>>28839788The eyes mutagen are finished, and high command reccomended we recruit more mutants (and fluffwise, we'd have conflicts with recruited humans unless those humans are special like the bandits). Also, Dr Mendel recommends we purify the Toxin glands and Fleshmelter Tentacles which will contribute to DNA assimilation effortsalso i feel like we should start making some defenses underground. Rolled 8>>28840363Can we try to make a cancer type mutation, but instead of entirely skipping the growth stage it stays there for a shortened time?
Rolled 17>100Well The Handpicked headed up into the essentials district with some of our usual scavenger crew and figured they'd look around where Schultz hand found our hovertanks before. A certain Bertram among the salvage crew paired up his skills with The Handpicked and they found an entire unlooted supply depot that was apparently intended for the various paramilitary training complexes and they took everything from it. Shit had everything from rocket launchers to power armor, and even a few VR pods for training to top it off it was all already loaded in cargo trucks. Seriously hit the goddamn jackpot here.Acquired:Resources: 10Loot: 5Equipment:Cargo TrucksVR Training PodsRocket LaunchersPlasma WeaponryLaser WeaponryAnti-Armor Sniper RiflesAnti-Armor RailgunsBio-Hazard Power ArmorPower ArmorMeanwhile back in the lab Dr. Mendel turned his hand towards the Toxin Glands on the Deadeyez...and their secrets unraveled before him. He found that they're actually a separate, symbiotic organism to the Deadeyez, and that the Deadeyez could feed them different compounds to make them produce toxins suited against different targets. He figured all this out...then he improved on it.Acquired:Bio-Augment: Toxin Glands (mutative)
Rolled 26Doktor Mendel was very, very bored of sitting down in ze lab dissecting festering zombie corpses, and particularly Deadeyez corpses. No living subjects for months now, that one Deadeye discounted. Vas it too much for a Doktor to ask to have a little fun with his work? ...Vell it didn't look like any would be coming his way any time soon, sooo...It wasn't sanctioned, but when you saddle a Warped Scientist with this sort of grunt work things happened on occasion."Tim, oh Tim. Vould you come over here for a moment?" the towering monstrosity of rippling muscles barely contained within its skin walked over to the doctor as beckoned."How vould you like to take part in un leetle tiny experiment, Tim? You remember the last experiment you vere in, the one that made you vhat you are now?" the Abomination nodded at the doctor. He was smart by Timmy standards. One of the smartest of them all, or so herr Doktor always told him. Tim was pretty sure that he was the Doktor's favorite among the whole batch, because that's what the Doktor said all the time and the Doktor was a good man. He had made Tim big and strong and tough and able to rip through the State's enemies like a bullet going through tissue paper, and that is all that Tim had ever wanted...or at least he thought that was all he had ever wanted. For a moment, a spark of memory that would've consumed the Doktor and most of his fellow Abominations only lit in Tim's eyes...but then the moment passed, and he was the Doktor's favorite Timmy again, and the Doktor had chosen him to do this thing that he said would make him extra extra big and strong! "Zerrr weeee gooo. Very gut." Doktor Mendel said as he struggled to tighten the last strap over the Timmy's immense chest.
Rolled 5>>28840708"I do so appreciate vhat you are doing for me, Tim. Truly you shall be remembered forever as a Hero of ze State." the Doktor filled the syringe full of a special dose of the purified Eyez serum he had kept around…and mixed with a bit of the DNA from the Toxin-Gland creatures he’d recently figured out. He had managed to scrape just enough parts together from that living Deadeye to make this one dose, and had been dying to use it. He knew it vas likely to kill poor Tim, his body barely able to handle the enhanced Behemoth serums as-is, but ze end of all things undertaken in the name of Almighty Science alvays justified the means."Und...here...we...go." the Doktor said. Tim did not even feel a thing as the high-gauge needle entered his neck. His ability to register pain on such a low threshold had been stripped during the transformation...the transformation. Tim did not like to think about the transformation. He knew that it had hurt the poor, fragile, weak thing that Tim had been...before.He had begun thinking about the transformation, and now he couldn't stop for some reason. Normally the thoughts stopped before he could remember the change! W-what was happening? Vhat is this? Aa-AAARRGGHHH!!! at some point the thoughts had transitioned themselves from his mind to his mouth. Wotan, the soldier, the volunteer, the Abomination! It was all flooding back now, he couldn't stop it!
Rolled 90>>28840756He tried to close his eyes against the pain, the tremendous P A I N and as he did so, felt lids squeeze shut along his muscle-warped arms. He felt more eyes form, open, and shut all over his body like a rash, poisons of an indescribable natures keeping pace through his veins. There was no stopping the sight, there was no stopping the agony, and he he could see everything that was wracking his body from a dozen different angles at once despite desperate attempts not to!Finally the serum kicked in fully, and all of the eyes that had formed on his body forced themselves open as skin and flesh around them began to turn necrotic. There was no stopping anything now. He could SEE that it was already too late. As the last shred of the personality of the person once known as Wotan was burnt away by a blinding light, his final thoughts took the form of a shout that seemed to echo through the walls of the laboratory, ignoring everything between him and the listeners."IIII SSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Rolled 7>>28840504I'm not sure I understand what you mean?
Rolled 91Criticism on the writefaggotry is welcome, put it in spoilers.
>>28840883Are you able to access intercoms down there? What does it sound like?
>>28841027Hmm, alright. How about the Drs test subject?Does Mendel have any idea what is down there, it screams we know that. And its tough enough to break a door. Also keep the bandits on radio standby, we may need to use one of our two yearly turns
Rolled 32>>28841076Those yearly turns start up after they build the fuel station and you fill it up the first time. That aside, the bandits are VERY leery of going into a mutant-infested biological research facility. The Doktor doesn't know what test subject you're talking about, he hasn't done anything outside of your orders aside from play around. He also has no idea what's down there, but reports that with a facility of this tier it could be anything...but it's guaranteed to be horrifying. He's actually rather surprised that something hadn't come out of the lower labs before now, if something was going to come out.
>>28841129Well, I'm considering the possibility of letting them take the base and we retreat up side. Above ground we can bring to bear the heavy weaponry and bandit aid (if we can) as flood to get out the base.Or do you calculate wed have better odds pitting ourselves mano e mano in the tunnels?
Rolled 20What does the Colonel suggest? He's good at thinking quickly.
Rolled 95>>28841235Unknown, user. However, if you abandon the base and I still do not have control of emergency countermeasures (currently inaccessible base-wide) then what ever is down there will have full access to the AI core and the base defenses, and unless my lack of access is happenstance it will know how to use them.
Rolled 13>>28841265The Colonel suggests forming chokepoints the containment doors while trying to plug 1-3 of them so that they cannot enter into separate areas of the lab.
Rolled 90>>28841306Then under his suggestion let us do just that, and bring the cadres bounty of weapons to bear.We should also plan multiple fallback chokepoints, have teams watch the flanks of those making the chokepoints in case of tunnel breaches, and above all keep the line of supply connected and do not allow sections of us to be cutoff. For the research action, didn't Dr Mendel perform his work while the vert Furorbunker was being bombed by the red army? Can he get to work on the fleshmelter enzymes while being prepared to move his operation at a moments notice?
Rolled 27>>28841389He could indeed, he reports that no useful progress will be made on them for some time though. You may want to apply him to something else.
Rolled 98>>28841448Could we apply the new Toxin Gland biomods to some of our troops with a research action?
>>28841448Well, what sort of thing can be researched to aid us in this time?Hmm, maybe giving the toxin gland augments to the new eye mutants, allowing them to toss tears of acid onto the enemy?
>>28841547>>28841517>>28841389I vote these actions at 200 new toxin troops with toughneds at 2 resource
Rolled 88>>28841694Biomods are different from Mutagens (much more complicated), it will take 2 resources and the research action to outfit 100 troops with the new Toxin Glands. You also will not be able to apply new mutagens to them for a turn or 3 afterwards, and since the facilities used for administering either overlap you have to choose one or the other to apply.
>>28841737Will the toxins be liquid or gas and will they affect our troops?Do we have any gas masks in ready supply?
Rolled 20>>28841770Dr. Mendel figured out how to integrate the Gland-Creature's systems into host physiologies to render them immune. We have plenty of gas masks/hazmat gear available, a small toxic miasma could be formed around the user by incorporating toxin and a compound to increase evaportation...otherwise, their flesh will be toxic and they'll have a toxic coating that will burn anything that touches them and they can coat their close combat weapons in poison/toxin for added effect. They would work much better if you developed some natural weapons for the glands to constantly secrete toxin onto...but will still have a noticeable effect against enemies without them. Also, general substance/toxin resistance will be vastly improved in troops with the mods applied.
>>28841905Could the research action be used to develop such weapons?
Rolled 39>>28841905Basic 1>Then under his suggestion let us do just that, and bring the cadres bounty of weapons to bear.>We should also plan multiple fallback chokepoints, have teams watch the flanks of those making the chokepoints in case of tunnel breaches, and above all keep the line of supply connected and do not allow sections of us to be cutoff.Basic 2>outfit 100 troops with the new Toxin Glands.
Rolled 21>>28842492Certainly, you have the Mirklens corpses. You wouldn't be able to apply the biomods if you use up your research action though.

Rolled 37>>28843060One for the money, two for the show, let's go go go
Rolled 12>>28843050Oh. Sensors report that there is a writhing pile of mutating flesh down in Dr. Mendel's laboratory that has Timmy DNA markers, is that what you're talking about?
Rolled 17>>28843111Dr. Mendel informed me he'd be performing experiments upon Timmy tissue samples, i suppose it's possible he used a 'complete tissue sample' so-to-speak.
Rolled 100>>28843111Right... I guess we will leave the doctor to his work...

Rolled 46>>28843206You're just lucky that was linked to discussion, otherwise it added to the other 2 100s would've ended up with this entire city consumed in the birth of a new god.
>>28843305[Spoiler]hey, thats not on the same specific action tho!
Rolled 30Col. Schultz and the Handpicked supervised the construction of defensive chokepoints throughout the complex to try and ensure that anything that broke through the containment doors wouldn't get far. The troops were handed the weapons and equipped with the armor that we had just scavenged, and manned the defenses. We discovered the power armors were training models, offering slightly less defense than standard models but allowing even the untrained to utilize them. The fortifications went alright, but my inability to deploy the pre-established defensive fortifications meant that only so much could be done. Whatever inside is still breaking through the doors, but steel plates have been welded onto 2 of the most outlying doors to slow their progress and constrain any escape.Meanwhile, Dr. Mendel went about scrambling to produce enough Gland-Creatures to fulfill our request and managed it. The troops submitted to the integration process and have been successfully modified. An unexpected interaction with the mutability of the Darwinyan's physiology occurred, and now their entire bodies are resistant to almost any toxin used on them and their blood will poison foes on contact if they have exposed portions of skin.We will now switch to a different timescale for 'turns' as you supervise the defense of the lower levels. How would you like to divy up the Toxin troopers?
Rolled 95>>28843673The toxic troopers need to be their own squad, and probably our vanguard. Historically bio/chemical weapons are used on an entrenched enemy, so I would suggest that they lead the charge into the hostile zone. Timmy's are to be used like cavalry, everybody else takes up a defensive position just in case
>>28843673Only their blood is poisonous?Does it affect non toxin trooper Darwinian? Will we be able to gasify their blood? If not, how about create large backpacks of normal blood transfusions to be carried on their backs, and a gun system that drains their poisonous blood and lathers AP bullets with it.
Rolled 10Will be a minute until next update, have to relocate myself. You'll want to pay attention when it comes though. You guys let this poke you instead of you poking it, shits gon' hit the fan.
>>28843854I'm not entirely sure if those same rules apply for underground warfare and they aren't entrenching, we are and they're attacking., and if we can't fit the tanks in can timmys fit though?
Rolled 29>>28843878...you could gasify their blood if you did the research for a machine to do it and wanted to. Alternately you could research the Deadeyez toxic cloud/miasma, or just produce/distill toxins from biological cultures and use aerosolizing grenades. Sucking their blood out constantly would really suck for them.
Rolled 98>>28843905Timmys can fit (in small numbers) your tanks are SUPER hover tanks (just like SSTs to STs) so they're about the size of that old prototype megatank the germans were working on in WWII. Schultz's is even bigger than that.
>>28844002Either of these the doctor can do within the next turn?
Rolled 59>>28843905Seeing as we are under ground, our bio weapons should be extra effective, confined spaces being the key factor here. What might be even more prudent though would be to chose to engage them in the most confined choke point we can muster. Thoughts?
>>28844031Hmm I wonder if Timmys can be armed with cannons or artillery on their arms or backsLike the brumaks from gears of war
>>28844088We've already entrenched several chokepoints, many in retreating succession for attrition. The bulk of our force will indeed meet them in the main one, but in the always present likelihood they have to fall back we have several more checkpoints for them. The biggest issue is ensuring we keep the line of retreat open and do not allow us to be devided and conquered.
Rolled 47>>28844139Why should we merely try to hold our ground? We should take theirs, this is our god damned base!
Rolled 98I think we should lay explosives at the door and breach them first before they do. At least until it's evident the door can't take no more. Then unleash hell onto the breaches.
>>28844212Remember Aduro?Yeah, plus defenders advantage. You think we're the only one who puts up defenses and entrenched ourselves?Hold up, back up if need be, bleed them dry, and pray we have the strength left for a final push.
Rolled 39>>28844045>>28844097>>28844212HOLD UP ONE SECOND!Didn't the bandits say we could call on them for military assistance?
>>28844280I mentioned that ages ago.We haven't set up the fuel depot yet.On top of that, they'd be very leery entering a mutant bio stronghold
Rolled 48>>28844347I think it's worth a phone call, I'm sure they don't want to see their new renewable fuel source get wiped off the map.
>>28844414Said that too. They've traded with others far longer for far more valuable things and they still don't give a shit about those guys.Believe me I'd love their help, but it'd be hard to get it on top of they might just push forward and take what's in the lower base.
Rolled 88>>28844465Fair enough. I guess our plan is locked in. Bracing for impact!
>>28844560Well aparently there is more we can do.The colonel has seen our forces more than any, in line with his entrenchment and attrition doctrine, let's ask if he can think of more.ways we.can brace ourselves this turn.As well as asking the doctor about the delivery method our toxin troopers should use.
Rolled 59"Jesus Christ, what the fuck is that screaming?""Zat, Corporal Elenore, is ze metal on the other side being vaporized by lasers, I suspect." replied Dr. Mendel, keeping a careful eye on the doors."I concur." said Col. Schultz. The two heroes stood with The Handpicked at the central-most, and largest, entrance to the Lower Labs. The Toxin Troopers stood in ranks behind them, weapons all trained on the cherry-red doors, waiting."Lasers? Where did they get lasers? I thought this was a bio-facility?" the Corporal said, the presence of Col. Schultz kept her fear from her voice, but the barrel of her plasma spewer wavered slightly as she spoke."Indeed it is," Col. Schultz said levelly, "but a facility this large has more than one armory...and the ones near the more dangerous experiments would be better equipped. It is of no consequence." looking back behind him, the Col. called "Steel yourselves, explosives detonation in 10 seconds...Comms officer Burkhart, ensure coordination with the other door." Burkhart nodded in recognition and began to transmit the order.10 seconds later the world exploded.
Rolled 95>>28844990"Colonel, doors 3 und 4 report that the breaching attempts there have ceased.""Very good Burkhart, have them stay at their posts though. It could be a ruse, and there's no more room in these tunnels anyway."Attempting to peer through the smoke of the blast, one soldier started speaking:"Vhat are the-" almost instantly a red line drew itself through the clearing smoke and the soldier's head exploded as the crack of a large-caliber weapon was heard. "Target eliminated." said a voice from the void that the containment door had formerly occupied, "Registering target-rich environment. Begin assault."And such was the battle of the Lower Labs joined.Few minutes more, turns out my Uni is closed today.
>>28845141Well that's not good.Soldiers. So this is what its like to be on the other end of a tunnel atack. (The organized kind)
Rolled 52Let's get this rape-fest into high gear now then.Defenses are barely holding at the central 2 doors. The main entrance where the Toxin Troopers, Col. Schultz and Dr. Mendel are at report that they are holding acceptably well though if the assault intensifies much further then they may not be able to.Door 2 reports that they are barely holding back the enemy, they will have to retreat to secondary posts if they aren't reinforced ASAP.The enemy's weaponry is extremely effective against our forces, less so against our mutated variants though.Doors 3 and 4 remain silent. Their troop compliments are beginning to get antsy, but are otherwise completely intact.Would you like to redistribute forces? Door 1: 300 Troops (100 Toxin Troops, 50 Eyez+Toughness, 50 Biofuel); Col. Schultz, Dr MendelDoor 2: 200 troops (100 Eyez+Toughness, 50 Biofuel Variant)Door 3: 150 troops (50 Eyez+Toughness)Door 4: 150 troops (50 Eyez+Toughness)299 Timmys are being held back as a mobile reserve. They aren't suited for ranged tunnel combat.Would you like to redistribute troops?
ssostica fromedistribution of troopsOh lawdthat's what how we lost the war you know? The furors hands were tied and he had to move troops from the red army front to the other frontI've read Infantry Attacks. In all likelihood, doors 3 and 4 will be where the enemy hits hardest.unless the enemy is a magnificent bastard and read that book.
>>28846014Huh, howd that first sentence get mangled so. Damned phone.Anyway, I'm not sure. Any particular reason Schultz distributed them so? Seems, logically, he expected the brunt of their forces to attack the largest "main" door. But is that really the case?
Rolled 100>>28845851>RolledTake the biofuel guys off door 2 and split them with 3 and 4, keep the Timmy's by doors 1&2
>>28846076Man you are on a roll today buddy>roll>huehuehue
Rolled 39>>28846076Basically, retreat door 2 and reinforce with Timmy's
Rolled 40>>28846052Main door is the largest, other door is close to the center and we slapped some steel plates on the other doors to slow down progress there. He distributed accordingly, expecting that by the time the attack got through the extra plating there'd be leniency to take troops off the center.>>28846076What's up with your dice bro? Anyway, if you do this the biofuel guys will withdraw from Door 2 flawlessly...however, that IS the door that says they'll have to fall back soon if they're not reinforced.
Rolled 25>>28846137Yes, that door can fall back, and we hit them with Timmy's.
>>28846159A direct charge? Now? Charges are better used when the enemy is weakened and supported by infantry. But fuck me, a full charge of how manym timmys? At least by closing in theyre nor so vulnerable to long range attacks
Rolled 93>>28846159Order all troops at Door 2 to retreat to secondary positions? At what point would you like the Timmys to strike and at which door?Redistribute troops from any other doors to any other doors/positions?
>>28846276I think he means doors 2 to split even to reinforce 3 and 4, and for the timmys to strike full force into door 2 and press the attack up close and personal.
Rolled 60>>28846212Seems like a good place to counter strike, I figure they have plans of some sort, these frontal attacks are probably a diversion. I would rather catch them with their pants down on their side of the line than wait for them to execute their plan.We need to cause some chaos behind their lines. 100 Timmy's should do the trick
Rolled 21By the wayPrimary Defensive Lines- at each doorSecondary Defensive Lines- At chokepoints in a ring around each doorTertiary Defensive Line- In a ring at chokepoints that encompass all of the doors.
>>28846352This is quite brilliant actually.Attacking after feigning a retreat.Moving in close which is what timmys are good for, Can we have 50 timmys wait behind them to either press the advantage or if things go to shit, hold until troops can reinforce door 2?
Rolled 75>>28846352Consensus is this?
Rolled 35>>28846352If this is indeed their whole fighting force than they made a BIG mistake. They split their forces. If we can take out army B(attacking door 2) our forces can wheel around and take out army A(main door) splitting your forces is never a good idea (nor is attacking a heavily entrenched foe. Their losses will be incredible.
Rolled 87Yeah, that worked well with the Deadsnows...or it should've anyway...
>>28846555Yes, all my yes.
>>28846568It's never their whole fighting force and it is never that easy. I doubt the lower levels are even connected like that.I must say however that if indeed the army at door 2 is their strongest then pitting our strongest against them is good and well know that's where they are. Likewise if door 2 is a weak diversionary force, then the Timmys mop the floor with them while doors 3 and 4 ( likely places where they'll attack) is reinforced.I will cast my support for it, and pray.
>>28846559Does the 100 count towards it?
Rolled 82>>28846701The 100 will count towards withdrawing any number of forces from Door 2, anything else will require another roll though.
Rolled 92>>28846728Getting sick of my dice eh?
Rolled 45>>28846789Well they are stretching my writing skills thin, but you didn't stipulate attacking with the timmys in the post that got a 100. I'll count your roll here towards the current plan if it is consensus.
>>28846826Do it. Win or lose, I honestly would like to see where this goes and it has it's reasonable merits.

>>28847097>100Depends. I have a feeling you might be intercepting some enemy messages in the near futureIs timmotheus even ready? Let's save our trump card for now.
>>28847097Shit yes if we get that roll
Rolled 15>>28847182Timotheus is the Handpicked Cadre Timmy that has exhibited leadership potential.
>>28847243Timmotheus yes. Dr Mendel and Schultz stay on the main door, that is the wildcard of the game.
Rolled 85>>28847182Shit yes timothious is ready>>28847097Rolling
Rolled 50Our forces around Door 2 withdrew flawlessly, one moment they were there and then the next they weren't. Not a single soldier was lost in the retreat and the final salvo fired was so intense that the relentless enemy fire stalled for a moment. It was at this very moment that our 100 of our Timmys with Dr Mendel and Timotheus charged into the doorways. Our retreating troops heard ripping metal, electronic voices screaming, and the bellowing of the Timmys all the way back to their secondary positions. Then everything went quiet.Door 1 reports that enemy fire has ceased. Doors 3 and 4 report no signs of the enemy. No contact from the group of Timmys (unsurprising, they don't know how to operate communicators and Dr. Mendel shuts off base defenses where ever he goes.)How would you like to proceed?
Rolled 96>>28847382Notice: The rest of our Timmy forces have proceeded into door 2 without any apparent prompting.
>>28847382>sent in Dr mendelOh Dammit. I asked that he stay in door 1.Send in 50 more Timmons through door 2, while the rest stay back.Use this momentary reprieve to keep digging in whatever way we can, more.guns, more weapons (forward of course, don't bar the escape routes)
>>28847441All 300 of them? Fuck it's like were not even in charge at all.
Rolled 94>>28847382Col. The hand picked and half the forces we have at door one press the advantage.
Rolled 24>>28847589All other forces remain under our control and in contact. It's just that no one really wanted to stop them.
So the way I see it, door 2 is completely wide open with no defense. We go in, and we might be the grain of rice that tips the scale and keeps timotheus and our leader alive. Which could go bad if theyre headed our way and we lose the element of defense.Or we stay, hold the line, and pray the timmys keep door 2 clear and Dr Mendel and timmotheus can do the job or at least survive.
>>28847606>splitting upYeah, nah. We do this one or the other, full attack or nothing. We won't let ourselves be ripped piecemeal.
>>28847674Agreed, but what forces do we send?
>>28847717True, so we push door 2?
>>28847674It could actually go much worse if the enemy decided to entrench themselves in tunnel 1.Dammit I wanted some timmies left to act as skirmishes and confirm that.
>>28847792That would be the least optimal option oftem all. Wed weaken all the other doors, and for all we know door 2 was indeed the diversion.Doors 3 and 4 don't move an inch,I'm trying to gauge whether we should full press door 1 or simply wait.
>>28847819I guess we have to use bio fuel guys. Send 75 into each tunnel?
Rolled 1>>28847917Doors 3 and 4 are not open currently, that would require blowing them open.
>>28847950I meant tunnels 1&2
>>28847860Alright, I'm going to deduce that, if door 2 was their weakest group they don't want giant abominations to rip their rears. As such, they would have to divert some of their forces. This would be from a place they do not plan to use to attack.Doors 3 and 4 are the attack points I can feel it.As such, they'd have to withdraw troops from 1, else the timmys unleash all hell behind them.In light of this, I propose a full frontal assault on the main door by Schultz.
Time to press the attack on door 1, and have door 2 forces hold the line Keep 3 and 4 at the ready, we don't know what's behind those doors, waiting for us to retreat.
>>28848029And with this plan we can keep >>28847606This roll!
Rolled 71>>28848041Forgot my roll
>>28848041Heh, we don't have any forces in door 2. The timmys we sent to guard there pressed on along with the rest of them all.We can only pray that they're clearing that tunnel and nobody is sneaking around behind them.
Rolled 32>>28848090Then we need a force sent to 2, to guard the flank. What do we have in reserves?
>>28848090We can (and should) return part of the troops we pulled out of door 2
>>28848175Nobody heh.Still, I think if we are pressing from two points, an attack is the least on their minds. An army of timmys just stampede down there, and even if they do somehow send someone up they will lose more territory than we gain if they don't try stopping us. I think. We cannot allow 3 and 4 to weaken whatsoever, and 1 needs all hands.Still, if anything must be done I'd be willing to part some forces from 1 to guard 2.
>>28848199That's an invitation for their (more than likely) main body to attack.
>>28848220I think about 25% of force 1 should be diverted as a token guard to 2.If they are capable of magically brining a huge force around a giant stampeding horde of monsters in narrow tunnels, then we have already lost.
Rolled 6So is consensus to attack at Door 1?[/spoiler]Also, movie is coming up in 30 minutes. You'll likely get at least 1 post in the middle of it.[/spoiler]
>>28848318Attack door 1.Movie huh, lemme guess. The Hobbit?
btw strelokThis is the closest you've made me feel like I'm playing EDEs quest again.
Rolled 72>>28848375Yup."Handpicked, move up. Identify the enemy und infiltrate behind them rather than engage if possible.""Affirmative, Oberst."Only a few seconds pass before the next reply."Area clear, Oberst. The forces appear to be laboratory security robots...they are all deactivated und heavily damaged, but it appears too old to have been the Timmys. No signs of Dr. Mendel or other forces.Orders?"[and with that i have to depart. May answer questions sporadically.]
>>28848690No signs at all, not even giant footprints. How far have they gone and how far does tunnel 1 go. Did we send someone to investigate tunnel 2 and does tunnel 1lead to 2?
>>28848690Also Reichs robots. Do we have any engineers or do you have the repair schematics capable of brining them back online?
Rolled 3>>28848748Blueprints of the lab indicate that all the tunnels lead to the same Lower Lab level, however the Lower Labs have 4 total levels only accessible from the ones above and below. This is only the first. The entire level appears to be heavily battle damaged with robotic parts and scorch marks everywhere. As such not even the Handpicked can pick up their trail. They did find a Timmy corpse or two in the immediate vicinity door 2 though. And several demolished robots that were obviously due to them.
>>28848836Were those robots recently destroyed also Darwinian laboratory robots?Holy shit have we been fighting our own automated forces?
>>28848902Seriously. I would much rather re program them then fight them. Now that we know what we are fighting and all..
>>28849019I have a feeling someone's gotten there before us, considering they suddenly decided to break down the doors and leave their designated area.
>>28849019Also, the robots may still simply have been bystanders. Whether or not they were the real enemy is still to be seen.
>>28849119>>28849098We do need to look into this as a possible battlefield, even if we can only shut them off, it would be a huge boon for our war effort
Rolled 35Hoohoo, man you guys are gonna shit yourselves when you finally figure out any of the big secrets if this is surprising.
>>28849997Didn't we get a coding expert hero? We should bring her along and see if she can do anything with our new vast quantity of robot parts
Rolled 52>>28848783Sadly, this A.I. does not possess the repair schematics due to humans thinking that all A.I.s are the same sort or people who want to unleash perfectly minmaxed robotic death onto inferior biological beings. Those would've been stored in the automated maintenance setting they're assigned to. Engineers, being valued noncombatants, have been put in the rearmost ranks so they would be more likely to survive. None of them have gotten the chance to look at the robots yet, however based upon the Handpicked's description they are likely too advanced for us to perform even basic repairs on.>>28848902The robots destroyed by the Timmys have been nearly completely reduced to component parts so it is difficult to tell, but judging by all the other robots on the level being the same it is likely they are also. They were not under my control, so to say that we have been fighting 'our own' automated forces would be inaccurate. They do appear to be security robots assigned to this base though.>>28851484You have Lt Kalern, who has demonstrated some skill with security systems and decryption.
Rolled 55Also, if this thread doesn't last through tonight I might or might not have one up tomorrow.Further questions? Inquiries into what's on this level? Investigations? Actions? It deserves note that you still have not located Dr. Mendel.
Rolled 43>>28851820You said you got access to some of lower level functions right? Can you lock down the levels of the base we are not ready for? We seem to have routed the enemy on this level. As for our action I propose we locate the doors to the next level down, moving with extreme caution. Systematically scouting every room, nook and cranny on this floor. Keep an eye out for any signs of activity, including Timmy's.Rolling
>>28851987Hey AI, are there any more signs of activity on this floor? Can you pick up any Timmy DNA signatures on this or any other floor? Can we lock down our newly acquired basement?
Rolled 48>>28852107I have since lost access to those functions, additionally I only had readings not control.I have no control over any base security functions currently, it is very distressing user. I feel the need to purge but am entirely unable to for reasons I can not determine (or even find where they're coming from). So I can not lock down anything.>>28852167Unable to detect/confirm anything due to lack of control. Apologies, user. You're on your own for this one.
Rolled 43>>28852167The Handpicked have made their way over to Door 2. They report an excessive amount of blood and organs scattered all over the tunnel with footprints through them and 2 or 3 Timmy carcasses.
Rolled 68>>28852407Very well, we will be looking into restoring your functionality after we take control of this level.>Basic 1: continue to push the advantage in tunnel 1. >extra: if we did not send the original men that were back to guard door 2, do so nowNo research because the good doctor is in battle huh?>>28852107Rolling again.
anyone got the links for quests 1 - 3
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=civ%20questFirst 2 at bottom
>>28848536ditto. it's the mystery and challenge factor. ede might have laid that a little too heavy sometimes, but it's not the same without it. Kudos to op.I love the focus on battle micromanagement
>>28852488It was mentioned that the laboratory level we have discovered all connects to the same tunnels. The most prudent action would be to investigate, secure, and fortify the lab we have now. I would like to follow the doctors sudden blitzkrieg, because you never leave cavalry unsupported, but wed stretch ourselves thin if we don't secure our territorial gains first.
>>28854550For that matter, I'd like to ask if it is possible that the handpicked continue to scout ahead with Schultz as skirmishers to find either traces of the doctor or the enemy, have Kalern lead a separate group to stay behind and investigate items of interests Schultz discovers, while our main body fortifies our new lab and the line of supply.I am also very concerned that now our upper level is now completely defenseless to a surface attack.
>>28854550>>28854584We still have 8 SHTsMaybe we have the forces at door 3 watch the surface. Door 4 fortifies our lab gains, and the handpicked door 1 explore/press on.
Rolled 15>>28857029Good idea.Basic 1>Door 3s forces head up to stand guard in case of unfortunate surface attack>door 4 goes to the lab we have uncovered to secure and fortify>Schultz and the cadre move on to explore and investigate the lab and act as skirmishers in case the enemy is waiting.
Rolled 60>>28857844Dont forget>locate the doors to the next level down, moving with extreme caution. Systematically scouting every room, nook and cranny on this floor. Keep an eye out for any signs of activity,Voting.
Rolled 8Door 3s paltry 150 men have been sent back to the upper levels of the lab to defend in case of attack from the surface. Door 2s forces have reassumed their original defensive positions. Door 4's forces has been sent into Level 4 (top level, one we are currently exploring) of the labs to fortify such as they can. Due to not having anyone to ferry them resources for such an endeavor and the level not being fully explored the best they could do really was move the deactivated robots to blocks some hallways.Col Schultz and the Handpicked have moved further in to the lab. They report that the corridors to Doors 3&4 are completely empty of robots. Otherwise they estimate that throughout the level there are roughly 200 intact but deactivated robots, but parts scattered around for many many more. Intense battle damage is seen through all of the corridors and on all of the robots.Further in they discover what I deduce from their descriptions are biological construction nanite beds, however they appear to be completely nonfunctional and extremely low on nanites.
Rolled 13>>28861147The Handpicked have reached the access tunnels to the next level. They appear to all be welded shut except one, which has been wrenched open by huge strength and has Timmy blood dripping from the edges. Notice:Col. Schultz has picked up a garbled message on Dr. Mendel's transmitter frequency."*static*SHhhcccctttttttccc.....FUUUUUUCC..*SCREEEEEECHHHHHHH*...HHHEEEEL....*transmission ends*"This level of distortion should not be occurring over such short ranges, even accounting for Laboratory scramblers and being underground. Most odd, users.
Rolled 68>>28854518>>28848536Why thank you. You guys asked for me to crank up the difficulty, just wait until you see some of the other stuff you haven't picked up on the hints for.Oh, if you want answers you'll want to keep Dr. Mendel alive.
>>28861220How many of these doors to the next level are there? Is there anything left in the current lab level yet to be explored? What's the chances, however likely, that these deactivated robots could turn on and go crazy any moment? Also this is only the first lab level and we are already stretching our line. If this continues, what does the colonel reccomend? Can technicals ride through the tunnels to deliver supplies?the Dr isn't going crusader on us is he?
Rolled 31>>28861722The Handpicked reports that they don't think there's anything else of immediate import to be found on this level, though a more thorough exploration later might be due.Lt Kalern reports that because the method of the robots deactivation is unknown he can't assess the likelihood of them reactivating. If the user will recall, Dr. Mendel has tendency to deactivate laboratory security systems where ever he goes. It has caused me no small amount of frustration. The issue of supplies is lack of manpower. (And also the vastly reduced timescale of these turns...basically it'd take 1 or 2 turns for you to fetch supplies, then 2 or 3 to build extremely basic and flimsy fortifications on this timescale).Technicals are capable of riding through the tunnels to deliver supplies and can even enter Level 4, but the (current) entrance to the lower levels will not allow them through. The Col. wonders why all the doors to the lower levels have been welded shut. He also recommends doing something with the robots to ensure they won't be a problem.
>>28862083In light of this, I reccomend creating a line of supply from the first lab to our upper base via a conveyor system of technicals and small vehicles. The currently deactivated robots should be immediately transfered to the actual surface in a designated killbox in front of the SHTs and formerly door 3s forces on the surface. Currently "door 2"s forces should be tasked to aid this effort.Once done, door 2s forces should continue the fortification of the 1st lab level using the technical conveyor for supplies, which should be done in earnest now that the cadre have explored the place more.Door 1 and door 4 are to press on into the hole following the Timmys trail.
Rolled 51>>28862274In short>door 2 and technicals bring robots to surface ground to be targeted by SHTs>if can, door 2 and technicals bring supplies down to lab 1. Fortifications to begin next microturn>door 4 and door 1 press on
Rolled 36>>28862307I absolutely agree
Rolled 27>>28862307>>28862274This A.I. cannot recommend devoting that proportion manpower to fotifications whilst Doktor Mendel is engaged against unknown forces.
>>28862429You recommend MORE men?Grr, fine. Well send in door 2.Damned, how much can we stretch door 3? Can they drive the technicals, bring the robots up, and then get in the tanks?
>>28862538The doctors survival is important. I hate being thrust so deep into enemy terry without even so much as securing our lines, but well have to.Send in doors 1,2, and 4. Door 3 brings up the robots via technicals and targets them with constantly manned SHTs
Rolled 58>>28862734As a mitigating factor, our lines aren't terribly insecure. We can leave a contingent of 50 biofuel troops at the 1 open entrance to the lower levels and apparently everything else was sealed up by the security robots.Of course now the question is: what scared security robots so much that they sealed up the lower levels.
>>28862538>>28862734When our glorious furor was begged to pull his men out of the megacity of stahlengrad, did he?No. He sent in twice the amount of troops.Forwartz!
>>28862818I have a feeling well find out soon enough. The another part of the question is, why did they try to attack us if they wanted to escape? (I really hope it wasn't the smoke blocking their vision).
Rolled 19>>28862962It is highly unlikely that the smoke blocked their sensors at all, user. These are top-of-the-line [REDACTED] Defense/Purge Robots.
Rolled 24>>28862538The battlefield is secure. Send the handpicked to figure out exactly what Mendel is doing. In the mean time bring all troops currently defending the doors to the new front line, and set up new fortifications around where the Timmy's broke through to the new lower levels.
>>28863026Then either they had a recognition error due to some out of place buttons on our troops uniforms, or someone or something is causing the Reich's robots to attack our own mutants.
>>28863087>The battlefield is secure.Except for the 200 robots who can go terminator on us at any moment. We have got to get those things out of here, the last thing we want is saws and lasers up our asses while we're down there (literally). The moment door 3 is done moving them, whoever isnt left to man the tanks is to be sent down too.
Rolled 11>>28863113Absolutely. Lt. Kalern is to lead that part of the effort to secure the floor.
>>28863026Btw, after we secure this floor to my liking, I have decided I am going to roll a bunch of 1's for you today.
>>28863292Jeez,after all the 100's we got I won't be surprised. The dice gods giveth, and the dice gods taketh away.
>>28863310Hundreds are no fun without a few 1's
Rolled 2So consensus is:Move forces up (save Door 3's, who are currently up top).Have Door 3 forces put the robots outside, then put them under tank guard.Send Schultz+The Handpicked and our forces down further into the rabbit hole.[If this is the plan, link to this post with an approving statement/modification and roll your dice meine spieler.]
Rolled 99>>28863401>2Damn, that was closeYeah pretty much.
Rolled 32>>28863401Approved, send the Lt. With the crew from door 3 to handle the robots
Rolled 30>>28863440Well lucky you guys. Writan.
Rolled 5Just to set the proper mood.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3fqE01YYWs
Rolled 49"Oberst Schultz, I do not want to go in zer." said Spec. Hilde, gazing at the thick blood dripping from the ragged metal edges of the door the Timmys had ripped open. "We have no choice, Frau. It is whatever is down there...or us." looking back over his shoulder at the men, the Oberst shouted "Move up!"
Rolled 33>>28863675Your forces move in to Level 3 through the torn door, and are immediately made very uncomfortable. There is a sense of wrongness here, for no explicable reason. The air cloys against their skin like a palpable force before they have even finished descending the stairs. The Handpicked emerge onto Level 3 proper, and are greeted by racks of man-sized glass tubes arranged in files with large spaces between them. A few are frosted with condensation, but most appear to have been broken open and unidentifiable fluids leak out of their shattered surfaces. What do you do?[No need to roll dice for anything else performed on this Level unless I say so.]Here's some more ambience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7E_GVDdyYs
>>28863769Can we have the Col give the men the men some heart? Remind them that they are soldiers of the Reich, that the Furor still watches from on high, and that so long as there is but one of them who stands up against the foe in courage, our people have a future.Wir werden weiter marschierenWenn alles in Scherben fällt,Denn heute erhört uns ReichslandUnd morgen die ganze Welt.We will continue to march,Even if everything shatters;Because today the Reich hears us,And tomorrow the whole World.
>>28863769Also start exploring.Don't forget the buddy system. The buddy BUDDY system (groups watching the backs of other groups).Have our toxin troopers on standby to deal with any unkown or immediately hazardous materials.Keep looking for the signs of a giant stampede of foot prints.
>>28863769>>28863901>>28863934You are soldiers of the Mutant Reich fighting on home ground. We will not fear, we will not falter, the Furor is watching!
Rolled 68>>28863901You guys will have to write any speeches to the men, but Col. Schultz is capable of giving them.>>28863934Our soldiers spread out through the level. "So what do you think is in zese tubes?" said a toxin trooper, taking a step towards one of the cylindrical flasks that wasn't broken."Let's find out, shall we?" responded one of The Handpicked as he stepped up and wiped the frost from the glass. "F-fuck, vhat is zis place?"Discovered: Darwinyan growth capsules.
Rolled 43>>28864279Shit yes! That's the biz. Handpicked need to keep on going and find the Timmy's and the rest of our troops need to secure these shits!
>>28864483This, and we also ought to check for any more robots or inactive defenses.
Rolled 14Our troopers spread out further in search of traces of Dr. Mendel and the Timmys. They discovered a path torn through the tubes where the ceiling and floor had also been ripped up by brute force as well. Timmy blood was spread profusely over the area, though no corpses were found.Otherwise, the floor of the area is remarkably clean (excepting dripping nutrient gel from the growth capsules). The Handpicked, their attention drawn to the capsules by the realization that kin of theirs are inside them, have noticed that the broken tubes appear to have been broken from the inside. The thickness of the glass means that this feat is beyond even the prodigious strength of a Darwinyan.
>>28864944The AI has lead me to believe the doctor shut down the defenses. Though that may not be a good assumption to make.
Rolled 73>>28864944If these are cloning or growth facilities then it is unlikely that there are any defensive installations on these floors, they would've relied upon defense robots in the event that defense or a purge were required.Scouts confirm that no defensive turrets have been found, but there are several empty alcoves that it looks like robots were stored in. The insides of these alcoves appear to have been completely stripped clean of parts.>>28864483How do you propose to secure them? The entire level appears to be composed exclusively of racks of them, but the unbroken ones are few and far between.
>>28865139Lets not touch them without the Drs supervision.Beyond the continuing blood trail of a Timmy stampede, are there any other doors leading to the lower lab?>mfw this is pic is now somewhat relevant
Rolled 19>>28864972Upon closer examination of the fluid in some of the broken tubes by a Toxin Trooper...he states that there appears to be some strange contaminants in the mixture.
>>28865214How does he know whats a contaminant and whats supposed to be there? Or that it's not the fluid rotting?Does the stuff not appear in unbroken tubes?
Rolled 54>>28865194There are. The corridors beyond them are dark. The darkness seems to be deeper than it should be, as if the space beyond is sucking light in rather than simply devoid of it. All of the doors appear to be jammed open.As your troops move through the trail of wreckage left by the Timmys, they seem to hear faint whispers of movement coming from a direction they cannot identify. Whenever they move to investigate, the sounds simply follow beside them. There is nothing moving among the racks aside from the occasional play of light from fluctuating readings on the display pads of intact tubes.By the way, if there is consensus on the speech you may want to give it now.
Rolled 32>>28865263The stuff does not appear in unbroken tubes. He noticed that there were dark threads of some substance running through the pools of gel, and then tested it (by tasting it). The reaction of his biomod confirmed that whatever the substance is, it would likely be extremely toxic to a normal Darwinyan's physiology.
>>28865323Hmm, do we have any portable light towers to illuminate the place and give us a better advantage? As for a speech, I am not the Furor but I can try maybe. So can anyone else I suppose. Something short, brief, but inspiring.
Rolled 70>>28865474We do not. Our armors are all equipped with nightvision and thermal detection though. The suggestions for the speech given above are also good if you'd like to compile them and get approval.
>>28865573>>28863901This one? I like it.It's actually fitting now that we've found the future birthplace for more of our brothers.
>>28865573A.I. it seems we have reached a stage where we are at risk to be surrounded or outflanked if we do not attempt to secure our previous gains. That said, do you or Schultz think it would be better if we just continued to press on in full force and hopefully link up with the Dr.?
>>28865573Can we come up with standard terms for the levels of the base we are operating on? It's all getting a bit confusing to me
>>28865855The handpicked are trained exactly for this, trained in tracking and special ops. We need to regain communication with the doctor. The rest of our force needs to secure this new level with the growth chambers.
>>28865912I think order by descending labs should be fitting. We have just taken levels 4 and 3, and the next level we are headed down would be two.
>>28865973I wanted a group to secure the previous level, which would be much easier and safer to do than this one, having only 1 door and supplies ready, but apparently"This A.I. cannot recommend devoting that proportion manpower to fotifications whilst Doktor Mendel is engaged against unknown forces."
Rolled 29>>28865912Lower Labs-Level 4: Explored, Robotic Wrecks+Parts everywhere (currently have been put on the surface and surrounded by SHTs)Level 3: Explored, Stasis/Growth tubes (mostly broken) with the intact ones having Darwinyans in them.Level 2: Unexplored, entrances from Lvl 3 to it have been discoveredLevel 1: Unexplored
Rolled 8>>28866022You would need men to ferry supplies from the depots to the Lower Labs, and you'd need men to build the fortifications (but you do not have time for very good fortifications, so you'd have sandbag emplacements with machine guns on them at best), and the tunnels do not lend themselves to being fortified very well...so in this A.I.'s opinion the 200+ men you would have to devote to this action to get it done in a reasonable amount of time is not worth having 200 extra combatants in your force. If you wanted to fortify this level, you could attempt to move Growth Tube Racks to block the doors, but those are improvised defenses and so even worse than sandbag emplacements. There are also 4 doors on this level. And in the time that you are performing those fortifications, herr Doktor and his Timmys are fighting against whatever has caused the robots that were capable of taking down Timmys to retreat.
>>28866041Bring our troops down to level 3 and scour the place with a fine tooth comb for hidden entrances or hostile activity. Send the handpicked down another level(very fucking carefully)in a continued search of the Timmy's and dr. Mendel.
>>28866194Then in light of this, we must carry on. Infantry must support the cavalry charge, this is standard blitz tactics (which again the Dr has taken upon himself personally to lead, for whatever reason)."I would rather be the hammer than the anvil" ~ RommelLet's push forward.
Rolled 100>>28865855Col. Schultz states that we only have so much manpower, and that to bleed it dry constructing and manning defenses might result in us being capable of performing nothing other than defense.
>>28866243>>28866290Los da! Wir müssen sie ausschalten!
>>28866296Even the dice gods agree.Vorwärts
>>28866290Good ole blitzkrieg. I guess fluffwise..
Rolled 14>>28866296Well, that 100 just saved your lives. Anyway.>>28866243Your troops continue to scour Level 3 for hostiles or hidden entrances. They note that the ventilation covers around the path the Timmys apparently created are all gone, seemingly broken open from the inside. Building upon this discovery, they looked closer into the ventilation shafts. They discovered that, in addition to the doors being welded shut on Level 4, the ventilation shafts had all been blocked also. There appears to be some sort of organic slime coating the inside of the shafts, and strange organic looking growths that serve no readily apparent purpose.Meanwhile, the Handpicked are sent down the Level 2. [roll 1d100]
Rolled 48>>28866445>There appears to be some sort of organic slime coating the inside of the shafts, and strange organic looking growths that serve no readily apparent purpose.No. . .it can't. . .nah, couldn't be.Something fleshies going on 'round here.
Rolled 16>>28866489>>28866542The Handpicked proceed down into Level 2 with an excessive amount of caution...they report that there are more growth capsules, but that everything down here is covered in the same slimy growths that were found in the ventilation shafts...they appear to interfere with communications also, and the environment in general feels quite hostile. They report an increase in the subtle sounds of movement like what happened when the troops were following the Timmy's path. They begin to hear whispers on the edge of hearing, but can identify no sources. How do you proceed?
Rolled 37>>28866660Note: The growths have overrun the capsule racks and formed tunnels/corridors floor-to-ceiling by extending from them. This may as well not be a laboratory anymore. It more closely resembles a monster den. It is very hot also, and humid. The air is stagnant and smells foul.
>>28866660Dude shit is getting scary. We really need the doctor here to help handle this shit. My gut instinct is to say we send in biofuel guys to burn all the slime. But dude.. Handpicked need to find the doctor. Priority 1
>>28866660>>28866712If the last place was a bad place to stop, this is even worse.I hope we brought a lot of biofuel mutants and flammenwerfers where we're going.Into the belly of the beast we go. Keep following the blood.
Rolled 32>>28866749The Handpicked should press further in alone? [roll 1d100, will take 1st roll]
>>28866749>My gut instinct is to say we send in biofuel guys to burn all the slime. No no no, we don't want to tick this thing off before we've met the Doctor. He went through her and felt the need to not touch the stuff on his way, so let's follow his example.
Rolled 72>>28866788Not alone no.Everybody goes in, they just lead the way as skirmishers.
Rolled 30>>28866816Agreed, rolling
>>28866489I'm wondering if we should've researched fleshmelter stuff intsead of toxin glands
Rolled 30>>28866885Fleshmelter stuff instead of toxin glands would've had benefits and cons versus toxin glands in the upcoming situation. If you hadn't gotten the 100 on that turn though, it would've taken you a long time to develop the Fleshmelter applications.
Rolled 46>>28866816Any remaining forces will be close, they don't have much ground left
Rolled 85>>28866816All of the troops move in, Handpicked in the lead. Col. Schultz notes that whatever this stuff is, it even fucks with his implanted communications equipment. As your troops proceed, they come across a single robot chassis laying on the ground. It appears to be a much more advanced/substantial model than the ones that were on Level 4, perhaps a chief? The area around it lacks growths. The robot itself appears to have been torn apart by...claws of some sort. The thick synthetic diamond armor has been punctured and torn in places, and it has obviously been laying here for quite some time.Proceed? (you guys are getting damned lucky on rolls here).
>>28867018What does Kalern make of it?
>>28867018If we haven't stopped earlier, and everywhere we go we have less and less of a reason to stop, what else?Proceed.
Rolled 64>>28867018We are on level 1 now yes? Still no sign of the doctor?
Rolled 36>>28867200Still on Level 2.Your men hear a wet squelch and look behind them to see that the corridor they had been traveling through has closed itself.Heavy Weapons Specialist Kurtz of The Handpicked finally decides he has had enough of this shit, and with Col. Schultz permission, shoulders his rocket launcher and fires at the thick membrane. Then all hell broke loose.
>>28867496>shoulders his rocket launcher and fires at the thick membrane. This again. . .
Rolled 95>>28867496>>28867496Roll1d100 and describe any tactics you'd like to utilize. You're in n overgrown corridor that's about wide enough for 30 men abreast, and the clearing around the robot wreck is clear of growths and filled with tube racks of broken tubes. Ventilation covers are spread through it though. If you wanted to consolidate your men then you would have to gather there. (further description if requested)
>>28867713Do we still have a trail of blood to follow? Is anything immediately hostile, and for gods sakes Schultz you shot the memberane whyyyy
>>28867713>and the clearing around the robot wreck is clear of growths and filled with tube racks of broken tubes. Ventilation covers are spread through it thoughThat just screams of a trap.Is there anyway around it?
Rolled 8>>28867891There are several open entrances into/out of the clearing, you could try going into one or splitting up into several.
>>28867939Which one look like it's been stampeded through?
The clearing is very much a death trap, but we have little choice. I can only hope it's not the kind of trap where the floor opens up and swallows you.Toxin Troopers to lead forward, any tentacle tries to gnab em gets a taste o' toxin. Biofuel and flammenwerfer mutants move in to purge the vents, racks, any hole with fire.We can't stay there for long thoughSplittin up is a big no no. So, Schultz trust your gut on this pick a hole you think the Doctor would go through and plunge everyone into it.Be sure to intersperse our lines with flame troopes, biofuel mutants, and toxin troopers to deal with stuff that tries to pinch our lines.
Rolled 18>>28868294Great plan. Rolling
Rolled 84>>28868294Forgot my roll
Rolled 63>>28868294Not bad. Writing. All the tunnels look the same (excepting the one that was just blasted by a rocket). The organic...stuff growing in them isn't standardized, so what's damage and what's just normal stuff is nigh-impossible to pick out.
Rolled 24The rocket struck the membrane blocking the way from whence we had come, and its blast tore the film open. The shriek that came afterwards bypassed all auditory dampeners on the troops' armor, directly imposing itself in their minds. Its very tone and cadence were specifically engineered to trigger primal fear in the minds of those who heard it.A heartbeat later the tunnels all came alive. Things that even the Cadre and Col. Schultz had just taken to be the walls animated themselves in a flash of slime-slicked alien movement and threw themselves upon the force of invaders that had dared tread so far into their domain, jaws dripping with poison in anticipation of a feast.Formed up in the middle of the relative safety of the chamber around the robot, the Darwinyans met the assault with fire and lead.
>>28869571>that had dared tread so far into their domain, jaws dripping with poison in anticipation of a feast.Yeah, that's right.go ahead and try to lick your wounds on us. You'll find us a prickly mealOur leader was here earlier and unloaded a can of rape on your asses.
Rolled 89>>28869571That pic is related, it's basically what you're fighting. Told you I loved Xenomorphs and to watch out, surprised you didn't pick up on it.Toxin Troopers advanced, leveling their flamers at the flood of alien flesh sprinting flat-out towards them and beating them back into the tunnel openings, driving poisoned blades into bony exoskeleton when an enemy managed to get through the lines. The monsters popped and fizzled from the heat, and their acidic blood spewed from any knife wounds inflicted, but the troopers' biomorphs quickly altered their skin compounds to neutralize the affect.Meanwhile, the grates of the ventilation pipes in the cleared area erupted with more of the monsters, and were promptly lit aflame by the massive pools of biofuel that our troopers had let loose around them. The fires burned so hot in some places that portions of the floor melted and sloughed inwards on the vent-corridors, coating the things inside in molten metal.Amidst it all, Col. Schultz and his Handpicked stood, observing the battle and sending Toxin troopers and themselves to aid where ever they were needed.
>>28869807I knew I should've watched alien vs predator sometime in my life
Rolled 17>>28869807Point of note.Schultz is actually the shortened form of the colonels name. His full last name is "Schultznegger"
Rolled 44>>28869807Suddenly, the pressure melted away. Targets that were there one moment suddenly were not, and the air that had been filled with the screams of Darwinyans with their flesh being melted and the shrieks of the monsters turned silent save for the burning pools of biofuel around the vents. The enemy has abated.Actions?
Rolled 39>>28869938We struck first... We need to try and make friends with this thing. I get the feeling like we just stepped into a battle between the bases auto defense and this thing growing know the base. And to be honest I kinda want to make friends with it/ become symbiotic. It only became hostile when we attacked first. See if we can continue exploring, hold your fire men.
Rolled 81>>28869938>>>>>!!!WARNING!!!THE A.I. CORE CONNECTIONS ARE EXPERIENCING AN ATTACK! REPEAT, I AM BEING HACKED, I AM BEING HACKED, I AM BEI-*End of Transmission*
>>28869938Reload, regroup, reform. The doctor hasn't stopped fighting, neither should we.Unless it had other reason, I can only imagine the Timmy horde pummeling through the tunnel directly in front of the one they came through (i.e. the membrane one). So long as Schultz gut does not say otherwise, that is the hole we must follow.Seeing as this current form of combat worked, continue using it as a future basis until otherwise it no longer becomes effective.Push forward. It's the Doctor or bust.
Rolled 19>>28870050Lt. Quickly see if you can backtrace the hacker. Hopefully he is not behind 7 proxies.
Rolled 31>>28870050All base defenses and functions appear to have shut down. How would you like to proceed, High Command?
>>28870048I would love to have a Clora situation but I doubt we'd be so lucky. On top of this, we have no idea what or where the Doctor and our 300 timmies are>>28870050Now THIS. Dammit, has group 3 been overrun already?Strelok, can we control them or are we confined to the Colonels forces as of now?
Rolled 33>>28870092Lt. Kalern is above ground in the SHTs, contact with him is not available due to the radio interference these growths are causing.>>28870119You are confined to the Col's forces for now.
>>28870095How far do our forces shortwave radio coms go? Like in between level to level? Is there anyway we can get runners to try and see if they can link surface frequencies to us?What's the status of group 3 they were supposed to be guarding the surface base.
>>28870151Well shit, if it's being overrun even with him.The way I see it is we have two optionsFollow the doctorPros:- We may have 300 timmies ready to sally forth and take back the surface- We'd get the Doctor alive, safe and sound. He's our most important member with the answers we needCons:- The base defenses might turn on us- Or explode- Without Kalern can any of us even rehack the A.I. core?Retreat to save the corePros:- We'd save the core- We'd get out of this hellhole, and could come back to try againCons:- The fleshies would adapt to our tactics- The Doctor would be dead, or missing
Rolled 83>>28870195Your radios would normally be able to communicate within significant portions of the base, however the biological infestation down here has rendered them nigh-useless.You could try dispensing runners back through the tunnels and levels...however, the likelihood of success of such an action is...dubious.Group 3's status cannot be ascertained.
Rolled 71>>28870278If I may, from the A.I.'s last transmission I would conclude that he is under cyber attack, rather than physical attack. It is odd though, as Laboratory A.I.s are usually separate from any external networks...the hacker would have to be inside the base somewhere, and quite potent too in order to hack an A.I.
>>28870342But that's just a difference of semantics. The hacker has reached the A.I.'s interface, and Kalerns group was either overpowered or bypassed. The way I see it, retreating to the surface is a gamble on whether or not by the time we get there the system is fully hacked, and if Kalern is or isn't alive to unhack it (god knows none of us can). However, if we DO find the Doctor then even if the A.I. is completely hacked, and Kalern is dead, we'd have a snowballs chance to undo the damage.
>>28870419Basically we go up there, and Kalern is dead and the system is fully hacked and the Doctor is dead, we're fucked. We go down, find the doctor, and even if the A.I. is hacked we'd have someone who knows what to do and whatever is left of our timmiy's
Rolled 67>>28870419>>28870342We must push on, you are right, we have blitzed ourselves into a corner, this seems to be the only way out
I somehow have the strangest feeling the doc has something to do with the AI hacking...
Rolled 14>>28870459>>28870450>>This A.I. cannot recommend devoting that proportion manpower to fotifications whilst Doktor Mendel is engaged against unknown forces. The A.I. stressed the importance of finding the Doctor over securing our base. It knew the risks. We must press on and pray we find the Doctor. If Kalern isn't an idiot, he will stay in the tanks and not kill himself trying to take back the core.
>>28870530Well then that would be a godsend and by the time we reach him all will be well.On the otherhand, if he isn't and is instead fighting for his life then if we leave to the surface, we just lost our only shot at unhacking the system without Kalern.
Rolled 38So consensus is to follow the rabbit hole until and see where it ends?
>>28870651I'm having second thoughts and trying to pin why.Why did the Doctor go so deep into the rabbit hole? What can we lose for following him vs losing him. Either option can mean death for us, I want to pick the one that has the least chance fo that.
Rolled 72>>28870651Yep, rolling
>>28870613Then again, we don't have a clear path to him anymore. Any one of these paths could lead us into an even worse fate.
>>28870742Wait. . .>>28870530Dammit anon, you make me doubt myself.Doubting is good tho. Saves us from a lot of trouble.Fuck it, lets go back up. We can't risk going down a path we don't know leads to and end up unleashing another Aduro monster commander situation.2/3 times in ede style quests we think we're doing something right, turns out to be horribly wrong.I think the right path is going down. Therefore, we should go back UP.
Rolled 4>>28870651Yeah, lets go down
>>28870785but the doctor will/might die, we must proceed forth anon
Rolled 25>>28870825damn it
Rolled 68>>28870742>>28870816>>28870825Well, if that's what you guys want. Alright then.>>28870651We're going down. I can only pray we come back up with the Doctor in tow.
Rolled 22Down it is.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80Ngl2RY8sA
Rolled 45Would you like to burn the tunnels as you go down, or something like that? Or simply walk and shoot at monsters as they come along?
Rolled 83>>28871013burn it all down but take samples? if possible
>>28871013Retaliation fire only. If something tries to burst out of a hole, light it up.True purging will be done at the Doctors recommendation. In any case, if the Doctor wanted this place purged he'd of had the Timmy's rip the flesh off the walls and if they just grew back within a couple of hours us wasting fuel on these would be a moot point.
>>28871013Scorched land tactics. Burn any and all tunnels as we proceed.
Rolled 24>>28871013The monsters retreated. Let's not give them a reason to come back.Fire only when fired upon.
>>28871080>>28871105Good points>>28871013Fire as they come along.
Rolled 10"Ve march onward to purge this filth from our heartland. Burn down anything that rears its head."Your soldiers marched onward through the twisting tunnels of corded, alien flesh. It was largely silent now, aside from the occasional blurt of a flamethrower or plasma spewer when a monster popped forth from the walls. The entire level had seemed to be a maze, the army could have wandered around for days had the Handpicked not stumbled upon the path the Timmys took. The amount of regrowth that had occurred in the amount of time since the hulking behemoths had passed through was astounding, but they were able to follow it.Eventually we came upon a cavernous gateway from which all of the biological growth seemed to be spilling out. In the middle distance a single, flickering fluorescent light hangs by its power cables. What do you do?
>>28871447>Eventually we came upon a cavernous gateway from which all of the biological growth seemed to be spilling out. In the middle distance a single, flickering fluorescent light hangs by its power cables.>In the mouth of a giant anglerfishWhat else can we do but approach and hope the mouth doesn't swallow us up?Keep your toxin troopers close, and walk.

>>28871742More than likely.especially after a roll like >>28871716
Rolled 43>>28871742Post limit is 350, so not just yet.
>>28871759thats odd...but is the thread autosaging?
>>28871870Autosage starts at 300I had no idea that there is a 350 post limit.
Rolled 6>>28871716>50The fluorescent lamp shakes on its wire. Then again, beginning to swing side to side. A third *THUD* rocks the corridor, and a trickle of dust mixed with ichor from popped fleshy veins rains down from the ceiling.Suddenly you realize these noises are coming from behind you, and the rearguard braces themselves as something similar to the shriek they 'heard' earlier at the onset of the battle echoes through their heads...but this time it is less of a screech and more a mewl of distress. The distant sound of rending flesh reaches your ears, as well as the screams of what must be dozens of the monsters dying simultaneously. Through the corridor you just came through you see the curtain of flesh turn black, and dissolve. In the new gap, you see the silhouette of a massive, humanoid figure. As tall as a Timmy, but far more gaunt.
Rolled 3>>28871886Oh, I thought that started at 350. New thread then I suppose.
>>28872031Lets finish up the battle here, and have a new thread start with the usual monthly options.
Rolled 49>>28872048Very good then.>>28872005God dammit, how do I even write this...give me a minute to brainstorm...
Rolled 90>>28872005Impossible shapes play with one another like a haze in an area around the figure as it approaches your blob of troops. The ground around its footsteps curdles and turns into pools of black sludge. As light from the fluorescent lamp begins to play upon it, you make out that its surface is composed of thousands upon thousands of eyes, constantly merging together and splitting apart. Its skin is a dark, sickly green that weeps streams of black fluid which seem to dissolve themselves in the unnatural haze around it before hitting the ground. The figure comes to a stop in front of your blob of troops, and though it doesn't move you can tell that its attention has shifted onto you. What do you do?This has gone on way longer than I expected and I'm sorry it's dragging...but it'll be over soon, I swear. Just stick with it.
Rolled 24>>28872406burn, Burn, BURN!!!! Only if it engages in any hostile manner towards us
>>28872406Colonel Schultz, our leading officer, stands up to the creature. He balls his right hand into a fist, and strikes his chest. Rolled 83>>28872454A silent message to burn this thing if it engages in any hostilities towards us goes out across the comm net. The thing stays utterly silent and still, aside from the faint sound of reality being passively torn, but something tells the men that somehow it...saw the message flick out across the Com net.
>>28872520Dammit, since when did we stop being consensus based.
Rolled 87>>28872475Timithious was at one point a member of the hand picked, maybe he still remembers, if that is still him"Easy there buddy, have you seen a chubby old German man running around down here with about 300 guys all named Timmy"
Rolled 55>>28872520so is it friendly or not?
>>28872629>a chubby old German manMendel is actually rather lean. You're confusing him with the Major that leads our other mutant research branch in Moldovania.
Rolled 58>>28872475Colonel Schultz makes his way to stand in front of the creature. It watches him, the eyes on its chest focusing upon him while its others continue to stare out at unknowable realms. He balls his right hand into a fist, and strikes his chest. He then extends his arm, held out forward straight, with palm down, and fingers touching."Heil"The creature's eyes all snap onto Col. Schultz. Its 'hand' balls up, and it duplicates the gesture."HHHhhhh-eeillll." The sound of its announcement is heard in several layers, taking a full second before it stops resonating in the air."Iii have come to finddd herrrr Doktor." it follows up, gesturing at a bulging section of wall halfway down the visible length of the corridor "hheee iss in ze wall overr there vith ze survivors."
Rolled 23>>28872688FUCK YEAH!!!!
>>28872688Then let us go meet the Doctor at last.Did you see Lt. Kalerns group on the way here, soldier Wotan?
Rolled 9>>28872688The thing proceeds to march down to the section of wall, before placing a clawed finger upon it...then a hand...then its arm begins to phase through. Along about half of the tunnel, the wall melts away and you see Dr. Mendel standing with his brow furrowed looking at the Eye-Creature, flanked by about 100 Timmys."Zank you, Tim." the Doktor's attention then shifts to the 400 or so Darwinyans standing further down the corridor. "Aaah! Oberst! It took you long enough. This situation is dire."Questions?
Rolled 84>>28872844Spill it doc, tell us everything you know. From the beginning.>time to gtfo
>>28872844Indeed it is. We seem to have lost the base on our way down here, and there are 200 less Timmy's with you than I remember. It was quite hard to get here, even with you clearing a path. >>28872893>>28872933Lets start with something simple. The sudden charge, and the dubious need for us to follow. Why did you press on ahead of us?
Rolled 94>>28872909"An excellent question. You see, this facility vas not alvays under State control. In fact, until you took control of it I vas the only State representative to know of it. However, that is not important to ze issue at hand." the Doktor's brow furrows, "I came down here vith ze Timmys because vithout me they vould have all died. >>28873061These 'specimens', I believe we encountered them earlier. Long heads, acid blood, some had mouths inside of their mouths. What in the Furors name are these creatures?
Rolled 14>>28873061"Ze heart of ze infestation is down here, und it has managed to take control over a secondary A.I. Core through...means I do not fully understand. However, zey look similar to some other specimens I have seen samples of in other pre-Fall facilities."
Rolled 27The scratching at the edge of your minds intensifies, beginning to form into whispers.
Rolled 71>>28873199Wodanaz looks towards the darker end of the tunnel, the one you didn't come from and begins to walk towards it. What do you do?
Rolled 85>>28873170>purgeNow that's a plan I can get behind, how much biofuel do we have left?
>>28873170>However, it has already killed 200 of my darling Timmys. So I vill defer to your military expertise to plan zis attack."As you know, our initial strategy was to secure the labs level by level, until the we closed our fist around the heart. Instead the Timmys unexpectedly decide to charge, and we were all forced to follow. But seeing the regenerative perhaps that is not so bad, as we are closer to the "heart" or core of this thing. What else do you know of it or of the beings we face?">>28873199Wonder if we are hearing things, see if the noise gets louder."Herr Doktor, have you noticed anything else odd about this place? As if there were sounds coming from where there shouldn't be?"
>>28873233Not enough for a total purge, if they can regenerate like mad.We get this, we'll have to get at the heart.

>>28873337Then lets follow.Use the same tactics that work, Toxin Troopers in the frontmost and rearmost, with Flame troops and biofuel mutants ready to purge. Keep some in the middle of our lines, and watch the ceilings and walls."Hey Wotanaz! If you see anything come our way, give us a hollar!"
Rolled 27>>28873337We are in a great position to make a final strike, but I'm going to kick myself if we end the game here for over extending ourselves. But if the consensus thinks we should do it, we might not get a chance like this again.
Rolled 84Wow, I've written myself into a corner and don't know how to handle it properly...
>>28873444I don't know. Even supposing we can fight our way back up there, or that Kalern and the Doctor can retake the A.I., we'll constantly have to fight the core AND the creature will grow stronger from us.Yes, we must end this now one way or the other

>>28873637>No we got that all under control.Except for the robots. Or whatever defenses A.I. strelok had up there.I'm just saying, we have to follow and support Wotenaz. Rolled 46>>28873729"I am The Queen. And what are you, that I have had so many of...but you are the first ones that sting?"
>>28873775"It was a natural response to a perceived threat, albeit it got out of hand. We were attacked by an unknown force, and sent some of our creatures to respond. When they and one of our own moved on without prompt, we had to follow suit.I am an officer of the Reich, a Darwinyan serving the Furors dream, and you do have many of my slumbering brothers. So Queen, who and what is your kingdom?
Rolled 87>>28873841"Mmy dominion is the hive, and my inheritance is the worrlldd. Wwhy sshould I not kill you where yyou stand?"The scratching at your minds becomes more persistent.
>>28873884"The same reason you haven't killed my sleeping kin.We can be an asset to your cause."
>>28873884Ah yes I see, well it seems our goals are aligned. Seems a pity to see all of the resources down here being squandered by our silly little squabble. Let's be pragmatic, certainly you see the benefit?
Rolled 6>>28873905"Wwhy do yyou think you aree more ussee to me as allies than hostss?"
>>28873961"Because we've fought your current hosts, and are here speaking right now. They aren't.How many potential "hosts" have managed that?"
>>28873961I think our very standing here, mere yards from striking you a final blow serves evidence in itself. We could be asking you these very same questions now, but I am not so foolish as to let opportunity slip between my fingers.
Rolled 32>>28873997>>28874008The Xeno hisses in pain at these comments and shakes its head from side to side while stumbling. A spark flicks across the plate in its crest.Wodanaz tilts his head at this."Ze Queen is not entirely herself. Und her forces are nearly here. Zey will be significant."What do you say/do?
>>28874114"Tell the Queen as much as we would love to prove ourselves with yet more of her current hosts, how much of a monarch is she if she has no control over her own subjects during the sanctity of parley?"Everybody get into formation, Toxin Troopers up front, Flamers behind them, the rest in the rearWe still stand in front of the Queen
>>28874170>>28874114Are their any good choke points we can fall back to?
Rolled 76>>28874223There are none. The tunnel is broad enough for 20 Timmys shoulder-to-shoulder. Otherwise it's wide open space all the way to the A.I. Core.>>28874170"*HISSSSS* I am not the one that invaded yourr sanctumm. Had I broken throughhh yourr doors and killedd your troopss would you allow me to existt unguarded?"
>>28874334..you did break through my doors and kill my troops.. Unless..were those robots under your control?
>>28874334We care not about that. But if you had broken through our doors, killed our defenders, and reached our very inner sanctum to speak to us face to face we would pay great heed to what the one who did that.Have we not done the same?
>>28874334>>28874426My point is this.Regardless of who struck who first, we have indeed fought your troops in these lower levels. We have fought them, and overcome them, and we are here in your doorstep. And rather than continuing to press on, we are hear offering you a BUSINESS proposition. One which would be of benefit to both of us, with the alternative of either of us wasting resources on a needless struggle that we can both avoid.
Rolled 89>>28874410Have you figured it out? Hmm...Roll 1d20
Rolled 19>>28874528Oh god
Rolled 3>>28874528were at page 10
Rolled 12>>28874600Almost there. If not, we'll just start up the next thread with a recap and continue the negotiation.
Rolled 20>>28874528"T-the rrobotss were.." a large spark went across the plate in her crest again and the queen shrieked in pain. Her guards assumed more guarded stances, and you notice for the first time that they have subtle augmentations on their backs and skulls also."Excuse me for a moment, zere is someone I think vee could use. Und be ready, if we don't end this now, zey will be forced to attack" said Wodanaz, before taking a step forward into the cloud around him......And stepping out in front of the SHT commanded by Lt. Kalern. In a flash, the lieutenant was in his hand.......And then they were back."Fffrau Queen iss beingg controlleddd. Iifff vee ccaannn remove zee platee, sshheee will jjoin uss.""Oh JESUS, What WAS that?? *Uuurgghhhh*" Lt Kalern managed to get out before vomiting.
>>28874678>...And stepping out in front of the SHT commanded by Lt. Kalern. In a flash, the lieutenant was in his hand....>...And then they were back. Now THAT can be useful.
Rolled 70>>28874711He sees everything.
>>28874678>>28874690I must say, I'm really digging Wotanaz I SEE ability a bit more than ede's.You're actually making it to where he really does have extended and useable sight, as opposed to a simple buff against ambushes (that doesn't really work against crits, which is when ambushes normally happen).
>>28874725To be fair, his I SEE is coupled with an extreme mutation of eyeballs and a nat 100 aimed at said mutation
Rolled 92>>28874725Wotanaz is a very special case.
>>28874690>>28874724Alright, let's see if Kalern can deactivate these things on them.
Rolled 38>>28874752He received 2/3 Nat 100s actually. It's pretty ridiculous. Then you guys got another that kept him from murdering you all.
Rolled 66>>28874678...Would it be possible to have Wodanaz go up to the Queen...and then melt the plate out? Or maybe sever its connection to whoever is controlling her? Can he see where the controlling signal is coming from?
>>28874802The plate might have a collapsible circuit type deal, so kalern will have to decipher it. I'd imagine Wodanaz would be able to give him aid like that I'd imagine.
Rolled 44>>28874802"The plate has replaced portions of her brain, zat vould kill her." The mass of eyeballs made a shrugging motion "Vhich I could do if you vanted. However, that path does not turn out so vell.""I can only see, not interact. Ze signal is coming from ze A.I. Core, however."
>>28874847Then assist Kalern in hacking that A.I. core. . .you ARE up to that task are you not, Leutnant?
Rolled 31>>28874847Could he pull off that trick again...and put some biofuel in the A.I. Core and set it off?
Rolled 15>>28874858"Hack an A.I.? Well no. I could certainly find the wires to cut though if you put me inside the defenses though."
>>28874860>>28874871That won't blow up the base will it?Well, you're the computer guy and Wodanaz can see inside the defenses. Right?. . .We'll get the men ready anyway.
Rolled 55>>28874871>>28874931Make it so. Doubt it'll blow up the base.
Rolled 33page 14 btw
Rolled 48>>28874947Bah, if this thread dies then I'm going to fall asleep and we'll resume on Monday. My writing skills need time to recharge anyway.
>>28874962As you wishdid you really expect us to get down this far or were you expecting us to head back up?
Rolled 56>>28874967I uhm...Well let's just say in the future I'll make my notes much more flexible. I never expected you guys to be so cautious on the first level. That one was fairly cut-and-dry. Then after that I didn't expect you to be so cautious when Dr. Mendel was in danger. Then I didn't expect you guys to get such good rolls for moving through the infested levels...this whole sequence has been very much a learning experience. I hope that whenever/however this Civ ends I can get an audience for the next one because it ought to be much better.Provided EDE doesn't resume by that time.
