eden Island and raised by your father the fisherman. You've dreamed of becoming a Digger your whole life and today you decided you were going to set out on your adventure and fulfill your dream. However in the process of scouring a ruin for something to pay for your ride to Mull Island you ran into a man named Metalmen and his gang of Diggers.

He offered you a job and you acted as a hired hand, helping him through the ruin under the promise of payment. After blowing the door to the main chamber and discovering a giant purple Refractor, Metalmen was informed by one of his men that their ship had been destroyed and the Red Skull pirates were already drilling down to get them.

After narrowly avoiding getting buried alive, you got into a battle with a drill equipped robot and defeated it, only to pass out shortly before one of the Red Skull’s ships crashed down into the main chamber. You awoke in some kind of meat locker and was immediately electrocuted and beaten savagely, tortured for information. You managed to resist the torture (laughing the entire time) and got yourself released by a blond girl named Red.

You are currently alone in the meat locker, badly beaten, shirtless, and with no equipment save for the bolt cutters Red left.

You need to get your stuff back and get off this ship alive!

You stand in the meat locker, taking a moment to rest up since it’s only been a few minutes since you’ve been tortured. As you look over the room and the bolt cutters, you try and remind yourself of what you’re capable of to keep calm.

After all you’re:

You remind yourself that you know how to fix things up and improvise. On top of that you're good at finding things and you've heard a lot of stuff about Diggers and Digging so you aren't totally in the dark on what to do.

At the moment though you're not sure how exactly you can apply those skills to get out of this mess. You need to find your stuff since all your money and supplies were in your backpack and without that you're screwed even if you get off the ship. You should also probably get your Buster Gun back. You're too injured to win in a straight up fight right now but you don't want to lose such a rare weapon.

Looking around you think on what to do:

After that you decide to look around for a way to get out. You try to see if there are any ventilation shafts or chains you could use...

You search around the meat locker and don't find much. It's mostly ice, frozen chunks of meat, and other frozen foods. You find a length of chain hanging from the ceiling. After unhooking it, you wrap it around your waist so you have a free hand to carry the bolt cutters.

A quick search of the wall revealed a ventilation shaft big enough for you to crawl through. Opening the grate was easy, but you were unhappy to find that the vent was freezing, but considering how beaten up you are it might do your body some good.

Climbing into the vent, you pull the cover back on and begin to crawl your way through the shaft, chain wrapped around your waist and bolt cutters in hand. You try to crawl as quiet as you possibly can as you move through the vent, following it in the hope of finding an opening somewhere else.

You pass a few grates now and then, but they aren't the kind to come off and the rooms they lead into are ether empty or store rooms of some kind, usually holding more food or building materials. Eventually you come too one vent that overlooks what you can only describe as a hanger of some kind.

Small fighter craft line the walls of the room and a large door sits in the middle of the floor, large mechanisms seem to indicate it's supposed to lower or open. Armed men and nasty looking yellow robots move around the hanger, working on some of the craft and others carrying boxes or munitions to and from the hanger.

If you had to take a wild guess, you were on one of the Redskull's airships...

What do you wish to do Bass?

Let's try to overhear them. Maybe we'll find out what they're planning or where our stuff is.
Also, try to remember as much of the place as you can - in case a fight breaks out, we need to know where's what.

You decide to stick around for a little bit and try to overhear any of the crew's conversations. It's a pretty large hanger and you can't hear anything from across it but you do overhear two of the men working on a fighter.

"Why didn't we hit that last island the way we've hit all the one's before?" One of the gaunter of the two men ask.

"Because apparently we got what the Captain was looking for." The burly man states, demanding a wrench as he begins to work in the guts of the craft.

"You mean that big ol' Refractor we found? Didn't it shatter when Metalmen and his gang crashed that scout ship?"

"Yeah, but it wasn't the Refractor the Captain was looking for, it was what was inside of the Refractor."

"What the heck would be inside of a Refractor?" The gaunt man asks looking perplexed.

"I don't know, and if you know anything you won't ask. Captain Jupiter doesn't like nosey people. He tells who he wants too and anyone who sticks their nose where it doesn't belongs gets to take a couple hundred foot dive into the sea. Now shut up and hand me that drill."

You wait a few minutes more before deciding to move on, noting where the hanger is.

>(1/2)
>>
A shattered giant refractor is still many many smaller refractors. Zenny is just refractor crystals, small refractor crystals. Currency is energy, literally, in this setting and that is wonderful.
>>
>>28697739
Crawling through the grate you pass more un-openable vents and more storeroom. Eventually you begin to make your way upwards after crawling for a good 20 minutes. The next couple of vents you pass, while un-openable, allow you to tell you're on another deck.

Engines whir, pipes leak water and steam, and engineers rush from one room to another, checking gauges and doing what you can guess is maintenance work. While you don't spot any Refractors from the vents you'd have to guess you were probably in the engine room or engineering.

It's warmer, but the slits in the vents are bigger then they have been so far. If someone looks at the vents they'll probably be able to see you...

A: Don't Stick around, keep moving and keep an eye out for anything.

Wait, does anyone get the feeling that the person in the rubber suit could have been Red. She said she built the drill bot we fought...so she was obviously one of these pirates.

This is a game, we're being played. If she's an engineer, it's easy to hide a voice mod in the rubber suit's hood. She couldn't get what she wanted from us with vinegar so she tried honey. That clever girl.

(We're Bass, we need to get a little rage going...we have in fact been tortured for frankly no good reason. Once we go full Professional Digger/Mercenary/Archeologist/Pirate we need to start changing the pronounciation. Go from a short vowel to a long vowel.)
>>
>>28697990
We have every right to be angry at these guys. They tortured us, took us from our home, stole our treasure, and apparently wanted to attack our home like they did before. That's a pretty solid reason to be angry and wanting to fuck their shit up.

Not wanting to risk getting spotted you make another mental note of where the engine room is and begin to move out. You might be able to sabotage their engines if things turn pear shaped for you.

You continue to move through the vents, eventually making your way up once again. This time you run into some vents you can exit out of. However the first ones you come across exit out into a cafeteria of some kind. Many men and those yellow robots appear to be eating and chatting amongst themselves. Unable to hear anything over the loud chatter, you press forward and come across another vent that leads into a large, very busy kitchen.

From the vent you see the girl who released you enter into the kitchen with a large side of beef. Immediately plopping it down and taking a knife too it. You watch her for a few moments as she works and nearly jump out of your skin when she looks up towards the vent. One of the cooks approaches her and asks "Anything wrong?"

"Huh? Oh nothing. I'm just thinking about that kid I tortured. Dad asked me to let him loose to see where he would go. He's worried there might be some of Metalmen's pals on the ship, but I think he's just being paranoid." Red states with a shrug.

"Aren't you worried he might do something to screw us over? We lose and engine and we could be in trouble."

"Don't worry. I slipped a tracker on him when I was getting him down. If he doesn't go anywhere I'll have some men smoke him out of the vents and throw him into the sea. Shame...he was kind of cute for a kid."

That lying bitch! She was the one who electrocuted you! Quickly searching your body you find a small, black, quarter sized device in your pants pocket. You would have never realized it was there if you hadn't looked!

Calm down, we'll just rob them blind and sink their ship while laughing maniacally.
>>

Either soup it and go back to the engines to fuck shit up, or...

We could kick open this vent, drop down, and say
"Funny, I was thinking that you were the one in the rubber suit once my head started to clear. Shock therapy isn't good for the cognitive processes. If I had a mama she would have warned me about kinky girls like you, Red,"
>>
>>28698351
And we'll have the entire kitchen on our ass to kill us.

If anything, we should raid their armory once we get rid of the tracer. If we get remotely controlled explosives of some kind, we can blow their engines up from afar or keep the entire ship hostage. And then blow the engines up.
>>
>>28698187
>>28698207
You decide not to destroy the tracer and instead slip it through the grate, watching it it fall soundlessly into a big pot of tomato soup which is taken to the cafeteria line almost immediately afterwards.

Smiling wickedly to yourself you make your way through the vents, keeping vigilant for any sign of your stuff. You pass by some crew quarters, a wreck room or two, and eventually pass a vent leading into what appears to be someone's private quarters. It seems somewhat nice, not overly feminine but definitely not masculine.

On the other side of the room is a workbench with various tools, blueprints, and...your bag! You can see your backpack and your Buster Gun beside it!

Your field of vision is pretty limited from the vent, but by pressing your face up against it and looking down you can barely see some kind of wire stretched across the front of the vent. If you had cut the vent open and popped it out, the wire would have been tugged and whatever trap awaited you would have been sprung.

Moving through the vent you come too a big room next door to the trapped room with a large table and numerous chairs surrounding it. Seeing it was empty and that it had a grate you could get remove without cutting, you pop it off and climb down from the vent, placing it back before entering the hall.

You quickly make your way next door and enter the room, closing the door firmly behind you. Looking at the vent you can see it is trapped, with two electrode like devices hooked onto the sides.

>10 Demolition charges. Nothing big explosive wise from what you can tell, they're probably meant to blow up doors and such. Still, they should be enough to cause some damage to whatever you put them on. Each has a separate timer.

And...a diary...

Stuffing all the goodies into your pack you immediately thumb through the diary. It only has entries for the first couple of months, the first entry seems to indicate why.

>"Gah, this sucks. I can't remember anything. Thankfully my father, Jupiter, told me my name is Red and says my memory should come back with time. He'll allow me to rest up until I feel like doing something. For some odd reason I have the urge to...make things. I wasn't hit was a rocket was I? If I was I must be tougher then I look. Oh well, probably nothing important."

After putting the diary back into it's place you take a look at the trap and wonder how you'll be able to move it from the grate to the door.

Overall it seems pretty simple. Pulling the string pulls pins from the electrodes which will probably electrocute whoever is close enough. Probably not enough to kill you, but enough to probably knock you out or leave you in a lot of pain.

You have your Buster Gun, your stuff, and are still currently shirtless. However you have timed explosives. You could go to the engine room, set the bombs somewhere sensitive, then get to the hanger and blast your way out with one of those fighters.

However the pirates are sure to have loot and weapons galore on this ship somewhere maybe some more searching before your escape might be worth the risk.

Maybe I'll go down and ask to help in Engineering tomorrow, no sense in sitting around. It's odd though, all I can remember is rockets. Something important about rockets. Guys. How could you read this and not think rescue is the obvious answer? She's got AMNESIA. And her FATHER (I'll bet anything he isn't) who has so graciously taken her under his wing is named JUPITER.

You need to patch yourself up and try to get as much as you can out of this ship before you decide to blow it and leave. Deciding to search for medical supplies, valuables, and whatever else you can find you continue onward through the vents.

You pass more rooms, a broom closet, and eventually you come to a small infirmary you can enter. Exiting the vent you bar the door and treat your wounds as best you can, disinfecting them, bandaging them, and choking down some pain killers. You're still in rough shape and with all the bandages and gauze on your chest you look even worse, but you feel a lot better and you think you'll be able to recover faster now.

Taking a first aid kit with you, you crawl back into the vent and continue to follow it, hoping to be led to a treasury or armory.

You follow the Vent but sadly you see a large grate in front of you and no more turn offs. Going up to the last grate you don't see an armory, but rather the bridge of the ship...

Numerous pirates man the controls, with a number of yellow robots helping them and manning other stations. Sitting in the captain's chair is a rather tall man with long unnaturally yellow color, almost gold in color and texture. He wears a heavy black coat, gloves and boots that hide his features from the head down.

He's just sitting in the captain's chair, smiling as he stairs out the window into the endless blue. The bridge is silent and serene for a moment and you're about to leave so you don't have to look at the creepy guy when you hear a heavy crash and the sound of light sobbing.

"Dad!" Red yells as she runs onto the bridge, smoking and burnt from her own trap, hands cut to pieces and bleeding all over the floor. "Remember that kid you told me to let go? Well I did, only he found out about the tracer and is running around the ship with explosives and a buster gun!" The young girl looks like she's about to cry when the gold haired man pats her head with a gloved hand.

"There, there. It's quite alright. I now know he has no idea what my plans are and has little to no relation to Metalmen. So don't feel bad..." Jupiter smiles down at Red as she looks up, injured and teary eyed.

"Why?" She asks.

"Because the fool didn't run when he had the chance." Suddenly one of his arms...pops off and flys towards the vent, heading straight towards you.

The arm flies through the vent and makes a grab for your throat. You barely manage to jerk your head back in time to avoid the disembodied arm. The arm lies backwards as if connected by some invisible spring. You don't stick around to see it go back to the captain, instead you high tail it through the vent.

You make no attempt as steal as the alarms begin to scream. You head straight towards the engine room with the intention of crippling their engines. You somehow manage to make your way to the engine room without getting caught or shot and enter the engine room through a vent just as the last engineers are rushing out to search for you.

Grabbing the explosives you set 7 of the charges on what you can tell is one of the engines. Setting the timers for about 20 minutes you climb back into the vent and begin to squirm your way back to the hanger.

You arrive to find that it's not heavily guarded, yet, but with the alarms blaring you can see men funneling out of the hanger, most likely to arm themselves.

Once enough people have left the hanger you climb down from the vent and set up the remaining charges on the other fighters. You pull some welding tanks and a few barrels of what you assume are flammable liquids and a few crates of munitions around the explosive charges to make sure they take out the fighters.

Once you're finished you select one of the fighters and climb inside. Climbing inside you close the door, buckle up...and try to figure out how the hell to turn it on.

You manage to turn the fighter on, you know this because it quickly rises of the ground shortly after you do so. After nearly backing up into the wall you figure out how to move the fighter. Just as you do, several men enter the hanger with machineguns and begin to open up on your fighter.

Hearing the bullets ping off the hull of the fighter you immediately take action and fly upwards, nearly crashing against the ceiling as you turn and sore down a large corridor/runway of sorts. Just as the men begin to pile into their fighters the explosives you set explode, consuming the hanger in a fiery explosion, throwing shrapnel and death into the air.

Flying into the corridor/runway of sorts you see a light at the end which you assume is the exit. However you begin to see two teeth like shutters begin to slowly to move down, trying to close and cut you off from escape. Fumbling with the controls you increase the throttle and blast forward, pushed back in your seat as the fighter accelerates.

You let out a yell of excitement as you rush towards the shutters and manage to fly through them, moments before they close, escaping by the skin of your teeth. Checking one of the monitors you can see the large red ship behind you and smoke rising off of one of it's engines.

Deciding not to stick around to watch the show you fly into the clouds and push the fighter as fast as it will go, putting as much distance between you and it as you can.

>>28700884
After flying for about three hours or so you breath a sight of relief as the pirate ship or any of their fleet for that matter, are nowhere to be seen.

Before you can get too cocky a red light begins to flash on the console board of the fighter. Then another one, then another, until the entire dashboard is flashing red.

Immediately you begin to drop altitude as the engines begin to sputter and die. You try to turn, but the controls are unresponsive. After checking the dashboard display you realize that when you escaped by the skin of your teeth, you lost the fighter's back fin in the process. Meaning you can control your altitude, but not the direction the fighter is facing.

Dropping below the cloud line you find that there's and island below you. However with the direction you're headed you'll hit the tip of the island. If you miss the tip you'll crash into the sea.

Engines failing and no way to turn you quickly are faced with a choice...

Idea: The fighter is pretty small. We could use the personal parachute as a drogue chute for it, slowing us down and giving us some control. That would make it easier to land, and if things go south we can just grab onto the strings and cut them off of the fighter to use it like a normal chute again.

You get in as low as you can with the controls responding they way they are. Your plan is to try and reverse the thrusters at the last second as you reach the tip of the island. However things don't go according to plan. As you attempt to reverse the thrusters, they completely cut out and the fighter takes a nose dive into the ground. You're thrown around inside the fighter, the safety harness digging into your chest as the fighter smashes and slides across the ground, almost skipping light a stone into the water before sinking like a rock.

Head bleeding and sinking deeper every moment, you unbuckle yourself, shoulder your bag, take a deep breath, and open the door. Water floods into the fighter, pushing you back into the seat. You get your footing and kick off, swimming as fast as your legs and dwiddling oxygen supply can carry you, slowly making your way towards the surface. You feel the tight, suffocating need for air stab at your lungs as the surface gets closer and closer.

You think you're about to die but your head breaks the surface just as you open your mouth and begin sucking in air. Bag weighing you down, it takes you 35 exhausting minutes to get to shore.

Flopping down onto the sandy beach you lay on your back, gasping and panting, just resting for a few moments.

"Smaller, is not safer." You remind yourself, seeing the last few air bubbles come to the surface as the fighter sinks to the bottom of the sea.

Our best defense at the moment is the legal protection of being a normal citizen. You can bet your collective asses that we're going to be seeing those guys again. We need to be seen as trying to make contact with the local authorities ASAP. If we look like we're trying to lie low, we'll immediately cast suspicion on ourselves. Beeline to the city, waving arms at anything flying over head. If we make it to town before meeting anyone, go straight to the cops. Make absolutely sure we end up on the right side of the law.

For now. Who knows what comes later?

Checking your bag you find that everything is wet. The blue prints are still readable, but your Buster Gun and that part you stole from Red are totally soaked. You hop that they'll be OK once you let them dry out but you're safe in the fact that your Zenny aren't effected by water.

Shouldering your bag you begin to make your way as far away from the crash site as possible. You decide to make your way into town, sticking to the road in the hopes of running into the police. At the moment you need to stay on the right side of the law. After all, you're broken, battered, wet, and just a kid. If you approach the authorities and tell them how you escaped from the pirates then they'll probably less likely to think you are a pirate.

Just as you think that, you see and hear a few police cruisers coming down the road. Waving your arms, they pull over to the side and several armed officers step out. You immediately begin to tell them what happened....
------------------------

After a ride down to the station and a long chat with the rather friendly Chief of Police, you're safe in the fact that the authorities now know you're not a pirate. In fact they're quite happy to hear of your safe escape and your warning of the pirates location.

"I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself. My name is Kingston, Chief of the Schlaf Island police department and an advisor for the local militia. I just called the mayor and she's very thankful that you came to us with this information. Our militia is small and we probably won't be able to attack the pirates, however we can warn other islands near us of their presence and inform the larger forces of their whereabouts. Well, if I got an Buster, I be using it to shot shit. Maybe use rocks or cans or bottles to shot shit up.

But I take the Buster Gun Proficiency. Getting that Charge shot and mastery will allow us to use it with no knockback or recoil...Wait, buster don't have recoil do they?
>>
>>28702384
I don't know about that, some of the reaverbots could wreck cities if they actually wanted to. They're just downplayed since they are permanent guards.
>>
>>28702165
Well, the Red Skulls probably know where we crashed and will come this way after they repair their ship.
At least we have time to recover, train a bit, find a job and improve our equipment before facing them, an angry engineer chick and whatever was imprisoned in that refactor.
>>
>>28702470
Willy's creation wrecked cities too. By extension, Willy wrecked most of the world thanks to the maverick virus.

>>28702475
I have a feeling Red was also into a refractor until recently.
>>
>>28702383
At this point, we should have a pastebin for all the parts we have and what the blueprints say so that they don't clog up the thread.

Don't really want to waste time telling Bass to read stuff in his own inventory either.

>>28702475
which is why we should probably get that figher up and running again. Megaman could never really do much without the airship or boat thing.
>>
>>28702517
Good idea. I'll have that finished by the time Chapter 3 rolls around.
>>
>>28702384
Light created Megaman and X while Wily created Bass and Zero.

Megaman could have conquered the world if he wanted as well Bass.

X and Zero are reality warpers

X systems can ADAPT to ANYTHING with the X
limitless potential

And Zero with his Zero Space Generator allowing him to do shit with space

I'm not joking when X got them time stops and Black hole guns. Heck, His Nova strike is weaponize FTL attack which X moves at sufficient velocity.
>>
>>28702503
She probably was. The Red Skulls apparently attack islands that have those things in order to dig up what's inside of them.
At least we slowed them down for a bit - hopefully enough to help us prepare for whatever's going to happen next.
>>
>>28702517
We should probably invest into some proper armor too. We are going to be doing a lot more later on, so having something to prevent us from suffering horrible death would be a good idea. Maybe we can find a benefactor? I bet Metalman had a boss. Maybe some old man with waggly eyebrows.
>>
>>28702629
As long as it's not Weil. Don't really like having undead robots walking around, thank you very much
>>
>>28702629
We should seek out Metalman. He's most likely the guy to hire us.
And some armor would do us good.
>>
>>28702624
It look like we are dealing with Roll from Megaman Legend. Look like she got imprisonned into a refractor after the events of MML2, before she managed to get Megaman off the moon.

Pretty sure Bass is being similar to megaman trigger.

I'd figure it'd be more about how everything landed in his lap. I mean, he already had everything going for him to be the best Digger while Bass had to work his way and get tortured by his crazy ex.

It's sort of why I picture that if Bass is a Trigger, he's a defunct one because he was too 'weak'. Stupid megaman, being better at everything in both lives. We'll show him!
>>
>>28702583
Pretty much this. X and Zero's full power is kind of danced around in the games, because there's just not any good way to render it in gameplay. Their names are abstracts for a reason. X = Limitless potential, infinite adaptation. Zero = Oblivion, from which all things come.

yfw it was confirmed in Rockman Zero Perfect Memories that Wily didn't create the virus

Light did.

Megaman X suffering circuit had a glitch, this glitch is in all reploids and the glitch got to zero by sigma, creating the Sigma Virus and infecting the Zero virus, Fucking Light. It your fault for making the MOST IMPORTANT THING for X to be glitch. Fuck, I bet you left the glitch because you wanted X to be an Pacifist and never kill humans, only sentient robots. Light is fucking racist.I bet He thinks Weil shoulden't get murder for almost destroying the world but Zero knew better. Heck, Zero can be call superior to X because he SURPASS his programming while X died to them.

Fucking Inafune, Stealing all of X character development and giving it to Zero. You got your damn wish for getting Zero to be the main character while X got killed by a faggot and then killed by the original Zero body. You fucker.

Perfect Memories is a series of books about Megaman. They're like the exclusive DVD set with all the behind-the-scenes extras about the making of the product, including developer reviews. Concept art, oceans of cut material, etc.

>>28702991 Has it mostly right. What Wily made was basically a digital phylactery, suspending himself inside the code of this new invention of his that would later be called Zero Space. It's based on the evil energy stuff he found in MM8. The flashback scene in X4 is probably the most important scene in all of Megaman, because it's where a few series-forming things happen. X's Suffering Circuit, the thing that makes him OCD about morality, which was copied (even more faultily) into all reploids interfaced with Zero when Sigma cracked his head crystal. Zero's hyper-violent programming and the Suffering Circuit's obsessive need to ethically deconstruct things imprinted together on this Zero Space, creating a 'personality' for it. It's now a floating cloud of ultra-aggressive sentiment with a hyper-paranoid mindset. It's now a virus. Any reploid that contracts it becomes vehemently revolutionary, going to extraordinary lengths to tear down establishment. A Maverick. But Zero Space isn't just floating data, it's a breakdown of the barrier between digital and physical, which is what happens in X5 when the virusbomb Eurasia hits and leaves a gigantic neon crater; reality is being rewritten based on Wily's archives, which is why the stages and bosses are from MM Classic.

On the upside, Zero is imprinted upon by Sigma's world-class leadership programming and the Suffering Circuit itself (which he lacked entirely, not being a reploid.), turning him into a hyper aggressive but ultimately bro-tier Warforged Paladin of Awesome.

On the down-down side, Sigma becomes a walking source of this new thing called the Sigma Virus.

Anyways. The point is that the Virus is actually a combination of X and Zero.

Pic extremely related.

Perfect explaination, 10/10.
>>
>>28703314
>Virus infects all, moves through space without carrier vectors
>X5 says its become powerful enough to afflict humans
>Warps things physically into powerful engines of destruction
>Victims attempt to destroy everything that isn't also a victim
>Can more or less rewrite reality
>Elder entity exists within it, pulling strings from the other side

And they still haven't gotten FTL technology.

What bullshit.
>>
>>28703484
Teleport is technically as fast as light, so they're almost there...(for hundreds of years).

Really though, the only problem is that Zero Space has a 1:1 space symmetry with the Real World. Bump that up to 8 or more and extend it into space and you've got FTL.

>>28703314
I replayed X5 recently, still not getting the story, this was a really good explanation of just what the virusbomb did and why.
>>
>>28704050
Yeah, Megaman has some really incredible lore that it does no favors to anybody trying to understand it.

You are now aware that in the original story of Megaman Zero, there was no Copy X. It was actually X, having finally lost his mind to centuries of bloodshed that his glitching out Suffering Circuit simply could not allow him to accept. Now consider that while this was in the planning stages, Megaman X4 had just released. Rewatch the endings to that game. Both of them, yes, ESPECIALLY the one with Zero's famous line.

X states that he fears for the future in which he becomes a Maverick, in spite of Mavericks having just now been shown to be a hollow term that the government labels any and all rebellious reploids, whether or not they have the virus. And he asks Zero to kill him if it ever happens, even being aware of this. X's moral of the story is "I'd rather die than be one of those fucking separatists." It's the beginning of his shift from Neutral Good to Lawful Neutral.

Zero's ending, and above all else his line "What am I fighting for?", foreshadows his own alignment drift, as it were. Zero's been Lawful Good the whole time. He takes orders, he upholds justice, fights the good fight, and goes home at the end of the day with the adoration of his peers. Iris' death and the Repliforce scandal forces him to realize that the Maverick distinction is a sham and the whole conflict was really just a power grab to prevent succession of a significant military threat to the powers that be, and his cornily delivered line was not so much a question as a demand for his world to make sense. The law is dead in his eyes. Good must be for its own sake, or it is not. Zero becomes Chaotic Good.

Then comes what was to be the finale of the X series, 5, with Zero disappearing in even the best ending.

The next time we were supposed to see the world, X has turned Lawful Evil, and the Chaotic Good hero is reawakened to face him.

It lore but it Inafune just wanting Zero to be the main character. That literal the only reason.

What a dick.
>>
>>28704276
I knew about the Copy X thing, but I am interested on your take in the ending of X4. From what I could tell, X's line seemed to foreshadow how the virus works in X5, with X fearing for his own sanity despite being quite resistant to the virus.

He grows to fear/hate the virus and fights Zero because of it, regardless of the ending you get. In another sense, it does feel like his alignment was shifting at that point by allowing his fear of the unknown to guide his actions.

I wouldn't say Zero became flat out chaotic, but I agree that the law became dead in his eyes. His search for a purpose carries into MMZ, where he never really had a reason to fight, doing so because he trusted what someone else was doing was right.

Now that i think about it, just how painful would it have been for Zero if he remembered his time as a Maverick Hunter while talking to the people in the Resistance? He was treated the same way, admired and adored, but the only thing he could do was kill.

That's why he went to sleep to be researched on, and that's why he trusted Ciel so much: because their/her end goal was to CREATE something from all this, and actually end the fighting.

Nope! It wasn't Inafune's idea to make X the badguy, though it obviously was him that wanted a series with Zero as the protagonist. It was the other leads of the Zero series, who initially brought it up as a joke.

They were trying to figure out a main antagonist, wanting to leave Sigma to rest, and somebody said, "Heh, what if it was X?"

The rest is history.

>>28704553
True, though the reason he went to sleep for 'research' was to excise a literal part of him that was actively generating Maverick Virus. It's foreshadowed in several places that Maverick outbreaks tend to follow Zero for 'some reason'. It may have been the Zero Space Generator itself, but we don't know. What we DO know is that the excised component was researched and is what led to the development of Cyber Elves in the first place, and that the piece taken from him was eventually turned into Mother Elf. Later corrupted into Dark Elf to return it to its original purpose of destructive power. That's why Zero claims she feels familiar; she was literally a part of him. (Actually, I take my earlier statement back. It couldn't have been the Zero Space Generator, because Omega still has it and starts causing cyberspace breeches just by existing in Zero 3.)

Also, a little personal theory that's totally conjecture: X canonically got the Ultimate Armor from Light at the end of X5, and uses it on you if you play as Zero in the next to last level. So he has it. We know he has it. He also has no reason to _not_ use it, as it has no downsides. Even Copy X uses a version of it when he fights you. Command Mission is chronologically the last game in the X series, taking place in 22XX, where X mysteriously has a ramped up design, and his buster can do things like fire cluster munitions without having to be upgraded. Also consider the colors of the design. Darker blues, black underlayer, gold trim.

I posit that Command Mission X is actually just finally wearing the Ultimate Armor as his stock equipment, and the X we've been playing as through the whole X series was actually unfinished. Put X and Zero next to eachother. X looks like an unfinished template compared to Zero's complete product. The various armors that Light has been giving you the whole time have been hold-me-over patches while he works on what was supposed to be X's actual loadout, left incomplete by the doctor's untimely death from illness. Why would he arm X with the Ultimate Armor, even if it was finished, before he had finished testing that whole Suffering Circuit thing that would make or break X as a project?

tl;dr Command Mission X is not a redesign in-universe, but his body finally being brought up to original design spec.
>>
>>28704667
You know, the more I look at the megaman series, the more I realize that if Dr Light just let Dr Wily have most of the credit, most of this would never happen.

Truely Dr Light is the greatest villain and Dr Wily is a unsung hero.

I like the Drill armor, but the problem still the same: the basic armor looks great, but they kinda pulled the pacifist and megamanning out of the pacifist megaman and left a generic hero on a mission, giving him bigger and bigger weapons to use.

Would be nice to see armor capsules in full Command Mission graphics, though

Naw, X has used missiles plenty of times before. Usually just with a gimmick, like the remote control ones in 5. Hell, in the first first game he had Homing Torpedo, which was a rapid fire homing rocket launcher. And he had wings non-canonically as early as X4 with the Ultimate Armor, which he canonically got in X5. (As well as the Falcon Armor, whose entire function was flight.)

Have some kung fu action X, animated by one of the guys who animates RWBY. I like to imagine X and Zero actually doing their missions like this, the relatively slow gameplay reflecting the restrictions of the genre rather than their actual power. (Which is the case, but still.)

Zero, played straight, is a Kingdom Hearts protagonist in terms of technique.

He's working with Monty Oum on a series that's more or less about crazy fights. Lots of people don't like it for its plethora of anime tropes and cliches, subpar voice acting, and the entire first season (about the length of a feature movie) is more or less setting up the cast and world.

But if you can get past that, it's a great way to burn two hours.

Here are the trailers, in order, which are turning out to be very plot relevant somehow.
