Woohoo, 15 threads!

Your name is Micheal Groves, and oh god, that is a big ass skeleton. It towers over you like an angry father, you only come up to its ankle. Thomas is nowhere to be seen, and shreds of his jacket litter the ground to be swept up by a passing wind. The beast roars.

You have to do this alone, somehow.

You square yourself in the air.

You think you have time for one spell.

Give me four actions, anons!
New to this thread: If you take the same action more than once, you roll for them all with one roll, but any Bursts are applied for each attack. (So if you use four burst balls and burst on one of them, that burst is applied to all of them and you gain 4 darkness). Hopefully this speeds things up!

The world slows to a fourth of its former speed as the beast swings for you - You lazily move out of the way, but that's when you feel it - blades bite into your cloak and your socks, splitting them with a thousand cuts. You feel your skin open, you feel blood leak, but instead your socks and cloak turn to shreds as you go through what feels like a cloud full of razors instead of water. You dance away, scared.

He can hit you even when you're hasted!

Your weapon glows, transforming in your hands into a bazooka, which you point at the skeleton as you move. Rocket after rocket fires from the device, each one black with a yellow bat on the tip - and then they streak out after him.

But the wind picks up.

Six of the rockets fly off course, one slamming into his foot and five careening off into the distance. Two of them, however, slam into his hand as he guards his face. The hand is blackened, cracked, but not shattered. His foot creaks as he turns to face you. You're not fast enough to haste again before he backhands you harshly into the sky, your gauntlets shattering under the force of the blow. You feel your arms break, but they are fine once the pain passes.

The skeleton laughs as you careen through the sky, leaping after you.

You raise your bat, light shining over your body as your clothing regenerates entirely. You feel safer, for the barest moment, and then Marrowmaw slams you down with both hands, rocketing you into the ground, which you slam against so hard all your armor shatters - pauldrons and gauntlets.

Christ. You stand up, the feeling of shattered bones fades slowly as Marrowmaw lands before you, winding up for a kick. You're starting to feel dizzy - you've never fought this long or hard, and it's starting to take a toll on your body unrelated to physical harm.

And more of the metal covers your body. Gauntlets return, pauldrons return, and now you have a chestplate and fauld. You feel your cloak become heavy chainmail. You rise, clinking, and smile wide.

Which is the perfect moment for Marrowmaw to reach through the gate you're standing in, and grab you, pulling you out and holding you up with a wide grin. Then again, it's the only expression he is capable of.

"Got... You..." he rumbles, rearing back and throwing you down. You slam hard into the rock, cracking it, but your armor doesn't give.

His foot slams into your back, but the armor doesn't give.

He wheels back as you get up, and kicks you through a gate, but your armor doesn't give. And as you fly out the gate opposite the circle he's standing in, into his backhand, your breastplate finally shatters, and your Fauld gives way.

You barely manage to speak as it closes in, raising a fist.

You look around, taking in the cartoonish city with bright windows. Random people, slight variations of yourself, wander the streets as Shadow watches.

"Neat, huh? Not a whole lot of people see this." he says.

It looks like it's modeled off of something.

"Gotham." you finish. Not so much the actual city, but the architecture, the style, the looks and feels. And yet, while it feels dangerous, it's also warm, like an open fire.

Shadow nods.
"Feeling alright?"

"It's nice to have a little peace and quiet." you admit.

"I could take you here whenever you like." he admits. "But... Well, it'd bring us closer if I did it on purpose."

"I'm just... I feel so frantic."

"Mayhaps you're focusing improperly. When was the last time you did something for you? You may rail Thomas for his selfish behavior, but he isn't laying in a Nightmare talking to what amounts to his libido."

"The feeling of being admired, desired, and beloved." he says with a grin. "The feeling of exposure and danger, of risk. Bravery, confidence..." he shrugs. "It's all tied together in a lump of 'I want people to look'. It's hard to define."

You lean back on the bench.

She sighs.

"Because it was here or die." she says flatly. "If you want me to kill you rather than associate with rebel scum, I can do that, quick and clean, and dump your body wherever you want. But if you'll listen, maybe you'll get that not everyone wants to ram a red hot poker up your ass and call it 'justice'." she huffs. "Sorry."

You swing your legs out of the bed. "Honestly, I don't know your problem with me, your samu-WOAHSHIT"

The power overwhelms you and you let out a slow breath, feeling the world get overtaken in a slow haze. you beckon them over, eyes halflidded.
"Get... get naked." you manage, grasping the girl's skirt. It comes away a little easier than you expect, showing a smooth, soft sex devoid of hair that you touch without thinking. The girl giggles, leaning into your inexpert fingers, sliding over the slightly wet flesh that you feel twitching beneath the skin. She lets out little happy sounds as her brother sighs. You barely understand what he says, as he drops his pants, and you look upon seven smooth inches, slightly red, twitching for attention. Your other hand moves to it, slowly stroking.

You feel your body buzzing as the hard cock in your hand slides forwards and back, your other fingers sliding inside the blonde. The two of them slide out of their clothes, reaching down to fondle your slight breasts as you gasp. The scratchy bedsheet, the soft gown rubbing against your skin and their hands firmly fondling you in slow circles only bid you to speed yourself further, groaning.

The young man is fit and smooth, with pale, pale skin. He grunts as you work, shadows squirming beneath your fingers stimulating him further as you feel something moving around your fingers in the girl's sex.

You8 barely look towards the man as he gasps, muttering something in japanese - and covering your face rather liberally in sticky white fluids. Meanwhile, his sister lets out a louder sound, gripping the bedside as her body shakes and her sex grips your fingers. Your hands fall to your sides as the feelings pass, and the world stops being pink.

Oh god.
Your face is covered in semen.

You think you're going to vomit.

You watch the band light up brightly, then it spins, hissing as you scream in pain. The flesh is seared as the band shrinks, going through the skin. You feel someone grasp your other hand, and the pain diminishes, but not enough as it digs through the muscle, searing away nerves and muscle, numbing the pain as the heat becomes great enough to make the cut instant.

And with a sound you will remember forever, your arm falls away from your body onto the floor, and you pant, looking at the stump with shock.

"Stay calm." Janine says, working quickly to treat the wound.

Within half an hour, the wound is dressed. Looks like you're left handed now.

As far as I'm concerned, both organizations are run by jackasses and have jackass policies.

Honestly, breaking everything down and saving/helping our friends doesn't sound like a bad idea as long as we consider every non-jackass a friend.

We fucked up against the skeleton. We have to admit that.

Yes, the projectile immunity and not being able to run away from him was annoying. But we should have seen the second one coming, we knew the area was full of gates. We need to pay more attention to our surroundings.

We'd have been in a lot better spot if we used Protect Ball and damage prevention instead of healing. Though it was not looking good when we burnt 4 of our Tokens on something he no-selled, against a big demon we shouldn't try to immediately throw huge attacks at it, test it out first and make sure there aren't any tricks. Just plain FatF Bats would've worked, if we get a single burst they'll almost certainly go off.

The point of this isn't to complain about the past, but make sure we don't repeat mistakes.

Yes, we definitely could have still lost even if we used Protect Ball, it could've maybe grabbed and squeezed and popped it, but it would have been a good way to hurt it if it tried to punch us as it redirects the force backwards as well as blocking it. If something is trying to punch us Protect Ball hurts it just as much as it protects us, assuming a good roll which we can generally expect with a Heart spell.

"It's not -personally- your fault, but I blame your organization just as much as I do Otto."

She nods.

"I know. The Council and the Magi are equally terrible. There's no oversight, there's no rules, there's just exploitation of everyone for the goals of the higher ups." she says. "And every day two or three people come through here, and every week, one or two die."

She sits on the bed next to you.

What a horrible time to lose a trip.
>>
And like that, we are at War with the Rebellion and the Magi at the same time.
>>
>>29400697
You honestly sound like you're complaining for the sake of complaining.
>>
>>29400697
It greatly lessons the impact of the fights and fucks over the players when there's no respite or time for character progression and preparation before the next fight when there is nothing but the next fight.

Its all about spacing them out, to learn from the previous one, to develop for the next one and progress as a character, when you just jump straight into the next one without any of the crucial first steps in the order of the story, it just fucks everything over and does no allow the players to evolve the character or learn from previous fights, and when they get harder and harder, without progressing between them, without downtime, it just becomes an unfair grind that you cannot recover from.
>>
>>29400735
The problem is we need at least one Magi on our side I think.

And I don't know if that's Atropos.

Well, that's certainly one way to end an arc.
>>
>>29400735
Humility could you please take a look at the scales for venting and changes. Because as it is now I do not think we will ever have another temporary change.
>>
>>29400756

>>
>>29400777
Wasn't the previous scale like 19 for permie? I feel like it's way too spaced out now.
>>
>>29400798
Face it Humility, your readers don't know what the fuck they want.
>>
>>29400798
There was quite a long drought of just dicking around and doing normal stuff. Pacing kind of gets away from you in a quest, since it's kind of an editing thing, but there was like 5 solid threads of just drama. We had downtime from fights but it wasn't downtime from the schemes and magical girl shit, we were stuck dealing with fallout.
>>
>>29400827
I'm not saying we should lower for permie I am saying that the window for a temporary needs to be bigger. Right now it is 10 and at least half of that is going to be covered by taint. With that system we will probably never get a temporary. Just vents and permies.
>>
>>29400878
Taint resets, though and it's supposed to close the window on other changes in favor of a permie.

Really, the problem is that the window for vents are too large.

Ah, so threads where nothing much is happening, right, and you're free to do what you please?
>>
>>29400798
Of those threads there was maybe 1/2 a thread of actual downtime, the Hunts are not the sole thing that can be defined as the 'fight' or 'climax' of the chapters/arcs/whatever you decide to call them, many other things, encounters and whatnot can also fit into the category of climaxes in the story chapters.

Not that nothing much is happening, per say, but rather what's happening isn't some huge hyper tense situation that makes us feel like we need to rush or get back to the fight. You know, low stakes and a bit of breathing room where we can -feel- like we're allowed to do what we want for a while.

I haven't felt like we've had time for ourselves in a long time.

So you HAVE been railroading us.
>>29400793
There was no preparation. We literally went downtime -> fight -> curbstomp.
There was no way we were ever going to beat that skeleton. I mean, he removed our ally ON THE FIRST FUCKING TURN, then beat the shit out of us, then teleported us off to fucking JAPAN somehow.
There is no player agency in this quest. If we don't do what Humility wants us to do, we get nothing. If we ACCIDENTALLY follow his master plan, we accelerate the plot immensely.
We know NOTHING about how the world works, and we've apparently agreed to tear it down. That is not what I voted for.
>>
>>29400939
I think your spending too much time focused on getting the system perfect and neglecting constructing and telling the story, with the massive tonal shifts from the last few threads and the flip flopping all over the place of the character and stories actions/paths its becoming a more evident
>>
>>29400939

There were three ARCs that could have been selected.

Legend of the Breaker is the arc where you destroy EVERYTHING.

Hound of the Magi is the arc where you destroy the Rebels.

And finally, Shadow's Side is the arc where you destroy the Magi.

I've not been railroading you - at least I've been trying not to.

Dude, thats pretty much railroading.

You picked the Mass Effect 3 ending system, and its fucking shite.
>>
>>29400952
Also, to add to this. One of my main issues with the lack of breathers is less the actual lack of breathers and more that we're playing a person going through a lot of changes physically and mentally and he never has time to actually get used to them because of all the other shit he has to deal with.

It's hard to care about what Mike is going through as a girl or a magical girl because all I'm seeing is how he's fighting shit.
>>
>>29400766
I really don't think we can trust Atropos.

Remember the memory Bart dredged up from Adrianne, Which was Atropos saying "I'm telling you. I'm telling you, the world darkness goes BOTH WAYS around those kids! If we put them in the right places... Do you guys hear something?"

Also, Atropos is in charge of the United States, it's in his area where a Demon used a Font as a Nightmare and then later a Demon escaped from its Nightmare.

Add to this the redacted document, dated for a few years ago that we read.

< _______ says that we should be able to test the effects of the Key on normal humans within as soon as a few years. While we have every bit of faith in Magus _______, we should have ____ handle the facility we will use. We will begin testing then, to see what occurs.

If we are lucky, the presumed effects will allow us to operate with Deputized Magi more freely, in accordance with the rules set forth by the Magi Round Table, without losing effectiveness. If things go even slightly better than that, we may be able to _______ them __________ through the ________ and the _____ .Defending the _____ will be paramount in this time, if Demons attack them during this time it will all come up in our face.

There will be individuals who rally against us. Make certain they are eliminated.>"

I'm pretty willing to say that the Magus in this is Atropos and they recently started testing the effects. I'm guessing that using the Key on a normal human makes the world darkness flow both ways around them, whatever that means, but since it says that the Deputized Magi can act more freely I'm guessing some wide-area brain fuckery and maybe mind control.
>>
>>29400970
>So you HAVE been railroading us.
No shit he has. He wanted this all along, which is why he made both the Council and the Magi into incompetent shitbags who are terrible people on every level. It would be one thing if their terribleness got results, but so far we have just been TOLD how necessary they are, since whenever we see them in action they fucking suck.
>>
>>29400735

yeah, we're a support class in a very heavily teamwork oriented system, why the fuck he ever even thought to make us fight solo when it goes against every bit of character development we've voted towards is baffling
>>
>>29400939
While we're at it, I'd like to have more interaction with people that is not open hostilities or compulsive fucking.
If you're having a smut scene going, make it worthwhile, but don't just have us fall through a succession of fighting and fucking with a side dish of emotional troubles.
The end to this one was quite nice in that regard, if pretty forced in terms of plot development.
But look at it like this: Traumatic end to a fight, rage, helplessness and confusion, threesome, mutilation, revolution!

That was pretty damn fast going.
>>
>>29401001
You mean, rushing into a fight unprepared got you hurt? Who would have thought? It's almost like you decided to go on a hunt without grabbing necessary supplies, allies, or weapons.

>>29401018
So what would you have wanted to do? No matter what you decided, those three ate quite broad. If you don't rebel, and align with the Magi, they will strongarm you into eliminating the resistance. If you rebel agaisnt the Magi, then guess what, you're working for an organization whose main intent is to destroy them. And if you take neither, you have to end them both to survive.

Also, I didn't want to spoil this, but you're not in Japan right now.
>>

Yeah, ironically, our batman themed character is terrible at being a loner.
>>
Seriously, taking out Thomas first thing when we picked a support build was a dick move. If we had known you were going to go that route we would have gone Fury or Pure.
>>
>>29400970
We could've put a lot better showing up against that skeleton. We were rash and made serious mistakes.

We didn't use Protect Ball, we started off by throwing 4 tokens at an attack instead of sizing up our opponent, we thought an enemy that goes through gates in an area full of gates could be run away from. Healing damage is less efficient than preventing it, in the future don't try to heal through damage, prevent it and heal it when we have breathing room.

It would've been a hard fight, but not unwinnable if we played it smart.
>>
>>29401074

You have given us NO time to sit and think about what we're doing, no time to talk other characters about it, no information with which to make a decision.
>>29401074
>It's almost like you decided to go on a hunt without grabbing necessary supplies, allies, or weapons.
OUR CHARACTER DOES NOT KNOW THAT ANY OF THOSE THINGS EVEN EXIST, LET ALONE ARE NECESSARY.
You removed our ONLY ally from that fight as soon as it started, and prevented him from returning. You did this solely to ensure that we would lose, so that you could justify being rescued by the Rebels.

The issue is that other people wanted time to learn how shit works before making the decision. I'm fine so long as we don't jump in and stupidly try to fight the big wigs in 2 threads.

Honestly, picking a side early on isn't bad, it means we're gathering info for a purpose instead of sitting on it forever.
>>
>>29401232
We aren't exactly good at our job, either. Mostly because HUMILITY is intentionally keeping us in the dark about the world and how it works so that he can railroad us more easily.
>>
>>29401105
Wait...did you just imply that Tommy boy left us there intentionally?

I wonder if that had anything to do with his threat to us about hurting is sister?
>>
>5-minute voting periods
>railroaded choices
>deliberately leaving out important details
10/10 would suck op's dick
>>
>>29401105
AND WHY DIDN'T WE KNOW THIS MANY THREADS AGO?

why are we only finding these things out after you railroad us into fucked up situations and the thread explodes and how you've run us into the ground?
>>
>>29401286
>Mike isn't the chosen one
>It's his shadow
>>
>>29401234
Or it is a sign that the QM needs to step up his fucking game, since his quest is getting increasingly unfun for all involved.
>>
>>29401247

Also, for god's sake, I never said you couldn't change your mind. Simply that this is what you've chosen for now.

>>29401256
I am shamed that I just realized I never said that. I thought I had, somewhere in the first few threads, but... I didn't.

So I'm sorry about that. Marrowmaw could have gone better - the loss wasn't entirely your fault. While you did approach it inproperly, that was my fault for improperly showing you what you could do. We all screwed up, but mostly because I screwed up. There was a lot of screwing of ups!

Next thread will almost certainly be learning about the world, the interactions between Rebels and Magi, and why both are necessary.
>>
People, the goal of this is not to bitch about things, the goal is to prevent us from getting stomped by a Demon next time. They're tough, welcome to life as a Magical Girl.

This is not a kind world, this is not a fair world, if we're smart we may be able to find some happiness in it. If we want to survive we learn, we pay attention, and we think tactically.

If we're going out hunting we go in a group of 3 when we go hunting, not 2, and definitely not alone. We do not split the party. We do not try to alpha strike the demon, we find its weaknesses first. We examine the environment and what it says about the Demon.

We don't know because we never before wondered about how Nightmares worked. We now know and can act on that knowledge in the future.

Don't mistake difficulty for railroading, there's a difference.
>>
>>29401317
Not me I'm still having fun, though usually I just lurk and read the archived quests because I like storytime.
>>
>>29401286
That's a side effect of us not being informed though.
>>
>>29401323
>We all screwed up
No, YOU screwed up by hiding everything from us and then punishing us for trial and error.
>>
>>29401323
>Also, for god's sake, I never said you couldn't change your mind. Simply that this is what you've chosen for now.
This is exactly what 'choosing an arc' implies.
>>
>>29401323
I hope you take into account that you've been rushing things and that we're far away from being ready for breaking systems.

It's fine to start on this early and make a solid decision. But these kind of plan needs to take a long time to reach fruition.
>>
>>29401213

I'd actually been assuming that we'd start by attempting to recruit allies, like Sally and possibly Atropos. We're going to need allies to explain shit, provide much-needed firepower, and act as spies. Thomas gets us an in with the MIB. Jean and/or Sally get us an in with Magical Girls. Janine gets us an in with the Rebellion. And *hopefully* Atropos can get us an in with the Magi.
>>
>>29401304
fuckign seriously HUMILITY, I really want to enjoy this quest like I did when it started up and you took the reigns, but your making it awfully fucking hard, it just ain't fun anymore, the terrible pacing, the constant lack of information and nigh deliberate withholding of crucial information such as the shit you said in >>29401105 which we SHOULD HAVE KNOW BEFORE WE EVEN GOT INTO OUR FIRST FIGHT, the stupidly ramped up difficulty and grind, the lack of time to process things

this just ain't fun anymore
>>
>>29401365
He literally just apologized.
>>
>>29401353
I really don't think we can trust Atropos. He's about as suspicious as they get.
>>
>>29401348
Yeah this.

We need knowledge, power, and allies. And most importantly patience.
>>
>>29401348
>I hope you take into account that you've been rushing things and that we're far away from being ready for breaking systems.

>It's fine to start on this early and make a solid decision. But these kind of plan needs to take a long time to reach fruition.

Yeah, I need to gather my notes and pull things properly together.

People wouldn't argue this hard if they didn't like something, or at least, parts of it, and I need to do that passion justice. Expect the next thread to be a while.
>>
>>29401382
agreed
>>
>>29401271
It's just people going buttmad because they feel betrayed as things don't go their way.
They obviously feel entitled to having the ability to avoid bad outcomes from collective bad decisions and uninformed choices.
Even if they obviously drive the plot forward.
I find it very petty to yell at OP for not holding hands and being forgiving.
This world is deadly and evil. And it got us in the ass. Time to buckle up and fuck it right back.
>>
>>29401323
>Next thread will almost certainly be learning about the world, the interactions between Rebels and Magi, and why both are necessary.
Don't jump straight into the fucking fallout and preparation of the next fight immediately, let things mellow, let us and the character get a LOT of downtime to recover, to process what we've learned, then, when we're ready, start with the preparation, the learning and intel gathering.

There is an order to these things in good storytelling, and fucking up that order just shits on everything, its that problem, along with some others, that were left festering, building up over time, to be unleashed in this thread when shit hit the fan, for both how the players ran things, and how you ran the quest.
>>
Are you people legitimately fucking serious? You play a character like you think you're the fucking MC, and rant about when you get treated like it?
We're in clearly over our head with a demon - Conveyed with a fucking sledgehammer combo of thomas getting knocked out ( out of the fucking zone too, making it clear that you can leave it you fuckdamn retards) as well as Humility showcasing its ridiculous strength, with it hitting us despite haste - And you fight it.
Solo.
You fucking stand there and fight it. You don't look for thomas, you don't retreat, you don't hit yourself with every buff we've got to prepare, which isn't our fucking specialty or anything.
And we get our ass beat, and the response to this, and to continued warning messages of our character getting tired is to blow everything we have on a single shot.
This isn't even railroading, we played like a fucking idiot.
>>
>>29401220

The important thing is to see if it survive, implosion happen to every quest out there.
>>
>>29401323
>the loss wasn't entirely your fault
I'm sorry, WHAT? How was it our fault AT ALL? YOU are the one that removed Thomas AT THE START OF THE FIGHT. YOU are the one that prevented him from coming back in. YOU are the one that decided that it should have immunity to one of our strongest attacks, massive physical strength, and the ability TO FUCKING TELEPORT ON TOP OF US AT WILL.
We poured everything we had into that final attack and only HALF-killed it.
>>
>>29401343
fucking this, this entire thread could have been avoided if HUMILITY didn't keep us in the dark, and force us into these stupidly difficult (for our characters situation) scenarios unprepared.

we went into this thread unprepared, not because we didn't prepare, but because HUMILITY ensured we would not be possibly ready for this fight by withholding all this crucial info and fucking things up with terrible pacing
>>
So a list of things that has messed up here:

>Pacing
This is the biggest one and essentially the root cause of all the other complaints. Things are simply happening way too fucking fast.

>Lack of info
Part of this is you not giving us the info, part of it is never having time to get the info(again, pacing).

>Downtime
We do get downtime, put it's not the kind of down time we can actually, well, use properly. It's more about dealing with fallout of the plot or preparing for the next rush of it. As an anon said before, Mike is going through a lot of changes but he never deals with them because he's always dealing with the plot. We need serious breathers, not just an in-betweener for the next scheme or fight or serious moment.
>>
>>29401323
>Also, for god's sake, I never said you couldn't change your mind. Simply that this is what you've chosen for now.
Once again, thats not what you conveyed and what we interpreted, this keeps happening, and you've got to step up your game if you don't want it to ruin everything like it just did today
>>
>>29401323
>and why both are necessary.
And we have to exterminate at least one faction...

Ok, we need an insane scheme to replace the power vacuum. Any ideas?
>>
>>29401475
And we're the ones that fought like a god damned idiot. We went out hunting without preparation, without a full team, decided to keep on fighting, didn't use a single defensive spell against a bruiser, didn't evaluate its capabilities before throwing more than half our tokens at it.

We fought like a moron, we need to improve on that and we won't improve if people insist we didn't ever do anything wrong.
>>
>>29401475
We used bazooker bat, but fo serial chillax brudda. QMs provide a service for free, appreciate it and don't walk on their dicks with cleats if they mess something up once.
>>
>>29401475
See >>29401461
>>
>>29401353
well its too late for that now after the clusterfuck he railroaded us through
>>
>>29401522
We appoint Bart as Head Magic Guy of the world
>>
>>29401461
We had no indication that retreat was even possible. None whatsoever.
>>
>>29401406
So, status:
We are angrily shittalking about going full Che, being a glorious two-girl revolution at this point.
We have no inkling where we are, what's up and who might be missing us by now.
It is time to get shit sorted out before actually moving.
Better hold the lewd for a bit and have us do some level-headed talking for a bit.
>>
>>29401553
>Character makes a private decision to recruit allies and try and change a system
>recruits one person, talks about recruiting more
>too late to recruit people or get information
Maybe its time to lean back and breathe there.
>>
>>29401575
Still didn't look for Thomas or play smart at all.

Seriously, we're a fucking support class massively outmatched and we stopped to look for our ally.
>>
>>29401406
take your time to get it right, hopefully thing will mellow out

but also, don't forget to take your/our time in the quests story itself, lots of shit has just happened, and as a character, we need a big fuckign break to even begin to start processing it all, let alone do that while dealing with having our arm amputated for no fucking reason and dealing with the shitbird Thomas, who essentially just won the quest, from his point of view, understand that, what he just achieved, is our final goal, everything we're working towards, and he got handed it on a silver platter while you shit on us, and dealing with our relationship with Carrie and everyfuckingthing else.

dude, we need fucking time
>>
>>29401609
How exactly were we supposed to look for Thomas? Hmm?
>>
>>29401506
This.

Seriously HUMILITY, study this as its everything you need to fix.
>>
>>29401553
Right, because there's no possible way we could stage a breakout (or even fake it) and get back home. With the right break out story, we could even dangle the temptation of an Umbral Rebel rebel to Atropos to see if he'll bite, much the way he did on the sapient heartspawn (Bart).
>>
>>29401609
We had a giant fucking skeleton on us, which was fast enough to hit us WHILE HASTED, and capable of teleportation. Also, Tom was knocked OUT of the Nightmare, so looking for him would never have worked.
>>
>>29401626
By fucking following him where he got blasted out.

It specifically fucking said he fell through a gate and dissapeared.

Ever thought of, you know, going through the fucking gate?
>>
>>29401575
>Thomas knocked clear out of zone
>No way to retreat
We didn't look, didn't so much as ask.
Don't try to pin everything on the QM when shit goes wrong.
>>
>>29401652
We didn't know he left the Nightmare. Hell, part of this whole bitchfit is because anons assumed you couldn't get out of the Nightmare.

We saw him go through a gate. We could have fucking went through it too.
>>
>>29401665
I will pin shit on the QM when it is the QM's fault, and this is clearly the QM's fault.
But I guess you're too busy trying to suck his dick to see that.
>>
>>29401665
we fought like shit and thats our fault, but this never would have happened if it was not for the QMs issues RE >>29401506

If the QM had his shit together, we'd have our shit together, but because he does not, it is directly hampering our efforts to get our shit together
>>
>>29401659
While on the subject of the gates
>Fucking skellington only appears from witihin them
>Don't destroy them or try to stay away from them
>It's teleporting, how can we deal with it
>>
>>29401706
People need to seriously CHILL, people flipper wipperin out over miscommunications. This is how we lose QMs
>>
>>29401461
>>29401659
>>29401698
>>29401719
I completely agree that Humility dropped the ball hard? But all this? This is shit we knew and I'm beginning to think anons are just upset that they actually lost.
>>
>>29401719
We didn't have time to do anything about the gates because of the GIANT FUCKING SKELETON which was apparently fast enough to cover the same distance as us WHILE WE WERE HASTED in a single turn.
>>
>>29401793
yup, people saying we could have retreated are ignoring the fact that we literally had no breathing room. It was either battle or get smashed.
>>
>>29401793
The Skeleton that was only fast because it was popping out of the gates.
>>
>>29401786
>This is shit we knew
No it isn't. Hell, the skeleton knocked us through a gate and we came out where HE wanted. At no point was it indicated that the gates led anywhere but to other gates.
>>
>>29401793
You do remember how it came out of gates far too small for it, and it was mentioned that the place was fucking covered in gates.

It could teleport between them, you know, because magic.

One thing that could help this is for Humility to take more time doing combat and attack descriptions, but honestly we had the information we needed to guess that was going to happen, we just didn't utilize it.
>>
>>29401786
>This is shit we knew
Not really, all of our fuckups in the fight can be traced back to the QM dropping the ball hard, the problems he introduced into the quest just festered and made things worse for us

Essentially we were playing a completely different quest to what the QM was running because of their problems.

Its like we bought a V8 and got delivered a V6, but never realized because it was well camouflaged, then when it does shit itself, it fucking explodes
>>
>>29401793
>>29401821
Every time we haste we get x free turns before the enemy gets another turn. We spent our free turns trying to beat on a boss character with the support caster.
>>
>>29401821
Actually, when we used Shadow Step and Light Speed we had breathing room to do shit, and if we kept that up we could have had more.

Instead we healed ourselves and went back to fighting it.

>>29401839
>when you go through a gate you come out other gates
>the skeleton is going through gates
>>
HUMILITY, fucking seriously, now is a great time for "IT WAS ALL A DREAM" and we wake up finding out that it was a minor demon that just knocked us out that Thomas finished off.

Because the issues that led to the problems in this thread, have permanently derailed our character and the plot, and not at the fault of our actions.
>>
>>29401854
The game is hard, congratulations. Hard doesn't mean railroad or the it's the QM's fault.

Look at our discussing during the fight, nothing about tactics, nothing about potential strengths and weaknesses of the enemy, nothing about defenses, we just went with the flow and got stomped.

We knew all we needed to know about the gates. We knew it was doing physical attacks and didn't drop a Protect Ball on ourself and decided to try healing through the damage.

We will never get better if we refuse to admit any failing. We fucked up.
>>
>>29401887
No. Fuck no. Retcons are invariably the worst fucking thing you can do in a quest.
>>
>>29401887
>>29401915
This AT THE MOST we should get a free core, and I don't think we deserve it
>>
>>29401887
Retcons are bullshit and cause more problems than they solve.

I don't think everyone was too terribly interested in being the bitch to either side and Mike's clearly showed that he has no preference for eithe so it's fine if he just starts fixing things here and makes us really prepare for what we intend to do.
>>
>>29401915
the worst thing you can do in a quest is what HUMILITY just did in this one, it effectively killed the quest, the character we are playing has been replaced by something we don't even recognise, let alone control with our actions, and the story is now completely nonsensical and randomly driven by actions that were twisted versions of what we voted for, with reversed tone and intent, effectively not even our actions anymore, because what happened, what our character did, was not what we voted for
>>
Meh. This setting was too brutal for me, anyway.
>>
Well I just manually updated the archive.

HUMILITY, I hope you come back and study this thread after things have cooled down and we've all got level heads, and that you can get useful constructive criticism our of it and learn and improve, because the alternative means quest death, which I wouldn't want for something that was so enjoyable once upon a time.
>>
>>29401964
The fuck are you talking about?

Deciding that the world deserves better than what we've got is what we were gonna do eventually.

Just wish it was put off until we were better informed.
>>
>>29401887
>derailed our character and the plot
Umm, no. Things were RUSHED, not derailed.

This was what I felt was going to happen from the very beginning honestly. I'm just surprised it happened so soon.

Mike has always, always, felt that everyone is being an idiot and doing things horribly wrong for the sort of right reasons and has called both sides just different types of jackasses.

it's the exact same character, we just hit the fast forward button.
>>
this is fucking awesome.

can't wait for next thread HUMI!
>>
>>29401887
>derailed
>players voted to do this
Mhm.
>>
>>29401964
>it effectively killed the quest
Not seeing how. HUMILITY hasn't said anything about the quest being kill, and the next thread hasn't run yet.

>the character we are playing has been replaced by something we don't even recognise, let alone control with our actions
I recognize him pretty easily, not sure what you're talking about. This was a logical progression for Mike, it just happened way too fucking fast.

>and the story is now completely nonsensical and randomly driven by actions that were twisted versions of what we voted for,
What.
>>
I agree with the more information entiment but personally I prefer this.

I like that the MC was proactive enough to take a stand early on rather than sit on his fucking thumbs waiting for info or something horrible to happen to finally kick him into gear. It's refreshing to see a lack of indecisiveness and a clear goal rather than just sitting there reacting and being ground between the stones.

An early start isn't bad. But Humility needs to slow things way the fuck down from here.
>>
>>29402079
We voted to say 'there must be a way' not 'I'M GONNA BURN IT ALL'.
>>
>>29401323
>I never said you couldn't change your mind
That is what choosing an arc implies, that said route was locked in place.

You really need to choose your words better.
>>
>>29402156
I think you need to look closely at the write-ins incorporated into that update.

People voting for that option were obviously planning a third faction to oppose the other two.
>>
>>29401406
>People wouldn't argue this hard if they didn't like something
I always felt this line of reasoning was entirely bogus. /tg/ will argue for years about shit they don't like.

Take Kenders, for example.
>>
>>29402131
> But Humility needs to slow things way the fuck down from here.
Fucking this, because we're getting burnt out hard and everything is suffering because of it
>>
>>29402156
Read that update again, bro.

It was "there must be a way." Specifically, it was "we'll find away."

Mike wants to change things, and he wanted Janine's help. He never said he was burning it all, just that he wanted her help finding another way to the system.

Well, duh. Because that's what you fucking voted for.

You're acting like bringing down both sides isn't the goal of opposing both sides. We chose to oppose both sides. Just because you don't understand what that means doesn't mean you got derailed. It means you don't understand what you voted for.
>>
>>29402231
People bitch about Kenders because it's a bad thing involved in something they DO like.

Just like this thread is a bad thing in something they otherwise like.

>It means you don't understand what you voted for.
I.. what?
>>
>>29402401
i feel like he could have used a more appropriate sentence
>>
>>29402509
If you seriously don't understand what it means to go against both systems with the reasoning that they're corrupt I don't know what to tell you.
>>
>>29402502
No, they bitch about kenders because it is fun to tear down and analyze precisely everything someone did wrong.
>>
>>29402571
And if they never liked D&D or roleplaying or creating fantasy races they never would have cared enough to bitch in the first place.
>>
>>29402595
By that logic, you just have to like quests in general to have a reason to argue about Humility and his QMing ability.
>>
>>29402550
No. I'm confused as to why you think that's what I voted for.
I did not indicate, in any way, a desire to tear down the current system. I voted to change the current one.
