You're lunch with Sanna and Goldie goes rather well.
As it turns out, they didn't really risk exile or anything, just temporary imprisonment while Giovanni dealt with the bureaucracy.
Kind of bothers you though that they were asleep around the time that you were outside of the dome risking your life. It was a lot scarier than you thought it would be.

The woman and how quickly she had thought to kill you. Ni'Aras, the monster that speaks. He's still out there isn't he? The rest of them too. And... The murderer you never found.

When Goldie and Sanna hear about that, they both get really quiet.

"So there was an esper monster out there. It..." He trails off, seeming to think better of what he'd say next. Especially with your full attention.
"It what Goldie?" You say, sipping at some light berry juice, diluted from a concentrate.
"Nothing." He shuts up, and stuffs his mouth full of lettuce leaves.

"Tha's not gonna make us not pry ya know. If ya didn' want us sayin' nuthin' ya shoulda kept yer clap shut." Sanna points at him with her words garbled by half-chewn insects."
Goldie swallows down the salad and grabs his tray," Yeah, I guess the weed is right." In the next moment- he's gone.
"Poor sport, aint he?"
"Kind of," You give her a neutral response.
Your thoughts are kind of wrapped up in the results of the mission. Boss said you did good. You're back here alive, but something just doesn't quite feel right.
Was anything resolved?
>>
Sanna's eyes perk up, her eyes transfixed on something,"Oh, hey Bruisey. You here to shadow Ceru since yer done sweat'n?"

Your ears flick, and you turn to see Bruise's face inches from yours. You reflexively lash out in terror, yet your claws touch nothing from his evasion.
"Good to see you still quick as ever Ceru," His deep voice is good to hear. He's been a friend to you for well over a year, and he's grown so much.

Bruise easily stands about as tall as most of the adults. He was alwats a couple years ahead, but it's really apparent now.

You go red beneath the fur as you remember what happened at your birthday.

You pout a little, he made you react like Kitty. You're not Kitty. You don't want to be Kitty.
But in light of recent near-death experience?

"Hey Bruise." You still bear a bit of a pouty lip, your eyes a bit downcast.
You motion to Goldie's empty chair.
"Wanna sit down? We've got a spot?" You give him a glimmer of a smile.
Kiss or not, this guy's still your friend,"How was your day?"

At that, Sanna puts her hands on the table, and rises, leaning forward a bit,"Well, I'ma get goin'. Leave you two lovebirds to do your thing, see ya!"

Bruise reaches out to her, as if for her not to leave,"H-hey wait, what are you-" He gives up, and puts the same hand over his forehead, rubbing it down to his mouth with his eyes pressed shut. His gray skin heats a little darker.
"Ahhh." He grabs the back of a chair and forces it out to meet him as he takes a seat," Look, I wanted to apologize about that Cerulean."

You sip at your drink idly, avoiding eye contact,"Uh. huh." Honestly, this is just too embarassing. You didn't want to talk about this.

"So, I'm sorry, okay? You forgive me?" He offers you a hand, and you kind of look at it. You can see the dirt on his fingers from the training fields, and the excessive callouses he's gained over his time here. You have your own fair share.

In the end, he at least decided to apologize, it's a very grown up thing to do after all. Bruise is pretty much a grown up after all.

You extend your own hand to meet his for the handshake.

He kind of breathes a sigh of relief,"I'm glad we're-"
You angle your other hand up from your cup and give it kind of a squeeze, blasting a reasonable amount of cold water over him.
Your mutual handshake is paused as he sits there, dripping water, eyes closed.
"Cerulean?"

"I accept your apology Bruise."
he nods slowly, like a trooper, ignoring the shivers that must be up and coming at this point,"Good then."
You feel his hand loosen and slip from yours as he stands, dripping water all over the floor.
"I'm going to change."

You take another sip of your drink,"Alright then Bruise."

You hear some other rockets laugh around you. Your ears pick up little things from the crowd.
"Ooo, lover's quarrel!"
"No wonder she's called the Ice Queen..."
"Omigod, I can see his-"

Seems everyone already knows about what happened...

After Bruise leaves, you throw away your drink and head out of the cafeteria. Well, you haven't been told to resume training. For all it's worth, you could have a few more days off. You only spent two days out of the week for investigation.

You kind of wonder how Devon's doing.. Or Lilac. Though you should probably also report to boss. He might be busy around this time though...

As you leave the cafeteria, your reflect a bit more on the mission, thinking of how it all started. Lilac, the ghost, Chuck-
Your eyes go wide and you grip at your sleeve YOU FORGOT ABOUT CHUCK!

You book it, sprinting through the rocket dorms to where you last left him. Throwing open the door, you don't see him there.
You kind of stare for a moment.

No, yeah, he was there. You left him there.
You close the door. Open the door. Nope, still not there.

You hear the ping of an intercom,"Cerulean, please report to the Leader's Office. Cerulean, please report to the Leader's Office-"

Oh crap, you're not in trouble right? You're totally not in trouble. No, he's just going to tell you what good job you've done and pat you on the head, or talk about how he needs to do something about Devon, and- Oh Arceus, you're in trouble, aren't you?

===================================

You gently open the door to Boss's office after being checked in by the human secretary, whom gave you an idle glance,"He said to go right in Cerulean."
And so, you are. Inside, you see Boss at first, then off to the side, sitting upright and proper, one leg folded over the other, the gray suitskirt, the blonde hair done up in a tight bun, and her blue eyes immediately falling upon you.

"Your people could be a bit hastier Giovanni. Though she's here sooner than before." Miss Seraphis pushes a loose strand of hair from her face, a trickle of sweat existing upon the sheen of her forehead.
"Seems that instant gratification is too slow for your liking." Giovanni adjusts his tie.
There's a perfume in the air.
>>
"Y-you called to see me, sir?"
Giovanni nods, gesturing over to Seraphis with a bit of a smirk,"Indeed, I've told Seraphis of yours and Devon's experiences outside of the dome. The truth is safe with her regarding the..."

"Breach of security." Seraphis glares at Boss from the corner of her eye.
She clears her throat," It was well beyond my expectation that this error as turned out as such. Silph bears similar responsibility for the breach of security and public trust, which is why this must remain confidential."
She continues,"Your... Boss, seems to also have in mind your opinion on what should be done. Take heed, that your decision holds minute sway over what we of Silph and the Rangers' League intend to do about this threat to our interests."

>Well?

>>
>>29448070

>>
>>29447871
Well, first of all, we should, er, recover chuck. He was fired from the sylph case, and we had him here for protective custody as he was an important witness and had psychic damage, but he's, uh... missing.
>>
>>29447871
It seems like all the human inhabitants are there due to extensive hypnosis on the part of Ni'Aras, so I'd say that if possible they should be taken alive, though we understand that that might be very difficult.

Is it possible that Ni'Aras uses the same style of mental suggestions for everyone?
>>
>>29448021
Also this is the perfect time for rogue Espeon excuse like others have suggested.
>>
>>29448021
>Yes. Yes you can.
Well I mean Boss already sent people to wipe out the rest of the village.

We should go with the Espeon thing as a means to grab for more power for the rangers.

I'd also like to suggest an increase in the number of Evil-type rangers to deal with rogue or enemy espers.
>>
>>29448090
im guessing it takes approval from the ranger league to get to indigo plateau?
>>
>>29448130
>I'd also like to suggest an increase in the number of Evil-type rangers to deal with rogue or enemy espers.
I'd also like this. There isn't an Evil gym, but perhaps increasing the population is something they should look into. Espers are horribly broken with how rare Mediums are and there not actually being many Evil rangers.
>>
>>29448108
No, I was wondering what the hell they were talking about when they refered to rogue espeons.
>>
>>29448170
>>29448130
but esper monsters are incredibly rare and almost always flee
>>
>>29448184
someone else explain this, i do not have the patience
>>
>>29448184
Revealing the extent of this breach would be bad, thankfully we caught it early enough that a different story can be told.

Instead of them the public about the Esper village this is treated as an isolated incident performed by a rogue espeon whose master died. It catches people's heartstrings and explains what happened well enough that the public will buy it.
>>
>>29448197
Except this time. You know, when one spent 10 years abducting kids from the dome and then its filthy spawn came in and killed and stole.

Totally not a big problem that needs to be prevented from happening again.

Totally no way said spawn of hypno is still alive and might be angry.
>>
>>29448215
we plan on pinning the blame for the psychic problems on somebody who didn't put his evee down in time and allowed it to become an espeon.

This is to prevent the populace from knowing about monsters getting into the dome without the rangers knowing about it.
>>
>>29448078
And a follow-up to this, what's your view, Ygg, on someone running their own, smaller, AoPH game? Just between some friends and not involving /tg/?
>>
>>29447871
The leader of the tribe has apparently been taking citizens from our dome and using its powers to hypnotize them into becoming loyal to him. He does not seem to have any hostile intentions towards the dome, however, the hybrid born from its union with the esper he had kidnapped is dangerous. When we harmed the esper, the monster reacted angrily at our actions. It seems likely that if we pursue the hybrid, it may cause him to act.....rashly.

If it and its son were capable of sneaking into the dome for years without anyone taking notice, we just can't ignore them.

A question. Have the rangers ever met other 'intelligent' monsters like these before? How did our interactions with them in these incidents go?
>>
>>29448215
Basically when all this started we came up with the idea to blame rogue espeons as it would increase public awareness to get you eevee everstoned and boost the public's view on rangers
>>
>>29448242
That seem like a perfectly reasonable plan then.
>>
>>29447871
Mention that both Devon and ourselves know what the Hybrid smells like. And if we still have a hair sample, maybe that can be passed around to other talented trackers?

>>29448284

It's a part of brain/gland that gets inserted that works to convert the chemistry of the brain as a whole as it "evolves"

>>29448253
I'd be a bit flattered. Tell me how it goes, I love tabletop storytimes.

>>29448264
>A question. Have the rangers ever met other 'intelligent' monsters like these before? How did our interactions with them in these incidents go?

There haven't been reports to date of monsters possessing this level of intellect. At least, not in contact.
It's been theorized that the flighty "Abra" monster may be related to an unknown species that hasn't been encountered...

>The plan?
>>
>>29448429
>>The plan?
Blame the problem on a rogue espeon, send a cleaning thing to destroy the village.

Capture the hybrid alive.
>>
>>29448429
>Somewhere out there is an entire tribe of Abras and Kadabras ruled by a ancient elder Alakazam
>>
>>29448429
espeon excuse, ask to be included in clean up, suggest capture if we can and kill if we cannot
>>
>>29448429
>Blame espeons to the public

>>
>Send an expedition to the village
>capture as many as possible alive
>deprogram them
>kill any that resist beyond a Ranger's capabilities so safegaurd them

>>
>>29448429
So he's asking us what we think we should do with the threat?

Well, let's see. How far have we explored the world? We've been trapped in the domes for a long time, right? If we're hard up for information on the outside world, we could attempt to reach some sort of compromise with the monster. While it's kidnapped people from the dome and stolen materials from Silph, it does not necessarily want to attack anyone from our dome.

Bring up the Espeon plan for explaining this to the public.

Agree with boss about the need to deal with the village, suggest capture of the Hybrid if possible. Bring up the possibility that the Hybrid or Ni'Aras aren't be in the village currently and that sweeping the Dome for traces of them could be worthwhile.

Mention that Ni'Aras knows a lot about the outside world from his travels, but capture and interrogation would be extremely problematic.
>>
>>29448429
Capture if possible, kill if necessary.
>>
>>29448429
Well, there's been a few sessions already. It's taking place in Unova, the GM doesn't know a ton about Pokémon besides X/Y, so he made a lot of the Pokémon stuff historical figures. No Iris as the Opelucid gym leader, for example.

Anyway. To sum up? Through some incredible rolling, I got an Axew for my hybridization, then I convinced a slightly psychotic but highly skilled and respected ranger to tutor me. I quickly ended up the top of my class!

Then, during my big test (like Cerulean in the forest) I and my team had to survive in a 'Hazard Orchard' for 72 hours. Scoring was based on Pokemon killed and captured, most people are expected to take on little stage one monsters, like Pidove and shit. A single capture was worth enough 'points' to insure your passing. Well, I captured a Tepig, a Pidove, and two Sewaddles, and killed a Watchog and a Pignite.

Got so many points they let me pick a second augment. I picked Deino. Which is why I was wondering about the whole 'Evil implant' thing.

It might sound a little mary-sueish, but I got so many incredible rolls, I earned it. I rolled like for 20s in the fight with the Pignite.
>>
>>29448592
For most of the population it isn't worth the risk to try and capture them, the Hybrid might be worthwhile due to his scientific value, random brainwashed civvies aren't worth it.

That really seems wrong when a ton of special attacks are purely for how much pokemagic you can blast.

Also because there are pokes like Hawlucha who have attack stats based on their skill and finesse regardless of their lower physical strength, as per their dex entries.

"Well..." You squirm a little under the gaze and expectations of one and both of these superiors. THey expect an opinion from you, even if they might not listen.

You take a deep breath, letting yourself slip into your "Business" posture, and give a formal salute despite your out of place civilian attire.
"Sir! I believe that it is best that we capture as many alive as possible! The esper in question has a mental hold over those innocent people and their actions are not their own! We need to capture the hybrid monster-"

"Hybrid monster?" Seraphis interrupts.
She looks to Giovanni, buttoning up her blouse,"You did not mention this to me Giovanni."
The boss leans back in his chair,"Thought it'd be best to hear it from the one that found out about it herself." Giovanni motions toward you,
"Cerulean, please continue."

At his word, you nod," We need to capture the hybrid monster in secret, and detain or kill it. It's killed people before, and can't be allowed to run free."
You pause thinking for a moment, allowing your posture to slacken.
"I think we should also remind people that they should put down their eevees before they evolve. You know, because a rogue Espeon did all this to the people."

You smile as you finish with a,"Sir."

Seraphis raises an eyebrow, looking over from you to Giovanni,"I like her."
Giovanni gives Seraphis a smug grin,"Indeed, it's why I keep her around."

"Anything else for me sir?" You ask, beginning to get a little antsy yourself.

"One last thing," Seraphis rubs at the bridge of her nose before putting on the fakest smile you've ever seen a person wear.
"I've been made aware that Mr. Zaphrain- Excuse me, Charles, had been under your custody until yesterday. Cerulean, by chance do you know where he is now? I've mind to recommend him his position back."

Seraphis's eyes harden on you a bit, yet her smile sustains," No, he is nowhere to be found on the premises. I was hoping you'd know?"

"I- I was just in the middle of looking for him before being called here." You feel your heart pounding into head.
"I'll go find him right away, if I'm free to go. I will."

Seraphis sighs, letting the facade wash away. "Well Giovanni, I suppose we should return to our business here."
Boss nods in agreement, looking over Seraphis,"Indeed, Cerulean, I leave Chuck's safe return to you. Let's continue our discussion Miss Seraphis."

"Oh, and Cerulean. Your Mission Reward will be sent to your account. Have fun with the extra income."
"Thank you Miss Seraphis."
You bow and take your leave.

You open log into a nearby terminal and send out pages to everyone that's been involved with the mission so far, even Alexis in her minute dabblings, and Bruise because you like having your buddy around.

Devon's message returns with a:"Hah! Fat Cat needs me again! D's coming!"
The others don't give quite as colorful responses...

The lot of you assemble in the room that he was held in, you gave the message for civvie clothes again, and the lot of them have all done their best to cover up again, though Sanna seems to be the most annoyed by this.
"Alright, Ceru, weren't we done with this already? What are we doing this again for?"

You pace back and forth, shaking your head," Sanna, no Sanna, I need, no- we need to find that guy that I brought here yesterday. I thought you might know where he is, he's missing, I haven't seen him, have you seen him? I don't even smell him. " Your eyes snap to Devon, and a finger follows as well.
"Devon! Do you smell Chuck?"

He curls up a lip from his muffler hiding his maw,"No fattie, I don't smell the guy, which is weird..." Devon seems lucid for a moment as he thinks.
"I smell disinfectant."
"See, see, I- wait." You take in a deep wiff. He's right. There's a chemical lingering that's leaving an almost absence of smell while still existing enough to burn your nose just a little.

Bruise furrows his brow," His scent's covered up then?"
Goldenrod frowns slightly,"That's obvious. There are psychic echoes here as well, you feel them too, don't you Alexis?"
>>
The Human Esper nods," Yes, there was an intense manipulation here. Animosity as well. They're contained here.
Devon snorts," Don't care about your psychic shit. I smell the chemical, we can follow it. If we find the monster at the end of the trail-"
Sanna sighs,"Shouldn't we leave this to Boss? Are we really going to deal with a human again?"
Bruise shrugs," I'm just coming in on this, but I think we should deal with this. Dunce-dog mentioned a monster, that what this is about? An Espeon or-"

"Pah, how clueless. Cerulean, why'd you invite this musclebound retard?" Devon says offhand, as though Bruise doesn't exist.
"Reverse you just say to me?!" Bruise makes a move for Devon, as the Hound adjusts his stance, preparing for a brawl. A come-and-get-it showing.

"Bruise!" You break the conversation with your command, giving your friend pause. "You know how Devon is, ignore it. I brought Bruise here to be another body in case we need to split up to find Mr. Zaphrain-Chuck, whatever his name is."

"So, we have a lead right? Disinfectant and esper stuff, right?"

They all mutually agree while still sort of disagreeing.

"Good! Let's start the second part of this mission!"

Senna is our capture expert and, if we need to subdue a monster, it's imperative that she's able to move quickly. She should stick with at least one of the espers so that they can quickly teleport her.

I am assuming Goldie is better at teleporting than Alexis? By virtue of having an Abra, that is. Goldie and Senna stick together.

Which means that Alexis should be in the other team with Devon, I suppose. Which leaves Bruise and Ceru. Ceru will be better able to manage Devon, so that's that.

I had Goldie paired up with Sanna since I assumed that he's better at teleportations. Just because of his Abra implant. It'd be important to take advantage of Sanna's implants; he could teleport her detached tentacles directly onto the target.

>>
>>29451455
I don't think that's how teleportation works.

And I don't know, I'd say Devon and Sanna are bettr suited to fighting than rescuing, and if they have to bring an Esper along, then Alexis has a better temperment.
>>
>>29451567
Oh, you mean Sanna?
>>
>>29451585
True. But Goldie is supposedly a very powerful esper now and we're presumably facing off against the hybrid (because, hey, gotta tie up loose ends, right?), so in terms of raw psychic power, he might be better in dampening the hybrid's powers.
>>
>>29451455
The problem with that is that Devon and Goldie REALLY don't get along, and it's begging for trouble if we aren't there to keep things on task. If we ARE there, the other team has no scent tracker.

I think >>29451411 is best if we want to have an esper and tracker on each.

If we want to do an esper team and a scent team it should be Ceru/Devon/Bruise and Goldie/Alexis/Sanna. (I'm assuming Sanna is at least moderately combat capable.) This gives each team someone who can help with a capture (us freezing and Sanna powdering) in addition to the people who will be doing the hunting.

I knew this would happen again. I knew it and when I brought it up and said we need to make sure to not let it happen again, I was told to stop bitching because there's no way we'd make the same mistake again and it was rude.

>>
>>29452034
they are teams of three this time though... it'll be fine. What could possibly go wrong?
>>
You're torn between splitting up the team after what happened last time. You look over their faces and consider your options carefully.
No one would be alone, and there are two trails, right?

Yes, they both need to be followed.
"Is it decided Cerulean?" Alexis's isolated gaze searches for an answer.

"We split up," You finally decide.
You point each of them in order,"Alexis, Devon Sanna, you're all team E, track down the Monster."
"Bruise, Goldie, you're with me. We're team S, we're going after the scent."

"Maintain radio contact via shortwave and comm towers, report any change of circumstance, and most of all-" and you stress this point,"Don't get caught off guard."

Bruise salutes, and so does Goldie and Alexis
Some are a bit slow to comply, yet you give them a harsher glare, curling up your lip with a ferocity you weren't quite aware of,"Understood?"

A resounding "Yes Ma'am!" you receive with a nod, at the very least, they seem satisfied with the grouping arrangements.

"Good, let's move out."

Hopefully splitting up won't be as much of a "We graduated from the Scooby Doo school of criminal investigation" stupid move this time. The teams are well planned and we're going to be in contact via radio.
>>
>>29452211
I don't know, I feel like the dice are almost as fun as how Cosgrove's shenanigans.
>>
>>29452263
When we split up the first time in the warehouse, the teams were well planned as well (we'd charm the nicer guy, devon would intimidate the ruder guy, and sanna would be with him so that we could use Goldie to communicate with them psychically). It was just the rolls that caused an issue.
>>
>>29452211
Encounters have always been roll under.
>>
>>29452211

>>29452236

>>
>>29452332

>>
>>29452368

>>
>>29452368
I think you're thinking about luck rolls.

When we had that encounter roll to find the Fartfetch'd, we rolled low (a 12, to be exact) and found it. We even surprised it then.
>>
The team splits, and you all sync up your shortwave radios to receive each other.
Your nose catches the scent, and with Bruise and Goldie in tow, you're off to a good pace with them on the watch.

You're led from the dorms, though face a minute amount of difficulty when it comes to the trams. The smells of other people and the wash used to clean the platforms at night obscure it, yet you get a decent enough grasp of it to continue.

"This one..." You look back to your squad-mates.
Bruise looks up at the station signs,"Saffron, Vermillion, Fuschia."
He looks down and back to you, shrugging,"Which stop would he have gotten off at?"
"Saffron seems likely, he was from there. It's also where the monster did most of its work."

Bruise scowls a little at that, curling his nose up,"I'm not sure Goldie, seems a bit obvious. You guys tracked the thing before. If it knows it might change its tactic."

>It'll take a while to properly sniff out each scene for the continuation of the trail. By the time you have a chance of catching wind, the tram will already have left.

This is important.

You don't need tickets for the trams as they are a public service, though you do need to check in with the attendants for permission to board. The exchange is often very quick with a flash of ID.
They don't often ask questions.

>By having Goldie peruse one of their minds, and a little light discussion, you find that Chuck did indeed board one of the trams. Though it's not really new information as to where.

You approach the attendant, backtracking just a touch," Hello there sir," You say with a toothless smile, doing your best to appear benign.

"Hello there, Cerulean, yes? What can I do for you?" The man eyes the next people in line, scanning their cards to be approved or declined based loosely on where they "should" be at this time.

"Oh, I was just wondering if you could help us find a man. We're concerned for his health," You lean over with a falsely low whisper, just loud enough for people to hear.
"He had a run in with an Eeveelution, you'll probably hear about that on the news later, but we really need to know the last stop he got off at.

The man seems to harden a little, growing a bit old and rigid at the same time despite his youth,"Ah, right. Serious business." He holds a hand up,"Tram won't be coming for another five and twenty-five seconds, counting. Hold on here."
He pulls up a search screen in his terminal, complying right away with your excuse.
"Name please?"

"Charles Zaphrain."
After a few moments, the attendant gets back to you, resuming his scan of the next people's cards.
"Vermillion. Odd. Didn't think he'd be permitted there."Is that all, Cerulean?"
you give him a fairly quick nod,"Yes, that's great, thank you so much!"
>>
The three of you get on the tram, Goldie seems to be a bit confused and irritated by the revelation. "Not permitted? So what, he should be Pewter and Saffron, that's it?"

"Pretty much. Most actual Pewters aren't even allowed out of Pewter. Gets real claustraphobic there really fast with all those rocks." Bruise crosses his arms in the seat.
"Why Vermillion though?" You wonder aloud. Unless, unless he made a changeover? No. The last stop was Vermillion. He'd have to walk all the way to a gate for that. Way too far...

The three of you get off at Vermillion stop, near the gym because it's the most ranger friendly one. You can feel the tingle in the air within your fur from here, this place is electric!

As far as the eye can see, there are generators, electronic factories, the gym, and barracks. the barracks.

The electricity- the static in the air just about makes your fur stand on end. There's a tension here between the expected decorum of those that live within Vermillion and outsiders that don't quite possess their bearing.

It's here that you receive a noticeable absence of looks as the people pass you by, eyes forward.

Well, at least they won't impede you.

"I don't like the people here." Goldie complains off-hand.
"What? Why?" You ask as you follow the scent through the streets, taking a hard and longing whiff now and then.
"They're drawn to purpose, they have a place. It is unlike us, that have been chosen to be changed and killed by the world outside." He quiets down a little, minding his words.
"They are content here."

They don't need to think about things like that. It's not for them to worry about. It doesn't matter if they think they're better or the other way around. You chose to be a ranger, it's your job. It's what they chose, and you all need to do your best or else their way of life will end.

The three of you continue to get closer, and closer to the distant power plant as you lead yourself on the path of the residual disinfectant.
Bruise and Goldenrod express their mutual worry that the missing man may just be within there, somehow past guards, and among the vital machinery and power sources that supply energy to the dome, and more importantly- The Repel Field.

Yet strangely enough, as you pursue the smell, it teeters off a bit, away from the grand facility at the beginning of the multiple layers of security.

The three of you find yourself into some alley, as you've been lead by your nose.

The scent is strong here, but you don't see anything of note. Stranger still, it just sort of ends here.

"Hey," You turn around to the others, scratching your nails through your hair a bit," Looks like a dead end. Not smelling anything else. besides what I've been following for a while now.
You look back to the alley, the afternoon sun casting shadows here and there over the lack of litter on the ground, the working of grasses into the sparsely furnished projects of engineers and their children. occupying this back-end.

It's gotten late since you started investigation. Maybe you should contact Devon...

was looking straight up really something that needs our input? Isn't it something you ALWAYS do when the scent ends?
>>
>>29454395
>he is CURRENTLY jumping from a building
>catch the suicidal man roll
>>
>>29454422
Is Goldie Telekinetic?
>>
>>29454422
Or have Goldie levitate him. Or teleport him. Or both while trying to slow down his fall.
>>
>>29454481
Volleyball match. Yes.
>>
With the end of the trail, and nothing apparent around here, you circle around the alley a few times, or pacing rather as you open up your index and short-comm over to Devon.

"Team E, We've reached a dead end for the scent. What's your status?"
You hear some almost like a mechanical laughter through your radio. It's a bit eerie at first. It cuts out for a moment before clearing up into Devon's voice.
"Yeah, so S, we're a bit lost on the uptake here. A can't track an echo for shit, or at least this stupid thing's decided not to leave a real trail. We've been to Saffron where the fuck'n signals apparently got 'mixed' and now we're back in Veridian for the time being as it's late and my ass hasn't been kissed. How's dealing with-"
"Nothing on our end, E. Just an empty ally."
There's some crackling with more laughter on the other end,"Hey, try looking up or something? Maybe your bogey learned to fly?"

You put two knuckles to your forehead, rubbing out at having to deal with this insane guy.
"Can I get Sanna, or-" Your eyes gravitate up, despite his ridiculous... suggestion...

You see Chuck hanging from a building by a cable, a dopey smile on his face as he creaks back and forth idly, lifelessly.

"Chuck?" You gasp out, your legs involuntarily drawing you back, your free hand going over your mouth.
"Oh shit! You really found him?! Glorious leader of team E-" You cut Devon off, and grit your teeth hard as you swallow down a dry knot in your throat.
"Shit... Bruise looks on at a lost for more graceful words, yet he's the only one that doesn't falter.
"I don't feel anything Cerulean..." Goldie backs away himself,"He's dead."

The killer's still at large.

I can't wait for next thread. The suspense is killing me.

>>
>>29454706
Good thinking.

Time for a fresh lead.
>>
>>29454691
Nah, we're fine. We can't really be blamed for this.

>>29454706
Hehehe. The title makes sense now. Our best chance at finding the culprit is contacting Chuck's ghost.
>>
>>29454721
Of course we can be blamed, we didn't guard him good enough!
>>
>>29454721
We kind of left him in a closet and then forgot to tell anyone.
>>
>>29454660
chalk it up to Ceru being young I suppose. I would think that being trained in locking on scents includes looking up and down, but-
>Ceru's nose implants are relatively recent.
...fine, I guess that makes sense.
>>
>>29454751
And we can blame Rocket dorms security for allowing a psychic monster on the grounds.

You're tearing me apart Ygg!
>>
>>29454791
look it doesn't matter if we can cover this up to the public we're making outselves LOOK BAD in front of THE BOSS

Also a guy died!
>>
>>29454773
Also how'd he even get to Vermillion?

And why kill himself here of all places?
>>
>>29454823
Doesn't really make us look bad so much underline how much the security around the Dome, especially on Rocket territory, needs to be reworked.
>>
>>29454823
Man, fuck off.
>>
>>29454859
He went there by tram. It's not as if access is restricted there.

As for why he killed himself. Well, the hybrid apparently planted that desire earlier on, back when we met Chuck. Perhaps it wanted to finish the job.

Could be that the hybrid was inadvertently raised to be a psycho, despite the Hypnos' apparently pacifistic ways.
>>
>>29454864
It kind of makes us look really bad.

Like we should have brought up Chuck to someone before we left.
>>
>>29454893
but why Vermillion?
>>
>>29454898
But we couldn't. We weren't allowed to speak about the job to anyone else. The fact that we brought Bruise and Alexis into it is fine because Giovanni brought Alexis into the case first.
>>
>>29454893
I meant why Vermillion specifically.
>>
well, I guess we didn't lie when we said we'd find him right quick
>>
>>29454934
Who knows? If the little monster didn't have any real plan to harm the dome as a whole, maybe it just wanted to shock the people there? Like what Bruise and Goldie said; the people in this Quarter generally think themselves superior and above the other quarters because of their stable lives. Maybe it thought it would be fun to scare them?

>>29454941
I couldn't answer that question. I was just answering your first one.
>>
>>29454935
I guess technically we weren't even supposed to bring Chuck back to the dorms.
>>
>>29454941
>>29454934
do you want more shadowruns?
To get cerulean into the power plant to activate her sleeper programming.
>>
>>29454986
Safest place we could have brought him to. Or it should have been, but it seems it was as easy to infiltrate as anywhere else.

this can be covered up for the public.

this is gonna be a hard one to spin. Lil' Ceru gets her first black mark maybe.

to be fair, a lot of shit went down over the past day. Its a little understandable that Chuck got lost in the shuffle.
>>
You took the SVF Tram-line. to get to Vermillion.
>>
>>29455028
You're just being overly pessimistic. Some anons were worried about how Giovanni would view our performance in the mission, but it was quite positive.

You just need to learn how not to view these events as personal failings. The logic behind the actions was sound enough.
>>
>>29455028
I can't help but wonder if this all would have been forgotten if I hadn't brought it up.
Anyways, yeah, we fucked up with the securing of this guy. THough, I do believe we mentioned him in our emergency in case we don't come back email to giovanni.
>>
>>29455094
Probably not. Prof was hinting that the case wasn't over since the last thread.
>>
>>29455060
What does that mean?

Is that a hint?
>>
>>29455150
It's just a reference to the stops that the tram makes.
>>
>>29455172
Question, Prof. How many flight capable rangers are there in the dome currently? Out on the fields?
>>
>>29455172
Did we earn any exp for completing the trek outside the dome?
>>
dear giovanni:
Your training exercises can hardly be differentiated from your active duty
>>
>>29455172
Oh hey, will we be receiving our mission rewards after this mission is completely finished?
>>
>>29455220
>>29455172
how much was in our account BEFORE this mission?
How much is in it now?
>>
>>29455172
>>29455233
Not just that, but any changes to our stats.

I'm expecting an improvement on our Perception stat for spotting the village.
>>
>>29455250
I am interested in how many pairs of shades we can buy with this money
I want an ever-water charm thing, and enough shades to outfit our whole assigned squad when we get a more permanent set up

yeah, definitely mind whammed. Junior's a deadman er monster thing.

WE GONNA GIT YOU HOMICIDAL PSYCHIC RAPE BABBY!
>>
>>29455202
Mind that you can only train techniques with them.

>>29455220
Mission rewards are rewarded at the end of the completed mission. You've gone into "overtime" on this one, with the loose end needing tied up.

>>29455233
Your account was at a 0 balance with food, housing, water and other necessities provided along with replaceable recquisitioned outfits.
Extra cresits may be used to purchase additional things to assist in social environments, missions, and general fluff.
>>29455292
Special items such as that are a bit of a rare find... We'll see.

Ah, so we're wageslaves.
Gotcha.
good ol' giovanni.
>>
>>29455421
We live on the military's funds.
>>
>>29455446
yeah, but we're not making a profit. Or getting any pay, really, given how soldiers are usually compensated in addition to food and supplies for soldiering.

at least in modern militaries.
>>
>>29455464
Yeah, but, this isn't the usual kind of military. Since, firstly, we can't really leave it past a certain point in our service.

I just assume that, as we rise up in ranks, the benefits we're given just rise up along with it such that we wouldn't even need any personal money. Because what would we even spend it on anyway? Silph Co. products?
>>
>>29455464
Yeah but Rangers are as much weapons as soldiers and nobody lavishes excellent care on them. Only makes sure they are expertly maintained
>>
>>29455561
>what would we spend it on
Sending to the guys back in the pewter quarter, of course. It's the stated reason of several of their rockets.
>>
>>29455591
Gotta do missions for that money first.
>>
>>29455561
>Silph Co. products

You say this as though it is a bad thing.
I'll have you know that Silph's Catalog is nearing the end of its beta-phase, soon allowing us the pleasure of home delivery and selection directly from our warehouse.

>>29455591
>pewter
I'd ask you to refrain from speaking so poorly of our hard-working earthforce. The labor camps in which they are employed are integral to the dome's steady expansion and amenities and services offered,

Oh my. Better renew my membership in the Silph Co. Savers Club.
