>What is this?

The King of Fighters Quest is a developing Choose Your Own Adventure-style quest in which you take on the role of Katja Hartkern, an Austrailian Aborgine practioner of Kyokugen Karate and guide her towards joining a team for "The King of Fighters: Infinite Match".

Decisions are made by voting, with the first option to earn up to three or more winning; Combat choices are made via Rolls, with the highest roll or average out of the first three submissions winning. (These rules also apply in the case of multiple options with Rolls.) In the event of a tie in regards to combat options, the option with the most votes wins, with NO ROLLING after a Tie has been declared.

>Summary:

You thought about it for a little bit, but ultimately accepted Yuri Sakazaki's offer to join her and King as the Third Member of "The Women's Team" in the upcoming "King of Fighters; Infinite Match" tournament. Partly to cellibrate but mostly to begin to "Step-Up" your training, the two of you went out into the garden behind the Kyokugen's New Dojo to spar, though you had the upper hand over Yuri the entire time and stopped the match early when you felt that she wasn't fighting at her best.

After admitting to you that she was off her game due to being a little hung-over and after getting snubbed on a date by her long-time boyfriend Robert Garcia the previous night (As well as seeing him cavorting with another woman hanging off of his arm), the two of you resolved to train for the rest of the day... Which ended in a bittersweet way for you, as while you were able to perform a New Dream Move, you were also struck by lightning and had to be taken to the hospital, your current medical condition not looking too good...

From there, we took a brief look at a day in the life of Robert Garcia as he negotiated the Television Rights contract his family holds for The King of Fighters Tournaments with the CEO of "The Paragon Group", Jean-Claude Gabriel, who's behind hosting the "Infinite Match". After sensing something was off about the whole meeting (The breaking point being asked to sign three copies of the same contract while using a suspicious-looking Thumbtack to use for a blood identifier), you stormed out of his office and headed to the Kagura Clinic to offer Yuri moral suppport after what had happend to Katja.

Interestingly, we then briefly looked at Yuri & Robert's confrontation through Yuri's point-of-view... And while she didn't exactly break up with Robert, their relationship has started to cool off before getting back on track as Katja once more, going through her subconscious yet again...

This time, you found yourself in a massive, ornately deccorated room in what felt like a European Castle. Though nothing seemed to bother you at first and you were able to go through a near-full routine of stretches, the lack of any real noise AT ALL, along with your complete lack of clothes, heightened your paranoia and lead to you take a bath to try and relax...

Unfortunately, this tranquility didn't last long as a Japanese Demon calling himself "Raiden" (And dressed up in an outfit resembling the Pro-Wrestler of the same name) blasted through your bathroom door, his eyes on you as he couldn't stop staring at your navel... Using quick thinking, you pretended to be in distress, but were able to get around his bulky frame by "Riding the Lightning" and are now behind him, wondering what to do next...

You hop away from Raiden as he lumbers around, knocking his head on the arch of the door as he stomps the ground, a bolt of Electricity raining down form above you as try to dodge it.

Unfortunately, the bolt's larger than you expected as you get hit by it, though you try to shake away the pain as you Ukemi out of it, only to nearly run into another one as Raiden walks towards you, his feet bellows "A spry one, Eh? I can wait; I LIKE to play a little before a nice meal..."

You start to panic at his words as more Lightning Bolts descend; You can't seem to catch a break and get hit by the blast radius of a few of them before getting hit directly by one of them, your body convulsing in place as you struggle to stand upright.

Your eyes widen as you regain your focus, only to hear Raiden yell "DROP-KICK!", His voice thundering as you get hit by his massive, outstretched feet, the impact cannoning you straight across the room and nearly into the wall of the room. You slowly start to get up when you see him roll towards you five times, then launch another Dropkick at you...

Your eyes widen as you watch Raiden's feet fly towards you, the damage his last attack still evident in your abdominals as you grit your teeth and try to leap over his next Dropkick...

Unfortunately, you only just barely clear his legs as he crashes into the wall behind you and you try to "Cross Him Up" with a Hard Kick to his head, but you're not high enough off the ground to really do enough damage to stun him long enough for a follow-up strike when you land as he recovers far quicker than you'd expect.

Then you see it; A Flash in one instant as he grabs you, squeezing your body tight enough you can barely breath as he then does Two Powerbombs, the last one knocking the wind out of you as you look at him leering down at you, an obviously creepy vibe coming from him as he snorts "Some 'Warrior' you are! You look up at this increasingly-sleazy sounding Demon and briefly fear for the worst, flashes of an incident you had near the end of your highschool years popping into your head... You half-expect him to put a booted foot on your stomach to keep you from going anywhere, but he doesn't; He's acting this fight's already over, laughing heartily to no one in particular and flexing his arms up to kiss his biceps...

Felling like it's now or never, you quietly get up off the ground and deliver the Strongest Kohou Uppercut you can muster, a trail of lightning following your fist's upward arc.

While the attack DOES hit him, he blocks the trailing edge of the Lightning Trail and grabs you the second your feet hit the ground, putting you in a Bearhug as he squeezes you tighter than you thought could be possible as you weakly knee him in the stomach to try and get him to let you go...

You put thoughts of holding back out of our mind as you press on the offense, every single fibre of your body screaming at you to stop and Raiden simply grinning like a madman, keen on just simply laying back and taunting you while you keep attacking his lower body and abdomen as your reach not quite long enough to hit his head, even with your kicks (Making you wonder "Just how bloody tall is he? 7 and a Half feet?")

After a few more hits, Raiden finally starts to counter some of your weaker strikes with the quickest jabs and kicks of his own; While they wouldn't have thrown you off had they hit you earlier, in your weakend state you have to force yourself to keep your momentum up and charge through the pain as you force him out into the open expanse of the room, your golden glow starting to fade...

Sensing your desperation, Raiden attempts to grab you with a "Desperation" Move of his own, though you use all of your speed to BARELY escape his grasp and hit him with the strongest "Ryokuo Ranbuu" you feel like you've ever done, hitting him up to 34 times with your fists and feet before blasting him back with an over-sized ball of Electricity, energy coursing through your hand and knocking him over to near your bed in the corner as you drop down onto one knee. holding your hand to try and stop the pain from overcomming you...

Your head is throbbing, your body is exhausteded beyond belief after so little time fighting and your vision is slightly blurry, but youkeep your eyes focused on Raiden as he gets up out of the corner, gives you a quick look and slowly gets into a Rugby Player's hunch before charging towards you like a freight train, still looking squarely at you.

You stare him down as he rushes towards you, playing a game of "Chicken" with him before you feel confident that he's within range... Then you dig deep and launch another Kohou, rising high in the sky as you close your eyes, hoping you feel your fist connect to his face.

Then you feel a sense of dread overcome you as you open your eyes and look down, seeing Raiden looking up and smiling at you for a split-second before jumping and grabbing you in mid-air before slamming you back down onto the ground (A "Flying DDT") back over near the farthest wall of the room (The same Wall Raiden crashed into and left a mark with his Dropkick).

You brace yourself for the absolute worst thing you can think of as you struggle to stay awake, breathing heavily and wondering hazily if it would be better to just close your eyes as Raiden lecherously leers down at you, a creepy grin on his face... when suddenly, you hear a loud crash and see him get knocked over, his huge body thankfully flying over yours and landing near you as a tall man built like a greek god towers over you, his inhuman face (One of an Eagle). seemingly scowls over at Raiden as he crosses his arms.

As you start to sit up slowly, checking your body's reaction as you do, you note that everything feels... Well, fine. Whatever injuries you had felt from the fight with Raiden now seemed to be gone; In fact, you feel brimming with vitality as you sit upright for a moment, then stand up and do a few quick stretches as you take a look around.

You seem to be in a Bamboo Grove with a narrow stone path rising in front of you, a statue/shrine for offering money to your left and a small bench to your right.

"At least I'm wearin' clothes this time" you think to yourself as you see that you're wearing in a Black, sleeveless Karate Gi with a White Obi, six black slashes on the tip of each tail... As you turn around, you note that a large door is behind you, but you can also hearing someone crying off into the distance...

A part of you feels like your taking the coward's way out just standing there, but you put that thought out of your mind for a moment and take in the girl across the way on the rock, feeling almost like a hunter observing it's prey?

She has a youthful face and voice, but you can't really tell how old she is... Her clothes hide her body well, though you can tell that she's fairly petite, with the clothes seemingly slightly too big for her. Her black hair's done up in a braided ponytail, long and jet-black, her skin pale and her eyes... Red?

You scratch your head for a moment before she looks up at you, her eyes still filled with tears but her mood darkening. "You..." She pauses, her body starting to shiver and the irises of her eyes slowly turning orange. "I trusted you... I TOLD you to look after her, to protect her, to comfort her and tell her she's perfect the way she was."

"Ah bloody 'ell, are you shittin' me?" you think to yourself as the image of the largge shrine maiden in the impossible clothes slowly losing her image and turning into a doll-faced, painfully thin person as this other Shrine Maiden stands up, her body shaking with fury as you assume a combat stance.

She runs up and punches you in the stomach, but you don't feel anything. She punches you again, her form suggesting that she's a Judo Practioner but once more you feel nothing. She grabs you around your midsection, trying to move you to the ground but you don't move an inch, The Shrine Maiden's face red with a mixture of fury and shame as you start to wonder what you should do?

It's a battleground. You can feel it in the air, in the mood, the setting, the rythmic bangs and booms rumbling from inside the main "Temple"... This is where fighters of all shapes, sizes, disciplines and walks of life come to test themselves, to prove thier abilities against one another in combat, sometimes armed, but mostly unarmed.

You instantly feel at ease, almost at home as you look past the raging fire in front of you to see the doors of the Main Building open, a man gettinng thrown out into the darkness and close, almost before your mind could register it.

You idly wonder whether you should go over and see if the guy 's alright, but you hear footsteps as he walks over to you, his odd-looking jacket ripped and torn, his face belying years of fighting experience (Though you don't expect him to be over 33 Years of age, what with how his skin looks) and his body seemingly sculpted, reminding you of the weight-lifters and body builders that used to crowd around the beach's in Surfer's Paradise when you'd visit for a laugh or two.

He's also Asian, but very tall, towering over you as a long, twin-tailed headband flies through the wind behind him, steam rising from his body and his breath...

"Oi. You don't look to good big guy." You say, seeing if he'll respond. He looks at you for a moment before shaking his head in agreement, muttering "Asshole Cowboy pulls out a goddamn rifle at me during a no weapons fight, then got me kicked out when I popped one of these into my mouth to try and razz him" as he outstretches his hand.

"What are these? Sunflower Seeds?" You ask as you look at the palm of his hand, genuiniely curious as to why something so inocuous could cause such a reaction.

"Yeah... My body sorta responds to them; Sometimes, I can get like a rush of energy flow through me and turn the tide of a fight... The dudes that run this place thought I was on Dragon Pills or something..." He mumbles, a bitter tone to his voice.

"Huh..." You ponder, then add "Well, I'm not actually around from these parts; What IS this place?"

"Oh, it's a temple run by these weird-ass guys and gals who listen to hair metal and think they're wrestlers" He explains, adding "They allow anyone and everyone to show up and throw down, bare hands or weapon. You win a fight, you stay a night; You lose, you fight again when you want, but if you lose three times in a row they'll kick you out."

"Huh... Sounds like my kind of place" You muse.

"Looks like it too... Though, if you lose and they like you enough they'll let you sleep out back in a couple of sheds." He says before stretching his neck and adding "Well, I got to get a move on before they harrass me for vagrancy."

"Wot, out in this weather? You havinn' a giggle mate?" You tease, the weather not relenting this whole time.

"Nah, I'm used to it. Besides, If it gets too dark I'll just do this" He replies before popping a Sunflower Seed into his mouth, swallowing it in one gulp. After a second or two, you feel a powerful energy flow through this guy's body as he starts to glow a fiery red for a brief moment.

You lay back in the comfy chair opposite of a roaring fire, the sounds and atmosphere of this so-called "Temple" reminding you more of "Road House" bars that would spring up in the Outback at fueling stops for "Road Trains".

In a way, you're reminded of home, but again you cringe when you think of those days, having to hide your gender in case some big dude and buddies wanted to jump you, or knife you, or worse... You drift off for a moment, then get a tap on the shoulder from the girl you followed over here.

You sprint towards Rugal as the lights go up and the fight starts, his body swaying and his walk having a slight sense of swagger as he

"Genocide Cu-" He starts to yell before you calmly cut him off with a rush-in "Thrust Punch", knocking him back as the MC's voice yells "Good GOD ladies and gentlemen! SHE BROKE THE GENOCIDE CUTTER!!!", though Rugal does a slow ukemi and then fires off a ground-skimming projectile at you.

You run up and jump over the projectile and cross him up with a Hard Kick, then "Combo" that into a Roundhouse Kick as Rugal is knocked back, but not enough for you to have the tru advantage; He grabs you as you recover from the kick and throws to the left, then tries to hit you off the ground with another "Genocide Cutter", though you roll out of it and back away from him.

From the slightly "Off" stance and the red on his face (Not to mention his breath!), you can tell that he HAS been drinking and he's somewhat surprised at the damage you dealt to him. Instead of a duel, it seems that he's trying to force this fight into a real slugfest as he throws single, powerful punches and kicks towards you, his limb's length making it diifcult to safely close in.

Still, you somewhat evade most of them, taking a few glancing blows here and thee as you try to keep the momentum of the fight on your side, landing a Kohou as he fails to roll out of it in time, the crowd fairly stunned at your performance so far.

"Not bad... Though I AM a bit rusty" he says as he gets up and runs towards you, an arm outstretched...

Although I like the fact that the dreams allow us to "meet" and interact with KOF characters, still I was under the impression that those were supposed to be "awakening" times during which Katja was supposed to learn or realize something that would change her.

I love the Raijin Dash but this one is supposed to be Thunder-based, and the problem is she is supposed to still be trying to awaken her Electrical-potential so I wonder when did she have the time to think about, learn, and master the move.

An important part of the AoF, FF, and KoF mythos are those moments where the character has to master a new moves or create it (and most of the time to defeat a strong opponent), and it seems like for Katja those moments are her dreams.

TL;DR: Why the hell are we fighting Rugal??

Don't want to be the party-pooper though, I'm also looking forward to hopefully stomp him.

You bring up sound points. But, I feel that you don't seem to grasp that each one of these dreams, these visions, are meant to symbolize the chaotic nature of Katja's power and her lack of truly understanding what it mentally takes to be a fighter of the caliber of a KoF Tournament.

The first dream? Her understanding that the reason why her training's hit a wall is because she's being taught to harness an element through her Ki that her body doesn't produce enough of to actually do, as well as show her the potential of mastering such an element and what it could do to her self-esteem. The Second Dream? Her hidden anxiety surrounding the talk of the Tournament, the idea of meeting all of these larger-than-life people that Ryo, Yuri & Takuma sometimes speak of more as god than human (Amd possibly thinking that she might have to change herself, how she acts around others, ust to "Fit In")... All while being shown that yes, she's powerful, but her element is going to take more than talent to truly master and that if channeled incorrectly, it can and could end up hurting herself more than her foe.

This particular dream sequence (Which hopefully will be the last one, if there aren't any objections) is mainly her mind going outside of the realm of reality, of trying to learn how to BE one of those "Gods", to be a true fighter... And understand that at the end of the day, no matter who they are or what they've done, in the end they're all still people.... Sometimes absurdly powerful, sometimes impossibly evil, yes, but still people in the end... Also, that she's not very emotionally active or that she's not the best for making friends.

So yes, I see your point of view regarding all of this. As for fighting Rugal specifically? Three reasons: (1), I rolled a damn-near critical and wanted someone suitably "Mean", yet fair (Hence CvS2-Era Rugal); (2) He's arguably the man who set the tone of the KoF Tournaments as most fighters know them today, for good or bad; (3) Most importantly of all, is that he's a psycological barrier for Katja to overcome, just like Raiden; She damn-near broke out of a sprint away from him out of fear, didn't get swayed by Rugal's to-the-point facts about himself (IE Admitting to a complete stranger that he stuffs Pretty Girls for his now-infamous "Trophy Room"), but she decided to fight him anyway because he's damn-near the scariest bloke she's ever met... And yes, it's because that she thinks he's "Par for the Course" in regards to the weirdo's she MIGHT meet in The Infinite Match.

TL;DR I'm aware of all of those points and I'm working towards fixing them.

You clear your eyes and stare down Rugal as he launches his "Kaiser Wave", noting that it vaguely looks somewhat like Takuma Sakazaki's "Haoh Shoko Ken"... Expecting something like that, you decide to NOT try and roll past it; Instead, you stay in place and hold your arms back, moving away slightly as Rugal's mighty projectile is let loose, taking longer to hit you than you had expected... Though you manage to defend it, the sheer damage of the attack and you're own draining strength causes your guard to be briefly broken as Rugal once again runs towards you, his right arm outstretched as he attempts to grab you with his "God Press".

Though you curse yourself mentally (As the speed of the "Kaiser Wave" and Rugal's follow-up attack was slow enough that you might've been able to counter him), it finally feels like luck is on your side as he misjudges the distance between the two of you and misses, his arm not-quite close enough as you hit him with a "Strong" Kohou, sending the two of you sailing into the sky as he lands fairly hard on the ground in front of you.

You take a look at Rugal as he's getting up off the ground, holding a hand to his head and covering his false eye for a moment as you instictively back away a little, considering changing up your battle plan.

Though he's undoubtably strong, you can sense that he would've wiped the floor with you much earlier in the fight if he weren't as drunk as he seems to be right now... You briefly consider hitting him with the Ryuuko Ranbuu, but instead back away as you ask "Not a good idea to hit the sauce and fight eh mate? Was that thingie the best you wank' could do?"

He glares at you as his "Fales" eye glows bright red, seemingly activating before he begins a wild assault of punches and kicks, you doing the best you can to try and evade them and fight back in-turn.

Curiously, though Rugal's using the same punches and kicks that knocked you out of your best attack range earlier, you don't feel any "Bite" in them now, even in your own weakened state; If anything, it's like he's desperate to try and keep yourself guessing as you knock him back a few times with a "Thrusting Punch", a few "Snap" kicks and then lead into a Hien Shippu Kyaku, though he Ukemi's out of it and you drakly realize his plan; He building up his Ki by relentlessly attacking you, waiting for you to throw out a "Big", slightly unsafe move, then hammer your mistake home with a "Desperation" Move of his own...

Once more, Rugal raises his right leg in anticipation of performing a "Genocide Heaven", but he's a little too slow as he fights to keep his balance, leaving you enough time to...

Basically, Katja subconsciously creates a static charge of lightning inside of her, a part of her mind registering and "Riding" that lightning so-to-speak, to dash around her opponent. In KoF Terms, it's like how K-Dash uses his energy to slide through his opponent during his "Black Out" move. The difference here... Is that if Katja can realize what she's dooing, she can create a few follow-up attacks that are built in to it.

You dig deep within yourself, feeling a small spark of electricity well up from inside of you as you run towards Rugal, his expression manic as he briefly believes that you've given the fight to him... You know better to think that though; While you know that you could've blocked his oncoming barrage of kicks, you focus on trying to mimic what you felt when you squeezed past Raiden seemingly EONS ago; You let your mind wander back even farther, to when you first felt it, the rumble of the storm, the exhileration of being one with something so chaotic as Lightning.

The Crowd gasps in awe as you dash around him, your mind and body struggling to keep up with your actions as Rugal goes through his motions, eventually giving you the prime opportunity to charge up that other technique, the one that sent you to this nightmarish world in the first place.

You charge it for as long as you think you can, then let it go once Rugal hits the ground and turns toards you, screaming "Denjin... Haoh SHOKUO KEN!" as the electrical ball of energy beats his lunging punch clean, sending him flying as he knocks down onto the ground. HARD as once again the electricity lingers in your hand for a moment, though you grab onto your wrist and pinch a nerve to try and stop it from flowing outwardly.

You gasp for breath, dropping down onto one knee as the roar of the crowd fills the air, sounding like rolling thunder to your ears as a refferee' voice starts to count to 10 on the loudspeakers, the crowd counting along as your breath starts to labour, your vision goes white... Though not before you raise your arm, confident of your triumph over this "Rugal Bernstein" fellow...

That's when you wake up in an all-too familiar Hospital Bed, the electronic beeps of a pulse checker next to you and an oxygen mask over your face as you notice your right arm is aloft...

You move your arm down slowly, a sense of foreboading overcomming you as you know that this could be an all-too similar scenario about to unfold... You pause for a moment, then start to flex your arms and move your legs a little, noting that while they aren't as strong as you're used to, you feel that they respond well enough that you could maybe get up a do some stretches (A marked improvement over your last visit to a hospital, where it felt as though it took every last ounce of strength to even MOVE, let alone do light stretch work)...

You slowly take off the oxygen mask and look for the wires that check your pulse, pulling them off as you then find that your arm is hooked up to an IV full of glucose, pulling that out as well as you start to sit upright, then quietly slide off the bed and slowly start to stand upright, your balance surprisingly good after a seemingly long time bed-ridden.

You then start your "Warm-Up" routine in about half the speed you normally would, feeling out your body and expecting a doctor to barge in on you at any moment (With or without a weapon in their hands)... Surprisingly, you feel sore more than anything else, like you had been over-exerting yourself nd didn't take the precautionary measures to make sure your body doesn't cramp up.

After a while, you start to feel closer towards starting your routine at you normal pace when you hear footsteps walk past, then hear a masculine voice understatedly exclaim "Holy SHIT..."

You put up a solid-looking defense as you the turn to see an all-too familiar, Silver-Haired male Nurse standing in the doorway, his eyes wide and his mouth open in disbelief.

You inspect the wallet and find your ID, Driver's License, a few Credit Cards (That you had de-activated until the wallet could be found) and around $300 in cash; Almost two-thirds more than what was in your wallet when you had lost it...

You put the wallet into the drawer of a nearby table and get back to stretching some more, this time at "Full Speed" and find it almost TOO easy; You're accelling at such a difficult exercise makes you pause and wonder how steong you've really become... Though just as you're about to start doing the second leg of your routine (IE the "Advanced" Stretches), you hear a knock on the door and a man, walks in "Dressed as a proper Doctor this time around" you think to yourself, eerily atching this man's every move.

He's tall, thin and much older than you expected; White hair closely cropped and slicked back with tan skin framing his look. "Well... I can see yere' doin' quite well" He says, a soft Irish(?) accent peppering his words as he takes a look at you. "Would you kindly take a seat on the bed? I need to do some tests" he aks.

An uneasy sense of Deja Vu overwhelms you as you look at this man, his dazzling smile almost TOO bright and a little bit out of place on his face... But you keep his request out of your mind as you continue to stretch, wordlessly beginning your "Advanced" routine, only moving slightly away from the bed and out into a more open part of your room.

The Doctor looks at you and his eyes start to narrow. "Look 'ere young missy, I've got to take care of at least five other people on this floor; We both know that you're limber emough to put a gymnast t'shame..."

"Funny you say that; The last "Doctor" that said something like that to me tried to stab me with a scalpel..." You intone in a threatening tone of voice.

"Ah, I see... I'll take this one over t'Dr. Kazahaya, down in the east wing." He grumbles, heading for the door. You make a sound that suggests you're at ease, but you don't trust him. Sure enough you watch him throw a playing card into the air, then step back as said card embeds itself into the floor(!) as he lunges towards you, his arm making slicing noise as you try to block his strike, only to see it leave a small laceration on your arm as he grimly grins, knowing that he has the upper hand... Maybe you could fight him until help arrives? Or at least until someone notices and gies you a chance to escape...

You stop to take a deep breath and start to yell "HELP! HELP! You stand back for a moment, watching your assailant from earlier slowly walk towards you and the male nurse that guarding you. Even with your lack of strength right now, you feel the need to fight this guy and ask the nurse "You gonna need help, big guy? I Saw him demolish a bloody wall using cards..." "Eh, I've seen worse" he replies as the Male Nurse then rockets toward your assasin from earlier with a dashing uppercut, then landing a strong straight to the older man's face, both hits leaving odd-sounding booms that remind you of a cannon's blast.

You leave the fight to these two guys and duck into the Kagura Clinic's "Clothes Depot" ("A fancy name for a laundry place" you think to yourself), mindful of locking the door behind you as you scramble to find your clothes, or even clothes you might be able to borrow to make an escape...

Unfortuneatly, your mind's getting scrambled as you desperately search for clothes, then eventually give up and hide in a clothes hamper, careful not to make any noise and piling clean clothes on top of you as the battle rages on outside...

After a while, you hear the fight move back down the hall you came from and relax somewhat, though you're mindful of being hidden. Then you stop hearing the fight all together as you wait, the tension in the room thick enough to cut with a knfe.

That's when you hear the door open as a familiar-sounding female voice yells "SOUTH TOWN PD! IDENTIFY YOURSELF BEFORE I DO IT FOR YA'!"

"Mary?" you hear yourself say as footseps move over and uncover your hiding spot. You cover your eyes for a moment and look up to see that, yes, it is private detective "Blue Mary" Ryan starting back at you, a warm smile on her face. "Glad to see you're alright. You need a ride out?"

"Yeah, sure" Mary replies, not quite believing your stamina and strength as you start to look around for your clothes some more, eventually finding them washed, folded, bleached and properly folded, as well as put in a bag with a zipper as Mary makes a note of escorting you out of the room, but not before you ask "What happened to the fight between the doctor and the nurse?"

"Which one?" She glumly replies before answering "The big guy with the Silver Hair? He's in the sick bay with so many cuts you'd think a Tiger mauled him... The Red-Headed Gal, on the other hand, is currently getting her arm patched up in the west wing."

"Damn..." You mutter as Mary hands you your wallet, dryly adding "The big guy wanted you to have this." You take a quick look at it and find everything still there, though you put that aside and ask "And the 'Doctor'?"

"Well... He got arrested, but who knows if he'll actually get convicted or serve time..." She grumbles, a weary-sound in her voice as she leads you to a room. "You can get changed in here; Your friends are all waiting for you out front in the lobby."

"Y'sure it's safe? Y'know, don't want Dr. McStabby Ninja poppin' out and shankin' me" You ask, only half-joking as Mary laughs and turns on the lights, revealing no other way in or out. "See? Besides, I'll stand guard outside for ya'." She adds as you nod and quickly step inside the room, locking the door shut and quickly putting on the Gi you were last in along with your undergarments. No more than five minutes later you knock and walk out, Mary glancing at you as wonder what to do next...

Heading over to your right, you and your ersatz entourage find a nurse and ask her if you could get to the sick bay.

She nods, then the two of you follow her through a zig-zag-ing pathway

"Hey big guy. How y'holdin' up?" You awkwardly ask, your voice slightly lower than you wanted it to be as he looks up at you, then grins.

"Could be better, I guess... That guy was pretty good though" He replies, his voice fairly blase about the subject. "Shit, he bloody cut up furckin' CONCRETE with PLAYING CARDS and you think he was 'Good?' " You increduously ask.

"Well, he was all-rushdown, all the time. The trick was getting him off his tempo and trying not to get hit" He replies before getting cut off by a feminine voice adding "That's where I came in."

You, Mary & Yashiro (Along with your police protection) turn to see Shermie standing in the doorway behind you, still in her self-designed nurse's uniform and her left arm in a sling she's ALREADY decorated with a sewing kit and a few bits of thread and stitching.

"Do you Gendarmes mind? I'd like to be with my man for a moment" She seductively asks, then struts in as you nod and see that it's your time to leave, but not before asking "What's your name big guy?"

"Nanakase Yashiro" He replies before eyeing up his supposed "Gal"as the you and your group leave the room.

She smirks, but then makes a dour expression as her eyes focus ahead of her and yours do the same as you and your escorts meet an intern in the hallway standing ahead of you.

Mary and the officers flash their badges before she asks "Excuse us sir but we're the South Town PD; I was wond"Professional" voice (the first time you've seen her act like, well, a REAL detective you guess).

The intern pauses, then wordlessly points as Mary and the other two officers escort you down the hall, an actual smile breaking out on your face as you see Yuri Sakazaki running up and damn-near tackle you, Mary and your escorts the only thing hold you up. "I'm 'ere, it's all right" you softly tell her as you then see Ryo heading over to you. Your grin widens as he holds his hand up and you high-five and then grasp it as he says "Good to have you back Kat."

"It's all good mate; When're you gonna spar with me?" You jokingly ask as you start to wonder how long you were out when Yuri looks up and blurts out "You were out for like a week solid!"

"Come on, really? You 'avvin' a giggle now, right?" You tease but note that her mood doesn't change. "T-Three days in, your condition worsened and your heart stopped halfway through the night... He grins and nods, then adds "Yeah. It was a lot of time and studying, but it was worth it all in the end; I get to finally step up to the plate and show the world what my Dojo can do!", pride and passion swelling up in his voice and looking (As well as sounding) a tad bit goofy to your ears... You then look around and see that Robert's not there... Then look down at Yuri's slightly red face and wonder if you should ask, when Yuri looks up at you and says "C'mon, let's get back to the Dojo; Dad's called off training for the day due to celibrate the Dojo's fighers getting into this year's KoF and he'll be thrilled to see you up and walking again!"

"Wait, TAKUMA called of his training? This is a big deal then" you muse to yourself, letting Yuri, Ryo, Marco and Mary escort you out of the clinic as you start to wonder how much you've really affected them all and how much they really care for you... Regardless, it seems you've got a big day planned ahead, even straight out of your own death-bed as the "Tournament to end all Tournaments" looms in the back of your mind...

For now though, it's time to have some fun and relax for a change.
