The Free Peoples of Greystream are embroiled in war. It has been a year since we last met. The stalwart soldiers of Shieldbrook have held back the undead Orcish horde for twelve whole months, but even with the Dwarves making flank attacks, the Human-Dwarf alliance has been unsuccessful in pushing the Orcs back. Kobold pirates regularly skirmish with your ships, but disperse before your armada can be brought in force.

With a steady influx of Elven slaves from the Lizardfolk, the profitable influx of Iron from the Dwarves, the fertile bounty of the land, and your people's natural ingenuity, the Free Peoples of Greystream have flourished. Your people have begun scouting and diplomatic missions, so that they no longer need to ask other nations what is going on on the continent.

The Elves of the far north have seceded from the forest elves, calling themselves the Ice-Elves.
Both the Forest-Elves and Lizardfolk have built permanent settlements. The war between the two is beginning to heavily favor the Lizardfolk.
The Dwarves have settled two forts close to the desert, one for the defense of their realm, and one advance fort from which they strike at the flanks of the force invading your lands.
The kobolds raid regularly, but have also focused on settling their lands. They now have two full-blown pirate coves, like tiny little cities. They continue to trade freely with the Dwarves.

It is now spring. Many of your people are busy planting.

Into the senate chambers walks the Councillor, followed by a crowd of people.

"My lords, an issue has been brought to my attention. It is causing some great disturbance, so I thought it best to bring to your attention." The crowd steps past them, and you recognize them quickly as the leaders of the various guilds your nation supports.

The Masons guildmaster steps forward "Milords, ther be much dispute among the guilds about who be the most important, and who be the least." He is cut off by the Mages Guildmaster, "Honored senators, the Mages Guild is obviously the most honorable and important of the guilds. We ask that you formalize this status with a hierarchy of some sort." The Farmers Guildmaster steps forward timidly "Milords, if'n ye made such a ting, somebody would be put on the bottom. E'ry guild be important, milords, and methinks it would not be good to shame the bottom guild so."

That way we eliminate the noble guild and now all the guilds have literate noble leaders

Tier one will have the most noble of nobles and tier 2 will have average nobles and tier 3 will have lower nobles

I shall issue this hierarchy, My lords. It is my belief that none of the guilds will be particularly outraged or surprised by these rankings.

Several weeks pass, and the guilds settle into their social order. A small percentage of the fishermen, shipwrights, and craftsmen become criminals after being pushed to the bottom of the social ladder. The army, however, has a great boost to its morale, being placed among the highest of society.

One night, the kobolds attack as they had before. This time, however, it is not from sea. The Kobolds come by land from the east, in great numbers. Your army suffers massive casualties from their devastating flintlocks and cannons, but eventually claims victory and routs the kobolds.

Your horsemen track the kobolds ever eastward, until they reach the tip of the Greystream peninsula. It seems the Kobolds have established a massive beachhead from which they can launch raids and bypass the boom you raised over the mouth of the bay!

The people are extremely nervous about this new development, and do not feel safe at night.

You send your mages out with the army, to show the Kobolds the might of the humans. Scouts report to the mages, there's a huge stack of barrels in the center of the camp, and these likely contain the strange exploding powder the kobolds use.

The mages show no mercy. They blast the barrels with fire and lightning, causing a massive explosion, then they tear the kobolds apart with wind and quaking earth. The Savna ride through on their lions to mop up, for the horse-mounted lancers cannot traverse the broken ground.

There are no survivors.

The mages finish analyzing the flintlocks several days later. They believe that this powder explodes, creating pressure in the tube which propels the bullet. They have not yet discovered how to produce the black powder.

They are lead to the capital, and finally stand before the council. "We... We are elves. We flee the war with the Lizardfolk. They kill our warriors, but also our women, our children, and our livestock. They cut down our tree-homes and clear-cut our forests to root us out. We cannot live under terror any longer. We have fled our lands, and many more are coming. We seek... we seek refuge. Will you help us?

This is why I say guerrilla not full army. the elves are adept at that sort of warfare not open field battles so now we have special cover ops and scouts rather than needing to put ole tooth pick nick on the front line they will be sent out in squads as sort of tactical groups.

The vote is in. The councillor counts, recounts, and counts again.

"My lord, the decision is that we shall conscript the elves, as guerilla auxiliaries, with the condition that after a tour of duty they may become second-class citizens, inferior to all humans. Those unfit to fight will be enslaved for light labor." The elves groan, and some of them wail. They fled from war, and now they are forced into it again.

Several months pass, and the harvest comes. In the middle of the harvest season, the Councillor comes before the senate. "My lords, i have grave news. We have uncovered a coven in Ryersdale. These mages act outside of the Mages guild, and what's worse, they study dark magics..." He hesitates a long time before he spits out the word, "...Necromancy. The people of Ryersdale are in an outrage, and rumor is spreading quickly."

Several guards drag in a man in black robes, and kick him to the ground. He speaks in a quiet, pained voice, and has clearly been beaten, "My lord senators... It is not as bad as it sounds. The undead are useful things, as the Orcs well know. They make mighty soldiers, and their losses need not be worried over. They can even be made to work the fields, like slaves!"

The councillor spits on the necromancer, "Silence, vile monster. You are why magics were made illegal in the homeland! Mages everywhere suffer the ill reputation your kind brings!"

It is decided. Necromancy shall be utterly illegal. The Mages guild, however, will look into ways of destroying the undead, based on the spellbooks of captured necromancers.

Witch-hunts crop up across Greystream, and though many necromancers are caught and executed, many innocents are caught up in the inquisition.

Winter passes uneventfully. The Orcs hunker down and fortify for the winter, and the Kobolds seem otherwise occupied.

Spring comes, and with it comes a messenger. "Milords!" says the messenger, "Elves! Hundreds of them! They landed in dozens of ships on the western coast. They's ragged and starv'n, but they settlin down, buildin a town!"

Your riders bear down on the elves with righteous fury. They rain down arrows and skewer elves on their lances. The Savna lions rip elves limb from limb. Some of the elven slaves absolutely refuse to fight, but still others are dishonored that the Elves would kill guests under their own roof, and attack with even more fury than your own men.

The Lizardfolk join you in battle. In the confusion of the battle, however, many humans are killed by Lizardfolk blowguns. The Lizardfolk claim that such attacks were accidents, or missed darts which simply hit men as they went astray. Many of the were strong warriors, and we suffered heavy casualties. However, many more were weak, starving, or otherwise unfit for battle, and they surrendered.

Using simple areas we can use thatch to seperate the living area fromt he door, some light insilation stone walls and wooden supports. The homes are sunk in a bit to provide some surface but the house is a foot or two in the ground for insulation and protection.
