The prison.

You've heard about it. Ever think about what it would be like there, to spend your life in the mines, a slave? Of course not. You thought yourself invulnerable from the misfortunes that befell others. But that privilege, son, is given to the rich, they are the ones who commit crimes fitting their station; treason, espionage, corruption, the transgressions of refined society. You are but a lowly citizen of the Kingdom of Madeen condemned to lowly crimes that signify your birth and class; killing some hobb for a couple of silver, raping that elf girl in an abandoned house, stealing from the church, or perhaps something else along those lines. And for that you must be indentured on the prison island, to try and give back to society for once in your petty existence.

So, tell me what are you?

The Orkh'un, or as the normal folks call you, the motherfucking Orcs, are a people much romanticized throughout Human history. The stoic, hardy Orc, away from home where wife and child wait for him, as he rages about foreign battlefields fighting people unknown to him, has been a fixture of many a ballads and epics. The Kingdom of Madeen was conquered from the blood spilt by your people. Most of your brethren fight on in battlefields throughout the world yet, you stayed back on Madeen, why? Was is it a debilitating injury, or are you just happy being some noble's house guard? Seven foot tall, built of sinew, know that no one challenges an Orkh'un and lives. There is this deference, or fear, or, what do you call it, that respect towards intimidation, the Thruum, among Orcs that sets them apart from the rest. Yet, they are strangers to a foreign land with no one to call a friend, where every other Orc is competition for that bag of gold.

What is your name?

Faateh Dhvann'kur, veteran of the Madeeni-Dwarven war. Your sword cleaved numerous dwarven necks, as the Madeeni army marched to the capital. But after the war was over and you were back in Madeen, you could not resist the offer of a sinecure, as the bodyguard of a nobles daughter and the tutor of his sons. Shameful.

They do not speak overmuch about Ork'un loyalty and Orkh'un honor. When one of the nobles' brats made insinuations about degeneracy between you and your ward, you challenged him to a duel.

As the tremulous man, I think he was more of a boy, offered apologies, you dragged him the collar into the courtyard. Handed him your sword. Dodged his shaky swipes. Counted to three. And broke his skull with a single punch.

And, now, half an year after spending time in the dungeons you find yourself in a barge along with several others on your way to the island prison.
contd.

Not like you anything better to do in the dank and darkness in the inside of the barge.

You get up, stretch your limbs and head towards the shadow.

Oddly, while the most of the barge is crowded as an elven brothel, every one seems to be giving that thing a wide berth.

A human gets up and places a hand on your chest. "Don't wake it up now. I came with it in the first batch, that things could slaughter us all, and call it breakfast."

You:
>inquire about it

As you look down to the human, quite some feet shorter than you. He reflexively pulls back his hand.
"What is it?"

"A Lizardfolk from the Dwarven country. They were holding plenty of them at my prison."

"They let them roam about in your cities."

"No, no. They have been capturing them from the swamps for over an year now. They ship all of them to the prison."

You:

"The ones I saw were all over nine feet, I don't know, maybe the bounty hunters only capture the big ones. But all of them are fucking immortal."

"The fuck are you babbling about?"

The man, of the scrawny sort, recoils at your words. "I m-mean, you stab with them a sword, right? And that shit heals in minutes. You set them on fire and the skin grows back."

You hear a soft, mellow voice behind you, "They say Lizardfolk tribes don't even use weapons in wars. They try to eat each other alive. Their battlefields are one big buffet."

"What did you do, how do you get caught?"

The voice is guttural and deep, "The pinkskins hunt. The pinkskins capture. Now we eat pinkskins. Blood calls blood."

"Far from home does it matter, live - dead, it all the same now."

"The humans aren't worth it, they are such as ants, dig around and you'll find a dozen more."

You see the lizard smack its tail on the floor. "Says you. Servant of pinkskins. Lizard sees your people fight for them. Lizard smells you reek of them."

You do what?
>>
>>29090737
"I fought no fight i did not want."

>>
>>29090752
"I choose my battles."

"Why fight for pinkskins then?"

"They pay well."

"Gold shine well. Chase the shine and lose yourself." The lizard turns his back to you.

Seems like this is all he is going to say. Sighs of relief do the rounds as you head back. An elf, a webwork of green and red tattoos running over his face and arms, gets up and claps. His vulpine face meets your gaze.
"Ah, Larsimmer, did not brag when he wrote about your kinds bravery in "A Broken Sword.""

The Lizard is drugged.

You stare down the elf as you head back to your spot, "There is nothing to fear from a beast without the will to live."

The elven face keeps smiling at you, "Ah, look a philosopher! Perhaps you head to the island in search of the meaning of life?"

Laughs follow behind as you make your way back.

As the hours pass, you hear tidbits of information about the destination. Apparently the place is under a magical spell.

Then finally, the trapdoor opens, a man in a helmet peeps in and shouts, "You scum are about to reach the lovely haven that awaits you with open arms. Work hard and you may yet live another few years."

You do what?
>>
>>29091039
We have no need of allies. We are not meek sheep. We do not crowd together at night to feel safe. We are the wolf, the hunter, the conqueror. We take what we need when we need it, and we serve only when it is in our fancy to do so. We shall not baby the beast. If he is not willing to fight for himself, to live and take and want for himself, then let him wither away.

The soldiers leaves with the trapdoor open, and gets back with a coil of chains. "We drugged the Lizard for you fuckers. But mark my words, that cunt will make for your flesh the moment it stops feeling high. Want to live? Then fucking tie it up."

There is a loud noise as the coil hits the floor. The Lizard does not budge.

Several men get up and start unwinding the iron chain. They all look at you with expectant eyes.

You do what?

Ach. Wish I had more time to phrase this better. But whatever.

Let's go, noble savage!

Also, when I say take the chains, I mean to take all of it ourselves. We're strong enough to carry it all, right?

And if it really does come to us having to fight the lizard ourselves, the chains would come in handy as a weapon.

You get up snatch the chains from two Hobgoblins who stare at you with their mouths agape.

You walk to the Lizard and drop at its feet. The barge goes silent as you feel all of their eyes on your back.

"This was for chaining you, but it seems you already have made a prisoner of yourself. Keep your distance and all will be fine."

The Lizard gets up, well, tries to gets up and retches, it manages to puke out a severed hand with faint fumes arising from it.

"Hmph. If you've no fire left in your heart and no longer wished to live, then better that you be felled by a true warrior than one of your slavers."

As you head back, you hear the groans, the snarls, the threats aimed at you. You haven't earned yourself any friends by doing what you did.

A stare is enough to silence most. "Forget not you speak with an Orkh'un! Wish to see the Lizard Chained..."

A tremor goes up the barge. It is a first of many that go up the vessel, you can hear the wood creak and groan. And then you start feeling the pressure, as if you are being crushed by the air surrounding you.

"And so our doom begins. Welcome to the Island, brothers. There is no going back now." says a human with missing hands.

The tremors keep occurring for another hour before they stop. You feel something sticky run down your ear. Blood.

Eh. No need to pick a fight with the elf, unless he starts provoking us.

But good advice.

Also, let's keep our ears peeled. Listen for the Lizard. We've taken responsibility for it. If it starts moving around more, we take a glance at it. If it seems like it's going to attack, then we prepare ourselves to fight.
>>
>>29091428
Only if he goes to fight us. Let him have his fill of the others. Snag a bit of cloth before it goes down his gullet, we could use it as earplugs.

Why would we get the elf to "get through" to the lizard?

Right now, we're just in an introductory sequence, so I don't think we need to worry too much about how we're going to cozy it up with the guard. But going by what we've done so far, I think we should try to go for becoming a top-class leg breaker and maybe try to move up to prison boss from there. I just don't think social maneuvering is our thing.

>>29091441

If the drugs have already worn off and he hasn't attacked anyone yet, I think we can forget about having to fight him. And if we do end up fighting him anyway, well, our hands will hopefully be enough.

"ELVES! Fucking Elves! Get the fuck out." The Orc roars as he drops a ladder.
The elf from before, with the green and tattoos, gives you a mocking bow as he climbs up with the rest."

The Lizard seems to be doing alright. He manages to stand up, and now you can see that he towers over even you. He is easily over 9 feet. The Elves start clambering up the ladder now.

He doesn't move much other than swish his tail.
"Another of your kind. Seems stronger than you."
>>
>>29091565
*red tattoos

Do you wait with him, or do something?
>>
>>29091565
"Do not underestimate me, lizard." Then stare him in the eyes
>>
>>29091565
how about: "they all do at first"
>>
>>29091565
>>29091574
Wait with him and comment that appearances can be deceiving.
>>
>>29091565
>The elf from before, with the green and tattoos, gives you a mocking bow as he climbs up with the rest."
Seems like he took us risking everyone's life well enough.

>>29091574
Let's go ahead and wait with him while watching the rest clamber up.

"If you say so, Lizard. Although, if I cared about appearances, I would not have threatened to kill you myself had you chosen to make a ruckus."
>>
>>29091574
Wait
>>
>>29091565
I don't totally hate the elf myself. He seems quite Puck-like, although we haven't really seen all that much from him. Might be fine to give him the benefit of the doubt for now, guys?
>>
>>29091631
fuck that shit, break his neck.

Feed him to the lizard
>>
>>29091653
I'm not sure the Lizard would appreciate being treated like a trash compactor, though.
>>
>>29091631

The elf is weak! That alone is enough to hate him!
>>
>>29091653
Might I remark about how horrible of an idea that is. We already have the hatred of everyone, Lizard included, who would do their level best to stop us. Not to mention the GUARD standing at the only exit with who knows what kind of backup. This course of action will only serve to get us killed.
>>
>>29091698
>This course of action will only serve to get us killed.
Slavery IS death.
>>
>>29091698
I think he's just expressing his disdain of the tattooed elf.

I don't think the Lizard hates us, although I wouldn't go as far as to say that he likes us either. He's probably.....ambivalent, I guess?
>>
>>29091706

The lizard probably respects us enough now to think twice about eating us, which is better than before.
>>
The internet. It won't stop fucking with me. I'll try and wrap this up within half an hour, guys, because it doesn't look like it's gonna get any better.

>>29091578
>>29091580
>>29091582

As the Humans start following the Elves through the trapdoor, you look back and stare hard at him, "Appearances may be deceiving, Lizard."

"Name given is Salaasenn. Meaning Pride of the Father. Our tribe only will name those who are worthy. What is name given to you?"

The Orkh'un by the trapdoor does seem to look about as strong as you.

Once the barge is empty but for you and the Salaasenn, the Orkh'un motions you to stay where you are as he starts climbing down with a bale of rope and a greataxe.

"Faateh Dhvann'kur", your eyes now back to the ladder.

What now?
>>
>>29091705
We are yet breathing, there is a chance for an escape. Don't throw away our life without knowing the weapon pointed at our neck.
>>
>>29091729
We stand proud and tall and wait for our turn to exit. They are going to be putting Salaasenn into binding, but tell the Orkh'un it is not needed, that we shall walk out of our own power.
>>
>>29091729
Ask the other orc what he means to do with the rope.

Oh, and it's cool to end the thread soon. It's already pretty late for me, so I might as well turn in soon.
>>
>>29091729
You have a twitter/schedule for next run?
>>
>>29091729
>>29091831
Yeah, I'd be interested in knowing when your next run time will be too.
>>
>>29091747

"I was expecting it to be tied up and bound. A drugged up Lizard should not pose much of challenge to an Orkh'un... if he is strong.", he says as he walks up to your slowly, staring hard at you.

So it begins, the Thruum. That mix of intimidation, respect, camaraderie and recognition with which the Orcs form hierarchies amongst themselves. Usually it involves the two Orcs circling each other noting scars and muscles and the other's 'presence'. But in exigent circumstances such as this, a stare will have to suffice.

Shit. It sames you rank lower than him in Thruum.

"Dhvaan'kur, eh? The dwarves are too short for me to dull my blade on their necks. The name is Bathoot Bhara'kwi" Trollbane. He throws the rope at you, I'll cripple, circle around and tie it down."

You look first at Salaasenn then back at Bathoot, "He doesn't seem to be resisting."

"The women of our kind tending toward... slow anger."

The fucking what?

The Bathoot looks taken aback too, for a brief moment. "A pity, we finaly get a lady, and she's a fucking demon."

Some moments later you find yourself walking side by side with Salaasenn. With Bhara'kwi following close behind.

Some meters ahead the other prisoners are being escorted by men who don't exactly look like guards.

What now?
>>
>>29091844
>>29091831

Gonna run a session tomorrow at the same time, unless the internet goes tits up again.

>"The women of our kind tending toward... slow anger."
FPQ, would it surprise you to know that I was totally expecting/hoping for this?

I can't explain my exact thought processes, but somehow I just came to the conclusion that the Lizard would be a woman.

Anyway, ending now?
>>
>>29091876
Cool.

Also, hope that you don't mind, but I went ahead and archived the thread for you.

I guess that it is about time to call it a day.

I apologize for the slow post speeds. And I apologize if anyone feels like he wasted his time.

Being my first Quest Thread, I think it is evident that I have a lot to learn and improve upon. I thank all those who stuck with this thread for 5 hours. I really do appreciate it.
>>
>>29091895
Thanks, mate.

I'll go through this thread again and try to improve. I know this thread kind shit compared to the decent ones out there, I'll try my best to give you guys something worth investing in.
>>
This thread makes me want to play Of Orcs And Men again.
>>
>>29091902
>>29091912
It was a fun introduction, don't worry about it. You'll only improve with time, as long as you work for it. See ya' next time.

If you're worried about the length of your posts, you're quick enough as is (not counting the times when you've been disconnected from the internet) that it doesn't matter that they're short. Although you may want to add some possible actions we could take at the end of your posts. They help to mark the places where you're asking for prompts and they also assist in guiding the story.
>>
>>29091929
I know. It's just that I was writing as fast as I could, trying to get the post up before another disconnect occurred.

Hopefully this won't be the case tomorrow.
>>
>>29091902
>Being my first Quest Thread
This is the first time I've followed a quest that wasn't run by a veteran QM.

You're my first virgin, FPQ.
>>
>>29091950
I hope the ride gets smoother now that the cherry's popped.
>>
>>29091865
It makes me laugh a little to find out that Salaasenn is a female.

Since I was there in the QTG's when you were brainstorming your quest. Heh.
>>
>>29091967
It will, at first. But if you ever get better, you'll find that your followers will start to resemble an abusive lover the more popular you become.
