You are Captain WILLIAM PIERCE, a combat rescue officer of the United States Air Force.

You are now sitting in the back of a C-130, possibly somewhere over Russia, most likely over some Middle Eastern nation. You're not quite sure, as your exact flight path was classified and the pilots didn't seem like the talkative type.

You mentally review your mission details. You were going to be HALO dropped into Russian territory, where you were to make the rest of your way to your objective, codenamed Golf. At that point, you were to split up into two teams. One team would go in and extract Sokolov, while the second would disable Golf's communication and early warning radar systems so that additional aerial support and extraction could be sent in. Tarin and Janice, equipped with stealth strikers, would provide close air support in the meantime. Even Ghost was tagging along to give you a bit of extra firepower.

Well, it sounded simple in practice, but you knew it could get complicated fast.

You also had to get used to the fact you and your squadmates were dressed up as Spetsnaz. One of Agent West's little ideas.

Oh yeah, he was on the plane too, by the way. You guess he liked overseeing his ops personally.

"Thirty minutes till drop." You hear the pilots announce.

You decide to meander over to where the Deltas are sitting. Like you, they're dressed and equipped as Spetsnaz, and also loaded down with all that extra equipment that was required to ensure a safe HALO jump. Sure, you only spent a week together, and most of that week was them sadistically chasing you and Red through the woods like fucking Goatmen. You were glad Red didn't get the reference when you yelled that out at the time. However, you knew they had your best interests at heart, and after you managed to successfully evade them for a full day, they all congratulated you.

And then told you to do it again.

Well, it's the thought that counts.

"Hey there, Pierce." Lex nods. "Anxious."

"Of course I am." You sigh. "You?"

"Hell no. We Deltas got an image to uphold, you know!" Lex responds, nodding to the rest of his squad.

"Yeah, whatever." You grin.

"Also, Red told me you weren't big on HALO. Something happen?"

"Eh...."

"Ah, well..." You frown. "It was during a training run, a few years back. It was simple really, jump out the plane, land in a field, and that would be it. BUT, once my chute deploys, I get hit by a sudden gust of wind and I get blown off course."

"Well, that happens all the time." Lex frowns. "Doesn't sound too bad."

"I didn't finish." You sigh. "It just so happened, we were in the same airspace as a witch flight. I guess the traffic controllers figured we wouldn't cross paths. Either way, I get blown into their flightpath, and the flight lead, I guess she was distracted by managing her trainees, flies right into me."

"Ouch." Lex winces.

"You know, some men, like me, would consider that a good thing." Beagle quips.

"Shut up, let him finish." Kilroy whispers as he lightly elbows his squadmate.

"Yeah, so she gets tangled in my chute and we drop the last couple hundred meters, but her shield soaks most of the impact." You shudder. "So, imagine this. You're a emergency responder, and you see a chute just fall out of the sky. You run over, and you see a PJ and a witch tangled together in a very awkward and compromising position."

"Wow." Lex whistles.

"Oh yeah, and the witch in question happens to be your girlfriend." You add at the end.

"Daaaaaaaaaaamn!" Beagle cackles. "How'd you survive that?"

"Who says I did?" You say solemnly before sighing. "But seriously, it took like, an hour of straight up apologizing to convince them I didn't float my way there on purpose. Nothing came of it because everybody involved was too embarrassed to report it."

"Seriously, what is with these guys who have witches literally fall into their lap, and they think it's a goddamn curse?" Kilroy sighs.

"Yeah, I'd like that to happen at some point." Beagle nods.

"Be careful what you wish for, Beagle." Lex laughs then turns to you. "Don't worry, we've had our share of misadventures too. Maybe someday we'll tell you why we can never take the callsign Spectre or Tango ever again."

"ETA 15 minutes!" The pilot announces.

"Definitely sounds like a story." You say as you get up. "But I should check on my witches."

The Deltas nod and you move off to the rear of the plane, where you see three sets of Nighthawk strikers set and ready to deploy. The onboard techs were already prepping Janice, Tarin, and Ghost to put on their strikers. Like you, they're dressed in thick, insulated clothing and equipped with oxygen masks. Even with their shields, flying at this altitude was potentially hazardous to witches. Red was also there, but, like you, dressed in Spetsnaz gear.

"So... big mission, huh?" Red says a bit anxiously.

"Yeah." You nod. "You checked everything?"

"Yeah, everything's working. Chute and oxygen mask are fine." Red says.

"How about you two?" You turn to Janice and Tarin. "Gotten used to the new strikers?"

"Well, not quite." Janice sighs. "One week just isn't enough time to master them, but it seems Agent West here insisted we run on a tight schedule."

"We'll make it work." Tarin says.

"Oh, believe me, they're doing pretty good. I'm sure they'll do alright." Ghost adds in.

"Alright, all of you e careful out there." You say before departing. You want to get a few words in with West before it was time to jump. The CIA agent is casually sitting in his seat, browsing through some briefing folders before looking up to see you approach.

"Ah, Captain Pierce, what can I do for you?" He asks politely.

"I just have a few questions." You say. "Just to clarify a few things."

"Well, I'll answer to the best of my ability." West nods.

"What can we expect to see in the base?" You ask him. "The briefing was pretty vague, except for 'lots and lots of Spetsnaz.'"

"Well, that's part of the problem." Agent West slowly closes the folder he's reading. "We don't have a lot of hard intel on Golf, and most of what we have is provided by Sirius. Our best guess is that there are roughly anywhere from 50 to 100 guards in the facility, with at least four SAM sites. It's not exactly a large facility, but it's very well defended."

"I see." You frown. "What kind of support can we expect if things go bad?"

"If you don't take down their comms and radar? Practically none." West says matter of factly. "That deep in Russia, we won't be able to get support assets to you without risk of getting shot down. If you DO manage to take out their early warning systems, we have bombers on standby to provide a diversion and helicopter assets ready to extract you."

"Well, I guess that gives us plenty of incentive not to screw things up."

"I agree." West nods. "Oh yes, there's one more important matter I must inform you of."

"Yes?"

"You've read the briefing on the base commander, right? A Colonel Volgin?"

"Yeah." You nod. "What about him?"

"Well," West pauses for a moment, as if debating on telling you or not. "His direct second in command, Raikov, is the same witch that nearly killed you. In all likelihood she will be in the facility as well if Volgin is there."

You feel a little pit form in your stomach at that revelation. You then see Lex waving at you to come over.

"Is there anything more you can tell me about them?" You ask. You figure whatever Lex wanted to talk to you about could wait.

"Well, Colonel Volgin is, in no uncertain terms, a 'mean motherfucker.'" West coughs. "His father was an NKVD officer in the Martian War, and we all know the sort of stuff they did."

You nod. They were essentially the Russian army's internal police, who made sure Russian soldiers didn't retreat, usually at gunpoint. Generally not very nice people.

"Well, Colonel Volgin here didn't fall far from the tree. He joined GRU and was a big proponent for integrating Martian technology into the Russian military. Not to mention, he's a hardcore Stalinist and very loyal to the regime. As a reward, he was given control over his own personal research base, which is where Sokolov is. He's also got the habit of 'retiring' scientists after they complete their projects, which is why Sokolov is willing to defect."

So, basically the typical hardcore Russian badass. You could deal with that... hopefully.

"And, Raikov?"

"Nasty piece of work, she is." West frowns. "We don't have many details of her early life, but we do know that she's a hardcore Stalinist like Volgin, and works with the regime of her own free will. She picked up a nasty reputation in Afghanistan, and I think the government there still has a million dollar bounty on her head."

"Is she that bad?" You blink.

"In this war alone she's already killed a witch and permanently maimed another." West narrows his eyes. "I suggest you avoid her at all costs. I've already filled in your witches about her, so they should know what to do."

"Got it." You nod.

You hustle over the back of the plane. The witches are already loaded into their strikers and ready to go. However, the infantry would be going out first, so that the witches could conserve as much magic as they could.

"You ready?!" Lex yells as the cargo ramp slowly begins to open, exposing you to the cold air outside.

Fuck it. You had to jump out anyways. Might as well go first.

"See you after the drop." You say before leaping out.

One thing you had forgotten about since your last HALO jump was that up this high, the air was freaking COLD. Even with all the protective layers you were wearing, you could feel the chill prickling against your skin. You feel a bit bad for the witches, who largely had to rely on their shields to keep warm.

The night is pitch black. Not even the Moon is out to illuminate your way. Fortunately, the C-130 also dropped a series of low light flares you could see with your nightvision. You had studied the satellite images so you know of three potential landing spots you could take.

>Edge of the forest. It's far from the base, but affords the safest landing spot.

You steer for the edge of the forest. It was far enough away from the base that you were sure Russian patrols wouldn't be out there. Checking your altimeter, you see that you've finally reached your target altitude and deploy your chute, lurching as your free fall is suddenly interrupted. You try to crane your head to look behind you and you see chutes deploying, but you can't tell who is who.

You manage to land with no problem, though you stumble a bit before regaining control. A few meters away, Red and the Deltas touch down with little incident. Overhead, you can see the blinking lights of your friendly strikers, visible only to your nightvision.

"Everybody here?" Lex asks.

"Yeah." You nod as you check up on Red. "What's our plan of entry?"

"Well, we have Plan A, which is to cut through the forest." Lex says. "But, who knows what we'll find in there. Plan B is to follow the river that goes behind the base. It leads to a drainage system we can use to sneak in."

"Or, we can do it the Spectre way." Beagle suggest.

"The Spectre way?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Yeah, remember all that recon footage we pored over? There's a regular motor patrol that goes along this road here a few kilometers away, and there's a checkpoint about a kilometer or two up the road from there. If we take the checkpoint..."

"...then we can hijack a ride and just waltz into their base." Mitch finishes.

"Sounds crazy enough to work." Kilroy nods.

"Are they always like this?" You blink.

"Yep." Lex sighs. "Surprisingly enough, the Spectre way is surprisingly effective. Sometimes."

"I'm sure." Red rolls her eyes.

"Remember, we only have about eight hours until dawn, where we'll lose the cover of darkness." Janice reminds everybody over the radio. "Best be sure to manage your time accordingly, okay?"

"Let's hitch a ride." You say. "We'll get there faster, and they probably won't be expecting it."

"Yes! Let's do this!" Beagle says enthusiastically.

"I call shotgun!" Kilroy says.

"Get it together, you two." Lex hisses. "Let's move!"

Your small squad slowly makes its way toward the checkpoint, wary of any possible Russian patrols. However, between your watchful eyes and the three witches flying overhead, you don't see any sort of threat. Eventually, you see light up ahead, and sure enough, it's a checkpoint. You see four guards standing idly around a roadblock, obviously bored. Lex slowly draws his sidearm and begins screwing a suppressor onto the barrel. His squadmates begin doing the same before taking aim.

"You guys got your targets?" He whispers.

"I got left." Beagle whispers.

"I got right." Kilroy says.

"I got center right." Mitch whispers.

You hear a series of loud clicks as the pistols go off and the four guards go down in puffs of blood.

"Okay, go!" Lex hisses. "Clear them out! Pierce, Red, you stay in cover. We'll man the checkpoint."

You nod and you and Red back up into the brush while Lex and his men clean up the scene.

"I see headlights." Tarin warns. "Looks like a jeep."

"No, wait, there's three vehicles." Janice warns. "About a dozen infantry total."

"Shit, that's not part of the plan." Beagle seethes.

Well, you could always let them pass, but then who knew when another vehicle would come by...

"I think we should just let them pass." You whisper in your radio. "We can't afford to start a full blown firefight right now."

"Got it." Lex nods.

At this point, the small convoy finally reaches the checkpoint and comes to a stop. Lex walks forward and starts talking in Russian with the lead car. The driver and passenger both flash IDs, and Lex pretends to examine them closely before waving them through. Smooth as silk.

"It looks like we're just going to have to continue on foot." You sigh. There was no guarantee of another vehicle coming along anytime soon, and you were on a tight schedule.

"Alright team, let's move!" Lex says, packing up his gear.

It's a long trek through the forest, but fortunately, you don't come across any patrols. Unfortunately, it takes at least one or two hours to get into position, burning a lot of time. However, you're finally within sight of the base.

"Captain, we'll hold position back here, to reduce chances of being spotted. However, we can provide some ranged fire support if you need it." Janice says.

"Thanks." You nod and turn back to the base. It was small, but imposing looking. It was essentially a series of thick, concrete bunkers surrounded by a chain link fence on the perimeter. Several defensive bunkers and towers were scattered at various points along the perimeter, and you could see small groups of armed men aggressive patrolling around the base.

"Well, this is where things get interesting." Lex says. "We need to find our way in."

"Let's sneak in through the utility tunnels." You suggest.

"I was thinking the same thing." Lex nods.

It takes you roughly another fifteen minutes to circle around the facility. There, you see your target. The mouth of a large ventilation shaft, covered by a steel grate locked with a padlock. Normally, something like this would be no problem to get through. Just a simple application of some bolt cutters and you would be in, if not for the fact that there were two guards standing near the shaft.

You had a few options here.

You decide not to waste any time. Sure, killing these guys would mean that they would eventually be missed, but you were pretty sure that once anybody noticed you'd all be long gone.

Two quick shots from suppressed pistols bring the guards down quickly and quietly. You then notice a third guard walk around the corner, and you're about to yell a warning when you hear a wooshing sound and the guard topples to the ground, an arrow jutting out of his chest.

"Thanks for the assist, Tarin."

"Just doing my job, sir."

"Okay, let's crack this thing open." Lex waves Mitch forward, who snaps the padlock off with his bolt cutters.

Thankfully, the utility tunnels themselves don't appear to be guarded. You all pause briefly at an intersection for a quick break.

"Okay, if I'm remembering this right, this path," Lex points to the route to your right. "leads to the main lab complex. That's where we'll find Sokolov. This other path should lead to the comm and radar center."

"Seems about right." Kilroy nods.

"Okay, so here's how we do it." Lex says. "Beagle, Kilroy, and Mitch will split off and take out the comm and radar stations. Me, Pierce, and Red will infiltrate the lab and secure Sokolov. We'll use the distraction Beagle, Kilroy and Mitch will cause to extract Sokolov."

"Can we be called Tango Team?" Beagle asks.

"No." Lex says firmly and flatly. "You guys are Bravo and we're Alpha. Got it?"

"Roger, sir." Beagle sighs.

"Good." Lex nods to Bravo Team and they quietly split off from your group. Lex leads the way as you and Red follow close behind. Finally, you see what looks to be a utility door. Lex opens it a crack and peeks out before shutting it closed.

"Okay, it looks like this is the place." Lex whispers. "There's two ways we can go about this. We can go in first and try to find Sokolov, but there's no guarantee we'll be able to synch our extraction with Bravo's distraction. Or, we wait here for Bravo to create the distraction, swoop in, and snatch Sokolov in the confusion."

"I think we should wait for the fireworks." You say. "People would question us less if they see guards walking around in the labs in an emergency."

"Good idea." Lex nods and keys his radio. "Bravo, how are things going?"

"Comms and radar are set to blow." Beagle announces. "Ready to tango some tangos."

"Ugh." Lex rolls his eyes. "Do it."

"Better hold on your butts!" Kilroy says.

Suddenly, the ground quakes and rumbles as explosions ripple through the facility. Immediately, you can hear alarms and screaming as the base personnel try to ascertain what's going on.

"Let's go!" Lex opens the utility door and steps in. "Stay close to me!"

Inside the lab is an absolute mess. THe blast apparently knocked out the main power, so scientists and office workers and personnel were fleeing, screaming, and stumbling in the darkness. You try to pick out Sokolov's face, but the scene is just too chaotic.

"We'll never find him in this shit!" You yell. "We need a plan!"

"Intel says he works in the lowest level of the lab!" Lex points to the stairs. "If we go down we're sure to find him!"

"Bravo, regroup at the main lab building and try to secure the exit. Let us know if you see the HVT trying to leave." Lex says. and turns to. "Let's go!"

Fortunately, pushing your way through the panicked crowd is easier than you thought. Apparently, nobody wanted to get in the way of three very motivated looking Spetsnaz soldiers in the midst of an emergency, especially with the lead one screaming at them to get the fuck out of the way.

The lower levels were far different from what you've seen up top. Down here, you can make out in the darkness murky silhouettes of strikers of various kinds, along with equipment and weaponry that you don't readily recognize. This was probably any intel agent or scientist's wet dream, but that wasn't what you were here for. You needed to find Sokolov.

"Okay, we should search this floor thoroughly." Lex says.

"Yeah, call out for him. In Russian." You say.

"Sure thing." Lex turns to the darkness. <Dr. Sokolov! It's dangerous down here! We've been sent by a mutual friend to help you!>

"D-do you know this mutual friend?" You hear a small, tiny voice squeak from the darkness, in slightly accented English.

"I believe Sirius informed us of your plight?" Lex responds.

Suddenly, a small and very mousy man in a lab coat emerges from the darkness, looking in all directions nervously.

"Y-you are the Americans Sirius said would help me, r-right?"

"That's right." You nod. "We're here to get you out of Russia."

"Good, good!" Sokolov hugs you. "You, you do no understand what a relief that is!"

"Yeah, well, we're not out of the woods yet." Lex grumbles. "We'll get you out of here. Hopefully our disguises will hold up."

"No, they would have locked the base down by now. Anybody caught trying to leave would immediately be put under suspicion." Sokolov shakes his head. "But... I might have a method. It's not very subtle, but it should work..."

"Well, out with it." Lex says.

"There is a tank." Sokolov says. "An old T-80 that we use as testbed for our equipment. It's not guarded. Plus, I arranged with the technicians to have fueled and armed with live ammunition."

You see a glint in Lex's eye. You knew that glint. It was the kind that every self-respecting man instinctively understood.

"Did you say tank?" Lex asked, as if to confirm.

"Yes." Sokolov nods. "We've been working on it for the past few years. It's one of the few things security has not kept a very close eye on."

"Alpha, this is Bravo. What's the sitrep?"

"Bravo, rendezvous with us at..." Lex glances at Sokolov.

"Warehouse 2. On the east side of the base."

"...Warehouse 2. East end of the base." Lex says.

"Roger that. We'll be waiting."

"Okay, Doctor, since this is your base, lead the way." Lex says.

Getting out of the lab building is relatively easy, as nobody questions seeing the head scientist being escorted out by several personal guards. In the distance, you can see a huge firestorm lighting up the sky, no doubt the remains of the communication and radar centers. It's a simple matter to slink off into the darkness of the intact areas of the base, which have been literally abandoned in the face of the current crisis. This sort of leaves you in this brief, awkward moment of silence as you carefully make your way between the buildings to reach your objective.

"So, Dr. Sokolov, what exactly have you been working on here?" You whisper. Even though it probably wouldn't affect anything, you're sure that just talking about something would help keep him calm.

"Ah, well." Sokolov corrects his glasses. "Mostly, we just develop striker equivalents for all of Russia's next generation vehicles. But, for the past few years, we've been pursuing an alternate line of development."

"What exactly is this 'alternate line?'"

"You see, there are some men who think strikers have already reached the peak of their development. They're a dead end. Obsolete. Some of my colleagues, like Granin, refuse to believe this .But I, on the other hand..." Sokolov sighs, "I suddenly was hit by an idea. It was so simple, yet nobody had ever thought about it. Was derive our strikers from existing vehicles, but what if we modified our existing vehicles to accommodate witches?"

"Holy crap, you sound like my parents." Red mutters.

"Huh?" Sokolov blinks. "A girl?"

"Her name's Red." You say. "She's actually a witch."

"Ah, a pleasure to meet you." Sokolov does a small, polite bow.

"What, no comment why I'm wearing pants?" Red asks.

"No, why?" Sokolov blinks, a bit confused.

"Uhh... nothing." Red shakes her head.

Finally, you reach Warehouse 2. Bravo is already there, standing guard in front of it like they were totally supposed to be there.

"This the guy?" Beagle asks.

"Yep. We just need to get out of here." Lex says. "What's the ETA on the airstrike?"

"Five minutes." Beagle responds.

"Get on the horn and warn them not to hit the T-80 with the IR beacon on it. I'd rather we not get killed by friendly fire."

"Got it, sir." Beagle nods.

"Obviously." Lex rolls his eyes. We'll have to stay split up in two teams. One team takes the tank and the other team slips out while the tank draws everybody's attention."

"Okay, so what do we do about the HVT?" Mitch asks.

"You will need me as part of the crew." Sokolov says. "I know how the vehicle's 'extra' systems work."

"Honestly, it's probably safer in there than anywhere else." Beagle shrugs.

"Okay, Alpha will take the tank with Sokolov, Bravo will slip out once the airstrikes start hitting." Lex declares.

"We should hurry." Sokolov hits the switch to open the Warehouse door.

Inside, you can see a T-80 tank in all its glory. However, it looks much bulkier and blockier than what you usually see.

"This particular T-80 has additional ERA as well as ATGM countermeasure systems." Sokolov explains. "It also has a built in focus and magic interface."

"Whoa, wait, what?" Red blinks.

"Yes, that's what we were testing with this tank. The possibility of integrating magical components with conventional equipment. With the interface, this T-80 can utilize magical foci to produce a shield or enhance its performance."

"Wow." Lex whistles.

"Hurry, we must get in." Sokolov says.

Inside, it's a bit cramped. Lex slips into the drivers' seat while Sokolov takes a seat next t him. You take the gunner/commander seat while Red squeezes into the back.

"Red, if you are a witch, I suggest you use the interface." Sokolov says. "Even if you're not tuned to it, if we can use even a fraction of this tank's potential it would help us greatly."

Red seems to look at you for guidance.

"Red, are you up for this?" You ask.

"Y-yeah." Red nods. "I'll do my best."

"Trust me, this system is very safe." Sokolov tries to assure you. "It has been tested and calibrated countless times."

"Oh god, I have to take my pants off for this, don't I?" Red gulps.

"Well, they were designed to work in similar fashion to strikers, so yes." Sokolov nods.

You all sort of stare blankly at Red.

"What, are you looking at, you pervs!" Red cries, her face blushing.

Immediately, you, Sokolov, and Lex whip around and suddenly find something else to occupy your attention. You look down at Lex checking the controls.

"You can drive one of these things?"

"Yeah, well, in this line of work you can learn a lot of diverse skills." He grins.

"O-okay." Red signs as she slips her bare legs into the interface. "How is this?"

Suddenly, you can hear and feel a deep humming, as if something besides the engine in the tank had just activated. It sounded and felt like standing next to a working striker.

"Ah yes, the foci are powered." Sokolov looks at a small screen on his console. "Shields only at 30%, though that's not bad considering this is your first time using this system."

"Oh man, I feel nauseous." Red groans. "And everything suddenly tastes like walnuts."

"You're doing great, Red." You assure her.

"SOKOLOV!" A loud voice booms through the warehouse. All of you look up to see a massively large man standing at the door, wearing a GRU Colonel uniform.

"It's V-Volgin!" Sokolov shrieks. "He's found us out!"

"You've been very naughty, Sokolov." Volgin tuts. "Now step out of that tank before I do something we both will regret!"

"Lex get us the fuck outta here!" You scream.

"Bravo, get on! WE ARE LEAVING!" Lex yells.

You pop out of the hatch to get a better look. Behind you, Bravo team scrambles onto the back of the tank. Lex then hits the throttle and the T-80 surges forward toward Volgin. To his credit, Volgin doesn't budge until the last second, deftly rolling out of the way as the tank barrels past.

"You missed him!" Beagle shouts.

"You drive, then!" Lex retorts.

"Captain, please don't tell me you're in the T-80 driving like a drunk five year old is behind the wheel." Ghost says over the radio.

"You're damn right it is." You say. "It's safe to say our cover is blown. You girls are weapons free!"

"Affirmative." Tarin says.

"We'll give you the cover you need!" Janice says sweetly.

Suddenly, magically enhanced gunfire rips through compound, tearing AA emplacements, bunkers, and guard towers to pieces. The guards, now further confused, don't even bother to look at the T-80 barreling out of the base as they start shooting wildly in all directions in an attempt to find the threat.

Suddenly, the base is rocked by an explosion, and then another, and soon there's a series of explosions rocking the base.

"Janice, what sort of firepower are you packing?!" You yell.

"It's not us." Janice says. "It looks like that support West promised us is here."

You squint at the sky, but you can't really see anything. You think you can make out vaguely triangular shapes circling about in the sky, but you're not too sure. Maybe it's those super top secret stealth fighters the Air Force was operating? It would make sense, considering how far behind the lines you were.

"Raker, confirm T-80 is a friendly?" You hear an unfamiliar voice over the radio.

"That's right, the T-80 has been commandeered by friendlies. Please try not to bombard it." Janice responds.

"Roger."

"Captain! Hey, Captain! Do you hear me?"

"Bullseye?" You blink. "Is that you?"

"Damn right it is! We've been flying low and fast every since we got word their radar was down. We'll be at the LZ in about thirty minutes to extract you!"

"I see you then, Bulleye!" You grin. Maybe, just maybe you were going to get out of this.

That is, until the copse of trees in front of you just literally DISAPPEARS.

Like, literally, the trees were there one moment and gone the next.

"What the fuck was that?!" Lex yells.

"I think there's something behind us!" Beagle screams. "It's big.. .and fast!"

"Bravo, dismount and get into the trees. It's too dangerous for you guys to hang onto the tank like this!" You yell.

"We'll meet you at the LZ, then!" Beagle says. "Good luck!"

With that, Bravo leaps off the tank and disappears into the trees, leaving you to fight your unseen enemy alone.

"Pierce, do you have a visual?" Lex asks.

"Oh dear, I hope it's not what I think it is." Sokolov mutters.

"What are you talking about?"

"It's... it's not supposed to be operational. We never finished properly calibrating the interface for the new chassis. It would be too dangerous to use right now.."

"DOCTOR!" You yell to get his attention.

"I think... I think Volgin might have deployed the Shagohod..." Sokolov squeaks.

"What's the Shagohod?" You ask.

Suddenly, the trees behind you part to reveal and terrifying looking tank that you had never seen before.

"That." Sokolov says weakly.

>And that's it for tonight! Tun in next Friday to see how this mission concludes! And for those that are interested, Cyberpunk Idols is this Saturday night!
