Anna is aware of you admiring her, and when in a moment of mischief you lean backward and use your foot to try and nudge her, she reacts in a flash. Her body above the waist hardly moves as her right leg lifts, curls, catches your intruding foot in mid air and stomps it onto the wooden floor.

'Ow! Ow ow ow!' You say, somewhat jokingly; she isn't holding you hard. 'Okay. You win. That was quick.'

'Course it was.' Anna lifts her foot. How does she manage to tread on you this hard? 'And that was rude, undressing me with your eyes.'

'I wasn't *undressing* you with my eyes, come on.' Probably time to change the subject. 'So tell me more about that guy who's doing the gardening... landscaping thing. What's it exactly? And how do you get these jobs?'

'Oh, this one's a university thing.' Anna shrugs. 'You just... well, you kind of have to build up a network I guess. Especially if you're serious about that fight for justice thing. I'm all for it if we get paid, reasonably, but we won't find jobs without some local networks.'

That's admittedly true. There must be ways to find intelligence quickly, of course...

'Oh, that! Yes.' She sits up. 'Well, it's basically taking place at Whitegrove in the Peninsula. Basically Antsy, who's the guy who moves the statues and whom you'll be helping, needs help moving a few, uh, statuettes from Hangton to Whitegrove. If you want, I could get him to come over here earlier and pick you up before going to Hangton.'

'So... where is Hangton, and where is Whitegrove?'

'Hangton's a shithole farther north of here. Was like some sort of government settlement estate 30 years ago, fell apart, the place is basically a big slum now. But some of the blocks and factories have become art studios, so the place has got a pretty arty feel about it. Antsy... well, he likes supporting art, so he's getting some stuff from there, to help landscape some dude's house in Whitegrove. Not *normal* Whitegrove-' then she realises she's talking to someone with no idea what normal Whitegrove is. 'Well. Normal Whitegrove is apartment blocks in big rows. But the hills have some pretty nice private estates. So it's one of those.'

'Makes sense.'

'Mmm. Course it does.'

Then ask for suggestions on building network.
>>
>>28735333

'Also,' the urge for honesty grabs you for no apparent reason, 'I'd just like to say I was checking you out because you *do* have a nice body.'

Anna's look when that sinks in almost makes you want to get up and get ready to defend yourself right now, but then she props herself up, arms behind her, and flashes a broad, wry grin. Almost like she's charmed by your sheer stupidity. 'That's a lovely thing to say, Mr. Landlord.'

'Well, it's what I think.'

'Man, I can't think what a monster you'd be with the ladies in the City,' she shakes her head. 'They do fall for this shit quite easily. Well, quite a few of them.'

'So you don't?' A smile comes more easily to you now. What do you mean, 'would', Anna? You have been a monster with the girls where you came from. And, uh, as was proven by the manner in which you started this morning, you've still got that monstrousness. 'Also, so how do you build a network? I was thinking we should probably start with Lotus Ponds. And like nearby areas.'

'I'm in school so I've already got a circle. But if you're interested in this area, then... I don't know. Bars, restaurants, taxi drivers, pubs - you know, these places are where you end up meeting interesting people or hearing about them.'

Errol and Jake, those two weirdo taxi drivers who did however bring you home for free after your embarrassing episode, come to mind. 'Bars and pubs? Like, just sit there and listen to gossip?'

'Nah. Go straight to the staff.' Anna gets up, and as you watch, she sits lightly on the armrest, crosses her legs and leans all across the back of your seat. As you look at her legs, her voice comes with a hand on your shoulder from behind. 'Use your non-fighting related talents. Which, to be honest, are the only talents you really have right now. Sorry...'

Hey...

That was a little insulting, but you can take that in stride. Instead of saying anything, you simply lean back, which rests your head against Anna's neck and chest; you can feel her fidget in surprise, before the arm on your shoulder slides, alluringly, up to your collarbone and-

OWWW! You sit up to get away from her grip as Anna laughs. 'Holy shit, how did you-'

'It's a pain point. Happens to all people.' She points at the middle of her own collarbone, shoulders moving a little to accentuate the little dip and its shape. 'Brush up on these things. Or get another two tenants who can fight and then just become our agent or something.'

'How insulting. Tsk tsk.' You consider something to temper her a little, and then light on a possibly dangerous option. Well, no harm trying. 'You know, Anna, last night...'

'What about it?'

'That woman. The blonde one. Sinead, was it?' Both of you sit properly at the mention of that name, for some reason. 'Um... you don't have to say who she is or any sort of history if you don't want to. Was just wondering if we're liable to have her hit us again.'

'She's unpredictable, that woman. I don't know.' Anna's face is now sombre, completely changed from the previous teasing. Rubbing her forehead, she continues. 'To be honest with you, she's actually my senior. Same master, began learning a few years before I started.'

'What?' But then you begin recalling the girl's attacks. The strange, fluid, powerful mobility and litheness in her body. You can believe that, actually. 'So she's after you?'

'Not me. You. Fourth Master's successor - or so she thinks you are.' But then Anna shrugs. 'Then again, if I was the one who had walked out, she probably wouldn't have minded bottling me either. She's ambitious, travels a lot, likes fighting. And likes working as a contractor for the rich and great, too. That must be why the City's drawn her in.'

'We'll meet her again then, I bet.'

'You know, I think so.' Anna makes a low, whimpering noise at that thought, rubbing her face and forehead, and you pat her back. 'She's nothing but trouble. I'm sorry. I'll handle her as well as I can, though.'

'On a brighter note, you have a point about bartenders. Maybe taxi drivers too.'

'Are you already considering finding someone to pump?' She narrows her eyes, as you do. How uncouth. 'You're indefatigable, aren't you? But the big pub near the station is defo open for brunch. Maybe before you meet the other tenant?'

'If you'll be my wingwoman, I'll go,' you give your silliest grin. 'I mean, yes I'm attractive, but I'm also terribly shy and very reticent.'

'If you'll buy me brunch, I'll be your wingwoman, sure.'

How does one refuse this, eh? You shower, get changed, and soon you're several shops down the street from the train station, at the entrance of the... Twelve Bells, is that how it's read? This font is bloody incomprehensible. You move on in front of Anna and open the door for her, and after her mild initial surprise she smiles genuinely. Her genuine smile is pretty. 'Cheers.'

Closing the door, you follow Anna to a seat near one corner, from which you can cast an eye over much of the interior. Damn, it's odd you didn't notice this place while you were walking around town the other day, but it's... actually a lot nicer than that other place you went to. The floor is carpeted, the bar is a nice cherry wood construct. Several old and middle-aged people sit in pairs or triplets, most watching what seems to be a football telecast; farther down, there's a table of maybe five or six people in conversation, the only big group. Anna nudges you. 'Eh?'

'You're in luck.' The bartender this morning is a petite girl with red and blonde streaks in her hair, who looks like she forgot to take off her minidress and heels from last night. Or her make-up. 'What do you do when you go to restaurants where they have pretty girls as their selling point?'

'Hmm? What, like Booters or the Luncheon Club?'

'Good to know you're up to date on those. Yeah, that.'

'Well, if I go to those places, it's never with a pretty girl already with me.'

'I don't know if you're just being sweet, again, or being really cocky.' Anna takes the menu, slaps it on the table. Today she seems to be moving in a certain, loose-limbed manner. 'Nah, it's cocky. So you know what to do already. Do it.'

'I'm not buying you brunch for free, mate. You said you'd do it so do it.'

'Look, you're clearly an adult, and if I have to go and talk on your behalf-' but meanwhile you glance up behind Anna's seat and quickly hold up a hand to stop her. She understands what you mean immediately, thank goodness, and when the tender comes up behind you she's smiling. The girl's black dress show off her rather perky chest, and also sets a nice contrast against her rather fair skin.

'Is everything all right?' That's a pretty high-pitched voice. Anna takes control of the situation with her own, definitely not-high-pitched voice.

'Yes, great. Thanks. Do I order...'

'At the bar, please.' She glances at you before leading Anna away. You get up, and then head towards the table of the huddled men - many of them bespectacled, some with beards, one rather... huge - and try to hear what they're talking about.

By a stroke of luck - or, rather, pretty poor conspiratorial skills - you realise there's a wash basin outside the toilet which allows you to clean your hands while eavesdropping on the group sitting not too far from you. Then again, it doesn't really sound like they're conspiring; they're speaking with normal voices.

'There has to be a way to save it, man,' one of the beards says.

'Not unless we can raise the money. And, I mean - that's a lot of money in such short notice.'

'It's all because they took that loan to pay the previous instalment back, as well... we've been driven from banks to loansharks, basically...'

... this sounds troubling. You wonder what they're trying to save, but then one of them looks up and spots you and you go back to handwashing. Dumdee-doo, look at them nails, better scrub them well...

Meanwhile, out of the corner of your eye, you can see Anna go back and flop down on her seat again, and then her right hand begin swaying as if beating out some rhythm. Turning a little more, you see the bar girl at the coffee machine. Come think of it, that's a tube dress. Does she *sleep* here in the pub? That'd explain it...

You go back to Anna and, in hushed tones, begin talking about what you heard from those few dudes. 'Hey, don't turn and look! It's really obvious.'

'Oh yeah, sorry.' She pretends to brush her hair and looks back. 'Save something? Raise money?'

'That's what I heard. What do you think it is they're trying to save?'

'If they're borrowing money to pay the previous instalment back, it must be some sort of... I don't know, building? Club? Or they're digging up a park or something and the people couldn't afford to buy back the land? That happens.'

That... actually that sounds like it could be a job for the lot of you. You could show some loansharks what for, definitely, right? But then, as you think more, you glance up and catch the bartender looking at you. She looks back towards the coffee machine, but the smile on her face suggests that whatever Anna's said, it's worked. 'Uh, Anna. So what'd you use on her?'

'Hmm?' Anna twitches a little, but retains her composure. 'Oh, uh... I told her...'

'What?' Bad feeling washes over you. Maybe that's a mocking smile... also, Anna is clearly stifling laughter now.

'I... I told her... you were uncertain about your sexuality. And that I brought you here... to look at her and check for reactions.' She covers her mouth. 'Score, though! She says her hotter colleague's doing the afternoon shift...'

Oh dude. What? You roll your eyes in frustration and try to stifle a groan. Actually, why stifle it? 'That's dumb.'

'No it's not. Look at the reception.' Well, she's right, kinda. But still.

'Yeah, thanks, but I'd rather she do that while being certain of *my* sexuality.'

'I'm sure she is. You just have to pretend not to be.'

'I'd much rather not-' but then she comes up with your coffees and you zip it again. As she puts them on the table, the girl tidies her hair and looks at you.

'Could you help me take the breakfasts, please?' That's a strange question from someone trained to carry a shitload of plates, but between embarrassment and a prospect, you follow suit. The heels make her walk more appealingly as well, attracting gazes from some of the old folk as she brings you to - holy shit that *is* a lot of breakfast. Anna, you little- 'so is that your girl or something?'

'Eh? No, no she isn't.'

She smiles, and you glance at the tag over her chest which says Callie. 'So are you really not sure what you're into?' She says, and her hand brushes against yours while reaching for your trays. 'I'd have you down as straight in a minute, honestly...'

Damnit. Up close, you note the slight cleft of Callie's chin, and the little beauty mark on the corner of her right eye. Oh, you do dig that. That's nice.

'Oh, you are a teaser,' she says.

'No, it's the truth. Then I hang out with someone else, then wham, no more. So I guess I just have to stick around you to keep certain.'

You lean forward on your elbow, closing slightly with Callie, and she giggles in what sounds like pure, real amusement. No, that's still good, that's perfectly fine as things go. 'Man, you sound like you're going to become a stalker and start following me. That's not cool, though. Not cool.'

'Don't think so.' You heft the tray of stuff with little effort, which makes her nod slightly in approval. 'A stalker would wait till you ended your shift to follow you. I'm just going to ask when your shift ends. So suppose I asked...'

Callie grins, showing her neat teeth. 'I'm just here for breakfast. Molly's here at noon. So...'

You know of a solution to the problem of shifts, seeing as a pub is sure to have many small store rooms. But then, wait. You're not completely here just to get stuck into Callie, and maybe some restraint and sense of professionalism would help.

So instead you nod, solemnly. 'Well, I've got a little work to do in the afternoon, but then after that, maybe we could meet up? Work's important, but play is fun.'

Callie adjusts her tray a little, then takes the receipt and scribbles something on it before passing it to you with a little smile. You check it. Yep, it's a phone number all right. Once you get that slip of paper, both of you then carry the stuff to Anna, whose eyes brighten at the look of the food while Callie puts each dish down.

'This is the full English, the black pudding, two Danishes, porridge, rhubarb tart...'

Wait, wait, wait, how is Anna going to finish eating this?! At the end Callie informs you sweetly that it's worth about 60 G's, and you pass her your card. By the time you sit down, Anna's already cutting the sausage into chunks and sending them mouth-wards.

'Mm. English sausage. There's places in the City where they sell imported kielbasa and cook it as well, but I haven't seen a place that does proper Polish black pudding...' for a moment she sounds genuinely disappointed, even sad. But then she recovers and attacks the black pudding. 'Oh well. This isn't too bad.'

You look on, first in slight horror but then in wonder, as Anna continues eating - she isn't pigging out or stuffing herself, but somehow just... eating, steadily, through a very large breakfast. Something tells you this isn't a special occasion for her; this is kind of how she eats.

And you know what, it makes you very hungry as well. Holy shit, the bacon is crispy and crackles under your knife, and it tastes really good. So does the sausage. The egg's slightly overdone, so there's no runny yolk, but egg's egg, right? Mm. Before you know it you're through both sausages, all the bacon and much of the baked beans as well, and you kind of see the logic.

'It's pretty good, this place,' Anna manages to say in between mouthfuls of toast. 'You should come here more often.'

'Mmm. Is it practice that makes you so hungry?'

'You need to practice *properly*, though.' She grins and there's a bit of egg in between her teeth. 'Which I intend to do, what with your brand new practice space...'

'Yeah, I'll have to train, what with your senior and all the other nutters this place probably has. If I'm going to get attacked every day, I don't want to be clobbered every day.' Pffft. You reach for one of the roasted potatoes, but then Anna stops you and gets there first, and in a fit of pique you stop Anna's fork. 'Mine.'

'Mine.'

'Oh, come on, you had most of the potatoes.'

'Are you fighting over this?' She withdraws the fork and slaps yours away, but you react faster and spear the potato, though this time when you lift it Anna jams your fork and pulls it back on the bowl. Hey, hey, hey! Engaged in your little fork-wrestling match, you hear her ask why you seem so distracted.

'Do I? Just thinking about that table in the corner.'

'Hmm. Well, you could go ask them what's wrong, though that's a little creepy I guess.' Then her face brightens in a faux-realisation. 'Or, guess what? Isn't this exactly why you're pumping-'

'Wait, what?' Now that it's a theatre, Anna suddenly perks up. 'Where's this theatre?'

'Oh, its down by the beach strip. I think they're trying to turn it into a club or something.'

'Shit. We can't let them do *that*...' Callie, not knowing your tenant's abilities, gives a shrug and then a subtle wink at you before heading off. You follow her with your eyes for a moment, and then a soft 'damnit' turns you back to Anna. 'That's just not cool. It's not like we haven't got enough clubs.'

'Well, those sell.'

'I guess. But there must be a way to save them.' She frowns. 'You mentioned loansharks, right? Maybe if we waited for the loansharks, and then showed them what for, and then we can buy a bit of time for the theatre to raise money?'

'Or help them to raise money, somehow.' You shake your head. 'No, no. Whatever we're considering doing, we have to be sure about one thing. We'll need sunglasses.'

This makes Anna lean over personally and smack you on the forehead, chuckling. 'Yeah, we'll have to get those. And suits. Nice, black suits.'

'You'd pull that off really nicely I think, yeah...'

The meal ends on that note. You give the table a glance, taking in their worried faces, and then give Callie a glance. She waves at you subtly. Back home - strange you're calling it home now - you clean up a little while Anna goes to her room. Looking under the coffee table, you suddenly see a little pendant there. Eh?

It's a little silver leaf, and you take a few moments to remember. Janice. You recall her taking it off in your house and putting it in her shorts, probably a wise move seeing what you then got up to. Well, now you have a reason to see her again, if you needed a legitimate reason... the phone buzzes.

'I'm at the gate now!'

Looking out the window, you see a Chinese girl, a red streak in her short black hair. Her feet tap as she stands there, phone in one hand.

'Hi! Chenglin here.' The way she shakes your hand is enough to confirm your suspicions already - the hard squeeze, the way she shakes from the shoulder rather than the elbow. She's just wearing a grey t-shirt with little patches of sweat showing through. 'How're you?'

'Good! A third potential tenant makes my day.' Both of you laugh as you lead her into the house. You're about to take her upstairs, hope she takes the big room, maybe tell her about her two lovely housemates - well they look lovely to you anyway. Perhaps you could even pique her interest more by showing her the dojo. You can tell she'd like that.

You're *about* to do all that, while making small talk with Chenglin and preparing for your little rendezvous with Callie, but you don't get to do any of it. Once you open the door, Chenglin takes two steps in - and then freezes at the person before her. It's Anna, of course - arms already folded, feet standing shoulder width. She breaks into a cold smile, and you can see Chenglin's face change.

'You've got to be kidding me,' she says, turning to you. 'Please, please tell me she's not living here.'

'Man, I heard you from downstairs and prayed to god in the same way. I'm not even Catholic,' Anna replies.

... right. So they're acquainted.

> What do/say? You can sense the mental fight already going on, and can't help joining in. Stay away from the coffee table, please! And the TV!

Uh... let me show you the rooms I have available.
>>
>>28747762
"Um, she's living here. I take that you two are previously acquainted... through some circumstances."
(internally: please don't let them be from rival masters)
>>
>>28747762
Where is Anna's room? What's the layout of the house like? We should probably recommend a room that keeps these two out of one another's way.

"Well, I can already guess what the gist of things are....if you still wish to rent a room here, I'd rather any and all fighting take place in dojo. Just for the sake of keeping things nice and tidy."

Or something tot hat effect.
>>

'Uh... you know, Chenglin, how about I show you the other room-' But even as you say that, she's already rubbing her forehead and sighing. 'Also, bad news, she's living here.'

'Great,' she mutters. 'Was kinda hoping she's just here after a booty call.'

'At 1 in the afternoon? Now that's just rude.' Meanwhile you consider the way the rooms are laid out, and actually it's quite advantageous to you. Beside Anna's room, near the landing, is a small room. Then on the side facing the front yard is Charlie's small room, and the other big room. You could easily have the two of them not next to each other - which would mean Chenglin has to take a big room. Hey, result!

Oh wait, not result. You must have missed some really provocative bit of conversation, because by the time you got to 'result', they're already getting into stance. Immediately, and bravely, you throw yourself in between the two of them, arms held wide. 'Hey. Hey! Hey! Okay, I get that you're not exactly best friends forever.'

> cont'd.

>>28748350

'Rather drink rat poison.'

'Rather fellate a rifle.'

'NOT THE POINT.' You wave and flap your arms. 'The point is, you may have your differences, but this is... a house of peace! More importantly, it's MY HOUSE.'

In the silence, Anna smiles and nods, but Chenglin gives you a hard look, as if she's just realised something. 'W-wait. Oh yeah. So you're Fourth Master's only disciple, then? The man who's got his-'

'Hasn't got much, fighting-wise, Lin. Though his 36 Humping Styles are clearly a hit with the ladies, from what I gather.'

'You would know, wouldn't you, Anna?'

'NOT THE POINT EITHER!' Hehe, that's a good one though, 36 Humping Styles. No wait, back on topic. 'Damnit, you made me forget what I was going to say when you said 'humping'. Oh, yes. If you ladies do want to fight, and maybe you do, please take it to the dojo.'

'You have a daochang here?' Lin leans and then notices the couples in front of that heavy metal door, and quickly runs past you and Anna to it. But Anna runs up too and blocks the way.

'Only for renters and residents. Right, landlord?' Anna sticks her tongue out. 'You'll have to pay him the money, get a room, before you let me kick your ass.'

Lin responds with a high pitched whine, turning to you. Dear god, they've both reverted to age 11...

> What do/say? You can side with either, or try to be peaceable.
>>
>>28748437
We can let her look at it at least.
>>
>>28748437
"Well you can look it but yes it only used for renters and residents."
>>
>>28748437
Oh god, these two.

Well, we showed Anna and Charlie the dojo, right? It's only fair to let her take a peak at it too.
>>

'Uh... well, to *use* it, I'd rather only let residents and renters. So Anna's right.' Then, noticing Chenglin beginning to wibble - seriously, you're using a wibbling trick? Really? - you sigh. 'Then again, Anna, I did let you see the dojo when you came to look at the house. It's partly why you moved here anyway.'

'She? Partly? Man, if you let her see-'

'Okay! Okay! Fine.' Anna sighs and opens the door with exaggerated motions, hands gesturing this way and that, before doing a low, low curtsy to Chenglin. 'Laaaaady. Please see the dojo.'

'Thanks, slave.' You're no longer sure they're really enemies... or just, like, frenemies? Chenglin, unlike the previous two, does not respond with squeals or whoops, but merely glances around the place and nods in approval. 'Wow. This place is nice. Almost like the family pad.'

Almost. Right; a family business of sorts, then. 'So, Chenglin, what sort of style do you use?'

'Xingyiquan,' she says. 'Not as glamorous as Anna's, but a lot more powerful.'

'You wouldn't know power if it slapped you in the face, partly because I've done it so many times you can't think straight anymore.'

'You-' Chenglin rolls up her short sleeves, to reveal a tiny tattoo of a... wait, is that a tiny panda on her right bicep? But anyway, she goes up to Anna. 'We'll have to do the ultimate fight, then.'

> cont'd.
>>
>>28748891

'Ultimate fight it is, sure.' The way they both say that, suddenly calm and cold, brings to mind samurai swords and people getting cut in half. No, no, that is not allowed in this dojo or the premises! Both of them reach into their pockets, which is even more alarming, and you quickly rush over to-

'Scissors!'

'Pap-SHIT! SHIT SHIT SHIT! DAMN BLOODY GAHHH!' Anna facepalms as Chenglin does a victory fist-pump. 'HOW DO YOU ALWAYS-'

'You have a tell, Anna. You're just really shit at scissors paper stone.' Have defeated her opponent, Lin turns and smiles cutely at you. 'So, uh, shall we see the room and let her wallow in defeat?'

> Keep wallowing, Anna! That's for saying I've got no kung fu.

You give Anna your most dramatic look, and she crumples to the ground, resting against the wall. Actually that looks pretty relaxed, not really defeated. 'Well, for saying I've got no kung fu and because I'm a terrible landlord, you can wallow in your own defeat now! Go on and wallow!'

Chenglin glances at you, surprised, and then bursts into laughter when Anna proceeds to curl up on the tatami in a fetal position, hands clutching her head, making a few low moaning sounds. 'Wallowing enough for you?'

'I'd say no normally, but today I'm in a good mood.' You kind of know Anna is easier to joke with where such things are concerned, anyway. 'Stay there.'

'The next time you try to use me to secure booty, mate, you know what I'll do for you,' she growls from the ground. Okay, time to go! Lin follows you out the door and then up the stairs. Hmph! No one needs *your* sort of booty-securing techniques anyway, Anna! Then again, Anna herself is quite a prospect... you gesture to her room, marking it out for Lin.

'This is Anna's room. Do not break her door, do not set fire to her room, do not pile it all up with phone books.'

'Oh, I wouldn't use phone books. Bricks.' Lin covers her mouth whenever she laughs, a surprisingly demure gesture. She seems appropriately interested in the other large room. 'This one's nicer than hers, I bet.'

'Well, if both of you like your rooms...'

'I like this one,' she says, then in a softer voice, 'in any case I haven't much of a choice... seriously though, are you banging Anna?'

At least, not NOW.

Gotta get comfortable first. We've only known Anna for a few days. Like, 3 or 4. It'd be awkward to make a move on someone you'll be living with so soon.
>>
'Hmm? Oh dear me, no.' You laugh. That's awkward. Try again. No, that laugh's *worse*. 'No, no. I mean, I'm her landlord, and that's it, mostly. It... it seems... a bit inadvisable?'

'Wow.' Lin turns to you from the window, and nods solemnly. She's got a pretty wiry build, though the delicateness of her features offsets that a bit.

'Wow what?'

'You're one of very few to think that doing Anna is inadvisable. And that's impressive.'

'Mind, I'm not saying that I find her unattractive, or that she isn't nice. Well, to me she's nice. Just that, you know, she's a renter, right? So it could get awkward.'

'Why would it? See no reason why it would. Unless you're trying to do all of us.' She sits on the bed, bounces a little, flicks the red streak of hair. 'Actually, even if you *are*...'

... is this some sort of a proposition? 'Anyway,' Chenglin finally says, nodding solemnly, 'I think I'll take this room. Do tell Anna not to burn my room down or brick up the door either. Is moving in during the weekend good?'

> What... do/say? That got a little awkward for some reason. Surely you're not going to discount any possibility, though...?

You look her in the eye directly, and then smile, and thankfully she does so too. Trying to keep a professional bearing after that slightly awkward interlude, you shake her hand. 'Well, if I might say so, I think you're attractive too.'

'What, really?' Her smile widens into a grin. 'Aww, thanks!'

'Really, of course. Like that red streak. So anyway, back to business, the price I'd like for that room you want is about 1,200. Is that all right with you?'

'Sounds good,' Lin nods, which is the cue for you to take her round the rest of the house. Anna's still in the dojo, it seems. Lin looks really excited when you show her the kitchen. 'You can use this - again, clean up, don't incinerate anything, we'll be fine.'

'Oh, do you guys have communal meals?' She hesitates a moment, then continues. 'I mean, it's been some time since I cooked because I find it pointless to cook for just one. But if we eat together, then, hey...'

'What about Anna, then? There's another tenant, Charlotte, but she's out. Think you'll like her, though.'

'She'll get her own bowl. Which is laced with laxatives. That simple.' Her dimply smile makes you uncertain if she's serious.

'What *is* between you two? I mean, I've just met you, I know Anna for a few days, so...'

'Our masters - well, her master, my dad - have been rivals for a long time. But to be honest, we're chill. Mostly. Except when we fight. And anyway we have problems of our own...'

Huh. Paul... Sinead... come think of it, poor Anna doesn't seem to have any nice friends. Dear god, that Paul is a douchebag. 'Yeah, a bit. Same for you, then? People who wander and fight for a living, eh?'

'For me it's more of a family nature. So yeah I don't really...' oh. Okay, no, that's not the same at all. You hesitantly reach to pat her shoulder, and Chenglin doesn't seem to mind. 'Well, anyway. I've got a few errands to run in the afternoon, so if you've got anything for me to sign, and a pen to sign it with, that'd be great.'

'He only takes signatures in tears or blood, the little beast.' Anna's voice makes you jump, and so does her elbow resting comfortably on your shoulder as she leans against you. That's not unpleasant, but thanks for reminding us all of how much shorter we are, dear. 'If you haven't got either, get out.'

'I'll take black ink. Anna was just really insistent on signing with tears. Of joy.'

Chenglin signs the simple agreement, the same thing as you wrote with the other two, and then as she leaves Anna jabs you. 'You're being unusually nice to her, hmph. Do I smell a bit of a crush?'

'Uh... why is everyone asking me such questions?'

'Because she's got some intense family issues, and every one of those can break your bones. Unless you practice hard. And I *helped* you this morning, too!'

You know, maybe she does. The thought makes you laugh a little inside. 'Also, your wingman skills are *awful*. Questioning my sexuality? That's just uncouth. Charlie was a lot better than you were at being a wingman.'

'Hmm? Wait, questioning your sexuality what?'

'That's what you did, you dweeb,' you sit at the table, looking out. 'Wasn't it? With Callie? Dude, where's your short term mem-'

'Oh god! HAHAHAHAHAHA!' Riiight... you stop mid sentence as her mouth gapes in mirth, laughing heartily. 'Oh god, oh yes, I did that. I'm very sorry. Ahem. Serious now. I'm really, actually seriously sorry. Do you want a sorry hug?'

'Eh...' you sit back as she hugs you from behind, arms wrapping around your chest for half a second before she sputters into laughter again. Laughing into your hair, her hands slap your chest lightly.

'Oh god, oh no... I did tell her it was a joke, though. And that you just think her dress looks hot and want me to tell her that. Did she not mention that bit?'

'No.' You move her hands away with a little reluctance. 'Anyway, I'm two ahead of you all for one nighters in this house, so there.'

Anna sticks her bright pink tongue out at you and stalks off. You call Janice in her absence. 'Hey? Who's this?'

'It's me, Janice.' Silence, then a soft chuckle.

'Mmm?' When you tell her about the silver pendant, she gasps. 'Oh. I'll go get it from you then! Maybe tomorrow or later today?'

The image of Janice lying on your chest, giggling as you fondle her gently, comes to mind. Okay, you'll need to call Callie after this, but...

> What do/say to Janice?

Callie picks up the phone just as another C comes in through the door. You glance up to see Charlie sashay in, with... oh god, leopard print jeggings? Really? At least the black sleeveless top is better taste. A gym bag and shoe bag shows where she's been. 'Hey there!'

'Hello? Who's this?'

'Hey Charlie! Hey, Callie, it's me.'

'Is Anna in?' Charlie says, loudly, and when Anna replies from upstairs she peeks up the staircase. 'Because I wanna SPAR!'

'Holy shit!' Anna runs down in another racer back top, grey this time. 'Back from the gym?'

'Yep, and ready to go. Want to see what you've got...'

'Oh hey!' Shit, Callie! You look away as they head into the dojo. 'Yeah, I'm here. Sorry.'

'Nah, it's fine! So... Molly's here but the lunch rush is pretty big. I've only just managed to get off work because the manager's come in, but I'm still in the pub. Are you... are we hanging out? Or are you just checking I haven't given you the wrong number?'

'I'm microwaving it right now! All right, I'll see you then.'

Ten minutes later and you're at the pub; this time the two at the bar are an Indian dude, pulling beers with great enthusiasm, and a girl who looks rather... Latina, perhaps? That must be Molly. And you can kind of see what Callie means. She's dealing with two or three customers at a time, shuttling between two tills, and it's pretty clear what the pub relies on for its success...

Callie waves at you from a corner booth, near the entrance, with a partition farther enhancing privacy. Sliding in, you look at her lunch - one half of a burger bun, and some onion rings. 'Is that it?'

'I finished the chicken.'

'Oh man, you're the sort who eats burgers separately,' you shake your head. She's still wearing her short black dress, and her legs are crossed under the table, giving you a view of her thighs. At least she's taken off the heels, and now one foot idly flips her flip-flops. 'Busy at lunchtime, eh.'

'It's Thursday. Weekend's getting started already!'

'Aww. You're one of the hard workers then, must be. There's a little wear around the edges already... do you paint these yourself?'

'Mhm.' She moves her hand towards you, allowing you to grasp it and examine the nails. She's got a little tattoo of a bird on her wrist. Callie then pushes her glass of soft drink to you, and you take a grateful sip. Oh god, that's sweet. 'When does your weekend start?'

'I've got Saturday off, which is quite nice.'

'Any plans for that day? Or maybe you could start your weekend now, what the hell.' You pass the drink back, and she gives you a look, eyes wide, as she sips too. 'Maybe with a movie, or something like that?'

'Are you asking me out for the afternoon?' Well, that's got right to the point. 'Where've you got in mind, then?'

'Oh, but those are full of people...'

'What, on a Thursday afternoon?' Callie blinks and admits that's a point.

'Fair enough. Let's go, then.' You nudge her to go on eating, while you search on your phone for any tickets. Huh, there's an afternoon deal that includes popcorn and drink, cool... yes, two people, that's cool as well... 'So what movies are there?'

You're about to say something, but Callie grabs your wrist and turns the phone to her. Unfortunately (fortunately?), just then, the page loads and a movie poster for a film called 'The Liaisons' flashes up. She gives you a slightly chiding look and nudges you. 'Tsk.'

Her look seems to be... jocular, you're guessing.

You look at the poster again, and then back at Callie, who's gone back to eating her onion rings. 'Well, well. I haven't an idea what that film is.'

'Yeah, sure,' she chuckles. 'Course you haven't.'

'Hey, I don't watch many films. I'm more a book and internal cultivation kind of person.' Putting the phone on the table with a slight click, you get her attention. 'So do you want to see it?'

Her brown eyes flit around your face, and then narrow as she smiles, trying to measure your intentions. As if there was much to measure in the first place, lady. You match her look, calmly, and then she lifts an onion ring to your lips which you eat. Oh, their onion rings aren't too bad.

'Or, if you're not up for it, we could always watch an action film. I'm sure there's some here,' you begin scrolling again, and then Callie finally nudges you. 'Decision?'

'I'm up for it,' she clearly sees the bait and takes it anyway.

Having booked the tickets, you receive your allocation of popcorn and drinks from a grumpy, bearded dude with gratitude and let Callie have the popcorn. It isn't a long wait before you're ushered in to your seats, only to realise the cinema is just about half full. There's some dude on your right, and Callie on your left.

The room darkens, and Callie leans to you. 'You're a mischievous one,' she murmurs. The screen gives off enough light for you to look her over, the visible cleft between her boobs, her skin seeming to shine with the white light. Callie starts messing with her hair, tying it into a ponytail.

You don't really like cinemas partly because you have an embarrassing habit of falling asleep in them. But this time round it turns out your companion is one of those who likes whispering little theories about the film's plot as the characters are introduced.

... okay, that is actually a little bit annoying. You share popcorn with Callie while the main characters are introduced to what seems like will be a rather slow paced thriller, considering when you might want to make a move. 'Ooh, I bet she's the evil one,' Callie says.

Her suspicions are stoked when the 'evil' character meets a young idealistic doctor. 'Oh boy. She's going to ruin him.' Her hand touches yours as you both reach for popcorn, but she doesn't seem to notice. 'Maybe he's with the other girl, and-'

Then the camera cuts, and the sounds of the 'evil' character moaning loudly as she rides her new date fill the room. Callie finishes a mouthful of popcorn.

'Well, I stand corrected...'

You grab a small handful and hold it out in front of Callie, then return her look with an inviting look. They're really going at it onscreen, but then you have more immediate concerns as she accepts your offer, taking your wrist and nibbling the bits from your hand. Soon you feel Callie's lips moving around your palm, joined by a flicking tongue. 'Mmm.'

Dear god, they're still fucking on scre- wait, this is another sex scene? Oh isn't that guy married to that other- fuck it, Callie holds out popcorn and you accept too, kissing her palm and fingers once you're done. Her hand jerks with the sensation and she giggles.

Callie leans over and presses against your shoulder, and you watch as the married man and, uh, is that the exotic dancer, go at it hammer and tongs. Then it cuts to some guy talking to two other guys in a police station. 'Huh.'

Huh, indeed. You grip her distant shoulder. It's soft.

Both of you put your arms around each other as Callie leans in fully. She begins to stroke your neck and face with her nails, fortunately being gentle about it; meanwhile you find your way down her shoulder and feel the velvety fabric of her tube dress.

'I don't really get the plot,' you say, and begin picking popcorn for her. Obligingly, she takes your fingers along with the corn. 'The director is shit.'

'Then maybe we should stop watching?' You feel yourself tighten in anticipation as Callie follows that with a kiss on your neck, then upwards to your cheek. It's just a little turn before your lips meet hers, full and warm and eager.

'You mean get out of here, then?' You take the opportunity to kiss Callie's forehead. Okay, it looks like your contact building effort will be quite successful... she giggles, keeping still as you tickle her neck and foray a little downwards from there.

'We could... do something here, maybe?' She whispers. You glance at the man beside you, and then Callie licks your neck to get your attention. She's got popcorn in her smile, and that you can take.

> What do now? She's putting more popcorn in her mouth, and you're picking them off her.

After a few more kisses, you put popcorn on your tongue and Callie goes for it, grunting as your hand wanders farther downwards. She leans up into the kiss, tongue fencing with yours, tasting of caramel and butter and cheese while her arm tightens around your neck. The damned seat partition gets in the way but you'll do what you can.

Callie moans into the kiss when your left hand, circling patiently on her upper boobs, makes a push under her tight dress. You feel her own hand gripping yours through her dress, but you're the one with direct access to her tits. Wow. Other than a sticker to hold her nipples in place, it seems she's only got the tightness of her dress to give that lovely cleavage.

She begins mussing your hair from behind while her lips wander from yours, kissing down your neck and tugging your t-shirt aside, her breath hot against your skin. You return the favour, kissing down to her chest, letting your tongue run over her skin. Meanwhile, your free hand finds her thigh, grazing up it slowly.

'So...' she pants, returning to your ears, 'you using your hand?'

You answer by kissing her mouth, to keep her from moaning as you reach inwards. Callie's legs shift, you fumble with her panties, then you slip through and she moans, muffled by your lips. Her hand lets go of your tit-grabbing one and goes to the other one doing its work.

Callie's body jerks and she grunts in your mouth as your finger finds her little nub, but then you withdraw from it, trailing down her slit. She pulls from the kiss and gives you a 'what the hell' look, and then you slide back up and stroke her, making her eyes widen.

'Ah-mm!'

'Nice reflexes,' you whisper, and move to kiss the rest of her as you continue your slow movements. The guy to your right - maybe he's aware, or maybe he isn't, but you're really rather past caring. In fact, the idea of fingering Callie in public adds a certain frisson to the act, and it seems she agrees.

Returning to her breast kiss by kiss, you slide her dress down to reveal her left boob. The rest of her clothes are already in disarray; the skirt has ridden up to her hips, and she's actually holding her panties open to give you access to her. Man, it's good you're near the back and corner so no one can see you easily.

You don't know how long you go on for as Callie mutters swear words under her breath, her body now wet with sweat and arousal, panting with need and trying to hump you. Finally, you decide to get the job done and plunge yourself into her, which makes Callie let out a moan and quickly sit up and kiss you with all her might. She humps your fingers, you clutch and squeeze at her tit, then she stiffens and moans sweetly, gripping your hair so hard it hurts a bit, before she pulls away and pulls down her skirt.

You look at your rather wet hands and wipe them on your jeans as Callie pants, eyes glazed, adjusting herself. 'Wow.'

'Yeah.'

'Hmm. Movie's boring,' she says.

'Yeah, it's boring,' you say, watching the... wait a minute, isn't this the policeman's daughter, and she's riding someone, and who the hell is *that*, and why is there someone in a corner with a video camera- okay you give up. Better to have Callie panting, head on your shoulder, watching her pull her skirt back down. 'And confusing.'

'Mm.'

'Shall we go somewhere more private and do something more exciting? Maybe your place?'

She gives you a lingering kiss of assent and you both get up, easing past the man who mutters something under his breath about young people as you pass. Oh please, mate, you're watching a film where - now who the hell are these two fucking?

Callie, it turns out, lives in another direction from Lotus Ponds Central, towards the apartment blocks on the east. Still, it's within walking distance, and for some minutes neither of you says anything. Then you pick up the nerve to talk.

'Was that good?'

'What'd you think?' She has a twinkle in her eye. 'You know, you were asking about that theatre thing... why'd you ask?'

Callie points down one way, a covered walkway with broken lights heading down to a large estate, and you can't help being alert as you walk. She nudges you. 'Eh?'

'You all right?'

'You live round here? Lots of muggers?'

She shrugs, and then takes out of her small handbag a bottle of pepper spray. 'I've used this before, twice. But hey, the rent here is cheap...'

'How cheap?' You look her over again, consider maybe having her as a tenant... but then she says she pays 350, so you drop it and put your arm round her waist instead. Callie giggles and leans against you.

'So, what's this thing about the theatre? I don't think it can be saved, man.'

'See, that friend of mine, Anna, she knows kung fu. So we were just thinking, why not set up a sort of... neighbourhood watch in the area? And since those people look like they need help...' you shrug. 'Then again I suppose what they need is money, really.'

'Not really, though, They've been having trouble with loansharks... collection agencies... things like that, you know? That lift.' You get into the lift, she presses 6, and then you begin kissing her on the way up, working down her hand and arm as she giggles and continues talking. 'Well... they had a performance disrupted once, actually... people came in and roughed up the director.'

'That's terrible.' Unlike the taste of her shoulder.

'Yeah. So, maybe...'

The lift opens, and Callie leads you to... oh god this isn't promising. It's quite messy, with a closet, a table, the single bed and a stove taking up much of the room. Callie shrugs. 'Sorry, bit of a squeeze. But that's cosy, eh?'

'You feeling cramped?' She glances back at you, then grins and shakes her hips a little.

'Nah,' you say, taking half a step up and grabbing her hips from behind, 'you don't need too much space to have fun, do you?'

Callie laughs, but then soon begins sighing in pleasure, falling forwards onto the bed as you massage her hips gently. Unfortunately, she's not that petite, and appears to bang her head on the wall as the falls forward. 'Ow!' She flops on the bed, hands grabbing her forehead, and you blink.

'Oh dude. How'd you manage to-'

'Gotcha!' She suddenly gets up, twisting around in your grip, and her legs wrap around your knees and pull you onto the bed. And because you're not as petite as her, you actually *do* almost bang your head on the wall. 'Oh shit. You okay?'

'This calls for retribution!' You embrace her and Callie squeals and laughs, fumbling around until her dress is pulled down to her belly. She pulls the stickers off and, well, you can see why she might need stickers in the pub. 'May I?'

'Oh, go ahead,' she backs herself into a corner as you have your way with her boobs.

> 98: Are you a chosen of Slaanesh? You are a chosen of Slaanesh, you little-

You work your way up from Callie's tits to her face, and then both of you take a little break to get your clothes off without damage. Jeans and t-shirt and underpants this way... you turn round to see that the panties she held open for you are *adorable* - white with pink trim and little strawberries, and a ribbon.

Oh god, strawberries. Wonder if she... 'have you got any fruit?' You ask, feeling a bit silly as you help pull the underwear off her legs. She's almost bare and hairless there, and boggles at your question for a moment.

'Uh... I've got grapes there.' Grapes are good, too. Grapes are even better, really. Once you come back with the bunch, Callie backs up against the corner again and you resume position, feeling her weight as she straddles you and your underparts come into contact; but the sensation makes you temporarily forget the grapes, and you just pull her in to a kiss. At some point you feel a jolt of pleasure as Callie adjusts herself and lets you in.

'Oh!' Callie backs against the corner, and then begins moving against you. That was a loud moan, and now that you're in private the moans only get louder. Your hands wander her flanks, pinching her nipples as she clutches your head to hers, and your right ear is just a hot girl practicing scales with her voice as her pleasure rises.

Finally she goes falsetto and you feel her clamp down around you, throwing her head back against the corner, hair covering her face as she squeals in pleasure and writhes around before slumping. You both sit there, panting, and she squirms a little more when you stroke her hips, tightening around you.

'You're not done yet?'

This is becoming a bit of a pattern. Maybe meditation helps this. You don't know.

> What do/say? That was... hot, and she's all blissed out now, giving you access to all over her. The grapes are still there, kind of a non sequitur.

You withdraw with a little slurp, and Callie falls sideways on the bed, panting and stretching and then putting her foot on your shoulder. As you kiss her calf, she lies there smiling. 'Okay, it's good... you didn't... spray inside me.'

'Hmm?' You're at her knee now, and slowly her leg is bending, drawing you in. Her womanhood is red and swollen, but in the aroused way, not the bruised way. That would be uncouth. Fluids leak from it as you continue your trip down the inside of her thigh, paying special attention to a little mole about halfway up it.

'Rubber's over there,' she points, then giggles when you nip the mole. Well, let it never be said that safety is not your concern. Moving her leg, you apply the condom on yourself with care, then sit beside her, caressing her body. Callie purrs, turning around to let you stroke her back.

'You know, if there are any cases of people who need help, in this neighbourhood, do tell me.'

'Is this why we're here, because you're pumping me for information?'

'Well...' you look at her staring back at you. 'Any information is appreciated. But the pumping's a good thing in itself, no?'

She giggles and lifts her butt for you to clutch. Flipping her around, you begin to use the cold grapes as a little toy; Callie hisses as you press them to her nipples, causing them to rise again. You eat a few off her body, sucking on her sides and tummy, feed her some as you stroke her to readiness; then she moans when you roll a last one in her juices before holding it up. 'Mine!'

'Mine.'

'No!' She grabs you, and somewhere along the wrestling the grape rolls to the floor and you sink yourself into her. What with the foreplay, she actually reaches climax again, crying out as she arches her back and you grip her buttocks; then, while she's already in her afterglow, you fill up the condom gladly and subtly.
