You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

You slowly open your eyes to what appears to the soft pitter patter of… drums? You blink then turn your head from the ceiling to see-

“Aye, good morning to ya, Gertrude Pool.”

… Mary Stuart and what appears to be an entire marching band inside Kitten’s drom room. Mary is grinning like a madwoman, holding some kind of ceremonial mace in her hands and wearing the khaki uniform of William Adams Naval Academy.

She lifts the mace up into the air, tapping the ceiling. “Wake-up call!” She shouts. “Lass O’Fyvie!”

“How did you-“ You’re blown away by the sound of bagpipes. You slap your hands over your ears. Hold on. Your ears feel kind of weird. You poke around and find earplugs. Did they give you hearing protection!?

Mary Stuart idly waves her hand to the tune, whistling even if you actually HEAR her whistle.

Kitten wakes with a start. “WHAT’S GOING ON!?” she scream.

You shout at Stuart over the sound of bagpipes. “STUART!” Stuart looks down at you, confused. “STUART!” you shout again. “STOP THE MUSIC!”

Stuart snaps her fingers, and immediately the band screeches to silence. You take a deep breath, and then ask, “… how the fuck did you get in here?”

Stuart smiles as if this thing happens to her everyday. “Oh, we asked ye Seniors if ye be willing and they said yay to it I tell ya. Led us to ye dorm, ye winnae inna so we checked doon here turns out ye a bigger rugmuncher than Vicky!”

“… What?” It’s too early to decipher a Scottish accent. Let alone an Aberdeenshire accent. You rub your temples, groaning. “Ugh… why are you even here?”

“To give ya welcomes to Cherbourg, lookin’ forward to our little dinner tonight, eh?”

“Sure. Yeah.” You pull the earplugs out. You look over to see Kitten also has hearing protection as well. “Real considerate of you to give us hearing protection.”

Stuart laughs. “Aye! That be the power of the highland bagpipes! Nae fookin’ scrubs kinnae take it I tell ya something.”

“Right, cool.” You yawn, rubbing your eyes. Great. Now you’re too awake to go back to sleep. What time is it? You check the alarm clock. “Why did you wake me at 5 in the morning?”

Stuart shrugs. “I dinnae see the problem. We get ourselves up at 5, even earlier in the bleeding hours of the day sometimes. Ye should consider taking power naps in the afternoon, does wonders fae ye psyche!”

“I’ll consider it.” You clap your hands. “Anyway, is that all?”

Stuart nods. “That it is! We’ll take our leave. Vicky’s gonna be wonderin’ where we be and I dinnae want my ears chewed off again for being AWOL. ‘Til tonight, Pool. To your girlfriend as well.”

You politely nod, forcing a smile on your face. “’Til tonight. And she’s not my girlfriend.”

Stuart laughs. “Pah!” She turns to her band. “Exit March!”

With that, Stuart waves goodbye and files out alongside her band. You sigh as the last one, a very short triangle player leaves. You might as well get started. What shall you wear for today?

After a nice shower with Kitten and getting yourself dressed into your casualware, you start on breakfast for the day, just some instant noodles from Kitten’s refrigerator. You don’t feel like making pancakes. Much as you’d want sweet delicious pancakes.

Kitten sticks a finger in her, probing around. “Jeez… she took those bagpipes like it was nothing,” she says. She resumes playing War Thunder.

You say after you slurp up some noodles. “Well, Kitten, for one she’s from Scotland. Two, she’s part of Tankery. Either of those would probably imply that maybe she’s partially deaf or something.” You exhale. “At least she gave us hearing protection.”

Kitten nods. “True that. Don’t think I’m looking forward to dinner with them now.”

“Ah, it’s probably just good natured ribbing,” you say. “Anyway, we got some errands to run today anyway.”

You finish off your noodles and drop the empty bowl into the sink. What shall you do today?

> Embark on a Subquest (Something for all Girls)

“Anyway, I’m headed out, later Kitten.”

“Bye, Mom.”

You roll your eyes then shut the door behind you. First off, you need to find this so-called “Bakery.” Where could you find it? Eh, might as well check the business district. You take yourself on a nice walk in this French weather. You walk past a couple of excited students, giggling at the prospect of Shore Leave in such a short time.

Of course, you had something to do with that, but it’s only because you’ve got tanks to worry about. You arrive at the shopping outlets and such. Nothing that looks like a Bakery so far.

You yawn fiercely. Oh boy. You still hear the ringing of bagpipes in your ear. Lot of good that hearing protection did.

You stop yourself just outside a small unassuming building. On the window, it says Bakery. Eh, good a place as ever to look. You open the door and step inside to an empty shop. On the shelves are pastries and cookies of all kinds. You take a whiff. They smell fresh. You take a look at one shelf, labeled, “Free Samples.”

WELL DON’T MIND IF YOU DO. You take a cookie, a sugar cookie by the looks of it, and bite down into it.

… Huh. This cookie doesn’t taste all that great.

“Like it?”

You jump back a bit to see a girl with freckles on her face, grinning and bouncing in place in anticipation. She appears to be your age, but is dressed in…

Is she a Girl Scout?

“So?” she asks you again. “Do you like it? I made it myself!”

“Well…” You say. You look down at the cookie. “It needs some work definitely. I mean, I don’t know how to really bake cookies, but this doesn’t really taste as good as it should. Maybe if you-“ You hear a bit of sniffling. You turn to the girl and find that she’s burst into tear. Oh god what no

“S-So…” Her lip quivers as she tries to contain. “M-My cookies n-need more…” She screams as she runs of the Bakery.

You frown. You do not need this today. You’re tapped in the shoulder. You turn around to see another girl scout, wielding a baseball bat like some kind of Bear Jew.

“What did she ever do to you?” She angrily growls.

Your eyebrow twitches. “I’m sorry?”

She yells at you. “You don’t just tell Daisy that her cookies need work! SHE’S SENSITIVE!”

“… Huh?” you say. You clear your throat. “Wait, wait, look- I’m just-“

She steps past you, grabbing some of the cookies up from the shelf. “I’d love to help you. Just talk to Juliette or Gordon in the back, they’ll help you out. ‘Kay? Kay. Bye.” She runs out of the shop and yells. “DAISY! COME BACK!”

…Well. Now you know why you never joined the Girls Scouts. You step into the back of the shop and find yourself in a nice little lounging area. Two more girl scouts, both of whom look to be a Junior and a Senior, look at you.

The Senior says, “Gertrude Pool I assume?”

You nod, offering your hand. “Gertrude Pool. Heard I was needed here.”

The Senior stands up from her position at the table and shakes your hand vigorously. “Anne Juliette. Girl Scout Ambassador. This is Sarah Gordon, she’s an Ambassador too. You’ve already met Cynthia Low and our Girl Scout Senior, Bailey Powell we call her Daisy.” You nod again, smiling. She offers you a cookie. “Don’t worry, I baked this one.” You take it and bite into it and YEP SHE DEFINITELY BAKED THIS ONE, DELICIOUS.

“So, I heard you needed me for something?”

Gordon nods. “Yep! We saw what you did at lunch yesterday! It was amazing!” Juliette offers you a chair, which you sit down in. “We were wondering if you’d…”

Juliette finishes it off. “… would like to help the Girl Scouts here by advertising our little Bakery!”

You tilt your head. “Well… why can’t you do it yourself?”

Juliette frowns. “Well. Honestly. Because people think we’re dorks. Dorks who make good cookies, but dorks nonetheless.”

“But I like your cookies!” you say.

Gordon says, “Anyway, are you interested? What we really want you to do is maybe help us distribute some cookies every now and again when we call you. It’s not a hard job.”

Juliette nods, her smile back. “Plus, you can keep whatever money you make off of it. All yours! Just as long as people know our Bakery is here! Will you help us?”

“Sure. Not like I’ve got much else to do, and I could always use more money on the Tankery Team.”

Gordon shouts, “Yes!” She shakes your hand vigorously. “Glad to have you aboard then! This is going to be such an excellent partnership I’m sure!”

Juliette nods, smiling as well. “To partners then! As partner of the Girl Scouts of Lafayette Girls Academy, you’re welcome to unlimited free cookies here at our little bakery!”

The words “unlimited free cookies” echo in your head. Sweet Jesus have mercy. You nod, grinning. “Okay, okay. Good! Great!”

You all hear some footsteps, then who else walks in but Low and Daisy. Daisy appears to have dried her tears, while simply smiles proudly. “Caught her again.” She looks down at you. “Still here?”

Juliette slides on over to Low. “Cynthia! This is Gertrude Pool! Commander of the Tankery Team and Sophomore Class President.” Low blinks in surprise. “She’s going to help us sell our cookies.”

Low looks at Juliette funny. “You recruited the Tankery girls to sell cookies?”

“Why not? Stranger things have happened. Just look at the Boy Scouts,” says Gordon.

Low sighs. “Eh, fine.” She looks at you. “Well, I suppose it’s great that you’re helping us.”

“Right,” says Juliette. She stands up and again shakes your hand. “We’ll call you when we get some cookies to sell. And occasionally we might need your help, BUT ONLY OCCASIONALLY!” she shouts.

You nod. “Sounds cool.” Not really. You slink out of Juliette’s grasp and simply say, “Well, it’s nice knowing you all then. Give me a call when you need me?”

“… IT’S NOT LIKE I COOKED THEM!?” She runs out of the Bakery screaming and doing that little girly run.

“WAIT!” Low runs after her. “I DIDN’T MEAN ANYTHING! YOUR COOKIES ARE GOOD!”

“Sure, be there in a jiffy.”

“Great, see you in a bit!”

You hang up and proceed back to the dorms, all the while you eat your delicious delicious cookies. You tell yourself, “Wait, save some for Kitten and Nancy.” BUT NO. KITTEN AND NANCY ARE NOT HERE. You munch down hungrily into the cookies until only two are left.

You look down at them, frowning. Okay, yeah, maybe you should save those.

Regardless, without too much more incident, you arrive back at the dorms. You knock on Nancy’s door. “It’s open!” You walk in to see Nancy at her desk, laptop open and sounds blasting the horrors of virtual warfare. Kitten is on the bed, laptop open and headphones dropped around her neck. Both are clad in their Tankery undershirts and miniskirts.

“Hey, Trudy,” says Kitten. She looks at your bag. “What’s that?”

You hold it up, smiling nervously. “Cookies from the Girl Scouts. Made a deal with them if we help them, they’ll help us.”

Nancy smiles, her attention focused on the screen. “Marvelous!” A boom goes off. “D’aw! They killed my guy!”

“You have nine other guys,” says Kitten. “Use them.”

You sit down next to Kitten and offer her a cookie. She takes it and eats it vigorously. You toss a cookie to Nancy, which she catches deftly without even looking.

“Nice catch,” you say.

“Thank you!”

Shore leave money making opportunities?

And I hate to be the bearer of unpleasant news, but I just rechecked the delivery time on the Pershing as a point of comparison.

It was ordered at the afternoon on Tues - Sept. 17th, and it arrived by morning Wed - Sept. 25th.

So even if by some miracle we got the money now, we won't be able to use it by Saturday next week, which is the day of the match against William Adams.

So yeah, unless there's some yet undiscovered mechanic of speeding up deliveries, we might be better off ensuring our first match victory by focusing on upgrades for three of our current tank line-up, namely the StuG, the Sentinel, and the Panzer IV. A day of conversion for each totalling to just three days.

Just putting it out there.

Oh crap. That's something I hadn't even considered. Maybe we can contact some people for a loan, beg and insist for our sponsorship money early, grill the shop to help us speed up delivery. If we're going to do something, we need to do it, like, now.

Putting the money into upgrading our tanks isn't bad at all, but it'd really suck if we lose the opportunity to buy the Tiger.

Let's get on this after lunch as cooking is pretty well locked in now.
>>
>>29466577
What we need to know, is how long is a tank on our Wishlist? What are the limitations?

> Cook Lunch

“Nancy, mind if I get started on lunch?”

Nancy nods, her attention still squarely on the game. “Sure! Go ahead! Ingredients are in the fridge.”

You walk over to the little kitchen area and start putting down the stuff needed for a simple chicken soup. You start away at chopping some of the chicken into edible portions. As you cook, you listen in on Nancy and Kitten playing their little game of theirs.

“Kitten, why isn’t my tank firing?”

“The main gun got damaged to repair it.”

“Kitten, what’s difference between this grenade and that grenade?”

“That one kills infantry, the other kills tanks.”

“Kitten, my guys are dying.”

“You keep double clicking, they’re running into that machine gun’s lane of fire.”

“Kitten, my tank isn’t moving.”

“It’s been destroyed and it’s on fire.”

“Kitten, why can’t I purchase more things?”

“Because you spent all your points on Conscripts.”

Man. Kitten has the patience of a saint sometimes. In that time, you managed to cook some chicken soup for three people. You place the bowls next to Nancy, Kitten, and then sit down next to Kitten, soup in your lap.

“Are you guys winning?” you ask.

Kitten chuckles. “We’re 70 points behind on this match. A flamethrower just burned down my Super Pershing, a Katyusha’s way in the back destroying all my infantry, and Nancy keeps calling in conscripts and M5A1 Stuarts. What do you think?”

“… so you’re winning.”

“Please.”

You spend some time on reading through Heinz Guderian’s famed book. This time you get into the development of the Blitzkrieg. Not just simply a very fast attack, but there is a lot more detail into it than you ever thought possible.

> Achtung, Panzer!: Progress: 30%

You decide on calling up Mr. Mishka. After a few seconds, he answers the phone. “Ah, Gertrude. Something I can do for you?”

“Hey, Mr. Mishka. I wanted to know if that King Tiger we wish-listed earlier would get here in time for our match with Adams if we were to order it today.”

“Ah, standard protocol calls for one-week deliveries unfortunately. It wouldn’t get in here time.”

“No way to make it go… faster?”

“Nah, we’re good for now, Mr. Mishka.”

“Alright. Will be here if you need me then.”

You hang up and resume your lunch. You peek over Kitten’s shoulder, seeing her try to establish some semblance of a defensive position but unfortunately getting popped left and right by enemy KV-85s.

“Motherfucker!” Kitten balls her hands up into fists, fuming.

“Kitten? Why are my troops not firing?”

Kitten sighs, calming down. “Maybe they’re out of ammo, Nancy. I’d be surprised if any of them lasted that long.” You laugh at Kitten’s misfortune. She looks back at you and says, “Oh shut up you.”

“Kitten, I just called in an M4A3 Sherman.”

Kitten says, “Smartest purchase you’ve made yet, Nancy. Just support it with Infantry and maybe we can we just lost.” Kitten frowns as the scoreboard comes up.

3 points to 100.

You rustle Kitten’s hair. “D’aw. Maybe next time.”

There’s a knock at your door. You put the bowl down on the floor and move to answer it. You open the door and who else but-

“Gertrude!” Perrine Hobart opens her arms wide. “Hugs!”

Okay, for our match we'll want our Panzer into an Ausf. F1, our Sentinel an AC IV, and Stug an Ausf. F; right?
So we mount the 17pdr on the Sentinel, the Panzer and Stug coversions total 19,500, then would we still need to convert the Sentinel but at a discount? Should we do anything with the Chi-Ha?

You reluctantly open up your arms, and she immediately takes you on in a hug. What surprises you most however is that she ends up LIFTING YOU INTO THE AIR.

“WHOA, PERRINE, THAT’S SOMETHING.” you say.

“Yay!” she shouts. She puts you back down and dusts herself off. You notice that she’s not in that mechanic’s jumpsuit from the Rally, but in a more academic uniform. An olive blazer with a plaid pleated miniskirt. She adjusts her glasses a bit, smile on her face, then says, “So, I trust you’re doing well, Gertrude?”

You nod. “Of course.” You motion her inside and shut the door behind her. You gesture over to Nancy and Kitten. “You remember Nancy and Kitten right?”

Perrine nods. “Of course! It’s nice to see you both again. Where are your treasurer and your secretary?”

Nancy says, “They’re making preparations for us for the dinner at William Adams.”

“Ah, I see. You’re going with your entire team?” You nod. “Cool! I’m here with only my best girls, Koshkin, Aders, Stratton, and Briggs. We just dropped by via DC-3 Dakota! Our M39 AUV’s out front.”

You nod again. “Cool.”

She kneels down next to Kitten. “Oooh, video games.”

Kitten looks over at her, smirking. “You play any?”

“Well, mostly stuff that has to do with building things.” She claps her hand together, realizing something. “Oh, that reminds me! Did you see the match?”

“Yeah,” you say. “Was really something!”

Perrine nods. “Yep! Turns out the E-100 didn’t really uh… cut it. Got stuck in a ditch and we couldn’t get out until after the match. We’re planning on moving it to the Unlimited line!”

You place a hand on Perrine’s shoulder, smile fading a little. “Perrine. Please. No.”

Perrine looks at you, confused. “Why not? The E-100 chassis would be wonderful for mounting a short barrel 240mm gun. Turn it into one giant assault gun!” Nancy quietly laughs in shame at her desk while Kitten facepalms. “Oh! Better yet! You’ve just given me an idea! I could totally use the E-100 and stick a bunch of turrets on it, like the T-35 and-“

“Perrine. Please.”

“Hm,” Perrine crosses her arms, pouting. “You’re no fun.”

“I’m just saying,” you say, “The E-100’s one of a kind. Maybe keep it as like a museum piece or something. Or sell it to a museum or something.”

Perrine taps her chin, looking up at the ceiling, apparently thinking. “Huh… but it wouldn’t be in use like that.”

“Trust me,” you say. “Tanks like the E-100 are probably better off as eye-candy.”

Perrine nods. “Hm, I suppose that’s understandable.” She sits down, smile returning like a boomerang. “Anyway, tomorrow,” she smiles at you like a madwoman. “You gotta visit us at the racetrack. Maybe even check out the Factory where the magic happens!”

You nod. “Sure, sounds nice, Perrine.”

“Anyway!” she heads on for the door. “Just dropping by, seeing how you all are doing! See you at Adams!” She shuts the door behind her. You check the time. Hm, looks like you should be preparing.

“You don’t have to worry about Kitten,” says Nancy. “Made her take a shower when she got here!” She sniffs a bit of Kitten’s hair. “Smells like apples.”

Kitten says, “That’s nice, Nancy.”

You hear a loud honk. Everyone packs up to see the Lafayette tank convoy pull up outside of the Sophomore dorms. Lisa and Ramirez turn out of the hatches in the Sherman. “Ready to go?”

You nod. “Let’s do this.” You all climb up onto the Sherman and take your positions.

> Read a Book (Achtung, Panzer!)

You decide on leaning back in the Commander’s chair, and reading your little book as Lisa drives the tank and leads your little convoy down to the loading areas. Interesting thing this book as it talks about the Blitzkrieg. It was really fast attack and more really big quick powerful strike into one area supported by everything and everything.

> Achtung, Panzer!: Progress: 40%

“Lisa, we there yet?” you ask.

She says, “We’re just about at the loader.”

You close the book and turn out. You see the tanks all park neatly on the loader. The Naval Studies Merchant tells everyone to keep their arms and limbs inside their vehicles until the loader has come to a complete stop.

Sometimes, it’s too slow to just be lowered down to the pier, then be brought back up to the other ship. Cherbourg sports a massive crane capable of carrying several thousand tons all over the port, and here it transports some materiel from Lafayette Girls Academy to William Adams Naval Academy. You feel a sense of weightlessness as the crane jerks forward and lifts you all off the Academyship and towards William Adams.

You button back up.

“So, think dinner will be nice?” asks Lisa.

“Well,” you say, “They’re British. It has to be.”

Soon, the crane jerks to a stop. You’ve arrived onboard William Adams Naval Academy.

You turn out, and Lisa powers the Sherman up again. The convoy gets moving on until you meet up with a Cromwell tank by the loading area. You say stop to Lisa, who stops the tank and the convoy. Who else but Anne Murphy comes up to from the Cromwell. “Ah, well, if it isn’t Gertrude Pool.”

“That’s me,” you say.

Anne nods, clearly looking like she wants to be somewhere else. She looks at your line up and balks a little. “Right, I’ll take all of you up where we have dinner, you follow me?”

You nod. “Righto.”

Anne hops up into the Cromwell, then gets moving. Lisa follows after her, along with the rest of the team.

William Adams is a pretty big school at 12 kilometers. Lisa, ever the studious one, tells you about how it was actually originally supposed to be delivered to the Japanese in the 60s, before the Japanese started building their own Academyships. Thus, William Adams became a British Academyship, and by extension a Naval Academy. All students here are actually Naval Studies students with different roles and different jobs.

You arrive at the huge dining hall. You park your tanks and hop on out. Anne dismounts as well, walking right past you and immediately parking herself next to her commander, Victoria Augustine.

Victoria smiles, welcoming. “Gertrude! Nice to see you and you newbies. I trust you all are well?”

You offer your hand, “Nice to meet you, Gwynedd.” She shakes it, stoic expression of calm and curiosity on her face.

“She doesn’t talk much,” says Victoria.

“Clearly.”

“Anyway!” She claps her hands together. “Let’s have some dinner. Our chefs have prepared for us some delectable roast ham and other nice fineries to dine on for the night. You and your crew will eat with us, the rest will eat downstairs in the General dining area.”

Nancy asks, “Where are we eating?”

Victoria smirks. “Officer’s Lounge.”

You all head inside, your crews being directed into the general dining area where you see the rest of William Adams’ Tankery team has assembled for dinner. You head upstairs into a nice lovely area, where on end, you can look down at all the crews. You’re directed to sit down at a large table where you see Perrine and her girls, along with Mary Stuart are already sitting.

“But that’s wrong you cunt!” shouts Stuart. “You kinnae stick a fooking Sherman on top of an E-100! That’s like asking a fooking prostitute for anal!”

Perrine looks unfazed, even a bit confused. “But it’d work in Unlimited.”

You sit down between Kitten and Nancy. “Well, shall we eat then?” you say. Waitresses come by to give you the starters. Dumplings served with some butter and gravy.

“So, is Tankery a big part of William Adams Naval?” you ask.

Victoria says, “A bit. Started up around 30 or so years ago, that was when all we had was a bunch of surplus Cruiser Mark IVs, Covenanters, and Cavaliers. Worked our way up from that to the Cromwells, Comets, and Challengers that everyone knows and loves today.”

Stuart says, “Aye, we kicked the arses out of the Nationals just back a few months back if ye believe that story. But whae geez a fuck aboot that Nationals anyway. It’s a shitehole of a thing if ye ask me.”

Murphy says, “No one asked ya. And I don’t think no cunt particularly cares about it either.”

> Talk with the Walter Christie Girls

As the Irish and Scot begin using their spoons as catapults to pelt each other with dumplings, you decide to make smalltalk with the Christie girls.

Perrine motions to the girls. “Oh, Gertrude. These are some of the best girls I have working in the Unlimited Program. Edwina Aders, Mikaela Koshkin, Stephanie Briggs and Harriet Stratton.”

You smile, motioning your glass of water to them. “Nice to meet you all.”

Perrine points to Stratton and Briggs. “Briggs and Stratton over there are pretty much singlehandedly responsible for getting the E-100 together. Couldn’t have done it without them.”

Briggs nods. “Yep, engines are our livelihoods.”

Stratton says, “Perrine’s got us working on the Chi-Ri project actually.”

Nancy gasps. “You have a Chi-Ri! But they only built one, and they didn’t even finish it!”

“Well,” says Perrine. “What we’re hoping for is that we can get it past the ITL to make it legal. Problem is that the ITL are very anal about what is legal in terms of replications. We have to work off a lot of guesswork because we don’t have many blueprints of tanks.”

Koshkin nods. “Yep. And if we get even one detail wrong, even the tiniest thing, it’s dubbed illegal and we have to scrap it.”

Stratton nods. “Which is why we have to be extra careful with restoring it. We dredged the thing out of the ocean from a sunken ship, salt water’s eaten away a lot of the internal components, everything else is rusted to shit. Could take us months to restore it.”

Stuart scoffs. “Eh, it’d be useless anyway. Those origami tanks be fookin’ fragile as Victoria’s ego.”

Victoria clears her throat. “I heard that.”

“I know.”

Aders looks at you and asks, “So, what’s your team like?”

As the waitresses begin serving the roast pork and other delicacies of the main course, you describe your team. “Well, in terms of tanks we have a very varied line up which I think is a versatile set up.”

Anne and Mary exhale loudly and burst at the seams, quietly laughing. Victoria and Gwynedd quickly kick them under the table, shutting them up.

“I’m personally very proud of it, we’ve got an M4A1E8 which is my personal tank, an S35, a Churchill IV, a KV-85, a Short Barrel 120, a Stuart, a Panther, a Sentinel, and a Stug, and we recently got a new crew into our Panzer IV C.”

Victoria curiously asks, “Oh? Who you got for crews?”

“Oh, only the most nicest and most loyal people. A lot of displaced clubs that just want to do Tankery. We even managed to scrounge up an old Ace crew for the tournament. Took some elbow grease to get ‘em convinced but I think-“

“Wait,” Perrine leans across the table towards you, grinning hopefully. “You know Michelle right?”

You nod. “Yeah. She’s the gunner for the Pan-“

Perrine stands up and heads over to the end of the room which overlooks the general dining area. She leans over the railing and waves. “HI MICHELLE! HI! HELLO!”

You all sit there quietly as Perrine calls out to Michelle.

“MICHELLE! IT’S ME, PERRINE! YOUR COUSIN! REMEMBER ME!”

Stuart says, “If she be my cousin, I winta wanna.”

You dig into your meal, finding it lovely and delicious. Meanwhile, the Walter Christie and William Adams girls strike up conversation.

Victoria asks Koshkin, “So, you girls do a lot of restoration work?”

Koshkin nods. “It’s a business of ours, it’s how we pay for a lot of stuff. We dredge up old tanks or have vintages delivered to us, we restore them to running order. We also work in building new tanks from ITL specified blueprints. Restoration, replication, and renovation. That’s the business Walter Christie is in.”

“Well,” says Murphy. “’Sides that and the fecking issue of Unlimited. How do you get by with butchering those poor tanks?”

Stratton says, “We don’t see it as butchering. We see it as renovation. We turn junkers into fighting machines and we do it well.”

Aders says, “Yep! I’m personally really proud of our Unlimited team. We’ve won the NAUL countless times. Tankery Classic oughta be a snap for us.”

“Oi,” Stuart points to Perrine, who’s still waving at Michelle downstairs. “Ye telling us that fookin’ lass is smart enough to do Tankery?”

Koshkin nods again, smirking. “She’s smarter than she looks.”

You shrug. “Oh, lot of reasons, Perrine.”

Victoria nods as she slices up a bit of meat. “Well, I tell you something. I suppose it’s always nice to have someone with experience.” She thumbs over to Gwynedd who’s quietly eating her meal. “Take Archer here-“

“Vicky,” Stuart interrupts. “Are ye here to advertise ye sickening romance with ye and Archer?”

Victoria stomps her foot, glaring at Stuart. “Stuart! I am going to shove those bagpipes you love so much right up your dirty cunt if you don’t shut up.”

Murphy chortles. “You’d like that-“

“MURPHY!”

Stuart bites down her lip, trying to keep herself from laughing. “Are Archers wee jammies blue or pink?”

Victoria yells, blushing furiously. “AH! STOP IT YOU TWO! YOU’RE EMBARRASING ME!”

Victoria says, “Well, thank you for that, Gertrude. I appreciate someone coming to my aide for once. Considering I have fucking Duke of Gordon and Ireland on the same team here.”

Stuart frowns. “Ye say that as if it’s a bad thing ye cunt.”

Victoria shakes her head. “Anyway, Perrine. You said something about open-topped tanks, didn’t you?”

Murphy says, “No she didn-“

“Shut up.”

Perrine says, “Well, we do build conversion kits for open-top vehicles. Such vehicles are then designated with an (S) for Senshadou. We build them specifically so they look like field modifications rather than actual armor which would affect performance of the tank.”

Stratton says, “The thing about it though is the fact that judging computers still judge the top turret armor as non-existent. So if you pop an HE shell into the turret from the top, you can pretty much instant knock out the Hellcats or the Wolverines like that.”

Victoria nods, regaining some of her confidence. “That’s nice.”

Seeing as how American TDs have paper thin armor anyways, I don't see what kind of difference that would make.

And for dessert, a nice big banana cream pie. You ask Perrine, “So, you guys finding Tankery Classic a challenge?”

Perrine nods. “Yep! But a good kind of a challenge.” She taps her forehead. “A challenge that makes you think.”

Nancy says, “How come you don’t use a more normal line up? Why is it all prototypes and other stuff like that?”

“Well,” Perrine takes a bite out of her pie. “The thing is, Nancy, I like the prototypes. Well most of them, thinking of getting rid of the Excelsior for example, it’s a real crappy tank along with the E-100.”

Murphy says, “I’m still crossed you used the Excelsiors in your Unlimited line ups. Those are perfectly good tanks!”

“They’re perfectly good tanks, NOW,” says Perrine, emphasizing the now part. “We’ll send the Excelsior to storage or something. Last one actually, we used up all the other pilot vehicles.”

Victoria chokes on her drink, coughing up a little. “Goodness.”

Perrine says, “You all should come by Christie tomorrow, the ship’s going to dock here in Cherbourg by tonight.”

Victoria says, “I think we’ll pass. We’ve got our match with Gertrude this coming weekend. We gotta practice.”

“Aw, that’s a shame,” says Perrine. She leans over at Victoria. “I’m sure you’d love to see our Cromwells.”

Victoria bites her lip, blushing a little. “Perrine, please.”

“120mm guns, improved Rolls-Royce meteors, Torsion bar suspension…”

Victoria grips at the table, shouting, “Perrine!”

Stuart says, “The fook is goin’ on.”

You say, “Fine by me.”

Perrine hugs Victoria tightly, rubbing cheeks with her. Victoria blushes a little. “Perrine.”

“I’ll stop by and visit, Vicky!” says Perrine.

“Perrine, please,” says Victoria.

Same with a faster round.

The only real advantages a larger bore gun has is the ability to fire larger sub-caliber munitions thanks to the (probably) opportunity for a hotter charge behind the round and a more massive HE load than a smaller-bore gun. But since ITL has a pretty specific list of ammunition available, and HE rounds are only sparingly used in tankery...

Perrine shrugs. “Ah, they’re just tanks. There’s always more of them, you know? Besides, I love Unlimited! It’s… it’s freedom.”

Lisa says, “I don’t think people like your freedom.”

“Hmph,” goes Perrine. “Well, if we do face with each other, Gertrude. I will show you what I can do.” She looks past you, then her eyes go wide. “MICHELLE!” You look behind yourself and see the Ace crew doing a very piss poor job at hiding Michelle on the way to the Panzer IV. Perrine shoves past you and absolutely knocks all the Aces flat on their asses. “MICHELLE!”

“God kill me now,” Michelle says quietly before Perrine takes her on in a serious bear hug.

“Oh my god!” Perrine kisses Michelle on the cheek. “It’s been so long!” She kisses Michelle again on the other cheek. “I was so worried after what happened to you! And now you’re doing Tankery again! That’s so great!” She repeatedly kisses Michelle on the cheeks.

Perrine turns to you. “She and I were good friends as kids. Of course, we’ve got different philosophies on how we should do Tankery. Ultimately though, I think the two of us are just like peas and carrots!”

Michelle nods. “Yeah, peas and carrots.” She looks at you and mouths, “Please help me.”

You say, “Well, Michelle has to go back to her crew, maybe she can catch up with you later.”

It could've been the T-72, it could've been the T-64, it could've been the T-80. I just know I've been told that the older models of one of those tanks had an autoloader that had the capacity to maim if you're unlucky and get caught up in the machinery. Obviously such flaws have been fixed in Russia's modern designs.
>>
> Talk with a Crew (Team Tigris)

All of the Ace crew are turned out of the hatches of the Panzer IV as you begin loading up onto the crane. You decide to hold a conversation with them both. “So, girls, how’d you like dinner?”

Kate says, “Very interesting people, William Adams girls. They’re really proud of their Cruiser tanks!”

Wendy says, “That bitch is the fucking anti-christ.” You assume she’s talking about Perrine. “Fucking Walter Christie and their goddamn arty sniping and their Unlimited bullshit.”

Michelle says, “Hey, that’s my cousin! She may have a horrible hobby but bless her heart she’s really nice.”

“Well,” says Octavia, “She’s not nice to the tanks.”

Bolter says, “I wouldn’t want to be a Christie tank that’s for sure.”

You say, “Hey, it won’t be all bad visiting Christie tomorrow.”

“Please don’t make me,” begs Michelle.

“I won’t force you if you don’t want to,” you say. “Question is, will Perrine?”

Michelle shudders. “Oh god, that’s a sickening thought.”

The crane delivers you from William Adams back to Lafayette Girls Academy. Your tanks all move out of the landing area and begin separating of their own accord as everyone begins heading home.

Your Sherman pulls into the Sophomore dorm under darkness of night. You check the time, 9:30. Ain’t that something.

Ramirez’s dorm is actually pretty darn clean. Definitely cleaner than Lisa’s. Nothing too compromising, nothing too secret inducing, nothing. You all walk inside and make yourselves at home. Lisa gets to washing up in the bathroom while you all sit around the TV and start watching your shows. Ramirez meanwhile sits at her desk and studies idly.

Nancy says, “Ramirez, do you do a lot of housekeeping?”

“Yep.”

You nod. “It’s quite the place you keep clean here. Kitten would be proud, aren’t you, Kitten?”

Kitten nods. “Yeah, totally.”

Ramirez nods. “Thanks.”

Ramirez’s cellphone goes off. She answer it immediately. “Bueno?” Ramirez breaks into a girly smile, rolling around in her seat. “Ah! Como esta?!” Must be her boyfriend.

According to the quick google search I literally did just now, it was the T-64 that had accidents happen, and again it was in early versions of the T-64. There were some accidents where the uniform for the gunner would get snagged on the autoloader, and his arm would get caught up in the machinery.

The problem was rectified in later models of the T-64.

You decide studying like Ramirez is the best way to go, so you crack open one of your books, lie down on Ramirez’s bed, and then start reading through. There’s more information on tactical doctrinal stuff that you’re not really clearly understanding. Another read through though oughta get you in the mood for it.

> Achtung, Panzer!: Progress: 70% (I think)

Lisa exits the shower, sighing in sweet bliss. “Man, how come everyone’s showers are better than mine?”

You say, “Maybe the water just hates you.”

Lisa harrumphs and sits down next to Nancy and Kitten. “So, what are you guys watching?”

Kitten says, “Latest episode of Commando Cody.”

“Oh?” Your interest is piqued. “Anything interesting happen?”

Kitten sighs. “No. Just more romance crap between Jeff King and… what’s her face. I forgot.”

Nancy says, “That’s how forgettable she is. I hate when shows try to shoe-horn random romances in. Especially in settings where the other gender just wouldn’t make sense.”

Lisa says, “What, like guys doing Tankery?”

Everyone bursts into laughter.

You wipe a tear from your eye. “Ahaha! That’s funny, Lisa, really funny.”

“Hey, I’m a regular comedian,” says Lisa in a deadpan tone.

Kitten says, “Speaking of which though. What do you think Walter Christie is like? I mean, if we’re going there tomorrow.”

there were no loading gate shields that traditional non-autoloaded tanks had that kept the crew safe from the recoiling breech in the T-64, thus it was able for the gunner to lean against the autoloader's rammer, which was largely uncovered

it was quickly recognized as a problem, and fixed with a quick refit of a shield, between the crew members and the autoloaders mechanisms.

the russian have no had problems with autoloaders since then, the T-72's problems were to do with its ammunition cassette, which was vulnerable to penetrating side shots below the turret, where the cassette was stored, under the turret floor

Thanks for clearing that up.

Have they fixed the ammunition storage yet, or is that a planned feature on the T-95 Armata? God knows we see enough exploding T-72s in Syria on live leak.
>>
>>29473883
>T-72s in Syria

Export tanks are a much different beast than their originals.
>>
>>29473883
its only confined to the T-72 series, the T-80/90 and onwards use different propellant and storage for their cassettes, so they massively reduce the risk of cookoff's, you're more likely to get a round just trash the cassette and ruin your ammo, rather than turn into a roman candle

there were improvements made to the T-72's storage, but the ones you see blowing up are crappy export models that don't have such upgrades

“Eh, I’m sure Christie is a wonderful place,” you say.

Lisa says, “Yeah, but just the way Perrine cuts up those tanks and is so… nice. It’s off-putting. I mean, they are just tanks but I feel like a part of just dies a little.”

Nancy looks over and says, “That’s normal, Lisa. You’re getting attached to your tank, you’re feeling a primal instinct to protect it. Seeing other tanks get chopped up and be refurbished is just naturally offputting.”

Lisa groans. “Oh great. I’m becoming a nerd.”

“Yeah,” you say. “A nerd who drives a tank.” You shake her shoulder. “Be proud of it, Tankery’s awesome!”

“Yep,” says Kitten. “And in one week’s time we got our match with William Adams Academy. Let’s not pussyfoot around. We should be ready for them.”

“Of course,” you say. You sit down between Kitten and Nancy as the newest Crimson Skies: The Animated Series starts playing. “Of course.”

17 pdr

>>

yep, all evidence points towards the Armata being a complete rethink of their tanking design philosophies, should be very interesting to see it finished

they are both great late war guns, but the point is kind of moot anyway, you can't turn a sherman into a M10, the only thing they share is suspension

To an extent. The discussion was about ballistic properties of the 90mm M3 and 17pdr which are very similar. However there are some differences that will make picking the correct gun important

M36 has slightly better power to Weight and Ground Pressure, it also has a Hydraulic Traversing turret. It stows 47 rounds of Ammunition and can put out 8 rounds/minute
APC M82 43.87 pounds
HVAP 37.13 pounds

The Achilles has a manual traverse turret and it has a thinner gun shield (2.25 inches as opposed to 3 inches), it carries 50 rounds of ammunition and can put out 10 rounds/minute
APCB Mk VIII 37.5 pounds
SVDS 28.4 pounds

Now the question you have to ask is how important each of these things are. Manual Traverse will be a pain in the ass, especially for teenage girls, but so will be the weight of 90mm rounds

>>29474270
M4 and the M10 are based off the M3 Chassis so conversion is greatly possible.
>>
>>29475197
Not to speak for Schteel but I doubt this is specifically aimed at Blackjack's quest.

I read fanfiction, yes I know, and there's a surprising amount of GuP FF that introduce guys. Depending on one's adherence to canon, this can range from MST3K mantra to Rip and Tear in reaction.

Blackjack's quest does fall into that category of course.
