You are Bartolomè de la Fuente, an ordained priest of the Catholic Church, though you are still young. Following the disappearance of your father, Hidalgo, you were recruited by a woman named Catarina Belmont to take his place within a secret branch of the Church, the Executors, and serve as a weapon to destroy those who would besmirch the name of your Lord.

With the help of the Enforcer Wayne Tepes you have infiltrated the lair of Klaus Hind, struggling through his myriad of illusions. But now you stand before the vampire himself, and he is unfazed by your arrival. You have blundered straight into his Reality Marble...

Klaus Hind's voice echoes off the high ceiling. His gentlemanly voice is oozing scorn and satisfaction. You see him standing by his throne, but his voice is coming from behind you, uncomfortably close to your ear. This room, mocked up like some royal hall, is unnatural. You don't understand what Klaus Hind told you when he called it a "Reality Marble," but the threat is no less apparent for that. The chill in the air is palpable, the sensation on your skin like you have wandered into a world that is not your own. You wish to flee, but you aren't sure where you would run. Even if you made a beeline for the door, would you end up there?

Wayne is in no position to help you work out a strategy. Not far from you, or perhaps a great distance, he is on his knees, choking and clawing at a barbed leather whip wrapped tightly around his throat. Mikhaela, a second vampire, is tending the whip, stroking its base as the tendril pulsates. Its fleshy barbs are making nauseating sounds as they nibble bites from the mage's flesh. This has gone all wrong.

"Mm, what is the matter, young priest?" asks Klaus. You see his cultured face is disheveled by a wicked smile, the creases by his lips demonstrating the glee at watching you squirm. His fingers eagerly dance upon the length of his sword. "Could it be that you're having some feelings of empathy? That for the first time you understand what it's like to be on the other side? To be the persecuted, the helpless wretch kneeling before the might of their 'holy' judge?"

Even as he tries to keep his cool, Klaus is too giddy not to let hatred color his words. This seems personal to him. But at least he doesn't seem to be in a mood to fight. You have a chance to get information out of him. But your eyes drift to Wayne and watch as he desperately pulls against the choking whip. Every second you spend talking to Klaus is a second he spends suffocating.

You flick out a Black Key from your sleeve, holding it beside your head in a cautious stance. This "Reality Marble" is so alien to you, you aren't sure if you'd just end up hitting yourself if you threw this knife. But perhaps if you just let instinct guide you? You give Klaus a contemptuous look. "I am no judge, wicked beast. There is only one such being, and I pray that He will have mercy on your soul."

Hind flinches, wary and on-guard for anything you try. But when you throw the Black Keys, you let your instinct guide it. Your arm goes right, and the Black Key disappears from sight just a foot beyond it. You see it flash by the left side of your head, then catch a glimpse as it passes through two walls at a far corner.

A terrible screech catches your attention. The blade has found purchase, and sank into the small of Mikhaela's back. Her hands both reach behind her back, trying to remove the barb. This was a mistake. Wayne's reaction is quick enough that you'd believe he was in on the plan from the start. Leaping backward, he slams himself into the off-balance vampire. She tumbles backwards, and his hands make some sly motion you can't follow. When they've separated, he's not only free: he's holding the whip. "Good toss!" he says, beaming at you. "Now then..."

Your attention is directed back towards the Dead Apostles. Mikhaela is skulking in the shadows, hissing as she blinks from one pillar to the next, looking for an opening. Klaus' face is of a more subtle rage. Every fold on his face is fully creased in a severe expression as he steps down from the stairs. In only one stride he is at the bottom, his blade resting upon his shoulder.

"Persecutor, murderer, invader, abomination! You break into my home, destroy my property, and harm my Mikhaela! And you call ME the monster... Tell me who sent you, so I will know who to exact my vengeance upon."
>>
>>29297111
Only a second later Wayne whispers to you, his back pressed against yours, "We've only got a second here, Bart. Have you got a plan or are we doing this Old Testament style?"

>PICK ONE SUB-OPTION ON TWO ANY OTHER TWO ACTIONS
>1. Tell Klaus that Catarina Belmont sent you.
>2a. We shall fight them together. Two against two.
>2b. Split up. I will fight Klaus, you take the other.
>2c. Split up. You fight Klaus, I will take the other.
>2d. Let Wayne decide.
>3. We should try and contact backup.
>4. Ask Wayne if he knows anything about Reality Marbles.
>5. Ask Wayne if he knows a way to harm vampires on this level.

"The Lord sent me."

>2c. Split up. You fight Klaus, I will take the other.

He's got ways to deal with illusions, and I don't fancy our chances in close combat with Klaus.

Make sure she gets a Key in her throat if she tries to go for an opening, leave Wayne free to do his thing with Klaus, if we see a good opportunity try an stab her.

>4. Ask Wayne if he knows anything about Reality Marbles.
>5. Ask Wayne if he knows a way to harm vampires on this level.

Backup, even if we call it in now, will be a while in the coming. And between all of the illusions in this place they probably won't get here quickly, even if we can get a signal out of Klaus's underground lair. So start by trying to get information on what we're up against.
>>
>>29297344
Exactly what I would've choose, seconding
>>
>>29297344
You taunt the vampire with an indirect answer. "The Lord sent me." You can see his eye twitch when you tell him; he isn't fond of your mockery, and he starts moving closer, gripping his sword's hilt a little harder. You and Wayne begin to move in a circle, keeping both enemies in sight as you strategize.

Wayne seems to agree with your plan to let him handle Klaus, and says you should just run interference with the other vampire. It's a more viable option than pressing your luck and going for two dead vampires in a single night.

"Anything else?" he asks you. You question him about Reality Marbles, and asks what he knows.

"Ah, it's... kinda fuzzy." He scratches the side of his head with a finger, mulling over the question. "They're... crap, how do I explain this? Think of it like a temporary rewrite of the world around you, based on your inner self. We're not on 'Earth' right now, but Klaus' expression of his innermost being. A little too spiritual-sounding, but that's the gist of it. I guess his is supposed to be some kind of illusion that assault your, uh... sensory thingamajigs and confuse them. You see, smell, and hear things that aren't there."

"But it's an illusion, you said?"

"Mm-hmm. I don't think Klaus knows yet, but I can see just fine in here. Try and keep that a secret, I may need the advantage."

"So what about these two?" you ask next. "Any tips on killing full-fledged vampires?"

"Nope. They regenerate pretty fast, from what I've heard. Almost impossible to kill. But..." His eyes fixate on the white sword of Klaus Hind. "Any weapon suitable for a vampire must be pretty wicked. Maybe use their own weapons against them?"
>>
>>29297906
The two are approaching. There is no time left for chat, and the conversation ends. You both break off and approach your foes. Yours is named Mikhaela, and robbed of her whip, she bares snarling teeth and nasty claws. She skulks between the pillars, popping from point to point in seconds. Your only hint that she's there is her red eyes hovering in the shadows.

You pace down the hall, shadows flanking you as you seek out the vampire. Her wounded snarls seem to come from every direction, and you cannot make out her form in such impenetrable darkness. But you don't let that stop you. You produce a Black Key, one of eight remaining, and kiss its blade for luck. Into the darkness you call, taunting the vampire. "The shadows will not protect you from me, Mikhaela! There is no darkness great enough to snuff His holy light."

"Just go away!" a voice responds. You have her! Spinning on your heel, you let your arm snap and fling the blade into the darkness. There is a squeal of pain; you got her.

Though you cannot see her, Mikhaela is limping behind a pillar, clutching the fresh wound in her belly. She holds back a sob. "We were happy here! Safe! My Klaus and I... and you came, and... and RUINED IT!" A bestial howl comes from the side passages, and stone crumbles. You turn around to find an entire chunk of one of the pillars hurtling through the air. You fall flat on your belly, and it passes over you, crashing into the opposite wall with great force. A panicked breath escapes you. Something like that could have killed you instantly. But Mikhaela is unnerved. You are winning this battle, for the moment.

You can hear the clang of metal upon metal. Wayne is clashing with Klaus Hind. The two rapidly exchange blows, the Enforcer wielding a knife in one hand and Mikhaela's Whip in the other. Several rapid strikes dart at Klaus's throat, but the white blade twirls weightlessly in his hand. He deflects them without even showing effort. "Out of my way, magus. My quarrel is with the inquisitor!"

Wayne wags a finger at him, pairing it with a cheeky smile. "Ah, naughty, naughty! I'm your dance partner tonight, Klaus. And I'll have you know I'm a VERY jealous girl."
>>
>>29299168
The vampire hesitates for a second, before letting his teeth bare. "Oh, I see. Very well, then. I shall dance with you, magus. But I hope you don't find my move too... hot to handle."

As if on cue, the blade of Hind's sword is charred black, flames spewing out from every inch of its surface. Wayne's jaw nearly hits the floor. The blackened blade swings down and strikes the floor, Wayne throwing himself out of its way. He hits the floor with his arm outstretched. The whip cracks and flails around Klaus's leg, eliciting a yelp of pain from the hungry barbs. "Dig in, boys!" yells the magus.

>1. Keep throwing Black Keys until she charges. (d100+26)

No sense trying to reason with them now. A vampire is a creature that sustains itself by the consumption of human life. It is beyond any help you can give. All you can do now is egg her on, and hope the grace of God does not leave you yet. And left you it has not, for your third throw is your most impressive yet. You do not throw your Key into the shadows, but THROUGH the pillar in your way. The Black Key punctures the stone like tissue, and after the chinking of stone is the squelch of gore. You've hit her again, and this time it's a step too far. A banshee-like wail precedes her exit, and you are briefly stunned to see her as she leaps from the shadows. Her body, once passably human, is now mangled. Her stomach is sliced open, her entrails dragging along with her. There is an unnatural, wounded gait that she uses to propel her body. And a Black Key has rammed through the back of her skull, its tip just barely poking out the front. The eyeball it has skewered has been shoved out of its socket, and is twitching rapidly, blood and other fluids spurting from the wound each time. She roars. "GO AWAY!"

Her claws lash out, and as she swings down... she is gone. The illusions are concealing her. You hunker down, and choose to juke left. As you do so, claws rake by, inches from your shoulder, and you spin to dodge. A second slice is aimed downward, at the top of your head. Only by luck do you crouch far enough to avoid decapitation, though you are a few hairs shorter. Mikhaela is above you, trembling as her hand, pierced through stone, keeps her aloft.

>1. Throw a Key at her hand to dislodge her. She'll fall into melee range. (1d100+26)
>2. Throw a Key at her body and drive her further up the wall. (1d100+26)
>3. Say something to Mikhaela.
>4. Do something else.
>>
>>29300355
Wayne scrambles to his feet, breathing rapidly. Klaus glowers at him. "Are you the kind of magus who passes as adequate these days? You're pathetic."

"Hey, I resemble that remark!" Wayne retorts, adjusting his collar. "Besides, I'm not the one with a leg getting mulched."

Klaus quirks his brow, as if he'd forgotten about the whip, and glances down at his damaged leg. "Mm, you're right. But you really shouldn't have put a line between us."

"...Heh?"

Klaus' free hand wraps round the whip, and pulls hard. The Enforcer is sent flying straight towards the vampire. His outstretched sword as well...

The charred black blade jams itself through Wayne's chest at high velocity, fire scorching his flesh, inside and out. The mage bellows in pain and horror. "YAAAAGH--NOT AN ILLUSION, NOT AN ILLUSION!"

"No, it's NOT." Klaus quips. He releases the sword and lets it hang from Wayne's body. Both of his hands grip the wing-haired man's face, forcing his eyes open as Klaus stares within. His irises begin to gleam with a strange color as he locks gazes with Wayne Tepes. In a cooing, hypnotic tone he whispers: "Heed my command, mortal. Kill the Executor."

"Kill the... Executor...?" repeats Wayne. His words are slow, and slightly slurred, like he's inexperienced with his own voice.

"You are my thrall. Do as I command."

"I... I..."

Klaus jolts, and leans back just in time to avoid a knife to the face.

"I pass."

Before the vampire can process these events, Wayne tugs upon the whip, taking the vampire off-balance and tripping him. Hind only has the time as he falls to grab his sword and rip it from the mage's body. Wayne staggers backwards, trying to cover the huge bleeding gash. Taking a moment to gather as much spit as he can, he hocks a lob of the stuff on the vampire.

"Nobody orders me."

There is no time to count the remaining Keys, but you believe that you will have five left after throwing this one. Your supply is running low, but the the beast above denies you the opportunity to worry about that. You toss the blade behind you and watch as gravity inverts itself, throwing the blade upwards to Mikhaela. Specifically, the hand she's perched upon. The Key splits her off at the wrist, tendons and bone hewed. You see tears lingering in the air above her as she plummets, but her expression is nothing but animal fury. She falls faster than you can move, and she is upon you like a storm.

"HOMEWRECKER!" she shouts, again, and again and again. "I hate you, I hate you, just DIE!"

Your arms are pinned beneath her calves, and you cannot find the strength to get her off of you as she swings away with her claws. Your body shakes and jerks helplessly, dragged along in the direction of her swipes as she digs into your chest. Your clothes have absorbed some of the damage, but not enough. You try to pull an arm out, and nearly succeed before she notices. "Don't STRUGGLE!" A punishing claw flits across your face, and you scream to the heavens as your eye is split open, her claw dragging down from your brow to your jaw. "Heehee, now we're even," she giggles, lapping up the blood and water dripping from her own gouged eye. "I wonder... what does a holy man taste like?"

"You!" Klaus spits. "No human can resist the will of Klaus Hind! What sort of trick is this?"

"No tricks, no tricks," Wayne assures, tapping his temple with a finger. "Just a, uh, hehe, higher grade of Enforcer, that's all." Even in terrible pain Wayne keeps up his antics. His legs are beginning to shake, unable to support him after all the blood he lost. Quietly, he steps backwards, letting the whip continue to wear down Klaus' stamina. The vampire was beginning to look strained, but not nearly to the extent the mage was.

"Well, however you did it, I'll make sure you're the last one to do so. May your kind never darken my doorway again!"

They clash once more, a flurry of blows. Klaus is simply the faster being, and his sword weaves through Wayne's defenses, cleaving against his stomach. Wayne twists his body and takes the brunt of it against his arm, but the wound is still severe. The wounds are cauterized by the fire, but each one is filled lingering, painful burns. Wayne ripostes, two quick jabs bursting through and poking holes in Hind's chest. They part ways again to catch their breaths. Wayne glances your way, and sees the predicament you are in.

"Aw... shit. I can't get to you right now, pal," he thinks to himself. "Just hang on a little longer. All I need to do is get my hands on that sword, and..."

It will be close, but you think you can sneak out one more blade from your frock. The vampire's remaining eye is ravenous with hunger, and she clearly has thoughts on things besides what your arm is up to. She leans down, sniffing the blood trickling down your face. She moans in pleasure, letting her tongue trail along the wound before digging--just a bit--into your vivisected eye. The pain is excruciating, and the working half of your face is soaked by tears and sweat. You can feel her sniffing you. "Delicious," she whispers. "You'll be my favorite meal, little priest. Like manna from heaven!"

Shunk. Her working eye is twitching now, too, as she's just realized what happened. Your left arm, free now from her pin, retrieved a Black Key and shafted it through her throat. She tries to say something, but can no longer speak with her vocal chords eviscerated. You snarl and push back at her, sawing back and forth with the Black Key. You flip, and before you know it she is on the ground, and you are straddling her. You take a second Key, and work in tandem. Her body shakes and scratches and writhes, but it is far too late to resist you now. In and out, you thrust your blades, blood streaming down her throat. You saw her down to the bone, and file further, cutting away her spinal cord. Only barest bundles of nerves connect her head to the rest of her now, and Mikhaela is a stroke from death. You raise your blades for the final blow... and then you hear a sound. A sniffle.
>>
>>29302693
Hehe, whoops, forgot my trip again.

Even with her body ravaged, the vampire has the smallest bit of expression left available to her. She is crying, snot and tears dribbling down her face. For all your efforts, you cannot help but see a scared and confused girl, whose life you are about to end without a second thought. You are reminded of the ghoul in the stockade. The one whom you took a blade to, without remorse. The thought still revolts you, and as you stare at this mangled body you wonder if you can repeat your actions.

You understand Catarina so much more clearly now. You comprehend the lesson she was teaching when she forced you to kill a defenseless creature. No matter the circumstance, or how pitiful the monster you face is, your duty does not change.

You have learned your lesson well.

"May God save your soul... and mind as well." You slice the chord with your Key. Mikhaela's body jolts, and is then very still. The muscles in her face relax, and for a brief moment she almost appears peaceful. She must have been a beautiful girl in life, in your opinion. But she has passed, and her body begins to crumble. Startled, you rise to your feet, and see that her body has reduced itself to nothing but a pile of dust. You take a breath, and sigh deeply. This was not in self-defense. Is this your third kill, or second murder?

"MIKHAELA! NO!" You hear the anguished wailing of a man behind you. Klaus Hind has turned away from his own battle, and has collapsed to his knees watching the dust that was once his comrade scatter. "My angel..." Bitter tears well up in the corners of his eyes, and he you feel a chill as his attention turns to you. Something strange happens to the air. The warped spaces seem to be returning to normal. The Reality Marble has shattered.

"You..." he growls. "You will not be graced with death. You will be my thrall, so I can defile your corpse for all time. Do you hear me, priest?! You will be my SLAVE!"

He rises to his feet, gripping his blade tightly. You see Wayne charge him, cracking the whip and swinging his knife. What happens next goes by too quickly to watch. Klaus swims through the human's meager strikes, and drives his sword through Wayne's stomach. The Enforcer hacks a glob of blood, and is left kneeling with the burning blade within him as Klaus turns back to you. With great speed he lunges forward, crossing the room quickly, hollering for your blood.

You have to slow the vampire down or he'll tear you to shreds in your current state. Luckily, there is already a blade in your hand. You toss the Black Key and watch as it smashes through Klaus Hind's knee. He buckles, and tumbles several times from the inertia, cursing your name every inch of the way. You manage to get some precious space between the two of you and retreat into the shadows behind the pillars. But now you have to figure out what to do from here. The vampire is getting back up, the ligaments in his leg stitching back together slowly. And he is looking for you.

Not like we have any real way of helping him anyways, maybe he can come from behind with that demon sword if we can draw this out.

You watch him searching frantically for you. Klaus's wrath is frightening you, but hiding will only prolong the inevitable. But you can use it to your advantage. From your shadowy alcove, a Black Key is flung forth; it cleaves a chunk from the vampire's side, earning a yowl and a glare. Directly at you.

"I see you!"

Into the shadows he charges, swinging wildly at your silhouette. Your nerves are working in your favor, and your battered form dances around his blows. Stone is cleaved from the walls and dust chokes the darkened room, digging into your open wounds. He's in close now.

You are locked in mortal combat with Klaus Hind. Only inches from each other, cloaked in darkness, with only minimal room to maneuver. You can smell the blood on his lips, hear the frantic pace of his breath, and see the frightening red color in his eyes. But you are a servant of the Lord. You do not fear him.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley..."

You wield two Black Keys, one in each hand, and dive into the fray. Your weapons are weaker than his claws, but have peeled back the skin of his kind. Their flesh, and their bone is no mystery to you. You know how to make them hurt. He swings at you, and you bend backwards; the claws fly over you and rend the pillar just inches from your face. He is sprayed with recoiling bits of rock, followed by a quick jab of your blade. His cheek is pierced, and blood flows forth. He kicks at you, but you've already ducked away and swung yourself to his rear. Two quick slices, and you've severed his Achilles' heels. His legs buckle, and you are upon him, tearing away at his body like a skilled surgeon. He lashes at you with his hand, and like utensils plucking away morsels of food, your swords dance along his hands and cut away his fingers. He lurches from the floor and tries to tackle you, but you skid back and let him crash into the wall. More dust flies out, obscuring his vision. But you're already missing an eye. You can deal with the pain. Two Black Keys pierce him, one through each temple. You grab another and jam it up underneath his ribcage, letting blood flow down your hand. He hisses at you and snaps with his jaws, but you crack him in the jaw with your fist. You think you've just broken a few fingers, but you don't feel any pain. Another Black Key comes from your sleeve, and you take your working hand and carve into the meat by his shoulder. A healthy cut is removed and flops to the floor.
>>
>>29306543
Your hair is matted, and filthy, and covered in blood. It is drooping and obscuring your vision, but you can't stop slashing away at the vampire to swat it away. Your entire body is shaking, at its breaking point, but with all the strength you have left you slam a final blade into his heart.

The battle stops. You and he both freeze, your bodies trembling from the extreme stress. With furor you gaze into his broken eyes, and... and... what a lovely shade they are.

"Stop," a compelling voice commands. You obey its order, and your hands retreat from your weapons. Klaus Hind is pleased with your obedience, and smiles as he raises his fingerless stump of a hand. "Very good boy."

With only a light push, he shoves his arm through your chest and out the other side.

16/15 Wounds sustained! Now in Critical Condition! (Each action you take now gives you a Wound. Upon reaching +5 max Wounds, you will die.)

Your body is thrown against the wall, where you slump down. Everything is red, and the beating of your heart seems to falter. You tilt your head back to look at the man who has smote you, but it is... so very tiring...

Klaus Hind massages his wounded hand as he scoffs at your broken form. "Where is your God now, priest? You've only received what a murderer deserves. Now, stay there for a moment while I finish your frie-"

"KYA!!"

Wayne charges from behind, the flaming sword in hand, and drives it up and through Klaus's back. The fire lights the darkened corner, and you can see a mixture of shock and unadulterated rage upon the vampire's face. His body twists and burns as catastrophic damage is wrought, but he managed to turn around and face the mage.
>>
>>29306588
"You... WHELP!" His working hand bats Wayne across the face, and his body goes careening across the hall. He slams his back into a pillar and flops to the floor. You do not know if he is unconscious or dead, but he is not moving any longer. Hind, twitching and creaking with ache, turns to face you, euphoria upon him.

"You've lost, priest. Tell me... what are you last words before I take you?"

>Tell him.

Your body shudders as you struggle to speak. "I shall not grace you with my last breath."

You bow your head and do not look at him. Your last moments shall be spent with God. Although, you do not know if He would have you in His presence. You have done things that you are not proud of in your short time as an Executor, but you would like to think they were necessary, as you were convinced. You confess your sins to the Lord. You are a priest, after all; perhaps you will be forgiven for not making it to a confessional, just this once. "Almighty God, and my brothers and sisters, I confess that I have sinned through my own faults. In what I have done, and in what I have failed to do."

Another scornful noise comes from Klaus. "Empty words from an empty man. Now die, Executor, and see how hollow your faith is."

He raises his hand...

"Get away from my student."

A terse voice speaks up somewhere behind him. He cannot even turn around before she has struck. There is a swish, of some thin object cutting through the air, and a metallic ringing like the playing of chimes. You raise your head and cannot believe what you are seeing.

A scythe. A large scythe has passed through Klaus Hind's body. Its body is thick, gnarled, and constructed of some ancient black wood, but the blade is thin, toothed, and made of some iridescent metal. It has passed through his body clean, and left no marks or wounds. It has taken something out with it, though: a single, golden thread, shining in the light with a myriad of different colors, is caught upon its edge and drawn taut. Klaus seems frozen, by fear or some magic, and is stuck in his terrified stance.

And holding the scythe is Catarina Belmont.
>>
>>29307875
"N-no..." Hind's eyes are wide and trembling. "It cannot be you. Th-the Angel of--"

"Oh, so you know me?" she teases. "Then you should know there's no escaping. You see that line there, on my blade?" His eyes seem forcibly drawn as they move to look at it. "Yeah, that. That's what would be called your Thread of Life."

His face, agape, is chattering in horror now. "Y-y-you can't--"

"Oh, I CAN," Catarina assures him. "Because I also have these:" she produces from her pocket what appears to be nothing more than a pair of shears. But Klaus unwittingly fills you in as he gasps their name.

"The Shears of Atropos..?"

"Educated little prick, aren't you?" Her smirk has grown into a sadistic smile now as her victim struggles to escape her blade. "Now c'mere. Momma's going to put you to bed now."

The shears reach out toward the thread. Klaus begs and pleads, his voice childishly-pitched as he grovels and asks to be spared. As her shears close in around the beautiful string he screams, "I've done no harm to you!"

She mulls this over a bit. "Yeah. You haven't."

Snip, go the shears. The line is cut. "But you hurt my student." Klaus's eyes darken, rolling back into his skull. With nothing to support him, his body flops to the ground, blood leaking from every pore. He does not stir again. The moment his body hits the ground, Catarina rushes toward you, the scythe nowhere to be seen. Your eyes can barely make out her face as she shakes your shoulders, trying to rouse you. You think she looks afraid. It's refreshing to see an actual emotion coming from her, for once.

"Bartolomè. Bartolomè! Can you hear me? Say something!"

You can feel your consciousness slipping, but you still have so many things to say.

"Help... Wayne..."

"Wayne?" she asks, bewildered. "The Enforcer? Bartolomè? Bartolomè!"

You try to say answer her, but the words aren't coming. There's no more air in your lungs. As you wheeze for breath, the air around you darkens. You struggle; you can't go yet! You still need to know why Catarina is here, and who Klaus was? Why were you sent here on your own? Your sight departs you, your muscles relax, and you see Catarina stepping up to approach the distant body of Wayne as a deep sleep takes you...

Oh, something I forgot to talk about! With classes during the week I won't be able to do Quests except on the weekends, for the most part. So the update schedule will slow down a bit.

For Fridays, Saturdays, and potentially Sundays (Probably never all three in a three-day span) would you guys prefer me starting the Quest in the afternoon, or later towards evening?
>>

I prefer later evening, but that's just me trying to encourage my stay-in-at-night attitude. I can guarantee I'll be more likely to respond then, but that's just me.
