You yawn slowly, as you hear the sound of metal grating loudly. As wakefulness arrives, you observe the room around you. Metal walls all around, with a faint electrical buzz that you know indicates the sound of the energy barrier surrounding this whole facility. This place is as secure from human and pokemon escape as could possibly be. The bars in front of you make it clear what your position in this is supposed to be, and although you know that the bars themselves aren't proof against you, experience has taught you that the rest of the facility is not so easily evaded.

The sound of metal halts, and you towards the outer door to your cell. In walks...

> A stark-faced scientist. You know this one-he is one of the ones responsible for experimenting on you.
> A man in a suit and sunglasses. He seems to be in something of a hurry.
> ...A human Hobo? Standing in front of you is a grizzled man, swaying gently with a glazed look in his eyes.

"Hello there, little pokemon. You've got a big day ahead of you."

"Hmm. The files mentioned an infiltrator type, but I wasn't actually expecting there'd be something like you in here. Doesn't matter."

The man moves to a side panel close by the door and does something that you can't quite make out. The door to your cell slides open, and you immediately spring out through the open door, ready to attack him. He waves a finger at you, before pulling out what looks like a weapon of some kind.

"Uh-uh-uh! You wouldn't like the consequences of attacking me. Besides, there are better things to be spending energy on. After all, we have the same enemy."

You stare at confusedly, trying to decipher his meaning, when a loud alarm suddenly starts blaring from somewhere deeper inside the facility.
Behind the man's sunglasses, you can see him flinch.
"Damn. Thought I'd have more time. Look, I need your help. Neither of us wants to be in here right now, and if you work with me, I'm sure we can both escape in one piece. Your abilities are the perfect thing we need to take down the main security mainframe."

You pause for a moment, unsure, when he continues.

"C'mon, help me out here little:

>Gardevoir."

Your eyes remain warily on him, but you realise that you cannot waste this opportunity to escape.
"What would you have me do? If you've read my file, you should realise they have blocked my offensive psychic capability," you project.
The man flinches, whether unused to hearing inaudible voices or simply at the reminder at that an otherwise powerful psychic was poking around in his head.

"Look, I just need you to help me trick my way into the secure mainframe. I know they've been using you to perform experiments on psychic filtering. Is there any chance you could use your abilities to make the guard think you have a right to be there?"

You pause, considering.

>"Yes, I think I might be able to do something like that.
>"No, sorry. Might there be some other way?"
>Screw it. You don't owe this human anything. Leave him to escape on his own. Maybe they'll find him, and in the confusion, not realise you've escaped until it's too late.

>>
>>29268785
I wouldn't rely on canon as a perfect measure for this Gardevoir anyway.

The man grins.

"Excellent. Follow me, I'll brief you on the way."

He runs to the door and gestures at you to hurry. You scoff at his reckless hurry, but drift swiftly after him anyway. As you enter the main hallway, you take the opportunity to look around. Normally they keep you sedated when moving you, so this is your first opportunity to see it. It is surprisingly empty, and you can't help thinking it would be much nicer without the blaring alarm in the background. You finally catch up with the sunglass-wearing man...
"Hey, you. What's your name?"
The man nearly trips at your question and glances back at you.
"Uh, Mick. No, um, Agent Lewis. Can you forget I said that first part?"

Your confidence in this man is rapidly falling.
"This plan of yours. What was it?"
Agent Lewis looks at you for a moment before reaching into a pocket and pulling out a passcard with a woman's picture on it.
"This is Mia Sculters. She's one of the techs here, though she isn't going to be missing her card any time soon. If you can use whatever that psychic 'filtering' ability of yours is to get past the guard, you can use this keycard to access the main computer systems and shut down the secuirty surrounding the exit. After that, we just-"

Whatever else he was about to say is cut off by a fist striking him right in the face. Another human wearing a similar suit is attacking him, though the other man has not yet noticed you.

You swiftly take the keycard, ensuring that it will not be lost in the ensuing scuffle. Agent Lewis certainly can't complain about you keeping such a vital component of your escape safe, right?

...Not that he'd be able to complain much if you went on ahead and fulfilled your part in the plan anyway, right? He can totally handle himse-

You watch as Agent Lewis skids back across the floor, before jumping back into the fray with a wild haymaker.

...Well, he'll probably be fine. Mostly. And if he is, he'll definitely appreciate you getting the security shut down! In the mean time, he can keep this guy busy.

Pausing briefly, you focus your psychic abilities and subtly boost Agent Lewis' healing abilities. Perhaps it won't do much, but at least he won't drop straight away. You swiftly edge around the melee and hurry towards where you think the security mainframe is. It would be awfully troublesome to get lost here, with a potential hostile behind you and no real familiarity with the area, but fortunately Agent Lewis' mind provided you with a rough mental image of the target.

You turn down the appropriate hallway and see your target-with a burly man in yet another suit standing next to it. Wonderful, a guard. This must be what Lewis was talking about.

You breathe in, focus, and then walk towards the door. The guard doesn't react as you walk past him, though his arms reaches out to halt you as you touch the door handle.
"Wait, um...do you have authorisation to enter here?"
A pulse of panic shoots through you, and in a moment of inspiration, you focus on the image of the woman in the picture.
"Oh! Mia! Sorry, I was having a mental blank there. Go right on ahead. Do you know what this alert is about?"

You shake your head, and focus on making sure that the mental image of 'Mia' matches up perfectly with your own movements, though there is an awkward moment when you have to levitate up in order to reach the keycard slot above head-height.

"Man, they really weren't too considerate of shorter people when they made that set-up. Chat to you later Miss Sculters!"

You sigh as you finally shut the door behind you, relieved at no longer having to keep up the pretence. Oddly though, it seemed to be getting easier the longer you held it up.

You find the main computer and look through the most obvious areas. Immediately, a few key controls catch your eyes.

You flick through a variety of different camera feeds. Most of them are of empty hallways or gatherings of humans wearing suits and labcoats, but a few catch your interest.
One seems to be a large gathering of armed guards, in a corridor with a glowing forcefield blocking off a door. It seems like they're expecting trouble.
You flip a few more times and come across an odd sight-more pokemon kept imprisoned, though not of the same species. It's hard to determine just how many there are, but each of them looks just as unhappy as you were. In most cases there are both metal bars and energy forcefields blocking the exits.
You click away from the camera viewing controls, and search for further controls. You find a three options:

-Deactivate all security manually. This will unlock all doors and forcefields, but as it can only be turned off from here, all the guards will know to find the culprit here.
-Shut down the power for the whole facility. Emergency protocols will automatically power off the lights and forcefields allowing you to easily slip past the guards, but many pokemon will not be able to slip past their cages.
-Activate the fire alarms. This should open all doors, and forcefields, but may also cause all humans that were previously holed up because of the security alert to leave the building. You may be able to slip out with them though...

You activate the Fire Alarms, and the irritating blare of the Security Alarms is suddenly switched out for the much louder sound of a high-pitched ringing bell. Squelching your irritation, you finish up with the computer room, and step out into a hallway filled with noise and mistily-spraying water. The security guard turns to and grabs your hand.
"Come on! We need to hurry out of here. I do not want to be in here if the higher-ups decide that whatever is going on is bad enough that the fail-safes have to be activated."
He begins pulling you down a corridor, but is so pre-occupied by all that is going on that he fails to notice a Ghastly come flying out of the wall and smack into the side of his head. He knocks his head against the side of the wall and drops to the ground, before the Ghastly turns it's gaze on you. You back away from it swiftly, though your psychic abilities are sufficient to calm it.

(1/2)
>>
>>29272290
Taking yet another deep breathe to calm yourself, you try to get a rough idea of what is going. Reaching out with your mind, you can detect a large number of minds in varying states of panic, all rushing about and most converging on a single point a few hallways ahead of you. Notably you can detect:

-a single, vaguely conscious mind back in the direction of Agent Lewis' fight.
-the mind of a single pokemon flickering in fear and panic in a nearby hallway. You can get to it quickly, but your path would intersect with a group of humans along the way.
-Far away, you can detect a mental voice that screams of pain and terror, though you cannot tell if it is human or pokemon.

You have sufficient ability that you think you may be able to help two different beings escape. (Choose two to help escape:)

You hurriedly begin moving towards the two anguished voices, and you soon realise the Ghastly appears to be following you. The noise of approaching mental 'voices' warns you just in time to make it hide on the far side of a wall.

You see a group of scientists heading your way and you focus on trying to make them ignore you.
"Hey, Mia! You certainly look like you're having a bad day. You do realise you're heading the wrong way to the exit, right?"

What? You weren't even trying to focus on the 'Mia' part. Weird.

You shake your head. "I know, but I left some important stuff behind, and I don't want it to get caught in the fire."

One of them, a blonde woman, just shakes her head and laughs. "Why am I not surprised? We'll let the guards know you'll be along soon. Just watch out, there are pokemon running around the halls. Ralph is still in a daze from running into a screeching one earlier."

Your thoughts run to the scared pokemon you can sense nearby, and you immediately nod your thanks to the humans and rush past. As you dash down another hallway, you are rejoined by the Ghastly, and you soon encounter the scared pokemon. There is a a Zubat flying around and running into walls repeatedly. It seems that the loud alarms are ruining it's ability to navigate, which would cause you to feel pity for it IF ONLY IT WEREN'T SO LOUD AND ANNOYING.

You bend down and scoop up the small pokemon, comforting it with your mind which has the additional benefit of getting it to shut up. Beside you, the Ghastly rolls it's eyes.

>69 + Doubles..ish?

You pelt down through the hallways, using your psychic advantages to avoid running into anyone. You follow the slowly diminishing cry of pain to one of the holding cells; Zubat held in your arms and Ghastly floating along behind. You step in the door, only to find a small charmander on the floor, wrapped around it's tail. It seems it had just managed to make it out of it's cell, just as the sprinkler system kicked in. Its' tail is close to burnt out.

Acting decisively, you plonk Zubat on top of your head and grab the Charmander up in your arms. The little lizard-ish creature snuggles up in your arms, though your new headwear screeches a bit at the damp.

You and your trio of fellow pokemon make your way towards the exit. As you go, you can see that the hallways are much emptier, though you occasionally see something like a Spearow fluttering about in the halls. When you are roughly halfway there, something flickers in your mental awareness, and you only belatedly realise it is another Psychic-type, blocking it's presence. This realisation comes too late as you try in vain to warn Ghastly about the threat..

Since the doubles thing was in addition to what I had already had planned, I'll offer you all some measure of choice. Do you want:

>Wow, these votes have been absurdly neck and neck. I was sort of writing around the topic in hopes of getting a clear winner, but was a bit slow in coming. Still, it looks like we have a winner, so can I get a d100 roll whilst I'm at it?

>>29273786
Yeah, I write a lot slower than I'd like. I'm a natural overthinker, and it turns out writing a whole quest takes up a LOT of mental stamina.

89-Very Good.
>This realisation comes too late as you try in vain to warn Ghastly about the threat..

You let out a mental yell to Ghastly, and you hear it scream in pain as you spin around. You lock your eyes onto Ghastly's position only to see it being attacked by...nothing?

...No, you can tell there is something there. Not only is Ghastly dodging and screeching in pain, but you can feel a psychic presence that feels unfamiliar and yet...nostalgic. There appears to be some sort of psychic influence in the air, similar to your filtering technique, but different. With a push, you force it away, and a Gallade suddenly pops into view. The formerly-invisble pokemon turns to you and frowns.

"Why are you interrupting my assault on the forces of unrighteousness? I am GALLA-GAR, the Mighty Warrior of Justice!"

....Is that...Did this Gallade just make a sentai pose, like in those terrible shows the scientists around here used to try to get you to watch? Man, they must have really done a number on him.

You project a mixture of conversation and calm emotions to the Gallade....and the Ghastly, who seems rather riled up.
"Be at peace. The two of you are not enemies. We are all prisoners of this place, and must work together if we are to succeed. Am I understood?"
The two of them stare at each other and then for a moment, before slowly nodding. You hold back a sigh as you try to avoid feeling like a mother leading a group of children around. The snort of the little Charmander snuggled up in your arms reminds you that this is pretty much the case.

In any case, your tri...quat...pentuplet of pokemon now hurry towards the exit to this place. Finally. As though mocking your irritation, the sprinklers finally shut off, though something in you wonders if this might not be a bad sign.
You detect a small group of minds at the exit-just three guards to get past, and you have the advantage of suprise. At your signal, Ghastly and Galla-G....uh, Gallade, both make themselves unseen.

How do you wish to play this?
>Use your disguise to sneak yourself, and the two smaller pokemon past?
>Attack the three guards?

>Use your disguise to sneak yourself, and the two smaller pokemon past?
Get Zubat to play dead. Act like we're getting them outside for treatment.
>>
>>29274283
Use disguise to look like guards relocating the smaller pokemon. Say that the holding cells are compromised and you're rendevouzing(?) to a classified location.
>>
>>29274283
They informed the guards that we would be coming. Lets hope it's not a trap

maybe have the zubat rest on the charmander, since most humans probably don't get them to roost on their heads.

>Use your disguise to sneak yourself, and the two smaller pokemon past?

Out of curiosity, what were you originaly planning (option C) and what would have happened if we had picked option B?
>>
>>29274283
>Disguise.

You layer on your 'Mia' disguise, and place Zubat on top of Charmander, which is much easier now that you no longer have to keep it close to your body to protect it from water.

The guards eye you as you approach them. "You've been in here a while. Did you actually stop to pick up a couple of dumb pokemon in the middle of an emergency? Including a fire pokemon?"

'Mia' gives an imperious sniff.
"These pokemon are valuable experimental specimens. I refuse to give up sources of valuable data."

The first guard stares at you, then glances at one of the other guards. Their eyes meet, and for a brief moment, the exact same thought passes through their heads.

'Pffft. Scientists.'

Nervously, you stroll past them, and head for the exit. Ghastly cannot be seen, and you can feel the mental presence of Gallade, as he performs a graceful loop over the heads of the guards, landing perfectly.

On a puddle.

One guard turns around and stares at the air.
"Did you hear something?"

>Roll d100s again. DC to beat is 60.

Option C was originally going to be Beldum flying in at high speed and smacking us in the face. B was a male Gothorita, with the personality of a moody teenager.

I do like Beldum, but I'm fine with skipping the angst. That is only good if it comes with snark and I have a feeling Gastly already has a fun attitude.

HA. We should give Gallade some shit afterwards for covering for him.

You turn to look at the guard.
"I heard a lot of things. That stupid alarm. The sound of me stepping in all these stupid puddles everywhere. The mutterings of a group of guards who apparently couldn't stop some random intruder from setting fire to the labs. Did you mean anything in _specific_?"

The beleaguered guard opens and closes his mouth like a Magikarp before looking away.
"No, I...nevermind."

"Good then."
With a sweeping nod, you continue on, walking past the deactivated security forcefield, through a reception area and pause in front of the front door.

The outside world. You haven't seen it since you were a Ralts. You can barely tamp down your nervousness. You feel a dark presence at your side. You turn just in time to feel Gastly give you an encouraging lick on the cheek.

...Well, you think it's meant to be encouraging.

You step forwards, and out into the sunlight.

>END THREAD #1.
Arrg! I've been spelling 'Gastly' wrong all thread! Stupid correct knowledge of the English language!

It was a good ride. When are you planning on running next?

You must assume every pokemon name is a pun.

Phew. That was fun. I never guessed just how tiring running a quest could be. I have a lot more sympathy now for those QMs who fall asleep at their keyboards.

What did people think? Fun Quest? Since this was my first time, I'm kinda curious to hear some feedback on how this went.

Also, does anyone want to volunteer to Archive this? I'm loosely aware of the mechanism, but kinda blanking on the specifics right now.
>>
>>29274819
Not too terrible. Looking forward to Gallade shenanigans.
Also, if you plan to make this a regular thing, you might want to get a twitter for updates and stuff.

>>

I'm pretty sure Ghastly is going to be lifting our skin skirt thing up a few times during this quest if he sticks around. I'm looking forward to those shenanigans.
>>
Whoever archived this, you left the QM's name out of the tags. Good fucking job.
>>
>>29274879
you do realize a great deal of quests don't include the QM right? besides InfiltratorQM isn't exactly hard to associate with Infiltrator Quest with.
>>
Im pretty sure I did an even worst thing. I misspelled Gardevoir
>>
>>29274808
I have absolutely no idea. I kinda made this up on the spur of the moment after some discussion during on the umpty-dozen other Pokemon Quests running today (I swear, I had no idea AoPH quest was going to be running until after I started), and although I do have a grand goal in mind for the direction of the quest, working out how I'm gonna get there is going to take some work.
As today has shown, not having everything planned out in advance means slower updates as I figure out a number of details as I go. That's something I'd like to improve on in future, which basically means doing my homework before each quest.

Yayifications.
>>
>>29274919
It's not that hard. Just set a goal and like 9001 checkpoints in between and you should be fine.
>>
>>29274819
I look forward to more. I also like that you take initiative with the PC's dialogue; one of my peeves is when the QM just pastes a series of quotes from the players without proper cohesion. (not that the situation where that typically occurs [Q&A time with an NPC] happened here)

So, why did they have Gardevoir watch the sentai show? Gallade makes sense, but you'd think they'd want to the empath pokemon to watch like... I dunno, talk shows or self help gurus.
>>
>>29275048
there is only one logical explanation.

It was for science
>>
>>29275048
They're scientists, dude. They probably just wanted the cute female pokemon to share their interests because the human women never would.
>>
>>29275048
They made Gardevoir watch Sentai shows /before/ it evolved. Gallade was into the Sentai, and ended up being chosen for use with the Dawn stone.

With the way Gardevoir's personality turned out, I suspect she ended up watching a lot of Daria.
