My people, to me! It is NOT the Sacred Time, because that image limit stopped us from finishing our typical two years per thread. It's currently the second half of Dark season, 1357; our raid for the year was halted by accursed ice demons.
Oh, praise Orlanth. I've just gotten into this game, and can I just ask why Heroquests are so stupidly hard? I sat for THREE HOURS today, trying to get my chieftain to become better through the quest "Orlanth and"... some or the other, you know, with rain-gods and what not. I never succeeded once. Why? I have a Trickster on the ring, I spent my two points in quests... What am I doing wrong? It's worked before, I know which answers I should use.
This is where we stand right now. It being Dark season, our actions are limited to in-tula, and raiding. We're trying to keep the farmers' morale up, but I leave our choice of action to you.
>>28825720It also depends on your questers scores. I'm not sure how to improve a noble's score enough to do a quest if he can't do quests to improve his scores.
>>28825725Could we try raiding again? Usually we can beat the ice demons at least once a year.
Such is the price of warring against the Jenestni.>>28825720There are a couple of things you can do. First make sure that you've got someone with Excellent Magic (minimum) on your clan ring. The treasure Vinga's Comb empower devotees of Orlanth as well as Vinga, and the Lightbringer's Scarf makes questing easier for Orlanth and a few others. Try calling in favors to help with the ritual, and see if you can learn further secrets of the quest by sacrificing to mysteries.
It's plundering time.
Jarstakos has Excellent Combat, Very Good Leadership and Heroic Magic.
>>28825896Using his heroic magic seems appropriate, then.
Something something unstoppable spear, unbreakable shield, pity we've got them both.
Notice that we didn't take any casualties. No one needed healing.Compare the Jenestni roster.
>>28826002Well, at least they still have 3 wounded weaponthanes and a handful of injured farmers. Could have been worse.
>>28826002Hot damn, we're awesome.
>>28826002>Us>No wounded. No healing needed.>Them.>Everyone wounded or dead.Flawless victory.
Storm 1. Statistically, we're as well off as can be expected, so instead I'm going to show you our new ring candidate--an Ernaldan with terrible stats. I'll be sending her to die at a later time. Two actions. Explore/trade/sacrifice/diplomacy?
>>28825847OK, thanks a lot, Heortson.
>>28826069What do we have left to explore on the map? Also, is it possible to sacrifice for better stats, because we're rolling in cattle and damn that girl's lackluster.
There's only one area left to discover on the map. Up here in the Northeast.>>28826136Why bother? We have three other Ernaldans who have naturally good stats, and could use Arroyans, Humakti, Eurmali and Issarians.
>>28826197Oh.....NOR'EAST IT BE, THEN, NOBLE HEORTSON
>>28826197I say explore up there, then trade with someone who's kinda nice to us. Or the Ducks.
>>28826274We could give some gifts to the Rune Ducks. They're pretty cool, and their cousins in the Marsh keep the undead down.
You're doing Orlanth's work, Varansor.
Really guys? Really? Now?
>>28826362See that motherfucker raising his (her?) arms and cheering at the front?Let's kill him (or her?) first! Spear in the face!
Come to think of it, didn't we just marry one of our daughters to their chief's son? Bad form to raid with the honeymoon not yet over.Onelisin has Heroic Combat, Excellent Leadership and Magic. Not that Uroxi berserkers care about the rules or things like ECL.
>>28826428#3: Lead a group to kill this dude.
Tell me, what is the path to success in this game? I've tried playing, but I just seem to fail horribly. I can't really seem to understand why shit just... Happens at times. I lose all the raids, I don't understand how to get more magic and when I try to explore further away than my own tula everyone just dies...Could someone please help a poor idiot out?
How typical.>>28826552Perseverance mostly. Check the early threads of this on suptg, it was a constant stream of bad news and losses until we hit a certain point and started winning. If you need an early edge, learn the Bless Crops, Truesword, and Silvertongue rituals, they're the best in the game.
>>28826609Are there any guides online I could check out? I mean, I see your numbers and your nobles' stats and I'm just astounded.
She hit him so hard and fast he didn't even feel it. That's our Onelisin.>>28826640I learned from reading the King of Dragon Pass Let's Plays on the LParchive. After that it was two days and six false starts before I had a grasp on the gameplay. A starter guide is an interesting thing, I might make one myself going forward.Seriously though, watch/read Let's Plays and let the game break you until it clicks. It's how we all learned.
>>28826698Death by snu-snu.
So wait, this Uroxi broke our lines and starting killing people left and right... and our healers patched up all the dying and failed to heal just one person before the end of the battle? And our thanes were afraid of this guy? Our Barntar worshipers are more fearsome berserkers.
>>28826698This will be a long, ardous day. Thank God I have coffee and amphetamine. Welp, time to dig out my mirror, put on at least two litres of coffee and get ready to get down. Thanks though man, I've really enjoyed your threads. I wonder why this game isn't more popular? It's so very immersive and tells a different story each time.
>>28826744They learned the secret of healing without being noticed. It mostly involves gathering the auxiliary team and moving about the battlefield in a giant cattle costume.
>>28826835They learned it from Eurmal, didn't they?Captcha> was polbooYes, Captcha, /pol/ would hate Orlanthi society.
We're gifting the Ducks to close the year.>>28826766It was a budget release with no US distribution, so the only way to get a copy for years was to mail the developers directly. GOG gave the game its first real platform. Since then it's seen modest sales. It should be recognized as the precursor to Paradox Studios' games, but sadly it came out before going viral on the internet was possible. Spread the word, it's got an iOS version with extra stuff.>>28826835...I want a picture of this. Anyone in the audience have even rudimentary art skills?>>28826863/pol/ was doing a playthrough as I was starting up. They played the short game, shaming the Ancestors, Orlanth and the rest of the pantheon.
Recycling time! Nobles are an all-natural, renewable resource.
Troll hating clans get a magic bonus for attacking Cragspider. Clans with Earthblood benefit too; poor relations with trolls get them attacking you in Dark season. Trolls attack in massive number, so killing them nets you a wonderful bonus to fields.Since the PC version is bugged and the trolls can't set off their apocalypse event, there are no downsides to sending old or useless or redundant nobles to die attacking Cragspider.
>>28826924I'll spread the word, promise./pol/ always brings shame to the Ancestors, though
We got a favor out of the Ducks. I think we're at the point where we might have them petition to join the tribe now. Still a random event though.
Sacred Time at las-->100 children initiated as adultsWHAT THE FUCK.>>28827055You do well by our ancestors, the old Fimbulvetr and Runic Men.
>>28827115That was one hell of a prom night.
>>28827115I think the superbabies from that one prophecy have grown up!
Nice omen for the year. I think we'll be doing Elmal.
>>28827115Was it 15 years ago that we got the omen about all children born that year would have epic destinies? Check our noble screen to see if we got any awesome ones.
Enothea is one of the Odaylans. It's now Sea season. Give me two actions>>28827225Just checked, no dice.
>>28827258Gift Rune Ducks.Trade for treasures.
I think we've maxed the Ducks feelings for us. Instead of gifting them, we'll set up a trade route with the Mule Deers as our second action.
Here we are doing just that.
Rangor comes looking for marriage again. Interestingly, Orstalor, Kentvent and Leika are all disparaging of his ability to find a wife and tell us to convince him to stay unmarried.
>>28827525#2.The guy's pretty ugly, no two ways about it. But he's trying his damndest, and that counts for something.
>>28827525How's Orstalor's magic? I've noticed magic handsomeness fades away, but maybe he can make it last.
>>28827525Tell him to give up already. He's as good in the dating game as a blind man is skiing down a steep hill: the longer he tries, the harder he's going to wreck at the end.
Unfortunately no one in the Tree Brothers wanted him.
>>28827604>Maybe he should marry a troll. That's cold man.
The Iron Plow is a very nice treasure. Unfortunately, it isn't our very nice treasure, as we could not buy it.
It's now Fire season. Give me two actions (Explore/trade/sacrifice/diplomacy/war), keeping in mind that we will almost inevitably be raided.
>>28827634Not like we NEED any more food.
>>28827691Trade for more treasures. Are there any clans who are on the fence about us? Let's gift them to make them friendlier.
Treasure trading with the Mule Deers.
It's happening. Our clan's women burnt down the Mule Deers' tavern. This is the inevitable result of getting the Long-Planning Clan in the tribe under the terms we did.It WILL be burned down again if it goes back up. We're on good terms with them.
>>28827889>We're on good terms with them....Meaning we can get away with not rebuilding it. With the omen and Elusu, we can probably get away with getting rid of the taverns entirely.
>>28827889Can we do 1 and 4? They've still got an investment to recoup but I don't want those bitches getting off scot-free.
>king's ransom>40 cowsHow likely is it that we've entirely lost any sense of scale and value due to our fabulous wealth?
>>28828001By those numbers we could afford 53 kings and a slightly runty prince.
>>28828001Haggle. Don't want to seem weak. They'll just raid us and get murdered.
Of course, you don't get to be fabulously wealthy by being stupid with money. What do we do here?
>>28828001Oh no not 40 cows curse you mule deers we have no choice but to pay.Suckers.
>>28828001I think it's just that their royalty kidnapping ring does a very poor job of negotiation.
>>28828073Ideally we would want the tavern, but there's no way to prevent the women from trying that shit again. Perhaps a substitute husband program to satisfy the wives of men too drunk to perform? I would volunteer.
>>28828073if we say "no" does that mean that all the taverns are fucked or just the one here?
>>28828073Let them rebuild it. Few years down the road when they burn it again, we can just pay them off again in full and deny rebuilding. The double-whammy of reduced payment and denying the tavern sounds like it would strain relations too much.
I said no.Luckily, Rostakos was already on his way back with the good news.>>28828107Politics will ensue.
>>28827889If they were so good at long planning why didn't they buy insurance?
>>28828155They probably did. Then they went and got more from us anyway.
So after we paid the damages, they sued us in court. The clan ring (those who don't abstain) split for 2 and 4. Kentvent mentions that the Dragon Empire had taverns, and that taverns are against custom.>>28828155They did, this is it.
>>288282253, if that fails, 1. Say our piece and obey the law as needed. A king who flouts the law too often isn't going to stay king for long.
>>28828225>You must pay a fine for not letting us rebuild the tavern>Also you have to let us rebuild the tavern anywayReally highballing here, aren't they? Let's tell them #3, maybe they'll take away our women so they stop whining.
>>288282253, This whole thing started with women going and burning the fucker down.
How much do we bribe?
>>28828275A sound approach. Ask yourself "What Would Bad King Urgrain Do?", then do something else, because he was Bad King Urgrain.
>>28828311Fuck it, 50 of each.
Fuck! Going to auto-run this because I have to step away. Also, we lost maybe 11 people and almost nothing in terms of goods. Fucking horse-spawn though.
>>28828311>>28828402>>28828424The system works!
Fucking Horse-Spawn PAID.
>>28828454It's not about the goods, it's about sending a message. Counter raid!
>>28828518Can't raid the Horse-Spawn.I should be back in 20-30 minutes.
>>28828641I meant the vengeance option, which you managed to take before I hit submit.
>>28829001Ah. Lucky I was on the same page.Regardless, stuck in traffic, will be a bit longer to return.
And we're back. It's now the second half of Fire season. Give me an action to perform.
>>28829843Is it heroquesting time now?
I rather think it is.
>>28830077Oh shit, we still have this one left? It would suck to lose our chief now that his stats are so great. I know his combat is Heroic, but what about magic?
Apologies for the delay, had to remake this image. Couldn't find the one I did before.Elmal Guards the Stead is an interesting (and incredibly frustrating) heroquest.>>28830111Also Heroic.
>>28830127In which Elmal gets impaled repeatedly. But hey, at least he isn't cosplaying a cow getting beat up a million times.
Number 1 problem with Elmal: The bonuses therein are terrible. No treasures, thanes are never the problem, not-sucking at war wins you horses when the Horse-Spawn attack, and strengthening your leader leads to boosts in Magic, Combat and Leadership--all of which you need to have near-Heroic to succeed in the quest.I'd go with the defenses myself, that or warding off Chaos.>>28830127Oh, he's also got Heroic Leadership and Custom, pity those won't be helpful in this quest. Also, I hate how big that image is, makes failing the captcha so much worse.>>28830155Don't remind me.
>>28830209I toss my vote to Chaos warding.
>>28830209I guess warding off chaos, since we can never be too sure of safety from chaos.
Chaos for wreckage, year of our Orlanth 1358.Having slain Yelm the Bad Emperor and extinguished the sun, Orlanth departs for the underworld. Elmal remains behind to protect Orlanth's stead in his... stead. The Eater of Skin attacks Elmal with the Rending Song. How does Elmal counter?
>>28830311Number 3, which seems like a really counter intuitive option if you didn't know the full myth. It's like those games that you can't win without buying the guide, only this is a guide you buy with cows.
>>28830311#7: thrust spear into its eye.
>>28830311All CP in to a Thrust attack with the Spear at the creature's Eye.
>>28830346I side with the Scholar!
>>28830357>>28830360Um... what eye? I don't see an eye.
Elmal lifted his spear and with a decisive motion drove it through the eye of the Eater of Skin. Pierced in the brain, it died, but not before harming Elmal.Normally I have to exhaust every option to down this guy. You guys managed to deal enough damage to do it on the first try. Praise Eurmal.
>>28830409Read the myth.
>>28830414Jesus, Elusu, way to one-up your god.
Elmal is wounded unto death from Eater's death throes. What do the people do to heal him?
>>28830443Tears, give your tears. It's the only thing that works.
>>28830443By the myth, they needed only to give of their tears.
>>28830443I guess tears, since those aren't exactly limited. The myth doesn't mention Elmal needing any help to get back together, but maybe it doesn't work in a quest without a little help. Regardless, Elusu is awesome enough, we should give as little help as is necessary, so tears.
>>28830455Actually, tears is worst but free. I think it goes treasure>magic>horses>tears>nothingIt's just that your magician and questor's stats are waaay more important.
The people gave of their tears, and Elmal was made whole.>>28830476I've done this entire quest giving nothing and succeeded.
The Author of Sores brings an attack against Orlanth's stead. How does Elmal fight it off?
>>28830528Myth doesn't seem to care. Spear her.
>>28830528Damn, myth doesn't say how he did it, just that he DID defeat her. Does it ultimately matter?
After a long battle, the Author of Sores was slain, at great physical cost to Elmal.>>28830558Remember that we don't have the entire myth. Knowing the secrets of a quest changes and adds to the text, in addition to increasing the odds of success.>>28830565>Does it ultimately matter? Not really, I think defeating the enemies in fewer moves lowers the heal check.
Again Elmal fell to the ground. What did the people do to restore him?
>>28830630He took a few too many hits, so maybe we should do magic just to be safe. We have plenty to spare.
>>28830706Yeah, this. Tons of the stuff for rainy days such as grossly unfair heroquests.
Our tears brought Elmal back to life.>>28830706>>28830723We have 318 horses. I think I'd give them before touching magic, given the state of our pastures.
The Maker of Bad Growth attacks soon after, promising to increase the bad things in Orlanth's stead.
>>28830772Now this joker, we know that Elmal burned away with his shining brightness.
>>28830772Pull down your pants and burn him with your shining buttocks.
Trying to burn away the Maker of Bad Growth failed when the Chaos creature made Elmal's head swell until it fell off.Stabbing it with a spear worked as usual.
Elmal lies on the ground for a third time. What do the people do to revive him?
>>28830840Gonna go with the tears thing, here.
>>28830840Let's try tears again. Horses if we want to be sure.
Again the people wept, and again Elmal was reformed.Nice dawn imagery there. What are the stars supposed to be in Glorantha, anyway?
>>28830840If tears were enough for two wounds, then one shouldn't be a big deal.
Elmal's love from his time in the Fire Tribe appears before him, whispering sweet seductions. What does Elmal say in response?
>>288309152, he gotta new girl now.
>>28830915Bros before hoes, 4th one.
>>28830915Orlanth awakened his pride.
Brethren before Chaos.
An oracle appears before Elmal, telling him that Orlanth was dead, and now Elmal needed to rule the Storm Tribe. How does Elmal respond?
>>28831040Teller of Lies, get off my tula. This Oracle is false.
>>28831040I think we have to belive in Orlanth, here. 3.
>>28831040>I would not be loyal to Orlanth if I believed him so easily defeatedThough this one's kind of funny, because Elusu is king of a tribe, and soon to be king of dragon pass, so he has no business being loyal to anyone or turning down kingships. But let's pick 3 because heroquesting is about pretending to be someone less awesome than Elusu.
Damn... we're doing pretty good right?
>>28831040Gotta be 3, stay loyal and steadfast.
Elusu tells it like it is.Suddenly extra votes. Went with the response that was there when I moved on, sorry!>>28831109Elusu hasn't been permanently maimed, mangled or melted. We're doing good.
Once is chance and twice is coincidence, and Elmal believes in neither. He has a clever trap for when the Teller of Lies returns in the form of Yelm the Bad Emperor. What does Elmal say?
>>28831182I think we do 3, here.
>>28831182Give him the soul stallion.
So, King of Dragon Pass.Worth buying?
>>28831269Yes. Especially since it's harder to get pirate versions to run properly.http://www.gog.com/game/king_of_dragon_pass
>>28831182It`s either 3rd or 4th one to trick him, dunno which one gives better chances, so a 3rd one, because preparations are mentioned.
>>28831289Oh, thanks for the link!Is this the updated version, or the original one?
Elmal gave the Teller of Lies a horse that he said contained his soul, but was in fact all of Elmal. When the Teller of Lies ingested the horse, he ingested Elmal, and from within Elmal could finally recognize the shape of his enemy. And like the truth destroys a lie, and something fills nothing, Elmal overcame the Teller of Lies, who was Nothing.I went ahead and finished it because this is a bitch ass trick.>>28831269Two or three times over. Get the iOS version if you have an iOS device, too.
>>28831328Not sure, I think the updated version is only for iPhone.
>>28831334>>28831336Aw, I don't have an iOS device. What sort of changes were made?
>>28831358More blackjack and bookers.
Seeing our feat, Elmal stretched out his hand to defend us from Chaos.>>28831328It's updated in that it works on modern computers, the version with additional content is iOS only due to technical reasons.>>28831358Extra events, streamlined interface, sheep and pigs folded into cattle, fixed bugs and triggers. The PC version is entirely playable, just not as refined.
We succeeded in purchasing the First Arrow, a treasure that improves our hunters when an Odaylan sits on the clan ring.
>>28831389Aww, so some pretty major changes. That's a shame.
And then the Anmangarm attacked. Unfortunately for them, our tribe has our back.>>28831422More like lots of little things that add up.
>>28831441Where do all these people keep coming fromthey lose plenty each time they raid but it doesnt seem like their population suffers for it, is it just AI bullshit?
>>28831441Harvar against five of them. Heroic Combat, Excellent Leadership.
>>28831478Heroic combat? he can handle this solo
>>28831478Tempting to jump down and slay them, but as I recall, that went sideways last time we tried it. Maybe throw some stones?
Fuck yeah nameless cottar.>>28831472At its finest.
>take 5 horsesGood!>kill 9 farmers...Blast Earth ritual?
>>28831569How is it even possible that we lost.Retribution is necessary.
Those bastards. Also wow, 26+ frames between action opportunities.
Baranthos vs. Horse-Spawn, take many. Heroic Combat, Excellent Leadership.
>>28831620Fucking Horse Spawn
>>28831584They're the Warrior Clan. The only clan who's just plain fucking BETTER than us at fighting. Fluffwise. Statswise we always slaughter them even when we lose.
>>28831655It is disgusting. They ought to learn their place.
Managed to distract them at least.
No deaths. Much better.
>>28831751Sacrifice 20 goods.Usually its enough.
It was enough.
>>28831441Sitting in the middle of all the other clans sure as hell pays off defense wise.
At last, Earth season.Give me an action for the season, first we do this.
Fucking captcha, I swear to Orlanth.Earth 2, no event, not even a reaction to blasting. Need that action now.
>>28831884>>28831951I don't really know what's left other than waiting out the heroquests and then waiting for the end game. Are there any places left to explore?
We've opened up all the locations (I think), but there's plenty of grey to uncover.
There it goes. How do you like them blasted apples?
More tribal law. What do we do?
>>28832087I thought we got this event already? Consult the ancestors.
Not only does it repeat, there are variations.Note here that the ancestors were on the money, Kuschile knows he was caught.Anyway, more horses, fantastic. I need to slaughter or sell a hundred or so at this point.
Dark season. Can't raid Greydogs, so who are we going after?Last event for the night, after this we'll pick up tomorrow.
>>28832301The Arrmgarn or however the fuck their names are spelled? Or is that too far to try to raid in Dark? Either way I want us to hit those fuckers with a force strong enough to actually BEAT them.
A raiding we go.>>28832362Unfortunately not possible, the game isn't coded for the destruction of other clans. They just move on.
Onelisin has taken a... goddamn it, "an arrow to the leg". Heroic Combat, Excellent Leadership and Magic.
>>28832414I meant to win a battle with them.
>>28832435Either 1 or 4.
Don't move injured people.
Oh, very nice.
>>28832505Yeees, THAT'S what I wanted to see.
Well how about that. Some of our casualties to the Horse-Spawn were taken as thralls, and now we have a chance to get them back--or spring everyone they've taken. What do we do about the people the Horse-Spawn took as thralls?
>>28832532It would be easier to just rescue our own people ...but when did we ever take the safe route? Also, we hate thrall taking. All in for 3, let's rock this.
>>28832532Free everyone because FUCK HORSESPAWN!
Since we CAN lose people in this, I'm hedging our bet: Baranthos leads instead of Elusu. Other than that? All in, death or glory.
Of course the game elects a third option. That's just terrible. We'll be going back though. Death or glory.
Elusu takes center stage. Heroic Combat, Heroic Magic.
>>28832687Magic. Ride the javelin, yo.
>>28832687If he ain't got a weapon, time to break out the mojo. Go with 4 and magic them to death.
Oh wait, it worked out okay. And nice, no one was near death that entire battle. Just injured on our side.
And this is where we stop for the time being. I'll return in [X] hours to finish the year. Check Twitter (@WatashiwaOnline) for when I'm back. Thanks for playing all, hope you had a good time.
>>28832662NOOOOOOOOOO!WE MUST GET THEM ALL BACK!
>>28832767Aw yeah, 52 more bodies worth of fertilizer for the crops.(Fun fact: there is a kind of fertilizer called "blood meal" that is actually made from pig and cow blood. Don't think it's usually used for grain plants, though.)
>>28832414Actually, if you keep hitting a clan hard enough after they move their tula they'll eventually give up clanhood entirely and the survivors disperse to the clans they were friends with, did it for the first time in the last game I played
>>28833841The more you know. I've never managed that, my enemy clans just move again.
Saving from page 10.
>>28837044Saving from page 9.
>>28837044Is that from Glorantha?
>>28840727Yes. Here are some of the game artists:http://scravagghiupilusu959.deviantart.com/http://merlkir.deviantart.com/
It's now the second half of Dark season. What are we doing with this action?
>>28843450Sacrifice for morale? That or raid, but we already did that.
Sorry about that, had to step away. We're sacrificing to Chalana Arroy for morale improvement. Sometime soon we'll probably need to get Curing as well.
What. WHAT. NO! We should not be punished for success!
>>28844168GIVE THEM MAX GIFTSTHEY WILL NOT FUCKING SPLIT OFF FROM US
Fucking thanes, how could they start carling?>>28844206Tragically the split is inevitable. Nothing we can do but forestall it.
This time the thanes are entirely to blame for the morale of the clan.Anyway, Storm season, what are we doing?
>>28844320Tula fully explored? Do we know all the blessings? Are there any good blessings we should build a shrine for?
Haven't explored in a while. Need to keep the bandits down.>>28844635>Tula fully explored?Nope.>Do we know all the blessings?>Are there any good blessings we should build a shrine for?I think we're okay there.
Stag Hearths inbound.
Kentvent has an event. He's got Renowned Combat and Excellent Leadership.
>>28844819Not Heroic? How pathetic. Might as well try fighting bravely anyway.
We lost and they made off with loot. No deaths though. Pretty sure we already made up the difference. Missed screen-capping it.This is one of our two new nobles. The other is a young worshiper of Lhankor Mhy. The other one is decent, this one is not.Slightly more worrisome is the clan mood, which has dropped down to Worried. Thanks Car--wait it was the fucking thanes who started this.
it was a piece of cake until now, what the actually fuck is habbening?
>>28844997Do we have time for a feast? We have food to spare.
Feasting is a good idea.>>28845062Overpopulation and raiding. Being too nice to the carls when the thanes are riding high.
Stag Hearths again?
>>28845202>>28844320Looks like the thanes are happy but the carls are still carling.
At least this time the numbers were in our favor.>>28845246We sacrificed to improve the carls' morale, the thanes pitched a fit.
Year's end. Jesus fucking christ, it's not the cows it's the sheep stripping the pastures, we've got 4000 of them.I'll slaughter 1K to start.
Or we could sacrifice stupid numbers of them to Eurmal and Curse the Stag Hearths for 100 years. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that, but one can dream.
MORE Heroic Combat? We've got too many heroes, it doesn't feel special anymore.
Killing horses and sheep.Suggest an action for the season.
Inter-tribal strife again.>>28845557At this rate we'll outfeast the Runic Men. A fine goal.
>>28845566Divination, it's practically free, we won't run out of magic unless we have an entire year of bad luck events.
This is really pretty straightforward.
Beatings for everyone.
And feastings for those not getting beaten.
Horse-Spawn attack, but there's only 115 of them this time. My hope is that Baranthos is giving them hell even as a thrall.
>>28845526MUTTON AND BASASHI FOR EVERYONE
Karendra has Heroic Combat, Very Good Leadership, and Good Magic.
>>28845882Try to drive 'em off.
>>288458824 try to kill them. What would magic be used for?
>>28845882>Heroic CombatWell, kill them!
How's she fight them?>>28845905Part of the aggregate battle modifier.
>>28846020I don't understand this.Is there anything negative associated with gathering a larger force before charging?>hey you>do you want to charge with 5, 13 or 29 guys?
>>28846068Guys take time to assemble, time that you might not have.
>>28846068Might be hard to gather people in time if her leadership isn't enough. I think she's good enough for an equal force.
>>28846020Try gathering an equal force.
>>28846087... How much time DO we have?I guess if they're riders we don't have that much, maybe just gather an equal force then.Though she does have Heroic combat, would probably work to charge with whoever's nearby, too.
Didn't manage to kill them.>>28846068It's time based. Your Leadership stat determines how many people you can assemble. Try to get too many and the moment will pass. Try to attack with too few, and your squad dies.
Don't like that we lost people.
Fire season. No change to clan sentiments. Next time the split event happens we let the troublemakers go.Two actions, please. Exploring? Trade?
>>28846196Exploring and trade sounds mighty fine.
>>28846196What's the plan for this years quest? Don't remember which one's we did, except Elmal's this year.
>>28846155Do we still have the Bull-Roarer?
Exploring over here again.>>28846247Up to you entirely. We're most of the way to our 7 quest quota.>>28846259We do.
These fucking guys again.
About the split, do the people who bail stay in the tribe, if not the clan?
>>28846293Probably shoulda used it in that battle.Wonder which heroquest we should try...we got anybody good enough for Chalana Arroy's quest?
>>28846309Take no fucking chances, pump in the magic, go all in.
Good Leadership, Excellent Combat.>>28846324Dunno actually.
>>28846350He's a fighter, so he's gotta fight. Charge and hope to god it works out.
Injured but victorious.
Fuck.Any opposition to splitting off the troublemakers?
>>28846629That sounds fine. We can raid the hell out of them afterwards anyway.
>>28846604WHY CAN WE NOT BEAT THESE ASSHOLES ON DEFENSE
>>28846629Ditch the shitheads
>>28846629we lose some land too right if we split? We dont need *that* much land i think. That said, i think we can keep putting it off (though its annoying and wastes events?)
They're taking our thanes? Fuckers.I'm guessing we're keeping our land.
>>28846651See >>28831655. Fluffwise, they're the clan with the best warriors in Dragon Pass.
>>28846694Welp, we're fucked.Might as well sacrifice the rest of the herds to Malia and raid the shit out of the ducks.
>>28846694Fuck yes we're keeping our land. Especially if we're still shaky on pasture
>>28846694i think if we keeep... ionno 1000 or so people max we wont have to worry bout the split
There they go.>>28846738I laughed.
Here they are. Looks like they've gone pagan.Going to run an errand, back in 40 min.
>>28846801we shall sacrifice to vinga for your safety
>>28846801Let's have Maran Gor break wind over their tula.
>>28846801How many clans are we feuding with? Can we afford to start a new feud with the splitters? I want them to know the price of apostasy.
Booting the malcontents has done wonders for the clan's mood. Going to go treasure trading next.>>28847300We've got three ongoing feuds. I want to pay off either the Stag Hearts or the Anmangarm so that we're not getting attacked three times in a row anymore, but if these apostates take one step across the line I've no problem with smashing them.
>>28847822well the farmers are still iffy, but CARLS GONNA CARL
>>28847822Stag Hearths. Anmangarm have proven that they're not fucking trustworthy and will keep goddamn raiding us even if we're not feuding. Also for the love of god, get us more thanes. We're FUCKED if we get that many raids again.
>>28847865>get us more thanesGood point. Doing that first.
Most of the people who left were--of course--carls, so we've got a bit of a land crunch now. It's not that we don't have enough farmers to make the food we need, it's that we have stupidly enormous fields.
Rostakos departs to buy treasure from the Lonisi.Auto-sage, ho!
>>28847956Can we let some of the fields revert to wildland, or does it not really make a difference if we're not tilling all of it?Or maybe we can convert some of it to pasture so our animals stop starving.
The Chalana Arroy priestesses are here again to heal our sick. What do we tell them?>>28848028We'll do the latter come Dark season, you can't adjust land use during Sea or Earth.
>>28848064Have them heal all of them, we can afford whatever price they demand. Btw where did all those sick come from?
>>28848064Have them heal us. No real reason not to.
>>28848165You can give them so much cows and goods, bitches won't be able to take it all home
I hope they don't ask for cows, I don't think we could pay the--wait we had sick weaponthanes?
>>28848239Someone on another board posting at this time is possibly very very confused.
>>28844168As long as the new clan remains part of the tribe, I don't see an issue with it.>>28845337and cut down more forest.>>28846694I think we should have given them land personally.
>>28848239EURMAL STRIKES AGAIN
We're going to hire four more thanes on top of what we have.Heroquest in Dark season?>>28848239I give up, I have no idea what's going on.
This time we managed to get our hands on Vinga's Comb, a treasure that strengthens Orlanthi and Vingans.>>28848294>As long as the new clan remains part of the tribe, I don't see an issue with it.They don't, actually. The Black Spear Clan will though.
>>28848345Black Spear Clan?
Time for raiding.
>>28848394Can you show us a map of clans and tribes?
The raid failed. I didn't bother screencaping it because this proc'd immediately after. You might remember us encountering the Black Horse Troop's outriders many, many threads ago. They have come to take us up on the offer of hospitality we made. He likes us, and offers us a boon. Choosing to use Sir Ethilrist has... consequences. There IS great opportunity here, but all I will say that generosity is its own reward. >>28848388Tribal event that leads to the formation of a new clan.>>28848414Sure, one sec.
>>28848560So in other words, he's going to show up and give us something even better if we ask for nothing?
>>28848560Let them go. These guys are bros. And we'll make the best impression and long term friendship just by being bros with them. They have had many bad experiences, people seeking out help from them, or people seeking to drive them off.We don't want to do either. We give them the best impression of the Orlanthi! HOSPITALITY WITHOUT STRINGS!!
>>28848632he didn't say that.
>>288485603 unless there's a good reason not too.
>>28848560so they're bikers or do they ride dragons or something?
Pick one. They're unique.>>28848632No, just that most of the other options have horrific consequences. Thane training gets most of the people you send away killed, and there's a good chance the survivors will choose to stay, asking for raiding help utterly destroys a clan of your choice, but the way the Black Horse Troop does it is terrible, and the BHT go around bragging about how they did it on your suggestion (reducing your reputation to Stickpicker status immediately and probably starting tribal strife and making your allies think twice about the alliances), and the Orlanth stories he shares are so utterly alien that just hearing them causes a schism in the clan.Treasure trading gets you a chance at one of these treasures, but asking for nothing gets you your choice for free.>>28848695They ride Chaos horses.
>>28848695think this. but a couple of hands higher.
>>28848695They ride not-ostrich I believe.
>>28848763WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE GOTTEN THE BIT A WHILE AGO!?Still a good choice given we'll eventually grow big huge as a clan again.
>>28848763Well shit, those are pretty bad consequences considering that we'd have no way of knowing that would happen. I assume the treasures are just as bad? I guess since there's no option to refuse them, we can take the Bit.
We took the Bit. It's now heroquesting time. The only heroquest we know that we haven't done is Lhankor Mhy Finds the Truth. Performing it will bring our quest count to 7 and kick off the endgame path. Do it? (Y/N)>>28848771They ride actual Chaos horses.>>28848774That's Praxians.>>28848811The treasures are safe. The only actively bad treasure is the Sorcerous Implements, and I'm not a big fan of the magnet that cuts down on the likelihood of really good and really bad events.
>>28848895>Chaos horsesI thought those were just giant horses
>>28848895>only one quest left>fairly easy one>no other choices for quest>one season away from the end gameI don't see anything we could possibly do, so let's just give our entire herd to an enemy and then raid the ducks. Do the quest
>>28848895go for it.
>>28848895Didn't we do LMFTT? I thought we had Chalana Arroy's left undone.
Enfrew is Kentvent's replacement ten years from now. I'd suggest either empowering him or granting knowledge to our people. We can sacrifice to get the last two heroquests.>>28848921Pretty sure they're giant Chaos horses. Or I could be entirely wrong because I expect weirdness from Glorantha so normalcy throws me off.>>28849078You need to do seven heroquests after forming your tribe. We did Lhankor Mhy as a clan.
>>28849125Empower him, we need good back ups.
Storm season. While the anti-Chaos power from Elmal is in effect, I'm going to send a party to Snakepipe Hollow, there are a few treasures I want.
Warriors from our ally the Bachadi attack one of our thanes. What do we do?
>>28849424>>28849454yeah, these are allies, break out the legalese
>>28849424He's a carl, not a thane. Launch a legal claim.
>Elusu>Heroic CustomSuckers never stood a chance.
We end the year with a massive feast. Amusingly, in the main screen Orstalor's calling for feasting.
>>28849508Delicious hacksilver. Cha-ching.
Suck it, Chaos.
>>28849562Tricksters gonna trick.
The Vostangi attack...
...And are driven off.
And that's the year, except without an image because image limit. Thanks for playing all, I hope you had a good time. I'll stick around to answer any questions you might have to the best of my ability. Thank you whoever archived this yesterday, it's been updated now.
>>28849747What's your prognosis on us making the attempt at the endgame path? Are we ready?
>>28849774Barring really terrible events or sudden death spin, yes. Elusu is an amazing leader, we're filthy rich, have a spotless reputation and have an excellent stock of clan magic.
>>28849815Well, at least we dodged an event this run that would've torn that rep to shreds.
