Millennia ago, man was not the sole ruler of his world.

Mysterious and fickle beings dwelled throughout the realms. The fair folk, fae, fairies... Regardless of the name they used, they spread chaos and forced man to live in fear.

Until... One day, a low-ranking serf of their numbers grew bored of the situation. He secretly crafted a powerful, magic belt, and gave it to a human who caught his interest, with his hatred of the fair folk and willingness to use what he could. The man struck back against his enemies, dealing damage and forcing the faries to withdraw from his territory before he eventually perished.

The leaders sought his source of power, and only discovered it long after the creator of the belt had passed the information along to his compatriots.

Soon enough, a full-fledged war raged, between the humans bearing belts of fey make, and the Fair Folk themselves.

After many more years, it ended. The Fair Folk were sealed away, along with the belts that lead to their downfall. Tales of that age have passed into legend and myth, and now, in the modern day, someone has reawakened them, unleashing them on an unprepared world...

Before we start....

It's fall, 2013, in a small town in Northern North America, and you're in an old quarry that's been abandoned for a good few decades with a slowly dying flashlight.

What is your name, and why are you here?

He's there because there's a mystical problem on he can deal with as a sorcerer and scientist.

And we have come seeking the rumored and mythical clue to the BELT OF OBERON

Households built along spillways made of the quarry's mine tailings have been having some odd cases of sickness, lately. Investigation showed traces of monazite. That, combined with the mine closing because of worker health issues issues, suggested there might be a vein of thorium running underneath the stone. If so, that could be very valuable. General Atomics sent us here to check out the site.

That's right...

You left for a walk after another disagreement with another client at the local bar, one "Jude O'Maille", regarding the outcome of a pool game.

Luckily for both of you, a police officer was there, and put a stop to things before any real punches were thrown, but...

Well, both of you got told to take a hike and cool down.

So here you are, having walked off to the old quarry in silence....

Having been here a few times before lately on bets from friends, you headed on in, ignoring the warning signs again.

Glancing around with your light, you recognize the area you're in. This was once a "hub" chamber. Different branches spread off to the cardinal directions, with the Southern one slanting upwards and the Northern one going down.

You can hear a tinkling sound, like glass slowly breaking echoing from the Eastern route... Odd. You should be the only one stupid enough to be in here....

>What do you do?
>>
>>29028225
Go east of course.
>>
>>29028225

>>
>>29026763

>>
>>29028225
Well damn son, we gotta go East.
>>
>Head east

You glance at your watch, before starting down the Eastern path. Whatever it is down there can't be good... Can it? Better see what's happening.

A few minutes of walking pass, and the noise becomes louder.

In fact, you can hear something cursing in a strange tongue, as a smashing sound becomes apparant...

It's coming from around a corner at a T-intersection... A quick glance shows a hollow you can get to, if you move quickly, but... You'd risk exposing yourself to whatever's around there.

Then again, you could just peek around the corner, right...?

>What do you do?

You sidle closer- no sense exposing more than you have to- and take a peek.

...You see what appears to be an old man, clad in ratty clothes and an ugly, brown hat, pounding on a strange looking rock angrily...

He seems occupied by whatever it is he's bashing at, but...

You have a feeling something is off. This whole situation isn't sitting right with you.

He's got two eyes, you can tell as he glances around and sniffs the air.

One looks... Odd compared to the other. Almost bulging out...

>What do you do?
>>
>>29030392

>>
>Observe

Another few minutes pass, and he continues to smash at the rock, doing... Nothing in terms of damage, though he seems to look up every once in a while to see about... Something...

Finally, he stops and stands up, still facing away from you.

"Who's there?" He says in a raspy voice, obviously un-used to English as a language, as he tosses the stone over his shoulder.

...It hits a rock next to you, and chips a chunk out. He's strong.

The old man turns around, and sniffs the air, then frowns.

"But only..." He rasps, looking over you and trailing off, then down at the rock.

Something's not right, you realize as he starts to grin.

"I wasn't asking, boy." The 'man' says, glaring at you. "Bring it to me, or else."

You don't think you can actually harm it, so... The only thing you can do is wait.

"Because it's MINE now." He rasps, cracking his right hand and closing it around-

Something you can't see. This is bad.

He roars in pain as your foot connects, and you start running back towards the entrance.

Panting as you reach the hill up from the quarry, you glance back.

No sounds of pursuit, you think. Maybe you can smash this rock...

Several strikes against the stone walls leave only damage in the face of the quarry, but you can feel the rock growing warmer with each blow.

There's a clank further up, on the edge of the quarry.

The 'man' is standing there, psychotic grin on his face, holding a huge scythe in his right hand.

"Ah, there you are, boy." He says, looking down at you. "You can't escape me. I'm Redcap, and your blood is mine, now."

There's a whirl as.... Something speeds out of it, forming a belt around you. You can see a glint of red from the hound's eyes, and feel a spark of power within you.

The maw opens, and a roar echoes.

You can feel something form over your body, and weights settle on your shoulders, as a helme-

Better be a rider kick coming up soon!

When's the ETA for the next thread?

Probably after I run the next Persona Quest, which is being worked on. Both will get announced on my Twitter.

Same trip, same Twit.

Quest was slow, but good. What kind of direction do you want to take this quest, btw? Not asking for spoilers, mind.

Which one you have should be apparent from the design and your weapon choice.
