Welcome, Prince of All Monsters, to Earth. Your Kingdom.

You shall start off as an abandoned infant of an unknown creature, in a cove on a small island, having recently woken from a ray a light pouring inside the only home you'd ever known; the dark inside of your egg shell. You are roughly the size of a school bus when you awake.
The overall goal of the quest is to become the most powerful Kaiju on Earth, staking the whole planet as your territory and decimating all you do not deem worthy to exist under your reign, or to be destroyed, which is certainly possible, with the secondary quest of figuring out how you, and the other giant monsters, came to exist. Once you have attained King Of The Monsters, or perished trying, only then might you have your well earned rest; one reserved for gods. Note that you are not unique in this world. You are part of a 'second wave', a new kind of giant monster that seems have followed the weaker kinds which had been springing up in the last few years. The over-sized dinosaurs and truck-sized insects were menacing the world before you arrived into it, but you and others like you are a breed all your own. You, in particular, however... are a special case. Your form is not decided at birth, but rather, through the concentrated will to evolve in a given direction. This is your power; and the crown is your birthright.

You may decide whether you are Mammalian, Reptilian, Fish-like, or Insectoid after I make the following few posts.
>>
Stats to be made aware of:

Growth Level: Goes 1 - 10. At Level 1, a Kaiju is barely a match for a single human tank, if that, and is largely defenseless. At around Level 6, A kaiju becomes almost totally invulnerable to all human weapons save WMDs. At Level 9, even nuclear weapons may not kill a kaiju.

HP: Starts off at 100, at Level 1. For every stage of growth undertaken, HP multiplies x1.3 If the Kaiju is injured, it heals at a rate of 2 (+ 1x Regenerator Rank) x Growth Level per turn. Food Loss is increased +2 x Growth Level until full health is reached.

Food: The amount of nutrition the Kaiju has on tap, over their Hunger Limit. Typically, the rate of food loss is 5 per turn. Players start with 300/200 Food. To Grow, players must have achieved twice their Hunger Limit in food. If players fall below the hunger limit, they begin to lose 1 point of HP every turn for every 5 points below their hunger limit they are at. Their Hunger Limit increases by x1.5 every time they grow, so players will have to be keen to keep finding sources of food. Foraging in jungles and bodies of water might keep them sated at lower growth levels, but at higher levels, players will need to hunt larger or more plentiful prey.

Mutagen: This resource is gained by battling, consuming, and befriending Kaiju. This is 'experience points' in a sense. An average mutation costs about 2 mutagen, with some higher level mutations costing 20 or more. Players will start with 10 mutagen. The amount of Mutagen a Kaiju kill rewards is 2^Growth Level/Growth
Level (rounded up) + 1 x Growth Level.

Mutations and Skills list: Mutations are listed in [ ], Skills are listed in ( ). While mutations are bought, 'skills' are typically learned via plot device, i.e. the Kaiju learns to replicate something it sees.
>>
You may now chose, Prince, what you wish to be.

All choices in Kaiju Quest are done by majority vote. After every post, I will give you around 10 minutes or so to decide, democratically, on your first choice of action. This is your first choice; choose wisely:

>Reptilian: Gains [Regenerator 1] instead of basic healing. All [Regenerator] Ranks cost 50% less for Reptilian Kaiju.

>Mammalian: Gains [Thermal Resistor]. Heat and Cold based weapons deal only 25% as much damage to well insulated Mammalian Kaiju.

>Aquatic: Gains [Amphibious]. Though all Kaiju can swim, these ancient-looking, fishy kaiju are most at home in the water. While in water, they gain +2 to their current Regenerator Rank; but -1 on land due to drying out. If they have no regenerator rank at all, healing on land does not occur. Food does not deplete while in the ocean and not in combat.

>Cephalopod: Gains [Basic Shell]. These kaiju have a different biology than most. Their hard exoskeletons allow them to soak up more damage than other types of Kaiju. Base Health is increased 10%.

Alright, so then your mutations will be:

Locking it youu choices.

Well, my future king, you seem to have dug your way out of your shell with little issue. As you fall from the calcified womb with absolutely no grace at all, you might find yourself lucky to have your first impact of your eight-ton, 50-foot from tail-tip to snout body was against sand. Some rocks, but those are nothing to your thick hide at any rate. Your yellow eyes flutter open, and your tongue flicks out instinctively to taste the air as you slowly begin to get your bearings.

Your scales are pale and colorless for now, they'll darken up later. Your rasp your clawed fingers along the ground as you stand, somewhat shakily, on what are fairly thick and strong legs for a newborn kaiju (or for any lifeform of any age, really). You don't know whether the feeling of the sensations running up your sensitive nerve and muscle fibers are more surprising, or the fact that your claws removed a metric ton of sand just from standing up. Your massive head turns slowly, and you find yourself inside a... dome. There's a quiet stream running just next to you, and above, you can see that this large shelter's rocky ceiling is broken by a massive hole in the top. Your instincts are a little murky, but what grabs your attention more?

Your eyes, having adjusted to this midday light, find you at the middle of a massive dome, and you seem keen to the fact that the floor inside is around 3-kilometers wide. In the distance in three directions are massive fissures through which the river flows, and at all edges are forest. Your nose is still clogged with egg yolk, and, as of yet, is useless.

You feel, through your legs, vibrations weakly coming from the entrances to the dome, but not much else. It seems serene, and calm in here. If you had a philosophical mind, you might fight it beautiful, but you probably don't. The forest behind you seems to occasionally clatter with the noise of birds, and occasionally hooves, which you somehow instinctively register as easy prey. The rocking of the water against the shore also catches your attention in its rhythmic sloshing.

The river, shimmering the light of high noon, catched your attention the most. Taking a few shaky steps, you find yourself next to it all too quickly. The lower your snout towards it as your bird-like eyes scan its surface, trying to make out anything. From what your young monster brain can reason, it's fairly large; being around forty feet wide (a couple of strides for you), and seems to be some odd... 20 feet deep? You couldn't tell unless you put your foot inside, to be honest.

You also see things moving. Lots of things. Upon closer inspection, they're animals. Fish, of all things. Large tuna, you'd know, if you were a human and you knew anything about fish, anyways. Hundreds, no, thousands of them swim mindlessly in one direction, with the occasional oddball zig-zagging along and around their fellows like they had somewhere more important to be.

Do you feel...

You take a tentative step forward, feeling to crisp, cold water begin to flow through the rough, rigid skin of your toes. You flinch at first, pulling your foot away with a hiss, before putting it back in, and holding it. Feels... nice, actually, you realize, as it washes off the slime you'd been covered in after all these months. Feeling confident, you move to put another foot in the water.

And in doing so, shift your weight on the sandy bank in such a way that you lose your foothold, and slip-- into 29-foot deep waters. Rushing rapid, actually. You bounce ungracefully off the bottom of the river, flailing and yelping as you try to orient your body-- not so easy when doing so tumbles you head over tail a couple of times. a few mouthfulls of water, at least, relieve any thirst you may have had, before your instincts smack you upside the back of the head and take the wheel. You suddenly find yourself oriented. The water is only four times deeper than you are thick, but with a few tentative kicks off the bottom, you find yourself straight as an arrow; your hips swaying left to right subtley as you find yourself snaking shakily through the water, going at a reasonable pace-- even though you're swimming against the river. The sense of wonder soon gives way to newfound inventiveness-- it'd sure be easy to catch those fish in your maw while swimming opposite them. You open your wide maw, and sure enough, fish fly inside. A good deal of water does too, but the density of tuna is so great that you take in quite a whole lot. More than enough to satisfy your belly for right now.

Aqua Kaijus tend to not be too powerful. Look at Edidrah for instance. It's the ones that fly that are the real bastards. Mothra and King Ghidorah for instance.

Which brings up a question. What's the battle plan for when we do encounter a flyer? Anything that has to walk is in our element, but if they fly they can probably see us through disturbances we leave in our wake while our vibration senses are useless.

The river's charm has let up on you, though you are certainly no deadweight in the water. Your belly full, your legs catch the bottom of the river again, and you manage to get a foothold. You pull yourself out of the water, though it takes a while since you end up pulling more of the riverbank into the river than you onto the riverbank.

Still, you manage to get onto land, and realize that you can now smell better that're squeaky clean and free of gunk. Your eggshell lies far off in the distance now, and you're much closer to one exit. Notably, its lighter here, and darker on the other side of the dome now. Idly, you stare at your claws, finding your nails to be quite long compared to stubby, but muscular fingers, and capable of churning dirt. As you walk off of the sand, shaking off a few gallons of water as you do you, you test them against the rocks which begin where the sand ends, finding your can move the loose stones just as easily. Your sense, idly, through your feet and claws as you dig, some vibrations from things which must walk like you do.

You feel that the Earth beneath you is as much your home as the water... no, more so. You begin you push downward, your claws raking apart rocks, then dirt, then both, shoveling it out of your way in a rather Swift fashion. With an explosive burst of excited energy, you begin to dig harder and harder, soon finding your head, then your shoulder blades beneath the Earth; your right rear talons gripping the edge of your hole firmly.

Voraciously, you begin to tear into the ground, pushing down and forward, until, within the span of a half minute, your swishing tail tip disappears from the above world, and you are totally within the darkness below. Your eyes down here are useless, but your other sense; your 'inner ear', or oyur 'bodily ear', you can hear. You can FEEL, things, roving the surface, with incredible clarity. As the dirt and rocks form around your body, you have incredible foresight to the world above.

Excitedly, you hear three distinct sounds.

You chose that the rumbling off, beyond the dome, is what catches your interest most. Assuredly, you begin to push yourself in that direction, your rear feet getting in on the action as you push yourself farther and faster, curiosity taking hold over your newborn lizard mind as dirt covers your light-gray, scaly body. You're digging at a good speed, covering your body length in only a couple of seconds. Still, it takes quite some time to reach the source of the rumbling, which grows stronger and stronger. A couple, maybe three, minutes later, you get incredibly close, being maybe a dozen or so meters below the rumbling noise-- which actually seems to be a long, thin, wavy strip of rumbling noises right over top of you. Each one is small, but there's lots of them.

Ever excited and curious, you dig upward towards the rumbling, briefly hitting a new layer of rock, different from the others you had dug through up to that point. You pay it no mind, however, as you push you claw up against it, ripping open the dirt and stone, and push your hard head through, breaking up to the surface just as one of the rumble passes over.

The sun blinds you briefly as you stick your head out, a wooshing wind filling your ears-- and a sudden, alien, loud shriek as you witness an object, about the size of your head, red in color, whizzing down to your left. Your eyes get a close look at it for all of a second, before a louder shriek hits your ears from your sharp left, and as you eyes turns to get a look, you get a look at a similar creature, exactly the same but grey in color. Its ear-piercing shriek is your only warning, before a near ton of glass and metal smashes into your head at over sixty miles per hour; shrapnel and yellow blood and glass shards exploding around your face in a massive cloud.

Your vision blurs as your first real experience with pain drills itself into your brain, the creature that slammed into you flipping end over end as its whining flairs to a strange, throbbing, blaring noise that pounds your aching skull. You lean forward on your elbow, groaning loudly in anguish and anger as you try to shake off the alien sensation, just as the grey beast smashes, upside-down, on your right, skidding as a mangled pile of refuse across the highway as you find yourself suddenly surrounded by superficially similar things, of varying size and color. More shrieking, and a scent of burning rubber fills your newly birthed nostrils.

Your senses begin to return, just as you see a few of the beasts release a few, strange-looking, multi-colored, two-legged beings, each one looking on in shock at you.

With an angered growl, you pull yourself up out of the hole, much to the horror of the crowd who had gathered, many of them staggering back. A few get back into their metal beasts, and begin to peel out and away, but for everyone that does, two more come to a dead stop, some of them even smashing into each other. Whatever yelling and shock you had instilled amongst them seemed to have intensified, and as your maw opens in a panged roar; the blood from your recently healed head wound flung from your lips as your cry strikes dread into the hearts of the small beasts who had struck you.

Many more begin to flee, some forsaking their metal beasts altogether as they begin to run off of the road, sometimes in groups. A few are too shocked to even move.

Crying comes from your right, however, as some of the small creatures, bloody and screaming, try to pry themselves and others from the twisted, burning hunk of glass and steel that had struck you.

You peer over towards the wreck, curiosity overtaking you as you peer over at the wreck. One of the creatures wails loudly at you, backing off and stumbling as your snout brushes the edge of their woefully underinsured minivan. It tips it, just a bit, tearing away a little more of the metal, opening up the inside. There inside, lie three creatures; the large one in the window, a small unconcious one, and another small one, bloody and quivering in fear as it looks up at your grotesque maw. You decide, then and there, that these beings,

[Not gonna bother quoting all the posts, but 'Not Worth Your Time' wins by a slim margin]

With an apathetic puff of air from your nostrils, the pain in your head forgotten, you leave the small creatures to their burning pile of metal. It isn't your issue, after all, if they didn't watch where they were going, right?

Instead, you decide, that though these creatures interest you, you would prefer a larger gathering. Perhaps more to scare up, or assert yourself over? You don't know, but hey, you're curious. The metal beasts that could seem to have fled from you, and you crush the end of one of them underfoot because it didn't move fast enough. The crush, you might note, is briskly satisfying.

You decide that you wish to find where these beast come from. Leaving behind the scene of mayhem, you trek down an otherwise empty road. This layer of rock is certainly different from any of the others you had seen, all flat... something about this rock and the metal beasts were off to you in some way you didn't have the ability to comprehend.

Your child-like innocence propels you curiously down the road, a determined glint in your eye as, from behind the setting sun off in the distance, you see something which amazes you: a legion of glistening lights off in the distance, and from beneath your feet, you feel the many rumbles it is producing. The light, sound, and sensation is alluring to you as anything.

You cannot contain yourself, and excitedly approach the spectacle like a child in a toy store. Your slitted yellow eyes gaze in wonder upon the sights; some of the structures are shorter than you, and, as you discover, some are bigger still. From below, you hear shrieking. Whatever these things were, they sure liked to shriek a lot. Those fish might have been better company, and all this yelling is getting on your nerves. But then, a new scent hits you. It's the scent of... something burning. Something... meaty. Saliva forms at the corners of your lips as your foot knocks aside a vehicle, setting off its blaring horn as you close in on the scent, deeper inside the city limits. As you track the scent, you think to claw your way underground, so that the wailing sirens did not bother you so much. But you see in your mind an image of what the smell could possibly be, and find yourself heading for it.

As you push yourself back up, you find yourself right next to a colorful structure, and the scent is... uggh.... overwhelming. There's a new wailing, a different patter now. More rhythmic, less varied than the ones the others were giving off, and it seems to be growing louder. You see, from the corner of your eye, one of the metal beasts approaching oyu, and skidding to a stop. This one, however, also has sparkling lights on it-- red and blue.

You seem to have hit a motherload here. Your snouth breaks through the wood and tile ceiling as if it were paper, and, paying no heed to the constant shrieking, begin to sniff around for food. Inarticulate yelling follows (seriously, what is up with that?), but you soon find the object of your desires. Your claws strip away he extraneous metal bits as you begin to uncover the heaps of cooked and uncooked fish; pork and beef in secondary supply. And all of it just BEGGING to be eaten. Your chops licked adequetly, you plunge your maw into the kitchen; hunched somewhat awkwardly over the side of the building as you fill up your stomach rather swiftly-- your snake-like tongue lapping up whatever your teeth could not grip.

As you pull your head from the meal, you are forced to squint-- there's a very bright light in your eyes now, it would seem, and a loud, beating noise fills your ear. The light seems to be hovering-- in front of a flying metal beast, of all things, just sitting in place and blowing wind all about. As you look down, you see about... twenty, flashing blue and red lights. Many more beasts have come to deliver them to you, it seems! Also, it would appear that several other metal beasts, around twice as long and jet black in coloration, have also stopped.

Many of the smaller two legged creatures seem to be piled around you, and they are all holding what appear to be... fish. Metal fish. That's what those are. Are they offering them to you? Metal fish don't sound very good... But hey, these ones at least seem calm and organized! That's probably good for us, right?

Thinking quickly, you decide that it's about time to split. But first... spotting one of the empty sparkle beasts, you sink your jaws around it, being careful just enough not to break it. Suddenly, the metal-fish of the little creatures begin sparkling as well, making little popping noises. They tickle your skin, giving you a funny tingling sensation. Sometimes it stings, but not enough for you to really even register it as pain. It's almost a therapeutic sensation! All the same, you've had your fill, and it's time to go. The wailing sparklebeast in your mouth, you flee down through the hole the way you came, leaving the people and their metal fish and other sparkle beasts behind.

Having had your fill for the day, you head back to that dome you called home. You feel its a relatively safe, serene place. These little creatures seem fun enough, but they're tiring at any rate. It takes five or so minutes, but you do eventually manage to tunnel straight through to your dome, where you pop-up. Right in the middle of a forest, a wailing police car between your jaws.

You let your new toy fall out of your mouth, and the beat up, yet ever rugged crown victoria defiantly flips rightside onto its wheels, light blaring as bright as ever.

A few deer seem to have been spooked up around here-- an entire heard of the things are just freaking out over there.

You have a fairly full stomach, so you go ahead and decide you want to play with your sparklebeast. The wailing is annoying so you listen in keenly... trying to isolate the sound. You gently grab the roof with one claw, and push it back and forth. The car, thankfully, was in drive, not park, os this doesn't break it, as if you cared. However, you notice, that the deer seem to have approached you... a though runs through your mind, and you decide... to play. Perhaps you imagine yourself to be the human, riding in the sparkly beast, and the deer is you? Whatever it is... it does entertain your brain a bit!

+3 Mutagen

You end up smacking one of the dear with the front end, and it goes flying like a limp ragdoll quite a ways away. This dents the front of your toy-- ceasing that awful wailing noise. But it still runs, at least! And the sparkles are fine!

You absolutely tear up the place. Dirt and grass and rock flies everywhere as you smash your toy into deer after deer, a smile growing in your mind as the Crown Vic gets smashed into the little things over and over again. You pick each one up with the fingers of your other claw as you go, tossing them in your mouth and idly chewing as you grind your toy across the grass and into more animals time and time again. BAM. POW. And you just send those suckers flying, sometimes into each other. It's a hell of a time. You're sure you saw at least one get flung clear across the treeline. Your toy's dented and full of blood now, but otherwise in perfect working order.

...Maybe this is why those human hit you, eh? Probably thought you were a deer. They must have given you this toy to apologize!

You bash your prized possession into more animals, brutally destroying each one with predatorily glee. Truly, you were living the dream over every reptile who ever lived right now. Your car flies, seemingly in slow motion, cresting over hill after hill as panicked mammals run in absolute horror from your sparkling, beautiful blue, white, and now red toy, your wide, basketball-sized eyes looking on in childlike wonder. That car is your entire world right now.

If only the dinosaurs of old could see you now. You demolish all the herd, save for one-- a particularly succulent looking buck. You rear back your toy, and really go for this one, bounding your car over hills in a well-calculated intercept course. The moment approaches slowly, and your cruiser gives that deer a real bruisin', pummelling it straight up into the air with a rough smack. It goes flipping end over end, as you extend your mouth to catch it-- and as you feel a gust of wind brush past your nose, your jaws clamp shut on only air.

Your confused eyes adjust, and you see your deer... held between four of the six legs, of a very off looking, semi-truck sized insect. The body of a Dragonfly, the head and stinger of a wasp. It's... more like you, than any of the creatures you've so far seen. Certainly the biggest. A pair of black mandibles decapitate the deer, and the beast, floating at just a little above eye level, and a football field away, seems to mock you as it begins eating your kill.

73 vs 40

You take the initiative. With a growl you leave your toy on the ground, and charge your opponent.

They take flight on high, causing you to undershoot your first blind charge. The wasp-like being comes around, however, angered, and its long dragonfly-tail extends to sing you. You dodge-- mostly. The five-foot long stinger punctures your left shoulder, causing you to wince in pain as it draw yellow blood-- more than the human vehicle even did. But this gives you an advantage, in that, well... it can't fly away from this position. You jerk your skull forward-- bashing the thing in its abdomen, causing it to crack with a loud, sickening squelch. It recoils, pulling its stinger out of you and floating backwards. Its torso leaks its greenish blood, and it hisses at you through its mandibles.

Now, it takes its turn to strike. Aiming for your neck, jaws wide open, the hovering beast lashes forwards at you!

The wasp never stood a chance. She grabs for your long neck-- and is stopped, mid-air, as your claw wraps around its own. It struggles to sting you, fluttering its wings uselessly, but its over. You decide to take him down.

And that motherfucker goes DOWN. Hard. You put the fucker in a headlock and, in a swift motion, grab the stinger from behind your back, just under the tip, in your other arm, letting your weight fall out from behind you-- and you slam Kami so hard you break more body segments than he probably has. A loud shriek and pop is heard as blood splatters all over your bumpy back, but just to rub it in, you, well... rub it in, rolling to an from a couple times to give him a good squishing. Poor bugger never stood a chance stepping to you, did he?

Congratulations, Prince, on defeating your FIRST Kaiju. Now, overtaken with the insatiable urge to claim what is yours in the wake of this death, you get to your feet, letting hte carcass slide off of your back, and quickly turn around-- burying your maw inside it. In a ferocious display of victory, you haphazrdly devour the monster.

You have grown. You feel the muscles in your body tensing as you begin to fill out into your true form, your scales darkening as the light almost totally fades from the inside of your home. Your growth will not be completed until the morning, but already you feel your monstrous body shifting, changing, evolving. Your muscles grow more powerful, your digger's claws more wicked and tough-- your jaw aches as it broadens and deepens slowly, the bone and ligament and muscle growing at a miraculous rate. Even your senses are sharper. The drops of blood falling down your chin, which now seems fifteen feet farther from the ground than it did this morning, are crisp and vivid in your eyes. The scent, of upturned dirt; of spilt insect innards, and of your toy's exhaust from half a mile away, all come to the forefront of your mind's eye with such detail its incredible, but never-the-less, just as manageable as before. Now, you are no longer an infant.

Now, my Prince, you are a child.

It is time to lie down and rest your tired eyes. Your kingdom will be here tomorrow, waiting patiently for its king.

Was a very fun beginning to the quest and I'm looking forward to it continuing. I especially like how you wrote our interactions with the humans and playing with that car, it was very fitting when we are effectively a newborn.

This thread is fucking awesome.

1) Do you mind if I steal elements of your hunger system for a quest I'm planning to launch later?
2) Don't forget to archive this before you end it for tonight.

That car shall forever be with us. We shall travel the world, smashing deer and little fleshlings alike.

>>29316520
this pretty much sums it up perfectly.
ill be waiting eagerly for the next installment.

>What's the character for said quest?
>>
>>29316520
Thank you! I will try to keep that up.
>>29316536
Go ahead.

And I normally would just wait for it to archive on foolz. I'm too bashful to request it be added to any archive.
>>
>>29316554
I'll be doing that, then.

And if you don't archive on suptg, how can I link my friends once it 404s?
>>
>>29316607
You can still link people to foolz.

Well I suppose that wasn't difficult.

I just wanna say, this was a fun thread. I have high hopes for this quest.
