You are Bianca Machiti, reincarnation of the Greek goddess Bia. And... you feel a bit out of place. Give or take twenty four hours ago, you were a normal girl. Well, mostly. Amateur kickboxer at a gym, a pretty damn good one too. Then you suffered through your 'first ascent', awakening as a godling in the games set up by The Fates. Just in time too, as one of the other shattered pantheons, the Egyptians, sent a jackal headed monster to kill you.

So you killed it.

Then you went home and slept off the sickness that accompanied your first ascent, only to be awoken this morning by your friend and mentor, Donna. You explained everything you knew to her, and she was... oddly accepting. She always was the 'seeing is believing' sort. You had to run, though, as Hermes sent you towards your first Trial: Slay the Nemean Lion. You sought it out, but were drawn into a trap it set. But hey, Victory was in your side. Nike, your sister, arrived with her ally, Athena. Nina and Atla are their mortal names. Together, you slew the Lion, and felt yourself growing stronger afterwards.

Then damn Nike kicked your ass at rock-paper-scissors and stole your loot. At least she gave you a magic shield in return!

Ah, but back to basics. You feel out of place, sitting in an expensive Italian restaurant with Nike and Athena. The hostess knew them by name, and gave them a private table by the windows, a very nice view of the garden just outside.

So. What do you have to ask of your comrades?

So, why do we all have names conveniently similar to our respective mythological counterparts? Anyone know?
>>
>>29172618
Are the pantheons competing with each other in this? Will we have to fight Norse gods like Thor? How about our own pantheon? Is everyone allied?
>>
>>29172618
So, how long have you two known about being mythological warriors?
Know any others like us? Any particularly friendly or dangerous ones?
How are you handling the whole 'attacked by rival pantheons' thing? Cause I gotta tell you, it's sucked so far.
How'd the two of you meet, then?

That should cover us for a while.

So... Where do you two work?
>>
>>29172618
Glad to see you back! Enough good questions here already, so I won't add any yet at least.
>>

"So... why do we all have names conveniently similar to our respective mythological counterparts?" You ask, trying to seem nonchalant as you fail to recognize most of the menu items.

"A joke by The Fates." Athena shrugs. "That's my bet, anyway." You can only nod. It feels like the sort of thing they'd do. ...how do you even know that?

"So, are the other pantheons competing with eachother in this? Will we have to fight Norse gods like Thor?" You ask, remembering when you used to read comic books, and the recent movie. You're not very savvy about mythology and such, but you know a little. Like you don't want to go toe to toe with him.

"Nnnot really." Nike pipes up. "See, a lot of pantheons were completely wiped out, like ours, but some survived by the skin of their teeth, yeah? Like the Egyptians, Norse, Hindu... those are the strongest three. We're not competing so much as they're trying to stop us ascending altogether. They don't want more competition." She explains, then motions for a bit of quiet as the waiter approaches. She and Athena order, and she catches your ever so slightly bewildered look at the menu, and orders the same thing she got for you.

"Right..." You starts, as the waiter disappears again. "How long have you two known about all this? Do you know any others? Any... particularly friendly or dangerous?"

"A year for me. The Thrones get all sorts of perks, like we said. Prep time is one. " Athena says "Two months for me." Nike says. "Avoid Ares. No ifs, ands, or buts. He's unbalanced, and he's had a long time to get prepped. That's all I can think of outright on the badguys front... as for friends? Zelus and Kratos are with us one hundred percent." You feel warm hearing the names. Proud. And like a weight lifted, hearing they're ok. "Zeus is willing to help us if we don't push it." She muses. Athena nods.

>Cont.
>>
>>29172992
Huh, well that sounds rather more optimistic than expected. One lunatic and several allies huh? Guess the other pantheons will have to step it up.
>>
>>29172992
What about Vulca...Hephaestus?

Could he get us some decent armors and weapons?
>>
>>29172992
Makes sense since we were warriors for Zeus
>>
>>29172992
"Poseidon isn't too fond of you and your siblings, since you have such a close connection to Zeus. Some of the others have some animosity over you lot being... well, his hit squad, pretty much." The Throne muses, leaning back.

"You handling the whole... 'attacked by rival pantheons' thing?" You ask, and Nike blushes. Athena grins.

"I've fought a lot of creatures. This is the first real Trial, but there's be incidents. I blew up a frost with C4!" She grins widely.

"I. Uh. I haven't had a lot of encounters. Two, actually. One was a griffin. Rode it into a power-line. And... I kind got seduced by a Huldra. Don't want to talk about it." Nike mumbles, scratching her neck. You make note of that to pester her with later.

"So... where do you guys work?" You ask, looking around.

"Oh, Atla, miss Pallas, owns a small but highly successful private security firm. I'm her secretary!" Nike explains with a grin.

"Secretary. Sure." Pallas rolls her eyes.

"Ok, secretary, bodyguard, and intercompany instructor for long-range precision anti-personnel marksmanship." She explains.

"She's a sniper." Atla says, winking.

"So.. what should I do now? Like, necessary security stuff, useful equipment... does, what's his name, Hephaestus? Does he make gear?" You ask, eyeing the pocket where Athena keeps her pen-spear.

"Yeah, actually. He makes all sorts of enchanted gear. His soul has a lot of anger from the way his first form was treated, but times and people are different, so he's faced less abuse and he's more mellow. Pay him right and he'll make whatever you need." Athena explains.

"He's one of the few neutral godlings, like Hermes. He's making me a rifle! Cost three million dollars. If it wasn't for the company I keep, I'd be living in my car." Nike cheerfully rests her forehead on the table in shame and sorrow.

"As for what to do? Keep your allies close. Work in a team. Watch out for the Thrones who aren't on your side especially." Athena says, shrugging. "The logical. The normal for a small war."

"War. Private security company?" You dryly ask.

"Private security company looks so much better for PR than private military company. Plus we mostly do security work, training, instructing, etcetera." The grey eyed woman primly notes, pointedly looking out the window.

"Right. So how did you two meet anyway? You work for her before you found out, somehow?" You ask Nike.

"Yup. Another joke by The Fates. Nike and Athena were always close back in the day, and now we're, uh. Ahem. I'm not giving the fire more fuel." She crosses her arms and you grin.

Yeah, fucking lucky Nike and her gold-digging tendencies. Ah well, at least we know how to fight unarmed. And we can still see if something can be worked out with Hephaestus.
>>

"Alright, so how are we handling the missions and such, or needing help? Just ring each-other up?"
>>
>>29173450
So, this might be a bit fast of me, but could you hire me into the company or something? If I'm going to get attacked by rival pantheons, I kind of want to have backup close by, you know?

Not to mention that I'll have more time to tease you, Nike.
>>
>>29173552
>>29173618
"Really? You throw material like that at me, then expect me not to joke? You're like my comedy muses!" You tease, grinning. Your meal arrives as you and Nike finish a five minute raspberry blowing fight, where Athena politely sat and read from a small book. "So, is there a way for me to get ahold of Hephaestus? And what are we supposed to do about the Trials or when we need help? Just ring each-other up?"

Athena nods. "Just call and we should be able to help. The pros of being the owner." She says with a wink. "As for Hephaestus, I'll have Hermes put you in touch." You eat in silence for a bit after that, before considering.

"Should I worry about the other pantheons or Ares or... well, anyone going after my friends and family?" You ask.

"The other pantheons, no.. They only care about you . But Ares... watch your friends and family. They could be in danger soon, since you passed the Trial." She warns.

"Orphaned only child. Nina is pretty much my only friend." Atla explains.

"Miss Pallas assigned a squad of our top agents to protect my parents. As for friends, never really had many. Too busy with my work." Nina explains.

"Huh. So... this might be a bit fast for me, but could you hire me into the company or something? If I'm going to have to worry about all this, I kind of want to have backup close by, you know?" You hesitantly ask.

Athena stands, steps to the side, and then goes down to both knees, clasping her hands in prayer. "Oh- hey, who do we pray to?" She asks Nike.

"...ourselves? We ARE awesome, afterall."

"Right. Oh mighty Athena, thank you for this gift, my company shall grow to ever greater heights with a superhuman combat monster working for me." She says. "Amen. You're hired. What's your job anyway?"

"...eh, can't expect all the godlings to be professional badasses." Athena muses, shrugging. You nod happily.

"Unrelated to anything." You note, catching their attention. "Her on her knees. Common sight for you?" You ask Nike, grinning widely. Aaah she punches hard. That one's going to leave a bruise, as she catches you across the jaw. Athena politely sits down and draws her book as Nike tackles you. The two of you brawl across the empty restaurant, to the horror of the host and waiters. Yeah. This is how most of your meetings with your sister goes. It's always fun.

Eventually you and Nike are thrown out, and Athena writes out a check for the owner, who rapidly goes from irate to cheerily inviting you back any time.

"So. If you're going to be working with us, we should get you equipped back at headquarters. Do you need a ride anywhere else first?" Athena asks.

>Do you? Donna might be interested, and she's the only one you're close enough to in town that could count as 'friend and family'.

"Yeah, do you mind if we stop by my place? My friend, Donna, is waiting there. She knows about all this and she's really my only close connection in these parts. My parents live in Florida." You explain. Athena nods and climbs into the car. You direct her onwards to your little apartment, where you head up and in.

"You're back! How did it go?" Donna asks, waving a bottle of scotch from your collection at you. You frown, considering how expensive the bottle was. Then you smile. You have a decent job now!

"It went great! They're waiting downstairs, they gave me a job and everything!" You say. You explain everything to her and she eagerly follows you down. You let her ride in the front, while you sit in back with Nike.

Nike looks troubled, frowning as you drive. "So. You give me shit... then bring your girlfriend along to your first day at work?" Donna and Athena sigh tiredly up front.

"A pleasure. Forgive Bianca." Donna shakes hands with Athena. Athena nods. "Agreed. Ignore Nina." She responds.

"Oh come on! I am allowed my perfectly valid opinion on my sister's romantic life and teasing." Nike says, turning her nose up.

"Oh bite me. Don't you have a boot to lick? Or perhaps sip it and go right for, you know-" Aaah yup, she punches entirely too hard. But so do you. Donna and Atla ignore you as they drive, then eventually get out while you're pulling on Nike's hair and she's pushing your face against the window with her stupid duck shoes.

"I tink we gah lef." You say, muffled by the glass in your face, watching them walk inside a tall office building. "Looks that way. Tour?" Nike asks, looking past you. "At ould be lobely." You say, and the two of you pile out, you rubbing your face and her straightening her hair as you stumble in.

"So! Welcome to Aegis Limited, a small, select private security firm. Only the best. Where you wanna go first? Armory? Gym? Lounge? Control room? Oh! Cafeteria?" Nike asks, grinning widely. "A good ass kicking always makes me hungry."

"A cafeteria? Seriously? How small is a 'small' security firm, exactly?" You ask, as she leads you to an elevator. "Let's see the gym. I've got a professional interest in it. Well. Amateur interest, technically." You order, and she snickers, hitting a button.

"We employ about two hundred people total. We focus on small security contracts for high profile VIPs and training local groups. I, personally, train our instructors in long-range precision anti-personnel marksmanship." She explains.

"Sniping." You respond.

"Just- damnit, don't say that. People think bad things when they hear that." She whines. "Anyway. You won't have to do much actual work, we'll get you put on bodyguard duty with me, that way the three of us can be close to each-other most of the time. We'll figure out something for your girlfriend. Might be able to get a small team put on her security." She explains, and you roll your eyes. The doors open with a ding, and she steps out into a massive white room. "This floor and the next are the gyms. This is for CQC training in the rings, the next is for weight lifting, treadmills, punching bags, etcetera." She indicates the large fighting ring in the middle, and the many dummies and smaller rings set up around the huge room.

"Hey, you wanna go a round?" She asks, pointing to the big ring.

Wait, lets' find out how Donna feels about a security team before we foist it on her. I mean, no chance we're letting her go around unguarded, but might as well hear her thoughts first.

"You fucking bet!" You holler, tearing off your jacket and then bouncing on one foot as you struggle to get your shoes off. She's racing as quick as you, tossing her coat, suit jacket, and shoes and socks. You get your shoes and socks off, and the two of you square off. "I only really know kickboxing at the moment." You explain, stretching as she rolls her sleeves up.

"That's fine! This'll be great! You ready?" She asks, taking a stance with one foot back, and both hands up, palms towards you, shoulder length apart. "Ready when you are." She says, grinning widely.

Defending has served you well so far, so you keep back, letting her dart towards you. She leads with a punch that you block with your forearms, then plants a foot and kicks at your leg with the other foot. You block with your shin, then push off, stepping in and boxing her twice in the face with a pair of jabs. She takes them like a champ, using it as a chance to grab your arm and twist, trying to throw you over her shoulder. She manages it, but you grab her arm with the arm she was swinging you with.

"Nope." You use her as a fulcrum to twist and land on your feet, pulling her in and jabbing her in the face again. You release her as she stumbles back a step, and leap away, squaring off again.

"Niiice. Very acrobatic, like one of them kung fu wuxia films!" She tease, regaining her footing and squaring off.

You go for broke, dashing in and taking to the air, flipping around to deliver a reverse kick to her head- but are quickly blocked. You feel the grip on your leg as she swings, letting your momentum do half the work as she redirects you and sends you flying. You hit the ground and roll, landing on your feet and twisting, darting at her again. You snap off a pair of quick kicks, blocked, but too quick to let her get a grab, then twist and reverse kick to the opposite side, sending her skidding sideways. You'd compliment her footing, if you weren't trying to pound her face in with a flurry of jabs, your other arm guarding your face.

Her head snaps back from a powerful jab, but her arms dart together to grab your wrist. She pulls back and steps in, slamming her elbow into your face and releasing you, snapping up a kick to force you back while you're distracted. "Atla's going to kill your ass if you keep busting up my pretty face! Do me a favor and go for a few more body shots- it'll give me an excuse to talk her into giving me a massage!" She doesn't give you time to recover from the hard hits, delivering a flying kick to your chest and bringing you down, landing on you and grabbing your ankles. Next thing you know, she's rolling and you're flying through the air, and only superhuman reflexes let you land on your feet and twist around to face her, already sliding into your favorite stance again.

"Thank you for flying-" She starts, twisting and letting your momentum aid her in swinging you around. "Air Nike!" She swings, releasing you, and you fly through the air, fast approaching the far wall. You instinctively sprout and spread your wings, stopping cold-

But she's right there, right behind you, flying through the air. A foot plants in he middle of your back and you hit the wall hard, cracking it slightly as she kicks off and lands on her feet. You slide down the wall, groaning slightly as you touch the ground, then sink to your knees.

"Ooow." You mutter, wings sinking into your back as you drag yourself up, then turning to face her again. That hurt, but you can still go, if you want.

>1d100 and action.
>[] You ain't letting that go! Take the fight to her!
>[] Gods damned counter-fighters, take away her advantage, make her come to you!

>>[x] Gods damned counter-fighters, take away her advantage, make her come to you!
Better late than never!

Alright, let's not ruin this roll. Time for sis to get some pay-back.
>>
>>29177080
That is simply too beautiful to harm in any way. We are pissed, but cold furious pissed.

She's beat us up enough, now we wait for her to get cocky, then we whip her shit.
>>
>>29177080
Fuck

Yes
>>
>>29177080
You wait. For the perfect moment, you wait. She's cocky, riding her high from tossing you around like a rag doll. She'll try a full frontal assault next. You're ready for that. She plants her feet and darts at you, leaping up and twisting, stretching out her leg for a flying kick. You reaching out and slap her heel with your palm, sending her off course as you move to the side, letting her kick the wall hard. You hear it crack more, but are already moving forward.

A haymaker to her face sends her flipping backwards, head over heels. Superhuman reflexes let her hit on her feet, but that's not a good thing for her, as you're already twisting- Crocodile Whips Its Tail, a very photogenic move, your heel cracks against her jaw and she spins, going down and landing on her back and rolling. She's on her feet, blocking a staccato of jabs, but a snap kick to the side lifts her off her feet, and when your foot hits the ground again, you use it as an anchor to snap up and knee her with your other leg, knocking the air out of her and sending her flying. She crashes into the ring, and you're treated to the satisfying sound of her smashing the bell attached to the side.

"There's the body shot you were wanting, sis!" You tease, grinning widely as you approach. She lays in the half smashed ring, raising one hand. "Yeeeah, thanks." She mumbles, letting you help her up. "That hurt. Ow."

"Did you just wreck my gym?" You hear from the elevator. "I think you just wrecked my gym. You broke the wall!" You spot Athena, she looks annoyed, standing next to Donna, who is hiding her face in one hand and shaking her head.

"...I blame Bia!" Nike exclaims, pointing at her with the arm not currently wrapped around your shoulders to support her.

>What do?
>>
>>29177328
>...sorry about that. We were just, you know. Sisterly sparring.
>>
>>29177328
Point at Nike. "Hey, she was the one that broke the wall, not me!"

Then kind of pause and grin sheepishly, "Though I did wreck the ring when I whooped your girl's ass. I was showing that I have a lot to offer to your company? Oh god, I'll pay you back I swear."
>>
>>29177328
"Hey, I think sis needs some patching up, and I figure I'm not the best candidate here. Wanna take over?"
Then tell Donna about the awesome fight.
>>
>>29177328
"Oh come on, like you two haven't sparred and wrecked the place before. You have, right? Please tell me you do it all the time."
>>
>>29177328
She started it.
>>
You smile. "Come on, like you two haven't sparred and wrecked the place before! You have, right? Please tell me you do it all the time." You whimper slightly.

"Actually, Atla just has some impressive strength, upper human limit. She gets my on skill. Sooo no. Nope, this is on you." Nike says, grinning. You pale and try to talk your way out of the annoyed glare, but she just sighs tiredly and takes Nike from you, dragging her off as you bounce over to Donna. "Not counting my first check likely being docked, that was awesome!" You cheer. She drops the annoyed act and lets her fight junky shows itself, and you fill her in all about it.

The four of you chatter for a while, joking and making small talk while Athena patches up Nike. Eventually, you all start towards the armory, Athena explaining.

"We need to get you both ID cards, and equipment for Donna from the normal armory. Bia, we'll get you your gear from my artifact storage, fair?" She explains, leading you on and getting everything done up. Any questions while she fits Donna with a vest and a gunbelt, and gets you both cards printing up?

>What ask about your new job?
>>
>>29177855
>Alright, so, what specifically do I do in this job? And I'm guessing I put new artifacts in the storage unless I need them?
>>
>>29177855
Just thank her a lot for letting you have it, and ask when you show up tomorrow.
>>
>>29177903
Let's go for this!
>>
>>29177903
"Alright, so, what specifically do I do in this job? And I'm guessing I put new artifacts in the storage unless I need them?" You ask, as she opens a safe, then the safe inside, then the safe inside, and draws out a suitcase.

"You're allowed two artifacts from storage ontop of any you recover personally, which are all yours." She explains, popping open the case. Inside are a small charm that looks like a bullet, a pen, a little chain necklace with an arrow charm, and a pin that looks like a knife.

"We've got a pistol recovered from a Norse dwarf, a classic Greek longspear like mine, a bow and quiver, arrows restock, and a shortsword from a demon." She explains.

>Chose! Any that gets three choices will be taken, the first two that manage thee will be the choices, obviously.
>>
>>29178324
Shortsword, since we have a shield, and maybe that pistol.

We already have a spear/staff, so with that load out we will have long, mid, and short range covered.
>>
>>29178324
>Sword
>Pistol
Sword for close, pistol long. Simple fact is, its easier to practice shooting guns than shooting a bow and arrow, and the pistol is probably smaller and easier to carry/hide as well.
>>
>>29178324
Sword and bow

Gotta use that strength
>>
>>29178370
>>29178428
>>29178504
>That's three for sword, locked in. Two for pistol, one for bow. Five minutes, then going with what's got the most votes if we don't get the three.
>>
>>29178504
I would like the bow, but that's a skill that takes a lifetime to learn. Better to save those for Artemis, who likes long range stuff.

We also seem to be a melee focused goddess, so I'm thinking something point and shoot would probably be better for us.
>>
>>29178555
Guess it's pistol.
>>
>>29178555
>Aaand I'm afraid we're actually done for the night. My night suddenly got very busy, and I will be unable to GM. I will continue this tomorrow at the same time as today. Someone please archive with the same tags as the last two, I would greatly appreciate it.
>>
>>29178699
Ah, alright. Thanks for running, see you tomorrow!
>>
>>29178699
Hanging out with Nike is fun! Good job writing those parts.

You're assuming anyone reading this knows how, or has any initiative.
