Previously: An electromag tram carries a young rocket to her home, seeking a gift for a friend that could not bear witness to her birthday celebration. A man sneers at her from the corner of her vision and she greets him kindly, opening the damn that would be the confession of his woes and a lead on her most recent case.
A song is heard and a fragrance smelled, only one followed to the portal of a tangled ally. The young rocket finds that her acquaintance bears a liking for perfumes, yet the strong odor forced out the contents of her stomach, forcing her departure.

Arrival at the Lavender Quarter is an odd thing at night, yet still odder is the result of a Miko's obligatory spirit check. A phantom lingers upon the young rocket, and thus she is told she should stay the night amongst the dead and their communers.

You feel Lilac pull you away from herself, shivering slightly from your cold embrace with an ecstatic smile upon her face,"So, you brought it right?"
You give your friend a happy nod and present the cake container to her, a quick hand on her part, relieves you of the baked good and she holds it up in the air with a small amount of reverence.
"Cake! You actually brought it!" She hops around a bit, spreading the low and sullen incense smoke around the room.

A few twirls later, and she finally stops to open it, a slight tear glimmering in her eye as she bears a sad smile,"Oh, I broke it."

"Wh-what?" You toe over and peek at the box. Seems that in her joy, the cake's all smashed and rocked around.

"I-I'm sorry Cerulean, you brough this for me and I.. and I..." Lilac trembles a bit, as the tears begin to get a little bigger, as always she's overly excited and extra emotional when it comes to kindness.

With a little hug around her waist, you assure her that its okay. It's still good after all.

The two of you chat for some time about the party that she missed. Lilac listens intently, invested in the volleyball match, laughing about how Bruise played dead, and then "ooo-ing and ah-ing" at your macho brace.
"So it even makes it hard to breath? That sounds awesome, I'd love to try it! Can I try it Ceru, please, please?"

"Uhh, I don't think that's a good idea," You confess," It's my size, and umm.. I don't know. I'm a lot stronger than you."
There's a glimmer in Lilac's eye at this challenge," Stronger than ME, you say?"
She immediately resigns," Well. I guess it's a given since you're pretty much part monster and all. I've seen what they can do from here. At least, in the times that I've channeled lost rangers. It's still amazing though."

You scratch your head lightly, a bit bashful," Well yeah, I guess."

The blue flames of the candles flicker their light throughout the hazey room.

>Agatha doesn't seem to want Lilac to go out in the world.
Agatha doesn't want any medium outside of Lavender. I have a feeling that Mediums are really prized amongst strong nasty spirits.
>>
>>28887796
Prized? It's the other way around, isn't it? Mediums are our region's defense against those spirits.
>>
>>28887836
Strong Mediums are.

Weak/inexperienced Mediums? lolno.
>>
>>28887886
Whatever gave you that idea? Aside from pessimism/a desire for dark implications? It's not that I can't understand/sympathize with the feeling. It's just that I don't see any hints of it. It's just a possibility.
>>
>>28887918
Because ghost is strong against itself. Would make sense that mediums are more vulnerable to attack by malicious spirits, including possession.
>>
>>28888040
Yeah, see. That doesn't really point towards the mediums being offered up as sacrifices to ghosts. Just that they're mutually vulnerable against their enemies.

Now, if they were being offered up as a sacrifice to Agatha....
>>
You pout a little, recalling Lilac's wish from some time ago. She's brought it up now and then in passing. You've had mind to run it by The Boss, yet always thought it'd be a bit imposing to ask.
For, if anything Boss would need to do something about Agatha.

Maybe if you complete the mission you'd at least be able to ask something like that. It's be worth a shot for your friend.
"Lilac, you really want to become a ranger?"
The girl with namesake eyes beams in the blue dusky light, nodding fervently,"More than anything. I want to be free of this place and dance with all the living and deceased alike in this world." Lilac's eyes glaze over in a dream-like stare as she enters a brief state of fantasy.
"The danger, the thrill. Dancing upon death's door at a knife's edge. Would I be the next to be channeled, or would I live another day? Beasts and monsters from places unknown and untouched by humanity. I want to know what lies beyond not just the spire and the dome."
The medium clutches at her billowing robes, forcing out her true shape, that is actually rather waspish, as she falls back into her assortment of pillows and the like.

For the moment that she's enraptured by her fantasies, you smile plainly at her, realizing what you need to do for her. She's been here for too long, right? You look around at the gallery of candles upon the walls. Each one representing a spirit that the mediums control. In this room alone, you'd reckon that they number well over a hundred in Lilac's alone. Actually, now that you think of it...

"Umm Lilac? I come up here a lot but... I've never been able to walk up to the next floor, why is that?"

The sprawling Medium sits up at once, her eyes focused on you with her usual half-mad glimmer of a smile,"Oh, that. Well. Sometimes I'm on the 3rd floor, other times I'm on the 21st, and still others I'm upon the 50th or 67th. You keep walking until you find me though, right?"
You nod slowly,"Right..."
>>
>>28888070
I think you have a different interpretation of 'prized' than was intended or something.
>>
"That's because," She raises a finger, bending it slowly as she beckons forth one of the flames. As it pulls away from the candle, you see that these candles are never changed as the wick is unburnt.

"It's because of them, the spirits that reside in this place." As the spirit floats before her, casting a ghastly blue glow upon her face, she waves a hand, bidding it to grow.
"Some say that fast is slow and slow is fast in the spire, though I've been told that it's all in how one approaches with purpose. A visitor seeks a medium upon a certain floor. Their willingness to see them determines how soon they find them." She looks from the flame, and her eyes meet yours.

"This is my room, and why there are no memorials here."

You look back to the spiraling staircase that you had come from. The corridor had always made you feel a bit dizzy, though you never really asked why. Some things are strange even within the dome...

Lilac returns the spirit flame to its candle, though she looks a touch paler for it," Will you be leaving me tonight? Or did you want to speak to me of the phantom that's tried tagging along?"

Your eyes go a bit big at that,"Oh, yeah, that, right..."

> What did you really want to ask about it?
>>
>>28888284
Well, first things first; we should know why the phantom is lingering around us.
>>
>>28888284
>> What did you really want to ask about it?

"Well, umm, I guess I picked it up somewhere since a couple days ago. I met a weird man on the electro-tram today. Think it might have something to do with him?"

Lilac leans over her pillows to where you've taken seat, staring you directly in the eyes, seeming to search for something not unlike she's done before.
"Yes, yes, there may be something in that. Some people that don't come to the Church or Spire for cleansing may have things like that floating about. It's odd though."
Lilac's face scrunches up as she resumes her former position.
"Usually a spirit moves on when someone calls them to this place. The check by the mikos at the door is done more as a formality or tradition. Indeed, this is odd."

Your mouth droops open a little," I really don't like this Lilac, it's weird. I'm going to be okay, right?"

Your friend chuckles at that, a bit more giddy than she should be,"Oh yes, yes, you'll be fine. Though that's only because you're in my room and I'm here to take care of you."
Lilac reaches out a hand, her long nails almost like claws as though touch your head, feeling around your horn.

"What are you-"
"Shhh..." She quiets you with a single digit over her lips as she sbats her eyes shut and concentrates deeply, her hair slowly beginning to dance and writhe about her.

"The visitor does not remember its name. Not its name, history, or origin." She frowns at that, obviously displeased.
"What remains of its memories are scattered and hard to grasp like this,"She draws her hand back, a small smile drawing itself upon her face once more,"That's all I can gather like this."

"Like this?" Your mouth betrays you.
Lilac's visage darkens with a sinister grin,"No name. No one to call it. Only its slight attachment to you. We could use it, though you'd have to be the one to channel it."

Not liking where this is going already, you clutch a hand over your heart and squirm a little in place,"Wait, you mean I c-could channel it?"
The air before you is replaced with Lilac's eyes boring right into yours with an ephemeral glint in her flower-colored eyes.

Her voice but a whisper through her sunless lips,"With my help Ceru, yes."
Lilac place a hind upon your thigh, squeezing it gently as her visage pulls back to reveal a progressively manic desire within her.
"It's been some times since I've channeled, and it'd be a first for you with an unknown entity. It could even take..." Lilac's voice whispers through the smoke the next few words.

"All night long."

You swallow back your apprehension and slowly nod, gathering up your courage against the unknown and look Lilac right in the eye amidst her wild expressions and increasing mania.
"Right, I-I'll do it. How do we begin?"

You feel the presence of Lilac's hand vanish from your leg, and she rises up, her voluminous robes following after her as she grabs a few candles from the walls and brings them over, throwing back excess pillows until only two remain. One for you, and one for her.
She then sets the candles numbering five around the two of you, the flames drawing first a circle of blue flame around the two of you.
You suddenly feel a little weary for a moment
"This is to contain the influence." Lilac explains as she gestures to the flames, drawing her hands out in a circle above her head before bringing them together in a loud clap, enshrouding the whole room in a brilliant blue that vanquishes all shadows save for one that lingers above you.

When you see it outlined, it begins to panic all of a sudden, looking back and forth with gleaming red eyes, a cracked and worn away mask in its grip. A monstrous maw begins to open from the shadow as it roars, writhing about its fiery prison.
Lilac looks upon the thing as a doting mother, whilst your heart pounds from the mad phantom's visage. Wild and ready to snap at the first thing that would even attempt to offer it comfort.

"Come forth nameless one, she shall wear your mask for you..." Lilac speaks in a hundred different voices reverberating within your mind, heart, head, and soul all at once while you feel the things connection to you become all the more apparent. Its rage and emptiness synchronizing with your own mind.

You begin to hold your head in fear, breathing heavily the gentle incense of the room, having some effect at calming you down.

Tears well up in your eyes as you begin to tear through your gloves with the flex of your claws, hissing out your stress as you try to regain control over yourself.
You're not here alone. Your friend is with you. She's powerful, she can control this thing. She can help you.

Trembling with your body's implanted rage, you clasp your hands over Lilac's and she folds them around yours in turn. You find instant relief in her hands, the scream of the self-less spirit leaving your mind and conforming to the peace that a medium would demand of it.
Only Lilac's expression is not one of peace, but some kind of pleasure before ecstasy. You've seen her wear that expression after she channeled Caiss, Bruise's friend.

"Now it begins." Once more, a hundred voices of not-Lilac speak through you.
Your vision is obscured by something made of shadows, cracked and yet fleshy.

You suck in air to scream before-

____________________________________________________________
You find yourself typing away at a terminal, looking at numbers upon the monitor that scarcely make any sense to you. Yet your fingers move by themselves, understanding everything.
You're in an office, the shadows flickering across your desk at things that should be there, yet aren't. Obscured, and unrecognizable.

Shadows move around you in this place, and there are other box-offices like yours where other shadows clack away at dark space.
Sound filters in, murky and disjointed. Voices from people that aren't here, and those that shouldn't be.

Your fingers continue to move by themselves as numbers and names flow across the screen.
This is what you should be doing, this is what you've done for a long time. It's small, and its niche, but someone's got to do it. Someone's got to keep track of all this.

The question here though is, who are you?

This bleak office holds not that answer, nor should it really matter, nor does it really. You just... "are."

You hear something muted pierce the background fuzz.
" ___, hey.____ that report?" A shadow stands before you, and you rise up, collecting a few papers you've printed out around ten mimutes ago.
"Yes, _____ but _____seems ____ issue ____ his count."'
"Oh?" The shadow takes the papers from you and a face forms as you focus upon it.
Looking over the review, the faced shadow seems confused," ____Issue? Wh__"

"Pewter____ Wrong. ___ent email____ Remind ___self ____ look into."

Professor, I've been reading your work since the beginning of Gargoyle Quest, and I must say: You've done a damn fine job, and you've only gotten better. I doubt you remember me and my participation. Your quests have always been some of the best on /tg/, and the premature ending of each previous one was heartbreaking. It was a good ride then, and I hope it will continue to be.

One last thing; Keep kicking ass, mate. I'll be sure to read this quest in the archives tomorrow.
>>
>>28892248
Yes. It's basically us falling back onto Crytten's natural instincts and beating the fuck out of things. Not helpful in this situation, because we can't hit ghosts, and we'll likely go 10 grades of batshit on Lilac in the process.

Is that new OC, Ampup, I think it was called, is that going to be the first-form of Zinogre? Because that's gonna be boss as shit.

That explains how Evil type pokemon resist Ghost-type attacks, not necessarily how Evil attacks are extra effective against ghosts.

Maybe as purely spiritual entities, ghosts are vulnerable to malice and suchlike the same way psychics are?

You try to think to the email, that's the most promising lead you can garner from this, and you need to "remember" it.

The office rumbles as the eyes focus upon you intently, the place shifting and churning as you try to think to the email. The rattling breath of the passed on gives way to the dark walls breaking away into an open maw beneath the eyes as they leer upon you.

Your heart begins to pound, and a memory floods into you as the phantom draws upon you with an absent mind and an intent to take more from you than you'd ever be willing to give.

> Charles Zaphrain has sent a report of the numbers run from the Pewter warehouse's stock of metals from the quarry. There is a substantial disparity between the stock and the numbers reported having been mined. This will require looking into.
>Forward this to Miss Seraphis for her her appraisal and possible review of superior staff.

As the thing draws upon your vulnerable spiritual body, you feel this world torn away suddenly. The cracked shadows upon your face get cast away.

Tired, and a little woozy from the whole experience, you fall forward into Lilac's lap, woozy, yet the medium is not quite done with her task.

In the bleary corner of your vision you see Lilac open her mouth wide, wider than she should be able to.
With a bright expression she gnashes away at the tail end of the spirit, forcing it down her throat right up until the mask.
At that point, she holds the empty thing tenderly, caressing it as it breaks away into dust and then nothing.

You pass out, retiring for the rest of the night.

One of the reasons water is such a great type is because it (mostly) auto-unlocks ice-type moves. Between the two types, we have a strong attack range againswt most things. If you have dark, normal, water and ice, your attacks supereffective against nearly all things (freaking magnemite!). People grabbed ice to get STAB + plus avoid risk of evolving with a third type, though I dunno that it was a great move. Ideal choice would be to replace ice with something that is an extremeley strong defensive typing (Steel/Water is the 5th best typing combination in the game), or else something that grants offensive attacks that can trump anything we don't already have an edge against (FREAKING MAGNEMITE!)

>Success!

Your eyes snap open wide as you receive flash backs to that office, the eyes, the email. Your heart begins to pound again in your chest and you recoil from Lilac, curling into a ball, panicking as the backlash of that experience takes its toll upon you.
The lingering thoughts of the phantom keep trying to whisper to you, convincing you that you're not Ceru, that you're "it."
The pressure against your mind builds and builds as you mount your resistance, focusing on who you are. The same facts that bring you back from your "evil mode" allow you to calm yourself here.
"Lorelei's daughter."
"Rocket Ranger"
"Cerulean of Cerulean Quarter."
Simple things, yet they suffice. They suffice.

As you calm yourself, you see Lilac's awoken, looking at you with some concern that fades away into a bit of a yawn. You notice something different about the room.
You see the blue flames clearly now, "The incense is gone?

Lilac looks in turn, glancing to her right,"Ah, yes. It's all burnt out. I'll need to pick up some more. The spirits here like it." She smiles gently, a hand upon her stomach with some perverted form of a mother's glow.
"It's.." You mumble out, a bit dreary-eyed, unrested from the prior night.
"Gone. A part of me now." Lilac's eyes seem to have an unnatural presence to them.
"It is what we must do with naughty spirits that will not rest. I did this to protect my one and only friend." Lilac leans over and scoops you up from the floor by your neck and shoulders, snuggling against your chilled fur.
"You're cold as death you know, yet despite that you walk amongst the living. I could never stand to lose these visits of yours. I forget that I can't leave here when you're around, even if it's just for a little."

You return Lilac's hug with some hesitation, smiling besides yourself as you recall that she's one of the few that's actually tolerated your hugs since Crytten. The curse of being an Ice type after all.

Agatha is pretty much a living Spiritomb herself.

And when I say losing their individuality, I don't mean that they lose control. Merely that a part of their own personality is subsumed by the multiple presences that exist within their minds. They can still consciously make decisions on their own when they have a strong will, just that they must suppress their own emotions (since, from Prof's last post, it seems like the identity of the individual is blurred by the presence of a ghost) to control themselves better.

We have no in-character reason to want it, since poke-science has yet to uncover the connection between Feebas and Milotic.

After the embrace with Lilac, you bid your friend farewell and thank her for the help. You have a name and a memory. to work off of. This is good.
Yet you must find the man that you had promised to meet.

Double-timing it, you dash out of the Lavender Spire, recalling what Lilac had said about the spirits of this place and running down only one flight of stairs to the exit, making haste to the Tram station!

>Stamina 25%

It's a bit late in the morning by the time you arrive at the Veridian gym where you said you'd meet him the prior day.

Whatever sleepiness you had in your body has been pushed back by the urgency you feel in making this appointment.

Nearly sprinting around the grounds of Veridian, dodging around the Veridian Gym and their main members.
Eventually you find the man sitting off to the side beneath the shade of a tree looking on to the distorted grounds of various earthen and other miscellaneous "normal" rangers practice.

He looks over to you with the same disparate look as the prior day, his eyes barely even light up when he catches sight of you walking up to him.
"Ah, it's the horned catgirl from yesterday. Well, I'm here. How did you expect to help me?"

He's clearly interested/desperate enough to take any help he can take (he was contemplating suicide, after all). We don't need to show our cards early. Merely let him know that we have some knowledge on what's going on (from having gleaned it from the specter's memories).

Obviously, we just randomly saw this ghostly vision recently with our Lavender friend, and we think it has something to do with what happened to him. That's why we told him to meet us here today. We were hoping to do a bit more digging/tried to get more info from the ghost, but we've only got fragments. Thus, everything we share from now is in terms of 'we're helpful because we had the ghost ask for help, not because we're on some sort of secret corporate mission ahahadontbesillystoptalkingnow.

Despite your black dress and slightly torn claws, you consider yourself officially on this mission and at that, your face goes a bit somber as you make him answer your eye contact.
You stand with legs slightly spread and hands crossed behind you, at ease.

"Sir, I expect to help you in any way that I can, which is likely more than you think."
You wince a touch as you get a flashback to the email.
>"Charles Zaphrain"
You extend a hand, a reasonably polite gesture,"Your name sir?

He shakes your hand, keeping eye contact as you've managed to entrance him quite a bit,"The name's Charles Zaphrain. Chuck for short." He seems to consider that fact for a moment before sighing.
"Guess it'll just be "Chuck" if I don't get back in with Sylph, so just call me that."

This is the guy that was mentioned in the email. He's related to the ghost.

You nod, smiling a little without showing your teeth. One of your ears flick as they catch the far off chatter of the less disciplined Rangers taking notice of you.
"Mr Zaph- I mean, Chuck. Could you come with me for a walk?"

He seems a bit taken aback, yet nonetheless, rises from his seat, brushing kicked up dirt from his trousers and takes a stroll with you from the veridian gym. You unconsciously guiding him to the Rocket Dorms.

"So- Mr. Chuck. "
"Just Chuck is fine."
"So, Chuck. Something about numbers got you fired?"

He gives you a sullen nod, his eyes tracking the ground before him as he's resigned his fate to the hands of a little monstrous girl.
"It was an error in my accounting that showed a ton of precious metals we'd use in Repel tech and other important devices missing. They're expensive and kind of hard to find.
Only thing is that it was just in a report that I guess Seraphis, or someone above her caught wind of. Next thing I know, I'm fired and all other records show that we didn't have as much of the metals as I thought we did." He rubs at his face, rubbing his temples with the heel of his palms.

He shrugs,"I don't know, a month ago or something, maybe more? It's kind of fuzzy, honestly."
"He seems to kind of realize his position and immediately chortles," I can't believe I'm telling all this shit to some little monster trainee... What's my life come to. Oh Arceus, what's it come to."

Rude, though expected.

Er....yeah, look. That's only if he was interested enough in doing any investigating of his own. We may have a unique look, but amongst the citizens who barely ever interact with the rangers, they wouldn't be able to tell us apart aside from our uniforms and what our typings look like.

And honestly, it's pretty obvious that we're investigating this problem. We TOLD him we were investigating this problem back at the tram so he'd meet with us. If he knows we're a Rocket, he'd know we're a Rocket investigating this accounting error.
>>
>>28895012
then him knowing we are a rocket doesn't really matter, especially if he doesn't think this is a mission. just saying it isn't a great secret and if anyone actually cared then they would know.
>>
>>28895016
>forgot to add
And even if they knew what our typing was, they wouldn't know we were from the Rockets.

And who knows if they're even allowed to ask that sort of stuff from the Rangers? Seraphis could, but from her demeanor, she's likely quite well-to-do in Silph Co.'s hierarchy.

>>28895034
It would matter. Because he's linked to this case. Which means the possible perpetrator of the crime knows about him.

When you're investigating a crime scene, you don't muck around and touch everything. You have to be clinical and precise. Don't do more than you need to do. We don't need to take him to Goldie right now. That's premature. You reserve extreme actions for when the situation requires an extreme response.
>>
"I've..." You mull over exactly how you want to say it within your own mind before letting the words out," I've heard your name before Chuck. I don't think its your fault, really. Did you report it to anyone? Like a supervisor or someone?"

The man winces at the question, looking confused for a moment."I..." He seems to have some trouble recollecting it.
"I don't know of anyone like that. All my reports go right to Seraphis. But- hey!"
>The email was from someone who specifically received his number report. This is inconsistent with what you know.
Chuck glares at you, a wary look blistering within his eyes and a turned mouth speaking his suspicion," What do you mean you've heard my name before? Why are you asking me any of this anyway? Did they send you to spy on me, is that it?"

He seems to be getting angry, suddenly he seems to have some kind of epiphany, he stops walking," Or they sent you to kill me."
His eyes show disbelief that evolves into fear as he looks at your visage, obviously more monster than human.
"No, he whispers, backing away from you."

He seems to be letting his mind make things up..

[x]Pish posh, if I wanted to kill you, I'd just let you into the forest quarter. I'll tell you why I'm interested in this if you promise not to laugh.

Promise?

A ghost told me about it.
>>
>>28895111
we get the mission accomplished no matter the obstacle
>>
>>28895131
Cerulean could definitely become that sort of person. The thing is, do we want Cerulean to develop that way? You do, clearly. But what of everyone else?
>>
>>28895140
no i don't/ i just feel like she won't want to but knows she has to in order to accomplish the mission
>>
>>28895157
Yes, yes, but again, the same reply applies.
>>
>>28895131
Our morals are not an obstical. Ceru is still a good person at heart. She would never resort to the kind of brutal interrogation you are suggesting.
>>
>>28895165
i feel like would if he were uncooperative.

we could always just "introduce" him to goldy and let the magic happen
>>
>>28895165
unless it proved necessary. That type of thing is exactly why Goldenrod and Devon are on the team. It just so happens that we have a mostly cooperative subject right now were we can just talk. We are going to run in to people that are willing to kill to get away with this; the kid gloves come off then.
>>
>>28895157
It's fucking stupid to even bother with torture when you have psychics.

I mean you even acknowledge you have psychics when you mention them wiping his mind.
>>
>>28895140
Well, I wrote the thing originally and the guy you've been talking to is someone else. So there's at least one other person that sees it as an option.

Not that I expect it to get voted through.
>>
>>28895185
>>28895179
we have devon for anti-psionics.

Goldenrod is the brain-reader, and we don't need to "interrogate" people for that to happen. Just have goldenrod in the room.
>>
>>28895193
i was talking about the mind invasion. no one ever brought up torture
>>
>>28895131
And if charming him doesn't work then we'll knock him on the head and take him back with us.

But really, it's a lot more work to knock someone out in public, carry them back somewhere with us, deal with grumpy's bullshit so he does his mindreader thing for us, and then drag him somewhere else than it is to be sweet and charming for a bit. This'll take 10 minutes, tops, doing it your way will take hours. So we play it nice first.
>>
>>28895179
>i feel like would if he were uncooperative

Again, see, this is your personal opinion on the direction Cerulean would go towards. It's no use to say this kind of stuff as part of your argument on why we should do something like this since other people have the same reasons. We can only really vote on this.
>>
>>28895210
dude, it's fine to lose him for now.

We can find out where he lives with our contacts later.
>>
>>28895193
Interrogation is not torture. Nobody ever brought up torture before you went and assumed that it was.
>>
>>28895199
and Devon is also a trained 'interrogator.' but I do agree that mind reading comes before Devon's attentions, but some people are resistant to other espers but vulnerable to evil intent.
>>
>>28895210
but we'll never know if he was lying or if he missed something or a plethora of other things
>>
I vote no KO.
We can always track him down later.
>>
>>28895245
Well, it may not have to come to that. We already have a reasonable explanation to give to him as to why we're not an assassin.

The Chewbacca Defense always works.
>>
>>28895261
which reasonable explanation? We have like four
>>
>>28895261
Or, wait. I may have confused that for the Bunny Ears Lawyer.
>>
>>28895261
we have no home? we live with little bear creatures?
>>
the best way to convince him we're not assassins if he runs is to yell at him
"I'm not chasing you! See!"
>>
This is silly. Why would we have tried to cheer him up and said all that stuff back on the tram if we wanted to assassinate him?
>>
>>28895345
He's a silly, irrational scared man.
>>
>>28895228
People who don't know proper interrogation usually associate it with torture not realising it gets you no reliable information

We actually have the perfect alibi for nosing around.

We can say that the only reason we're investigating is because of the ghost that we came across by chance.

Perfect motive for meddling kids.

That's what I suggested.
But only if he promises not to laugh.

Why would he laugh? Ghosts are unquestionably a thing that exists.

When you die, you turn into a red-eyed smoke thing with a mask of the face you had when you were alive.

That's just how the world works.
>>
>>28895384
And you totally missed the point of my post
I said that people who don't know how proper interrogation works confuse it with torture so they think that interrogation includes torture so thw original anon probably thought interrogate meant getting the pain out

If you were a truly devout follower of the /tg/ dice deities, you would be unafraid to test your luck. For it not matter what we do or say; we are always subject to the whims of our lords.

We really should try to get some social perk thing to stack on top of the charm. It would help for when we end up leading squads, which is bound to happen with us as top jr rocket.

>DC21 Roll:22 Success!

You raise a hand to the man, shaking your head slowly with thought given even to the speed to make it seem as calm and collect as possible,"Excuse me Chuck, but you're mistaken."
He still looks at you warily, sweat beading upon his brow,"Am I? Am I really? How can I be sure after..." He seems to have some kind of difficulty.. as though it hurts to think.

"After what, Chuck? After I asked you questions and said that I'd help you? I need to know more if you want me to do anything."

His breath is still a bit quick, his eyes glancing about like a cornered animal looking for escape routes,"No, no. They're going to get me, I can't- How did you know my name?!" He breaches a point that you apparently hadn't covered well enough.

You twiddle your fingers shyly," Well, I went to the Lavender spire. I saw a ghost that had lingered around you for some time from what they day./

Chuck seems to relax a bit at that," Oh- Wait... Wait, what? A ghost?"

You nod slowly, enunciating the worlds as though they're matter of fact. You're surprised he doesn't know this.
"They were killed, received your report... You don't remember a friend dying?"

Chuck's hand flies to his head, and clasps there firmly,"Arceus, I don't remember that. Why wouldn't I remember something that..." He keels over, writhing in pain, soon followed by you as you try to help him back up," Chuck? Chuck!"

>>
>>28895748
Psychics are involved, it seems. We really will need to involve Goldie to help heal his mind. Maybe guilt trip him a bit. On how horrible it is that someone would tamper with another person's memories.

'Course, we'll have to place Chuck somewhere safe first and assemble the team properly.
>>
>>28895748
YoooooooooOOOOOOOOOU SUSPENSEEEEEEEEEEEE

>>28895765
This, basically.

Thanks for running professor. You're a champ as always. Look forward to our next encounter, yes?

I hope we got charm points for all those successes.

>>28895761
It has to be a strong Esper. We should consult Sabrina next. It may be a good line of questioning...if she's not behind it all. She's harsh but I doubt she'd participate in crime.
>>
>>28895748
Thanks for the session, Prof. Hopefully next time we'll get to see the Aveng- I mean, Team Rocket assemble.

>It has to be a strong Esper. We should consult Sabrina next. It may be a good line of questioning...if she's not behind it all. She's harsh but I doubt she'd participate in crime.
We may not even have to consult Sabrina. Over the time skip, Goldenrod was described as having become a very powerful psychic; he was just lacking in all the other areas. This would also be a good time for him to showcase his new skills.
>>
>>28895748
dang

I'm going with this>>28895774
We'll need him to know how mindwiping works and any ways to counteract it. Considering that everyone knows that Ceru drags Grumpy around, it should be better than taking Alexis.

Suddenly, Feint attack got a lot more useful for this job...

>>28895815

But goldy, I have a preeeesent~
Either that or we get a new psion trooper rookie, which is also good.
>>
>>28895805
Yeah, him first maybe. My mind went straight to Sabrina for some reason, but he could certainly offer insight.
Hell, we still need to tell him the mission.

>>28895809
If it's Belldum...good god. I hope not.
That's just.
fuck man.
>>
>>28895824
This would be an excellent way to introduce the team to the mission.

>Hey, guys. We're investigating corporate espionage. Goldie, I need you to un-mindwipe this guy for me.

It's also a prime opportunity to check if Goldie knows that we've had our minds tampered with too.
>>
>>28895824
let's just hope there aren't enough belldum to make something stronger.

Better be quick before they eat more.
>>
>>28895839
well, goldie and devon are allowed to know about the secret mission.

We'll have to talk to them in private about it away from chuck.
Or have goldie pull brain-conversation duty.
>>
>>28895824
Dude, we're going to be having Devon with us. Devon is Dark type, he chews through Psychics. And Fire is strong against Steel so he doesn't even have to get close.

I'm not all that worried, we can kill him, or them, there could be multiple ones, if we need to. Capturing him/them alive would be preferable, but we have Sanna for that.
>>
>>28895748
Good thing we picked Devon.
>>
>>28895845
Or maybe we'll be seeing how mechanical pokemon are made.

I hope we weren't attacked by psionic graboids.
He probably just knocked us over with his flailing. Yeah.

>>28895881
of course he knew, giovanni is an awful person and a consummate schemer.

But we love him 'cause he's da bawss.
>>
>>28895878
I think it means that we followed him down to the ground to help him up. Otherwise, Prof would have made it more clear.

>>28895881
Or maybe he was just covering all the bases. We've got a pretty well-rounded team for an investigation mission. We're a charmer, Devon can hunt down and intimidate, Sanna can capture targets, and Goldie is a psychic (which is always useful). Devon and Cerulean would both also be effective fighters, especially against psychics.
>>
>>28895881
It's entirely possible.

But he knew we would work it out, he has confidence in us because we're his best student.
>>
>>28895910
I am confident he is going to send us at crazy insane odds repeatedly to have fun with his shiny new ace cadet.

I am less confident he's sure we'll beat those odds, and instead am confident he gives us like 70% odds.
>>
