Faateh Dh'vannkur - Warrior. Mercenary. Houseguard. Prisoner.

In the first part, you met Salaasenn, the female Lizardfolk, and reached the island, along with several others, in a begrimed barge.

In the second part, you pass the gates and encounter the ritual hazing meted out on new arrivals. You, though, just walk out because Faateh is a motherfucking Orc. We meet Porya, an old hobgoblin who tells us a little about what's going on the island. What he says about the Orcs betraying the guards to help the inmates overrun the prison does sting. You then decide to go up a tower, even though you know it belongs to Bathoot, and finally claim what is to be your new home.

People you know:
>Bathoot Bhara'kwi: the first Orkh'un you met here. Ranks higher than you in Thruum.
>Salaasenn: Nine-foot tall female Lizard. Makes everyone shit themselves. You don't know where she currently is.
>Ilyusha: Elf with red and green tattoos whom you first met on the barge
>Porya: Ancient, yellow hobgoblin with no hands. Knows quite a lot about the Prison
>Unnamed Human: Welcomed the new arrivals, before they got pissed on and beaten. Maybe the leader of a gang.

Gangs you know about:
>Humans: The Nation and Uprising.
>Elves and Lizards: There seem to be none
>Orkh'un: They are neutral, or at least profess to be
>Hobgoblins: Shorra Yellow. Yergadda Black. Surri Red.
>Shorra Yellow. Words: Now We Rise. 600 members.

A'right. Let's do this.
>>
>>29145695
Time to Orkh'un it up.
>>
Onward, to collect materials needed for a fire for food and smithing. Today we collect all the flint we can get our hands on. As well as figure out where one goes to get some food around here. Going a day without food is not debilitating but two days will be pushing it.
>>
>>29145737
May not have time for that, yet. The gangs may still be roaming around looking for prisoners to recruit, in case anyone managed to leave the Shower without getting snatched up.

>>29145695
So, are these the only races present on the island? Humans, hobs, elves, orcs, and lizards?
>>
>>29145695
It is morning.

Your new house on the rock jutting from the cliff-face to the south, that runs along the prison, is where you currently are. You had named it Gouged Eye Rock, Bohm'Gara Shir, as per Orkh'un custom. The night went well, you managed to get some sleep and wake up refreshed, well, you would have been had you not gone hungry for the last four days. The Orkh'un endure, that's true. But going on an empty stomach for more than five days is pushing it. Still you think it better to focus on all things that may require your attention.
>the previous runes on your new home that seem to have been scratched out.
>getting a weapon. You can do better than carrying about a secondhand wooden stick
>getting food, you have an entire day to focus on the other things
>searching for Salaasenn. Not that you care about her, but you do feel responsible for her. A little.
>something else.

Pick one.
>>
>>29145747
>Humans, hobs, elves, orcs, and lizards
Those races are all you've seen on the prison, yes.
>>
>>29145753
>the previous runes on your new home that seem to have been scratched out.
Investigate and then apply our own runes!
>>
>>29145753
>the previous runes on your new home that seem to have been scratched out.
>getting a weapon. You can do better than carrying about a secondhand wooden stick
>getting food, you have an entire day to focus on the other things

The lizard can take care of herself.
>>
>>29145778
Pick one.

But that's the order I had in mind as well.
>>
>>29145753
In order of time, effort, and complexity:
Mark our dwelling with the rune name we came up with last night. Investigate the old Runes. Find Salaasenn and food. Both are likely to be at the same place given that food is needed by all and all go to the easiest place to find food.

Those are the actions I say we should take and the order we should do so. Looking for flint as we go along so that we can light a fire back at our dwelling
>>
Additionally we should be on the lookout for long reeds or spare rags or clothing. We might be able to fashion a bag are basket for additional carrying capacity,

>the previous runes on your new home that seem to have been scratched out.

The scratched out Orkh'un runes on the wall facing the front door seem like a bad omen. Homes in your country are passed down from generation to generation. The same runes may remain carved for decades or centuries.

But your people here seem a bit - eccentric. After all, you hadn't heard of Orkh'un mutinies before you came here either.

From what you can make out, the runes seem to be an entreaty to Nysra-Shonzuhr, the Orkh'un goddess of life and death. Anyway, for now, you decide to paint your own runes over the wall. Blue would be auspicious enough. You decide to head out and open the door, and... see two Orkh'un standing below, on the ground, staring at you.
You
>climb down and approach them
>ignore them, you'll be meeting plenty in the prison. Gotta get that ink.
>go back inside and wait until they leave
>>
>>29145839
>climb down and approach them
The "former" occupants?
>>
>>29145839
We must meet them and test our Thruum against them.
>>
>>29145839
>>29145849
Also, check out their Thruum, I guess.

That seems to be the given whenever Orkh'un meet face to face?
>>
>>29145860
But we must be the one to initiate it. It will strengthen our Thruum. or so I think, could be wrong.

Captcha: affect yeeeeti The hell?
>>
>>29145879
I don't think it's a thing that's initiated? It's like....dogs sniffing each other's butts. It doesn't matter who started it since we're both going to do it anyway.
>>
>>29145839
Don't climb down leap down, it would be cooler and more intimidating.
>>
>>29145849
>>29145856
>>29145860
It's better to meet them. You'd have to match Thruum with sometime anyway.

For a brief moment you wonder if the house belongs to then. But it is too small for two occupants, and you doubt they would have let you spend the night in their own home.

You jump down onto the ground, the cudgel is with you. One of them carries traditional Orkh'un swords with him. You are reminded of your own two swords, Khargimm and Zurral, named after your sons. There is no weapon that brings about as much awe and terror as Orkh'un steel. It is certainly not the best, you have seen enough Orkh'un blades shatter on Dwarven armor and weaponry to know better. But as the saying goes, "Even a blind man notices an Orkh'un blade.".

It is time to begin the Thruum. The three of you start pacing together.
"Faateh Dhvann'kur."
"We know, Bathoot told us. Sangha Sharr'kur.", says the leaner one who carries the swords.
"Rakshirr Rokharri" says the other, it seems more than one mouth spoke at once.

CONTD
>>
>>29145916
This will certainly take more time than it did with Bathoot. Thruum's have been known to last an hour or more, when a rank becomes hard to establish.

You stare at Sangha Sharr'kur.
>Sangha Sharr'kur. Sharr'kur: Lizard foe. He certainly has gained that name after coming that to the presence, his eyes still wary of being challenged about that surname. It also means he didn't fight any significant war for the previous surname to stick.
>Few fresh scars. He's good.
>Traditional swords. Those would have been hard to get.

He carries a little more Thruum than you, not enough to make a difference, but his eyes tell you that he considers himself above you. Getting your own set of steel would sort that shit out.

2/3
>>
>>29145961
Now you glare at Rakshirr Rokharri.
>Rakshirr Rokharri. Rokharri: Manhunter. He's a bounty hunter. Certainly lower than a soldier.
>His indignant demeanor tells you that he knows he has a rather inconsequential surname despite having killed many.
>His skill hasn't been tested here, in the prison.

You are definitely above him.

Rakshirr doesn't look too pleased, Sangha doesn't betray any emotions.

"What did you come here for?", you ask tersely off Rakshirr.

"Came to look at new arrival. Not always do we get an Orkh'un brother." Sangha replies, an arm resting on his swords.

"And now what?"

"Bathoot asks for you. Says we better feed you before you shrivel up into a resin." Rakhsirr grunts at that, but doesn't meet your gaze.

"There was also talk of giving you weapon more - appropriate for an Orkh'un to carry." Sangha turns his back to you and heads off before you can say anything. Rakshirr follows him.

You now
>decide to head out and meet Bathoot. That fucker probably wants something from you, but it's about time you had something to eat
>Fuck him, get your runes done.
>go after Sangha and Rakshirr
>something else
>>
I know I'm taking too long to make a post. Sorry about that.
>>
>>29146010
Get our runes done, then go out to me Bathoot.

Also, can we eventually upgrade our surname to something more bad-ass?
>>
>>29145916
>your own two swords . . . named after your sons
Oh god, my heart.... we're a good father, I hope.

>>29145961
>He certainly has gained that name after coming that to the presence
Did you mean to say "coming WITH that presence"?

>>29146010
>Follow Sangha and Rakshirr
We might as well get ask them more about the island as well.

>>29146015
It's fine, it's fine. It's not even that long, for the amount that you wrote.
>>
>>29146010
We will not follow along with this traitor nor take his cursed steel. We will forage for our own food and weapons. We shall go and find food and rune marking material.

>>29146015
No worries. Again if you feel like it will take a bit just give a short post before hand. It will help alleviate that guilt you are feeling.

>>29146022
I will not conspire under the house of a traitor Orkh'un!
>>
>>29146022
That's only if we kill something more dangerous, lizards, trolls, more dwarves (though we havent seen any dwarves yet, so its doubtful their kept here).
>>
>>29146010
>Fuck him, get your runes done.

We need to mark our territory.

>>29146015
Don't be sorry ma, it's quality material. I'll wait half hour for a single post.
>>
>>29146022
>Also, can we eventually upgrade our surname to something more bad-ass?
No. The names aren't taken, they are earned. They are given to you by another Orkh'un who witness your feat.

An Orkh'un who uses a made up name would be outed during the Thruum.
>>
>>29146032
>I will not conspire under the house of a traitor Orkh'un!
They're not necessarily traitors. All we know about what happened came from a hobgoblin. It'd be fine to listen to their side of the story first, right?
>>
>>29146039
Better than than to later learn that they were not actually traitors in the first place. Wouldn't want to look like a presumptuous person.
>>
>>29146038

Let's not necessarily be rude about brushing them off, though. Just tell them that we have personal business to account for first and that we can take care of ourselves in the mean time.
>>
>>29146067
Don't be weak. We are Orkh'un and we do what we want, when we want to.
>>
We learned the fact of the Orkh'un guards who once tended the prison turned away from their Duty. I am distrustful of Bathoot, for he and his underlings are to well armed to not be former Guards. If we are to meet with Bathoot I would like for us to try and dig at his past and his present here in the prison.
>>
>>29146086
Isn't this how we ended in jail? Or did we want to come here?
>>
>>29146054
It's not just about kill count, as you can see in Rakshirr's case. Bathoot, Sangha, and Faateh are all soldiers, although Bathoot killed more than either Sangha or us.

>>29146061
I'm curious, though. Does an orc's surname only change if they've done something more impressive? For example, the lizardfolk are definitely quite dangerous, but would an orc like Sangha have his name changed if he killed hobgoblins with a kill count that could rival Bathoot's? Or does the lizard killings take precedence in this case?

>>29146086
It's about respect, anon, not weakness. We do not know yet for sure whether or not the orcs of this island deserve our displeasure.

>>29146095
The nobleman's son disrespected us.
>>
>>29146061
Bathoot can wait. There was something that doesn't feel right about those scratched out runes, and you feel that it would be best to make your own markings as soon as possible.

(I mentioned that Faateh wanted to do the runes in blue, it would have been better to ask you guys first. If anyone has any objections please let me know, I'll retcon that.)

So, know you need blue dye. A pity none of the hobbs, elves or humans bleed blue.

You remember that Hobbs painted their houses in red, yellow or black depending on which gang, and consequently which skin color, there belonged to. But you don't remember seeing any blue. Still, it wouldn't hurt to look for it there. Maybe that old one, Porya, has some. His room was full of poultices and herbs.

You also know that the Elves love those tattoos, you've seen plenty covered head to toe in them. Maybe it would be easier if you asked one. Maybe Ilyusha, if you came across him.

>you head to one of the Hobgoblin districts (specify if you want to see Porya)
>You head to the Elven district (specify if you want to look for Ilyusha)
>Any other thing you might want to do

>>
>>29146097

>>
>>29146103
We shall head our own way, we do not want to be in debt to anyone in our search for blue(A fine color) and we can look for food and get a lay of the land through our own eyes. It would be the best to walk the land ourselves.
>>
>>29146054
>>29146097
You do not need a surname. Another Orkh'un can tell if you have achieved something great. Not telepathy but comes damn close to it.

>I am very interested in the culture you've built here
Wait until I get into the mythos.
>>
>>29146097
You misunderstood my question, I want to now if killing something is the only way to get a surname, or if, say, we ripped a massive oak from the ground to use as a bridge, or something, and another orkh'un was completely impressed so he gave us a surname? What say you, OP? Is killing the only way to get a surname?
>>29146103
>>
>>29146091
We'll probably learn stuff like that as we try to figure out how this prison came under the control of the prisoners.

>>29146103
No problem with the dye.

Which would be safer to go to now. The elves aren't organized, but they might be wary of meeting a stranger. The hobgoblins just finished with the washing, but they could still be in a frenzy.

Eh. Let's go see Porya. He's a doctor, I think (despite his lack of hands), so he'd be handy as a contact.
>>
>>29146103
Let's go see porya.

Does the colour of a rune mean anything? If not I'm cool with blue or green.
>>
>>29146137
Blue is apparently "auspicious", so colors probably have meanings.
>>
I am once again the discordant thought. Ah well I shall at least help try and fill the gaps of our wants and needs during our stay here in prison.
>>
>>29146121
WE SHALL ASCERTAIN WHETHER OR NOT THESE ORKH'UN ARE CURS WITH OUR OWN EYES!

>>29146163
Well, really, we have no reason to go off on our own now. With the climate in this prison, that would be foolhardy.
>>
>>29146176
We are Orkh'un, they will allow us passage or we shall do to them what we did to the former owner of the whacking stick we hold.
>>
>>29146132
Yes, participation in wars and feats that involve violence are the only criteria. The Orkh'un are a martial society, martial skill is what they respect.

>>29146144
Blue is the color of the god that Faateh follows. Others can be used as well.

>>29146135
>>29146137
>>29146129
You don't like the idea of owing favors to anyone, especially not Elves or Hobgoblins. But, you're new here, and don't really have an idea of where to find dyes.

You decide to head out for Porya's home, west of Bathoot's tower.

The streets and alleys do have men on them now, they wore a deserted look during the Shower. You feel looks of awe and unease on you. Orkh'un have a powerful presence. You notice that many on the streets, the majority of them humans, have amputated arms. Quite a few lack fingers too.

They all seem to be heading eastwards, that is opposite of where the gates to the prison lie. For the time being though, your focus is on getting the dye.

You head to Porya's building.

"Hey, orc! This Shorra territory." you hear a voice behind you.

"I am here to see Porya." you say, without turning back or waiting for a reply.

You head up and see Porya, yesterday's pungent odor welcoming you again, fiddling with bandages on his arm-stumps with his mouth.
You
>get straight to the point and get out. Hobbs aren't the kind of people you want to socialize with

>>
>>29146270
Eh. Let's be blunt about wanting the blue dye. Being cagey like that doesn't suit our demeanor so far.
>>
>>29146225
>You are a motherfucking Orc, look among the shelves and bottles yourself.

Where you keep the rune die in this shack? You never know when being friends with an Orkh'un can help Porya.
>>
>>29146331
Porya (or at least, his home) is under the protection of a gang. Specifically, Sorra Yellow.

He hasn't done anything to deserve such a rude guest, so I see no reason why we should mess up his home.
>>
>>29146307
"I want blue die, make some for me. I want to see how you can work with no hands." Better?

>>29146338

You look at the pitiable bundle of skin and bones before, his toothless gums showing in that stupid smile of his.

"Hobgoblin, I need some blue dye. You got any in one of those containers?"

"Ah, bluuue, one color no one use before. Master Orc, coming up with another clan, perhaps Porya will join him, though to old to change skincolor now", he says with a cackle while making stabbing motions with his stumps. You know that Hobgoblins's hide changes color by itself to that of the leader in whose proximity they stay. The gangmembers of Red, Yellow and Black look the part.

"Yes, I always was a hobb at heart."

"This is Orc funny. Very very funny. Porya gets funny Orc some blue dye."

You watch as he hobbles over to a corner, gets a clay cask, holding it by the neck between to toes. Porya comes back onto the mat where he was sitting, picks up a few dark green leaves with red veins and puts them onto the mortar.

"Only have dried powder of Bua-Bua leaves. Good for stones in the kidney that make you squeal like bleeding piglet when pissing." He says as he proceeds to drop the contents of the cask, a blue powder, over the leaves and packs them into a small pouch, all with his feet.

"Just spit and you have nice blue. Very very nice blue."

"I'll remember you for this."

"Porya make sure master Orc remembers.", he says with another mad cackle.

You pick up the pouch and:

"I think I'll recruit some Lizards, can't seem to find them though."

"No one tell Master Orc about Lizards? Porya just like everyone then", he says while rubbing his pelvis back and forth over the floor.

"What about food then, what does your lot do for food?"

"We earlier liked to fish in the sea. No, we still do. We fish. We hunt animals and we loot newcomer ships. Everyone say the new one brought salted lamb. Hobbs only allowed to fish. Elves got control over hunting. You want food? You got to mess and get your food."

Hmm, it seems the gang leaders handle the food distribution inside the prison with different gangs having a monopoly on how it's procured.

Is our character actually considering making a gang, or is he just humorying Porya?

Interesting, well looks like this thought pattern will be at odds with the elves should it continue to advocate for hunting of our own food. Not good.

You knew Bathoot had asked for you, you just didn't expect him to be standing right there actually waiting for you to come. You find it hilarious though, would have laughed it hadn't been for an angry Orkh'un trying to stare you down.

Still, you decide to go talk to him. It wouldn't be prudent to piss off one of the few Orkh'un you know in an island where you are trapped with a thousand other scum.

But you didn't slaughter Dwarves for ten years to be lectured like a fucking child.

"Bhara'kwi, I didn't know you were waiting here. Had it been important, I thought, you would have come here yourself."

"Who do you fucking take me for, you shit? You think you are fine with that fucking stick you carry? Then so be it. You aren't getting any fucking weapon from me.", he waits for a moment fuming, but as you begin to come up with a reply, he cuts you off, "You ain't getting food either. You want that shit go with Rakshirr and Sangha, and do guard duty in the mines."

"Batho-"

"Don't.", he says, pointing a finger, "You think this is a joke don't you? Do what you're told, or I'll make you a fucking stone digger next."

You do what?

OP in situations like this you need to be assertive. >I am sorry, we are doing what now?
What?

>>29147079
How do you know that's not what an Orkh'un does? Rather, isn't it perfectly in keeping with Thruum? It displays his influence, and thus, his power on the island.
>>
Guys, this orkh'un has grown lazy and indignant due to his time leading in prison, he is no longer a true orkh'un, we need to show him what real men are made of.
>>
>>29147068

QTG is not my scene. I just dislike being called a samefag just for not agreeing with niggers like you. And pointing out obvious wrong counts turning shit into the Fedoratrain. You act like you and your likes only are the only ones allowed in this thread.

Op's writing is cool though, that is why I've been here since thread 1

I just saw that someone wanted to attack him. We are not yet ready to fight with only a pitiful whacking stick.

On the gripping hand it would be for an interesting story. So I am all for it. Lets do it. We can learn from the fight banter about his past as we get beaten within inches of our life and left to recover at the mercy of the inmates.
>>
>>29147125
I'm not complaining that you had a different opinion than me. I'm just pointing out that, as this thread has been averaging 2 or 3 votes per decision point, for that last decision to have suddenly gotten a number of votes for a decision that would have gotten us into trouble? That's the sort of thing that trolls brag about doing in the QTG.

You don't care if he screwed a bunch of Trolls in some shitty swamp. He doesn't get to pull this bullshit.

If need be you'll beat him down with this piece of wood, but now is not the time.

You turn your back to him and start walking away. You feel a slight tug, respect and deference is what needs to be shown to elders with high Thruum, but that doesn't even begin to compare with the rage you now feel.

Fuck Bathoot, and fuck all his lackeys. You were and are your own man. You aren't going to kowtow for a piece of meat. You'll hunt down your fucking food yourself.

You reach Gouge Eye Rock, get inside and start making the rune for Bohm'Gara Shir. It is now you allow yourself to calm down a little.

You go to the other room and sit down. You don't know if you'll be facing retribution. Orkh'un laws are strict when it comes to feuding amongst your people. But you don't know how depraved the Orcs here are.

What is your next course of action?

The sun is out and about, but you still have some time before noon.

No wars are won on an empty stomach. You decide to get yourself some food by yourself. But there are some problems, first, you lack any weapon to hunt with. Second, you don't even know what fauna resides on this island. You recall that you didn't see any wildlife in the trees on your journey from the shore to the prison complex. Third, you don't know how the Elves will respond.

What now?

The elves aren't organized into any group, so they might have some problems that an enterprising orc such as ourselves could help with.....in exchange for....hunting rights?
>>
>>29147376
>That elf, the one that we met on the ship. Perhaps we can use him as leverage to make a deal of sorts with the elves?

You decide to meditate for a while. You are in dangerous territory, where you perhaps can't even trust your own people. To clear your head and think of the choices you have before you.

You think of Bohm Garaash; the Chained Walker, the Eternal Pilgrim, whose blood from bleeding feet continues to envelop the Spirit Realm's earth. You ask him for guidance.

You have hunted animals barehanded before, but you don't even know what manner beasts you may encounter here. A cracked cudgel perhaps may not be enough.

You may hire yourselves out to one of the gang leaders. But serving someone who is the chief of the scum residing here is not particularly appealing.

You think of the elf, Ilyusha, he seemed amiable enough. A bit too snarky perhaps, but he could get you in contact with the people who matter in his tribe.

What is your next course of action?

>>
You decide to go, meet Ilyusha. Perhaps he'll may tell you about the Lizards too.

As you go out, you take another look at the runes. The blue is coming out nicely. Maybe the rune will luck start working in your favor now.

The Elven district is nearby, just across the open space that is around Gouged Eye Rock. As you head there, you can't help but notice all the strings that run between buildings and across this streets with colorful flags on them. You head into a narrow alley looking for someone from whom you may ask Ilyusha's whereabouts.

And just as you emerge from the alley into a narrow, empty street, you see a reptilian tail for a brief moment before it vanishes into another alley connected to the street.

You don't really feel too protective of the Lizard right now, and you certainly do not want your back to it. But, you don't really want the Elves to chop it up into pieces either.

You maintain a safe distance from the Lizard, and look at the rooftop from where the shout came.

No need, it seems there were a shitload of people in the buildings and they are all coming out on the street.

"The fuck is wrong with you? That things was just passing through here. Now when it wakes up, who do you think it's gonna eat?"

These elves certainly do not look the epitome of grace that these people are made out to be, they all look rather emaciated and wretched.

"Maybe we should just cut off its head, no one needs to know." Another elf says worriedly.

"Yea, and Artem will have you sing the Thirteen Ballads as he carves out your balls."

What do you say to them?
>>
>>29148005

>>
>>29148005
The lizards are under someone's protection?

At least, that's what it seems like. Anyway, ask the elves about the lizard. Do they know where it was coming from or going to?
>>
>>29148020
"I'll drag him out of here, give me something to tie it with and a weapon to keep him under control."

"What the fu- No, wait, that actually sounds like an idea." says the one standing at the front of the crowd, "We don't have any weapons though, they take those back when we come back from the hunt."

Several minutes later, you have it tied down. You took extra care to make sure its jaws stay shut and the tail is tied to one of his legs.

Your chest still hurts though, a rib maybe broken. You certainly can't drag it all the way back by yourself.

You think its better to make some inquiries first.

"Before I take it out of here, tell me, what was it doing here?"

"New arrival, I see. Well, they keep them in ditches during the day and then let them out during the night. The hobbs then round them up around morning, but sometimes one gets lose- "

"Those fucking Hobbs can't be tru- ", another elf speaks up.

"Kirill, I'll shoot you in the face the next time I get my hands on a bow! Yes, sometimes a Lizard gets out and, you know, we just stay in cover until someone comes and captures it."

"What are they used for?"

"Why, to fight what comes out of the sea at night."

The combat system felt dull, yes. You may want to work on it some more.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Alex%20Hanger

Here's an example of a quest with a combat system that I rather enjoyed. Perhaps you could learn a bit from it?
>>
>>29148169
Well, as for the combat system, what were you aiming to do? Do you want it to me more simulationist, or more narrative-driven? Do we get really specific bonuses if we suggest a specific move, or do we roll with the roll? Do you want to make crits and critfails more scarce or more common?
>>
>>29148211
Sure, I'm gonna be scrapping the one I used here anyway.

>>29148249
I wanted a system that kept fights brief, and was fun for the players to be a part of.
>>
>>29148264
Just a question; have you had much experience in writing out fighting scenarios?
>>
There's another thing I wanted to know, how frequently should I be holding sessions?

is every alternate day, good enough?
>>
>>29148279
Not really, no. Most of it has been verbal. I guess I need to work on that.

I'll try and work and possible scenarios and have the text pre-written. That should help I guess.
>>
>>29148282
Twice or thrice a week is already pretty good. Weekends are the times when it's easiest to come on and play, I think.
>>
>>29148264
You want brief, then you have some options.
>Make it deadly. Crits are kinda frequent but not too frequent that they bore the players.
>Make the fighting segment resolve within a few dice, five session for a fight is pushing it.

And if you want to visualize fights more, I recommend watching some movies. Wuxia/kungfu is good, but more dirty fights (like, say, the newer Bond movies) are good as well. Note how the environment aid or hinder your fights.
Like, say, let's say an elf ambushes our orc from behind a corner. If we are successful we can dodge the strike and face the elf. If we are even more successful we can even grab the elf's arm and either do a judo throw or break it. If we are unlucky then the elf struck us in the chest. If we are very unlucky the elf struck us harder than we could react, and we are now reeling. And then we could build off the next scene in the fight based on that result. Do we break the elf's arm, if we missed the strike? Do we punch back? How do we try to defend ourselves if the strike landed? etc. etc.

Plenty of good advice, I'll try and keep it in mind. I'll try and do a system with nice crits but for the near future it would be better to use a third-party one.

Ah, no, I just meant to ask if you would be fastidious in archiving the threads on your own from now on. I've known of quests that didn't have a thread archived because no one remembered to do so.

So, you'll be announcing the next session on your twitter, right?

I'll be sure to watch out for it. G'night and see you next time.

So, the lizard. Bring it back to our home, and then what? Do we want to break the skull of a bothersome Hobb and feed it to him?

The various Hobbs i think have a monopoly over the elves too, because is Yellows have 600 in a prison of 3000, makes me thing there's more hobbs than everyone.
