You tell Midori what you know about the Prophet. In low, hushed tones, you tell her everything you know about Mikuni Oriko and why you think she wants to kill you.

She takes it well enough. She keeps her questions short and concise, asking about details that you may have missed or glossed over instead of asking you to repeat things.

For a moment, you don't see the awkward, blushing girl you just had a date with - you see the Magical Girl in her, the Callidus trained from day one to be able to operate behind enemy lines. It's easy to forget about that kind of thing, you suppose, when all you see is her being nervous and shy around you.

Or you being rescued by her.

The things you miss when you're too busy having your ass saved.

You'll make it up to her. You're definitely going to.
>>
>>28897088

In any case, you also tell her about the Golden Weapon in Oriko's possession, about how you, Kharn and Malal had fought its original wielder once. And how it very nearly killed all three of you, had it not been for the Betrayer suddenly being bestowed a Golden Weapon of her own.

As you finish giving her the summary of what happened in the idol mission - about what Lucius told you - Midori is silent for a while, looking down at the remains of her breakfast. To her credit, she doesn't look frightened, or cowed - simply alert and attentive, turning what she'd learned over and over her head.

"I...should we tell Kyoko-san about this, sempai?" She says here, finally. "She talked to me about Oriko during our mission, and from what I remember she...well, she really likes her. As a friend, I think..."

How do you respond?
>>
>>28897095
[x] Yes, probably. But you didn't want to shorten the date for it.

alright, gotta make sure we don't forget anything:

1) Get Kyoko's help with talking Oriko down
2) Get Kirika's help with talking Oriko down. Maybe get Sayaka's advice for dealing with Kirika.
3) Try to find out who the other person with Oriko is. Could be another golden wielder or worse.
4) Ask Mami why everyone is freakin targeting her. can we steer this into finding out about her golden weapon?
5) Talk to Pinky, maybe bring Kyoko or Sayaka. I'm worried about not time-stopping for so long.

We should probably remind her that it's not just Midori's safety we're concerned about.

My current idea for that is to terrify her to the point where she thinks we're going to kill her and then give her the choice of working for us.

Something along the lines of "You have thirty seconds to convince me not to kill you. Make use of them."
>>
>>28897134
This
>>
>>28897265
The fact that she's such a fan and hasn't contracted yet indicates that there's a story there.

It might be fun to try and deliberately mess up Malal's plans, but we should consider the implications before we rock the boat too much.
>>
>>28897265
It's crossed my mind, but I don't think you can force a contract.

Besides which, forcing anyone into the Meguca lifestyle... it's the kind of Chiaki has a deep aversion to, for some reason. God knows why. Some forgotten past trauma, maybe.

No. This is a stupid idea. Remember Kirika and how involving people didnt really work out.

>2) Get Kirika's help with talking Oriko down. Maybe get Sayaka's advice for dealing with Kirika.
I dont think that will work without handing the sword over to Oriko and then it will just add Kirika`s crazy to Oriko`s crazy so lets not do that.

>3) Try to find out who the other person with Oriko is. Could be another golden wielder or worse.
Let Midori handle that. Let her question the girls we captured, in the Barrier-Incident she prove more than once that she can be savvy about what people say and what to say to people. And she is our Aide, let her handle some stuff.

>4) Ask Mami why everyone is freakin targeting her. can we steer this into finding out about her golden weapon?
This is stupid. We already now that Oriko is targetting Mami because she knew that is the closest person to Murderface. That may change now since the kiss went viral.

And we already know that Mami has some secrets of her own, the last Phone-Entry spelled that out even for the slow ones.

>5) Talk to Pinky, maybe bring Kyoko or Sayaka. I'm worried about not time-stopping for so long.
Yes about talking to her. No about dragging Kyoko or Sayaka into it. If anything, Midori, but that only after we ask Midori`s Opinion on this.

But like I said, this is just my rampant paranoia screaming at me. It'll probably turn out she's really just a kid with a hard-on for journyalism and an obsession with the fictions surrounding Magical Girls.

We should offer her a private interview as part of the interrogation, if she promises to never bother us on a date again.

by Murderface standards, a good day's work.
>>

But we didn't. Because we had sniper overwatch and Sayaka guarding our sniper.

Had we not involved Misaka and Sayaka, we would be DEAD.
>>
>>28897322

You can't just say "no" to everything asshole. You have basically just removed Murderface from the entire plot with your post. Are you saying we should just sit in our apartment talking to Pinky? Great plan.

No, we will talk to our aids, and see if we can get help from Kirika. If Kirika wants none of it, she can sit in the locker for the rest of the quest for all I care.
>>
>>28897383
completely different person here but i thought magical girls had this almost radar-like thing going on where they can detect normies and sparkles alike, and only a callidus could trick it
>>
>>28897393
And if we involve Kyoko , Kyoko will die because she believes in her "friends". Remember the time where Kyoko sacrificed herself to stop Sayaka-Fish?

I dont want her anywhere near Oriko.

Kyoko is stupid like that.
>>
>>28897412
1st are a serious exception to the normal rules, by all accounts.

Like, their Eversors are world destroying juggernauts.

Fuck alone only knows what their Callidus can pull off in relation to a normal MG.

But it's not something we can really plan for. Only try and work around if it turns out to be the case.

I'm inclined to take NECO at face value.
>>
>>28897429

That, I will agree with, with the caveat that if she ASKS we shouldn't try and deceive her about it. She isn't an idiot, and will work it out eventually. No reason to involve her at this point, though.

Your example was still stupid though.
>>
>>28897403
How did I remove Chiaki from anything?

Does it really need spelling out why taking Kyoko/Sayaka to the barrier is dumb?
Does it really need spelling out that Chiaki will obviously be busy with another mission so we can delegate so stuff?
Does it really need spelling out that Chiaki will engage Oriko and her band of merry misfits herself?

So fuck you and fuck you passive-agressive shit.
>>
>>28897322
>I dont think that will work without handing the sword over to Oriko and then it will just add Kirika`s crazy to Oriko`s crazy so lets not do that.
Really, the whole thing hinges on how Kirika will react to learning that Ahriman is using Oriko as a puppet. Remember, Kirika and Oriko were really close.

If Kirika takes exception to this, then we'll probably have her help out with stopping the Prophet of her own free will.

And if not? We'll just leave her where she is. No biggie.

I'm putting my money on Noriko. It would explain how NECO's article hit on all of Enishi's most sensitive points, and why it came so coincidentally close to just after Enishi and Noriko ran into each other at the hotel.
>>
>>28897429
It's tricky because if we DON'T tell her she's going to take this shit pretty hard if she doesn't find out until after the fact.

Which is why we want Sayaka's read on the situation. Because we're shit at this, and Sayaka knows her better than anyone else and more than anyone else she doesn't want to see her dead or witched.

If Kyoko comes out of this hating us... well, that's a sacrifice we'd make to keep her alive, I think.

>>28897494

Not that I can recall. The average Officio has about 1000 mg's, but like I say, the 1st is exceptional.

(I'd bet probably single figures, but that's a hunch. Frankly they probably don't need any more than that)
>>
>>28897486
Kirika could just lie, tell us that she'll help calm Oriko down, and then help her and Ahriman against us.
Kirika still hates us, and we don't know if love will outweigh hate with her.
>>
>>28897486
Can we really trust Kirika-Swords word on that? Of course she will say that we totally should hand her over Oriko so she "talk" to her or something.

There is only a miniscule chance that she will help us and she ends up with both weapons either way. Is it really worth the risk?

I would also like to point out our adventures with golden weapons so far:

- Ahriman mopped up the floor with Us, Kharn and Malal and she JUST had the staff at that time.
- Kirika mopped up the floor with us. We were extremly lucky and Misaka.
- Whatshisname wasnt even a meguca and went full Demonhost due to bangles. Again we had Kyoko and Tiny Pete.
- Kharn also mopped up the floor with us even though we had a golden weapon and Kharn wasnt even serious.

I dont you should take the prospect of battling Oriko using staff and sword, lightly.
>>

>>
>>28897557
>The average Officio has about 1000 mg's
No, I think the average is smaller than that. The Ninth has a thousand, and that's after absorbing the Third and it's considered to be bloated by others.
>>

Nah, we offer to trade Kirika's katana for Ahriman's staff.

Basically we give Kirika one last chance to kill us, double or nothing.

Kilgore was his name.

And you bring up a good point; yes, Oriko is unContracted, but she has a Golden Weapon. We've seen firsthand that just because the wielded is mundane, that they're going to be anything that can be handled by regular MG means.
And unlike with Kilgore and Yuu, where the soul of the Golden Weapon didn't like the wielder, both Ahriman and Oriko are working together towards a common goal. So they may be more than we initially think.

You nod, here. Yes, you definitely have to tell Kyoko about Oriko being the Prophet. Even you know that Kyoko was rather enamored with the soft-spoken girl. You're just...well, you're not sure how to broach the subject with the Eversor without screwing it up somehow, without Kyoko going off to confront Oriko by herself. You could see that happening all too easily.

One thing's for sure, though - you're planning on asking Sayaka for help there. If there's anyone who could stop Kyoko from acting too rashly, it'd be your Equerry. She knows what makes Kyoko tick, after all, and would get her to see sense much more easily than you could.

Midori nods here, as well. "That sounds like it'd be for the best, sempai. Miss Sayaka telling her would blunt the shock some."

That's the idea. So, if she could make sure Kyoko doesn't hear about it until then--

"My lips are sealed, Sempai." She gives you a smile. "Thank you for telling me. About...about everything."

You shake your head. It's...well. You're surprised that she isn't freaking out about this. You did just confirm that she'll be in danger because of her association with you.

The green-haired Callidus smiles a bit wider, here, before carefully reaching forward and placing her hand over yours. Giving your fingers a squeeze.

"I'm not worried, Sempai. Well, maybe a bit." Midori nods here. "But I know Sempai, along with everyone else, will do their best. And, well, I don't mean to play down how dangerous the Prophet is, but after Siberia...I think I can manage." She smiles at you again, a shy but confident smile.

Ah. Siberia.

...About that. She never really told you about everything that happened there. Just...bits and pieces. You don't remember most of it yourself.

[1/2]
>>
>>28897729

I assume, like with any large group of people, it wasn't black and white. Girls probably had all kinds of reasons to join the 9th or stand their ground and fight.
>>
>>28897802

"I...I was told by Souji that I should be careful telling you about Siberia, Sempai. He says I should take it slow, to...not overwhelm you with it. And myself, too." It's here that she lets out a sigh. "I'm...I'm not sure of what happened myself, but I'll tell you what I know soon enough. Is that alright?"

You nod. Whenever she wants to, and whenever she's ready. You'll make time for it.

"Miss Midori!" It's here that Kumatora calls from outside. "Everything's set up! We're ready whenever you are!"

"We'll be right out!" Midori calls back, and she squeezes your hand again as she stands up. You blink here, and do the same. What's going on?

"W-well, just a little something, about...well, Sempai, about what happened in Siberia." The green-haired girl giggles softly. "Just a way to remember a friend."

You had more questions then, but you stay quiet instead as you let her lead you outside. To the cottage's backyard, facing the lake.

It's a bonfire. A small one, already lit and burning quite readily, the faint smell of lighter fluid evident from the smoke, along with the acrid stink of burning paper. A few ways from it, you see Kumatora cutting open boxes and throwing their contents into the bonfire - sheafs of white paper, some of them bound together, and all of them sporting writing and drawings on them.

"We were supposed to do this last night. Bonfire an' everything." Kyoko says from behind you as she carries what looks to be a huge bouquet of flowers, with a teddy bear nestled among the roses. "But, uh, well, that happened. So we're doing it this morning." She offers you an apologetic grin. "Sorry."

But a bonfire? What for? And what's the bouquet for?

"It's...well, it's for Wakaba Mirai, Sempai." Midori smiles. "Do you remember her?"

How do you react?

I just like seeing the characters suffer horribly.

Which is why Midori is going to inevitably betray us after Chiaki confirms that there's nobody else she wants to date. Mami was in on it the whole time. That's why she encouraged our relationship in the first place.

And as we bleed out, Midori will smile down to us and admit that she really did love us in the end.
>>
>>28898207
rotting crying corpse? That's gothic.

Seeing the person you failed just as you remember them, and then waking up and realising just how badly you fucked up and how everything can never be all right again? That's noir.
>>
so, i just finished watching the last episode, and before i go find a (hopefully) decent camrip of rebellion, i have three questions. when madoka rewrote the universe, did she change the incubators somehow? because kyuubey seemed less of an arse at the end. or was that just that he had less incentive to be a bastard?

secondly, just what the fuck was walpurgis?

Thirdly, what were the reality-breaks around homura's back in that last scene post-credits? was that madoka fluffing around, or just general magic?

if theyre explained in rebellion, no spoilers pls
>>
>>28898248
>he had less incentive to be a bastard

>>28898248
>what were the reality-breaks around homura's back in that last scene post-credits
In my head canon, the wraiths are from the various timelines where Madoka did not ascend and rewrite the rulebook.
>>
>>28898233
It's not like we've been in that situation before, being held in a loved one's arms after she's just fatally wounded us.
>>28898248
They're spoiler, walpurgis is just a bigass witch, and they're not explained at all.
>>
>>28898248
Haven't seen Rebellion yet, but from the series itself and interview/extras stuff I've read:
>he had less incentive to be a bastard
Pretty much. The new system gave the Incubators zero reason to be manipulative and deceitful; the enemies that Magical Girls fought were created by normal people's emotional entropy, and there was no Witching.

>just what the fuck was walpurgis?
Implied to be an amalgamation event of the accumulated despair of Magical Girls throughout time; past, present, and future.
>>
>>28898277
The way it was explained at the end of the series made it seem like the wraiths are the manifestation of negative emotional energy that was denied the outlet of witches. It all needed to go somewhere, so it manifested as wraiths.
>>
>>28898300
See I'd always thought Walpurgis was a multi-MG witch.
>>
>>28898277

>>
>>28898248
Question 1 & 3 are explained in Rebellion.

And Walpurgisnacht seems to either be a HUGE ASS witch or an amalgam of magical girls, dont know if you noticed by her familiars happen to look like Shadows of Magical Girls.

>>
>>28898248

I'd say Kyuubey seems less of a bastard just because he has less incentive to, yeah. That and it just seems that way because he just gets that one scene post-reset.

Walpurgis night is simply an amalgamation of witches. I think they explained it as originally a single witch that combined and assimilated other witches through the ages. Might be due to a trait it originally had.

If you mean those wings, they're just some special magic she gains apparently, if going by the PSP game as it's her final skill there. I'd like to think that as being result of her memory of the previous timeline. When she uses it in the game Homura's lines are always about how she remembers (despite the entire game being pre-reset).
>>
>>28898317
That's pretty much how I took it, only that it doesn't seem to be limited by current-time MGs - which is why it's always too damn powerful for anyone short of Madokami cheating the system; if Homura and co. become more powerful to defeat it, it retroactively gains the power of their witch potential. And the more Homura tries, the more she despairs about it, compounding the problem.
>>
>>28898248
Well, coobs wasn't changed at all. He was just being subtle this time. You learn why in Rebellion.

Walpurgis is conglomeration of multiple witches. The wiki goes into more details and speculation based off of Faust. http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Walpurgis_Night

I'm still not sure about your last question. Possibly the straw that broke the camel's back that kicks off Rebellion?

You blink, here. Yeah, you...you remember her. Not all that well, though - probably a side effect of the procedure you had. Wakaba Mirai...the girl you encountered with her and Kharn, during a bear hunt in Siberia. She wanted to take Midori back. You and Kharn stopped her. And she witched out just as you were interrogating her...

"She did, Sempai." Midori nods. And...she helped me, in the nightmare, while I was trying to rescue you. She helped me get you out of there, and..." It's here that her voice starts to falter. "She sacrificed herself to get me out of there, too."

"I met her once, actually," Kyoko cuts in as she hands Midori the bouquet. "Before the shit with the Third started. Brutal with her sword, and you had to watch out in case she summons a bear on you. But really very nice, and she never really went for the kill. Just enough that you'd back off, and she'd salute like it was a kendo match or something."

Midori smiles. "That's...that was Mirai-chan, all right. She wanted to be a Knight more than anything else. She wanted to...to join the Second Officio. But Jyuubey wouldn't let her transfer. She finally did manage to convince him once, though, and she left to take their trials." She shakes her head. "She didn't pass. We both cried about it for a week."

Another giggle escapes her lips, one breathy and weak, bordering on a sob. "I...I was sad that she didn't get in, but I was also secretly happy that she didn't. B-because that would've meant my losing the one friend I had in the Tenth. I...I never got to tell her about that, though. I never got to tell her so many things."

The green-haired Callidus exhales in a tremulous, shuddering sigh. "And I never...I never got to properly say goodbye to her like this. Everything happened so quickly, and...all I knew was that I was supposed to be the one saying goodbye to her. I was supposed to be the one who died. But she saved me, and...and.."

>>
>>28898373
As Godoka's final link to the physical universe, I think those abilities are a "gift" from Madoka. Hence the bow.
>>
>>28898403

You watch as Midori reaches up to cover her mouth with a hand, her head bowed, and it's here that her shoulders start to shake. The plastic wrapping of the bouquet crinkling as she holds it together against her. Kyoko nudges you gently to go to her, cocking her head towards the Callidus in a pointed gesture - but before you could, Midori seems to compose herself, despite her now reddened, glistening eyes and flushed cheeks.

"I'm...I'm okay, sempai. I'm fine." She smiles at you again. "I promised her - and Miss Malal - that I wouldn't bother with the waterworks too much." She turns to Kyoko and nods. "Um, Miss Kyoko, if you please...?"

Kyoko nods in return, pulling out what looks like a worn prayer book from behind her. "Er, well, my dad was a practicing priest, so...I know how this goes. Sorta." She gives you a small smile, here, before flipping open to a bookmarked page. "Sorry if I get some parts wrong. I...I'm not really asked to do this kind of thing much, but I'll try my best."

"It's fine, Miss Kyoko." Midori shakes her head, working up a smile even you could tell she didn't really feel. "That much is enough."

And so it began. A short ceremony to pray for Wakaba Mirai's soul.

You've never been for things like these, but you get how important they are. How they not only gave respect to the departed, but also offered a note of finality, of closure, for those still mourning. For those still grieving.

You wonder idly, as you listen to Kyoko fervently lead all four of you in prayer - your hand firmly holding Midori's own - what yours will be like.

Who would stand here to pray for you? Who would mourn? Who would even bother turning up?

Probably no one, but...you hope at least even one would. So it wouldn't be the world's most pathetic posthumous ceremony.

But hoping for one to turn up is probably one too many, though. More than you would ever deserve.

Personally I always thought that those Wings are Foreshadowing or accumulated Karma.

Remember how Coobie explains that Meduca is such a powerful Meguca because with every effort of Homura to save her Meducas negative Karma grew and grew?
I wondered why this isnt the same for Homura.
>>
>>28898430

The ceremony ends with Midori throwing the bouquet onto the bonfire. All four of you watch in silence as the flowers start to immediately wilt at the searing heat before finally catching flame. The teddy bear is the last to actually go up, its stubby little arms remaining open the entire time, for the hug that will never come.

"Hey, Murderface." Kyoko whispers as she steps up beside you, her gaze still on the bonfire. "I know what you're thinking, you know."

...Really? Does she read minds now, or something?

"Nah. But, you know. The occasion and everything." She nods towards the bonfire. "Um. Are...are you still angry with me over thing with NECO? I...I just really want you to know how bad I feel about that. The last thing I wanted was to ruin your date, and...I guess I got carried away, there." She manages a sheepish smile here. "It won't happen again, I promise. I just...I just want us to be cool again, that's all."

How do you react?

Can we start planning for the eventual fuckup that will happen when we meet Wendy? the wifu wars are about to start having in game casualties if we don't get our shit together. the way i see it we have a few options

1. The wendy route: basically we tell her that midori was just a bed warmer till she showed up. while this would probably smooth things over with Wendy, im sure everyone else will hate us. Forever. Also this kills the Midori

2. The midori route: tell wendy that it was a stupid promise to make. that part of you loved her once, and that is still does, but murderface or kong or whoever it was is gone. the lingering feeling we have made us say that but the way we are now it wont work.

3. we tell them both that we are a terrible person and try to drown ourselves in alcohol and self loathing while shunning all social contact. i think this option is the most in character and may be the only way to unlock the harem route. the way i see it Midori and Wendy may bond over trying to save the only thing they have in common, chiaki.

tell me these suck or whatever but we need to get this conversation going
>>
>>28898678
Fourth route: we currently love Midori. We did love Wendy, and might still do so. We have absolutely no idea how to reconcile these two things, and want to ask for their forgiveness and patience while we try to figure out how not to fuck this up. Well, how not to fuck it up worse.

It is possible to be in love with more than one person at once, you know.
>>
>>28898678
>we need to get this conversation going
We really don't.

This is what stank up the last thread.

We do this the same way Murderface does everything.

>>
>>28898678
3 a best
>>
>>28898707
...we just, in-character, saw the end result of one of the two worst bits of seat-of-the-pants derpery in the entire quest.

So no, I don't think playing this by ear and thus praying that those same chucklefucks who screwed us the first two times won't go for the trifecta is a good idea.
>>
>>28898670
Well first of all, where the hell did you even find the full soundtrack, cause I've been looking forever.

Last thread was a lot more toxic shitflinging, this seems like a legitimately good thing to discuss (if it's done without more shitflinging).

>>28898740
Is it /really/ a harem if half the members are ghosts or something?
>>
>>28898678
I think you're basically right. At this point I think we can only have one. Whichever we don't choose will turn suicidal and/or homicidal. If we chase after both, we end up with neither.

Ever seen a manga or anime were the "couple" would kiss and the next day one of them would be like: "does that mean s/he likes me?". Read a few things here and there saying that a relationship isn't seen as formal and exclusive in Japanese culture until a confession has been given. As such, one could claim cultural differences for that particular scene in question.

Personally, I think that's just crass and goes completely against Chiaki's character.

Chiaki makes a lot of mistakes, yes, but she takes responsibility for her actions and doesn't try to brush them off in some of the appalling manners suggested in the previous thread. In reality, the intent behind her words doesn't matter (because anon will never agree), but rather how Wendy took them.

A straightforward apology is, in my opinion, the only way to move forward here.

And now, I go back to work.

Problem is that we probably are still in love with Wendy in addition to being in love with Midori. Normally, you don't stop being in love with a partner who dies, you just eventually fall in love again with someone else. This isn't generally a problem, because dead partners don't usually come back.

In other words, Wendy isn't really an "ex" in the usual sense of the term. This is what's causing a lot of the problems, I think.

As much of an ex as is possible given he circumstances because there was no "relationship" anymore. Wendy died and Murderface forgot.

Chiaki tried to patch things up, and made them worse instead.

Now is the time to own up to that fact and apologize.

The route is basically the same as we'd do for anyone.

Try to talk her down while on the defense, if she's still aggressive, we shoot off non-fatal parts and try again; if she's still acting crazy (read: not in our interests) we put her down gently.

The same as if anyone of our magical girls wanted to suddenly kill each other. We'd probably put down Midori if she went bugfuck insane, too. Tearfully, but we'd do it.

Except I don't think we can do that for Wendy, because if we bring anything less than our absolute A-game she will walk all over us and dance in our intestines.

First, it's at least valid in the sense that a) memories you've otherwise forgotten can be tied to stuff you still remember and b) absent memories of a nasty breakup, the things that made you get together the first time are likely to make you do so again.

Second, in a world where magic and miracles are real it's possible that some Hollywood logic applies. Like it does with explosions.

I just really like the dynamic between both pairings. Sure, I back Chidori mainly because their relationship as it stands makes the most sense for Chiaki right now (and I honestly interpreted that "Get things right" promise as "Don't fuck up with Midori like you did with me").

But I love Wendy's characterisation, and how she and Chiaki interact with each other, just as much as I love Midori and her interactions with Chiaki.

From an OOC standpoint, I also really like NECO, even if IC she's a shitty cat that needs to be taught a lesson.

Personally, I really like Wendy as a character, but I can't see a relationship working there. She and Chiaki are just too similar and she's still treating us like Kong, not as Chiaki. That aside, a relationship with her, as Mami implied, would be a step back in Chiaki's development. Basically, a relationship is give and take, but there isn't that here and their "chemistry" just doesn't click right for me.

But, and this is something I have brought up with others before, Wendy does add something to the plot as a whole that I've considered missing from the start: a close relation that cannot be remembered due to amnesia.

You blink at Kyoko. Concern is written all over her face, and it looks like she's bracing herself for the worst-case scenario. ...It's almost a little cute, to see the usually-easygoing Eversor distressed like this. And it's definitely more than a little surprising that she's actually worried that you're pissed at her, instead of simply not giving a shit like she always does.

But seriously, you? Angry at her? You've repeatedly said earlier during the breakfast that you weren't. NECO turned out to be a freaking ninja! She sneaked past an entire security detail, Squad Hiryu and even Enishi! There's also the fact that Kyoko actually managed to catch her - yes, she let NECO take the picture, but now where is the damn cat? And who put her there?

"I...uh...is that a trick question, Murderface?" Her brow furrowing. "Because, uh, I'm not really good with them, and--

No. No, it wasn't a trick question.

"Oh! Well, uh, then Kuma-chan and I did it, of course! And she's in Silent Room 3A, just like you said you wanted!"

...Yes. So. You can't be angry at her, since she managed to catch NECO in the first place.

"Ohh, I get it!" The red-haired Eversor nods, her one good eye wide. "Yeah, so, you weren't really mad at me after all? We're still cool?"

Always have been, never stopped. It's here that you punch her in the arm, a mock punch, and immediately regret it. It's like punching fucking concrete. Freakin' Eversor musculature, how the fuck do they get into shape like that?

You force yourself not to cry out or show pain, though. That's just not done, not right now.

In any case, uh. You're angry about a lot of things, but not at her. As long as she's more careful next time, then things between you won't be changing for a very long time.

Personally I'm in with the 'Midori and Chiaki don't have the basis for a lasting relationship crowd; they just have a sort of hero worship attraction and what amounts to a desperate hunger for positive, loving attention.

So the clear answer is NECO route.
>>
>>28899220

"A-ah. Yeah." Kyoko finally grins at your reassurance, wide and beaming and genuine, with no trace of the reluctance or hesitation earlier. A sincere joy radiating from the Eversor, as if she was honestly relieved that things were back to the way they were between the both of you.

"Thanks, Murderface. It's...yeah, I'm glad." She returns your mock punch - and you force yourself not to drop to your knees and cry at the stab of crushing pain. "And if you bite it, I'll stay until they're lowering you to the ground, or flinging your dusty ass from a cliff or something."

Likewise, you manage to murmur in the most deadpan voice you could achieve under the circumstances. Finding yourself returning her grin.

Kyoko. Also another puzzle, about how she came to be your friend.

But you're not that much of a hurry to find out just how, or why.

Whatever it was, you're glad it happened.

With the ceremony over and done with, all four of you make ready to leave Mami's cottage. Kyoko and Kumatora will have to come back later for most of the stuff they used for the date, but for now, they'll be driving both you and Midori back to Headquarters.

Overall it was...a success of a date, you feel. Sure, it kind of ended on a sour note, with NECO mucking up the proceedings, but you feel that you and Midori have definitely gotten closer because of it.

There's just one thing you'd like to ask, though. About the bonfire.

What was that Kumatora was throwing into the fire? They looked like manuscripts for something.

"Oh, those were my manuscripts for Miracle Midori x Murder Mayumi, Sempai. Around thirty future volumes' worth." Midori replies beside you, as the both of you share the back seat of the company car Kyoko's driving you back into the city with.

"I...I've decided to take the story in a different direction than I originally planned, Sempai, and what I had already drawn didn't really fit. So I had them burned to start over."

I'm of the opposite mind, since I feel like Wendy and Chiaki's chemistry wouldn't actually be all that different even after the amnesia, and rather than her being a bad influence on us, we could be a good influence on her.
And even after the amnesia we still have more in common with her than we do with Midori

Thirty volumes? But isn't that a bit drastic? Couldn't she have kept some for filler, or something?

Midori shakes her head. "No, sempai. It wouldn't really work. But I'll be fine - I can do it on my weekends, and I have an assistant to work with, now." It's here that Kumatora turns to wave at the both of you from the passenger seat.

Huh. Well. Whatever works for her, then.

The trip back to Headquarters is short and uneventful, and soon you're at the lobby, alone. Midori wanted to be by herself for a bit longer, and thus you had Kyoko and Kumatora take her to your shared apartment instead. The younger of the two Eversors had volunteered to keep Midori company until you returned, and you agreed - they'd be able to talk about the comic AND keep the Callidus safe.

...Anyway. Looking around, you notice that even without the Warmaster Cap on, people are already taking pause and saluting you as they pass, both Magical Girl and simple run-of-the-mill employee alike. You're not entirely sure how to return their greetings, so you make do with a cold stare and a nod, which seems to work.

You make to put the hat on, anyways. Just to show you mean business.

In any case, what do you do now? You have a few options.

Why would you hope for that? As an avid Chiaki x Midori shipper, I'm longing for the horrible pain and suffering that comes from two Magical Girls engaging in forbidden love.

On the subject of the Midori pairing, I think she and Chiaki go together extremely well. Yeah, it started off as hero worship, but Midori has already been disabused of those notions several times over. Not only because of how she was treated when she was first recruited, what happened when they got to the Siberian Base, AND getting a firsthand view of all of Chiaki's neuroses in the barrier. Midori already knows Chiaki better than anyone, with the possible exception of Mami. And she still dove into the Barrier, not to save Murder Mayumi, but to save the sempai that she loved.

That aside, they showed some really interesting chemistry early on and even now, with Midori being aggressive and then shy, and Chiaki doing the same. Seeing how the two act around each other is basically seeing two people falling in love.

It’s adorable
>>
>>28899617
Many thanks.

>>28899623
I like Midori, I really do, but I want to see more of her as a Callidus and less of her as a moeblob before I start endorsing her as a serious waifu candidate.

Well, there's our problem right there.

We're a board full of autistic neckbeards. The closest we've ever gotten to knowing what that looks like IRL is awkward obsessive crushes that are firmly rejected should the object of our lusts ever find out about them.

I can agree to this because I like Midori best when she's pursuing Chiaki. It's understandable that she'd be a little overwhelmed given the circumstances, but I want to see more of the other sides of her that we haven't seen in several dozen threads

Well they are certainly in love and adorable together. I would give their relationship at max two years before that love has cold down and they break up because of their differences. Love like that does not last and the thing that has to keep the relationship going after that are common interests. Something they do not have.

I would say Midori makes a great friend who can offset Chiaki's temperament and such. But outside of Hollywood that does not work in a relationship.

Differences, if they're not irreconcilable, are what makes a relationship grow. Honestly, I see many positive things, and happiness, in a relationship for the both of them. Not without difficulty, Midori had already taken a lot of brunt on that end, but a satisfying relationship all around.

Differences can make a relationship grow but there has to be more similarities than differences. Otherwise you just end up in each others throats to often once the initial love has died down. It is better to have a friend to fill that purpose. The more time you spend with a person the less patience you going to have with that person.
>>
>>28899918
>there has to be more similarities than differences.
nope.

The differences just have to be complementary.
>>
>>28899887
Say, since we ar Warmaster and have Aide`s now..

Should we decide for Midori or/and some of our other Aides to handle stuff like interogating the Prophet-Girls or something else that may be vital to the plot, would we get to switch to that Character`s Perspective or is it OFF-SCREEN only?

Also, thanks for the thread, man, was a fun read!

And I'm saying that that is only the case in movies. That thing never works in a real relationship because after a while you won't be able to put up with each other any longer unless you have similar interests that weighs it out.
>>
>>28899946

If you decide to delegate that stuff to them, then it'd be mostly offscreen unless it was super important and vital, yeah. And thanks, I'm glad you like it!

>>28899969

Ah, I wouldn't say so! It'd be great, but I think how we're going to do it, it'll be self-contained mostly.

>>28900002

Midori should have had contact with her parents as soon as she got back and was able to. And Officios handle family very well - insurance, health benefits, accident/death benefits in case the Magical Girl kicks it. At least, for Kyuubey.

High-profile contractees...I'm guessing like movie stars or really important people as contractees? Definitely! You wouldn't really know, though, because they keep that under wraps.

Also, definitely there are. Some of them actually ally with the more mercenary of Officios, like the Sixteenth.

Inventory stuff usually don't perish, as it's a magical inventory. So yes, you still have them, and they're still blue.

Anyways, I'll see you guys at the next thread!

I just think it would be a relaxing hobby. Not saying we are going to use them.
>>
>>28900568
I didn't say Midori was good at it, I said she tries.
>>
>>28900528

I support this course, it's very relaxing.
>>
>>28900580
Hence why I said continue it at another time, I figured you were sneaking peeks while at work and were in danger of getting caught
>>
>>28900594
I don't expect her to be good at it I just figured she would go to the officio library or something and look for a "shit goes boom, how to make" book in the occupational skills section

Now that I say this I wonder what the officio archives / library are like
>>
>>28900528
Yes, and if we ask Mami to teach us again, she'll probably be delighted.
We can knit a scarf for Midori, and mittens for Mami.
>>
>>28900552
>>28900569
>>28900577
Now that I think about it, Chiaki would most likely make some kickass fireworks. Slightly more respectable as a hobby than rigging IEDs.
>>
>>28900631
We knit midori a hat
>>
Honestly, we don't really need a hobby until we get into a situation where we have free time in which to practice it.

Chiaki doesn't really have an "off" switch. Neither did Murderface: While she technically had a lot more downtime, she filled it with whiskey and painkillers, making it effectively identical to her mission time.
>>
>>28900631

Chiaki and Midori shared scarf, Hat-chan! Someone tell her!
>>
>>28900648
...Come to think of it, Midori is actually trying to get us quit our hobbies.
>>
>>28900648
Yes but it would probably be healthy to get one and take some free time.
>>
>>28900667

Nothing wrong with being a connoisseur of fine drinks.

Although I don't think such a thing exists for pharmaceutical products.
>>
>>28900657

Midori only stole our cigs and I support her on this.

But smoking is hot.
>>
We could try photography. We seem to have a pretty detailed knowledge of cameras. Probably from Homura when she was in stalking mode during the loops.

Also, bonsai trees. And fruit bushes. Anything that we could theoretically get something to make pancake syrup from.
>>
>>28900722
We're Warmaster. We can afford better smokes now. Like cigarillos.
>>
>>28900722
Not who you are responding to, and while some folks associate smoking that way, I personally associate it with foul smelling old men, cancer, and death.
And while Murderface may be female and immune to cancer, it doesn't change my association.

Rule of cool for the setting? Sure, but nothing more than that resonates with me.
>>
>>28900791

I don't find smoking even remotely attractive on anyone.

...I don't think you're paranoid enough for this thread.

Jeez, Wendy is right. We DID get soft. Softer than the softest sofa in the soft sofa store.
>>
>>28900860
Maybe he has become so paranoid that it was not possible to get any more paranoid and he looped back to relaxed?

>We're taking Gorefather, surely?
I just remembered this, and I'll have to remember to mention it at the beginning of next thread:
We've been warned not to carry all of our Golden Weapons on us at once.
GM-warning through an in-character feeling that doing so would be a really bad idea.
So carry only 2 Golden Weapons, 3 max, at a time.
>>
>>28901777
Well, yeah. Kirika and Gorefather.

I feel Kirika will go along with this one if it means seeing Oriko and getting another shot at our head.

Justice, I'm sure, will find us when and if we need it.

>>
>>28901777
Would this mean that when we get 4 weapons, we can carry 3, or is the limit 2?
>>
>>28901969
There's no hard limit. Just a feeling that we shouldn't.

I trust Chiaki's gut on this, though.

We'll just have to see if she feels any different.

From a purely practical standpoint, carrying all the golden weapons at once is a great way for them all to fall into someone else's hands just by taking us out.
>>
>>28901969
We have four already: the Deagle, the Bangles, the Sword and the Axes.

If we can bludgeon Kirika into not being such a bitch, we might want to let Sayaka have the Sword. She'd certainly be better at using it.
>>
>>28902035
fuck no. She had the willpower to reject it once already. Lets not force her to do it again.
>>
>>28902035
We had to go to Syberia and have all that crap happen to us JUST so we could wield the weapons without going mad. Letting anybody else handle them is a bad idea.
>>
We might want to see if Coobs can remove a soul from a Golden Weapon and stick it in a new Gem. With enough magic, it could probably regrow a body after that.
>>
>>28902074
He can't.

He already had the lab examine the weapons. If we can believe the report we got back, they couldn't even tell that they have souls inside.

Clearly, we need to get a body, then physically stick the weapons inside to see if it works.
>>
>>28902035
>we might want to let Sayaka have the Sword.
We had to have the Procedure done on us just so we could wield the Weapons without being corrupted, and you want to give that to Sayaka?
Did you completely forget what the Golden Weapons do to a person?
>>
>>28902229
Isn't that basically what Kirika was doing when we had to retire her?

Lets not do that.
>>
>>28902259
in fairness with Sayaka the difference would be difficult to detect what with her quite natually being a raging hellbitch.
>>
>>28902074
>>28902113

We had Coobie examine them and according to him these are apparently completly mundane weapons.
>>
>>28902246
>Did you completely forget what the Golden Weapons do to a person?

Yes, actually. It's kind of been a while.

In that case, though, we might want to have our Equerry train us with some normal swords so that we aren't completely shit with our Golden one.
>>
>>28902287
We don't need training, per se. Because the soul of the person inside can guide you, as we experienced with Yuu.

Of course, whether Chiaki would want to entrust Kirika with that is another matter entirely.
>>
>>28902283
Kyuubey also examined our hat and came to the conclusion that it was just a hat. Granted that was only a cursory examination, but I think we have enough first-hand experience to conclude that Pinky is able to stick things inside other things in ways that thwart Kyuubey's ability to detect them.
>>
>>28902323
Physical conditioning is probably more important than acquisition of actual skill. Because it's one thing to be guided by the soul within the weapon: It's another thing entirely to have your body keep up with them.
>>
>>28902358
Sometimes sufficiently advanced alien science just isn't advanced enough to keep up with magic.
>>
>>28902323
We tell Kirika that we need her help to get Oriko away from the uberbitch inside the Staff. She might be willing to not screw us over if we're using her for that purpose.
>>
>>28902465
>She might be willing to not screw us over if we're using her for that purpose.
She may also lie to us so that she can be there to help screw us over, helping Oriko and Ahriman.
>>
>>28902259
We should get someone who can grow back a body.

Sayaka would be good, we can lop off a limb or two and keep them in cold storage while she regrows em, then keep removing organs until she's got two of herself. Then we reassemble all the pieces and see if we can't put someone else in Mickey's body.
>>
>>28902819
dr strauss plz go
>>
>>28902837
I'd like to take a moment to address you directly, Dr. Strauss. Yes. I'm talking to you, the once-might Director. I have a question for you. How could you have thrown it all away? It staggers the mind. A woman of science, with the ability to sway reactionary and fearful minds toward the truth, choosing instead to embark on a path of ignorance and decay. Make no mistake, Dr. Strauss. This is not a scientific revolution you have sparked... this is death and finality. You have plunged Meguca-kind into freefall. Even if you offered your surrender now, I cannot guarantee that our Incubators would accept it. At the moment, I fear they have begun to look upon even me with suspicion. So much for serving as Meguca-kind's representative. Help me win back their trust, Dr. Strauss. Surrender while you still can. Help ensure that Meguca-kind's trust in you is not misguided. Do what is right, Dr. Strauss. Serve Magical Girls everywhere.
