>This is my third time retyping this thing

You retell the entirety of the events which occurred at the foot of the mountain, from the beastmen, to being called a god, to helping to rebuild. She listens, and even smiles at some parts. When you finish, she approaches you and sits behind you. You think to ask what she's up to, but then feel her hands on your shoulders. You really aren't used to her doing this without burning you, so it's much less relaxing that she probably means it to be. You thank her anyway, and the two of you eat dinner before going to bed together.

Three days after, as you are in the middle of your morning meditation, the bid flutters down and lands on the head of one of the stone statues. He seems to be in mild shock, as he speaks.

"People! On the mountain! There's people on the mountain and they're coming up the steps! What do we do man!?"

You go to the entrance of the temple, and open up the red doors. Sure enough, three people are making their way up the stone steps. From here, you can only tell that they are two men and a woman, all carrying small packs. You begin walking down the steps to meet them halfway, wondering exactly what one is supposed to say at times like this. When you meet them, they fall to their knees before you.

"Oh wise Mountain God, we have come as you asked, to become your loyal servants! Please, command us and we will obey! Our subservience is but a small price to pay for your blessing and protection.

You hoist them up by their collars and tell them to return to the village. They seem a bit dejected, but they obey and head down the way they came. You scratch your head in frustration, and head back inside. After meditating and training, you ask Ai if she might be able to go down the mountain and explain your position to the townsfolk, but she doesn't feel confident in her ability to travel up and down the mountain alone. You don't think it would be a good idea to go down with her either. Ai asks what you plan to do about the Beast King now that the people seem so set on worshiping you.

But only after they already thought so! I didn't start the rumor! And I only gave them a few commandments! The four of you get up and make you way to the stone steps, and down the mountain. Ai rides on your back as you approach the base, and you are both surprised when you see her old home. There are dozens of people pouring out of it, and the house itself has been fixed up and redecorated with images of spiders and monkeys. An old woman stands on the pedestal that once held Ai's cauldron, and speaks to the others as they kneel. When you approach, the old woman stops speaking, and tells the others to turn their attention to your group. Right away, the women in the crowd run to Ai and begin asking her for blessings. Some of them hold up their young babies, or present their pregnant bellies and ask for Ai's blessing on their children. The men bring a few bottles of wine to you, despite your protests.

As you try to contain the situation, a burst of flame spouts from the ground, creating a bright light, and from the twisting flames emerge two silhouettes. When the flames burn out, you see Vicart in red robes and a gold circlet, and Leman in gold half-plate and hide. They both look confused by what's going on.

You bring your guests to the Sacred Peach Tree, introducing them to Ai and your friends as you walk. Vicart greets her kindly, but Leman seems a bit disinterested. When you reach the peach tree, you tell them to sit anywhere and you'll pick some fruit to munch on while you talk. Leman's eyes go wide, and he staggers toward the tree, staring at the bright fruit.

"There's no way. There can't be a tree like this just sitting here." He whips around and looks at you. There seems to be something very passionate about his glare. "You've been eating these peaches since you got here?"

You admit to eating the fruit, and Leman's jaw hangs loose. He scratches his head wildly, and you turn to Vicart who only shrugs. Leman walks over to the tree and picks one of the fruit, smelling it, pulling it open, then chucking it away. He walks back over to you and grabs your collar.

"This isn't normal fruit! This is Fruit of Eden! This is what the gods eat in myths! The Father of Light ate the Eden Orange which gave him dominion over the sun, and now you've eaten this! How could you do this!?"

You shrug your shoulders, explaining you didn't know anything about the fruit being abnormal. He explains that eating this fruit is said to give a person great powers, and enhance their physical abilities. You assure him that you don't feel much different than normal, and he seems to calm down slightly. He says that it may not be a big deal, so long as you didn't make a green elixir from it. In the legends, green elixir is considered the drink of gods, and grants immortality.

You hold your tongue, clearing your throat and attempt to change the subject. Leman seems suspicious, but he doesn't vocalize it. Despite your assurance, neither he nor Vicart are willing to eat the fruit. Instead, you fetch them some bread and cheese to eat while you talk. You ask them for help in defeating the Beast King, and explain the exact circumstances, including the beastmen and raids on the town. You also mention briefly that the people of the town seem to think you're a god, despite you not doing much of anything that could be considered very godlike. Vicart nods, and Leman seems troubled.

Leman and Vicart proceed to describe a series of intense earthquakes that shook the mountain for hours last night. They seemed to start slow at first, then ramped up gradually, and peaked with enough intensity for a few seconds, sending both of them out of their beds and spilling onto the floor. They tell you that this repeated at least 5 times before they finally settled, and after that, sleeping was nearly impossible. You laugh. When they ask what's so funny, you tell them flat out that what they felt was merely a result of your and Ai's nightly bonding. Vicart stands up and leaves the room in a huff, and Leman merely drops his head on the table. Soon, Ai enters and begins preparing the rabbits that the spider brought home for you. You decide to take the long way around the base of the mountain, putting safety before speed. You head down the mountain together, pass by Ai's home, ignoring the worshipers, and head around the base of the mountain. It takes nearly 3 days to get completely around. The journey itself is quite dull, especially after Vicart and Leman beg that you and Ai abstain from bonding for the sake of their rest. This doesn't stop Ai from trying to initiate, but you do your best to hold out.

When you do reach the opposite side of the mountain, you find a large cavern at the base. When you inspect it, you realize that it is not natural, and must have been dug by something. There is no light within, and no sound. It travels deep under the mountain, and you think that this Beast King must be within. It is near noon now, and the group is a bit weary from the trip.

Sleep is easy, until suddenly, at some point in the night, you are awakened by a loud screeching noise. You sit up straight, and look around. Finally, Vicart is fed up with it, and waves his hand, sending out a wave of fire that illuminates the area. You spy a beastman, half bat by the look of him, zooming through the night sky. You shout to the others to watch out, but before you finish the sentence, the batman swoops down and snatches Vicart. They twist and dive through the air together, trailing fire as Vicart attempts to fight back.

Vicart crawls off of you, and you stand up. The batman still flies overhead, screeching, as Leman calls him down.

You feel the blood draining from your body, and hear him laughing. You stand tall, and wipe the blood from your neck. The batman smiles, showing bloody fangs. "I admire your bravery, man. You will die honorably!"

He screeches again, knocking you off balance and deafening you slightly, then charges in for another bite. When he latches on, you wrap your arms around him and squeeze as tight as you are able. He tries to wriggle and escape, but you hold tight, and ignite your whole body with Burning Heart. You feel him struggle to escape the intense flames, but in time, he gives up, and you release the power. The batman, now a charred husk, falls to the ground and smokes.

You wobble, feeling a numbness throughout your body. Ai comes to your side and helps you sit down. Vicart and Leman join you, asking if you need anything.

In the morning you wake to the sounds of birds. Ai is still on top of you, but she appears to be awake, and only holding still for the sake of your comfort. You see Leman and Vicart off near the fire, making up what you presume to be a pot of coffee. You ask Ai to let you up, and she does, retying her robes as she does so. You feel a bit light headed as you rise out of bed. Ai gives you a bottle of red stuff to drink, which makes you feel a bit more stable on your feet, but does not alleviate the slight numbness in your body. After coffee, your group decides it's time to tackle the cavern full force. You tell Ai to stay in the back of the group for her own safety and peace of mind, but you must decide who leads the way into the cavern.

You march into the darkness, with Leman leading the way. The tunnels are narrow and pitch black, and smell faintly of raw meat. Ai clings to your back as you go, slowing you down slightly, but you permit it so long as it keeps her calm. Besides, you feel better having her touch you in the dark, so she can't get separated somehow. Further and deeper you go, making several tight turns in the dark, and heading down several inclines. It's safe to assume that the end of this tunnel will be deep below the ground.

Suddenly, you feel the earth beneath your feet shift, and then crumble. You fall down into a deep pit, grabbing Ai as you go, and landing on soft, muddy ground. Vicart and Leman appear to be doing well, too. You look around, and Vicart lights the room with his fire. It appears to be a large, almost circular chamber made of earth. You hear rumbling, and from the ground burst forth two beast men. They resemble odd beetles, and move together in unison.

"Filthy humans! You defile the mountain of the Beast King! Your foolish challenge will end here, when we pour your entrails before him!"

You and Vicart also nod to each other, communicating your next few actions without so much as a word. During his spin, the upper half of his robes burns away, revealing his surprisingly toned upper body. The pillar of flames burns out, and the two of you strike fabulous poses, mirroring one another and flexing as hard as you can. The sweat caused by the heat of Vicart's spell ads to the effect, and you both glisten in the light of Leman's Holy Symbol.

As the beetleman rises up from the damp earth, you use his horn, peaking out from the floor, as a platform to launch yourself up. You rise, twist in the air, and then come back down with full force and Burning Heart. The beetleman continues to rise up, and the two of you meet in mid air. Your fist hits his horn, causing a burst of flame which cancels the momentum of both of your attacks, and sends you in separate directions. You land in the mud, as does he. To your right, Vicart fires a jet of flame to try and his his own opponent, but misses as he dives beneath the ground. You turn back to your own enemy, and the two of you stare each other down,. The beetleman seems unwilling to make the next move, and so you oblige him by charging. You begin assaulting him with a barrage of quick strikes, accented by Burning Heart, but he blocks them with his armored forearms. When you throw a punch aimed at his stomach, he puffs out his gut and sends the blow aside. You are unprepared for this, and receive his grand horn to the abdomen. he scoops you up off of the floor, and flings you over his back. You land on your back, in the mud. Ross rolls to one side as the beetleman charges, and snatches his horn as he passes by. You pull him in circles around yourself, using his own momentum to disorient him. Finally, you turn the motion into one resembling a hammer throw, swinging him around and around, then pulling him into you, and rising up into the air. You leap nearly 20 feet up, almost hitting the roof of the chamber, and draw the beetleman tight into you, while flipping him upside down. The momentum remaining from the swing accelerates your spin, and you ignite your body again. You come down hard, driving the beetleman into the floor with a huge burst of flames. You backhand spring out of the resulting pyre, only to see the beetleman to emerges. His shell cracks and falls to pieces around him, but he is still ready to fight.

You plant your feet and wipe the mud from your face. Keeping eye contact with the smouldering beetleman, you raise your hand parallel to the ground, palm up, and motion for him to come at you again. He dives beneath the muddy floor, hoping to avoid a repeat of your last attack. This time however, you're prepared for his underground assault, and sidestep the hit. As he shoots out of the ground, you wrap your arms around him, and once again use his own momentum to carry out your maneuver, flipping him into a perfect suplex, and driving his horn into the floor. He flops over, struggling to free himself, and you look to see Vicart doing equally well with his opponent.

The beetleman fighting Vicart attempts bold charge after charge, but the ones from above ground are met with a jet of intense flames, and the ones from below ignite a circle Vicart seems to be able to draw with his foot. As the beetleman comes up beneath Vicart, he is hit with a powerful explosion, which does nothing to Vicart but send him up in the air and away.

You get in front of your beetleman, and squat down. You proceed to deliver a fast barrage of punches, lit with Burning Heart, that crack his stomach plating until you reach his gooey innards.

Vicart grabs a hold of his beetleman as he attempts a charge, and redirects the momentum from his attack, spinning around and loosing him in your direction. He flies at you at top speed, and you flip his partner back over, allowing the thrown beetle's horn to pierce and ravage the stomach of his own comrade. With one dead, you and Vicart team up to finish the other. Vicart pulls him out of his friend, and loops his arms under and around the beetleman's neck.

You get a running start, getting as fast as you can with the muddy floor, before leaping into the air a few feet away from the beetleman. You change your forward energy and turn it sideways with a grand kick. Burning Heart turns the beetleman's face into an explosion of carapace and bug brains. You land, and Vicart drops the remains. The two of you clasp hands. Ai and Leman come running toward you. Leman tries to shake your hand, but Ai shoves him out of the way, squeezing you tight and kissing you deeply. The force with which she hits you sends you to the ground, and you hug her back. Leman and Vicart press on, leaving the two of you to your own devices as they search for an exit. When you get back up and go to follow them, Ai places your hand on her chest, communicating without words what your reward for this quest will be.

After a few minutes of searching, you deduce that the only way out is to go back up the way you came. You are stumped on figuring out how to get back, however.

You aren't entirely sure how this works. You'd think you just had to imagine the outcome for it to happen. But it's not as though you've ever done something like this on purpose. You plant your feet, for confidence and try your hardest to get it to work. Sure enough, the walls of the cavern shift, and open a rough staircase up to the tunnel at the top of the chamber. The rest of the party is understandably shocked. You motion for them to go ahead, hoping to stay behind long enough to stop feeling so embarrassed by what you just resorted to. Vicart passes by, patting you on the shoulder. Leman gives you a hard punch in the arm. Ai slaps your bottom. You make your way up the rough stairs last, and follow the others. You all turn left, following the tunnel for as far as it will take you. The walk is long and quiet. Eventually, after what seems like ages, the group stops. You look over the heads of the others, and see that you have come to a large room. You shuffle in, and find yourselves on a balcony. Beneath you is a large pit of smooth stone floor, studded with jagged rocks. They seem to be arranged in random fashion, but were clearly themselves carved. You look to the other side of the drop, and see another doorway. From it, something emerges.

It is tall, broad, and hairy. A beastman, nearly 8 feet tall and covered in black stripes. By the light of Leman's Holy Symbol, you recognize it to be a tiger. It steps up to the edge of the balcony, and places its paw-hands on the rail.

The Beast King frowns upon hearing your jape. He slides his left leg back behind him, and assumes a fighting stance. You do the same. The two of you stare each other down for a few moments, trying to find the other's weakness or tell. You have no such luck, but something brings a wry smile across his lips. He roars, and runs at you. You do the same, meeting him halfway between your starting positions and colliding with an enormous impact. You begin to throw quick, probing jabs, looking for a blind spot in his defense. He takes most of the hits without even trying to block, with the exception of those aimed at his head, which he blocks with his beefy arms. He swings at your face with his claws, and you duck beneath them. The two of you bob and weave around each other's attacks. You try everything to throw him off balance, but he is unlike anyone you've fought before. Suddenly he drives a massive palm into your stomach, sending you sliding back a good number of feet, and leaving four bloody cuts in your skin. You are put on your backfoot, and forced to dodge, unable to find a time to strike back. Suddenly, he drives another palm into your stomach, and sends you back. This would be nothing too big, but you were distracted enough by his assault to forget your surroundings, and hit one of the jagged pillars of rock. You powerslide beneath the Beast King, driving your fist into his stomach as you pass. Unfortunately, you aren't sure how much damage this actually does to him, as when you get up, you only have time to watch as he delivers a mule kick into your chest. Again, you fly backward, hitting one of the stone pillars and bouncing off to the side. You try to find your feet, but the Beast King wastes no time, grabbing hold of your ankle and swinging you around in a grand circle, then releasing you to watch you fly a few feet and hit the ground rolling. You get back up, and he is again upon you. The speed at which he closes the distance between the two of you more than makes up for his slower attacks, as he rakes his claws across your chest, leaving a series of shallow red X's on your person. Once again, your Stone Skin has saved you from certain death. He ceases his assault, and hops backward. He yawns, showing his long catlike tongue, and motions for you to come at him.

"I'll allow you a free blow, Mountain God, since it's clear this fight won't be interesting otherwise."

A) Charge him
B) Stand your ground
C) Tell him to come at you

He pounces again, and you slip into Drunken Boxing. You sidestep his pounce, and dodge the following barrage of swipes and palms. Though you are managing to avoid further accrual of damage, you cannot find an opening to attack easily, and you can feel yourself losing blood at a problematic rate. You think you may have to sacrifice some more to hit back, though.

A) Keep dodging
B) Take a hit, give a hit

You hold still, allowing him to slam his paw into your ribs, but giving yourself the chance to hit back. You put all your power into a single blow, and deliver a flaming right hook across his smug face. The flames burst out on impact, and the Beast King is sent tumbling. he right himself, but you see that your hit did significant damage. The skin on the left side of his face is blackened, and his left eye is seared shut. He stands up, and you motion at him to come back for more. He rears back and lets out a mighty roar that shakes the cavern, sending small rocks down from the ceiling above.

A) Tackle him while he's distracted
B) Prepare for his next move
C) Shake, Rattle and Roll
>>

Tire him out!

You once again try to call on your supposed godly powers. All around you, the cavern shakes with intense force. The Beast King himself seems surprised at your power. Despite the amount of movement, you are completely stable on your feet. Your friends, excluding Ai, are not so lucky. They are forced to hit the dirt and cover themselves, lest they be struck by falling debris. You think for a moment, then try something else. The cave ceases shaking. You now focus your mind on the ground beneath your feet, and the Beast King's. You are able to slide the both of you around the cave floor, shifting the earth beneath your feet, but not fast or wildly enough to throw him off balance. When he gets the hang of riding the moving earth, he pounces at you again.

A) Dodge
B) Counter
C) Rock Pillar

As the Beast King flies toward you, you stomp your foot on the ground hard, causing a pillar of sheer rock to emerge from the floor, hitting him in the jaw and stopping his movement. HE stumbles backward, rubbing his now fractured jaw, and growls at you. Through cracked teeth and bloody spit, he speaks "So this is your true power, is it Mountain God? I see that my instincts and hubris have left me vulnerable to your methods. But no more! I will show you the true might of the King of all Beasts!"

He sets down on all fours, and roars, shaking the room again. You see the muscles in his back begin to shift and expand. His joints twist in sick ways. His bones stretch unnaturally. The room shakes more violently, and he begins to grow. You tell the others to get away, and they run out of the room as the Beast King doubles, then triples in size. Soon he is large enough to swallow you in a single bite, but still he keeps growing. He becomes large enough to touch the ceiling if he stands, and still he grows. He only seems to slow when his size fills the width of the room, cutting off your access to the balcony you entered from. He roars, sending hot breath and saliva at you.

"FIGHT ME NOW, MOUNTAIN GOD!"

A) Fight
B) Run

You attempt to shake the room again, but even the weight of the mountain seems unable to break the back of this monster. You leap high into the air, avoiding his massive paw as it comes down. You are forced to leap, bounce and dash around the length of the room, simply in order to survive. At one point, you get close enough to land a blow on his nose, but even your most brutal strike merely singes his fur now. When you touch ground again, you are force backward, slamming yourself into the wall just to dodge his claws. The shock from this hit is enough to send a wave of pain through your body, and you cough up a large quantity of blood. Your lungs must be punctured, as your breathing is heavy now. The Beast King approaches you, laughing, sending waves of hot, meat smelling breath at you. You call forth the rock, to lift yourself up, in hopes that the balcony that he entered from might lead to somewhere safe. However, as you rise into the air, you are grabbed in one if his giant paws. You struggle to break free, but his strength is too much. You pound at him with fists of fire, but he does not seem to feel any pain. He dangles you over his open maw, and you can see eternal blackness below you, calling for your very soul.

"THIS LAND IS MINE, MOUNTAIN GOD, AND ONCE YOU ARE TUCKED AWAY IN MY BELLY, I WILL START MY CONQUEST OF YOUR DOMAIN BY SLAYING YOUR MATE AND MAKING HER AN EXAMPLE OF THOSE WHO DEFY THE BEAST KING!"

He releases you, and you fall.

Soooo that's it for tonight. Yup, I'm ending it like that, because I am taking my daughter to Disneyland in the morning, and I need sleep. The bad news for you all is that there will be no thread tomorrow as a result. But, on Sunday I will be back first thing in the morning, because I love you all and you all make my life better.

I really hope you aren't upset by this. If it could be moved, I'd move it, but things are already set up. I'm sorry. Please forgive me selfishness.
