> Head Home

“Right, me and Kitten are going to head home from here.”

Everyone says goodbye to you all as you head on out of the Sewing Club building and out into the street. You check the time. 5 O’Clock. Dayum. You can’t complain though, it means you’re that much closer to Homecoming and all kinds of fun with Kitten and perhaps Eugene.

Your stomach growls a bit though. Whatever, you can eat at home. You both arrive at your dorm without much more incident and then start gently disrobing from your fresh dresses. You and Kitten thus both default to shirt and skirts for the day.

You place the book on the bed then lie back as Kitten starts making some dinner. Noodles maybe, like the last few days.

You lie back as you start reading through the book. A new section the P.100 Landkreuzer Ratte. The very definition of Land Battleship. Two naval guns, a shell bigger than a T-34, and the uncanny ability to destroy the terrain by simply existing. Fun times. You also skim through most of the other stuff, but you suppose that’ll require some further reading in depth.

> “My Tank is Fight!” Progress: 20%

You sigh as you take the Noodles from Kitten. She says, “You’re starting to run out of food, think you might run out and get groceries?”

You shrug. “Eh, I’ll do it Sunday or something.”

Kitten nods then turns on the TV, watching some Commando Cody right before OH GOD CRIMSON SKIES IS ON IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES.

You sigh. Your cellphone rings.

The Rifles wanted a turreted tank since they said they felt vulnerable in a casemate tank.
And secondly, the SU-100 is based on the T-34-85 chassis anyway, so we'll have to go through that upgrade line if we want to access it.

“Hello?”

“Gertrude, it’s Bolter. O’Hara just called me, said my expulsion hearing was delayed until March pending further view. I assume you had something to do with it?”

“Yeah, I pulled a few strings. Got you all squared away now. Think you’re ready to join us?”

You hear her sigh. “Maybe… I mean, I don’t know. I’m still mulling over what Octavia said yesterday. Just move on she says. Not really sure how to move on from something like that.”

“What did happen? Not to be nosy.”

“I’m sure Octavia told you already, DeWitt fired a shot she shouldn’t have, and someone got hurt. Very badly.”

“… I see. Too soon?”

“Too soon.”

“Alright, Joanna. Well, practice is on Tuesday. You can always come by when you get out of the Brig.”

“I’ll consider it. Yeah. See you.”

Me, mostly.

I'd like to get the rifles the T-34/85 and give the Pershing to someone else currently, besides the costs of fitting it legally and comp-specing.

But you really want the SU-100 and I doubt I'm going to convince you of my way and I'm pretty sure you're not going to convince me either.
>>
>>28745272
you can't, not really.

Both require full attention to enjoy.
>>
>>28745320
There's just no reason to get a T-34-85 with that anemic little gun.
It's not an amazingly reliable medium tank, nor is it well-armored or anything more than averagely mobile. It's strength was merely in numbers.

The SU on the other hand has a big anti-tank gun going for it, and for a self propelled gun the mobility is comparatively better.

If you just have a hardon for the tank, that's fine, but it's not gonna be very useful for us in the long run and I think we can spend our funding better.

> Watch Crimson Skies

FUCK READING, IT’S TIME FOR CRIMSON SKIES

You sit down next to Kitten and start paying close attention to the high flying action, the swashbuckling adventure, and the suave charisma that is Nathan Zachary, voiced by Nathan Fillion himself. Oh god.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eAUcZn79HI

After the whole 30 minute episode where Nathan Zachary and the Fortune Hunters raided an oil tanker using a daring plan of making a false lighthouse to make it run aground, you feel positively recharged.

Maybe you’ll actually get the book done or-

There’s a knock at your door. You go over and answer it.

“Hello, President!” It’s Nancy, looking positively excited. “I was just in the neighborhood and I figured I’d pay you and Kitten a visit, can I come in?”

You nod. “Sure! You see the latest Crimson Skies today?”

“Oh it was great! The way Nathan Zachary pulled that stunt through that derelict tanker!”

“… and the Warhawk following him didn’t!” you both say simultaneously.

Nancy laughs as she sits down next to your bed. “Oh, but enough of that, how was your day, President, anything interesting?”

Again, needs outweigh wants, and we know what's best for them. If that happens to be a turret, they get the Pershing. If it happens to be a casemate, they will keep driving the SU-122 and have it upgraded to an SU-100 later.

Casemate vehicles were highly effective in the war.

>>
>>28745489
Only because casemates we're used defensively (in case of the Germans)

Also Gertude does not know that much about tanks. It will also bring a morale boost to the rifle team to give them a turreted tank. Also the Pershing will take forever to either fund or get it to comp.specs.
>>
>>28745391
>>28745489

Sadly that "Anemic" gun as you say is/would be better than most of the ones we have at the moment or are likely to get very soon.

And we need to keep them happy, whats "best" is arguable for that and I'm not going to try to start that.

Summary, yes we need big guns and you have a point, but we're still only a small team and we need to keep our people happy in balance with the need for bigger guns while keeping in mind we don't have money for any of what we're talking about right now.

“I’d like to know yes so I don’t start ordering more Pershings, thank you.”

“Alright, alright. So, let me give you a bit of context. Late in the War, the Japanese were really all about the Type 97 Chi-Ha. Chi-Nu’s based off it, Chi-To, etc.”

“So, you’re sending us a Chi-Ha?”

“Not the kind of Chi-Ha you’re thinking. Now, this is a limited production Chi-Ha, it is vintage but because it is based off of an existing chassis, I do believe it will be cheap to restore. Well, cheap relatively speaking. Anyway, this was deployed with the Special Naval Landing forces as a close assault gun. It is… a Chi-Ha Short Barrel 120mm Gun Tank.”

“Ah, I see. Well… thanks Griselda.”

“Of course. I would’ve gotten the SU-76B, that’s a very common conversion for the SU-76M considering it’s a closed cabin, but, alas.”

“Of course, Griselda. Thanks, see you.”

Nancy suddenly realizes something. “Oh yeah! I’ve been meaning to ask you this, President. We’re really going to have a good chance of facing a Veteran team in the World Cup! Walter Christie is one of them, we might even have a rematch with Robert Heinlein, not to mention the Japanese Schools.”

“What are you getting at, Nancy?” you ask.

“I’m just asking if we’re going to be okay,” she says, concerned. “I watched some of their matches. They look vicious.”

“Heinlein doesn’t count.”

Nancy shrugs. “Well, I suppose that’s as good as it’ll get. I suppose Walter Christie might actually be an easy win. You know, their school’s really big in the Unlimited Tankery scene, and in Tank Racing too. Have you seen the kinds of stuff they do with Hellcats? It’s crazy and kind of terrifying!”

You ask, “What is Unlimited Tankery anyway?”

Kitten says, “It’s Tankery but essentially the modification restrictions from Classic are gone, so you can have all kinds of stuff. I think Christie was the one who built the Sherbrams, a Sherman with the gun and an engine from an Abrams tank.”

Nancy nods. “It was kind of bad, but their other designs like two Shermans fused together, or even the TOG II Battleship which was essentially several TOG IIs fused together to form some kind of battleship of some kind was still terrifying. Even if it only got two miles a day.”

You scoff. “Then yeah, Christie will be an easy target. Other schools maybe not, but hell. What are you gonna do?”

>>
>>28747402
Awesome.

We should cancel the Pershing then get the T-34/76, Upgrade the Sentinel, and upgrade the Pz4 and shove the better 75mm on it. That comes to 36,000 which is a little more expensive but it gives us a pretty decent lineup of Medium tanks.
>>
Ordering the T-34 chassis and swapping the girls from the SU to it might be a better long term choice.

Plus, we'll be able to see what sort of kits are available. Maybe we'll have a T-44-100 option.

Paying $17,000 to upgrade the Sherman to the M4A1(76)W makes it a very effective medium tank. It's the most directly beneficial conversion available right now. The SU-122 is actually one of the better tank-killers we have available and downgrading it like some want would only produce a medium tank on par with the M4 or Panzer IV. Right now we need firepower more than maneuver.

Of course, we also needs crews more so than any increase in the number of tanks.

The Jumbo only has a 75mm gun and loses mobility at the cost of added armor. Give the Sherman a 76mm gun and it has a decent blend of mobility and firepower to serve as a command tank.

The KV-1S on the other hand is fine as it is at the moment, and we can't quite afford the conversion anyway. We need to have a firm grasp on priorities and work with what will be most beneficial in the neat-future rather than starting off long-term projects that may not pay off soon enough (or which we might not even obtain the money for) to benefit in the early matches.

>>28747764
To add to previous points.

We have two choices here. Either we go full Wehraboo route with extremely powerful but limited in number tanks. Or we go Allied route with strength in numbers.

Either is fine but keep in mind the difficulties involved with either option.
>>
>>28747764
Then sell the gun
>>
>>28747823

Not sure. Yi was born in Seoul BUT his famous battle was pyongyang. Maybe its a combined effort like those factories on the border....
>>
>>28747764
The gun it has is has/is valuable by itself. Finding and purchasing a senshado legal 90mm will come at either a net of 0, or net profit, as the current gun is sold off.

Comp Speccing costs money just like every other Vintage tank we buy. Shouting "COMP SPEC," and pointing at it like a bogeyman isn't a well reasoned argument.

The Pershing provides a large bore, high velocity gun mated to a reasonable amount of armor. It'll be excellent to pair with the Churchill and use it for defensive positions or to keep it rolling and pinch people between it and the other medium tanks.

It doesn't need to be the "best," to be good. it provides late-war flexibility to a team that desperately needs it.
>>
>>28747861
No, it's comp spec, but it's not legal. Just needs a different gun.

>>
>>28747861

>>28747892

>>
>>28747928
And so would the myriad of shit to make a T-34 effective.
>>

OH GOD THIS.

Our Panther is the worst Panther.

Our Sherman is STILL an M4...not A after that which is a HUGE disappointment

The Stuart could be converted to an M8A1

OurCasemates areupgraded/decent. Our turreted tanks are not...we need to focus on those
>>
>>28748000
The GMC was legal at the very least. This ain't.

>>28748013
Precisely. We could spend our money on min maxing our current tanks rather than spending a large amount on a tank that, while good, isn't necessarily the best idea.
>>
>>28747892
The Pershing is comparable to a Tiger I in most respects and would perform about as well in the same roles. It would be a good purchase... if it didn't cost so much right, at a time when the team needs to focus on getting a more solid lineup. For the price of just the vintage Pershing we could probably turn the Sherman and the Panzer IV into their later-war versions and get two very decent medium tanks out of it. Comp-speccing it, even if the gun can even be sold off and replaced at a profit, would probably be even more expensive. Perhaps more than getting the StuG III to Ausf. G or the KV-1S to KV-85 standard.

Also, before we expand the roster of tanks we really, really need more crews. There are only eight of them right now. We already have more tanks than can be manned.
>>
>>28747990
>>28748000

Well as long as it's a support tank like the churchill I can't complain. But it will be a long term project, just letting you know.

So do all casemate tank-destroyers. They are inherently defensive weapons, or ambush weapons. They're still one of the few ways to get decent firepower on a budget, and with the right tactics they certainly be highly effective. The SU-122 isn't quite as effective there as say a Hetzer would be, or the later StuGs, but we could probably find a lot better uses for the funds right now.

Not that it matters since the conversion went through. So hurray, we've got another early-war medium tank. The inability to focus cash on improving existing assets as much as possible may very well lead the team into a serious disadvantage at the start of the real matches.

>>28748569
And Ace had some CP of her own, so why assume our better-supplied rivals won't?
>>
>>28748664
Worse. TANKS
>>
>>28748666
It's difficult when people are passionate about the story
>>
So what's the difference between an elite status tank and a normal tank? When the Aces get a tank it gets upgraded, but how precisely?
>>
>>28748616
We have a stug, and I was promoting the swedish panzer 38(t) to convert it into a hetzer.

We can upgrade those the Stug once we have a crew. Not to mention we have a Persing on the way so fire power is secrued
>>
>>28748680
I'm not assuming anything?

Only that in a setting where commanders/girls/aces/whatever posses a bank account of magic points there's not really any sort of 'equal'.
>>
>>28748666
Only for you, I'll still fight for it until I die though.
>>
Guys, I think we're fine with the tanks we have now. We need to focus on upgrading them to later models or things of that nature. More conversions are just going to take time and might seriously mess with the crews' abilities to adapt to new tanks all the time. Just up-armor and up-gun our tanks for now so we can keep our current level of mobility while increasing our ability to take a hit and dish out the pain.
>>
>>28748700
it won't break down
>>
>>28748700
Elite Tanks possess an unspecified pool of CP with which they can call on to perform Tactical maneuvers.

Not to mention that Elite tanks will also be extensively modified within Tankery limits to push that tank beyond historical limits and allow it to do things it really has no business doing.

Think Ooarai Girls Academy, and that ALL of their tanks are Elite. That's what it's like.
>>
>>28748731
No, that's vintage and comp-spec.

Comp-spec to ace means they can crank the tank to 120% and are harder to kill.
>>
>>28748703
If we were thinking more soundly the Pershing would never have been purchased in the first place. The opportunity cost of just getting it was upgrading the Sherman and Panzer IV into their late-war configurations. Getting it ready to use will be more. But what's done is done.

We'd better focus on getting more crews and more cash to make full use of what we do have, then.
>>
>>28748743
Final Boss confirmed.
>>
>>28748743
BTW, how do Sponsorships work? A weekly tugboat, money when we win or do something spectacular or what?
>>
>>28748750
I will kind of laugh if it turns out to not be a Pershing but an heavily disguised Sherman.

I totally agree, we need money and and crews but let's reserve the Pershing for the Aces,
>>
>>28748779
Sponsorships are a constant source of money. Take for example Casablanca Armor Museum, every Monday they will send a good amount of cash your way.

Other Sponsorships will just donate and forget, but most will be like Casablanca.
>>
>>28748803
We have to work hard then
>>
>>28748803
So how, are we going to use the Chi-ha?

I never heard of the 120mm, and it sounds like a low velocity gun
>>
>>28748689
i can accept that. if this is an alternet world, i figured some of the planed tanks that were never made COULD have been made in time to be tankery legal in this world. unless someone has a set list of them.
>>
>>28748745
So they can do stuff like tank driftuuu

>>28748779
> tugboat
Haven't heard that since Chris Chan

Anyway, what I'd like to know is how the tanks are going to fight. Are we going to bait the enemy into our big guns, harry them with light tanks until the big guns arrive, hiding in a concealed position for the enemy to come, or grind them down in attrition?

Right now we're buying whatever tanks show up in the shop without any thought on how they're going to be used
>>
>>28748803
Much appreciated.

Speaking of pimping out our tanks, if we attach improved suspensions, applique armor and grousers to all our current tanks that are crewed, that will come to $13250.
>>
>>28748880
Being as unfamiliar with Japanese tanks as I am with Australian tanks (aka "Holy shit, they actually HAD some?!")

Probably. Unless they had some sort of secret FOLDED 1000 TIMES super gun that they never fielded, chances are it's a low-velocity gun similar to the American and German 105's
>>
>>28748899
Currently we're more into the light/medium range so harrying and baiting to the heavies should be our basic tactic.
>>
>>28748803
i never got this question anwsered from Blackjack, but can you tell me is it legal to hook up a loud speakers to our takes and play music as we tank like Oddball did, or play sound clips from Sinistar game?
>>
>>28748899
It looks like we're going the middle road, we have a large number of medium tanks, a few heavies, a few TDs and a Stuart.

So we basically have a good deal of flexibility without being strong in any one area.
>>
>>28748899
It will depend on the terrain.
>>
>>28748973
Hey, if radio interception is legal, I don't see why not.

Just as long as those speakers are World War II era.
>>
>>28748973
i ment "loud speakers to our tanks and play music"
>>
>>28748899
To be fair, we had pretty shit tanks to start. I like the idea of using lighter tanks to harrass enemy forces, pulling them into casemate let ambushes. We have a few good casemates, and might be able to use them to do some damage.
>>
>>28748960
>>28748880
It's a chopped off naval gun, its probably like the SU-122
>>
>>28748973
We can hack using the radio.
>>
>>28748999
...why don't we have any encryption/decryption hardware available in the store, German?
>>
>>28749059
Because it's a Tank shop.
>>
>>28748985
that maybe for the best for now until we get more experience under our belt. the Mario way it is then.
>>
>>28749079
When do we get access to the EWAR shop?
>>
>>28749019
I looked it up. Holy shit, 950 fps? That's like...45 ACP levels of slow. Not sure if want
>>
>>28749115
If anything we can convert it.
>>
>>28749115
It is an Assault gun, they were shooting unmoving objects with it
>>
>>28749115
Can you link or do you have a book?

>>28749151
I'd rather sell it, most Japanese tanks were utter shit.
>>
>>28749023
i was thinking of using the speakers to mock/demoralize/mess around with our opponets. failing that, we could play "Ride of the Valkyies" as we rush the opponets. it would look so cool.
>>
>>28749155
Yeah. I'm not entirely sure how useful it's going to be. Perhaps we could upgrade it or something, but as it is now, I'd almost rather have the Valiant. For sure I'd rather have the GMC, but then again the GMC is quite possibly my favorite AFV of all time.
>>
With regards to strategy with our current lineup...

I guess it would be an intense game of bait and switch? We'd chuck the heavies on a hill or in a city, TDs would be in preset ambush areas and the 120mm Chi ha would be in the city wrecking buildings and shaping the terrain. The meds would roll around doing whatever is necessary while the Stuart goes scouting.

>>28749091
Honestly, its probably for the best. We know battles take place in numerous types of terrain, weather conditions, and against many types of opponents that could have any strategy between slow but big to zerg rushing.

We should keep some funds in reserve though. We'll need a little cash for last minute upgrades of bulldozers or hedge clippers.
>>
>>28749173
Can't sell it, it's on loan from NOVA. And you're right, Jap tanks and riveted armor is a recipe for disaster.
>>
>>28749216
Pretty sure our sister said they gave it to us.
>>
>>28749266
nope, it was definitely just loaned to us.
>>
>>28749173
Can't sell it though I think we can convert it.

It's not a great tank, but I rather not just sell it outright until we have more then enough crews and tanks.

Besides our sister worked hard to give us this tank.
>>
>>28749173
>I'd rather sell it, most Japanese tanks were utter shit.

Eh, I dunno. Depending on how many tanks we have versus how many crews, I can see it being useful as a distraction/cannon fodder.
>>
>>28749306
Too bad the Penal crew took the Panther already
>>
>>28749216
We can still use it. Just use it to blast holes everywhere.

Start blasting holes in the city to block roads, in valleys to create impassable blockages, to shoot apart vital bridges, take out roads, what have you.

I'd keep it if only because I enjoy interesting combat tactics beyond the norm.
>>
>>28749347
Same, I like unconventional tanks,

thus my strange attraction to the Ft-17 or the matilda, and m3-lee
>>
>>28749380
Hey, the Matilda was the only tank in use/production during the entirety of WWII. That thing is fucking awesome.
>>
>>28749347
Oh yeah, there's a chance that we might do some night fighting since Oarai and Pravda did that.
Someone needs to lob the star shells...
>>
>>28749380
>Matilda

For whatever reason, I love the Matilda. I was utter shit with it when I played WoT, but I still love it.

Also, T29 when?
>>
>>28749339
we can still move them around if we have too.
>>
>>28749115
9mm a shit .45ACP is best girl
>>
>>28749431
Doubtful. If they're at a museum, I doubt they would give it up and if they did, the richer teams would get them first.
>>
>>28749339
>>28749472
both of you stop they have not done anything to us and if anything they are becoming pretty good
>>
>>28749508
You. I like you.
>>
>>28749552
i have no problems with them and all. just saying the crew and tank line ups are not absolute. now that we're getting a persing, i would not dought some crews would want to shift over to that once it's fixed up for example.
>>
>>28749609
>>28749609
Except for bearcat, and the freshman, they love their tank
>>
>>28749609
if they want to swap tanks that is fine but just going well your in this tank now would be a dick move seeing how we let them pick their tank
>>
Okay so I'm now less annoyed by the T-34 conversion than I was. Since it means with a little cash we'll be able to 76 or 85 it up.

The Pershing isn't great, but all we need to do is replace the gun if my research is correct to get it legal again. After that we can put schurzen (we haven't we done this yet?) and whatever else.

I still think we might have been better off upgrading the Sherman and the Panther, though.
>>
>>28749670
remember we get money ever week now not sure how much but getting money is not going to be as hard now
>>
>>28749670
It's funny how we could have gone full Russian. We could have 3 T-34s by now.

The problem with the schurzen is that it's pretty expensive. Applique armor may not be as good but its a lot cheaper and we can put it on everyone's tank.

In fact, its actually cheaper right now to give everyone applique armor than it would be to get a single schurzen kit.
>>
>>28749636
agreed.
>>28749645
heck no! they need training and keeping them in the same tank as they do so is the best.

btw, is it possable to completey wreck/shot up a tank to the point it is unsaveable junk? can we permently lose a tank in battle?
>>
>>28749880
I think the tankery league pays for that...
>>
>>28749880
No. ITL pays for repairs
>>
>>28749880
Theoretically no. Practically...

Once a tank is knocked out, you can't keep firing at it. So you just can't keep blasting at it all day. The carbon interior also ensures that pretty much everything in the cabin will survive. Anything that can be repaired will be because the senshado association will pay for repairs.

That said, its quite possible for catastrophic damage to occur. The Hetzer was being crushed to bits in the series and its possible that a tank could be hit by an artillery round that would cause tremendous damage. Given these situations are rather unlikely, I wouldn't worry about it.
>>
>>28749306
Well speaking of not very good tanks, and diversity, we should think of getting a italian tank.
>>
>>28750912
>Only country with worse tanks than the Japanese
>>
>>28750957
....I'm confused who's worse the Japanese or Italians
>>
>>28750989
Italians are incompetent and have shit tanks, Japanese have shit tanks
>>
>>28751036
So it's like comparing two turds...

But which is the shinier turd. Who else developed tanks?
>>
>>28751102
The correct thing to do is to throw them on your neighbor's lawn
>>
>>28751142
Well let's keep the japanese tank though.

Our sister got us this tank.
>>
>>28751241
Isn't it on loan or something?
>>
>>28751808
All the more reason
